thinking about…
bestfriend!bakugou who lets you hang out in his dorm room as he’s sleeping. who constantly complains about the noise but isn’t actually able to sleep unless he can hear your comments about the book you’re reading or a movie you’re watching. softly smiling in the mornings when he sees your coffee cups on his desk and little notes littered all around his room.
bestfriend!bakugou who loves watching you crochet next to him in bed as you two are watching a show together. watching as you treat the project with so much care and attention it makes him almost jealous of it. laying his head on your lap and looking towards the screen.
bestfriend!bakugou who listens to you rant to him about how your kindle doesn’t have a series you want to read, telling him that you wanted to find out if it was good before buying the paperbacks. he just laughs as you grab one of your books and start flipping through pages trying to find a quote you wanted to show him.
bestfriend!bakugou who buys the series you wanted and writes a small ‘tell me all about it after you finish it, sweetheart’ inside the book and watches you freak out when you see the collection of books sitting so gently atop your bed.
bestfriend!bakugou who gives in with a sigh when you ask to wrap ribbons and put red kiss marks on him for pictures to put in your wallet. even smiling brightly in one to make you happy.
bestfriend!bakugou who holds you as close as he can to himself when you guys ride the subway. wrapping an arm around you and putting you as close to the wall and himself as he can, trying to shield you from whatever danger that existed.
bestfriend!bakugou who holds your hair back with one hand, heating his palm up as he moves his other hand in circles on your back. leaving soft kisses on your head and whispering how you shouldn’t of drank as much as you did. only leaving your side to grab you water and his clothes for you to change into.
bestfriend!bakugou who asks you to be his girlfriend with a bouquet of picked flowers and a blush on his face. looking anywhere but your eyes and trying not to light the flowers on fire.
boyfriend!bakugou who gives into anything you ask of him as soon as you flash him your puppy dog eyes. and if you go the extra mile to pout, it’s over for him.
boyfriend!bakugou who watches with a smile and held back laughter as you dance around his room to mitski in tears, screaming the lyrics into a fake microphone.
boyfriend!bakugou who lets out tiny but loud explosions while you two are watching horror movies just to see you jump and hit his chest with a shake of your head.
boyfriend!bakugou who holds your hand to keep it warm when you drag him to pumpkin patches in fall. dragging him around and pointing to pumpkins saying how the green ones look like deku.
boyfriend!bakugou who lets you decorate his dorm room and childhood bedroom for holidays, just enjoying how happy it makes you.

Chapter One: Heroes Times/Heroes Nature
Everything around you sounded like an echo as you were lost in your overworked thoughts, blocking out your boss's instructions to the point that all you picked up on were, "Due tomorrow," and, "No whining this time." You must have acknowledged him somehow since soon his blurry figure glided to yell at the cubicle occupant next to yours, a new young and aspiring journalist who was soon to quit due to the company’s heavy expectations.
The Hero Times was a frequently busy building as the newspaper company rose to fame in Japan, covering almost everything and anything hero-related. Its interior was a bustling hive of activity, with reporters typing furiously at their desks, phones ringing incessantly, and the constant hum of conversation. Even though much of the information was gathered illegally through employees such as yourself, no one seemed to care to file any lawsuits just yet, and it was only due to your boss's cleverness. Your boss, Hinata, is a fairly young man who is handling the ownership of such a large company as if it were as easy as brushing your teeth and is someone who found the loophole to heroes even though he was quirkless - as long as what we post isn’t harming society's views on heroes, we can do as we please... even if it’s illegally obtained information. However, there was more behind Hinata’s facade of a "young, smart, harmless businessman"; he was a schemer and a liar.
What the public didn’t know was that Hinata owned another, much more infamous newspaper company known as Heroes Nature. It was a publication that thrived on sensationalism and scandal. While The Hero Times shines a light on heroes in their best light, Heroes Nature revels in the darker, more salacious side of heroism. Ever wondered what Pro Hero Chargebolt is like in bed? Heroes Nature can let you know. Many times the location of Heroes Nature’s office was to be discovered, only to fall short as there were no leads, unaware that on floor 62 of The Hero Times’s office building was where the writers of Heroes Nature sat, including you as well, one of the many overworked undercover journalists for the company.
