#'Roxy did you set the house three streets away on fire?'
monty-glasses-roxy · 1 year
Note
i guess roxy being a pyromaniac has its perks, she keeps the pizzaplex up to date on building fire safety (like making sure the sprinkler systems and smoke alarms work properly)
Yup! The fire systems in the Raceway in particular are state of the art! Truly, the height of fire fighting technology!
All thanks to one wolf animatronic that really loves arson!

INFP Music Collaboration Project: Complete!
Tumblr media
The INFP Collaboration Playlist Project is now complete!
In total we had about 200 songs submitted and that completely blew me away! Thank you all so much for participating, I had no idea that it would get this many responses!
Thank you especially to @rokokokokolores,  @stillnotknowing, @anypassingthought, @2nerd4this, @sonsoftie, @aseratreasures, @infp-relatable, @lunagirl0013, @idunno-justpicksomething, and @namhamjoon (please let me know if I accidentally forgot to tag you)
These are just the participants who were okay with being named but also thank you to all of the anonymous participants!
Here’s the final playlist from everyone’s suggestions, including some of mine that I threw in even though some of you beat me to the punch for a few songs.
Here is the INFP Music Collaboration Project!
Spotify Link: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2F8xgXYEKiJSBOo7g8IvON
I was thinking of doing another one of these in the future but just make up my own prompts and put them all in one form and leave it open for a while or forever and just update the playlist twice a month or something like that. The Birthday Surprise
Pairing: Dean x reader
Summary: Dean gets you out of the house with a surprise for your birthday, but what if you come home early?
Words: 1100ish
Warnings: Fluff, Dean being terrible at baking, bad pun at the end, mild language
A/N: This fic is written for @thing-you-do-with-that-thing her birthday. Happy birthday Kari! I hope you enjoy my gift even though I put it together very last minute. Bad time management skills, woops!
A/N 2: Imagine this gif when Dean says his last line ;)
Tumblr media
Today is the day. Your thirtieth birthday. The big three zero isn’t an age you are looking forward to, but there is no stopping father time. Lucky for you neither of the Winchester brothers really care about birthdays. A quick ‘happy birthday’ and a tiny gift, generally followed by a hunt is the usual routine you are all content with.
Dean on the other hand seems to disregard your tradition today. The moment you wake up he is smothering you with his kisses and seconds later he hands you over a tray. Breakfast in bed, that’s a first. It doesn’t stop there. Between the little bowls and plates filled with delicious foods, an envelope lays on the tray. Your boyfriend urges you to open it, a goofy grin on his lips as he watches you intently.
Your fingers pry open the pouch and grab hold of a thin slip of paper. Cautiously you pull it out of the envelope, your eyes scanning over the words. It is a voucher for a beauty salon. For two people. Dean notices the frown on your forehead.
“You don’t like it?” he asks softly. You look up into his eyes and place a quick kiss on his pouty lips.
“I do like it. You know I love a day of getting spoiled, but we don’t give each other gifts like this, Dean. Last year you gave me shotgun bullets for Christ’s sake,” you laugh, Dean quickly joining you. “And I don’t see you going to a spa,” you chuckled.
Now Dean is the one frowning. “Oh, I’m not going to the spa with you. Charlie is.” At his words you feel excited, yet disappointed. You would never turn down a fun day with Charlie, but being away from Dean for hours on your birthday isn’t exactly what you had imagined. A lazy morning in bed filled with cuddles is more what you had in mind. You push your thoughts aside, putting a smile on your face. You enjoy the breakfast your boyfriend has prepared for you and change into your outfit of the day.
About an hour later Charlie marches into the bunker to kidnap you from the Winchesters. You hastily say goodbye to the brothers and follow your redhead friend towards her rusty car. How the thing is still driving, you have no idea, but as Charlie puts it: “It gets you from point A to point B.” The spa is located two towns over and in merely twenty minutes you reach your destination. The trip would have taken longer if Charlie wasn’t such a fan of the gas pedal.
