20 Questions for Fic Writers
Will I ever get enough of these? No? Thanks to @liminalmemories21, @strandnreyes, @welcometololaland, and @reyesstrand for the tags!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
45. RIP to the lost works of my OG fandom, published on a ship board/archive that no longer exists. (I still have most of them, they just won’t be seeing the light of day. Like ever.)
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
368,184. (Again, RIP to all those now-unpublished words — with them I’d be somewhere around 800k.)
3. What fandoms do you write for?
LOL So glad this question is phrased the way it is. Right now, I’m only actively writing in 911 Lone Star fandom, though I have a WIP in Magicians fandom that I fully intend to finish. Historically, I’ve written in about 40 fandoms (36 on AO3), most with a single fic. Thanks, Yuletide!
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Ashes and Flame (Every You and Every Me), The Hunger Games Trilogy (I get a kudos email for this one at least five times a week. How are people still finding and reading this little fic?)
Lost in Translation, The Losers
Deck the Halls with Daddy Issues, pre-film Avengers MCU
Big Girl Pants, New Girl
Shells of a Long-Ago Lifetime (Faces That Once Were Mine Mix), Supernatural
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
99.9% of the time, absolutely. Comments are my biggest motivation — the serotonin section fuels my muse. If people take the time to tell me they read and enjoyed a fic (especially if they tell me why), I like to at least thank them for that. There have been times when Real Life has been Happening A Lot and comments on the more popular stuff have gotten by me, and I feel weird about going back months after the fact to respond — that Hunger Games fic, for instance, has a couple pages of unanswered comments.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Posted, probably Of All Our Yesterdays. I am typically an Angst with a Happy Ending writer without fail, but the boys of the Black Dagger Brotherhood don’t do typical happy, and Phury is lowkey the angstiest of the bunch.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I’m actually gonna say scenes from an unfinished story, because I think Quentin Coldwater having this happy ending, the way this one happens, is the biggest fuck you to show canon and its creators that I could possibly craft.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I recently got my first hate comment! I posted about it, but I’ve also left it up in all its glory.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I do now! Not that I haven’t in the past — I wrote several het scenes for my very first ship, and Quentin and Eliot had some delightful married kitchen sex we picked up right in the middle in What Baking Can Do — but I feel like Tarlos has really helped me unleash my inner smut writer. My smut from Carlos’ POV has a lot of feelings (LOL), but the stuff I’m writing from TK’s POV is a little sillier and dirtier and more fun. With feelings.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I do love me a good crossover. Outside of canons I’ve crossed that exist in the same universe (We Are the Ones We Have Been Waiting For, in Jessica Jones/Luke Cage fandom, plus And to All a Goodnight, for two Jennifer Crusie books), I once wrote tens of thousands of words of a ridiculously plot-heavy Roswell/Angel crossover that will forever hold a soft spot in my heart, a randomly cracky and super angsty Supernatural/Grey’s Anatomy, and a minor character-focused Supernatural/Sarah Connor Chronicles, Requiem, that I still sort of love a lot.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
That Hunger Games fic has been swiped a few times. Weird.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Again, the Hunger Games fic — it exists somewhere on the internet in Dutch. And that one, the SPN/TSCC crossover, and an old Dexter fic, Dinner and a Show, have been podficed.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I have! An old friend and I once cowrote ~25k of our idea of fluff, which was basically hijinks, smut, and torturing our leading man with a boom box and Billy Joel.
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
For ships that I’ve written… Hmm. I think, before I wrote to build a home, I would’ve said it was a tossup between Tarlos, Queliot, Chlollie, and Jules/Robin from Troubleshooters, but now there’s just no contest. Weewoo Husbands for the win. For ships in general, Tarlos still tops the list, alongside the ones I mentioned, the OT3 (Eliot/Hardison/Parker), Arthur/Eames, Phedre/Joscelin from the Kushiel’s Legacy books, Frank/Karen from the Netflix Marvelverse, Aidan/Sally from Being Human US, and my MCU crack cube of Steve/Nat/Bucky/Sam.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
God, this is such a throwback, but it’s probably Adagio in B-Flat, the Sherlock music porn murder mystery I half wrote and got hopelessly blocked on.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue, I’d say, especially banter. And understanding characters, I guess? I’m good at making characters sound like themselves, whether they’re speaking or internalizing. And, I’m now proud to say, plot. That’s something I wouldn’t have dared to claim this time ten years ago.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Oof. Brevity. I have completely lost the ability to write short (and, by extension, to the point). I’m also the slowest writer in the world, thanks to my tendency to edit every sentence within an inch of its life.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
My Lone Star mutuals are laughing right now. Clearly I hate it. 😊 I’ve written three fics that feature Spanish, two sort of significantly, and all my old Firefly fics have some Mandarin in there somewhere.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
OG Roswell. So much OG Roswell. Michael/Liz, specifically, with a side of Kyle/Isabel.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
It almost feels like cheating, since it’s my most recent fic (and the only one I’ve published so far in my current fandom), but I’m so stupidly proud of to build a home. Carlos is such a touchstone character for me that writing him was oddly therapeutic. And I think I’ve said this before, but writing the two of them together was like the evolution of the clarity I found writing Queliot, which was the first time I’d really explored a ship in fic where I loved both halves of the pairing even close to equally — it helped me unearth my Carlos and who he is in my heart, but it also helped me uncover the true depth of my love for TK.
No pressure tagging @orchidscript, @heartstringsduet, @never-blooms, @rmd-writes, @walkinginland, @paperstorm, @mixtapestar, @catanisspicy, and @alrightbuckaroo!

ff.net is considered "old"? Especially for my standards it doesn't, like, I made an account in like 2015... but I also stopped updating there about four years later so XD
If the comment box isn't mean from screaming and keysmashing what is it meant for. How else am I supposed to convey my feelings when a fic rips my heart out and stomps on it for good measure?
I've written self-indulgent fic alright. Most of them are on my whump account, cause I go all out there, lol.
Most of my fic is unbeta'd, lol. Even my latest multichapter wasn't a "typical" beta-read, cause I didn't give my beta the full chapters, only asked them about specific phrases I wasn't certain about.
About the researching thing... I kinda like it? But it's half-and-half, like it's VERY tempting for me to just wing it and half the time I just wing it, lol. But other times I research quite a bit before writing something.
As for "multifandom writer"... it's again kind of. I have written for four different fandoms up to now, but rarely at the same time. I usually move headspaces for the different fandoms, and it confuses me if I jump from one to the other too quickly XD
"At least one unpublished or unfinished story" if only it was only one T_T
Getting fanart for my fic has been among the best things to happen to me. I remember how fucking giddy I was, waiting to get on a long bus trip, and getting a notification about a mention, and it was someone surprising me with fanart for my fanfic. Best feeling ever.
I not only get ideas in the middle of the night anymore - I record them. When I'm too sleepy to have my phone in my face and type, I open my voice recorder app and record my idea with voice. There's been some fun incidents with this (like me saying "character sees this and goes like whoa what the fuck" when this specific character would never say "whoa what the fuck") but it's been a very interesting exercise. It's how half my ideas for Macabre Theme and Variations stuck to memory so I could use them in the fic.