Due to the great pay, however, there wasn’t much to complain about other than the lack of a romantic life caused by your random shifts. Your most recent fling had completely cut you off after sending you a text message claiming, “There’s no way you work that late so suddenly, I can’t help but think you’re seeing other men.” Although it didn’t bother you too much, as the thrill of being “undercover,” as your boss calls it, is much more appealing than being boned by a whiny man-child. Before being hired, you had to sign a contract stating that you would never tell another what your career is due to the company’s secrecy, and by complying to do so, you have complete legal protection if the company were to face any lawsuits. Meaning if you were to be caught by a hero, you get a stack of cash to settle with until you find another job and get away scot-free, just as long as you’d followed the contract rules and not exposed yourself purposely. Hinata was a very kind and trustworthy man, much in contrast to his secret scheming. Overall, it was a pretty easy and exciting job that you happily secured fresh out of high school with your great skills in the field. You had attended a Hero Academy in the States to become a support hero since your quirk, Shadow Veil, allowed you to manipulate shadows in ways that advanced your stealth and investigation skills. However, after graduating with your hero license, you discovered your passion for journalism grew much deeper, and after being offered a job overseas by Hinata, you happily agreed and moved away to Japan at only nineteen years old.
A stack of papers was slammed onto your desk as you snapped your now-cleared vision up to your boss, sympathetically looking your tired form over. “This is all the information you’ll need to start with this mission, but get some rest first.” Hinata playfully nudged your shoulder, “I want my journalist awake and comprehending.” You only nodded up at your boss before starting to pack up your work bag, taking notice of the setting sun through the office windows. The golden rays of the setting sun streamed through the glass, casting warm hues across the bustling newsroom. Hinata only remained and sighed before continuing: “The first set of info is due tomorrow night,” he drummed his fingers on your desk before walking backward, “Heroes Nature wants to dig deep this time around.” You contently hummed and smiled as he walked towards his office, feeling excitement run through your tired veins at the idea of working with another Pro Hero. Just one glance down at the stack of paperwork was enough to flatline that excitement, though. Picking the thin stack up and placing them into your work bag, you set off towards your apartment located in downtown Musutafu, just above a small bakery.
It was cute and not too large, although not too small, and had everything you needed; the bakery being a huge bonus since the kind owner allowed you a discount on all the treats. As you unlocked and walked through the glass door which hung a “Sorry, we are now closed!” sign, a dainty bell jingled and abruptly a head popped up from behind the now-empty glass display case. It was a black-haired woman in their young twenties just like you, sporting a light blue dress with a white apron draped atop. “Welcome home! I was just cleaning up to head home as well.” She sighed and wiped the sweat from her forehead with an arm holding a cleaning rag. As you moved to a nearby table to sit down your bag she had already started furiously wiping the countertop again, slightly biting her lip and unaware of how you were walking up to her rather than going up the stairs to your apartment.
“Go on home, Natsumi,” You softly spoke as you grabbed the rag from the shocked girl, then continued your offer with a smile. “I can finish up here.” Natsumi looked up and down your tired figure, only to furrow her eyebrows and knowingly place a hand on your shoulder. However, before she could decline your offer, you dismissed her with a wave and lightly nudged her towards the exit. “I’ve seen how hectic it gets in here, it must be hard, especially as an owner!” Natsumi let out an exasperated noise and shot both hands in the air, shaking them around at your response, turning around to face you once she had reached the door only to see you’d already had the bakery squeaky clean.
“What? How did you…” Her pointer finger reached out as she scanned the room before she slumped and exited the door, mumbling about not wanting to question anymore in her exhausted state. The two of you exchanged a good night, and then you followed the nightly routine of locking every door, turning off every light, and going up the stairs to your apartment. Although you were exhausted from the long day of writing at work, it was still much too early for you to be going to bed, which led your workaholic self to dig into what mission you’ve been assigned recently and with what hero. Flipping open the stack of paper at your bedroom desk, you skipped through the basic information that was stated on every packet you’d been given before a mission before finally reaching the biography page.
Focus of Interest: Katsuki Bakugou, Dynamight
You felt a shock in your brain, and it traveled to your spine and trailed to your toes as your body paled at the name printed onto the paper in front of you. Quietly you skimmed through the basic information you’d already learned about the hero due to your experience of working with heroes for so long until your eyes landed on the prize:
Work Prompt: The Truth Behind Dynamight's Heroic Deeds: Are They Genuine or Self-Serving?
Scoffing, you slid the papers away from you slightly and laid your arms onto your desk chair’s armrests. You couldn’t help but feel baffled at the request since no idea as to how you could go about the prompt surfaced in your head. There were many negatives to covering something like this: One, almost every newspaper in Japan has published an article on the topic of Dynamight’s “villainous” behavior, it was simply over-used. Two, there had been no record of the hero ever giving in to any interviewer in the past five years of his career, and although that’s where undercover journalists like you come into play, the company has still had many failed attempts at getting under the fiery number two hero’s guard. Three, although the man is known to be brash and very aggressive, Dynamight is known to be scarily clever and could no doubt sniff out an undercover journalist with no hesitation. Even with an extremely skilled worker such as yourself, there was still a slight chance he could figure you out, and given his personality, would quickly arrest you. And finally, four, you were scared shitless. For whatever reason on God’s green Earth, you had an intense fear of ever having to interact with the hero. Was it attraction? Was it intimidation? You couldn’t exactly pinpoint it, but you’d constantly attempted to get out of being assigned Dynamight; it was only after every other undercover journalist failed that Hinata decided you’d have to get over it and try as well.
