Face-off
Just the Beginning before this
‘He’s trying to get into his head, and it’s working.’
“You really are similar to the previous One For All successor, Shimura Nana.”
“Do not sully the name of my honored master… with that filthy mouth of yours…!”
“She was a woman of no skill whose ideals got ahead of her. She was an embarrassment to me as the one who created One For All. She died in a really pathetic way. Where shall I start…?”
“Don’t listen to him!” Hiva shouted. “He’s trying to piss you off. Don’t let him.”
“Enough!”
“Damn it!” Hiva yelled as All Might raised his fist to bring it down on All For One again. Smoke wrapped around both of them, and Hiva was in All Might’s place a second later. A large explosion sent her into the air and almost into the reporting helicopter, but she slowed to a stop and hung onto one of the prongs. “I couldn’t touch him. That was the perfect chance, too.” Another attack flew towards her, and she blew it away and off course. Hiva pulled herself up and knocked on the helicopter’s window before sliding the door open and swinging in. “I know it’s your job, but you shouldn’t be here. I’d leave if I were you. You’ll get yourselves killed.” She jumped from the helicopter and landed, sighing when it made no move to leave.
“Hiva!” Hiva froze at the little voice that called out to her. She turned, and her eyes widened at the sight of Hajime’s panicked face, the heroes below the rubble shouting at him to get back.
"This isn’t a safe place for a child,” All For One stated, lifting his hand. Smoke gathered around Hiva and flew towards All For One, throwing him into the air. Another tendril of smoke wrapped around him and pulled him back into the ground.
Hiva turned and ran to Hajime, wrapping her arms around him and sliding down the small hill. “You okay, kiddo?” Hajime just whimpered and hid his face in her shoulder. “It’s okay. You’re going to be okay. I’ll make sure you and everyone else gets out of here safely.” Her eyes glowed as she spoke. Buildings shifted and picked themselves back up and stood how they once were. Black smoke wrapped around the victims and kept them as still as possible to carry them to a safer place without causing more injury.
“You’re gonna beat him, right?” Hajime’s voice was small and terrified.
“All Might has it. Don’t worry.”
“But he looks so different.” Hiva sighed. If even Hajime could see it, All Might might’ve been doing worse than she wanted to admit.
“He won’t beat me,” Hiva assured. “I’m staying to help. You have to go with the heroes, so I can do that, though, okay?” Hajime slowly nodded and let Hiva lay him down. The smoke covered him, and she finally noticed the odd angle of his leg and the quiet wheezes coming from his lungs. Hiva shook with rage as she looked back up the rubble. She threw her arms out to send the smoke farther out and then raised them to force the buildings to stand. She floated up and glared at All For One, the smoke furling from her eyes and creating an almost villainous face over her head.
“You fucked up.” Hiva wanted nothing more than to shove All For One's face into the ground over and over until he stopped moving, but she had to play rescue first.
“Have any emergency vehicles arrived yet?” Hiva called down, panting slightly from the effort.
“They’re on the way,” one hero replied. Hiva sighed.
“Good,” she grunted. “This should be the last of them.” Hiva sent out another wave of smoke as the last civilians floated over her head to safety.
“Thank you for the help.” Hiva hadn’t even heard the sentence, falling to the ground, the force creating a crater under her feet. Black fire flew from her eyes as she watched the fight between All For One and All Might, waiting for the perfect time to jump in. She sped forward before she could second guess herself, brushing All For One’s shoulder as she passed.
---
“Woah!” the reporter exclaimed as he watched the fire rise above. “You can feel the heat!” In a second, the fire was gone, and so were All For One and Hiva. “H-Hey, where did they go?”
“Hiva!” All Might called. “HIVA!” Everyone watching their screens studied the terrain, trying to see if they were hidden below.
“Wait, we’re getting something,” the reporter said after a moment. The helicopter changed course and began to fly away from the original fight. Large clouds of smoke and dust could be seen in the distance after a few minutes of flying. “There! That way!”
---
The flames disappeared, and All For One studied his new surroundings, taking in the trees and nearby lake as Hiva panted with her chest heaving like her body was trying to force her to double over. “Interesting choice. What were you hoping for, Shinso?” All For One asked. “Oh, you said Yamada earlier, right?” Hiva held her arms in front of her like a shield as All For One’s arm swelled and was thrown back into the forest. “You can’t win. You’re not All Might. Not even All Might could’ve won. That’s why you brought us here, right?” Hiva scrambled behind a tree and gasped for breath as she heard trees get ripped from the ground and thrown like they weighed nothing.
‘I wasn’t thinking.’ she thought. ‘I just wanted to keep anyone else from getting hurt. And I was mad. It was probably more because of that, but that’s gone now. This is terrifying.’ “I guess you’re a fan of hide and seek, Yamada.” Hiva tensed at the voice behind her. “So am I.” Hiva grunted at the sudden force to her body and twisted in the air. She hit a tree, and a crack echoed around the forest. She hit the ground and whimpered, then hissed as her spine put itself back together. She picked her head and body up off the ground, forcing herself to stand. ‘I can do this… right?’ Hiva appeared back in the clearing they arrived at and blocked the attack that shot towards her. The wind that blew with it formed waves in the lake behind her and made the trees bend towards her.
Another attack was quick to follow, and she flew back into the water. She panicked when she fell under and black wrapped around her. She knelt in the clearing and coughed as All For One’s shadow covered her. “Yamada, this is pathetic.” The sudden explosion blasted her back, sending dirt and debris into the air. Attack after attack interrupted Hiva’s every thought and attempt she made to stand. Her body finally gave up, and she laid on the ground, forcing her eyes to stay open so she could at least glare at him as he approached. Her head pounded and got worse with the sudden sound of the helicopter, that seemed to get closer and closer until it hovered right over them, and she groaned. ‘Hate them.’
People were shouting at their screens when they saw the teen sprawled out on the ground. “Come on, Hiva,” Shota mumbled as Vlad shouted, and Nezu jumped and cheered for her. Hizashi kept a protective arm around Hitoshi, and Denki had both arms around one of Hanta’s, his and the other blonde’s eyes glued to the screen while Hanta and Hitoshi found it hard to look.