I both do and don't want to be a professional writer. Idk. I have an original idea for a show, but it would never ever be picked up, especially in my country. It would be so fun to see it acted out, but I'll have to be satisfied with it staying in my memory.
uhhh tagging some pals cause I'm curious to learn more about you but no pressure! @lentachorum @maimaktes @prettyblubox @samatedeansbroccoli @delicatebluebirdruins @smoresbythefyresyde and whoever if you see this and want to do it consider yourself tagged
blank template, sorry I forgot to post it lol!

20 Author Questions
Tagged by @blackbird-brewster, thank you, this was so fun!!!
How many works do you have on AO3?
Only five so far!
2. What's your total AO3 wordcount!
83,545 apparently, which is much more than I expected.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Currently and on AO3, only Criminal Minds, but in my time on ff dot net I also wrote for House MD, Grey's Anatomy, Once Upon A Time, Oz the Great and Powerful, and Annie (in hindsight, what a random assortment??)
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Twin Flames (377 kudos)
Sin to Win (234 kudos)
midnight (184 kudos)
lean for me (170 kudos)
All This and Heaven Too (73)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why/why not?
I always respond to comments! Usually whenever I update with a new chapter. Comments make me so so happy (seriously I cannot even begin to describe it) so I really want to show my appreciation to readers, even though I'm usually quite bad at thinking of ways to reply.
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Hm most of my fics are unfinished, but if all goes to plan, midnight or All This and Heaven Too will probably have the most bittersweet endings.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Twin Flames! Maybe lean for me too if I ever finish that.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not on AO3 so far. I used to get some hate on ff dot net, but I think commenting culture in general is a bit harsher over there so.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Only unpublished for myself so far haha. But (perhaps controversial) if I ever post any it's going to be f/f omegaverse because it's underrated and there's a tragic lack of it everywhere.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've ever written?
Definitely! I'm obsessed with fusion crossovers and there's lots of half-finished ones in my docs and notes app. My only published one so far (and I suppose the craziest) is my Criminal Minds x Twilight crossover midnight though.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge! I hope not
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
I've had someone ask to translate Sin to Win into Chinese, which was really cool!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I co-wrote like three chapters of a OUAT fic with my ex-best friend years ago, but I think we got bored and abandoned it, so no clue if it's out there somewhere still.
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
Easily JJ/Emily, literally do not get me started on how tragic they are, idk what it is but I've never been so obsessed with a ship before.
15. What's a fic you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Sorry to anyone who likes it because it was my most popular fic until very recently, but probably Sin to Win. I really hate what I did with the plot from Chapter 2 onwards and I'm confused about what past-me thought a cognitive interview was, because that's almost definitely not how they work. The plot's just a mess that I'm not sure how to unravel lol. I am still totally in love with the premise though, so maybe in the future I'll start over and delete the last few chapters.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I would definitely say writing descriptions (easily one of my favourite parts of writing in general), I love getting to capture a vibe.
Also conciseness (thanks to every English teacher I've ever had, and all the hundred word short stories I was forced to enter as a teen lol) although it can definitely be a double-edged sword when trying to reach higher wordcounts.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
OMG definitely dialogue. Idk if people reading my fics can tell but I avoid it as much as possible, and that's because between my autism and social anxiety, I just genuinely do not know/understand what people are supposed to say in a conversation + how (although I definitely think I've at least improved in structuring dialogue realistically), especially in character.
Also, just like, plots, lol.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
Personally, I tend to prefer for the writer to just be like, "she said in French." I'm bilingual, English is my second language, and I feel like often when people write poly-lingual characters in particular they're kind of clumsy about the character using another language. I've definitely seen people do it very well though!
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Oh boy, I'm actually not sure if I remember, I must have been like twelve or thirteen at the time. I'm going to tentatively guess Grey's Anatomy.
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
It's between Twin Flames (my baby, the first fic I've ever finished) and All This and Heaven Too (I loved writing young JJ and Emily so much).

Fic Writer 20 Questions
I was tagged by @texasdreamer01 😊
1.) How many works do you have on ao3
9, though some of them are only visible if you're logged in.
2.) What's your ao3 word count?
64,757, not a lot but there's nothing wrong with that.
3.) What fandoms do you write for?
Star wars, lots of Star Wars. I think I wrote for Yuri!!! On Ice before? I used to write for Marvel, I did a little bit of Phantom of the Opera (very little), I have some unpublished Avatar the Last Airbender fics, and I am currently writing for Our Flag Means Death 🤭 I hope around depending on what I feel/am hyperfixating on, but ultimately it always comes back to Star Wars.
4.) What are your top five pics by kudos?
Fighting For Your Power - one of my first published Star Wars fics. Definitely not my favorite and also unfinished, a common occurrence with my ever changing brain.
If I Could Hold You For a Minute (Darling, I'd do it Again.) - Codywan. A little hurt comfort thing that takes place after the Rako Hardeen incident
Orbital Decay - another Codywan fic, probably my longest posted fic at this point in time.
And cowboy is his name - a short little bobadin cowboy au that I'm thinking of adding more onto, whether it's little snippets or an actual story is to be seen.
To Be A Good Soldier - a Commander Cody fic, kinda my own little headcanon as to how he got his scar.
5.) Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I do, it just takes me a while to get there. I'm always a little slow on the up taking. I reply to comments because someone took a brief moment of their time after reading my story to let me know their thoughts, and it means the world to me, so the least I can do is respond to their comments.
6.) What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
A fic that no longer is on AO3 🙈 I took it down after a couple years of like....no one reading it, and decided to keep it to myself, like a dragon. The story is hurt comfort without any of the comfort lol. Poor poor Garashir, doomed by the narrative and also me.
7.) What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Oooooh let me think. Recently they all have happy endings because I myself need one. Uhhhhhh. Probably Orbital Decay. My babies get together very tentatively at the end.
8.) Do you get hate on fics?
Ehhh my fics don't get seen by a wide enough audience I think. The only 'hate' I've ever gotten was someone demanding me tag something, but it wasn't even very hateful so. No I guess not.
9.) Do you write smut? If so what kind?
Once upon a long time ago, but I haven't in ages and frankly it makes me uncomfortable to write, always has.
10.) Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
I don't, it's not something that holds my interest.
11.) Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I'm aware of...😳
12.) Have you ever had a fic translated?
No sir-y
13.) Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
Yes and no? It's a collaborative fic, but I'm not the one writing it, I just had the base idea and give more ideas for the concept and squeal and cry over it.
14.) What's your all time favorite ship?
It changes with the tides, but how can I pick one set of my beloveds over another?
15.) What's a WIP you'd like to finish, but doubt you ever will?
All of them. Lol uhh I really really wanna get the Codywan AU fic written, but I'm at a point where I currently don't have it in me, I don't have much writing in me at all right now.
16.) What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue. I love dialogue. I've also been told, and I have to trust what people tell me, that I'm very descriptive and also know how to write a fight scene.
17.) What are your writing weaknesses?
