Any time someone tells me their name I reply with the most unhinged nonsense.
Yesterday I met someone named John and I replied, “Oh, like the Baptist?”

for: @taliwrites who: the crew what: operation save aleks & augie
"Did you change the oil?"
A question targeted toward the sudden lack of mobility that their SUV seems to be experiencing, but it's in the way that it's launched out from the window in such a monotone that Caleb knows it isn't serious. Of course oil isn't an issue, nor is it the coolant or the transmission fluid. Everything had been checked in regards to the alternator and fuel pumps.
Caleb ducks his head under the car in time to hear Finn call out next, "What about the window washer fluid?" as though it would be the all important liquid needed to get this one up and running.
Upon finding no fluids dripping from the engine, Caleb returns to the driver's side. "There aren't any leaks, and I know the vacuum hose is in tact. I looked at it all prior to leaving."
"Apparently not well enough-" Finn starts, but Caleb gives him a look that has him shutting up. Why is Tali even fond of this one? He's incessantly annoying, like a mosquito in your bedroom waiting to be swat at. Normally Finn can waste entire days debating the most obscure, unimportant things. To pass the time. Caleb is thankful that instead of arguing he opts to hop out of the passenger seat, and he looks to the three in the back.
"Tali, move up front." Finn's navigation can be traded for some peace. Tali can sit next to him, she will direct him just fine. “Think I might just leave him behind...”
Finn has decided to walk back to Leon's vehicle to his side. A better more amicable company than that of Caleb, that’s for sure. "The audience is pretty stone-faced over there, someone needs to help him blow off some steam at some point." It is said in passing, without the heaviness of the obvious innuendo. "You think he blows his load with the permanent scowl on his face?"
"What's... uh, what'd he say is wrong? Did you guys just stall out?" Finn's entertained smirk fades in the slightest and he looks to Fletcher for the shortest moment before back to Leon with a shrug. This causes for Fletch to sink in his seat, careful not to disturb Aiden's who's been asleep for the last hour of the drive.
Fletcher looks up to the front seat where Max is with a shrug and a frown, and that's just when Finn steps back to let Caleb peak in through Leon's window. "Fuel gauge is broken, it's reading half full. So... I have an empty tank. You think you can head on up ahead with them-" He nods to Max and Fletcher and Ren and Aiden, then points out down the street. "- I have these two here with me to watch the car. Siphon some gas from another vehicle and come back?"

anyways so also i'm still thinking about that mary sue jackass on twitter whining about rey still bc the complaint is always 'rey beats kylo ren easily out of nowhere' and that is just fundamentally not what happens in that movie
-- one of the first things we see rey do is absolutely demolish a bunch of guys on jakku, so we know she can fight
-- one of the first things she does in the saber fight with kylo ren is echo her staff fighting motions and try to lunge at him, but she doesn't have the same range w the saber
-- so she holds her own defensively but is literally on the run and ends up pinned between ren and a sudden cliff edge as a crevasse opens up
-- she doesn't actually turn the battle against ren until she
wait for it
USES THE FORCE
(which is exactly what LUKE did!)
also that whole fight kylo ren is literally dying after being gut-shot, bc chewie blasted him with his fkn bowcaster, which is ALSO set-up earlier as being strong enough to send dudes FLYING after a hit
so kylo ren took a GRENADE to the stomach and STILL nearly won that fight!
just absolutely no reading comprehension at all, it's almost like they haven't seen the film more than once and remember it wrong, or are deliberately or unconsciously lying about to serve a reactionary agenda, and it doesn't matter how rey won but rather THAT she won, at all
the only actual mary sue in that movie is kylo ren
the only other mary sue in that movie is poe dameron

accidentally triggered an initiating-romance scene with wyll when i was already romancing SH and im being so serious when i say turning him down was the hardest decision i've had to make in this game. i also found out a bunch of straight dudes on reddit have the same struggle of "man he's my bro i can't break his heart like that but i'm already with someone else" and it's sad but funny

Ok ok ok considering I have an actual (though very basic) outline written for Haven's new concept, I need to give very major updates and eventually update my pinned post.
The details:
Haven is now going to be a second person perspective piece of interactive fiction!
Haven's new plot: You, as Heather, find a way to go back in time after the suicide of your older brother, Beau — both to relive your brighter childhood years, and to try to prevent the circumstances leading up to his death. Meanwhile, Beau's starting to get a nausea-inducing sense of deja vu... Focuses on suicide prevention, balancing taking care of yourself versus others, and the lie that is nostalgia: no matter what you think, you don't actually want to be a kid again. Additionally, it will have a mechanic to mimic what it's like living with an anxiety disorder, and 4 different endings, one meant as the "canon" ending. Lord help me.
Ever since I first became a writer, I've generally assumed that even once completed, I'd just keep all of my stories private, outside posting some info and excerpts online. With Haven, it's different! Since it's a game, after all, I do fully plan on making it public, that way others can play and enjoy! I might be in the beginning phase right now, but I'm still SO pumped about all of this. It now has me considering my other projects becoming public when they're complete, too. We'll see :)
In Haven's previous concept, I was working with some extra characters: Skip, Milo, and Josie. The issue with them is that they kind of had their own story going on that didn't relate much to Haven's plot, so they do still exist, they're just being given their own WIP. I haven't developed much about it yet since it's low priority, but Skip's the main character, Milo's his love interest, it's largely about their baggage and growing dynamic as delinquent kids in the early 2000s, and the story's currently called The Day You Left or TDYL for short.
New(ish?) characters and WIP! (Celio and his backstory are old and repurposed; Finn is new.) Once again, not too developed yet, but here's the general concept I'm working with: Loosely Victorian esque theocracy fantasy world. Filler title is The Tower. Celio is a priest hiding a lot of baggage, Finn is a poor religious scholar looking to learn. They become romantically involved in secret, eventually developing an unhealthily codependent relationship while simultaneously only really manipulating each other for their own ends. Lots of murder happens, very doomed by the narrative — Celio's run from the guillotine stopping as Finn lovingly coaxes him back to it. My sort of controversial opinion on media is that I don't care for fantasy most of the time, and honestly? I'm not too great at writing it either LOL, so this will definitely end up an experiment to see if I can successfully stretch the required creative muscles, or if it'll just be another plot tossed to the side. At the very least, I really love Celio as a character and his so painfully clear, inevitable fall from grace. He's probably the most complex character I've ever written, and he only really suits a fantasy plot, so it's worth trying to do him justice!
And, finally, Delora and Stasia are still doing about the same, living their best lives. If you don't count the misery I put them through, of course.
