I'll say black but i dont really have a favorite!

5’5 (and 3/4 thank you very much)

somewhere around 14 idk i gave up on counting

for skz probably ssick or easy but not skz probably ohio is for lovers by hawthorne heights

oh probably either the scream movies or unironically the twilight movies (theyre my childhood comfort movies)

7. Who would be your ideal partner?

Someone who makes me laugh and takes the time to understand me.

8. Do you want children?

I've said no for a really long time but i think if i met the right person and the circumstances were ideal then maybe.

9. Have you gotten in trouble with the law?

Not really other than a few times of being a stupid teenager nothing serious though. Watching my parents screw up a lot when i was young probably had a lot to do with that.

10. What color socks are you wearing?

oh god i hate socks so much. i only wear them when i have to and not a second longer.

11. Favorite type of music?

this is such a cliché but i really do listen to everything. edm, pop, pop punk, metal, sad songs, happy songs, hell on occasion even a tiny bit of country (only carrie underwood lets not get carried away)

12. How many pillows do you sleep with?

2! One horizontal and one vertical. Kinda like a half body pillow i guess? idk i have to be hugging something to fall asleep.

13. What position do you sleep in?

im a diagnosed insomniac so really whatever position my body finally passes out in... there's a lot of tossing and turning most nights.

14. What don’t you like when you’re sleeping?

Bright lights (a tv or any sort of light on an appliance) or dead silence i need a fan or rain or SOMETHING.

15. Have you tried archery?

Yeah actually my grandfather used to take me hunting when i was younger. I never actually killed anything but i got pretty good at hitting cans and targets :]

ohhhhh either strawberries or blackberries or pineapple... idk i love fruit so much.

I can be when I have to be. I hate lying though it always brings drama and negative energy.

Oh my grandmother makes Jag on special occasions and its one of my favorites. Other than that as of recently ive been eating japchae so much i literally have a craving for it like every other day.

sigh. my room? depression disaster area. Everything else in my life? Severe OCD neat freak (im talking labels, sorted by color and size, the whole nine yards)

24. Most used phrase?

buh. it really has no meaning its just a sound i make about 200 times a day. i also swear like a sailor so if not buh then probably cunt or fuck.

25. How long does it take you to get ready?

Depends on where im going and whos gonna be there. anywhere from 10 minutes to 45 minutes.

Of course, im the funniest and smartest person i know. (on a real note my hyperactive imagination goes crazy so i spend most days rambling to myself about nonsense.)

All day everyday like im in a fucking musical or something.

Eh. ive been told i am but i think i could be decent if i took lessons.

Sharks/The ocean (its more a fear of the unknown because what the fuck even lives down there)

Absolutely not. I learned my lesson in middle/high school that shit brings nothing but bad vibes and negative energy.

I wish i could say short because my hair drives me crazy most days but i also hate how i look with short hair so long i suppose.

introvert but situational extrovert (ill be extroverted if theres someone more introverted than me solely because i cannot stand awkward tension) not quite an ambivert but somewhere close to one.

Groups of super outgoing people. I always get too afraid to talk in fear of ruining the flow of conversation or being talked over.

idk probably justin bieber or nick jonas

4. Both of my ears and both of my nipples. i want to get my bellybutton done soon though.

9 but im hoping to work on my leg sleeve again soon.

Depends on whos chasing me.

Brown right now. It was half black half blonde but i wanted to focus on getting my hair healthy for a while.

Blue/Green/Gray depends on who you ask and the lighting in the room.

Not much im a pretty calm person but when im playing video games thats a different story.

No. My father chose it and i dont speak to him.

IF i had a kid i would want a boy 100%. As someone whos mother had 3 babies when i was 16/17/18 i can confidently say little girls are the spawns of the devil and little boys are rays of sunshine.

Mental fortitude and my empathy for others.

I give second (and third and fourth) chances to people that do not deserve it.

Light gray but i keep lots and lots of blankets around too.

Bullies plus Kaeya as sweets and desserts i like based on the vibes and whether or not they'd eat them:

Kaeya = creme brulee. Definitely drags Diluc along to help him make it and uses him as his personal blowtorch. Diluc can't stay mad though since they really do like spending time with each other and will make up any excuse to do so.

Diluc = giant 3 pound gummy worm. Probably eat it with a knife and fork too, the socially constipated fire hazard (affectionate) Yelan is horrified everytime. Not because of the knife and fork thing, but because of the amount of sugar hes eating.

Ayato = dirt cake. Especially if its disguised as a pot of soil really well and the gummy worms look disgustingly realistic. Would eat it both ironically and unironically. He didnt eat it with the bullies after a while because he picked up the wrong pot and ate a mouthful of real actual dirt. They teased him about it for 3 weeks.

Shenhe = honeysuckle nectar. If you get it, you get it, if you dont, you dont.

Yelan = you know those like-- cream puff challenges where you have to find the legit cream puff and not eat the wasabi one? Yeah that but the challenge for her is to find the wasabi one. The bullies joined in once and watched Yelan dramatically overreact when she accidentally got the cream filled cream puff. Fell over and died like those scenes in Indian soap operas. They gave her their puffs to console her.

Ya know

I was just doodling genshin desserts.

I actually put Diluc as strawberry cheesecake. You know, perfect cheesecake. Delicious creamy smooth and just perfectly sweet with a bit of tang.

Shenhe's as honeysuckle nectar is perfect.

Ayato, I thought of more as a blueberry tart. But one of those really fancy ones. With the perfectly smooth filling. With Blueberries and flowers elegantly decorating it. Maybe even like a white chocolate cage over the top of it.