She parks her car somewhere in the same street as the beauty salon. You and your friend get out and stroll towards the right building. Your heart drops as you take in the ‘closed’ sign and a dark shop. A paper on the door announces the sudden closure due to personal reasons.
“Fuck,” you huff, your head dropping down. “Great surprise.”
Charlie glances around. “It’s not that bad. We will find something else,” she smiles. You pick up a hint of panic in her voice, but ignore it. She probably feels bad now you’re plans are cancelled.
“Nah, let’s just go home. I still have some facemasks and it’s been way too long since we had a movie marathon,” you shrug and start stepping back towards the car. Charlie protests and attempts to stop you. The more she tries, the more suspicious you get. Until it dawns on you.
“Dean is planning something in the bunker, isn’t he?” The unconvincing ‘no’ Charlie utters, only serves as a confirmation. “We’re going back,” you say, voice full of determination. The redhead doesn’t try to stop you this time, she knows it’s pointless, and drives the both of you back home in no time.
The moment you step into the bunker, you know it was a mistake to leave. A burnt smell invades your senses, your eyes stinging with the smoke hanging thick in the air. Without a second thought you rush towards the kitchen from where the fire alarm was blaring through the bunker.
“No, Jody, you don’t understand,” Dean shouts into his phone, screaming over the fire alarm. You follow his aggravated voice and silently watch as he paces back on forth, phone in one hand, the other swinging around a towel trying to get rid of the smoke which is pretty hard without any windows. “Either you made me set the timer or the temperature wrong because that cake is burned. Black flakes all over, no way to save it. Oh, and did I mention the freakin’ fire alarm is making me deaf? Sam can’t figure out how to turn it off and he’s the smart one!”
Even over the alarm you can hear Jody scold Dean for taking this out on her. Dean mumbles a sorry in return, repeating the word louder as the woman on the line asks ‘what’. It’s not until the alarm stops blaring and the older Winchester hangs up the phone, that he notices you.
“Uh-Hi, sweetheart,” Dean grimaces as he shuffles to stand in front of his disaster. “You’re home early.”
“What were you doing, babe?” you deadpan.
Before he can answer with ‘nothing’, you give him a stern look. “I tried to make you a birthday cake, but it kind of didn’t work out,” he confesses, his lips forming a disappointed pout.
“Babe,” you smile as you step closer to him. “I already know you can’t cook or bake, but I do appreciate the thought.” With those words you wrap your arms around his waist and lean up to kiss his pout away. “At least you didn’t set the bunker on fire.”
Dean laughs at your words and shakes his head. “It was pretty close though,” he murmers against your lips. “I do have some leftover cake batter.”
“Not burned?” you wink.
“Not burned,” he reassures you. You quickly switch your boyfriend for the mixing bowl and a spatula, licking away the dough.
“Way better than any cake,” you smile between licks and scoop some more onto the plastic kitchen utensil.
“Well, if you like it so much, you can lick my spatula any day,” Dean smirks as he traps you between his body and the counter, kissing away a drop of cake batter dangling from your lips. You have a feeling there will be another birthday surprise waiting for you later tonight.

Is This How It’s Ending?~~ My First Multi-Chapter Fanfic Ever~~ A My Chemical Romance Fanfic~~ Frank Iero X OC~~
Okay, so I thought I would share something with yall. It’s my very first fanfic that wasn’t a oneshot and guess what, it’s still not finished lolol. Oh well, it wasn't all that great so I wasn't surprised when there wasn't an uproar to finish it lolol. Anyways it’s just a zombie apocalypse story with a high school setting and special guests My Chemical Romance! Lolol it’s kinda crack but I was like 16 when I started writing this lolol
This wasn't happening. It wasn’t! This had to be a nightmare, a bad fucking dream. "Run! C’mon you guys! Run!" I yelled to my friends and family running behind me. ‘They can’t fucking hear me.’ I thought. I couldn't even hear myself over all the gunshots and screams. I looked back for a split second, praying to all gods above and below, that I see everyone I cared about still behind me, and tripped. I collided with the floor, knees first, causing me to scrape both of them really bad. "Fuck!” I yelled, looking down at the mess that was my jeans knees and my own. Oh, shit!"
