I somehow fell down a weird internet rabbit hole and ended up binge watching Blippi episodes and. y'all. I was expecting it to be bad, but I wasn't expecting it to be bad in *quite this way*. I almost wish I smoked weed because this seems like the kinda show that would be hilarious to watch while stoned. The camerawork and stilted acting give it the look and feel of a 2007 amateur youtube skit. 90% of the dialogue is just him going "whooooah" in a way that comes off like he has no idea what else to say. The awkward laughter, occasional twitching, and how many episodes are inexplicably filmed in the middle of the fucking night all combine to create an unexpectedly post-apocalyptic energy that's impossible to ignore once you've picked up on it. It feels like you're watching the beginning of an indie horror film, right before the bodies start to pile up, except it's not it's a wildly successful childrens franchise with merch and live shows and behind it all is a dead-eyed man wearing suspenders and a striped beanie going to indoor playgrounds at 2am with dead eyes and a forced smile. Blippi is a cog of the corporate machine and he knows it. Blip three times if you need help, man.
