Once again, I detect a distinct deficit of 🌌🌹💜 I have strayed from the Ship Lord and his will. I shall take a moment to write a little thought I had on them today to atone. ☕

(Warning, 🌌🌹💜 and possible spoilers ahead!)

It just dawned on me…

In a universe where Kuja lives, thanks to Sal’s Etherealism, he inherits her “ancestral memories” as well. Which is to say, he not only has the occasional dream of some of her memories, but her “maker’s” memories too.

In a universe where he lives, thanks to another Ethereal’s Etherealism, he has dreams of their ancestral memories instead.

Both prove just as fascinating as the other to me… either we all get to know bits and pieces of a different Ethereal’s life (that I wouldn’t even know! I too would learn as I wrote it. Haha!) or he would see little parts of Sal (and her Ethereal lineage’s) life, which is vulnerable, but also endearing in ways, given the fact that some of those “dreams” could be of stories she had already told him and they’d feel that much more impactful. You also have the obvious tenderness of Ethereal companionship on top of non-Ethereal companionship - it's to have a strong desire to want to get to know someone and your biology allowing you to get to know them better than you ever could have before, basically.

So, there’s that… 🫠 (Makes the whole idea that he doesn’t survive even sadder when you realize 🎵 “What Might Have Been.~” That’ll haunt me for the rest of my days. I really should just make one story where he lives and we can all be happy. I really do write too many sad stories… it’d be therapeutic to write a less sad one, one day.) 🥲💙
