to get back at steve for being a manwhore(/affectionate), she gets with nancy
obsessed with the idea that as soon Steve Harrington realizes that he is bi he skips over the internalized homophobia and the denial and goes straight (not! lol) to boyfriend. He tells Robin he has a crush on Eddie while he drives her to school in the morning and by the time they have their shift in the afternoon he is already Wayne's son in law. He gets over the whole crisis stuff in like 5 mins and panics instead over where he will take Eddie on their first date. He realized he really wants to run his hands through Eddie's hair (in a gay way) and half an hour later he already has his tongue down his throat.

this is probably the most amazing, in-depth, cohesive analysis ive ever seen.
In defense of Gwen in Across the Spider-Verse
Okay. First of all: This post is gonna be super long and have tons of spoilers so if you donât want to get spoiled for Across the Spider-Verse then donât read this post.
I have seen way too many people hate on Gwen because of her actions and her behavior towards Miles in Across the Spider-Verse. Iâll show you why that hate completely misses her arc in the movie and her true intentions/relationship with Miles. This post will also delve into Gwiles/Ghostflower since that is a big part of what shapes her intentions.Â
Many people say Gwen betrayed Miles and doesnât really care about him. They say Miles shouldnât forgive her and that she is a snake for what she did. Iâll show you why the opposite is true by going through the events of the movie in cronological order:
The movie literally starts off with Gwen talking about Miles. She is drumming away, which is, mentioned by herself, a way for her to cope with her feelings. That opening from Gwen is a small glimpse into her head. We see how she feels and what she thinks. The interesting thing is that itâs basically Gwen broadly narrating the events of the entire movie. We even see glimpses of future scenes in that intro. The line of narration that is most important here is Gwen saying âI didnât want to hurt him. But I did. And he is not the only one.â This shows us IMMEDIATELY that Gwen did not intend to hurt Miles AT ALL. Quite the contrary. It also shows that she is AWARE she hurt Miles. She knows she fucked up. That is going to be important later on when she needs to make the tough decision regarding Miles/The Spider Society.Â

this is not a hot take, THIS IS THE TRUTH.
hot take:
if u hate gwen, u should hate miguel.
bro tried to wipe out a FIFTEEN YEAR OLD because he wanted to save his dad. Gwen was gunned down by her dad, framed for the murder of her best friend, had to leave her universe because of that, was constantly under the pressure of both Jessica and Miguel to do the âright thingâ, and she had to battle that with the need to protect MilesâAKA HER ONLY OTHER FRIENDâas well.
u cannot be understanding of a grown ass man tryna kill a literal child, and then bash on another child for just trying to reach the standards people keep setting for her while having zero guidance whatsoever.

the misogyny is showing.
Gwen during ITSV:Â âSince I lost my best friend I donât do friends anymoreâ
Gwen during ATSV: *acts socially inept due to having no consistent friends other than Miles who she hasnât seen in over a year*
Everybody:Â âWhy does Gwen act like that wtf is her problemâ

exactly like why yall defending him
Sorry Miguel, but âI took the place of a version of me that died to live the life I thought I deservedâ is not equivalent to âI saved a few lives in another universe and would like for my dad to not die in mine pleaseâ Dawg.

FINALLY SOMEONE GETS IT.
Across the Spider-verse spoilers///
Miguel fine af but Miles really shouldâve beat his fat ass harder cuz wtf you mean calling him a mistake and blaming him for his Peter dying?? Iâm sorry that pissed me off so much like Miles didnât ask to get bit. Miles isnât the one who made the collider, Miles didnât bring Earth 42âs spider to his world GOD.
Thereâs a lot of anger, resentment, projecting and borderline envy going on. But I really liked how complex Miguel was in this movie. But some of yâall need to see he is wrong or at the very least, his way of going about things is wrong. Also explain to me why Iâve seen more hate targeted towards Gwen, someone who was conflicted the entire movie and Jess. Who shouldâve stuck up for Gwen but clearly shows remorse at the end. More than Miguel bro make it make sense.
If youâre able to understand where Miguel is coming from, why canât you also understand Gwen? Or did people straight up ignore the first 15 minutes of the movie? Like I too was disappointed with Gwenâs lying but one of the main reasons she did all this IS SO SHE DOESNâT GET SENT BACK HOME.
Where her father knows her identity and tried to arrest her. Where she currently has nowhere to live and crashes at Hobieâs place. How about we call out the adults that used that as leverage against a 16-17 year old, adults that watched it all go down too. Like people act like she had it against Miles when you see clearly that she only wants to protect him. She canât lose another friend and obviously it backfired on her.
This is an amazing film but Iâve heard some absolutely dumb takes already. Some going as far to call Miguel racist WHICH MAKES NO FUCKING SENSE. Yeah we were joking and there are obvious metaphors to the âMiles being a Afro-latino Spider Man backlashâ but no idiot, he doesnât hate black people. Miles could be any race Miguel would still react the way he did.