Hinata was an extremely persistent man, and you figured that he’d rather die than never get an accurate story on Dynamight. It was a frequent topic spoken of by the media - how no newspaper company hasn’t ever published accurate coverage of the Pro Hero. Hinata was close to achieving the success of being the first to do so in an article published by The Hero Times a year back but only received the company’s first backlash due to many inaccurate assumptions made, and since then you’d noticed the huge disdain your boss had formed towards Dynamight. It was almost scary how Hinata’s “perfect” personality cracked whenever the hero was brought up, and how every employee pretended as though they couldn’t hear the rage-filled screams coming from his closed office whenever he heard of anything positive regarding Dynamight. This meant when Hinata came up to you this morning with a story that Heroes Nature could publish which could finally diminish Dynamight’s reputation, you almost feared what would've happened had you said no in your exhausted state this morning and seen the crack in his friendly smile. He was still your boss and held much power, although you knew the day would come when you’d have to face your fears and talk to the intimidating hero for the sake of your job.
You groaned and leaned back in your desk chair with an arm covering your eyes as a headache slowly formed from the overthinking you’ve been doing since being assigned this task. You let your arm go limp before lazily reaching an open hand out in the direction of the distant TV remote, a shadow from the corner of your dim room sneaking around until it picked up the remote and brought it to your grasp so you could flip onto the news channel. A shaken-up news reporter took up the screen, a disheveled scene behind her, presumably somewhere in Musutafu due to the recognizable buildings that were now damaged. “I’m here right off the corner of Downtown Musutafu, where an extremely powerful villain has taken hostage many innocent civilians!” The reporter yelled into the mic, glancing around in fear before the camera zoomed into the fight between a muscular man with black hair and many tattoos and a certain blonde-haired hero. Explosions were being thrown left and right, but you took notice of the huge gash in his abdomen that was most likely life-threatening, but he seemed to pay no mind and only care about pummeling the villain and getting to the heroes. You watched with narrowed eyes as he easily apprehended the villain by knocking him out, most likely from exhaustion, and quietly helped the crying civilians which were mainly children. Dynamight had a smirk on his face rather than a smile, but it still seemed to comfort the terrified victims who could’ve faced death either way. As the camera continued to show the hero refusing to get personal medical help and instead helping out injured civilians, the reporter spoke on. “It seems another day has been saved by Dynamight, his fifth success this week! The Number Two Hero has risen to the public’s liking, and I’m sure there will be more to come!” As the reporter continued to ramble about information on the villain that was defeated, you kept a keen eye on the hero you’d soon be investigating. You bit your nails due to the nerves of the idea but kept the competitive attitude that drove you through your previous hero training; if anyone’s gonna get under Dynamight’s skin, it’s gotta be you.
It was just then that Dynamight locked his fierce gaze onto the camera, his red eyes burning your skin as much as his quirk could. It was as though he’d seen you.

All The Stars~ PT.2
BAKUGOU X SECRET ADMIRER PT.2
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A/N: I didn't expect the prequel to this to get as much attention as it did. I'm so grateful you guys liked it, and I hope you'll enjoy this one too. <333
☁︎ [You and Bakugou were always head to head, fighting for the top spot.
The tension between you and Bakugou was firey, pushing both of you as well as 1A to perform better. Aizawa Sensei secretly appreciated the effect the both of you had on the rest of the class- he would let you both drop detention for disrupting the class for the 7th time in a row.
Your admiration for Bakugou started when you saw him save civilians from a falling building before he had his license. He was chewed out for it endlessly- not that he cared. You observed from the sidelines, noting he wasn't as heartless nor avoidant as you had previously thought.] ☁︎

ALL THE STARS~ PT.1
Tumblr media
Katsuki Bakugou found himself looking forward to Wednesdays.
Wednesdays? That's a weird day to look forward to, apart from art class or PE or something. As the weeks progressed, so did the number of gifts in Bakugou's locker- with Bakugou's increasing frustration, of course. The gifts were obviously from one person. "It ain't even close to Valentine's Day, which blockhead is causing all this trouble?" Bakugou'd answer irritably when questioned. Lucky for you, you convinced Hatsume to help you delete the footage when you'd pick his locker open.
His secret admirer. What if it was a prank? What if it was one of his peers? What if it was some crazy stalker like Toga? He found himself scared again. Scared of being hurt. After being kidnapped by the League, his anxiety and nightmares made him spiral. To wake up in a cold sweat at 4:23 was now a habit. He'd sulk and bury his head into his pillow as if it'd absorb his anger. All he could think about these nights was this secret admirer of his. They were really something, THE great dynamite king killer blah blah Bakugou found himself staying up at night, face flushed as he thought of them.
