I answered something similair a while back here: https://www.tumblr.com/sajanrai/723430998150397952/how-do-you-get-all-of-the-beautiful-textures-in?source=share You can find textures online or make your own if you have a scanner/some grainy paper about. I also like to think about what kind of effect I want rather than slapping it on - like if whether really trying to achieve a strong physical resemblance to some form/medium, or something that just looks digitally crunchy. True Grit has some neat stuff - i find their packs a bit overwhelming (/pricey) sometimes, but their grain shaders one is a really nice!

People have been asking me what happened to the Dreamspace site for ages, and when I was gonna do something about it.

So, I finally found a backup of the site and uploaded it to neocities where it was hosted originally (and by originally i mean for the first few days of the first installment coming out in 2013 where neocities was down a lot).

Here you go, a trippy tale of gifs and interfaces done by my sleep deprived self over 10 years ago, with music by Neon Shudder and editing on parts 2 and 3 by @blackiochronicles

I've always wanted to break away from the rigid webcomic format I boxed myself into in later years and try something weird and experimental again, but never got around to it. But maybe now's the time?

Dude, I LOVE your style so much! The way you compose your art within circles a lot of the time is really cool, and your coloring is really evocative. Do you have any tips for someone still struggling a little with composition and color?

Thanks for these kind words! My usual caveat before any generalised advice is to advise leaning in to whatever it is that makes you tick - so analysing what it is about colour choices and compositions that appeal to you (whether in art, packaging design, etc!) (This goes for working digitally) With colour - using the hue/saturation/lightness tool really helped me understand it better! It can mean a lot more time spent tweaking them, but over time helps you build up an idea of what looks best more intuitively. Feel like I often lean towards relatively centered compositions, despite enjoying really unconventional/off-kilter ones. I try to incorporate elements of that in my pieces - deliberately making things a bit 'off', or weird. Juxtaposition is pretty central to my practice, so I think I usually attempt to find a balance between something that looks both controlled and chaotic. Hope this is helpful somehow/thanks for asking!