When I looked up, I saw one of the monsters, ‘They’re fucking zombies! Say it! They’re really fucking zombies!!!’ one of the zombies was coming right for me. The only thing I could see was its teeth. I imagined them ripping me up, tearing my skin from my bones in a single bite. All I could see was my blood splattered everywhere; on the zombie, on me, my clothes soaked in it, puddles forming around me. This was it. This was how my life, my world, was ending…..
(((***)))
It started off like just an average day in Idalou Texas. Cars were honking, hookers were walking, ice heads were knocking on the dealers doors, dying to get another hit. I sat up in my bed and stretched, yawning loudly. ‘That’s why I stopped dealing ice.’ I thought to myself, with a small grin on my face and sleep in my eyes. ‘These fuckers are up before Jesus and the Mexicans.’ I stood up and stretched again, hearing a sound I was so used to, it’s like fucking air: my parents were fighting. They were my alarm clock, every fucking morning at 6:00 a.m., I would here the spectacular show of Jonathan and Molly trying to oust scream each other. I also haven’t called them ‘Mom’ or ‘Dad’ in two years.
I lit a cigarette and heard something I have never heard before; objects being thrown. ‘This little spat is getting worse.’ I said aloud. ‘I’m surprised I haven’t heard fucking gunshots.’ I laughed nervously to myself, and then stopped. Images of my parents shooting each other in a fucking gunfight began to run through my mind and it kind of freaked me out. Especially since I dipped the cigarette I lit in a small baggie of coke before I fired life into it.
I shook my head and put out my smoke, before walking to my small locker like closet to get dressed. I heard Molly yell from her room all the way on the other side of the house, “Roxy Von Diaz! You better not be fucking smoking in my fucking house!"
"Mind your own business, Molly. Get back to shout-fucking Jonathan!" I yelled back. She started yelling at Jonathan about how I get that shit from him. Yep, we’re a big happy family. Madea ain’t got shit on us. I got a The Bunny the Bear shirt, my marijuana print bandana, a pair of black skinny jeans and my favorite pair of Gorillaz Converse high tops.
I turned to my iHome and pressed play. Music began to blare out of my speakers and I proceeded with my morning. I turned on my straightener and undressed. Throwing my jams onto my bed, I went and turned on the stick of incense that was sitting in a small metal dragon I got for Christmas years ago. I then proceeded to light four more sticks all around my room and reached for my pile of clothes. I learned a long time ago to dress fast if you want more time to yourself in the morning.
After I was dressed I proceeded to where my straighter was waiting and did my hair; straightening, styling hairspray and more went into getting me ready for the day. After my hair was to my liking, I wrapped the marijuana bandana around my head, grabbed my mirror and make up bag, and plopped back onto my bed.
I turned to the side and knocked on the wall, where the small door leading into a small hiding spot opened. It was a small hiding spot I had found the first week I moved to this idiotic town. I then realized when I found it, that I found it for a reason and would use it to the fullest. I pulled a pink Phillies tube from the hiding place and opened it. Pulling the blunt from the tube, I stood up and started doing my makeup. I always loved how my make up comes out when I do it stoned.
I held the blunt in between my lips and popped open my purple eyeliner. I laid out a thick line and inhaled the blunt. I finished appliying gracious amounts of eyeliner and returned its head. I took the blunt and ashed it in the seashell ashtray right next to my bed. I returned the blunt to its rightful place, and took out some black eye shadow. After my mighty feat was over, I put the blunt out, stuck it back in the Phillies tube, and put the tube in my pocket.
It was now showing six thirty on my alarm clock, and smiled triumphantly. ‘I am such a fast bitch.’ I thought to myself and proceeded to grab my jacket and get my brother and sister ready for school. My sister Lia is a year younger than me and Mark is four years younger than me. They hated the fighting as much as I did, but I only hadn’t left because of my family, Lia and Mark.
I walked into my sister’s room and jumped on her bed. “Lia, it’s time for school. Get up, get dressed and tell me what you want on your breakfast bootyhole.” My sister threw a pillow at me and let out a great big fart.