BAKUGOU woke up drenched in his own sweat again. His bedsheets were damp with sweat as the air around him was stuffy. Relief washed over him as he slumped back against the wall and realised it was a nightmare. Just a stupid nightmare. He placed his feet on the cold tiles on the floor, deciding to go for a run.
His mind was foggy- with thoughts of his secret admirer. He'd hate to admit that those 'high protein chocolates' helped him buff up and increase his stamina as well. The cool air rustled through the trees along the path he jogged. He saw someone sleeping under one of the trees as the sun was rising, the light illuminating the person. The nearer he got, the faster his heart beat.
The soft rays of the sun glazed over your skin like honey. You were fast asleep on the soft grass, mouth slightly open. Katsuki narrowed his eyes at your sight- he was very vocal about how much he hated you. Though obvious to you and the rest of the Bakusquad that he had a soft spot for you. Passing you cold water during breaks, buying you a soda from the nearest vending machine after a long day of patrolling during your internship. "It's only so that they can try to become better than me, it's funny to watch them try." He'd say.
Whatever he felt or said, it was hard to deny you were attractive. Your pretty eyes, your soft hair, your beautiful smile.
He'd tilt his head as he watched you from his desk as you giggled alongside Mina as you laughed at another one of Kaminari's pranks. He loved how your eyes would light up at seeing your favourite side dishes on the menu at the cafeteria and the cute expressions you made while eating, the way your nose danced as you chewed on the food. And right now, he loved how your hair spread out on the grass as you dreamt on.
Noticing a blueish diary next to you, his body moved before he could register. The first few pages were filled with sketches of cats and pros, along with some classmates. He sat down cross-legged next to you, careful not to wake you as he flipped through the diary.
Katsuki Fucking Bakugou knew darn well he was wrong- and that made him feel some type of way. Curiosity blew up the cat?
His warm fingers traced the sketches as his face heated up despite the morning chill. He leaned against the bark of the tree, propping the book on his knees. A slip of neon paper fell out as he admired the sketches- the neon orange paste-it drifted onto the dewy grass. Bakugou picked it up, noting the familiarity. There were only three words on the neon note.
Katsuki ran towards the dorms with your diary in his hand, beet red. He shook his head as those words swam through his mind- such a simple arrangement of three words, really.
High Protein Chocolate.

Bakugou Katsuki is usually not the biggest fan of anything related to public relations. He feels as though it's a waste of time trying to look good for the public, maintaining a spotless image and a fantastic reputation, just so that some random people will think positively of you. So what if they do? All he wants to do is be a damn hero. The other shit that's apparently needed to be done is extremely unnecessary in his eyes; sometimes it even feels fake.
But there is a silver lining.
The PR shit that his PR manager makes him do—he hates everything—except going to schools and talking with kids. Sure, they can be little brats, but kids are kids. They're usually more honest and upfront, not really caring about what other people think. The questions that the kids would ask would never be left unanswered (can't say the same for interviewers and reporters, though). This man is pretty honest with his answers too (though with some, he keeps them brief or vague).
So, on a random Wednesday, his PR manager (who finally caught on that he likes being around little gremlins more) told him that he'd be visiting a school around 10 AM. With events like these, it's always a surprise for the kids, because Bakugou absolutely forbids announcements of any kind, not wanting the kids' experience ruined by the paparazzi and rabid fans. The only ones who are informed are the school staff.
It's 10 AM, and Bakugou Katsuki waltzes into the school in his Pro-Hero costume. His PR manager and personal assistant were just right behind him. They met with the principal of the school, a small old lady with a soft smile on her face. She greeted them as well as thanked the Pro-Hero for giving some of his time to entertain the kids. She led them to the first classroom of the day, the old lady knocking on the door before stepping aside, gesturing for the Pro-Hero to stand in front of the door and wait for it to open.
The door opened, and he was greeted by a mature woman with a small smile on her face. "Class, someone's here to talk with you for a little bit. . ."
When Bakugou stepped inside the classroom, the kids immediately shrieked with happiness. Both boys and girls flail their arms wildly and stand up, some even kicking their seats in the process, to go and rush over to the explosive hero. Bakugou picked up one kid, a little boy with a wide, toothy grin on his face.
No one understood how Bakugou Katsuki and his extreme personality would have such patience and understanding with kids. He's rough and gruff, with an attitude that can either make you cower or want to try to fight him—and yet, here he is, standing front and center of a classroom with a rare smile on his face.
Tumblr media
"I'm picking up the kids—I'm already at their school—Mina, we can talk about that condo later—why are you so excited. . . ?"