I imagine that Yelan is more like a blackberry ice cream maybe even mixed in with some dark chocolate. More of a tangy bitter taste.

Kaeya is just a dessert that features Bailey's. Most likely a trifle. Very sweet, very alcoholic, though. (I actually really enjoy baking with alcohol a lot)

(Also, when I was thinking about this. I had Childe as carrot cake and Zhongli as a dark chocolate cake)

Hello! Would it be alright to request Scenario 8 for Mammon? ♡♡ I dont know if you take like additional requests onto the prompt but itd be nice if the MC was very soft and never usually got into trouble themselves haha, but thats all! Hope this isnt too much sorry ;3;

Ever since the Doll!MC headcanons I have developed a soft spot for soft MC 😌💓 (I am so sorry for the cornyness lol) but this isn’t Doll!MC it’s just a soft MC. Ngl, I didn’t know whether this was interpreted as MC arguing or Mammon arguing and after rewriting this like 3 times I just went with soft MC being the one arguing. They’re still soft so hope that’s okay 😭! Reader is gender neutral!

Prompt Scenario: “Person B gets into a heated argument with someone. Person B begins threatening them, so Person A picks up Person B and carries/drags them out of the room before anyone gets hurts.” with Mammon!

You and Mammon went to the café after school to study and do some homework, after he convinced you that the “environment” would totally help him focus (where really it was for just a break and some time to spend with you, but you’re fine with that), and dragged you here. You’re trying to help him with his Hexes and Curses homework, but you two are having too much fun eating the variety of pastries and laughing together, so you suggested a quick break to get back focused.

“See MC, told ya this is a good idea!” Taking a bite of your slice of cake, he leaned back, arms folded behind his head. “And look at how much we’re getting done!” Well he wasn’t wrong, he does seem like he’s understanding the material more, and he’s actually getting some of his work done instead of putting it off like usual. Plus, he’s relaxed, genuinely smiling, and that’s enough for you to be smiling too.

“Well you were right! After all, they don’t call you the Great Mammon for nothing.”

“Y-Yeah! You got that right!” He couldn’t even hide the blush on his face quick enough, but you just laughed softly at him, eating some more. “Now, are you ready to do some more work? If we start now we might have time to-”

“Oh my Diavolo, do you ever shut up?”

You both froze, and Mammon looked past your head to pinpoint the source of the voice. Neither of you recognized the demon, but it didn’t take long for Mammon to growl at them. “Oi! Who the hell do you think you’re talking to-”

“Mammon please, it’s okay! I was probably being a little loud”, you tapped his hand and turned to face the demon. “Sorry about that! I didn’t mean to disturb you-”

“You’re really going to listen to this human? What are you, their dog?” He just laughed, wiping a fake tear from his eye. “You’re the Avatar of Greed, supposedly the strongest right under Lucifer himself, and you’re letting this tell you what to do? HAH! How pathetic.”

Mammon opened his mouth, no doubt ready to argue, but you beat him to it.

“Hey! You shouldn’t say that, he’s not pathetic!”

“He is if he’s lowering himself to your standards. Geez, even following that shady wizard Salmon would've been better than this."

"Actually, his name is Solomon, and that's not very nice to say either-"

"Does it look like I care? Cause I don't. All you humans are the same to me anyway; always beneath me."

You just sighed and turned back around, he isn't worth the trouble. Even after your time down here, while most demons have come to terms with bettering the relationship between you two, some still held onto their beliefs and were highly against it. Mammon was fuming across the table, slamming his textbook closed and shoving whatever papers he could inside his bag. He's trying to keep his cool, but just hearing the words coming out of his mouth is making his patience run thin, and he doesn't need to lose control in front of you. "C'mon MC, let's go."

"Huh, Mammon, you sure? We haven't finished our work yet."

"It's fine, we can do it at home. Besides, it's almost time for dinner and Satan's makin' dried blackberry newt legs, and I don't want Beel to eat 'em all again!"

You couldn't stop the guilt from bubbling in your stomach after you saw the fake smile he sent your way, but you understood. Your time was spoiled by this stranger, but you promise to make it up to him in anyway you can! His hand was already on the door, pushing it open-

"Tch, no wonder everybody sees you as a disgrace."

“Oh yeah?! Come say that to my fac-” He spun around, moving his way towards the man-

“What is your problem?”

Mammon is shocked. You, the most delicate and soft-spoken person he’s ever came in contact with, who never gets in trouble, so kind that he swears that you’re an real angel, who hated any type of conflict, is actively arguing in his defense.

"You all are always picking on him, always attacking him for no reason! It's not right, it's not fair, and he doesn't deserve that kind of treatment!" You couldn't stop the tears welling up in your eyes. "Why can't you see how much that hurts him? Why can't you bring yourself to care?! Just because you're a demon doesn't mean you have to act so heartless!"

Now the café was going quiet, both customers and employees looking on at the dispute.

"You're just being so mean, acting so ugly, and for no reason too! You're talking about how much a disgrace he is, but look at how you're acting. If anything, you're the one being a disgrace right now."

"Do you think I'm going to let a weakling like you talk down to me?!"

"And you think I'm going to let you keep attacking Mammon?!"

“Oh yeah, what are you gonna do about it if I do? Cry some more?”

"No, but what I will do is- EEP!"

You couldn't stop the squeak coming from your lips as you felt yourself being swept off your feet, literally. You got even more flustered when you saw Mammon's exposed chest and felt just how hot his skin was against yours. You felt the breeze of the Devildom air hit your face, and then remember seeing everything in a blur as he took off in the night sky.

