LONG POST 🚨 I thought about quitting last week. School is hectic. Work is hectic. My time is limited. Just a ton of excuses. I cried last week and I was so overwhelmed. I kept telling @dr_ju_ice that I was overly anxious and finally told her, “IM NOT COMPETING.” Then I emailed my coach (@jessicadolias) and said, “I CAN’T COMPETE.” I knew as soon as I said “can’t” that I was in the wrong. That would mean that I’m incapable and that couldn’t be further from the truth. - - Coach JD immediately emailed me back and asked if I was ok? I told her about my bumps in the road and she got it, but she wouldn’t let me quit. She assured me that it was ok to press pause and to remember what my priorities are (school and me). Needless to say, I’m not quitting, but I’m pressing pause and it’s ok. - - Just because I’m not competing this year, doesn’t mean I have to stop chasing my fitness goals. Bombshell has so many options available and I’m thankful for the team that has turned into family. I still get to put in work, just on my own schedule with a number of small goals in between. - - It sucks missing this year, but I just take that to mean that I’ll be a beast next year. To my ladies struggling in the fitness or personal world, remember that it’s ok to falter and you may even fall but DON’T STOP! I’ve been a Student-Athlete my entire life; therefore, I understand juggling both endeavors can be very taxing. While attending the University of Pennsylvania for my undergraduate education, I worked 2+ jobs, ran Varsity track, joined a sorority and participated in numerous clubs while simultaneously preparing for NPC Nationals (where I received my IFBB Professional Card). I believe having financial assistance, in general, will decrease the amount of stress students have to endure. Therefore, I am excited to announce the Cydney Gillon Student-Athlete Scholarship.