You walked briskly to where the playground area was in your kids' school, more focused on the conversation you were having with Mina, your cousin. You kept walking, seemingly in a sort of trance, or rather, muscle memory, because you've been doing the same routine since they started preschool. It's as if your legs had a mind of their own at this point. But something was amiss. You slow down when you realize there aren't any children playing around and laughing and screaming. Haruki and Harumi weren't there. Your heart skipped a beat.
Luckily for you, there was another mother who was walking away from the playground area, seemingly calm. She has a kid who's in the same classroom as your kids. You were about to walk towards her to ask what was going on when the woman took notice of you, noticing the panicked expression on your face. "Don't worry, dear, the kids are inside talking to a Pro-Hero. I've been informed by a friend of mine who's already inside the school. Our kids are in the same class as hers; they're fine."
Relief washed over you, your shoulders releasing some of the tension they've been holding since your realization and your assumption (though no one can blame you). You nodded and smiled, mouthing a 'thank you' before walking as fast as you could to the entrance of the school.
You opened the double doors of the school, looking left and right before pausing for a moment. You walked straight ahead before turning left, your eyebrows raised in slight surprise when you saw parents gossiping in (somewhat) hushed voices. You heard the words 'Pro' and 'Hero', along with the name.
'Dynamight'.
You couldn't help but slow down, listening to the mothers and fathers gossiping about the Number 2 Pro-Hero. They talked about how surprisingly calm he is around children, how he answers whatever question he throws at them, and how he would even smile sometimes. You make a quiet sound of amusement before going back to your task at hand: seeing if your kids are really inside their classroom.
Lo and behold, there they were. Haruki and Harumi stood tall and proud, shouting out their names to the Number 2 Pro-Hero, Dynamight.
Tumblr media
"What're yer names?" he asks the two kids, who were standing with determined expressions on their faces.
"Haruki!"
"Harumi!"
They shouted their names with bright, wide eyes that looked as if they were sparkling, their cheery tones making Bakugou chuckle. "We're twins!" Harumi linked her arm around her brother's, eyes closed as she smiled wide at the blond.
"Yeah, twins!"
Bakugou leaned back against the back of the chair their teacher provided for him, crossing his arms on his chest, his foot tapping the tiled floor. "Whaddaya wanna talk 'bout, squirts?" he hunched over, uncrossing his arms and clasping his hands together. The twins looked at each other as though they were communicating with one another, their brows slightly furrowed, like they were serious and focused. They looked towards Bakugou, who was waiting patiently for them to come up with their questions—
"Are you married!?"
Bakugou was taken aback, his eyes widening slightly as he raised his brows. It wasn't the first time he was asked this question, but it always got him. Kids usually ask about his fights and his quirk, even wanting a little demonstration of how he controls it so well. The very, very few kids who ask this question are either extremely curious or have a crush on him.
"Nope."
Just like that, the twins had huge grins on their faces, nodding to one another before facing the Pro-Hero. Bakugou quirked an eyebrow, straightening his posture and crossing his arms once more. They looked like they were planning something. Haruki and Harumi walked away from their seats, their focus on the door. "Where are you going, kids?" their teacher asked, confused but also curious. She's known them for a few months now, and in those few months, she's learned that these twins always had a knack for stirring up some chaos.
When the teacher opened the door, Harumi bowed before peeking outside and looking left and right to see if their mother was there. Harumi's face brightened when she saw you, and she immediately rushed towards you. Haruki followed afterwards, giggling loudly. "Mama!"
You stumble when you catch them, giggling as they hug you tightly. Before you could ask them if they were okay, though, they immediately grabbed your hands and turned their heads facing the opposite of you, pulling you towards the classroom. Your eyes widened as your affectionate expression turned into a more confused one. "Hey, what's going on?" you ask them gently. They turn their heads back to face you, innocent-looking smiles on their faces. But you know better; they're your children, after all. You knew they were up to something; the smiles on their faces and the shine in their eyes were already a dead giveaway.
And well, since you know them like the back of your hand, that also means they will absolutely not relent on taking you into their classroom. You sigh in defeat, letting them drag you over to their classroom in giddy excitement. When you finally enter the classroom, your eyes immediately lock with Bakugou Katsuki's scarlet eyes. They were so intense and full of fire. You see him eye you up and down before maintaining eye contact once again. Oh. . .
"Marry our mom!"
Your attention snapped away from Bakugou and went to the twins, who were grinning as if they had just made a perfect match of a couple. "Haruki! Harumi!" you scolded, although you couldn't really scold them properly, not when you're all flustered and embarrassed and ohmygod—
Dynamight was laughing—Bakugou Katsuki was laughing. You don't know if you should be honored or even more embarrassed than before. The twins were giggling themselves. You were just standing there, in front of a lot of kids, their teacher, the school's principal, and the parents, just outside the classroom—
"You squirts want me to be yer mama's husband?" He asks with a smirk on his face.