"Hey MC, you okay?"

Mammon stood outside your door with your dinner, fidgeting and shuffling nervously foot to foot. Once you two got home, you stormed to your room, tears barely being held back. He went to follow suit, but was stopped by the others who were both worried and ready to rip him a new one all at once. After being grilled and explaining everything, Lucifer ordered everyone to leave you be for now, and that he will personally see to having this matter resolved. Mammon didn't even eat for dinner, instead taking your plate and rushing to your room, waiting.

He knocked softly on your door again, with no response. That's fine, he'll wait out here all night if he needs to. "I'm sorry about tonight. I-I messed up, I should have stepped in sooner. I'm suppose to be your protector, your first man, and I screwed that up. How am I suppose to be there for you if I can't even protect ya from something like this?"

He doesn't know when the tears started welling in his eyes or when they started to roll down his cheeks, but he didn't care. It wasn't important right now. "Just- I'm sorry, MC. Give me another chance! I care- I care too much about ya to let something happen to you, and I just knew that if we stayed there any longer, I-I don't know what would've happened."

And he wasn't lying. He's the brother known for his patience, and the only one besides Asmo that hasn't transformed out of anger to you, but he could feel his restrain slipping away the more he listened to that man. He couldn't remember the last time he lost his temper and transformed besides from today, and the only thing he could think of is getting you both out of that situation, before he does something that he might regret (or at least, regret doing it in front of you).

"And you stuck up for me, for me, of all people. I don't know how many people would do that", he gave a dry chuckle. "I don't wanna lose you, MC. Even if-if you stay mad at me forever, I won't stop protecting you. I won't stop caring for you. I won't stop loving you-"

The door opened and he dropped the food, after you jumped onto him and he had to catch you. His heart cracked after he heard you sobbing, but he was left dumbfounded after you could hear you laughing too.

"Oh M-M-Mammon, I love you too!"

You weren't mad at him, nowhere near. It's just that you could feel your heart breaking every time this happened, and you never understood why people had to make him their personal punching bag all the time. You hated how everyone treated him like he was unimportant, just a waste of time, and you don't know how many times you almost cried because of it. He always tried to brush it off like it was nothing, and show you a quick smile to try and change the subject, but you could tell that those comments do get to him, no matter how much of a facade he tries to put on.

Peppering his face with kisses, he didn't have it in him to shove you away (not like he was going to anyway, your kisses are to die for). But you still needed to eat, and he wanted to see your face light up when you see that he saved some leftover cake for you guys to share.

After he's done getting attacked and berated, you're always there to pick him up afterwards. Hugging him tightly, murmuring words of comfort, anything that can lift his spirits and show that he's cared for. You always do your best to make sure that he knows that he is loved, even if it's just you showing him. You let it be known that he deserves better, he doesn't deserve that kind of treatment, and you always make sure that you do everything in your power to remind him of that.

He thinks that it’s time to return the favor, and tonight would be a good opportunity to start.

You hummed to yourself, eating out of a bag of chocolate chips as you sat on the countertop. You couldn't sleep that night and Uma was fast asleep and you didn't want to bother her so you went to the kitchen and started baking muffins.

"(Name)?" Uma asked, walking into the kitchen. "Why are you baking muffins at 3 in the morning?" Your girlfriend asked you. "Couldn't sleep, and Harry wouldn't answer his phone." You shrugged, hopping down from the counter top.

"Why're you up anyway?" You crossed your arms, looking at her. "You weren't in your bed." She yawned, stretching. "On the island we couldnt bake, I might like Boredon just for this reason."

"Lassies, you should go to bed." Harry grumbled walking into the kitchen. "How'd you know we were in here?" Uma asked, You stayed near the oven, waiting for it to ding.

(Name) always bake at 3 am when she can't sleep." Harry shrugged, grabbing the bag of chocolate chips.

"It's probably the new setting." Uma sighed, placing her head on your shoulder as the oven dinged. "I'd steal at 3 am back on the isle." You shrugged her off your shoulder and took the muffins out of the oven, with a mitt obviously.

You hummed a little as you turned the oven off and looked over at Uma. "Chocolate chip?" She rose an eyebrow.

"Oh hush, I made a blackberry one for you, strawberry for Gil, and raspberry for Har." You pecked her nose. "You're too nice." She mumbled, kissing the top of your head.

"Hard to believe you're even a VK sometimes." Harry said, laughing a little.

"Go back to bed you two." You pushed them both out of the kitchen.

"This your way of saying you wanna be alone?" Harry rose an eyebrow.

"Yes."

