a/n: THREE MORE FINALS GUYS I GOT THIS 🤌🤌 also i am absolutely not up to par with the quality of my enemies to lovers, but i hope you still enjoy 😉

y/n asked herself the same question every single day at the beginning of her shift. what had she done to make eddie hate her so much? it seemed like he physically was unable to smile when she was around. he avoided her like the plague when in reality, she just wanted to be professional about this.

it’s a natural human response to dislike someone back. people never want to be hated and often get frustrated with the other person involved. y/n always thought the word was too harsh, always regretting it when she said it, but there was no other word to describe their relationship.

eddie’s life has been nothing but uncertainty. having a life with nothing to expect led him to loneliness, craving any form of relationship he had. after the army, he struggled with trying to get back to reality. y/n brought him back too easily, and it irked him.

it didn’t help that she was eerily similar to him personality wise. he hates to admit it, but y/n reminds him of all the things he wishes he could change in himself and she is the constant reminder of that. he couldn’t pick something specific out that he didn’t like through all the time of being bugged by her.

as a prime example, y/n walked into work that morning and almost instantly, eddie’s laugh faded away. she wasn’t even going to say anything, she couldn’t deal with him with everything else going on. her family has been on her case the past few weeks and it doesn’t seem to be over. she’s completely burnt out, eddie being part of the ash. she still showed up at work at the 118, perfectly on time for everyone else is her escape.

there’s no denying that she is a wonderful addition to the 118. she’s wildly talented in her field and knows exactly where she’s needed. she’s looked up upon by her coworkers.

“hey, y/n!” buck says, excited to see his friend.

“hi, buck,” she replies, lightly smiling trying to shield any thoughts from eddie or what she’s dealing with. she looks around at everyone, picking around at the bowl of fruit someone had cut up. the team had noticed she’d been off, zoning out and not celebrating with them as much. the thought she was avoiding them after work, and she really was.

she figured anything eddie had to say to her would just add to the pile of stress that she had, so she let him go out with the team for drinks and other stuff. everyone loved eddie, and if she caused problems with him, she thought they’d take his side without hearing the story.

of course, the affect of athena has rub off on bobby and his investigation. he wanted to have a little fun, seeing how bad y/n and eddie were together. he knew working together and saving people would be fine, so he decided to put them on ambulance together. of course, both of them thought they’d been denied to get through the gates of heaven when bobby passed out the demand. the first call was simple, driving to the hospital silently other than vital checks and orders. the next was too, neither of them speaking to each other unless they were administering something. the last call was particularly difficult for y/n, being a close reminder of what she had to deal with at home.

it was just a little kid, being the scapegoat of all the families problems. all the fights, he sat and listened to something he couldn’t control. he was so little that he called 911 out of fear, the police and the ambulance showing up. y/n was relieved no one was actually hurt and no one needed to go to the hospital, but something about it really sent her over the edge.

she was driving the ambulance back to the station, eddie in the passengers seat. she said harmless words to him, “poor kid, it sucks having to deal with that.”

“well, there’s nothing we can do. cant intervene.”

“i know, i just wish i could’ve helped-“

“what could you have helped, y/n?” he interrupts abruptly, causing her to glance at him. “clearly, you have no clue what it’s like to go through that because you wouldn’t be so caught up on it. it’s not like you would’ve made a difference anyway.”

his words were like a sword in her chest. there’s no way he really things she’s no help. the impact she’s made in the community is noticeable, and she tries so hard everyday to make the own community of her last name come together. he was hitting way too close to home, and it was her last straw before the light tears formed on her waterline. she blinked them away, trying to clear her sight but the stinging in her eyes kept bringing them up. she was already embarrassed enough, and crying in front of her the person who hated her was even more humiliating.