"YEAH!"
"Kids!"
Now you were embarrassed to the third power, good lord.
Tumblr media
After that whole fiasco, you retreated back outside the classroom, your head hanging low. The parents were all teasing you to hell and back, and all you could do was cross your arms and grumble incoherent words. When the whole event was done, you wanted to wait for the Pro-Hero to apologize. All of the kids and their parents were mostly gone now, leaving only you and your twins, waiting outside the school, sitting on one of the benches.
You were a little nervous, though. It's not exactly every day you could meet a Pro-Hero in the higher ranks, much less the Number 2 Pro-Hero. It's also not exactly every day you lock eyes with someone so intense and handsome—oh god, no, stop.
"Why're you three still're?"
Your head turns in the direction of the voice, and you start to feel all flustered and embarrassed again. You stood up and walked over to him, trying to maintain eye contact but failing miserably. "I wanted to wait for you to apologize. . . my kids can be too much sometimes—" you cut yourself off when you realized how close in proximity the two of you were. Did he walk closer without you noticing. . ? Or did you walk too close. . . Oh, great, you're even more nervous now.
"And. . . um, thank you for uh—thanks for doin' this for the uh. . . kids, yeah."
You hear him chuckle, and it makes you feel fuzzy. 'Oh my god, what's going on with me!? Why am I acting like such a teenager who's freaking out over their crush!? This is crazy. . .'Sure, you've had your fair share of crushes on Pro-Heroes before, but this was the first time you felt like a schoolgirl trying to have a nice conversation with her crush.
You snap out of your thoughts, with his fingers snapping in front of you and his face right in front of yours.
"Don't be sorry 'bout the kids. It was cute," he tells you, his voice deep.
Bakugou catches the twins out of the corner of his eye, trying to keep their laughter down and their hands on their mouths. He smiles softly before returning his attention to you. "Besides, 's not a bad suggestion."
"W-what?"
"Marryin' ya."
The kids shriek and squeal, running towards the both of you. They spin around yours and Bakugou's legs, intentionally making the space smaller and smaller and. . . oof!
"Yer kids are pretty good with the whole matchmakin' thing, huh?"
Your hands were on his chest, and his hands were on your waist. You already experienced their matchmaking thing before, although they would never go to this extent. You concluded that they were more adamant about Bakugou being with you because, well, he's Dynamight.
"I'm thirty-three. . ."
"So? I'm twenty-seven."
"You're actually considering it."
He flashes you a toothy grin. "You bet I am."

A one-shot where Katsuki Bakugou, struggling with his insecurities, confronts his feelings for a close friend while she does the same.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The boy shook as he walked down the dark cold street and no matter how much he tried to deny it, the only thing he could think of was you. The way your eyes shined when you spoke to him, holding such a contrast to others’ fearful ones. The way you lightly spoke to him but still held a confident tone, as though you were not afraid of saying something to offend him but still making sure to be kind. The way you didn’t treat him how others did, how you didn’t allow outside perspectives to taint his image. He’d seen it before; when your classmates would pull you away and whisper in your ear about him, and you would soon after seem uncomfortable around him. He never asked why, as he figured your behavior stemmed from your friends telling you bad things about him. Katsuki grew warm from anger as he remembered, feeling the tingle of an explosion at his fingertips. As he walked up to the cafe’s glass doors, a new warmth engulfed him as he finally realized how cold he truly was. He’d already forgotten about whatever conflict was in his mind as soon as he saw you though.
You were sitting at a booth intently reading your new book when you heard the familiar melody of the cafe's door, signaling someone had entered; however, the gust of winter air did just the same. Tearing your focus from the story you looked up at the entrance and your posture immediately straightened, much to Katsuki's notice. Suddenly, a new warmth engulfed him - a warmth much stronger than that of the cafe, one that caused his once frosty cheeks to heat up. You, of course, noticed as he strolled over and slid into the seat across from you.
"Oh my god Katsuki, you're all red!" You spoke, immediately reaching out to grab his hands that were resting on the table. You let out a gasp as you noticed they were cold to the touch then scoffed as you pulled back, giving him a scolding look. "This is why I tell you to wear gloves." Katsuki's gaze remained on his hands, already missing the warmth yours held. He looked up to meet your eyes and scoffed back at you before casually resting his head on his hand while his elbow was propped onto the table.
"I don't need gloves so I don't wear them. Why are you being a nerd anyway?" He grunted towards the open book that lay in front of you. You smiled and closed the book to lift it up, the cover now visible to him.