i’m back! i’m just gonna do all of these to distract myself from eating

1. i’m 6′1, im over 250 unfortunately 2. answered my height, but yes i do like it, i wish i was taller though 3. i dont really have a thinspiration besides random pictures i find on here :/ 4. my greatest fear is that i’ll reach my ugw and then gain it all back and more like everyone tells me i will 5. i want to lose weight because i’m not healthy at all. i started binging when my dad died and it never stopped, i go in restrict/binge cycles and have since i was 11, my weight is so high its embarrassing so yes i’m doing it for me, i want to feel like people actually care about and desire me 6. answered in last 7. my family does know but they think i’m doing it healthily 8. i’m in a wheelchair :( so i don’t really have one 9. yeah growing up i hit 6′ at a super young age (like in elementary school) and it made my body bigger so everyone would call me fat even when i weighed barely over 100 lbs. it was terrible 10. honestly the hardest thing i’ve given up is pizza. i still eat thin crust sometimes but man i would kill to just be able to go to little caesars 11. again don’t have one 12. i eat eggs, rice cakes with jam, fruits/veggies (i like carrot, broccoli, blackberries, raspberries, oranges especially), shirataki noodles when i have them, sometimes cheese, and a lot of greek yogurt. that’s pretty much my daily rotation. 13. unhealthy definitely and it’s still not fast enough 14. my ugw is 130 and i honestly don’t know if i’ll ever reach it but i hope to reach it before i start college next september 15. yes im vegetarian! i’m not sure if it’s helped me lose weight though. 16, i’ve been suffering this since i was 11 years old xD 17, uh yeah??? 18, my ultimate weakness is enchiladas and tamales.... man they’re so good, also cheesecake 19. i eat fast food pretty regularly since my mom forces me to, i usually try to order low cal things and small sizes 20. i’m not sure i’m trying the frankie stein diet i saw someone post on here and so far it’s good 21. lmao for pants i’m a 22-24 and shirts XL-2X and it makes me wanna vomit 22. my lowest weight was 122, when i first got my ED, and i would literally give anything to go back to that. i gained for Trauma Reasosn. 23. definitely 24. i honestly don’t agree we should NOT promote eating disorders but i think giving people with eds a safe community is helpful as long as no one encourages it 25. nope 26. i just want to feel loved and admired and envied. i want to feel like i am worth love and not disgusting. 27. very badly. i am an impulsive eater so i have to literally stay out of the kitchen at all times 28. i honestly do but i don’t think i’ll ever get it 29. i think everyone is beautiful as long as they are kind and pure hearted 30. uhh not doing this one

Renee Gets Salty About Dark Magic

This post got long, and got away from me, so I’ll tl;dr it

1. dark magic is a metaphor for consumption and materialism and is ultimately bad because it harms others unnecessarily and is not a sustainable resource

2. the elves were dicks for banishing humans but (especially if humans sucked all the magic out of the land themselves) they were kind of justified, even if it was an extreme measure

3. Eating meat is not the same as dark magic if you’re looking at things from an animistic point of view, which the elves likely do

4. it’s okay to like problematic characters and you don’t have to portray Ezran as a monstrous enfant terrible to feel okay about thinking Viren is justified in what he does. In fact, pretty please stop doing this, everyone in all fandoms. It’s fine if you don’t like the protags but that doesn’t mean you get to say Ezran or Rayla or whoever is EVIL. It’s called Ron the Death Eater and it’s a fandom trope that has pissed me off for going on fifteen years. Deliberately misreading the text isn’t cute. Stop doing it.

5. The show isn’t over, be patient, you’ll probably get to see some comeuppance for stuff anyway. And if you don’t, there’s always fanfiction.

6. For the love of baby adoraburrs please tag posts that go in the vein of “the writing is bad because Viren is portrayed as a classic villain/elves good humans bad/the protags aren’t held accountalbe” with “TDP CRITICAL” I would greatly appreciate it because I’m getting super annoyed with posts that deliberately misrepresent canon to uphold a favored side and it’s affecting my enjoyment of the show. Now! Actual long and discourse-heavy post under the cut!

Ugh I don’t want to start a big ol’ argument with people because I’m still on vacation and don’t want to spend the rest of today arguing about cartoons on the internet, but this has been on the kettle for a while and I feel QUITE STRONGLY about some of these things, so just... let me express my views here and don’t come for me because I’m about to talk about religion and sociology.

Dark Magic is a metaphor for unchecked consumption and capitalism. 1. The theory i’m seeing floating around that got my dander up is that the elves and dragons drained the western half of the continent of magic to keep magic away from humans. I think that, based on what we’ve learned from canon, this is highly unlikely and would be weaker writing than what I think actually happened. Instead, Dark magic was going on for a good solid 800 years (Rise of Elarion is 2000 years before canon) before Sol Regem faced off with Viard (1200 years before canon). The division of Xadia was another 200 years after that. Humans had a solid honking millennium of unchecked dark magic. It is quite likely that the reason the west is entirely devoid of magic, and that humans were banished there, is because they sucked all the magic out of that half themselves. Poor innocent baby humans nothing. They got a taste of power and progress and, like real world humans, let that get WAY out of control.

2. “But Lujanne eats bugs, she’s a hypocrite for saying Claudia can’t squish bugs for pancakes” I want you to go down to your local new-age/witchy bookstore and find yourself an animist that eats meat. You are going to get glared at SO HARD if you whip out the “you think animals have souls but you eat meat!” chestnut. Because here’s the thing.

Eating meat/animal products is an act of life, necessary to sustain the life of someone else. We don’t vilify wolves for eating deer. You gotta eat to live your life, and the human (or, we can assume, bipedal humanoid) diet includes a need for complex protein chains, quite often found in animal meat.

But the reason that we find cannibalism repulsive in western society is because it’s eating another human, despite the fact that humans are made of meat. It’s eating something that we consider sentient, dignified and possessed of a soul. Of course, the taboo also derives from the fact that you can contract prion disease from consuming human meat, but people in 11th century Normandy didn’t know that. It is quite likely, especially given what we’ve seen of magical creatures and Ezran’s ability to talk to animals, that elves view non-human/elf creatures as sentient and possessed of a soul. If that’s the case, then OF COURSE they would see dark magic as horrific.