Lack of confidence in my skills. Inability to finish what I've started. Making sure I'm keeping people in character, and also I tend to lack in the plot department.
18.) Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
Well, I think so long as you...ugh this one is tricky cause I don't know how to phrase it. I like to write in other languages in very very small doses. A little smattering here and there. But also, I feel like it's important to know the language you're writing in or consult someone who does for accuracy? Idk how to explain it.
19.) First fandom you wrote for?
Marvel. Marvel. And more Marvel. I had a very long story (with no actual plot) posted to a different site, and then took to writing people's requests for Marvel ship fics for a time.
20.) Favorite fic you've ever written?
Uhhh idk To Be a Good Soldier? I'm not entirely sure. Maybe it will be the little OFMD fic idea I had, but who knows.
Softly nudging @poibynt @missypup @frostbitebakery and anyone else who might like to do this

Fragment Friday
Let's just pretend I purposefully waited until Friday to post this instead of forgetting about it in my drafts. Thanks @celeritas2997 for the tag!
Rules: Pick five fragments from your unfinished WIPs and then tag five people to keep it going. Let’s have fun with it and help each other shape those fragments into published fics!
Although I consider a lot of the fics I have plotted out and lingering in my head to be "WIPs", I try not to be actively writing too many WIPs at any given moment. Of the ones I do have, one is a SECRET, and for another, everything I've written is published. So you get two from the RWRB spy AU, and then a few from random abandoned or semi-abandoned unpublished stories.
ONE (RWRB)
Alex just groans and considers covering Henry’s mouth again; those full, pink lips are far too close for comfort anyway. His face is flushed red and his ridiculous blue eyes are somehow shining in the dim light of the alcove, and abruptly Alex becomes very aware of every point of contact between their bodies. There’s not really any reason to stay hidden. They’re probably safe at this point. He should definitely move, but he can’t seem to make himself let go.
“Now if you’re quite done manhandling me,” Henry huffs, finally managing to get enough leverage to shove him out of the crammed space.
TWO (RWRB)
“What exactly were your intentions here, anyway?”
Alex hisses at the burning pain that sears through him when Henry starts cleaning the wound, but he refuses to shy away. “Dunno,” he mutters through clenched teeth. “Few stitches. A gallon of whiskey. Sleep it off.”
“You don’t sleep off a laceration, Alex,” Henry says with a soft snort.
“Maybe you don’t.”
THREE (TMFU)
Illya rolls his eyes, which, at this point, he knows Abaddon finds more amusing than anything else. He can’t believe that anyone actually falls for this devil bullshit, though Abaddon’s reactions seem to imply that at least some do. Maybe if you’re predisposed. Maybe if you actually believe that the devil exists in the first place.
((Did I put these two down here because they'll almost certainly never see the light of day? Maybe, lol.))
FOUR (TMFU/White Collar)
“I did not sign up to deal with two of you,” Burke is arguing, now pointing a finger between Napoleon and the other man, who gets up out of his chair and walks over to where the UNCLE agents stand just inside the doorway. “Napoleon Solo was not part of the deal.”
“Don’t mind him,” the man says to them. “He gets a little excitable sometimes.”
FIVE (TMFU/Mandalorian)
On the flight back she’d been trying to convince them to come with her to Coney Island for a day on the beach despite the fact that the weather isn’t quite warm enough for sunbathing; well, those plans are shot, anyway. She must have come directly from the workshop, because her brown hair is tied back and she’s wearing her coveralls. Her fingers leave grease smudges on the outside of the slim folder in her lap.

@go-go-devil tagged me for this fic writer bingo the other day and i just got around to filling it out lol. thank you velvet! :)
Tumblr media
today i think i will tag... @pastryglitch... @boyfrillish... but as always, participation is entirely voluntary, whether tagged or not ^-^
longer remarks that wouldn't fit on the image + blank template under readmore:
"wrote/writes smut content" - it's less that i'm embarrassed to post it and more that, um, oddly enough i rarely seem to ever finish any smut fics. (and anyway, by my self-imposed blog rules i can't post about it here if/when i do finish one.)
"commissioned or received fic-related fanart" - most recently was two years ago, when i'd commissioned my dear friend goat to draw the ending scene for a kingsm*n fic which i never ended up even close to finishing. ha. but it's ok, the art's still gorgeous
"has that one fic that deserves more attention" - the great wain... the day to end all days... uhhhh everything i wrote for kingsm*n LOL. well... actually the kingsm*n fics are kind of showing their age, so maybe not.
"fanfiction is an actual literary genre" - ok i know this is supposed to be the free space, but lemme talk about this for a bit... while i certainly agree than fanfiction is literature, i, um... is it a genre? i dunno, it kinda feels like calling video game music a "genre". am i just being too literal...?
"has at least one unpublished or unfinished story" - lol. lmao.
and the template as promised:

Idk why I'm writing it to you, maybe it's the need for consolation lol. I keep falling in love with wip fics that end up abandoned, and it just makes me so sad, especially because it's often fics with unique (or at least rare) premises, so it's difficult to find smth similar to read. My 2 recentish examples are Not another romcom (you even mentioned it a while ago here, iirc) and another fic where Stucky met up in dreams and both assumed their lover didn't exist in real life...and the most devastating part is that this text stopped updating just before the chapter when they were supposed to finally meet for real😭 I know writers have their own reasons, life is hard, and I'm grateful for the chapters they managed to publish, but every once in a while i look up their accs in hope, and alas. Does smth similar happen to you sometimes? As both the reader and the writer, you probably have a deeper perspective.
Hi my lovely! I'm so sorry for not replying to this sooner, I've had a crazy few days and I haven't had time to sit down and think about messages that required a bit more thought than just a key smash! I didn't mean to ignore you, I promise. Because I've been where you've been and it suuuucks... It really does. And I don't mean the authors suck for not finishing works, I just mean that getting invested in a story and then never knowing how it ends is a tough pill to swallow :(
From a reader's perspective, that's happened to me a few times too and there are still a few unfinished fics that I think about regularly. The ones that got away 💔 And that's basically one of the main reasons why I've decided not to read WIPs anymore, unless the author states beforehand that the fic is already finished and just being posted chapter by chapter. I just don't want to go through what you're describing again, it's just a little bit heartbreaking, you know?
And from a writer's perspective, I can say that the fear of abandoning a fic halfway and disappointing readers is a big part of why I never post WIPs. Up until now, I've only posted completed works, all of it in one go. I might try my hand at posting in chapters sometime in the near future, but I still think I'll finish it first before I post it. I just have too many unfinished unpublished WIPs sitting around on my hard drive, and I just can't promise life won't get in the way of finishing them, even if I've already started posting them, you know? For some people it's a good incentive to finish fics though, I totally get that too! And I also know that it's important to show authors love on WIPs to support them and encourage them to finish them, but I try to do my bit by reblogging and obsessively checking whether or not they're finished yet and then reading them immediately once they are, I guess 😅
I hope you'll have more luck with reading WIPs in the future, lovely! Sending you a big hug 💕

@fancy-a-dance-brigadier tagged me on that "share the titles of your current unpublished WIPs" meme thingy, and for once I actually have Several unfinished things, ooh. I assumed that when there's no title yet I should just use the filename it's saved as. (Also I excluded the one or two things that I might end up posting as Anonymous for shame reasons. So there.) Sorted By Fandom:
DS9
"dax31" - this is the one where Dax(es) has for many years been working for Section 31 and so Sloan makes Ezri/Julian happen for Shady Espionage Reasons (and/or his own lust, because I can't *not* shove some Sloanshir in there, u kno?). It feels like I've been stuck on this one forever but I don't think it can be more than a few weeks actually. It's basically just a long conversation and some angst. Also it claims that Sloan/Curzon happened at least once, which is a concept I find both alarming and plausible.
