And this is why religion won’t be what will bring peace to the world. Heck, it’s actually one of, if not the main reason why the world is divided and can never unite and agree.
Nothing teaches you and/or tells you how to be a bigot like religion does. It is ironic because religious people would tell you that it is [their] religion that taught them about love and loving unconditionally.
What do I mean or am I alluding to with this? Bring up the subject of gender, gender identity, and/or LGBTQ into any conversation with a religious person, or even just mention any of these word/s to them and then you'll see a kind, loving and accepting person of faith turn into a religious bigot. All that talk about loving unconditionally? Poof! Gone. So... unconditional love, you say? <scoffs> Right.
When you look back a few years/decades/centuries ago, you'll find that the bigotry [also] extends to people who belong to a different race and/or believe in a different religion. Apparently today, though, it's pretty much just the people who identify as a different gender.
I'll probably, or rather might likely die alone. But god damn it, I'm going to at least make sure that I die looking good. Which is why I'm doing what I can, and the best I can, trying to stay fit. Umm... hashtag fitspo? 😅😜😋😁
I'm not an agnostic or anything, but I don't like a society that parades its righteousness. The righteousness of the U.S., the righteousness of Islam, the righteousness of China, the righteousness of this or that ethnic group, the righteousness of Greenpeace… They all claim to be righteous, but they all try to coerce others into complying with their own standards. They restrain others through huge military power, economic power, political power or public opinions. I myself have a number of things that I believe are right. And some things make me angry. I'm a person who gets angry a lot more easily than most people. But I always start from the assumption that human beings are foolish. I'm disgusted by the notion that man is the ultimate being, chosen by God. But I believe there are things in this world that are beautiful, that are important, that are worth striving for.

You read to me as I stand, you read to me as I sit,
You read to me as I run, You read to me as I shit.
I flee to the baths; you boom in my ear:
I head for the pool, you won't let me swim.
I hurry to dinner, you stop me in my tracks.
I arrive at the meal, your words make me gag.
Martial, Roman Satirist - referring to and expressing his disdain towards mediocre writers, who are usually wealthy people just taking advantage of the Recitatio (a public literary reading conducted by authors and poets) as opportunities for self-promotion.
From the book 'Bookish Fools' by Frank Furedi, Sociologist
It is New Year's Eve 2023. Only a few hours left 'til midnight. It is 4:30pm PST. Like pretty much everyone, or rather just most people, I checked on social media to see what everybody else is up to -- particularly of friends, family, and relatives in the Philippines. To no one's surprise, a lot of people posted photos of their Media Noche. And for some reason, I couldn't help but feel like some of them are mainly doing it just to show off; expensive wine/s, food ordered from western food establishments and/or bought at the grocery (brand items, like, chocolates, snacks, etc.) instead of the usual home-made or home-cooked stuff. I mean, like, they could've at least removed the food from their boxes and put them on a plate -- or at least be discreet or subtle about it by opening the box or turning/positioning them in a way so that the brand logo isn't on full display.
Not gonna lie, I thought about commenting on their posts with, "How's bragging camp going?" Not tempted, though, it just crossed my mind.
I've identified myself as an atheist for almost 15 years now, but every time I fill out a [survey or application] form that asks what my religion is, I still put in "Catholic" just because that's the religion I was born into. And I won't be surprised if a lot of other people do that, too.
If there's an option or a check box that says "Atheist" or "None" then that's when I wouldn't specify 'Catholic' as my religion.
War is a place where young people who don't know each other and don't hate each other, kill each other, based on decisions made by old people who know each other and hate each other, but don't kill each other...
Paul Valéry. Paraphrased: original/exact quote is, "War: a massacre of people who don't know each other for the profit of people who know each other but don't massacre each other."