á´ÉŞá´ęą ę°á´Ę á´ĄĘÉŞá´á´Ęęą [ę°Ęá´á´ á´ á´ĄĘÉŞá´á´Ę]
don't let your skill in writing deter you. publishers look for the storyline, not always excellent writing. many of the greatest books came from mediocre writersâand also excellent and terrible ones.
keep writing even when it sucks. you don't know how to write this battle scene yet? skip ahead. write [battle scene here] and continue. in the end, you'll still have a bookâand you can fill in the blanks later.
find your motivation. whether it's constantly updating That One Friend or posting your progress, motivation is key.
write everything down. everything. you had the perfect plot appear to you in a dream? scribble down everything you can remember as so as you can. I like to keep cue cards on my nightstand just in case.
play with words. titles, sentences, whatever. a lot of it will probably change either way, so this is the perfect opportunity to try out a new turn of phraseâor move along on one you're not quite sure clicks yet.
explain why, don't tell me. if something is the most beautiful thing a character's ever laid eyes on, describe itâdon't just say "it's beautiful".
ask for critique. you will always be partial to your writing. getting others to read it will almost always provide feedback to help you write even better.
stick to the bookâuntil they snap. write a character who is disciplined, courteous, and kind. make every interaction to reinforce the reader's view as such. but when they're left alone, when their closest friend betrays them, when the world falls to their feet...make them finally break.
magic. has. limits. there is no "infinite well" for everyone to draw from, nor "infinite spells" that have been discovered. magic has a price. magic has a limit. it takes a toll on the userâotherwise why can't they simply snap their fingers and make everything go their way?
read, read, read. reading is the source of inspiration.
first drafts suck. and that's putting it gently. ignoring all the typos, unfinished sentences, and blatant breaking of each and every grammar rules, there's still a lot of terrible. the point of drafts is to progress and make it better: it's the sketch beneath an oil painting. it's okay to say it's not greatâbut that won't mean the ideas and inspiration are not there. first drafts suck, and that's how you get better.
write every day. get into the habitâone sentence more, or one hundred pages, both will train you to improve.
more is the key to improvement. more writing, more reading, more feedback, and you can only get better. writing is a skill, not a talent, and it's something that grows with you.
follow the rules but also scrap them completely. as barbossa wisely says in PotC, "the code is more what you'd call 'guidelines' than actual rules". none of this is by the book, as ironic as that may be.
write for yourself. I cannot stress this enough. if what you do is not something you enjoy, it will only get harder. push yourself, but know your limits. know when you need to take a break, and when you need to try again. write for yourself, and you will put out your best work.

I wanna write a story where the love interest is first described as a reserved, quiet, blunt person, who always wears black, or grey, or generally dark colors.
As the story progresses, and the MC provides a more positive influence on them, they start to become more open. They laugh and smile in public(itâs the cutest thing the MC has ever seen). They start wearing more colorful outfits.
And by the end of the story, the MC and the love interest are holding hands, smiling ear-to-ear, wearing matching colorful outfits.

WELLNOW ITâS ON MY MIND TOO
Max deciding Robin is her surrogate big sister now. Max realising Robin is crushing on Nancy. Max realising Nancy is crushing on Robin. Max trying to get them together and recruiting Steve to help once he realises it too. Max being thrilled when they do get together.
Just Max and Robin basically being the equivalent of Steve and Dustin is on my mind a lot today.