“You know what I want bitch.” She replied as she rolled over in her bed as I fought to suppress my laughter.
“I got ya, sister.”
“Thanks, DooDoo.” I closed her door and walked to the other side of the house were Mark’s room is located. I opened the door and saw my brother on his Xbox. I called out to him but didn’t get a response from him. After trying and failing five times, I looked around the general vicinity I was in for something to throw at him.
I found on his desk a pile of pennies, perfectly stacked. I smiled and scooped them up into my hand and chunked the pennies at him and watched them shower down upon my brother’s head and T.V.
“What the fuck?!” He yelled into his headset. He turned around and saw me standing in his doorway, my arms crossed and a smirk on my face. “Oh, it’s just you Von. Why are you standing in my doorway? I was in the middle of a serious deathmatch.” My brother and his fucking games, I swear to god he’s going to want to be buried with that thing.
“You better hope Jonathan and Molly don’t hear you use those words. There would be even more yelling around here.” I walked up to my brother’s huge game chair, and leaned back on it, causing it to fall over backwards. My brother gave me an annoyed look and picked the chair back up.
“Roxy, you think I give a shit about what my parents here me saying? I heard most of it from them, anyway.” I sighed and looked at my watch, seeing it was only six fifty. “Anyways, what’s up big sister?”
“I just wanted to know what kind of burrito you wanted.” He sat back in his chair and put his headsets on.
“Whatever you’re getting, please.” He returned to his friends and I walked out his room. I stayed at his door and him talking to his friends. “Huh? Oh, that was just my sister. No, Roxy. A dub? For when? Friday? Yea, alright, I’ll talk to her before then, just remind me ok?” I shook my head, thinking about how I was dealing weed to my brother’s friends over his Xbox live account.
I walked from his door and into the kitchen, seeing Jonathan and Molly taking a break from their usual life to make some coffee that Jonathan stole from an important factory he helped clean yesterday in Lubbock. I used both hands to flip both of them off, and continued to the front door, where I walked out, giving a great big sneeze as I stepped into the cold winter air.
‘Shit,’ I thought as I tightened my jacket around my small form as I walked to the sidewalk. ‘Most likely Jonathan and Molly got their flu shots, so they’re probably taking Lia and Mark today after school.’ I took off down the street, toward a little restaurant I always get my munchies from.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw my best friend in the whole world, Luis finish up a drug deal, and make his way towards me.
"Hey slut. Wait up." Luis yelled after me and I stopped, pulling the Phillies tube out of my back pocket. I had it successfully lit by the time he caught up with me. “Ooooh girl, you better let me hit that after you.” I smiled and handed the blunt to Luis, giving a wave to a passing cop. The cop then busted a bitch and headed back towards us. He pulled up behind us, and I went to meet him halfway.
“Officer Lucas, good morning.” I pulled my hand out of my pocket and shook his, placing a fat dub into his hand.
“Roxy, how are you this morning.” He then placed his hand into his own pocket, releasing the bag of weed, and replacing it on the steering wheel.
“Not too bad, sir, heading off for a little breakfast before school. You know how it is.” I extended my hand.
“Oh, yes I sure do.” He took his hand out of his pocket and shook my hand, slipping me a twenty dollar bill. “You have a good one Roxy Von.”
“You too, Officer Lucas.” He drove away and Luis gave him a small wave. I met back up with Luis and took the blunt from him. “You want breakfast, I’m buying?”
“Hell yea, bitch!” Luis gave me a hug and I laughed, as we continued walking to Dixie Dog. Once we got there, I went and ordered three sausage, egg and cheese burritos and one potato and cheese burrito. We walked to the small patio area on the right side of the building and sat and smoked a cigarette.
“Oh, some of my customers want some of that green.” Luis told me, as he handed me a small stack of pieces of scrap paper.
“Oh, really? Why’s that? Your supply not up to stuff?” I grinned at Luis and he grinned back. Luis was too smart for his own good. He cooked his own supply of crystal meth and dealt it to the meth heads that reside here. We have a friendly competition going on against his meth and my weed.