“jesus, y/n,” eddie mocks. “you’re a damn adult, there’s no valid reason to be crying right now.”

as they get closer to the station, she pulls into the garage, parking carefully before she shakily shoves her door open. thank god her shift ended before his did, so she could get out of this hellhole. “screw you, diaz,” she says as one final press to his button. he leans back in his seat, not expecting her to retort back to him.

she rubs her red eyes, shuffling out of the car and abandoning the ambulance behind her. eddie couldn’t even bring himself to get out. he thought he might be having a heart attack because of the new feeling he has. did he feel bad for her? he didn’t think that was possible, she’d had enough pity come her way. when y/n walked past everyone and into the showers, hen, chim, and buck gave him a look that had, “are you serious?” written all over their faces. y/n scrubbed off every last word she had received from eddie, or she tried, at least. they stuck with her like a spider in a trap, along with the other baggage she’d been carrying.

the alarm had gone off while she was in the showers, telling her that eddie was gone on a call with the rest of the team. she went into the locker rooms to get the rest of her stuff and leave this exhausting day behind her. she was shoving her stuff into her duffel bag when eddie’s phone started going wild in his cabinet. he usually brings it on calls. she didn’t let the curiosity get the best of her, needing no more reminders of him in her mind. so, she climbed into her car and started the drive home, even though nothing would be different there.

she notices someone sitting on the sidewalk against the stairs of a building. she knew who it was instantly. eddie’s son, christopher, had been waiting outside which was very odd. school had ended a while ago. his red crutches were sitting next to him and he looked around desperately for anyone he knew. she knew she couldn’t leave him there, and eddie didn’t have his phone, so she pulled into the parking lot next to the building.

“christopher? what are you doing here?”

“tía was supposed to pick me up but she didn’t show up, so i was gonna walk home.”

“oh, buddy. i’d call your dad but he’s on a call.”

“i just want to go home,” chris says, making a frown form on y/n’s face.

“you have a key, right?” christopher nods. “here, i’ll bring you home and i can make you something to eat.”

she helps him get into the car and he tells her where to go, eventually pulling up the the house of eddie. he’d probably flip his shit if he knew she was here, but he’d want his son safe at home more. it’s not like she could’ve taken him to her apartment, eddie would be livid.

the 118 had arrived back at the station, putting away their gear and setting their stuff back where it should be. eddie had overheard someone say that there were repeated calls to someone in the locker room, so he decided he should probably check his phone. his heart skipped a beat when he saw his tías name flashing across the screen a million times. “tía! ¿que paso?”

“it’s christopher! i completely forgot he was getting out at a different time and i was picking him up,” eddie hears her say and he almost drops his phone to the ground. “i went to the school, and he wasn’t there, edmundo.”

“what?” he says. “ok, i’m leaving now, i’ll go look. maybe another parent dropped him off.”

eddie speeds over to his home, passing all the cars slower than him. he would never recover if something happened to chris. he wouldn’t be able to live with himself. he slams his car door shut, running to the door and frantically turning the doorknob. he rapidly moves inside, shouting christopher’s name, praying for a reply. he walks into the kitchen to see y/n standing over a boiling pot, and his face goes pale as a ghost when he sees her.

“he’s in the living room with headphones on. i found him trying to walk home,” y/n tells him.

“where was he?”

“the offices on north west,” she takes notices of his expression. “i’m sorry, eddie. i can leave in a minute. i would’ve called you, but-“

“no apologizing, don’t worry about it,” he says, calmly. “thank you. so much, y/n, thank you.”

she nods, smiling lightly because this might get her in the door a bit better. “it’s really not a problem. i was happy to do this for him, i just wanted him safe for you.”

she begins to gather her belongings like her phone and wallet, putting it back into her purse and picking up.

“y/n, wait,” eddie says, placing a hand on her arm. “i have to say i’m sorry. i was nothing but a complete dick for no reason and i had no clue you had so much going on. i got yelled at by hen and was told to lay off.”

y/n laughs a bit, “are you only saying this because hen told you to?”

“absolutely not. y/n, you just saved my son. god only knows what could’ve happened, i mean we live in a massive city. it means the world to me that you were there for him when i couldn’t be. i’ve treated you like shit and you’ve never even done a bad thing. you just… scared me.”

“i scared you? i think you can take the prize there, eddie.”

“ok, maybe not scared, but i was intimidated. because i see so much of myself in you and i couldn’t handle that.”

“it’s ok, really. i just need breather for a little. i am that little kid that we got called to today and you completely disregarded it. i would have never done that to you.”

“i never, ever want to make you feel like that again. i want to make this work, you and i. so, stay for dinner tonight. you already went through the hassle of cooking for him, why don’t you eat it?”

