it totally did not take me like 4 months to finish this book 😭 i honestly dont know what took me so long but when i properly sat down as just read for hours i got super into it

i dont really remember/understand what happened in the first few chapters of the book but i really started to enjoy the story when Nelly was retelling the events of what happened to the lockwood guy (i dont know who he is)

as the story went on a was actually rather surprised by how horrible heathcliff was like he didnt seem all that bad just going off the blurb and i didnt expect his whole revenge business to be that awful AND THE DIGGING UP CATHRINE'S GRAVE STUFF?!?!?!?!!

it was interesting to see just how the 2 houses were connected and the relationship between all the characters tho it was a bit strange for heathcliff and catherine to be in love given that they were brought up as siblings AND THEN THE COUSINS WERE ROMANCING AND I WAS LIKE?????? obviously it was different in the 1800s 💀

my fave characters would probably have to be Nelly and Cathy jr, their relationship was so sweet to me ❤️

one thing that had me quite confused thoughout the book was how/why everyone kept getting sick like i didnt understand that idk i also found myself unsure about everyones ages while the events were playing out AND JOSEPH'S SPEECH WAS SO STRANGE AS WELL (i forget that this novel was set in the north) the ending was a little bit lackluster in my opinion but it wasnt the absolute worst

i think i'll have to reread this book at some point to properly absorb the story but for the most part it was really well written

The Umbrella Academy Season 3 ☂️

i last week finished watching the third season woo !! i used to be so obsessed with tua after watching season 1 that i even ended up getting all the volumes of the comics 😅 after watching season 3 i also reread all the comics back to back in like one sitting lol (spoilers for both the show and the comics coming up 🫣)

im gonna try my best to not make this sound super confusing when i talk about both season 3 of the show and volume 3 of the comics lol ------------------------------- the comic ---------------------------------so i went into season 3 having not previously read the 3rd volume of the comics meaning i had no idea what would happen, though i did know that the idea of hotel obsidian/oblivion was based off the comics BUT!! i found that the 3rd season of the show practically had nothing to do with the comics other than the title 😭 the plots of the show and comics across all seasons and volumes are both very different and season 3 was the most unlike its corresponding comic. one of the main differences being that the sparrow academy are only introduced at the end of volume 3 of the comics so i honestly dont know where the whole storyline for the 3rd season of the show came from i personally found the plot of the 3rd volume of the comic quite confusing and hard to follow as the perspectives and locations kept changing a lot so im actually rather glad that they chose not to portray the events of this comic in the show. that being said, i did like how each of umbrella siblings had their own storylines/adventures that they were on. probably my favourite storyline in the comics is vanya's ongoing recovery from volume one of the comics and also the pairing of five and allison which happens throughout the comics. i also like that luther and diego's rivalry is present across the comics. ------------------------------- the show --------------------------------- in the show, i find the characters to be much more likeable and more full of personality compared to the comics so season 3 did not disappoint in that respect. it was cool to see aspects of the comics continue to be translated into the show for example allison's reluctance to use her powers is a big thing in both medias AND IM SO GLAD THAT KLAUS FINALLY GOT TO USE THE FULL POTENTIAL OF HIS POWERS IN THE SHOW 😭😭😭 all the other character progression among the umbrella siblings is great as well!!! (we love senior citizen five) i liked the sparrows though some of them did not get much screen time and a few of their powers were a bit lame in my opinion 💀 (marcus and alphonso i am looking at you, sorry not sorry) i love love LOVE fei tho she is sooooo coool and christopher being just a random floating cube is so silly to me plus if you think about it, um some woman gave birth to that?!?!?!?! seeing sparrow ben just get subtly accepted by the umbrella siblings was so sweet like they were lowkey all just so happy to see ben again even if he's different. OH AND SPEAKING OF ACCEPTING!!!!! VIKTOR HARGREEVES 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 madddd props to the producers/writers of the show for giving elliot page a trans character and doing it in such a good way ❤️❤️❤️❤️ im so obsessed with all the different sibling reactions to viktor (also vanya in the comics has short hair sooooooo) ok so a few things i didnt like so much was first of all, luther and sloane romance felt really forced to me and a bittttt weird but ive seen people say that luther was in his himbo era during season 3 so honestly i'll let it slide. secondly there's lila who i disliked in season 2 but then she shows up with stan and i loved stan he was so silly!!!! BUT THEN lila is suddenly actually pregnant😭???? idk man, it gotta hella crazy. um thirdly (this is gonna be a really hot take but hear me out), i know its the whole point of the show and its a reoccurring thing that happens but all this end of the world/apocalypse business is kindaaa boring now 🧍 i guess it does happen differently in each season so its not completely repetitive everytime and i must say that this time was actually my favourite end of the world lol hopefully, the finally season will resolve everything nicely but only time will tell i suppose 👁️👁️. im actually gonna shut up now though because this is getting so long and while i could go on and on about tua im gonna have to stop 😭

just watched declan mckenna at reading festival on iplayer, he is so insane thank god the bbc stream it 😭😭😭 ALSO THE 1975 LAST NIGHT !!!!! AHHHH THEY PLAYED DEBUT IN FULL I FREAKED OUT SO HARD OMG IT WAS LITERALLY 2013 AGAIN and the killers were so good as well ❤️❤️ shoutout to that guy they brought up to play on the drums