We started it two years ago and for all of those two years, we had been at fifty percent even. Our drugs created harmony. After I picked up my burritos, Luis and I headed back to the house. “So, I heard a little commotion when I was in the alley. Jonathan and Molly were fighting, yea, but there was another noise. Where they throwing shit?”
“I guess they are now. That shit surprised me earlier to. Today is just weird.” Luis hit the blunt and got really excited about something, and choked. He coughed for about five minutes, with me rubbing his back for three, before he finally talked.
“We’re getting new students.” I scoffed to myself and looked at Luis in disbelief. “Five of them, all the way up from New Jersey.” I laughed because he said it like Nu Joisy.
“Who the hell would want to move to this wack town?” Luis shrugged his shoulders and passed me back the blunt.
“I don’t know jefita. All I know is that they’re coming here today.” I sighed and put out the blunt, roaching it and walked into my house.
“Luis, can you get Mark and Lia while I fill these orders right quick?” I asked him as soon as we got to the kitchen.
“Sure,” He headed to Lia’s room first and I headed to my room. I closed my door, and went over to my bed. I pulled a huge sack of weed from my hiding spot, and proceeded to fill these orders. ‘Ok,’ I thought. ‘A dime for Marcus, a dub for Craig and a QP for Danielle, damn Danielle needs to ease up on my product.’ I exhaled softly and walked to the living room, where Lia, Luis and Mark were waiting for me. I smiled at them and nodded, signaling them that we were ready to go.
“Shotgun!” Lia and Luis shouted together as they ran out the door, followed by a chuckling Mark. I followed them outside and closed the locked door behind me. If only I had checked the news that morning, if only I had just turned on the fucking T.V., I’d probably would’ve been more prepared for what I saw that day. ~~~~~~

Adventure Time
It is almost exactly a year ago, something really extraordinary happened. I had been working in a bar for nearly two years, after I graduated from University. At this point I’d been living in London for over 5 years, and I had always been incredibly in love with this city. However, last year, I hit the cold and familiar brick wall; the honeymoon period was over. So I quit my job, lived on my savings and was thinking long and hard of what to do next. I needed an adventure. Fast-forwarding 5 months, I left my keys with a cute guy I’d found on the Internet. I was to sublet my room, because I was sure I was going to come back. I just didn’t know when. My plan? Vague and barely a plan at all. First step was to go to Norway. This is where I was born and grew up, and I wanted to connect with old friends. I picked up my old Toyota at my parents’ house, put the camera in the bag, and drove around for a month. There were uncontrollable laughter, the birth of my niece and good old Viking-drunkenness. It also consisted of sunrise-jams, hiking in the mountains, and bathing in far too cold fjord-water. After nearly three weeks of constant rain, I was glad to leave for England again. Second step: Avoid London. One thing I find about London, is that once you live here, you rarely leave this place. Everything is so conveniently happening here. I decided that I would travel to places I hadn’t been before, and that involved going to places like Kent and Oxford. I ventured into some fields in the middle of nowhere, to a family festival, even if I don’t like children. But it was okay, at least it wasn’t raining. And people were happy. I like photographing people who are happy. On the opposite side of London, I ended up walking the streets of Oxford, with a personal guide. She speaks impeccable English, by the way. We had picnic by the “river”, cheered with wine glasses to passer-byers in boats, and watched guided tours led by deprived students. We also had a pint of ale in the historic ‘Turf Tavern’, although I didn’t down mine very quick, and neither did I see a ghost. I took inspiration from Lewis Carroll’s ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and decided to fall into a whole new world too. Although mine involved a long plane journey across the pond, to the big and scary America. Third step: California and Burning Man. I spent the next three months, travelling on my own around California. I didn’t know anyone and I had as little as £1,200 in my bank account. The part of me that wanted an adventure, wanted it unambiguously to be a challenging one. In fact, I wanted it to be such a difficult and nearly impossible journey, that I would set myself up for failure. I wanted to cry, to feel hopeless, frustrated and push myself to the brink of giving up. Typically, none of it happened. For three months I never slept in a hotel or a hostel – I didn’t even couch surf. I also never went hungry, I never felt scared and I never called desperately home to my parents, asking to be saved. To sum up these three months in one paragraph, is nearly impossible. It wouldn’t give it justice. So I will try to make this short, and maybe cheat a little. 3.1: Burning Man I slept 8 nights in a tent, in the middle of the desert in Nevada. I shared this experience with about 70.000 other people, but specifically I also shared it with a camp consisting of around 60 people. I’d only met one person there twice before. I was the only Norwegian, in fact, the only European person in the San Francisco/Los Angeles crew, called the “Janky Barge”. For over a week, I photographed complete strangers, and captured a sense of happiness I never before thought existed. Burning Man does something to you. It does something to people. Being a photographer at this place, is like some sort of heaven. Best described: Christmas Day + birth of a child + winning at life = Burning Man. It’s an ocean of creativity, freedom, beauty and pure joy.  And the dust makes everyone look incredibly sexy too. I left this place with new discoveries about myself and the world, inspiration, new set of friends and a half-shaved head. And fortunately, a bunch of incredibly, awesome pictures.