“i’m happy to make boxed mac and cheese for him anytime, eddie. and i’m here for you and your kid whenever you need it.” she and eddie sit down at the table, letting whatever was on their chest come out as christopher played video games in the other room.

Love your yandere academy AU!! I have a few Thoughts on it if you don't mind...

First of all the inherent loneliness and otherness you'd feel as the only darling at school? Mwah 🤌 The constant fear of being found out? Delicious. In a way it almost reminds me of Furina in 4.2, having to put on a never-ending show, never letting anyone see your true colors. Her stakes might have been a little higher, sure, but the general vibe is the same.

Next I could imagine darling using the classes as a way to get a leg up on their classmates. They know everything the yanderes do, which helps to even out the playing field, even if just a little. It's easier to avoid being manipulated when you're taking the same psychology classes as the people trying to manipulate you.

Finally I've been thinking about how the yanderes would feel when falling for diet before their identity is discovered. Yanderes falling for other yanderes is rare, and when not reciprocated, it rarely ends well. Especially if darling is a straight A student, they'll know they have to work twice as hard to get them in their grasp, either willingly or not. And with so many people starting to take an interest in them? Even more work. Normally it'd be fine to deal with one or two rivals, but multiple classes of them? Not so simple.

Idk it's just a really neat idea and I'd love to see more of it sometime

First of all, thank you for sending in an ask! I´m very happy that feedback has been pretty positive so far because I was actually a bit hesitant on posting my idea at first. So this is really uplifting! ☺️

So let´s discuss all of these concepts you brought up for a bit!

Yandere! Normalized Genshin Academy AU

First of all, yes, you´re totally right! I´m really happy that the inherent feeling of loneliness came through in my writing because it´s one of the first thoughts I had when envisioning this AU. Just imagine how truly alone you must feel, living in a world where all these toxic relationships are viewed as normal and even desirable. All your life, you´ve been terrified of the future, of when the day a yandere desires you would come. You´ve been having nightmares about the day you would feel eyes cling to you way too long for comfort.

And now, you find yourself in this gigantic mess. Not only will you have to stress over your new academy life, but also the people you have to cross paths with in the hallway every day. You have to keep your guard up and play along with the insanity going on around you all day long, you can´t rest or relax for even a second. Because one second might be enough to expose you as who you really are: a helpless darling within a sea of predators just waiting to sink their claws into you.

No matter what, while you´re here you can´t be your true self, you can´t speak your true thoughts because you would be putting yourself in danger. You try your best to stay away from your fellow students but isolating yourself like that feels just as lonely.

And sometimes, you catch yourself almost slipping up when you inevitably have to talk to another student. People like Thoma, Amber, or Kaveh have easy-going and friendly demeanors, they talk to you so eagerly that you can´t help but feel yourself let loose for a bit, only to realize with a start that even these people who seem nice and approachable have to hide dark feelings and thoughts if they´re going to this school. Maybe in another life, you might have loved to have them as close friends but you know how twisted they must be deep down. You cannot allow yourself to trust anyone here and it´s so mentally taxing.

Oh, absolutely! Darling might be terrified by what they´re being taught as if it was the most normal thing in the world but they´re certainly glad to know some of the tricks a yandere might use. They obviously don´t plan on ever using those tips themselves but it´s useful when it comes to keeping their guard up. Thanks to these classes, they know better than to readily accept gifts from any of their "friends" without thoroughly checking them for cameras beforehand.

It´s both a blessing and a curse, really. Darling has a harder time keeping up the facade when confronted with all these new wicked ways to ensnare a darling during classes but they also serve well as a safety precaution. Can´t be tricked if you know all the tricks yourself, right? Though their anxiety would probably skyrocket, questioning every little gesture, gift, or phrase directed at them.

And your last point is also a very interesting point that I would like to elaborate on a bit more! I indeed also think that yanderes dating yanderes would be a very rare thing and I´d even go so far as to say it might be discouraged by society at large. And it´s not for the logical reason one might think of. The fact that two yanderes together would probably cause a spike in murders or similar catastrophes is not the real problem here.