"It's the book you got me last week for Christmas, duh. Oh, and it's soooo good don't even get me started!" You dragged out your 'so' to emphasize your point and playfully smirked as you gently sat the book to your side, and Katsuki felt his heart drop. It's not like he didn't expect you to like the book, he picked it so of course it's interesting, but something about it made him feel sick to his stomach. But in a way he would never explain, he liked it. The plot of the book focused on the romance of a stubborn boy and a sugar-sweet girl and you only hoped Katsuki had got it for you as a hint, not just from coincidence. You loved the book, but couldn’t stop yourself from picturing the two of you as the main characters - you’d never admit that though.
A comfortable silence covered the table as you two shared a staring contest, but it was soon interrupted by the vibrations erupting from your phone. You both rolled your eyes although you held a smile and Katsuki held a slight frown. You flipped over your phone to reveal the caller as Ururaka, with a raised eyebrow you glanced up to Katsuki and he waved his free hand in dismissal. You answered the phone as Katsuki turned his head to face the window beside him, looking at the fresh snow that had started to fall over the night's floor.
"What are you doing right now?" You heard the smile on Ururaka's voice along with other voices heard in the background, presumably some of the other girls from class. You'd been invited to a sleepover with them, but you already had plans. You admired Katsuki side profile and answered your friend.
"Mm, just at a cafe with Katsuki!" You noticed him side-glance you and as you made eye contact he smirked.
"Oh," Ururaka spoke, but the disapproval that laced her voice did not go unnoticed by you.
With a slightly deep pitch, you spoke. "'Oh?' Why do you sound mad." Katsuki rolled his eyes as he became aware of the conversation, slightly annoyed at your friends' constant worried behavior whenever you spoke of him. To them, it seemed they thought you were hanging out with the devil himself. Suddenly something was said from your friend that flustered you, and the phone call was quickly ended. You laid your phone on the table again, then nervously ran a hand through your hair as your face grew red. Picking up on your change in attitude, Katsuki raised his eyebrows; it wasn't hot enough in here for you to turn so red.
"Oh, what, your little friends need to come save you?" He sneered, his eye contact fierce while yours was scattered. He grew more annoyed, the difference in behavior was unusual and it was pissing him off. "Ey, tell me why you're acting like this now." He commanded, leaning forward slightly as you leaned back into the booth's cushion.
"It's nothing, I just need some food in my belly!" You convincingly smiled as you tapped your fingers on the table in a ripple - Katsuki's presence was suddenly overwhelming and you were hyper-aware of every action you were making. From an outside perspective, you looked extremely uncomfortable. However, your response didn't have much effect on Katsuki as he scoffed and leaned back to watch you pretend to skim through the menu. 'What could your shitty friends have possibly told you about him that shook you up this badly?' His mind was racing as his throat closed, too many thoughts and emotions at once began to anger him; he had to leave. He abruptly stood up and headed towards the exit, smoothly tucking his arms into his jacket as he did so.
You snapped your head up, watching him leave without turning back. You were confused and suddenly felt sick, had you done something to tick him off? You hadn't meant to - that's for sure. Hastily tucking the book into your sling bag you followed the boy, the cafe's door almost hitting you as it shut. "Katsuki!" You called out for him only for his distant figure to shrink the farther he walked. Your foot hesitantly stepped forward as the cold weather nipped at your face, but you set it down and the snow crunched underneath your weight. Using what warmth was left in your body, you jogged up to Katsuki and grabbed his shoulder to make him face you. Instead, he pushed you back slightly with his arm and continued walking, unaware of how your heart was sinking. You stumbled back slightly and tried to look at his face, but you were only met with his back facing you.
"What did I do? What's wrong?" You stammered out as you walked up to his side again and jumped in front of him, causing the two of you to bump into each other. He grabbed your upper arms to maintain your balance and leaned down to glare at you, your soft gaze held his glare in a silent war. You two tried to read the emotions that lay behind them but were stumped.
"Oh, it's nothing!" He spat at you as he mocked your words from earlier, and it clicked in your mind that he was upset at you for that. You furrowed your eyebrows in confusion - yes, Katsuki tends to get mad at people for silly reasons, but this felt like there was more to his anger.
"No, what's really going on Katsuki? One second we're having fun inside and the next you're pushing me away, It's really not fair you know?" You rambled, instinctively moving close to his chest for warmth only to be rejected with a shove.
Katsuki's throat kept tightening as he grew angrier at himself, he couldn’t bring himself to grow mad at you - he was embarrassed of his personal stupidity. How could he allow himself to believe that you viewed him any different than your classmates did, how could he allow himself to be so vulnerable? Katsuki's insecurities started bubbling in his stomach and thoughts of you only hanging out with him out of pity came into the picture. He was feeling many things at once and he couldn’t think straight, he hated how someone could be the root of these strange emotions, and he hated how he liked some of them. Katsuki liked the butterflies that fluttered in his stomach when you were nearby, and how hot he would feel when you would smile at him. He wasn’t stupid, he knew that he liked you; he just did not want to acknowledge it out of fear. As he glared down at your glossy eyes, he hated how badly he wanted to pull you back into his arms and apologize. “Not fair?” He mocked you again, “You’re the one that started acting weird after that shitty phone call, and it pisses me off! If you’re uncomfortable around me then stop hanging out with me, I don’t need your pity.” He finally spat out, his angry tone masking how he almost stuttered.