"julzia lol" - That was when I started writing Julian/Jadzia in my head for a laugh/spite and actually I thought of an outline that seemed like it'd work but I may not finish this ever as I am not that into it. And it's unrequited so they don't even kiss in it anyway so what is the point of that eh? It's also in some ways more of a Julian/Dax-worm thing and maybe if I focus it onto that I'll be more inclined to finish it. Hrm.
"garashir spy angst shite" - May not finish this one because I feel like I don't ship Garashir enough to get away with writing breakup fic about them. It's basically my text post about "Sloan broke up garashir" but with more words and a lovebite.
"lauren2" - Not a sequel to The Only Julian/Lauren On AO3 but a different one in which it's apparently okay to chemically/medically make someone less horny even if they're not really into that idea but it's their way out of not-prison so they'll go along with it anyway. So it's kind of fucked up, yeah. Featuring "Foot Stuff", some of which happens in Quark's because well it's not like anyone noticed so it's fine probably.
The Marvel Loki Show That I Am Normal About
"casinopointless" - I called it pointless because it turns into porn halfway through (probably) but I am doing my best to fit in some Actual Non-Sex Content about chaos and hedonism and selfcest. I was working on this one earlier today and I like some of the dialogue so hopefully I will actually finish it. And it's a slightly different Loki(s) characterisation than I'd usually go for but I don't think anyone would notice that really. I was considering Anon'ing it if I can't think of enough Stuff to put around the porn, but I suppose I can't now. Oops.
"he lets her" - This is just one of those stories in which people have sex and angst about it. But this one is Radically Different because most of the angst happens during the sex. See, I have range!!
"lokiidk" - TBH this one is really just a disorganised set of scenes and ideas that *might* all fit into one story but some of them might get discarded or end up in something else. And it commits that fanfic sin of a third character who is in the story purely to talk to/about that story's main ship but then Mobius *is* deployed largely as a therapist in the canon, albeit as one with ulterior motives whose treatments are sometimes actually torture under the terms of the Geneva Conventions. (Which don't apply outside of normal space-time so he's probably fine there legally.)
"mirrormirror" - This one is only about half a dozen lines BUT it does have a title! "Mirror, Mirror" and GUESS WHAT it's all about the wonders and implications of selfcest.
Crossover!! :D
"missysylvie omg" - Dr Who/Loki crossover in which (as the title suggests) Missy and Sylvie meet up and instantly fail the Bechdel by complaining about male versions of themselves. (Actually, how *does* one apply the test to characters Of Variable Gender?) I don't know if they will kiss in it, but there is A Vibe there because Missy has already joked about knifeplay on a first date and has made the (as yet unanswered) offer of "time and space and a bit of sexual tension." Alas I am not sure if I will manage to finish it because I keep thinking "oh no this isn't really A Story it's just an excuse for two of my faves to have a chat" but that's an issue I struggle with often because part of me is pretentious about fanfiction and while that part is annoying and should not be listened to it is nonetheless quite loud.
So anyway that's what's in the C:\Users\[Name]\Documents\fik folder at the moment. Plus a large number of opaquely-named files that frankly could be pretty much anything and most of them I believe to contain about three lines of something I immediately gave up on and forgot the context for. Because I can't just *delete files* my god no how could I how dare you I can't even.
I am gonna tag anyone who wants to do this meme because I want to know what everyone has lying around in the shadows of whatever device they write on. (And if that's a phone then I am a bit scared of you because HOW those keyboards are TINY and the screens are so sore??)

Fic Writer Review!
Thanks @mssirey for the tag! I totally didn't have a crisis with the very last question, not at all bwhahaha
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
41, soon to be 42. ASJKLDBLAHSDSD how. And also why. But mostly, how.
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
565,934 EXCUSE ME WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK. I was going to check my unpublished works but ya know what. Maybe I've written enough akdjsa
3. How many fandoms have you written for?
Technically speaking, I've written and published fics for five fandoms. However, I only have one story for OUAT (and I have @shadowdianne to thank for that... or do I?) and one for Captain Marvel. Mirandy was my first love, Cissamione the second, and Supercorp has burrowed in my brain and just won't let go.
I've also technically written for Xena, Legend of Korra, and Criminal Minds, but since I never published those, we're going to pretend they don't exist!
4. Top 5 fics by kudos?
Only two are WIPs! YEAH! They're the top two, but WHO CARES, here they are:
1) Perhaps, aka my baby, my child, my darling, the apple of my eye. If I ever had to choose to finish only ONE of my WIPs, this would be the one. This story has grown with me, and I think you can tell when you read. Or maybe not!
2) For the Better. If the former is my baby, this one is like... my moody teenager. I love it dearly, but... it takes a lot out of me. An ode to one of the first fandoms I actively wrote for, it sits unfinished, but nearly, oh so nearly done. I will finish it, damn ittt.
3) The Date. Honestly, this one really surprised me -- it's one of my oldest one-shots, and something I definitely dashed off between lectures back in Scotland, maybe alternating with FtB chapters. It's one of my first attempts at humour, I think.
4) Bits and Pieces. AYY, I wasn't sure Supercorp would make the cut, WOOOT! This one was the second Supercorp fic I ever wrote, and I did it because Lena Is Baby and the idea just wouldn't leave my brain.
And lastly, the fabulous number 5... Perfect. AKA Nara's First (published) Explicit Fic, featuring Praise Kink and an Enchanted Dildo (for... reasons). I'm not gonna lie, I am so HAPPY this one made it, because it has a special place in my heart. It's where Soft Butch Hermione comes to life, and if you don't love Soft Butch Hermione, I'm sorry, we can't be friends. I love her.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why/why not?
Eeermmm... some? I do want to respond, but I'm terrible with keeping up with comments, I really am. For whatever reason, even when I do my best, I don't really love responding directly on AO3. I also turned off all email notifications for AO3 because turns out my brain WILL be distracted by even a single one.
I'm much more responsive on Tumblr, I promise!
6. A fic you've written with the angstiest ending:
Any of my Narlily works, I guess? Like... All Flowers Wither or Carry On.
Unshackled would be another one, though it's Cissamione... but I caved and made a happy(ish) second part for that one.
7. Do you write crossovers?
Nope! Crossovers just don't do it for me, generally speaking (reading or writing).
8. Ever received hate on a fic?
EvEr rEcEIvEd hAtE-- yes. Oh, yes. I've been told my writing is terrible, I've been told my stories were a 'waste of time,' or 'overhyped,' I've had people tell me there was only One Way to write a certain pairing and my way was definitely Not The Way.