It´s the fact that two yanderes dating each other means that two poor darlings will now have to go without a yandere </3

Even though yanderes are very normalized, I would still say that they´re probably still a minority ( at least I sure hope for the good of the world that half the population isn´t some sort of crazed lovesick fool). This of course comes with the conseqence that there are many more darlings than there are yanderes. Factor in the fact that a darling x yandere relationship is seen as the ideal relationship, something to strive for, and very soon you will see why yanderes dating other yanderes is kind of frowned upon.

Now even fewer darlings will get to have a loving yandere partner!

To you, it´s sick and twisted that this is the consensus, that yanderes and all the horrible things that they do are so romanticized. But at the same time, you´re really glad for this being a thing now because it greatly reduces the risk of one of your fellow students pursuing you for as long as you can still pose as a yandere.

But just because it´s frowned upon doesn´t mean that it´s illegal or that it never happens. There isn´t really any reasoning with a yandere in love so when they have their sights set on someone, there´s pretty much no stopping them. And who would want to be the one to tell them that they shouldn´t be in love with another yandere? That they should give up on you? That wouldn´t go very well.

So sadly enough, once your fellow students grow really interested in you, even you being perceived as another yandere would be enough to deter them. Of course, they´ll have to be more careful when approaching this than if you were a darling. As mentioned, you know all about the different ways to "win someone´s heart" and so they´ll have to adapt their approaches in some way.

Of course, having multiple rivals for your love isn´t making things any easier. Trying to get close to you when you know all their tricks is hard enough, they don´t need any distractions trying to steal your affection. It will certainly turn into a very fierce competition soon and it only gets worse the more people grow infatuated with you.

Your only hope is that they´ll just spend all of their time trying to get rid of the others so that they leave you alone. You´ll certainly have to be very careful about how you interact with your classmates from now on. One compliment and they´ll latch onto the possibility of you secretly loving them as well and then they´ll certainly never let go of you.

Just finished watching Sonic Prime and I really enjoyed it!

1. The fact that they took a not so mature but powerful sonic

2. Showed his main problem being never listening to his friends and charging head on.

3. Every episode showed him trying to rebuild and regain the trust his friends had in him, cuz of all the times he abandoned them.

4. Shadow and Sonics dynamic is just amazing

5. Having him face head on the issues of him always leaving when they need him and then returning like nothing ever happens

6. Hin being everyone’s beacon of hope.

7. Lmao my man Nine was just minding his own business trying to be emo and angsty and suddenly the brightest colour and hyperactive golden retriever breaks into your lab and starts chatting with you.

7. Letting him be flawed, and his shortcomings.

8. THE ENDING!! Was so well done!! Setting up an early dynamic between the two and having it all culminate in a damn good rift

9. Sonics friends are the best parts of him, is really the only way to defeat him. As literally seen by them only being able to defeat robot Sonic cuz they were all fighting together. Especially tails as Nine is the only one who was able to deal a fatal blow. Usually because Sonic leads him right to the trap, kinda foreshadowing how Sonic played himself and let Nine destroy his only chance at getting back (essentially destroying himself).

10. The parallel of the last scene where shadows at the top of the mountain and Sonic is in the cave 🤌✨✨.

11. The way Nine immediately grew so happy and beamed thinking Sonic was going to love his planet.

Theory:

Maybe since this season was all about Sonic’s blind faith and trust in his friends, it all being shattered might bring interesting changes. Sonic getting to his lowest as he realises that he’s all alone, it’s all his fault and those people, no matter how alike they are, they’re not his real “friends”. He screwed up. Again, and again. I think this was foreshadowed quite nicely in how mechanic sonic kept chiding him for being a failure. Maybe then Shadow yells at him, and later on sees how down sonic is. I want sonic to kind of go through a corruption arc, where he loses all hope in his friends and himself and adopts a more “Nine-like” attitude. And always beats himself up, refusing to do anything because he’s just so scared of messing up again.

No more funny jokes. No more rapid speed or constant chatter. Just focused and quiet.

Think that would really scare the hell out of everyone, and immediately set off warning bells for Shadow actually being truly concerned about Sonic, and the dynamics between then shift. Sonic sees the world in dark, and Shadow is the one who has to try and motivate him, get him to be himself again.

Maybe Nine uses the shard for making his own reality, but then realises how much he missed sonic. Maybe he gets to meet the real Tails, and kind of learn about the life Sonic had with them, seeing them all happy.

