THIS IS SO CUTE PLS I WOULD MARRY ATSUMU IN MY PROM DRESS ANYDAY uhhhh i’m crying :’)
it’s nine in the evening, you and atsumu stand in your old prom clothes, surrounded by your friends, under the pinprick of stars, readying to get married.
the prom clothes were suna’s idea, he figured that an event like this would require at least formal looking outfits, and since everything was so last minute, the prom clothes were the most viable option.
osamu suggested the park for the ceremony (if you could even call it that) since it’s a good touch of air with its breezes every now and then, and with its flowers and lights, it takes a lot of the pressure off with getting married in the dark.
it’s a wedding, and it’s disheveled and unorganized, and extremely (shockingly) small, but you wouldn’t have it any other way.
“are you sure about this?” osamu nudges his brother, standing by his side under a makeshift arch.
atsumu breaths out a big gust of air, and he looks at you, and he looks back grinning to his brother, “yea, we’re sure.”
this still doesn’t feel like a good idea, but you’re doing it anyway, because atsumu has always trumped good ideas.
osamu smiles, looking at suna, “they’re sure.”
everything’s prepared and ready; atsumu’s job, his slot on an official professional volleyball team, the apartment two blocks away from your campus that’s both big and small enough for the two of you to share — all that’s left to do now is for you two to actually get married.
atsumu’s nervous, but it’s his wedding day, so he has the right to be.
“did suna really get ordained?” you laugh thinking about it.
(you forgot why exactly you chose suna to do the marrying bit, but it’s too late to ask now, and he’s already in his suit and tie, in the middle of the both of you, with an ‘i’ll do my best’ attitude.)
(he’s one of your closest friends in the world, you love him.)
suna nods, smiling, “it’s one more thing off my bucket list.”
and atsumu looks at him, “don’t joke.”
if he’s honest, it doesn’t feel like a wedding.
it just feels like a bunch of kids playing dress up, getting married in the middle of a park, and carelessly falling in love.
“you’re nervous.” you tell atsumu, his hand in yours as you both face each other, and you smile.
he looks at you, pink in the face, “i’m getting married.”
you look at him, tittering, “i’m getting married too.”
and osamu rolls his eyes, “you’re both idiots.”
he’s right, atsumu thinks, because all his life he never expected to be getting married so early, so young — so unprepared, but then again, all his life he never expected to burn for you as much as he does now.
“is this a bad idea?” you ask atsumu, not really looking for an answer, and you laugh.
suna answer for him, “definitely.”
atsumu rolls his eyes, shooting suna an irritant glare, “did we really have to bring suna?”
so suna scoffs in response, “i’m the one doing the marrying here.”
and you laugh, because even until now they’re being stupid — the same stupid boys you met way back then, the same stupid boys helping you get married now.
it’s improper, unclassy, and definitely not what you’ve dreamed of when you’ve thought of weddings, and yet, you wouldn’t have it any other way.
you’re excited.
you give atsumu a smile, “we’re getting married.”
and he grimaces, “by suna.”
and you laugh, reassuring him, “we’ll remember to file the papers in the morning.”
atsumu’s young, and so are you, but the both of you have planned and gone through all the possibilities this marriage would imply, and in every single one of them, he never saw a sign where he’d ever learn to leave you.
marriage is forever, and he would like to be with you for forever and a day.
he’s excited too, because you were either going to be the person he marries or the worst breakup of his life, and he just couldn’t see a future with the latter option.
atsumu touches your hand, “you gonna change yer mind?”
“no.” you shake your head, smiling as he does so too, and you stifle a laugh as he nods, taking your hand fully into his.
he tells you, grinning his trademark cheshire smile, “don’t ya ever change yer mind.”
it’s nine in the evening, under the pinprick of stars, a bunch of kids in their old prom clothes, getting married and falling in love.