But eating meat is not on the same level because, as we see from the assassins, death is a part of life, and sometimes necessary. I imagine that hunting and taking a creature’s life for food is an act that is done with respect. The creatures are honored or thanked before they’re eaten or turned into leather. Highly ritualized to dignify that creature’s life. Dark magic doesn’t do that. Dark magic sucks the whole life out, without so much of a how do you do. It’s treating a person like a thing. It’s sucking all the life and essence out of someone so you can shoot fireballs or make fluffy pancakes. Lets be real - you don’t need to do either of those things, so the creature thus died in vain. 3. “The elves are selfish bastards for hogging all the magic.” I agree. Granted, their attitudes may have cooled in the ensuing centuries. It’s a new dawn, the era of Zubeia. We might see elves getting over their uppity selves and working to help teach humans magic. We might also see the show explore that kind of prejudice as Callum learns more magic. In fact, I hope we do. However, two wrongs dont make a right. If Japan bombs the absolute fuckshit out of Hawaii, that does not make it okay to flash-fry Nagasaki with a weapon that blights the land and its people for years and years afterward.

To the elves (who are magical creatures and therefore totally usable as spell components), that’s what dark magic is. Suddenly, haha oh fuck, the humans have a fucking NUKE that every elf and dragon in Xadia is vulnerable to. If a weapon was devised that ONLY a certain portion of the population was affected by, you better bet your sweet bippy that people would panic and make it forbidden and illegal, and severely punish the people who created it. ESPECIALLY if those people were already marginalized. Sucks, don’t it? Doesn’t mean the writing is bad for portraying people having a realistic reaction to something that is harmful to them. The elves aren’t justified in hogging the magic, and I hope future chapters will explore that. But the elves ARE a liiiiiittle bit justified in freaking out. I hold they could’ve come up with a better solution than BANISH HUMANS, but they didn’t. Makes for interesting story conflict, doesn’t it? 4. “Humans NEED dark magic!” / “Calling dark magic a shortcut is dumb” Did they tho? Did they really? Really really? We, modern day humans, don’t NEED smart phones (which rely on several rare earth minerals and are causing untold ecological disaster in areas where they’re miend). We, modern day humans, don’t NEED coal power (which is controlled by coal companies, who keep telling us that we totally do, despite many scientists saying that renewable energy is ready to go whenever). We don’t NEED blackberries from Mexico year-round, or a whole hell of a lot of the things we have come to rely on and consider part of our every day lives. All of these things are unnecessary and shortcuts to progress.

The only - ONLY! - good, necessary thing we’ve seen in canon that dark magic was required for was using the magma titan’s heart for saving people from famine.

A lot of the complaints about sustainable energy and efforts to heal the planet as climate change become increasingly a crisis stem from the fact that doing things RIGHT, in a way that is sustainable and doesn’t strip every last resource out of our home, is that it takes time. It takes SO MUCH TIME to do things properly. Yeah, we can keep going with our coal and our gas-guzzler cars and our fracking and our rare-earth metals... but we ARE going to run out. And then what? Dark magic is the same principle. Eventually, you’re going to run out of resources.

5. Where I think the show is going My main beef with those (and there’s a lot of ya, so I’m not intending to single anyone out) who say that the writing is lazy for dark magic bad elfs good is that the show is not over. Wonderstorm is doing their damndest to give us the saga. And they’ve said, out right, that there WILL be books, if nothing else.

You can’t judge a story’s merits when it’s only been half told. Right now, what the show has done is it has shown us the worst and best of the elves (for example, Khessa’s purity test vs Rayla refusing to kill Ez so she doesn’t perpetuate a cycle of violence) and the worst and best of the humans (ex: Viren forcibly turning thousands of people into monsters against their will vs Viren risking his life in order to save thousands of people from famine). The show has done well to demonstrate that there is good and bad in everyone, and it’s the choices you make and the respect you show others’ autonomy that makes you a good or bad person. The dominoes are in place. The saga has only begun. Being mad that Ezran burned an army (that he likely knew from Soren was invulnerable to fire) or that Aanya shot Kasef in the face (when Opeli would have told her that Kasef conspired behind Ezran’s back to usurp the throne, which is AN ACT OF WAR btw) means you aren’t looking at the big picture. There WILL be consequences for those actions in later seasons, mark my words.

I’m sorry if you’re a Viren or Claudia stan, but they have made choices that hurt other people, and it is in no way shape or form Ezran or Callum or Rayla or ANYONE ELSE’S fault that they made the choices they did. Instead of being mad at the show for not portraying your fav as an innocent victim, be glad that you got such a wonderfully complex set of villains who, quite likely, will get a bomb-ass redemption arc. In fact, I’ll bet you anything that Viren’s walk back from the edge has already begun. The dude fucking DIED, and he’s not going to be eager to get in there and get all grabby with the power any time soon.

That’s what good writing IS - conflict. Tension. People making morally questionable choices. We like it because every day people are hypocrites and morally questionable. You, and I, and everyone we know. Nobody’s perfect and getting cranky and painting the protagonists with the broad villain brush so you can feel good about liking a problematic fave is... some peak tumblr bullshit, tbh. It’s okay to like characters who aren’t perfect. How fucking boring fiction would be if everyone was perfect.