It seemed like a collective sigh went through everyone in Japan when Hiva got to her knees, only to fall back.
“Stand, Hiva!” Katsuki and Izuku shouted with the group of people around them.
“Hiva….” Hitoshi trailed off. “God… STAND UP!” As if she could hear him through the screen, Hiva rolled onto her hands and knees, looking at All For One with eyes that glowed black.
“You had one purpose,” All For One spoke. Hiva glared at him. “It shouldn’t have to be like this. You’re such a beautiful creation. I never wanted to replace you, Yamada, but I think I somehow knew. Why else would I have Aiko.” The ground shook as Hiva stood, trembling and wobbling side to side for a moment before she forced herself to steady. She held her arm out, and it exploded, gathering back into a cloud of smoke.
“I’m not your project.” She punched into the ground, and All For One was thrown into the air. He slowed to a stop, but Hiva threw her other arm down, making All For One crash back into the earth. “Neither is she.” Fire flew in every direction, drying out the shaking ground and making it crack as the lake began to bubble and steam like a boiling pot. The water rose and flew towards All For One, but he redirected it to Hiva. She held her smoky arm in front of her, and it evaporated immediately.
“I didn’t want to kill you, Yamada, but I’m afraid I’ve been left no choice.” All For One sighed. “It’s a shame, but I could always start over. Springlike Limbs, Kinetic Booster times four, Strength Enhancer times three, Multiplier, Hypertrophy, Rivets, Air Walk, and Spear like Bones. In order to kill you for sure, I will punch you with the ultimate combination of Quirks that I have right now!”
“Overkill much?” Hiva wondered aloud. She sighed and shrugged, crouching down with a smirk. “Go ahead and give it your best shot.” ‘Aza’s letting me use more power than before. Sure, it hurts, but I don’t need to worry about this guy anymore.’
“You know, for a moment, Yamada… I thought you were the holder of One For All, but it’s Midoriya Izuku, isn’t it?” All For Ones fist flew towards the air towards Hiva. Dirt and debris shot up into the air. The dust settles down, but smoke still spun around the clearing, blocking Hiva from view. Laughing broke the silence, and the black smoke gathered together in what seemed to be a fuzzy form of Hiva.
The smoke slowly became solid, and Hiva dropped to the ground. “I’m offended you thought something like that could kill me.” She turned to smoke again and flew into the ground, creating funnels of wind that knocked the helicopter off course and nearly out of the air. She rose again and ran to All For One. He flew back, and there was another large gust of wind. “I’m curious.” The dust settles to show Hiva’s hair floating and her eyes a burning red. “What happens when you have no Quirk?” All For One held his hand out, and Hiva laughed when nothing happened. “Sorry, I couldn’t help myself. After all your teasing, I wanted a turn.” All For One laughed, and Hiva tilted her head.
“Thank you.” Hiva hummed. “You ended the Symbol of Peace. Thank you for fulfilling your purpose.” Hiva froze, and All For One laughed loudly. “What happened to ignoring me? I’m just saying what I have to to get in your head, right?” Hiva’s leg turned to smoke and met the side of All For One’s head a moment later, following through and stomping him into the ground. She stepped back and gasped for breath, watching him to make sure he was unconscious. She sighed and grabbed the back of his suit to lift him up before flying up to touch the helicopter. Hiva let go of the helicopter when they returned and gently landed on the ground before throwing All For One down. It was completely silent until she blinked, hair falling and eyes turning back to purple. Hiva could hear the cheers even from there as a bony hand wrapped around her wrist and forced it into the air.
“You did terrific,” Toshinori complimented quietly. She smiled but couldn’t meet his eyes. “Better than I ever could’ve.” The cheers got louder when his muscular form appeared on the screen to lift Hiva into the air. Everyone was screaming and happy, but Hiva was struggling to breathe.
“Put me down,” she mumbled as she started to squirm with discomfort. “Put me down!” Toshinori quickly did as told and watched her worriedly.
“Are you okay, Hiva?” She just covered her ears to try and block everyone out and looked around in panic. Toshinori placed a hand on her shoulder that she flinched away from. Smoke gathered around her, and she was gone in a second.

Just the Beginning
Rescue before this
Hiva coughed the weird slime-like Quirk from her lungs. “Sorry, Shinso-kun.” She continued to cough into her fist, practically doubled over. She stood straight and met the man’s hidden face, finally processing who was before her.
“A-All For One.”
“You remember. It’s been a while since I saw you last. Just this big.” He put his hand down to signal how small she had been as she stepped back, ignoring the sounds of the villains appearing behind her. Spinner gagged as Himiko put a hand to her mouth like it would stop her from getting sick.
“What the-”
Something stinks! Smells good!” Twice exclaimed.
“Sensei…” Hiva finally turned to look at Tomura.
“You failed again, huh, Tomura?” Hiva held her breath as All For One walked past to get to him. “But do not be discouraged. Just try again.” Hiva finally looked away, turning her attention to the destruction around her, gulping at the injured heroes. “Because you judged that she was an important piece.” All For One put a hand out. “Do it as many times as you need to. That is why I am here. It’s all for you.” Hive tensed at the smell of burnt caramel, the first new sense in her brain, followed by an electrical fire, burnt rubber, oil, spoiled milk, and old blood.
“You’re all terrified,” echoed in the minds of her classmates, making them jump or freeze. “Leave.” Katsuki poked his head up just a bit and locked eyes when Hiva’s darted over. He shook his head, and she sighed, seeing it from the edge of her vision when her eyes darted away.
“Shinso-kun.” All For One stepped up to her. “Why are you afraid?”
“I think that should be obvious,” she replied, voice shaking.
“Why?” Hiva tilted her head a bit. “Why is it obvious? Let me hear what you have to say.” Hiva took a step back when he took one step forward. She just waved her arms around, not knowing what to say. “This is overwhelming, isn’t it?” Hiva nodded.