3.2: Los Angeles One of my neighbours at Burning Man was a lovely woman, that went by the name of Cinthia. She invited me to come to stay with her in Los Angeles for a bit. Little did I know that I ended up staying there for a month. I always thought I would be more of a San Francisco gal than a LA-chick, but I guess I was terribly wrong. Cinthia owns a hair salon up in the Valley, and has this cute little 1-bedroom apartment 10 minutes away. It was here I ended up falling in love again. Not with a guy, or with Los Angeles, but with people, music, art and life itself. All of a sudden, I was photographing actors and models surrounded by hair-stylists, make-up artists and assistants. Professionally I gained invaluable experience, and personally I learned to really appreciate, listen and love more. 3.3: Californian “Rednecks” James was another neighbour from my camp at Burning Man. He has this little cabin up in the woods by a creek, a 45-minute drive from everything, north of Los Angeles. I got to spend 2 weeks in this cabin, together with his dog, Roxy. He was travelling back and forth to Europe at this point, so it was a sweet deal. He got a dog-sitter, I got free food and lots of time to myself. This place consists of maybe 30 cabins, and mostly the people there are above the age of fifty, with the exception of a few unfortunate teenagers. Not surprisingly though, they had a little bar up there, open 4 days a week. I found myself sitting there a fair amount, not because of my thirst for beer, but because mostly I was just talking to the people there. The dogs were running around freely, and Roxy was enjoying herself. I was too. The people here were of a peculiar kind, with so many different backgrounds, and truthfully, I never thought I would sit in a place where everyone agrees with Trump. It was an experience. One of the guys, was an old, quiet man, with red cheeks and a caps on. His name was Walle, and he would drink his 6 beers, none less and no more than that, and go home. One day, a woman’s voice came on, singing this beautiful song from the jukebox. “Oh!” Walle muffled. “I haven’t seen that girl since she was 10 years old!” Curiously, I asked him who the girl was. “Oh, it’s Rosanne Cash, naturally! Johnny Cash’s daughter.” I replied with a big question mark on my face. “Hum-hum. I used to live next door to them many, many years ago. It was during all that bad shit. Some days we would just sit on the porch and play guitar together. We were neighbours for three years, before he moved. I thought it was for the best though, because that new girl he’d met, she was pretty good for him. Tried helping him with all that drug-abuse and stuff. He was a good guy though, in spite of everything.” I recently discovered that Cash was nearly killed in a fire in 1965, that he later was sued for by the government. He claimed it was his camper that caught fire, although it is more likely he started a fire to stay warm and in his drugged condition failed to notice the fire getting out of control. It destroyed 508 acres.” Guess which forest it was? The very same I spent two weeks in – Los Padres National Forest. I do wonder, if Walle knows. 3.4: The mountains and the end If I haven’t lost you yet, I promise you, I am nearly finished with my story. Burning Man seems to have been the best thing I could have done, in more ways than one. The best reason, was that I got a whole bunch of phone numbers and email-addresses. I met Luke one day out on my first day of exploration alone in the desert, and we exchanged exactly that. When I was still in Los Angeles, I received an email from him. He said that he and a bunch of friends were going up north in the mountains. He followed with a simple “Want to join?” So it was there I found myself, on a bus, leaving LA for three weeks out in the free. With the exception of Luke, that I’d talked to for about an hour, I was to meet 16 people that I’d never met before, and spend almost 24/7 with them out in the wilderness, camping in tents. In all honesty, this it was the most perfect ending to my trip, and I couldn’t have asked for a better one. I