Now if I can ask my mutuals to please tag their criticisms of the show that go in the vein of “the writing is bad because dark magic is portrayed so negatively/they don’t hold the protags accountable/elves good humans bad” with “TDP critical” I would greatly appreciate it. It’s getting to the degree where things are becoming very not fun and making me cranky. Thank you, Renee out.

ok sorry if this is a stupid question, but mantids have always been my fav insect and ive always wanted to keep some. but ever since i learned that they can eat things like turtles, i'm always worried about if they can bite me very painfully 😅 since their mandibles are apparently that strong. has any of your mantids drawn blood? how do you avoid getting nibbled?

oh man, this is actually something i have experience in.if you go through my #mine tag, youll actually see that i have made several posts about my hierodula membranacea Babey, who absolutely LOVES fingers, including a pic of my bleeding finger.im not gonna lie, a grown 11cm mantis biting you in the tip of your finger DOES hurt. especially since you dont want to pry her off forcefully and potentially hurt her, so she will continue digging in.BUT, dear anon, good news.it is VERY easy to avoid.

a) the smaller a mantis, the smaller their mandibles and it also depends on the species. Candy, my heterochaeta orientalis, is very long, but her head is small and fragile. she even gets different food from other mantises her size because her mouth is tiny. i got bitten by paradoxa before and its barely noticeable. like a tiny faint needle prick.

different species are also different degrees of aggressive. paradoxa are very timid and allegedly even live well together in groups, so the likelihood of them attacking you is pretty much zero. meanwhile hierodula are big, strong, and aggressive (those are also amongst the ones that can catch hummingbirds, ive never heard of turtles) and have much sharper offensive reflexes. so depending on the species you wanna get you might not even have anything to worry about!

b) they dont attack randomly and dont typically bite in defense. they usually make themselves tall and kind of ‘punch’ with their arms when they feel threatened. no biting involved. whenever babey bit me it was because i was too impatient in handling her and my wriggling finger seemed like a food source - or i stupidly fed her crickets from my hands because im an idiot. shes big, so a finger seems like adequate prey to her.

all this can be avoided by getting proper equipment like tweezers you can feed them from and when you collect them from their terrarium scooping them up with a thick stick or a big cup or something first. once they’re securely on your hand it is unlikely theyll still decide to bite you. im also a firm believer that they /do/ get used to handling if you do it frequently enough, even if they can’t be trained in the classical sense.

c) no venemous species of mantises exist, so except for the pain from the wound theres not really anything that can happen and it heals quickly.

d) the sharp spines on their femurs that they use to hold their prey can be pretty painful as well (comparable to blackberry thorns) but again, it is unlikely you will be caught like that unless youre confused with food! Potato once accidentally ‘caught’ me because my hand was next to a cricket and immediately released me once she realized her mistake.

tl;dr biting is rare and can be very easily avoided. i know breeders who have never ever been hurt! so dont let that stop you from keeping these lovable beauties if you want to!hope i could be of help :3

i am a major rule follower, i am not at all adventurous and i like to stay in my comfort zone. my life is a mix of staying true to my comfort zone and doing what I feel is right, first instinct.

i carry your heart with me – do you believe in fate? what’s your secret to living a good life?

i tend to not believe in fate, it tends to make people not take responsibility for their actions and it leaves a bad taste in my mouth; predestination takes away humility from us. and i wouldnt say that im currently living a good life, its getting there but more often then not i would not describe my days as ‘happy’, more so just another day. but to make a day not outwardly bad, i firmly believe in having a really good breakfast in the morning and taking a shower at night. both of those really make my days better.

i wandered lonely as a cloud – what does nature mean to you? where do you feel most at peace?

nature for me is what comes to us instinctively and what we turn to for comfort in trying times. i feel the most at peace either at summer camp or in my bedroom with my cat :3

my early years were very happy, i was a very happy and funloving child. it was a time where i wasnt told about any of my family drama so i lived in blissful ignorance. i definitely miss being a child, all the way up to about 7th grade. its just been downhill from 8th grade and on.

my mortality is something of a burden i carry with me everyday, a reminder that every minute is precious and this is the only life i get, i have one shot to not fuck it up. i dont believe in the afterlife, the concept of death is something that if i think too hard about then itll fuck me up.

hope is the thing with feathers – what gives you hope? what would you tell your 10-year-old self?

hope comes from those news stories about good news, like charity donation goals being hit and remembered anniversaries and flower bouquets in public, there is good in the world and sometimes its hard to find but its always there. to my 10 year old self, i would tell her to not hold too tightly to those around you, and that life constantly changes so dont get too attached or comfortable because itll prevent you from growing in the future.

the road not taken – do you find it hard to make decisions? what regrets do you have?

its really hard to make decisions because i always assume that my ideas are wrong or bad so if someone else takes the lead, i cant be blamed. as far as regrets, i wish that in my past, i just put myself out there more. i couldve spent highschool actively seeking for possibilities instead of sulking and wishing they came to me. they dont ever, you have to find them.

still i rise – what's your relationship with yourself like? what are your best qualities?

i have a bad relationship to myself; if i admire one trait about myself, the other traits must be less than. for example, if i think i look nice one day, then i remember abt my grades or my writing and how much i hate both of those. i can never be fully at peace, it will never be enough to sate my psyche. my ‘best’ qualities depend on the day, right now i think i have nice eyelashes.

howl – can you express yourself freely? do you feel smothered by societal norms?

i struggle everyday to be my genuine self. its not so much societal norms but my own mind; i want to look nice but i dont want to attract too much attention. i want to be remembered but not for how good my ass looks or whatever. my biggest fear is that people see me as something desirable but only sexually so i want to dress how i feel but i cant because im terrified of the gaze of men on my campus.

the raven – are you in touch with your feelings? how would you describe the relationship between emotions & rationality?

im extremely in touch with my feelings. i can acknowledge when i am angry or sad or happy, even if i dont know why. i allow myself to feel my feelings and then let them pass, i hate bottling those things up. between emotions and rationality, i use my emotions 9 times out of 10. i ask myself, ‘what do i want?’ and the first thing i come up with, i know is what i truly want to do.