“Just a bit.”
“I thought you’d be impressed.”
“Jeanist is dying!” Hiva suddenly shouted. “What about that is impressive?”
“Well, you’re quite destructive yourself,” All For One said. “The second I gave you your power, I knew. I knew you were perfect.” Hiva couldn’t move when he stepped up to her. “I’ve yet to receive a thank you.”
“Why would I ever thank you?” Hiva hissed.
“I saved you,” All For One answered. “You would be dead without me.” Hiva shook her head.
“No, you didn’t.” She moved around him and backed away, tripping over Tomura, who caught her, panicking when all five fingers touched her.
“You’re okay…?” Hiva pulled away from him, uncomfortable with the excited look she knew he had hidden behind the hand on his face.
“Shinso-kun,” Hiva froze when she stumbled into All For One’s chest, “you seem to be having some trouble remembering. Why don’t I help you?”
“No!” Hiva and Ayame each yelled, giving the other matching looks of confusion.
“Why would you hide from her what I’ve done to help her?” All For One questioned. “Now she’s scared of me when all I’ve ever wanted was to protect her.”
“She would’ve told her father,” Ayame defended. “I had to protect you.”
“No, you took that day away from her memory to protect her.” Ayame’s confused expression was back.
“Are you kidding? More pain, more power. What weapon isn’t powerful?”
“Ayame, don’t speak of your child in such a way. Hiva flinched at the hand he laid on her shoulder for fake comfort. “However,” he placed his other hand under her chin to make her look up, “you are right.” Both hands went to her head, and she backed away, grunting at the sudden sharp pain. “Don’t fight it, Shinso.”
---
“Mom, I don’t want to be here,” Hiva whined as she looked around. “It feels… bad.” She tried to pull her hand from Ayame’s iron grip. “I’m scared!”
“How do you expect to be a good hero if an empty room scares you?” Ayame questioned. “You’re better than that, Hiva.” A door opened, and Hiva jumped, making Ayame sigh with an eye roll. “Get yourself together.” A man walked forward, but he seemed to be struggling.
“A-Are you okay?” Hiva asked. She couldn’t help herself. The man smiled and crouched down to her height.
“Is this her?” Ayame nodded.
“Yes,” she answered the man’s question, “this is Hiva.” Ayame finally let go of Hiva’s hand. “Hiva, tell him about your Quirk.” Hiva looked away with shame.
“I don’t have one,” she whispered.
“That’s right, you don’t have one. We’re going to fix that today, okay?” Hiva looked up excitedly but then grew suspicious. It seems a little too good to be true. There was always a catch with this woman. Ayame stepped behind the man.
“Ready?” Hiva turned her suspicious look to him.
“What’s the catch?” He laughed much more than he should’ve, and Hiva tensed.
“There’s no catch,” he told her. Hiva stepped forward, and he put a hand on her head. “I’m about to give you a lot of power. Do you think you can handle it?” Hiva hesitated but then nodded.
“I think so.” The man chuckled, and his smile fell away.
“That’s a no.” Hiva tried to step away, but it was too late. Hiva screamed in pain. He pulled his hand away, and she fell to her knees. Her eyes glowed a dim black as tar-colored tears fell down her face. A cloud exploded from her and destroyed all the equipment as she crumbled to the ground.
“It’s done,” he said as he collapsed into a chair.
“It is?” Ayame asked.
“Yes.” It was almost entirely silent, with the only sound coming from Hiva’s whimpers. “It’s okay. You can stand.” Hiva shook her head.
“Get. Up.” All For One reached out to Ayame.
“Be gentle.” He groaned as he stood and held out a hand. “I honestly didn’t expect that. Let me help you up.” He again offered his hand, but Hiva didn’t take it. He sighed before lifting her up and carrying her over to the wall. He put her back down and leaned her back. He sighed again as he straightened himself. “What are you doing in here, Tomura?” The boy standing in the doorway frowned.
“I’m sorry, I heard things, and I just…”
“You got curious?” Tomura nodded. “That’s okay. Curiosity is the base of humanity.” All For One gave the boy a ‘come here’ motion. “Come on.” Tomura did as told and tensed at the purple-haired girl leaning on the wall.
“Who’s that?” She looked up, and he saw that her eyes were completely black. Just endless glowing black.
“Someone you should get to know.” All For One and Ayame left the two alone, and Tomura sat beside her.
“What’s your name?” he asked.
“Hiva,” she whispered. Black blood fell from the corner of her mouth, but she paid no attention to it.
“I’m Tomura.” He studied her for a second. “You’re kinda scary.” Hiva frowned at that. “I like it!” Hiva smiled a bit. “You don’t like heroes either, huh?”
“Why do you think that?”
“So, you do?”
“I like real ones.”
“Real ones? Like All Might, right?” Hiva shook her head at Tomura. The bitterness left his tone. “Then what’s a real hero?”
---
“Such a beautiful experiment,” All For One sighed as he stepped closer to her. Hiva looked up at him but still somehow managed to stare him down. “So much power in you. I don’t like to pick favorites, but you’re my favorite Nomu. I didn’t have to change your body at all! It was so easy with you that I assumed I knew what was wrong. I thought others would be just as easy. Unfortunately, I needed to change them. Well, all others except one.” Hiva fought the urge to take a step back. “I still haven’t gotten my thank you. I did you quite the favor.” Hiva scoffed, and Haruko gave her a worried look. “I think it’s time you repay me. It’s time to do your job.” Hiva slapped his hand away from her.
“I don’t owe you shit,” she told him.
“You owe me everything. Do you really think you could’ve gotten into U.A. without my help? No one would even know your name without me.”
“I don’t want people to know my name,” she replied.
“You’re lying, Shinso-kun.”
“Yamada!” Hiva shouted, surprising herself with her outburst.
“You want people to know you,” All For One taunted. “You want everyone to know your name because you have to prove yourself to everyone. Thanks to me, you can. I made you, and everyone will see you because of it.” Hiva screamed with frustration. The sound forced the villain back, cracking his mask and further destroying the wreckage behind him.