The list goes on.
It used to really, really bother me--still does, but in a much smaller way. Delete/Block buttons are my friends.
9. Do you write smut?
I write an absurd amount of smut. I just don't publish any of it because. Fear.
My pretty, pretty pens have created some filthy, filthy things.
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
A couple of times -- only once or twice like, straight up attributed to someone else who acted like they were the one writing it. The other times were reposts or translations (without my permission, so still. stolen).
11. Ever had a fic translated?
I've authorized a couple of translations of a few of my DWP works. I'm usually cool with people translating my stuff IF THEY ASK ME FIRST and GIVE ME PROPER CREDIT.
9/10 it's some Brazilian who translates it to Portuguese without my permission and then gets upset when I, another Brazilian, do not endorse it and politely ask them to take the thing down. Thankfully it's been a while. ASK ME, DAMN IT.
12. Have you ever co-written a fic?
Nothing published bwhaha!
13. All-time favourite ship?
Right now SuperCorp is definitely barking a little louder, so to speak, but I don't really have one favourite overall. It depends on the fandom, sometimes! Cissamione is very dear to my heart, because it's just so fucking out there and literally every one in this ship has some of the most fascinating headcanons for this pairing and it's just. So wonderful.
14. WIP you want to finish, but don't think you ever will?
Eeeeuuughhh.... Right now? Probably The Appraisal. I forget what I wanted to do with it, I'm not sure if I'm still feeling the premise... IDK.
I think the same could be said of For the Better, but I PROMISED to finish it, and GOD DAMN IT, I am so close I can't throw in the towel just yet.
15. Writing strengths?
You want ME to say good things about MYSELF? I'm still learning how to do that asldkjbasdn it's a work in progress. But I think I'd say... maybe world-building, at least on my longer works?
I would also like to think I do pretty OK in... IDK, some of the punchy stuff? The 'oh wait a minute' moment? IDK if that makes sense!
16. Writing weaknesses?
Organizing. Plot (HAHA IKR). Consistency. Editing (which is rich from someone who literally edits shit for a living... but go figure). Pacing. Weirdly long sentences? Commas for DAYS.
I could go on.
17. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?
I am a-OK attempting it in French/Spanish/Portuguese. It may not sound natural, but it will be correct. If I'm trying another language, I'll definitely get help! But I've got no problem with it.
18. First fandom you ever wrote for?
Harry Potter, Dramione specifically, and you'll never find a shred of it. I was like 12, and almost a decade later I figured out Hermione was much better off with Draco's mother.
19. What's your fav fic you've written so far?
DON'T MAKE ME CHOOOSE asdkljasdl I CAAANNN'TTTT
I mean, obviously Perhaps is one of them -- it is my baby, that has been established. I think Little Bumps in the Road is also up there, because it was just a random writing exercise that got out of hand, and honestly? I'm here for it. Andddd.... I GUESS I'll put A Valentine's Evening up there as well, because it was the first time I didn't second guess every word I wrote when posting smut. I just... felt it, went for it, wrote it, and it felt really, really good to release some of that into the world lol
WHEW, this was a long one! I'll be tagging @intheinkpot, @shadowdianne, @delirious-comfort, and @16-pennies because I am a curious bastard. But, as always, feel free to treat this as an open tag. Go nuts!

Note
Are you still writing? I don't see you post as much stuff anymore.
I’m still here, alive and kicking and writing lol… I hope you don’t mind but I’m going to use this ask to give an update on me and what I’ve been doing.
The truth is, I write almost every single day. I have dozens of drafts and another dozen of nearly complete fics for different fandoms. I have some one shots that I never got around to publishing. I also have outlines for stories that I might or might not get around to doing. I have full fics that I’ve written in a discord server with my writing pals that are waiting for me to copy and paste into a document so I can edit and upload.
I’m going to go into my thoughts on these things, where I’m at, and what I’m working on under the cut. Maybe if you’re reading this you can help me piece it all together?
First I want to acknowledge that at least half of what I write, I do with my friend and writing partner @solynacea. We have novels of unpublished stuff that we’ve done just for fun that has never gotten published, and maybe never will. A lot of what I’ve written has been done with them, and many times we’re onto the next idea before editing and uploading and I think we’ve forgotten about half the stories we’ve written, lost into Google chat backlogs until one of us remembers something we can search to find it.
So if I’m doing all this writing, where is it? The truth I guess is that I’m still writing, but for a while I just haven’t been into publishing. And this isn’t going to be a sob story about not getting enough attention or credit, because I stopped looking at kudos and comments a long, long time ago. I like publishing my work because I like to know it’s somewhere where I can find it easily again. (My Google drive is a hot mess.) I like knowing that there is someone who read it and saved it to come back to again. If each of my fics has just that one person, I’m cool with it.
For me, writing is fun and publishing is work. I need to edit, I need to find visuals, I need to think of a title and write a summary and actually remember to update with new chapters. I need to be ready for other people to read it. So I’ve adapted this habit of writing without expecting to publish, and it’s helped me flourish.
But it’s also made me pretty inept at getting anything to the point where it can go on AO3. There is an expectation when publishing that things should be a bit polished. I’ve never been one to just throw whatever up unless I knew it would be finished, because I get the sense that people hate unfinished work. Am I wrong?
If you are asking about NnT, anon, I think we can agree that it’s unfortunately a bit dead. I do have one story to finish, The Dark Fate. I also have some outlines done, a bunch of completed or nearly (like just need one more chapter written) fics, some that were started and left halfway through.
But in general I feel like I’ve told the bulk of the stories I had for NnT. I don’t have much more left. Which really kind of sucks because it was the perfect place for a content creator. There were enough characters that you could interpret in a lot of ways, plenty of lore left undiscovered to flesh out, just fantasy enough to not get caught up in real-world locations or rules, but also not so big you get lost. Yet NnT is over and I’m not feeling the sequel. There’s just no inspiration.
I’m writing for a BNHA zine which is fun, and Kacchako is still one of my fave ships of all time. I have a story I’ve started about them that I can’t seem to get any gas on. The space though feels too big. I enjoy more of what other people do than what I can make myself. I do still want to write this fic though.
As for DMC, it was a nice place to hang my hat for a while, but I’m feeling like I’ve run out of things for it too. I wrote the things I wanted to say about Dante, Vergil, and Nero. I have a couple more chapters to do on The Wish and started writing a steampunk AU, but once those are done I’ll probably close the book, at least for a while. Writing in this fandom wasn’t at all what I expected coming from NnT, and the culture shock sort of zapped the inspiration for me, even though I’ve had a great time and met some great people. I also ended up liking the reboot more than the main games and finding anyone else in the same boat is like a needle in a haystack.
So what’s next? I’m on the hunt for inspiration. I’ve been catching up on Resident Evil and started writing for it. I’ve been editing an original work (supposed to be anyway, haha) and writing more original work with solynacea. I’ve tried my hand at the Witcher and looked into getting into other fandoms but nothing is striking my inspiration. Tried writing threads for a bit but it’s not my style. There are tons of things that I love, but it’s a whole other ballgame to have your own stories to tell outside of the original, and that’s what I’m waiting on.
