Happy 17th anniversary, Super Paper Mario 💙

This time I wanted to draw a little something that connected to the game’s lore and also put my own spin on it. I’ve always loved the “Of Bats and Men” story that Carson tells you at the Overthere bar, and love that it implies Nastasia’s backstory a lot!

This is of the Count saving a bat Nastasia’s life from a trap, not knowing of what fate awaits them both next. He’s comforting her, keeping her warm and comforted in his arms until she’s safe to fly again.

This also doubles as a redraw of a piece I did back in late 2021, so it’s a fun look at how the designs have changed through the years!

Just like the moon’s many phases, Nastasia grows and changes as time passes 🌙

I began making this on the birthday I gave to my interpretation of Nastasia, March 21st! That was the night she got her human form from a shooting star after being saved by the Count.

A fateful encounter underneath the full moon 🌙

The world of Pairlune has been her home ever since she was only a bat. Upon gaining her humanoid form thanks to a shooting star, Nastasia finds herself getting used to her new reflection and surroundings in a way she’s never experienced before. Each step led her towards a new curiosity, and to a fateful encounter with Count Bleck, who saved her life when she was just a bat stuck in a trap.

I wanted to draw this piece again with the new designs!! It’s one of my favorites and it was fun to see these two fatefully meeting each other once again! 💙🌙

New notes, same clipboard 💙

I have been working on a Super Paper Mario AU project, Metamorphose for about 2 years now and created a commemorative doodle for it!

This was based off of a “what if” I had of if first draft Nastasia (2022, on left) met current draft Nastasia (2024, on right)! I can imagine 2022 Nastasia would say things like, “What big ears you have..” or “Yeah, so, you’ve been on all these adventures?”

Designs have grown, story beats were added, even the characters themselves have changed/developed quite a bit! But despite this, Metamorphose and Nastasia has some of the same cores within. She has come so far over the past years and it’s been so nice to see her grow like this ;_;

Even if Nastasia has new notes, it will always be on the same clipboard. Thank you all for the support over the years, it’s been nice to share various pieces I’ve done with you guys! 💙

~ Past, Present, and Future ~

A little doodle concept I did back in December that I wanted to share! Just like the moon, Nastasia goes through many phases as she grows over time. Bat Nastasia is at the top center because she is like the moon, staying the same throughout it all, while her human form is its many phases!

On the top center, is Bat Nastasia. And from left to right is: Nastasia when she met the count, Secretary Nastasia, and Nastasia at some point in the postgame!

This is a young Blumiere and Timpani enjoying each other‘s company as they look at a rainbow together! 🌈

Blumiere’s eyes were filled with life and joy whenever he spent time with Timpani. In her part of the world, there were all sorts of beautiful sights and new experiences around every corner. One such experience was seeing a rainbow, something he now longs to see again as Count Bleck.