“I created myself,” Hiva growled. “You didn’t do anything for me except give me something I never wanted.” She walked up to All For One and got up in his face. “Considering the shit I was dealing with, I was doing great. All you did was make it worse.”
“You will respect me.”
“Oh, will I? What are you gonna do if I don’t?” Hiva challenged. Aza grew behind her, becoming a beast that towered over them.
“You will do what I ask.” Hiva sucked in a breath.
“But I don’t feel like it,” she whispered. All For One seemed to want to say something but stopped.
“You’re here, after all, aren’t you…?” Hiva turned to where All For One looked and watched All Might soar through the air. He punched at the villain, but All For One grabbed his fists.
“I’ll have you return everything, All For One!” All Might yelled.
“Will you kill me again, All Might?” Aza shrunk down and forced the men away from each other with a wave of its arm. Both turned to Hiva, and she put her hands up.
“Not me.” Aza waved to them, and a large explosion sent everyone flying back.
“You’re pretty late,” All For One taunted. “It’s a little more than five kilometers from the bar to here.” Hiva’s eyes widened when she realized All For One was the only one standing except her. “It was easily 30 seconds after I sent the Nomus before you arrived. You’ve gotten weaker, All Might.”
“What about you? What’s with the industrial mask you’ve got on? Aren’t you overexerting yourself? I won’t make the same mistake as I did six years ago, All For One! I will take Young Hiva back! And this time, I will throw you in prison for sure! And all of the League of Villains you control with you!” All Might lept at All For One, and the villain raised his hand in response.
“There’s so much to do. It’ll be tough… for both of us.” His arm began to swell, and a powerful typhoon blew from his palm, knocking him back through buildings.
“Aza!” Hiva snatched Aza out of the air and threw her arms toward the direction All Might went. Black smoke wrapped around the buildings, lifting the ones that collapsed from the ground and steadying the ones that would follow.
“Air Cannon plus Spring-like Limbs, Kinetic Booster times four, Strength Enhancer times three. This combination is fun. Maybe I’ll try to add a few more enhancer types.” Hiva suddenly felt her feet leave the ground and flew back, taking buildings down as All Might had. She laid there until she felt the bones in her body rearrange and fix themselves. She took a deep breath and stumbled slightly from the numb feeling.
“Alright, let’s do this.” Hiva appeared back on the battlefield and watched All Might dodge whatever Quirk All For One was using. Hiva held her hand out, black swirling around her arm and rushing towards All For One. He was sucked in and then shot out like a cannonball. All Might looked over to Hiva, and she threw her arm down, forcing all the villains to the ground.
“Hiva-”
“Behind you!” she warned, sending black over the hero's head. All For One blew her attack away and used his Quirk to stab into All Might’s back and her chest, forcing them both to the ground. The villains rose to their feet.
“I won’t let you. That’s why I’m here!” All For One threw All Might and pulled Hiva closer to him. When she was close enough, she blew up like a bomb. Black smoke filled the leveled area and forced everyone back. The smoke seemed to reverse, and Hiva appeared again, gasping for breath.
“Impressive, Hiva,” All For One complimented as he stepped through the dust. All Might jumped from the building to All For One. While they fought, Hiva dodged the villains and tried to get to Shigaraki. She dodged Toga’s knives and spun around Shigaraki, lightly grazing his head. ‘Gotcha.’
“Shigaraki,” he jumped at her voice in his head, “I need you to listen to me. I’m trying to keep you all safe. I can’t not hurt you if you’re here. You have to go.” Shigaraki shook his head. “I promise I’ll find you.”
“No!” he shouted.
“Shigaraki, I have to keep up the act. I have to be a hero right now.” Hiva swiped her hand through the air and sent the villains back. “I know a part of you trusts me. I need it to listen to me.” Shigaraki had no response. Hiva ducked under Yuuma’s hand, and she once again made sure to pass Shigaraki.
“Please, Tomura,” she whispered, hand brushing his. He watched her duck away from Compress and sighed. Just then, a large explosion followed by a cliff-like size of ice appeared. Hiva watched the group fly through. Eijiro towards the front, with Tenya, Izuku, and Katsuki acting as propellers. Katsuki and Izuku each held their hands out to her.
“Veeves!” Izuku called. Hiva shook her head and held her hand toward where they had been hiding. Black surrounded Shoto and Momo and flung them up to the group in the air.
“I told you to get out of here!” The black spread to all of them, and she winced at the scream of fury Katsuki released before they all disappeared from view.
“We’re leaving!” Shigaraki called.
“What?!” Ayame screeched. “We can’t! We’re-” She stopped when Shigaraki turned to her. Before they could go, Gran Torino attacked Twice, Spinner, and Magne, knocking them all to the ground.
“That was a stupid thing to do, kid,” he told Hiva. She nodded.
“I know, but this fight with All For One isn’t just All Might's.”
“You’ll get yourself killed. You have the power to leave.”
“Which means I have the power to win.”
“You’re too slow!” All Might exclaimed as Gran Torino dropped to the ground.
“You’re too fast! Hey, Midoriya’s really turning out to be more and more like you. In a bad way!”
“All Might!” The hero turned to Hiva. “Don’t hold back, just stay out of my way. Don’t want you breaking a hip or something, do we, old man?” Hiva sent him a teasing grin, and he sighed.
“You should have gone.”
“I already heard that!” she shouted. “This is my fight, too!”
“No, it isn’t!” She shook her head at him.
“You have no right to decide what does and doesn’t include me."
“Shimura’s friend, huh?” Hiva’s head snapped to where All For One was sitting in the rubble. All Might coughed into his hand, and Hiva swallowed her gulp.
“It’s shameful, but with this, I can defeat you without reserve, All For One!”
“We’ve got five left here, too!” Gran Torino called while staring at Ayame, Yuuma, Kai, Shigaraki, and Toga. “I’ll end this!”
“Tomura, I don’t want this to end!” Toga whined.
