The look he gives you when you first told him you were his partner. He tried not to get close, tried to keep you at arms length, and it worked for a while, or so he thought.

You would bring him homemade baked goods and lunch daily. He'd pretend he wasn't interested but as soon as you'd leave the room /area to get something, he'd take a peek and eventually eat what you brought. You'd notice the empty containers but never said anything, only smiling happy he accepted them, and nodding once he finally thanked you.

He didn't want to get close to you, look at the people who he was close to in the past and what happened with them, he thought he was keeping you safe by not letting you in. It wasn't until you went on a solo recon mission and didn't come back that he realized his real feelings for you and decided he must do anything to get you back.

(Sorry this is horrible. I'm tired and also not wearing my glasses so also sorry for mistakes)