Maybe the next season would revolve around his friends now helping him. Sonic taking all their lessons to heart, being so underconfident and mad at himself he doesn’t trust himself to do anything anymore without the fear of messing everything up.

My boy spent two seasons back to back constantly fighting for something that was taken away from him by someone he trusted. Had to prove his loyalty over and over again, had his mistake be thrown in his face dozens of times. He’s crushed. Maybe the writers would pull an anxiety attack like Puss in Boots, because I did notice Sonic’s hands shook a little in one of the episodes, like a little anxiety tic.

Or maybe he gets mad, and some prism energy that’s built up inside him awakens, leaving him more powerful than another, too consumed by his rage to realise he’s damaging the world while Shadow tries to calm him down.

Sonic is tired. He has been doing nothing but fighting and making up for his mistakes, only to have all the hope he gathered from the fragmented pieces shattered again, right in front of him. Especially when others warned him. Sonic was stubborn.

Let him give up. And let us see his friends bring him back to life.

At least I stayed in bed all day watching Marvel, so that's great!

and yeah the fact that jimin's wife is a lawyer did not go unnoticed....lol

i absolutely loved the idea of portraying pjm as a fuckboy/player...loved the initial dilemma about his feelings for the girl; on one side he seems caring and thoughtful to pay her fees but at the same time fails to acknowledge her financial liberty...he then comes up with his goddam unreasonable arguments and reasonings,,, sigh!!

and the way he proposes for marriage was hilarious....that's blackmailing dude!!!..... like who does that.... i don't get it.

but it was still all okay.....only until he punched that guy.....what's with all his insecurities (idk maybe because he is a player himself there is this constant fear of losing her)

Overall thoughts on the episode?

Overall, I thought it was a great episode! It's definitely one I'm going to have to go back and watch eventually because I honest to god had half an idea what was actually going on plot wise. Jay Halstead was distracting me too damn much. I thought it really let Jay's natural sense of leadership shine, and I feel as though it was a set up for whatever role they plan for Jay to play in the finale/Voight&Anna storyline. I'm definitely sad about the lack of upstead scenes, but I went into the episode kinda expecting it after seeing the promo. I'm going to do my loves/crits because I feel like there were many on both sides (I kinda like the idea of doing this for all eps from now on if you're interested) I'll put it under a cut since this will be a bit long:

Loves:

The Sergeant Jay vibes were immaculate. Jesse was phenomenal throughout, but I think he specifically played that struggle of Jay wanting to support the kid while also being skeptical of him so well. Also the scenes where he was calling out instructions in the field was so sexy to me

That flirty upstead scene? It was so true to them and it definitely seemed like a moment of lightness Jay needed in that moment

THE SILENT COMMUNICATION - truly one of my favorite things about upstead and I love that in a show that lacks continuity this is one of the few things they have been able to keep constant

The Trudy and Jay content was 🤌🏼 and I'm going to need more of that

Hailey's little "Jay" after they get shot at towards the end was such a small moment, but you could hear the fear in her voice. She needed to know he was okay

I'm glad the kid turned out alright. I'm so intrigued by his story and I really hope this isn't the last of him (though I'm not holding my breath)

Crits:

I feel like they could've worked in a few more lines for upstead. I don't feel like this is me being greedy either. We used to get worried lines all the time before they were even canon. Personally, I would've written in something after all of those 10-1 calls, after/during being shot at together, or even before Jay went to talk to Torres in the locker room. Some sort of reassurance between them.

The plot point with the mole in the academy? I know they made it a big point so that it could be reason to cast doubt on Torres, but it was just so gimmicky. Like was his prior gang affiliation actually what they thought was the infiltration or is there someone else who is an active member mole in the academy? I feel like that could have used some clarity

The fact that they made Jay have the burden of the kid all alone. They acted as if Jay had chosen this kid and nobody gave him support as he struggled with the right way to suss him out. I know it was given to him as his responsibility, but I would have liked to have seen him talk it through with someone. The Voight convo was just not enough. I think this is something previous seasons Jay would have talked through with Hailey, but really I wanted to see him talk it through with Trudy. Especially since she was struggling on her own with thinking she brought a bad recruit into the unit.