“They got us,” All For One said. “They neatly turned the tables on us in one move.” The Quirk he used before went Over All Might’s shoulder and into Magne’s chest. “Forcible Quirk Activation! Magnetism!” Gran Torino jumped towards Shigaraki.
“Turn to dust!” Before either could make contact, Shigaraki was dragged back. The men flew towards Toga and Ayame, and they all fell through the warp gate as Shigaraki continued to fight. “With that body, you’ll- No!” Tomura was finally pulled through. “I’m… not…”
“Tomura… You must keep fighting.” All Might lept at All For One. “‘Warping’. Plus ‘Shock Inversion!’” Hiva saw what he was doing before All Might and appeared in front of his punch, shielding Gran Torino and watching his arm fly back from the recoil.
“I-I’m sorry!” he apologized. Hiva pulled Gran Torino from the warp and placed him on the ground, far from the fight.
“Are you okay?” The hero merely nodded as she stood to turn back to the fight. ‘How did she do that? When you’re high on endorphins, it’s hard to recognize pain, but that… She didn't even stumble.’
“I only came to save Tomura, but if you say you’re going to fight, then I will, too. In the past, that fist crushed one after another of my comrades, and you were extolled as the Symbol of Peace. The view you had from atop our sacrifices… It must have been a great one.”
“Detroit… Smash!” All Might’s fist met All For One's palm, and Hiva waved her hand, creating a wall to protect the older hero from the backlash of their matching power. Hiva rose from All For One’s shadow and flew up using the same air cannon he had used earlier, forcing him into the ground. ‘I don’t know if All Might can do this alone, but I can’t say that. If I could be certain, I would’ve left. Something just feels wrong.’ All For One floated and landed gently on his feet.
“I won’t let you fight without reserve,” Al For One said. “Either of you. Heroes have a lot of things they need to protect, don’t they?”
“Shut up…” ‘People are getting injured because of this fight. How many have already died? How many will?’
“You always toy with people like that! You break them! Scoffing irrationally at the people just trying to live their lives.” All Might jumped forward and grabbed All For One’s arm before he could react. “I cannot…”
“Oh no… time for Warping…”
“… forgive that!” All Might yelled. His fist met All For One’s mask, shattering it instantly and forcing him to the ground. ‘It’s not over yet. That wouldn’t finish it. If All Might can get that close, I could too. I have been, I've just been playing it too safe. I can get him somewhere away from people so no one else can get caught in the crossfire.’
“Toshinori…” Torino wheezed. “You’ve reached your limit…!”
“What’s wrong?” All For One taunted. “You seem to be very worked up about something, All Might. I heard the same line before…” All For One laughed, and All Might gasped, “… from the previous One For All successor… Shimura Nana.”

Rescue
Villains before this
A/N: I'm going to try and get back into writing. I'm trying to publish chapters on Mondays. It definitely won't be every Monday because I have a lot with school, work, and just life in general, but I'm going to do my best and work on it whenever I have time. I feel like this is pretty crappy but I'm hoping the chapters will get better when I get back to a consistent writing schedule.
Third Person P.o.V
“Oh, Midoriya, you’re awake!” Denki exclaimed when he opened the door.
“Did you see the news? The media’s swarming the school right now.”
“It’s way worse than in the spring.” Most of Class 1-A entered Izuku’s hospital room.
“We’ve got a melon!” Minoru announced. “We bought it together! A big melon!” Katsuki stood in the corner, away from the large group around Izuku’s hospital bed.
“I caused you trouble, Midoriya…” Fumikage spoke up.
“No, I did, too…” Izuku mumbled. “Did everyone from Class A come?”
“No, Jiro-kun and Hagakure-kun are still being monitored,” Tenya answered. “So is Yaoyorozu-kun. Though Hiva healed her head, they wanted to watch her to be sure there were no lasting effects. That’s why you’re still here as well.” Izuku nodded. Even after Hiva’s healing, his arm felt stiff and hard to move. “So, everyone but those three came…”
“Seventeen of us…” Ochako added.
“Because Hiva’s not here,” Shoto finished.
“Hey, Todoroki!” Mina gasped. Hanta bit his lip, and Denki gave him a little nudge and a comforting smile.
“All Might said, ‘I can’t save the people I can’t reach,’” Izuku quoted. “That’s why he will always save those he can reach… I had to save her… That’s what my Quirk is for… It’s exactly like what Aizawa-sensei said to me. My body… wouldn't move… It was all I could do to save Kota… Even then, I had Veeves to help me… I couldn’t save someone right in front of me…”
“Then let’s save her this time,” Eijiro stated. Katsuki straightened up at this while others gasped. “Actually, Todoroki and I were here yesterday, too. On our way to your room, we saw All Might and a police officer talking to Yaoyorozu.”
“Does that mean you’re going to have Yaoyorozu-kun make another receiver?” Tenya guessed.
“What if it does?” Shoto challenged. Tenya grit his teeth before shouting.
“This is as All Might said! This is something we should leave to the pros! This isn’t the place for us to act, you idiots!”
“We know that!” Eijiro yelled back. “But I couldn’t do anything! After I heard that my friend was being targeted! After I had her right in front of me! I couldn't do anything! I didn’t do anything! If I don’t do anything now, I won’t be a hero or a man anymore!”
“Kirishima, we’re in a hospital,” Denki reminded. “Calm down. We all feel strongly about this, but-”
“It’s not your fault,” Hanta cut in. “It’s- ow!” Hanta pouted down at the one responsible for pinching the back of his hand, and Denki glared up at him.
“Iida-chan is correct,” Tsuyu suddenly spoke up.
“Iida, all of you, you’re all correct. I know that… But!” Eijiro turned to Izuku and held out his hand. “Hey, Midoriya, your hand can still reach! We can go save her!” Katsuki sighed.
“You know she’d never let us help her,” he mumbled. Eijiro turned to him, somewhat surprised he’d sign up for this task.
“What do you mean?” he asked. The blonde sighed again, this time with an eye roll as well.
“She knew what she was doing,” Katsuki explained. “She didn’t act like it, but her mind was much clearer than you all thought.”