Films I watched recently 🎥🎬

these relate in no way whatsoever lol

so first i watched jaws!!! 🦈(because my stepdad told me to) i had never watched this film before and its definitely not something id gravitate towards but i was very impressed as there was no cgi involved especially at the ending, that was so wild ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ then i watched the truman show and i loved the way it was captured plus the concept of this story is so interesting to me and having been released in the late 90s it felt very ahead of its time given the popularity of reality tv nowadays. the ending gave me such chills i loved it!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ and then we have drive 😭 i honestly just watched this because ryan gosling is in it lmao at the start i thought it was really silly how ryan barely spoke and had so little lines and then like all of a sudden everyone just started getting killed??? quite a weird movie tbh and again, not really my thing ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Bonus!!! not a film but i watched young royals and uhhh it was okay, some aspects of the show felt very fabricated and i dont really sense any big chemistry between wilhem and simon if im honest. as far as lgbt representation goes its not the worst though i definitely much prefer heartstopper ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ current watch: umbrella academy season 3!!! (ive finally got round to it lol)

Howl's Moving Castle °˖✧｡.:*

i also watched this last night right after my neighbour totoro lol. i had seen like a lil bit of the beginning of howl's moving castle before but that was before i knew than christian bale voices howl in the english dub and oh boy 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

ok first of all, the voice casting for the english dub is INSANE!?£!"? (christian bale i am looking directly at you 👁️👁️) AND THE SOUNDTRACK?!?£?!"£?! *chef's kiss* 🤌 so coming into this film i had no idea was to except other than long haired blond guy 🧍i found myself getting a bit confused with the plot at times and as this was a longer film it wasnt great for my attention span but i did get very invested towards the end especially when the secret garden scenes came up i was so blown away like its so pretty 😭😭😭😭😭 howl. i fear i may also be in love with howl and it has totally nothing to do with his voice actor in the english dub 🤭 if it were any other voice actor i dont think i would have cared as much about howl buttttt i was giggling and kicking my silly little feet over that guy teehee. im not sure if i prefer him as blond or dark haired but i do lean more to the blond oh and I NEED HIS EARRINGS im also quite the calcifer enjoyer!! he is very funny to me and again, great voice casting (billy crystal woooo!!!!) i think that there's a very sweet message behind this film if you really look into it though i did think that the ending and whole romance was a bit forced/rushed but it was nice nonetheless definitely gonna try get my hands on the book(s) to see the differences because i find that to be quite interesting and im totally gonna watch more studio ghibli films!!! (might go for kiki's delivery service next)

My Neighbour Totoro *:･ﾟ✧

last night i rewatched my neighbour totoro! anime isnt really my thing but i LOVE the studio ghibli art and animation style so it was nice to revisit this particular film as it was the first ghibli i had ever watched

the art style really is beautiful and the story is very simple making it easy to follow along so this for me was a great introduction to ghibli, i love the biiiiiig friend shaped characters which is probably the highlight of this film for me 🫶

also the catbus has balls lol

Heartstopper season 2! 🍂

so i just finished watching season 2 and oh my god 😭. gonna try avoid spoilers but AHHHHHH.

lol the gif is so me right now anyway im listening to the heartstopper playlist on spotify as i type this because the song choices are SO GOOD as always. i especially loved the song that plays at the end of episode 8 (ur so pretty by wasia project) because its just the most perfect way to finish of the season after such an important moment between nick and charlie 🥹🥹 THE CLIFFHANGER THO OMG I WAS FREAKING OUT (AND I STILL AM) im glad that this time only volume 3 of the comics was covered in season 2 of the show as there was quite a lot going on which need to be included. once again, all the key parts from the comics were captured so accurately and i loved seeing all my favourite parts of the comics come to life in such a beautiful way though i do wish that there was just a little bit more about paris as its the main part of volume 3 in the comics but i cant complain much because there were lots of other amazing new scenes (especially in episode 8!!!!!) one of my favourites being the scene when seven by taylor swift played ❤️❤️

it was really nice to see more of the characters from the comics portrayed so well on screen and seeing the growth and development of the main characters was very exciting, shoutout imogen and isaac 🫶🫶 i loved the addition of some new characters as well like elle's friends and her parents AND TAO'S MUM !!!!! yeah im obsessed, i loved this season so much and im totally gonna rewatch BOTH seasons and reread ALL the comics. thank you alice oseman i love you 😭😭😭

(i cant wait for season 3 omg) ((also i cried at least like 5 times while watching help)) (((OH and i strongly recommend reading the comics before watching this season because they are just so good but more importantly the topics are a LOT heavier as well)))

When Harry met Sally 💞

i finally managed to watch this film for the first time because it was tv so i thought id so a lil review lol. (i'll try not to spoil too much in case anyone reading this hasnt seen it)

so i had actually already kinda spoiled the ending for myself because i had seen clips of it on instagram lmao but i liked seeing how harry and sally got to that ending and how their relationship changed and progressed throughout the film, though the outcome was quite predictable as this is a romcom. im such a sucker for romcoms so this was just a really nice cozy, feel good film. my favourite bit was the i guess interlude scenes where elderly couples were talking about how they met, it so so sweet and melted my heart 😭😭 i love seeing happy older couples <3 harry and sally's main dynamic of very close friends, kind of reminded me of nina and george in the object of my affection except harry is straight lmao (idk i think this might just be me who sees this) but then at the same time harry was a tiny bit annoying to me at the start and he kinda acted how a lil kid would when they have a crush on someone, yknow like a teasing way. and then sally seem a bit stuck up at the beginning like she was too good for harry, though i guess that was kind of the point. yeah! so overall, i quite liked this film, need to find a second hand dvd copy of it because i would totally rewatch it as its right up my ally and id recommend this to anyone who's looking for a simple lil feel good romcom :)

(also i LOVED this scene visually oh and meg ryan is so so pretty in this film 🫶🫶🫶 AND i think that a man and a woman CAN just be friends lol)