heard some unbelievable, extraordinary stories from these wonderful human-beings. One of the guys, had come up from Peru, where he normally works as a tour-guide in Machu Picchu. Hearing his stories, about nearly dying in the jungle, about being drugged by a tribe-leader and freaking out, and about the interesting journey from how he got there in the first place, was some of the highlights. They were all outdoorsy people, and some of them are now doing these incredible and dangerous trips, climbing mountains in the states. I learned a lot of things on this journey. But I also realised a great deal, including this: that I really love nature. And that I in fact love sleeping in a sleeping-bag, surrounded by simple things in a tent. Things that I only need for survival. That I love waking up early to the sounds of rain trickling above my head, the wind howling, and a grasshopper as a roommate. And that it’s something incredibly rewarding of spending that amount of time away from civilisation. Away from the sounds of cars, noise and busyness. Away from schedules, sweaty armpits that comes with overfilled underground trains and the stench of chicken take-away shops. Away from mirrors, make-up and Tinder dates. Nevertheless, it had to end. And it was good timing. Trump had just won the presidential election, and in all honesty – I was not surprised. With the Brexit happening earlier the Summer, I was almost expecting something like this. I spent the following month in London, trying to adjust back to normal. I got the keys back to my room, and filled my shelves again with all the stuff I owned. Only this time, with less things. I have been trying to write down everything I have experienced, everything I have learned, and everything I feel. I still haven’t been able to adjust back to “normal”. But maybe that’s the whole point. It’s now like London is an ex-boyfriend I am not entirely sure how to get rid of, but still love. I’ve had a Summer-fling with adventures, that left me with inspiration, motivation and the feeling of being alive.
And I think that is exactly what I needed.
So here I am.

WASHINGTON — Undeterred by curfews, protesters streamed back into the nation’s streets Tuesday, hours after President Donald Trump pressed governors to put down the violence set off by George Floyd’s death and demanded that New York call up the National Guard to stop the “lowlifes and losers.”
But most protests passed peacefully, and while there were scattered reports of looting in New York City, the country appeared calmer by late Tuesday than it did a day earlier, when violence swept through multiple cities.
The president, meanwhile, amplified his hard-line calls from Monday, when he threatened to send in the military to restore order if governors didn’t do it.
“NYC, CALL UP THE NATIONAL GUARD,” he tweeted. “The lowlifes and losers are ripping you apart. Act fast!”
One day after a crackdown on peaceful protesters near the White House, thousands of demonstrators massed a block away from the presidential mansion, facing law enforcement personnel standing behind a black chain-link fence. The fence was put up overnight to block access to Lafayette Park, just across the street from the White House.
“Last night pushed me way over the edge,” said Jessica DeMaio, 40, of Washington, who attended a Floyd protest Tuesday for the first time. “Being here is better than being at home feeling helpless.”
The crowd remained in place after the city’s 7 p.m. curfew passed, defying warnings that the response from law enforcement could be even more forceful. But the protest lacked the tension of the previous nights’ demonstrations. The crowd Tuesday was peaceful, even polite. At one point, the crowd booed when a protester climbed a light post and took down a street sign. A chant went up: “Peaceful protest!”
On Monday, law enforcement officers on foot and horseback aggressively drove protesters away from Lafayette Park, clearing the way for President Donald Trump to do a photo op at nearby St. John’s Church. On Tuesday, pastors at the church prayed with demonstrators and handed out water bottles.