sonnet 116 – how do you define love? what qualities do you look for in a significant other?

i think love is everything; its the warmth of hanging out with familiar people, its when people remember facts about you, its a meaningful hug and its ‘this reminded me of you’. its different for everyone but i feel love in everything i do. in a significant other, the biggest thing is being able to make me laugh, if youre funny than im sold.

to autumn – what's your favorite season and why? what cherished memories do you associate with that season?

my favorite season is winter because it has lots of holiday warmth, good food, pleasant childhood memories, and comfortable clothing. also i love snow. i have very vivid memories of a blizzard in maryland when i was 11(?) years old, my neighbor tied a sled to the back of his ATV and dragged us around the cul de sac, it was so much fun!!

the waste land – do you like big cities? if you could choose any place on earth, where would you settle down?

i love big cities, they evoke so many feelings of love and the atmosphere being surrounded by people makes me so happy! if i could live anywhere, i think it would be san francisco, i love the city and the weather and the public transportation!!

o captain! my captain! – what are your aspirations in life? what motivates you?

in life, i want to give a tedtalk. i would also love to publish a book but i dont like what i write so if i ever did, id end up hating the book anyway in a year or so. i want to teach people the joy of public speaking and i want to give kids the joys i had given to me by my teacher when i was their age. my motivation comes from, this has to be done and if no one else will do it, it might as well be me. i have the passion and everything else will follow after that.

she walks in beauty – what's your aesthetic? how would you describe the relationship between inner goodness & outer beauty?

id describe my aesthetic as lovecore, i love the color pink and red and hearts and flowers and teddy bears and dresses and sparkles and valentines day and i love everything stereotypically ‘cute’. and i feel there is no outer beauty without inner goodness, if someone has bad intentions or a rotten core, their outward appearance will reflect.

one art – how do you deal with loss? do you write diary entries, poetry or prose?

thankfully i have not had to go through tremendous loss in my life but when i feel an emotional loss or general low point, i tend to move towards art, aimless doodling to take my mind off of situations. it centers me.

work, sometimes – how does your favorite weather make you feel? what is happiness to you?

my favorite weather makes me feel SO happy, all smiley and giddy and like things are going to be okay, just for one day, i will make this a good one. happiness to me is comfort and joy, its something that makes you laugh until your sides hurt and its art that you look at and feel. happiness isnt a huge moment, its little moments scattered throughout the days.

acquainted with the night – do you think there's such thing as the right time? what’s your outlook on the world?

no, i dont like to set things off for the thought of there being a right and wrong time. time isnt real and we only have so long on earth so there is no time but the present. go get that tattoo, ask them out, eat that snack. my outlook on the world is that there is a lot of bad shit but there is also a lot of good shit you will never see but it important nonetheless. you cant change the world in a day so you might as well take it one day at a time, working everyday to make it as good as possible.

if – do you daydream a lot? are you volatile, or do you stay calm when conflicts arise?

i love to day dream, it helps me determine what i really want and its a lovely distraction when the goings get tough. i try to avoid conflicts in every situation possible but if i were pushed, id either accept my mistake and apologize and work towards a better future; or i would tell the other person how im feeling and what i can do to help them feel better.

what would i give? – do you cry often? if you could change anything about your past, what would it be?

things make me sad but rarely enough to cry, things more so tend to weigh me down then break me. i let the sadness take me however it sees fit. and if thats to cry, so be it. if i could change anything about my past, i would just say that you will only get this chance to start over in a new state once, the years will go by quick so to TAKE OPPORTUNITIES WHEN THEY SHOW THEM SELF TO YOU!!!!!!

they can sleep anywhere and tend to either splay out with limbs everywhere or curl up tight around a pillow

hang out at home, read some books, eat their childhood favorites, and hang out with their parents, maybe fuck around out in nature for a bit

this chicken and vegetable soup that their dad would make for them when they were sick, it’s heavy and comforting and magically makes them feel a little bit better

their parents, but in different ways– their mom does more of the physical ‘taking care of them’ stuff when comforting, and their dad gets more into the emotional comfort stuff

D: Decoration1. how would they decorate a house if they had one under their name?

they do have a house! although it’s also first and foremost a lab, but that’s pretty on brand for them anyway. it’s a lot of tools and practical stuff, and a lot of the furniture is based off of personal comfort or use rather than style. for decoration though there’s some blueprints and pictures pasted to the walls. the colors in general are warmer ones, and the place overall gives the impression of not being necessarily Nice but comfortable and lived in. it’s very much Lael’s Space

they. would not have children.

3. how do they decorate their own room?

same with the house– very comfortable and useful, pictures and diagrams pasted on the walls, and lots of space for books and knick-knacks along with work room

they have sort of a Style but it’s also pretty chill and comfortable, made to be moving around in their workroom or working outdoors. lots of basic light-weight short sleeve shirts or button-ups, pants w lots of pocket space, overalls, tool belts, etc. if they dress fancier it’s pretty basic and streamlined, look-wise, nothing very flashy or fancy unless it’s the holidays and someone makes them.