I hope if you’ve read this far you can see that it’s not a lack of motivation or interest, just inspiration. I'm an author in need of a new home, so to speak. I’m not in a writing rut, and there are thousands and thousands of words unpublished that I’ve written over the past year since my publishing slowed down. I hope that RE can give me that push, and if it doesn’t, I’ll look for something else. Any ideas, anon?
In the meantime, I wonder, do you guys want rough or partially-finished stories though? Let me know. I can publish if you guys know what you’re getting into by reading it lol. And I don’t mind comments when people ask if I’ll ever finish xyz fic or asks like these that are about what I’m up to, so hit me up any time.

Tagged by: @semper-draca Thanks!
How many works do you have on AO3?
26, lol. 18 SWtOR and 8 DA.
What’s your total AO3 word count?
348140
How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
2. SWtOR and Dragon Age
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Dance in the Shadow of Honor - 229 (SWtOR)
Saying Goodbye - 107 (Dragon Age and sadly unfinished)
A Taste for Danger - 59 (SWtOR)
Patience - 58 (SWtOR)
Silence - 49 (SWtOR)
Do you respond to comments; why or why not?
I always try to. I am always so thrilled when someone takes the time to tell me what they thought of my story. And I love talking with people (I’ve made several good friends either commenting on their story or them commenting on mine or both.)
What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
“Taking Flight” I’m told it’s a bit of a gut punch after the light-heartedness of most of the story. I don’t normally write angsty endings, but that one was necessary.
Do you write crossovers? If so what’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I don’t.
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Yes. Someone told me one of my stories would be better without the plot, lol. I was amused (how dare I write a story about a woman’s problems instead of her being there to help with a man’s problems, lol?) I think there may have been one other that I deleted.
Do you write smut? If so what kind?
I’m slowly moving into that. I’ve written one unpublished bit between Koth and my Chiss trooper, Po’teryal (aka Tery) with birthday sex. And @cinlat co-wrote a scene between my Ucevi and her Verin. Not really that explicit, just two people with a lot of pent up frustration, lol. I do plan to include more smut in Dance, but I admit I find writing it a lot more intimidating than reading it.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Yes, I’ve found some posted on a site (possibly the same one Semper mentioned) but got them taken down.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not as far as I know.
What’s your all time favorite ship?
I can’t just list one either.
Ucevi/Quinn
Zastelar/Fiona Quinn (who belongs to @sleepswithvillains
‘Noka/Lana
Whats a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
Saying Goodbye. Unless they really surprise me with DA4, I’ve pretty much lost interest in writing it.
What are your writing strengths?
I honestly am not sure (at least when it comes to fiction.) World-building maybe?
What are your writing weaknesses?
Description, sigh. I can write it (sometimes.) But I forget to write description of settings, etc.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
In general, I don’t. I mean, if it was a story placed in the real world, I could probably manage a bit of Russian or Spanish. But for SWtOR, I throw a few words of Old Sith dialects in and leave it at that.
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
That I let people read? Dragon Age.
That I ever wrote fanfic for? The OT Star Wars movies. I wrote a couple of entire book length pieces in the mid-80s, lol. HORRIBLE stuff that I was writing mostly as an outlet.
What’s your favorite fic that you’ve written?
Oh man, that changes daily, lol. And today’s one of my days to look at Dance and wish I had time to do some heavy edits on the first third of it.
So it’s a toss-up between “Patience” which I mentioned earlier and “Allies”
Tagging: @cinlat @rainofaugustsith  @sleepswithvillains @starknstarwars and anyone else who wants to do it :D

Hi Mimi, I started to write because I loveeee all your works, it really inspires me to write my own story. Since you're doing several stories at once, how do you manage to switch in writing the stories?? because I've been feeling the same too, like I'm working on 1 story, but then I have an idea for another one, and I had been hesitating to write that one because I really wanna finish the first one, but the idea is haunting me and asking me to write them asap, I'm so confused lol.. any writing tips on this? :) Thanks and have a great day!
Hello! This is what exactly happens to me a lot! I tell myself I’m not gonna write anything new, wanting to finish at least half of my already ongoing projects but then I’ve a spark of inspiration and boom! Even tho, I’m trying to resist most of the times and tell myself “no, don’t do it”, I always give in after some time. Honestly, I’m just going with my intuition in this. There are some stories I start to write but they’re unfinished and never make it “out”. I guess my tip for you would be exactly that, just go with your intuition :) if you stop writing that story for some reason and it’s unpublished, then just don’t publish it. You can always go back to it! And if you want to write something new, just do it :)
Have a lovely day! Hope this helped💕

Thank you so much to @herosofmarvelanddc @cloudypaws and @mtab2260 for the tag! This was so much fun to think about :)
(fair warning, I wrote too much for many of these...)
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
Just 2 :)
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
450,577 if I did my math right!
3. How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
Officially? Just 1 - Agents of Shield (two, I guess, if you count MCU as separate, since I use characters from both...). Off the record, many more than that! I have lots of bits and bobs from other fandoms that I tinkered with when I was younger, still getting the hang of writing, not brave enough to post things, etc. etc. Some of those include X-Men, Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, the Fosters, Star Wars, the Hunger Games, the 39 Clues, and a few others I can’t remember. None of those will likely see the light of day, mostly because they’re unfinished, not very good, and just not reflective of who I am as a writer anymore, but they were fun to play around with at the time :)
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
I just have the two, but The Important Thing is to Try wins, hands down, with 1227. Shoulder to Shoulder has 95, though, which I’m also very proud of! Important Thing has a definite advantage, being as long as it is, so I don’t know if that’s really a fair comparison between them.
5. Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
Yes! Or at least, I always try to! I just can’t believe someone would be kind enough to take the time to tell me what they thought of my story, so I always want to take the time to thank them and return the favor :) Plus, as I’ve learned, it’s a fantastic way to get to know some really lovely people!
6. What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
Well... I technically only have one story that has an ending, at least on Ao3, and it’s not an especially angsty one, since it ends in Phil and Melinda getting married :) I have some angsty chapter endings in Important Thing, if that counts? I’m not even sure if any of my unpublished fiddlings have angsty endings (most don’t have endings at all lol)... I don’t mind writing angst, but I don’t know if I’m capable of making something without a happy (or at least hopeful) ending.
7. Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you've ever written?
Not really, unless you count AoS/MCU crossovers (which I guess technically count, but also I would argue it’s not a true crossover since (and I will die on this hill) AoS is a part of MCU canon). When I was younger I was a fan of playing around with crossover AUs more so than the actual characters crossing paths (so like, what if these characters from XYZ were demigods or went to Hogwarts or what have you, and not so much what would happen if the X-Men met Luke, Leia, and Han on one of their space adventures). I started writing a crossover between AoS and the Marvel Rising cartoon once (which again, not sure if that’s a true crossover, since Daisy was in Marvel Rising, but I digress), where Coulson tasks Daisy to work with Kate Bishop and Rayshaun Lucas to collect and train a team of young Inhumans, starting with Kamala Khan, but I ran out of steam pretty quickly when it got too plot heavy.