“Are you trying to say she’s a villain?” Eijiro questioned. “That she joined them willingly?”
“I’m saying she’s important to them, and she knows it. The only ones in danger will be the morons trying to save her. If the villains don’t kill you, she will for ruining her plan.”
“It’s not a job for her to be doing!” Tenya exclaimed. “It’s for the pros.”
“If she makes one mistake, she could be in danger,” Shoto argued. “Think of who she’s trapped there with. She’ll forgive us when she realizes what could actually go wrong.” Katsuki shook his head.
“You’re acting selfishly,” he spat.
“You, the most selfish person in this room, cannot accuse me of acting selfishly,” Shoto replied. Katsuki pushed off the wall, and Shoto’s stance changed to match his.
“So, in short,” Mina spoke up, attempting to stop their possible fight, “you’re planning on getting the receiver from Yao-momo, following it, and going to save Hiva yourselves?”
“Yeah,” Eijiro said.
“Even though the villains said we were targets to be killed, they took Hiva without killing her,” Shoto continued.
“Because she’s important!” Katsuki repeated.
“They probably let her live, but that doesn’t mean they won’t kill her eventually,” Shoto went on. “Kirishima and I are going.”
“Do you really think they could kill her?” Katsuki questioned. “It’s Hiva. We should be worried about the villains.”
“Hey, that’s what Shinso said!” Denki exclaimed.
“Don’t go overboard with your messing around!” Katsuki groaned at Tenya.
“Wait, calm down,” Mezo ordered. “I understand Kirishima’s frustration at not being able to do anything and Todoroki’s frustration at having her stolen in front of his very eyes. I’m frustrated too. But this isn’t a situation where we should act on our emotions. Right?” 'Squidward gets it.' Katsuki thought as he fell back against the wall.
“L-Let’s leave this to All Might…” Yuga stuttered. “Aizawa-sensei’s permission to fight at the training camp has been rescinded, too.”
“Aoyama’s right,” Fumikage agreed. “I can’t say much since I was the one who needed saving, though…”
“But-”
“Everyone, we’re all shocked by Hiva’s kidnapping,” Tsuyu interrupted Eijiro. “But let’s think things through calmly. No matter how just your feelings, if you’re saying you’ll fight again… That you’ll break the rules… Those acts are the same as those of villains.” It was silent until there was a knock on the door. Yuga jumped at the sound, and a doctor slid the door open.
“Sorry to interrupt… it’s time for Midoriya-kun’s exam.”
“Wh-Why don’t we go?” Hanta suggested with a thumb pointed over his shoulder. “I want to see how Jiro and Hagakure are doing, too.”
“Oh, yeah,” Mashirao agreed.
“Deku-kun, feel better soon,” Ochako said on her way out.
“Thanks, all of you.”
“We talked to Yaoyorozu yesterday,” Eijiro mumbled to Izuku before leaving. “If we go, we go right away. Tonight. Since you were seriously injured, I don’t know if you can move, but we still wanted to invite you because you’re probably the most frustrated out of everyone.” He turned to Katsuki, who was still leaning against the wall to listen. “You are as well.” Katsuki scoffed and finally pushed off the wall to walk out.
“Hiva doesn’t need the help of extras like you,” he insulted. “All you’ll do is piss her off and ruin what she was ready to die for.”
“If you change your mind,” Eijiro turned from the blonde to Izuku, “we’ll be waiting in front of the hospital tonight.” Katsuki scoffed again and finally exited.
“Bakugo.” He huffed at Shoto’s voice. “We need you there.”
“Too bad.”
“Maybe you’re right,” Shoto continued anyway. “Maybe she doesn’t need the help of us ‘extras', but she does need yours.” Katsuki hesitated but shook the quick sinking feeling away. “I think you owe it to her.” Shoto walked away, but Katsuki stayed frozen as that guilty sinking feeling made a quick return.
“Damn it,” he growled, finally walking off.
---
Hanta and Denki ran down the sidewalk. “Perfect!” Denki shouted when he saw Hitoshi on the small front lawn. Hitoshi turned to see where the sudden sound came from and stepped back when the two nearly ran into him. Denki put a hand on Hitoshi’s shoulder to steady himself as Hanta doubled over and gasped for breath. “I knew we’d find you here.”
“I live here,” Hitoshi pointed out. “I feel like you practically live here.”
“Correct.” Hitoshi raised an eyebrow and looked down at Hanta, who was now lying on his back.
“This family makes us do a lot of cardio,” Hanta panted. “How are you right in the middle of everything?”
“For convenience,” Denki replied.
“What is going on?” Hitoshi asked.
“Todoroki and Kirishima.” Hitoshi nodded at Denki to continue. “They’re planning a rescue.” Hitoshi squinted at him.
“Rescue?” Denki nodded.
“For Hiva,” Hanta added, still on the ground. “They’re trying to make Yao-momo make another receiver, so they can find where the villains are and hopefully where Hiva is.”
“That’s stupid,” Hitoshi said. Denki nodded.
“That’s what we said,” he agreed. “She’d be angry we even thought of it. You in?”
“No!” Hitoshi exclaimed.
“Really?”
“You didn’t make a good argument, sparky,” Hanta stated.
“You really didn’t,” Hitoshi confirmed. “Even if you did, I’d still say no. I’m not getting in her way.” Hitoshi sighed and looked around before crouching down to Hanta, motioning Denki to do the same. “Besides, I happened to hear those two talking,” Hitoshi nodded towards the house to show he meant his parents, “and it sounds like the heroes are planning their own rescue. She’s gonna be home and fine by the end of the night.” The other two sighed, relieved smiles crossing their faces. “So come in.” Denki tilted his head, and Hanta angled his back to get a better look at the purple-haired teen. “Don’t you lover boys wanna see her when she gets back?” Hitoshi stood and walked towards the door.
“‘Boys’?” Hanta repeated.
“You’re not exactly a master at hiding your crushes,” Denki said, holding a hand out to help Hanta up from the ground.