Protests ranged across the U.S., including in Los Angeles, Miami, St. Paul, Minnesota, Columbia, South Carolina, and Houston, where the police chief talked to peaceful demonstrators, vowing reforms.
“God as my witness, change is coming,” Art Acevedo said. “And we’re going to do it the right way.”
In New York, midtown Manhattan was pocked with battered storefronts after Monday’s protests. Macy’s flagship store was among those hit when crowds of people smashed windows and looted stores as they swept through the area. Police made nearly 700 arrests and Mayor Bill de Blasio extended an 8 p.m. curfew all week.
“We’re going to have a tough few days,” he warned, but added: “We’re going to beat it back.” He pleaded with community leaders to step forward and “create peace.”
Thousands of protesters marched Tuesday night in a string of demonstrations across Manhattan and Brooklyn after merchants boarded up their businesses, fearing a repeat of the night before. Many people remained on the streets after the curfew hour. Police eventually ordered them to move along and began taking some into custody.
More than 20,000 National Guard members have been called up in 29 states to deal with the violence. New York is not among them, and de Blasio has said he does not want the Guard. On Tuesday, Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo called what happened in the city “a disgrace.”
“The NYPD and the mayor did not do their job last night,” Cuomo said at a briefing in Albany.
He said the mayor underestimated the problem, and the nation’s largest police force was not deployed in sufficient numbers, though the city had said it doubled the usual police presence.
Tuesday marked the eighth straight night of the protests, which began in Minneapolis, where Floyd died, and quickly spread across the country.
The mother of George Floyd’s 6-year-old daughter, Gianna, said she wanted the world to know that her little girl lost a good father.
“I want everybody to know that this is what those officers took,” Roxie Washington said during a Minneapolis news conference with her young daughter at her side. “I want justice for him because he was good. No matter what anybody thinks, he was good.”
On Monday, scattered violence flared in multiple protests, including an officer who was shot and gravely wounded outside a Las Vegas hotel and casino, and four officers shot in St. Louis. They were expected to recover.
About a dozen other deaths have been reported around the country over the past week. And nearly 8,000 people nationwide have been arrested, according to a count by The Associated Press.
Some protesters framed the burgeoning movement as a necessity after a string of killings by police.
“It feels like it’s just been an endless cascade of hashtags of black people dying, and it feels like nothing’s really being done by our political leaders to actually enact real change,” said Christine Ohenzuwa, 19, who attended a peaceful protest at the Minnesota state Capitol in St. Paul. “There’s always going to be a breaking point. I think right now, we’re seeing the breaking point around the country.”
“I live in this state. It’s really painful to see what’s going on, but it’s also really important to understand that it’s connected to a system of racial violence,” she said.
Meanwhile, governors and mayors, Republicans and Democrats alike, rejected Trump’s threat to send in the military, with some saying troops would be unnecessary and others questioning whether the government has such authority and warning that such a step would be dangerous.
“Denver is not Little Rock in 1957, and Donald Trump is not President Eisenhower. This is a time for healing, for bringing people together, and the best way to protect civil rights is to move away from escalating violence,” Colorado Gov. Jared Polis and Denver Mayor Michael Hancock, both Democrats, said in a statement, referring to Eisenhower’s use of troops to enforce school desegregation in the South.
A senior White House official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that the president is not rushing to send in the military and that his goal was to pressure governors to deploy more National Guard members.
Such use of the military would mark a stunning federal intervention rarely seen in modern American history.
Amid the protests, nine states and the District of Columbia held presidential primaries that tested the nation’s ability to run elections while balancing a pandemic and sweeping social unrest. Joe Biden won hundreds more delegates and was on the cusp of formally securing the Democratic presidential nomination.
Also Tuesday, Minnesota opened an investigation into whether the Minneapolis Police Department has a pattern of discrimination against minorities. Floyd died May 25 after a white Minneapolis officer, Derek Chauvin, pressed his knee on the handcuffed black man’s neck for several minutes.
Chauvin has been charged with murder. Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison said prosecutors are working as fast as they can to determine if the three other officers at the scene should be charged too. All four have been fired.