8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
I don’t think so. I’ve had some people not understand some choices that I made, but they asked it in a way that I thought was perfectly nice, and I was happy to talk about it with them. Sometimes people get “mad” at me when I cause pain and suffering, but I know that’s all in good fun :)
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Nope, not for me. I don’t read it or write it, personally. Writing a kiss is hard enough!
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge! Important Thing is probably too long and unwieldy to ever steal :P
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Someone once asked me on FFN if they could translate Important Thing to Russian, which was basically the coolest thing I’ve ever been asked!
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
A fic, no. I’d love to try sometime! I had a friend in college who I co-wrote with A LOT, though, so I know I enjoy that process, given the right partner. We wrote several short plays together (ranging from ~15-50 minutes in length, including one that we wrote in a single afternoon!), selected scenes from a larger (unfinished) play inspired by historical letters we found in an archive that were sent between a man from Massachusetts serving in the American Civil War, his wife, and his 8-year-old son, and several scripts for TV sitcoms (2 pilots for 2 different shows, plus additional eps for those pilots, and a couple of later eps for a different show that a classmate of ours wrote the pilot for - we were trying to practice what it would be like to be on a staff with a showrunner haha). The sitcom scripts in particular I’m very proud of, and could talk somebody’s ear off about if asked (one’s about ghost hunters and one’s about a DnD party!), but maybe that’s better saved for another post ;)
13. What's your all-time favorite ship?
That’s a very hard question for me! Mostly because shipping stuff is usually one of the last things to register for me when I’m thinking about shows/books/movies I like haha... I’m always a sucker for Philinda, and younger me was rather taken with Percabeth, I suppose.
14. What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?
Hmm, several, really. The aforementioned AoS/Marvel Rising crossover I think could be really cool if I got it to work, but I don’t think that’ll ever happen. I also have a WIP that’s like an angstier version of a Hallmark Christmas movie AU where Daisy has to come home to her small town right before Christmas and figure out what she wants out of life, but I’m a little stalled out on that one, mostly because I’m waffling on who the charming love interest should be and because I don’t have enough of a plot, just lots of feelings about coming back home to a place you thought you had left behind lol.
I’d put Important Thing and it’s (as of yet) untitled sequel on here as things I want to finish, but I’m much more determined to see those through, so I don’t think they qualify for the “never will actually write” part of this question :)
15. What are your writing strengths?
I don’t know if other people agree with this, but I think I write pretty decent dialogue. My “training” (if you can call it that) is in, as you might have figured out by now, script and screenplay writing (those were the only creative writing classes I took in college). So having a sense of the rhythm a conversation needs to have and how to write dialogue that sounds mostly like how people really talk (but shined and tightened up enough so that it’s not actually like verbatim dialogue, which is far less interesting to read!) is something that I feel like comes pretty easily. I also think I do okay with similes and metaphors - my brain tends to work in that way. It’s easier for me to think of stuff (feelings, especially) in terms of comparing it to more familiar things than to just think of the thing directly, if that makes sense?
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
If I was being honest, this would be a very long section, but I know it’s not fun to read a big ol’ paragraph of someone self-criticizing, so I’ll keep it to one or two items ;) A big one for me is pacing, I think. I tend to write more than I need to and to over-explain things, so my chapters get very long and sometimes don’t really go anywhere? Until all of the sudden, they DO, because things need to HAPPEN! I’m a pretty rigorous self-editor, but I do have a really hard time cutting out sections (unless they’re really just not working), so even if it would help the pacing to leave out this conversation between character A and character B, I often can’t make myself cut it. I also think I struggle sometimes with balancing my ‘showing’ and my ‘telling,’ especially in the sense of me over-explaining certain things - like when it comes to feelings/facial expressions/etc, for example. I compensate for that in Important Thing by making it a part of a few people’s POV, but it’s not really a good habit to have in general. Also spelling! I’m really bad at spelling and run my stuff through robust spellchecks and text-to-speech before I post anything to make up for it :)
17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I do it with some regularity, although I always get nervous about doing it wrong! It’s hard to avoid in AoS, where characters are spies and should (in theory, at least) have a working knowledge of multiple languages (”We’re spies, I thought we all learned languages?!”). Even in an AU, where characters aren’t spies, I like to try and pay homage to that, plus pay homage to certain characters’ native languages or just general multilingualism. I’ve spent a fair amount of time around people who speak more than one language, so I feel like it’s a natural part of groups of people to have more than one language spoken. I have a pretty good handle on written Spanish, a patchy idea of French, plus I know some Russian phrases from my dad and some German words from my grandfather, but I do rely on internet translation a lot. I usually run stuff through google, then run it backwards to see just how far off the initial translation was, then consult some actual, like, language learning sites to see if there’s particular idioms or common phrases that use different words than what google will give me, then run those words through backwards in the place of the original words to see if I can massage the whole thing to sound reasonably competent. Languages like Russian or Mandarin (which have their own alphabets/characters) are the hardest, since I have to also try and do a transliteration. I always try to put an apology/disclaimer in the notes any time I write in a language that isn’t English, because I’m sure I make lots of mistakes.
Also, I tend not to italicize words that are in other languages, because it looks weird on the page to me to set the other language apart like that (and because I italicize mainly for internal thoughts or emphasis, and usually what’s being said in another language isn’t internal or being emphasized). I put a rough translation at the end so we don’t have to pause the story for a parenthetical translation, but because the translation’s not right there, I try to either put in enough context clues that a person can still understand what’s going on, or I make sure that what’s written in another language isn’t critical to the overall understanding of the scene.
18. What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Officially, it’s AoS, since that’s the only fandom I’ve published for. I think the first true fandom I wrote fic for was probably either Harry Potter (entirely populated with OCs lol, I just liked using the world/setting), Percy Jackson (a mix of OCs and canon characters), or X-Men (all canon characters). I was a bit of a latecomer to fanfiction, though, like, I wrote a ton as a kid, but mostly original stuff, because I didn’t know that fanfiction in its current form was even allowed until I was in high school lol.
Oh! I almost forgot one! I’m not sure if this really counts as a fandom, but it’s definitely the earliest version of fanfic I wrote haha... I was like 12 and I wrote more than one story of an OC joining Robin Hood’s band of Merry Men, and then also one of that same OC becoming a knight of the Round Table, so like... do what you will with that information haha.
19. What's you're favorite fic you've written?
I can’t choose between my two darlings :( I mean, okay, technically it’s probably Important Thing. That story’s my baby. It’s huge and I’ve been working on it for almost 2 years, and I’ve poured a lot of my heart and soul into it. I’ve fallen in love with the universe I built in it, so much so that I wrote an entire prequel and have very concrete plans for a lengthy sequel. But I can’t not crow about Shoulder to Shoulder (the aforementioned prequel!), too... I’m just really proud of that one - it has a lot of firsts for me. First completed story. First romance-focused story. First foray into expanding the Important Thing universe. But yes, if I have to choose, then Important Thing wins. That’s a story that I started writing exclusively for myself - to give myself characters I could relate to and to explore a style of AoS fic that I loved reading - and that’s a story I will always and forever be proud of.
