Hey there! This is a separate/secret blog where I’m gonna post random thoughts and drawings about comic book characters. Feel free to talk to me about headcanons and other things!
I think the thing that will always be most core to Clark Kent’s character and always be one of my favorite things about him is that in a world of people vying for power — Lois Lane is always looking for the next Pulitzer Prize and to broaden her recognition and renown, Lex Luthor is a conglomerate business man who seeks power through his technological innovation and monetary income — is that, the most powerful being inside this world is a man who doesn’t care about power at all. Superman has all these gifts, all this power. He could use it to dominate the world if he wanted to, but no, he won’t. He doesn’t use it to push for more money, or more renown. He’s content just being a low income guy that blends in the background. Not out of modesty, or anything. Because for all these powers gifted to him that so many people would use other ways, Clark just doesn’t actually want those powers at all. All he wants is to be a normal little man, a giving one. He can get along just fine, he doesn’t need more. But he knows others much less lucky than he, and he dedicates himself to them. It’s canon that at Christmas Clark and Lois run a little toy workshop at the Daily Planet where they hand repair old toys to give to less fortunate children (From Superman’s Christmas Adventure, a favorite of mine you deserve to read).
And in a world where people are only seen for their power and Superman is the only one they see, Clark Kent is the perfect disguise. Just because with all that power, no one could ever expect or accept he would settle for normalcy, mediocrity. He could be a one man factory and deliver a million toys. But he goes with this. Clark cherishes normalcy. He doesn’t want more. He wants less.
He was taught how to give what little Clark Kent has to give, before he ever learned how to be Superman and change the world. That that is enough. More than enough. And a little is a lot, when it’s all you have to give.
People talk a lot about how Clark wants to be normal, but some people forget that “normal” is exactly the type of upbringing he had. He wasn’t some wealthy billionaire like Bruce Wayne or Oliver Queen, or royalty like Diana Prince, Clark is just a small town country boy. And despite Superman being an alien, Clark is the most down to earth, run-of-the-mill guy you could meet. So no, it doesn’t matter if his disguise is just a shoddy pair of slapdash glasses. No one is ever going to guess Clark Kent is Superman, because he may have limitless power, but he draws his own lines in the sand. He’s not interested in reaching the sun. He doesn’t want it all. He has it, but he knows the power of having nothing at all. Of what it means to give a little, and how that’s a lot when it’s all you’ve got.
And Clark chooses to never stop living like he’s only got a little, no matter how much he gets. And in a universe full of characters of such great power and equal ambition, a character like Clark Kent shows how small kindnesses can have the greatest impact. What it’s like to settle for less and make the most of what you’ve got. It’s not his powers that make him great, because that’s not how Clark sees it. It’s all the little things. Because a little can add up to a whole lot.
And no, it will never surprise me that Clark Kent… who is excessively ordinary… is completely over everybody’s heads, because he’s surrounded by larger than life people. Lex Luthor and Lois Lane can’t figure out his identity? They look to the clouds instead of the streets where everyone else is walking, so obviously. I love that not even his allies can’t wrap their minds around why he settles for less. Why put on the glasses? Yet he may have a lot of power, but he’s still just Smallville, Kansas. That’s who he wants you to see, and why he’ll wear the glasses. That’s always who he’ll choose to be, any day, even over Superman.
The thing that makes Clark Kent the alien at the Justice League round table isn’t being Kryptonian, but being from Kansas. And I will always, always love the dickens out of that.
So the DC Round Robin voting is going to end in four days and idk about anyone else but I’m votes for Superboy. We haven’t seen a good solo run for him in forever. Plus the art is so good! If you can go vote for Superboy!
Or suicide squad dark if you want but I am gonna judge a bit.

Here’s a preview page from Superboy: The Man of Tomorrow by Kenny Porter and Jahnoy Lindsay, which is one of two projects that made it to the final round of the 2022 DC Round Robin tournament.
Conner Kent is back! But this isn’t the DC Universe he knows. With Jonathan, Kara, and Clark protecting the Earth, Conner feels like an outsider more than ever. Living on the Kent farm, he dreams of one day finally finding his place in the universe, and a purpose as Superboy.
Ok so I just want an AU where Conner isn't a test tube 16-year-old baby and actually had a full childhood under Lex Luthor who is a decent dad because Conner has half of his DNA and he an egomaniac. But he never tells Clark and just keeps bashing Superman like a scorn single parent talks about their deadbeat spouse. Because he still wants to use Conner as a weapon to kill Superman.
And Conner becomes a really huge threat to the young justice team because been trained since he was young by Mercy who is an Amazon warrior (Thanks Wikipedia).
And when Bruce lets Tim take over Wayne tech Lex is like "shit that really would free up my time to scheme" and makes Conner his CEO. Because I really just want Tim to struggle from his lack of social skills in getting clients while Conner fails on keeping a company functioning because business is a lot of math and math is boring.
reading comic books provides you with a level of tolerance for not knowing what the fuck someone is talking about and pressing on anyway that is absolutely invaluable to the humanities actually
does the batfam knows about jason's whole thing with the all caste?
since it was talia who took jason there, i imagine that damian knows about the existence of the all caste, but i don't think talia would tell him about jason training with them
i think there are many funny ways for this to be revealed to them