---
Katsuki laid on his bed and stared at the ceiling. “Damn it, icyhot.” He sat up and sighed. “‘I think you owe it to her’? What’s he trying to say?” He sighed again and rubbed a hand over his face. “God damn it!” Katsuki dramatically rolled out of bed and stomped down the stairs, cursing Shoto for successfully guilt-tripping him.
---
Katsuki got to the hospital in time to see his classmates frozen on the sidewalk as they spoke. “Oi!” he called when they started walking again. All eyes landed on him, and he glared as he marched up to the group. “Where do you think you’re going?”
“Kacchan!” Izuku gasped.
“I thought you weren’t coming,” Eijiro said. “You were against it almost as much as Iida.” Katsuki clicked his tongue at the redhead and turned to Momo.
“Minds change,” he muttered. “Where are we going?” Shoto tilted his head at the odd behavior. “Stop staring at me, icyhot!”
---
The coordinates on the receiver indicate Camino Ward, Yokohama City in Kanagawa Prefecture,” Momo informed from her seat on the train. Since we’re leaving from Nagano, it will take about two hours. We should arrive around ten o’clock.”
“Um, did you tell everyone that we would leave tonight?” Izuku asked.
“Yeah,” Shoto answered. “They tried even harder to stop us when we told them, though.”
“After that, Uraraka said something pretty harsh, too,” Eijiro added. “‘I think Hiva will feel humiliated that she had to be saved by everyone,’ she said.” He looked at the blonde beside him. “So, what you’d been saying, basically.”
“Just to make sure, you know that what we’re doing is selfish and that no one wants us to do it, right?” Shoto asked from Katsuki’s other side. “You can still turn back if you want to.” Katsuki’s eyes went wide with fury.
“Wow, it’s almost as if someone said that!” he cried sarcastically. “I can’t imagine who!”
“If I were hesitating then I wouldn’t’ve said I’d do it in the first place!” Ejiro stated, ignoring Katsuki's words. “She’s not someone who’d let the villains do whatever they want with her.”
“What about you, Midoriya?” Shoto questioned.
“I… I cannot turn back.”
“I see… Alright.”
---
“So, this is Camino Ward?” Izuku wondered. “There are a lot of people.”
“So those guys are hiding somewhere in this city?” Eijiro asked. “Okay, where are they, Yaoyorozu?!” Katsuki grabbed the back of Eijiro’s shirt when he tried to run off.
“Wait a minute!” Momo ordered. “From here on out, we must be very, very careful. The villains know what we look like, remember? We must also consider that we may be attacked at any moment.”
“Got it!” Izuku exclaimed before crossing his arms over his face. “Gotta be covert!”
“That makes you stand out more, Midoriya,” Shoto told him.
“But at this rate, we won’t be able to scout very easily,” Tenya said.
“Then what are we supposed to do?” Eijiro questioned.
“If it’s something you guys are all worried about,” Katsuki turned to Momo as he spoke, “why don’t you just make us some disguises?” Momo pointed behind her instead of agreeing.
“I have a similar suggestion.” Katsuki’s eye twitched as he reluctantly followed the rest of the group into the store.
---
“Hey, you!” Izuku yelled as he exited the changing room. Shoto stepped out in his own disguise, and Momo did the same a moment later.
“What are these clothes?” Tenya asked.
“I’ll tell ya later,” Eijiro answered. Katsuki swiped the curtain out of his way with an aggravated sigh. He had a disguise similar to Eijiro’s, with a fedora over his spiky blonde hair that he wanted to throw to the ground. He cringed as Izuku and Tenya shouted as they exited the shop.
“Kids would stand out in the shopping district at night, right?” Momo guessed.
“And you didn’t just use your Quirk because…?” Katsuki trailed off, voice clearly showing his annoyance.
“Th-Th-That’s against the rules!” Momo stuttered. “If I make anything I want with my Quirk, then circulation of money and… That’s right, as a citizen of this nation, I must increase the flow of money in the economy!”
“I see,” Shoto said, accepting the excuse.
“So, you just wanted to shop,” Katsuki corrected. Momo smiled guiltily.
“Everyone, our destination is this way-” Momo was interrupted by a stranger shouting.
“Woah, it’s U.A.!”
“H-Hey!” Izuku exclaimed as he turned, tensing at the image on the screen.
“And now, please watch a clip from U.A. High School’s apology press conference that just occurred.”
“Aizawa-sensei…” Izuku muttered as he and the others pushed through the crowd for a better look.
“And even the principal!” Momo gasped.
“We deeply apologize for the incident that allowed harm to come to 28 first years of the hero course because of our unpreparedness,” Shota stated. “We apologize for causing unease in society due to our negligence in properly defending ourselves as a place of learning. We are truly sorry.” All three men on screen, Shota, Nezu, and Vlad, bowed.
“Aizawa-sensei, who hates being on TV, is…” Eijiro stopped speaking when a reporter stood to ask a question.
“I’m from Yomiuri TV. Since the beginning of the year, U.A. High School students have had four encounters with villains. This time, there were even students injured. How did you explain to their families, and what are some specific countermeasures you are taking?”
“Treating them like the bad guy…?” Izuku whispered.
“After what happened, it’s easy to do,” Katsuki mumbled to himself. “A hero in training did more than the professionals.” Nezu decided to answer the reporter’s question.
“We will increase policing in the surrounding area and review the security within the school, ensuring the students’ safety with a strong position. That is what we told them.”
“Huh? What are these guys saying?”
“They’re not being protected at all.”
“Hero schools aren’t usually defeated by villains…”
“How’s that supposed to ensure anything?”
“Aren’t they just trying to protect themselves?” Katsuki watched the others look around worriedly as the people muttered.
“Hey!” The teens’ eyes shifted to him. “Let’s go. You’re getting distracted.” He pointed in the direction Momo did before. “This way, right?”
---
“This is the spot the receiver is showing,” Momo told the group.
“So that’s their hideout,” Eijiro guessed. “It really looks like one!”