I think most people have probably answered this tag game at this point, so I don’t want to accidentally retag anyone! If you haven’t yet, and would like to join in, please do! This is your invitation <3

the boyz
3. how long have you been writing?
since 2018
4. on which platforms do you post your stories
ao3 and tumblr
5. what is your favorite genre to write?
angst/exes to lovers
6. are you a pantser or a planner?
planner definitely! i stay with my wips for a long time.. that way i can really focus on the backstory and the details of each story (and how it makes sense within its own world and how it connects with other fics).
7. one-shot or multi-chapter?
multi-chapter. even if it’s a oneshot, i still connect it to other oneshots !! i feel like when i write oneshots.. i end up making up a whole universe around it or it often feels too short, too unfinished for me. so even if it takes me four months (cough by fate cough) i will see it till the end of time :)
8. what is the perfect chapter length in your opinion?
when it comes to chapters that i write for my series, i feel like when i hit the 1-2k word count, it’s a complete chapter. these days i love adding details and descriptions so .. it reaches 4-5k 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫
9. what is your longest published story?
by fate (27k words + not counting my outlines and unpublished drafts)
10. which story did you enjoy working on the most?
i always talk about my series (once more, by fate, and an upcoming one, see me in a crown) and ofc those are my babies bc i spend months with them.. but my favorite is come to you like spring. it’s my comfort fic. always a rr for me. ❤️
11. favorite request you’ve written and why?
i rarely have requests because i have not opened them in like a half a year </3 BUT my favorite one is definitely fall for you. it’s a short and sweet jeno fic!
12. are there reoccurring themes in your stories?
exchanging handwritten notes, misunderstandings, talking over coffee, drunken confessions
13. current number of wips?
one active wip, at least 15 wip ideas
14. three things you have noticed about your writing?
i have subconsciously connected my stories somehow—that means in every story, the other members you see also has a story of their own and more often than not, i take that as a fic idea :)
whenever i rr my stories, i remember what i was doing during the time i was writing it because of the influences i had while crafting the plot
i take your guys’ feedback to heart a lot. and i think it’s a good thing (esp bc i don’t really get hate—if i did i would delete them anyway lol) but what i meant is that, you guys kind of write these stories with me. the different interpretations you have in my stories influence the way i write the endings and climaxes. seeing your reactions after that is so satisfying so i love doing it.
15. a quote you like from a published story?
i have two because i can’t choose :)
“perhaps, the same attribute that made it so beautiful is the same reason that made it so fragile.”
“Love me, anyway. A thousand times, a million times—love me,” you repeated, “Stop giving me a taste of what we could be if you’re just going to leave me all over again-”
16. a quote from an unpublished story?
“For once, all the attention was not on him, and sometimes, that’s all that he asks for.”
17. space for you to say something to your readers~
i will never get tired of letting you know how much i love you all. thank you for making this blog, making my dream come true. ❤️ (also pls join my taglist and rb my fics coming up mwahh)

Five favourites
So, @totallysilvergirl and @anindoorkitty and at least one other lovely person (I’m so sorry that I’ve forgotten who you were!!!) tagged me in a thing that I wasn’t going to do it, because picking only FIVE favourites out of EIGHTY-SIX fics feels like an unusually cruel task to set before me, but I’m caving to the pressure. I thought about rebelling and doing ten, because I do have a significant output here (just tipped 2.3 million words!!)... but then it gets even harder to choose! This was still just so, so hard. If someone asked me “if I could only read five of your stories ever, which five would you prefer that to be?”, I GUESS I would give them these ones. And yes, I can count. It’s six. Deal with it.
Against the Rest of the World. I mean, you knew this would be on here. It’s my longest story (in this fandom, at least), clocking in just below 152,000 words. It took me four solid months of working on it daily to write. It’s in first person voice, which is something I’ve almost never done for any other character apart from Sherlock, but writing it that way made it feel like I was living directly inside his head for those months. I missed him when the story was over. It’s the fic upon which my unpublished novel is based. It took me more location research than anything else I’ve ever written. Every single place in there, be it a street, restaurant, hotel, store, etc, is a real place. Much of this story was set in countries that has not (yet?) permitted google maps access. That added to the challenge for sure. It’s not perfect and may well not be my best writing ever, but this thing was a beast to write! I was updating with new chapters on average every six days. I never want to live like that again, which is why I never post unfinished WIPs anymore - I can’t handle the pressure! I might post it in chunks, but it’s always finished first.
Bridging the Ravine. I just found this universe so much fun to live in! It has a record number of named OCs (over 20, I believe!), some of whom are fully-fledged people who come back in the sequel, etc, plus the luxurious atmosphere of the spa-like retreat centre, the added bonus of getting to write Sherlock and John some much-needed therapy following series 4, the need to pose as a couple for the case anyway (fun fact: this was my first time ever knowingly writing a known trope!), the unabashed romance of it... yeah. It was fun. :)
The Wisteria Tree. For sheer emotional impact alone, I think this is some of my best writing. Multiple readers have told me that they cried throughout. I hadn’t even known that “amnesia fic” was a Thing was out there, in my sheltered little life over here! The concept of this story is that Sherlock suffers memory loss spanning over five years and wakes up from a coma to discover that, in that time, he and John got married. His furious attempt to retroactively catch up to the person he had become is both painful and, I hope, romantic as John struggles with having lost what they had, too. But they find their way.
Scars. If you want to see how dark my writing can go, look no further. There’s a scene in this story I finished writing, stood up even as I was closing my laptop, put on shoes and walked out of my apartment. I just had to get physically away from the fic. I did a heap of research on this one, too, specifically following the questions of: was Mary’s behaviour toward John in series 3 (this was written before series 4 aired) gaslighting and emotionally abusive? And if it was, how does that behaviour typically play out in female->male spousal abuse situations? I talked to three different therapists, only one of whom had seen Sherlock. I showed the other two the opening scene between John and Mary in HLV and without hesitation, they both agreed that it was absolutely textbook gaslighting. I asked all three of them how, if left unchecked, abusive relationships of that nature typically progress. This story goes there, and it’s ugly. It gets to a good place by the end, but there’s a journey you have to endure first. I’m proud of this one notwithstanding, particularly of a scene in chapter 5 (where Sherlock finds out the full extent of what happened). But omg, read the warnings first if you haven’t read this one and are thinking of trying it!!
Vena Cava. I have written so very many series 3 fix-its. I love all of them for their own reasons, but if you put a gun to my head and made me choose my favourite of them, it would still be this one. The dual hurt-comfort structure (Sherlock is suffering physically from Mary’s shot; John is suffering emotionally from it), the fact that it’s all set within HLV, and the bathroom kiss scene just put it up there for me.
The White Lotuses. A classic example of a SilentAuror domestic comfort fic! So much good food in this story, plus a delightful (I hope!) slow burn. A go-to for a bad day that needs salvaging. :)
Honestly, ask me again on a different day and I’ll give you five (or six!) totally different stories. This is too hard!! Seriously, so mean. Lol.