5. do they like makeup/nail/beauty trends?

not at all, that’s a lot of extraneous effort they’re not willing to put in, esp since they dont necessarily see a lot of other people regularly

pretty much, yeah. lael doesn’t see the point in trying to put on a nice face for anyone else. they’re a little softer than they appear on the outside tho.

they dont care much about the norm, but they’ll go along with some stuff for the sake if it being easier (although it’s not common for them). they always tend to grate against norms a little bit in general tho

do their own thing. they’ve always been something of an outsider, even in their own community, so they don’t see the value in trying to follow what others are doing.

the internet doesnt exist but. no. they dont really follow fads or trends outside of their own fields, where they keep up with trends but ultimately follow their own ideas.

in some ways, yes-- they tend to broadcast their own aggressiveness and weirdness so that people know what they’re about and stay away if they’re not interested. other stuff they let people find out on their own, esp emotional soft spots and their occasional gentleness, etc

F: Fun1. what do they do for fun?

science! studying bugs and stuff. and they like gardening a lot, and doing science on the plants. when they were younger they went out more and also participated in some robot-fighting circles in their spare time.

they’d think back to the days when they lived in gelt and there were some wild parties with fellow magitechnicians their age– nowadays they’d like something a bit more chill, but a good party for them would entail hanging out and drinking with other people/friends in their field

not really, no– they dont have to break the law, but they’re always going to rub up against restrictions. everything is more fun when you have room to explore and make a little bit of trouble

not really, most of their food-dislikes are pretty mild.

once tried to impress a crush by giving them a bug. it did not go well.also that one time that they got a drunken tattoo (altho i dont think they regret it-- they just don’t show it off)

lael never really thought of themself as the type to be a teacher, so the fact that they want to and are going to try to teach some stuff to arabella is unexpected for them, even if they themself suggested the idea

i think they alternate depending on the situation? they tend to be pessimistic when it comes to people and their motives, but optimistic in regards to progress/science/their own work

they aren’t very openly optimistic, it only really shines through when they start talking about the future of magitech or some shit

3. are they good at giving advice?

not at all! unless it’s help with a project, then maybe. dont go them to them for personal advice though-- most of the good advice they have is just verbatim from other people

their parents, esp their dad, are much more optimistic about things

they’ve always been pretty optimistic about certain things, like magitech. but they learned pretty young to not be optimistic about others, and they became even more pessimistic in that area as time has gone on

their intense love of knowledge and passion for their work

they’re kind of an asshole and care very little about what others think of them, for better or worse.

only when it benefits them or it aligns with their own beliefs.

they would… not be a parent. but if they were, a fairly distant and laid back one.

almost definitely, but mostly stuff like “taking worms inside the house” or “getting in fights w others” (rarely) or generally being a weird chaotic shit as a kid. they break less rules now but mostly bc they care about keeping their job

hm. i don’t think so. they’re not the type to have many regrets.

they have Thoughts about some Taliare rules that limit magitechnicians and impede progress. they also have issues w bureaucracy in general

they are generally pretty good at reading others and judging their intentions, but they’ve def focused more attention on book-smarts

honestly? probably not, but more out of not wanting to interact with strangers than any sort of malice

realistically absolutely yes, once as a kid and one or two times when they were going through their first round of magitech school.

they probably got pickpocketed once or twice in gelt

5. are they cautious when out?

only a bit, but they’re very capable of protecting themself if it comes down to it (they’ve got a knife! and magic!)

T: Truth1. are they honest?

on principle, and sometimes to a fault

usually yeah, they can get a good read on others

they rarely lie they, so they don’t have a ton of practice at it, and i think someone who knows them well or is pretty intuitive they’d be able to pick up on it

4. have they lied about anything they regret lying about?

i don’t think they lie enough for this to be the case? it’s mostly white lies if anything

5. have they told truths that have been spread against their will?

nope, not really.

U: Underdog1. have they been bullied?

when they were younger, yes. partially bc of being a half elf in an almost entirely human town (which made them a very easy target) and partially bc they were just a weird fucking kid

2. have they bullied anyone?

they’ve been MEAN to people but not actively bullied anyone. they did break a kid’s nose once but he deserved it.

3. have they been physically attacked by a bully?

i dont think so, i think it was more teasing and ostracism. any physical attacks were pretty mild or on their possessions. i think once someone tried to get physical but they were scared off by the only other non-human in town (besides lael’s dad), an older half-orc boy named Cyrus, and they never tried to attack lael again.

4. have they ever been doubted?

i mean, yes almost definitely, altho i cant give u an example

5. have they surprised people with being good at something?

i feel like when they were young and first showed talent w magitech they surprised some ppl. also, when they lived in gelt i think the fact they knew so much about nature and medicine was unexpected to ppl who just met them, but for anyone who knew them well it wouldnt be surprising at all

not really, unless they’re sick

not really, they dont eat particularly out-there food and their stomach isnt overly sensitive

21! i made them this year

2. what inspired you to create them?

i figured if i was gonna play a character in a magitech universe i wanted them to be related to that in some way. basically they were created with the idea of “i want to play a character with a robot arm” and literally their entire backstory and personality is descended from that fact.

the other thing is that i was learning about biomimicry-technology in german class and i thought it’d be cool to have an engineer character that very much loved and was influenced by nature

3. were they different when they were first created?

oh i first thought that their personality would be more stoic and distant, but in reality the most core thing about their personality is how fucking passionate they are about things

4. do you enjoy writing them more than other characters?

again, i dont really love playing one character more than others, i just love them for different reasons! but lael is particularly fun to play because it’s fun to not worry much about coming off as “nice” to others, and also I Love Magic. it’s also fun to play someone so passionate about their studies and work bc i can channel myself into that!

5. what’s your favorite thing about them?

man honestly it’s that aforementioned passion that they have for what they do, and their endless curiosity about how things work and how to make them better