“I don’t know if it’s their hideout or not, but from what I can see on the receiver, the villain has not left here for the past day,” Momo informed. “Also, just because the villain is here doesn’t mean Hiva is. We are here with very little to go on. Please think about that objectively.”
“We don’t have anyone who excels at sneaking around, like Jiro-kun or Hagakure-kun, with us,” Tenya continued. “If I think it’s even the least bit dangerous, I will stop you immediately. Because I’m your friend, I will not hesitate to call the police, either.”
“Snitch,” Katsuki scoffed to himself, earning a nudge to the shoulder from Eijiro.
“Thanks, Iida-kun,” Izuku muttered. “What can we do with what we have…? I’ve gotta think. The prerequisite is that we not use our Quirks or fight with the villains. On top of that, we need to figure out if Veeves is in that building or not.”
“It’s been a while since I’ve seen that muttering,” Eijiro mumbled.
“It really feels like Midoriya-san,” Momo added.
“Like Iida-kun said, we don’t have anyone with a good scouting Quirk like Jiro or Shoji, so…”
---
“There’s no reaction even though we’ve gotten this close,” Momo observed.
“The lights aren’t on, either,” Eijiro pointed out. “It doesn’t look like anyone’s in there.”
“To hide a tree, use the forest…” Shoto said. “I guess they’re hiding as an abandoned warehouse.”
“Hey, what’re ya doin’, hostess?” Momo jumped at the sudden voice, and the others whipped around. “Come drink wit’ us!” Katsuki grabbed the drunk by his collar and pulled him closer to glare down into his eyes.
“What did you say?” he growled. His friend pulled him away and then slapped the back of his head.
“Yeah, stop that idiot!”
“Let’s get away from here for now,” Shoto suggested as he walked off. Katsuki watched the duo angrily and stuck to the end of the group, mumbling about ‘those dumbasses’.
---
“There aren’t many people walking by, but there are some,” Shoto began.
“We can’t do anything to stand out,” Momo continued. Shoto gave Katsuki a look, and the blonde raised an eyebrow, silently daring him to say something. “What should we do?”
“Let’s try going around to the back,” Izuku suggested. “No matter how little information we have on this place, it’s all we’ve got.” The group crossed the street and ducked into the small alley.
“This is very narrow…” Momo complained. “I feel like I will get stuck…”
“We can’t move until we know for sure it’s safe,” Izuku told her and the others. “No one will see us here, and at that height, we should be able to see inside, too!”
“Will we be able to see anything in this darkness?” Shoto asked, eyeing the window with the others.
“I can make a night vision scope-”
“Wait, Yaoyorozu!” Eijiro cut her off. “Actually, I brought one with me…”
“Wow, why?” Izuku questioned. Katsuki wished there was enough space to lean back and give the boy an ‘are you stupid’ look from behind Momo.
“When I thought about what we’d have to do, I thought we’d need it.”
“But Isn’t that super expensive?” Izuku pried. “I did research on them online when I was thinking about my costume, but if I remember correctly, they cost around fifty thousand yen…”
“Who cares how much they cost? Stop talking about it!”
“Okay, then Midoriya and Kirishima, you two look through it,” Shoto ordered. “Iida and I will carry you on our shoulders.”
“It’s really cramped,” Izuku whispered.
“Don’t lean forward so much,” Tenya advised. “I want to make sure we can run the second we think it’s dangerous.”
“Iida, can you move back a little?” Eijiro requested.
“Tell us what you see, Kirishima-kun, what’s inside?”
“It’s just dirty… I don’t really see anything…” Eijiro suddenly gasped and nearly fell backward from shock.
“Kirishima-kun?!” Izuku worried.
“What’s wrong? What can you see, Kirishima?” Shoto asked.
“In the back on the left…! Midoriya, look in the back on the left!” Katsuki looked from the boys to Momo and back up. Izuku took the scope and did as told.
“No way… Are those… all…”
“Spit it out, Deku!” Katsuki growled.
“Nomu?!” Katsuki shut his mouth quickly at that.
“Hey!” All attention went to Eijiro and then over to where he had been looking to see a truck rising in the air.
“That’s…!” Izuku was cut off when Mount Lady’s attack knocked him and the others to the ground.
“Wh-What happened?!” Tenya groaned. He lifted Eijiro onto his shoulders again, and Katsuki raised Momo so she could get a good view.
“Mout Lady and Gang Orca…” Eijiro identified, “… and even the number four hero, Best Jeanist?”
“Mr. Tiger is there, too,” Momo added. Katsuki and Tenya let the two down.
“Ugh, are these really alive?” Mount Lay gagged. “Is it really okay for our job to be this easy, Jeanist-san? Maybe we should’ve gone with All Might.”
“Don’t think about difficulty and importance together, newcomer,” Jeanist lectured. “Riot squad, get the Maidens ready. They might still be here. Please continue to give it your all.”
“Yes, sir!”
“The heroes were already moving way before we were!” Tenya whispered.
“Wow…!”
“Now, let us fall back immediately. There’s nothing left for us to do now.”
“Since she said ‘with All Might,' does that mean Veeves is there too?” Izuku wondered.
“If All Might is there, then there’s even more reason to rest easy,” Momo assured. “Now, hurry!”
“Right,” Shoto mumbled. Izuku froze, and Shoto stopped to look back at him. The sound of footsteps could be heard, and the rest of the students came to a stop.
“Sorry, Tiger. She’s always had a good Quirk. It was the perfect opportunity, so I took it.”
“Are you with the League?” Gang Orca questioned.
“Alright, someone…” Tiger spoke up.
“After my body turned into this, I also depleted a lot of what I’d stocked up…” the voice continued.
“Stop! Don’t move!” Gang Orca ordered. The footsteps continued forward, so Jeanist pinned his limbs together.
“Wait, Best Jeanist-san, what if he was an ordinary citizen?!” Mount Lady stressed.
“Think about the situation,” Jeanist replied. “That instant of hesitation could decide the fight. Don't let the villains do anything.” A large attack suddenly went off like an explosion, creating a cloud that blocked everything from view.