Your gaze flickered from one of his eyes to the other as you processed his words, realizing how Katsuki must’ve interpreted your flustered behavior. You sighed, your hot breath fogging in the cold air. “No no,” You began and held your arms close to your body, stepping forward once more. “I don’t feel uncomfortable around you nor pity you. I admire you so much, really, and I love hanging out with you.“ You gulped and quickly wiped your cold nose before reaching out for him again, except he allowed you to embrace him this time. You could hear his heart thumping and his body turn stiff from the contact, and he slowly grabbed the fabric of the back of your hoodie.
“Stop rambling and just tell me why you were acting like that, idiot.” He dismissed you and leaned back slightly to have a view of your face, although his grip on you remained. You felt your throat close up at his request, knowing that you’d have to tell him what Ururaka told you. Your face felt like it had turned redder, if even possible, and you looked up at him. The snow was starting to collect on his blonde hair, and even on his eyelashes. His red eyes were no longer holding an angry expression, however, causing your anxieties to dissipate slightly.
“Uhm, well Ururaka started teasing me when she heard I was with you...” You trailed off, hoping he’d catch the hint and not force you to elaborate anymore. Only it wasn’t that simple, as his eyebrows furrowed once again.
“The fuck for? ‘Cause you’re hanging with someone like me?” Katsuki's body jumped slightly as he quickly defended himself, rolling his eyes before landing his gaze back to yours. This time it was your eyebrows that furrowed.
“What?” You blabbered slightly, exasperated by his response. “No, silly. It’s cause, you know…” You whispered as you trailed off, biting your quivering lip - since when were you two so close? Katsuki continued to watch you be unable to maintain eye contact while he thought, and his silence caused you to hang your head slightly out of desperation. You were beyond flustered now, you’d hope he would catch on by now so you wouldn’t have to spell it out for him; Ururaka was teasing you because she was aware of how deep of a crush you held for the hothead. Right as you gained the courage to spit it out, you locked eyes with him and suddenly your voice was caught in your throat - his lips were slightly parted and he looked nervous now rather than upset. You felt hope, finally he must’ve realized what you were trying to say.
“Say it,” Katsuki whispered. Your eyes widened slightly and almost choked at his blatant words. Slowly, his hands move from behind you to grab ahold of your shoulders. He leaned down closer to you as you remained silent, unaware that he was just as nervous as you were. You were both in the same boat, afraid to admit your feelings in case it ruined what you had; in case the other didn’t feel the same way. “Say it, say you like me.” He spoke with a rasp, gently moving one hand to your hold cheek. His hands were cold, and from the close proximity all you could smell was him; his signature caramel. You almost melted into his touch, moving your hands to grab the fabric on his chest. You were sure he could hear your heartbeat by now due to how silent it was; at least you assumed it was, all you could focus on currently was him… Your thoughts were being consumed by him, of him. By now he was desperately looking into your eyes, looking for anything that showed you did not feel the same. However, he didn’t have a chance to find anything before you spoke.
“I like you.” You confessed, “I wasn’t uncomfortable because of you, I was nervous because Ururaka teased me and said we were on a date. Then I got all self-conscious because I know you don’t like me back, so spare me the teasing and pretend I never told you.” Katsuki listened closely to your confession and couldn’t help but smirk at the irony of the situation. You glared at him, assuming his smirk was taunting you, and started to move away from his hold. You know how he is, but you’d hoped he wouldn’t go this low to tease you when you’re this vulnerable; except he did and it upset you and you swore your heart lost its rhythm. Instead, Katsuki pulled you back and cupped your face, your arms falling back into their spot against his chest. The two of you stood there, amidst the quiet of the dark snowy street, enveloped in a world of your own. As you locked eyes, the world seemed to fade away, leaving only the sound of your heavy breathing in the silence. Slowly, almost hesitantly, he leaned closer. With a softness that betrayed his usual intensity, Katsuki's eyes fluttered closed, drawing you in like a magnet.
Your breath caught in your throat as his warm lips met your cold ones, sending a jolt of electricity through your body. Time seemed to stand still as you savored the sensation, the contrast of his warmth against the chill of the winter night sending shivers down your spine. Closing your eyes you kissed back, moving your warm gloved hands to his face. It was like you two were the only people on this Earth, you never wanted this moment you’d been dreaming of to end. Eventually, he pulled away and rested his forehead against yours, eyes still shut as he spoke with a playful tone.
“I like you too.”
