thinking about how canonically the pevensie siblings are 13, 12, 10, and 8 in "the lion, the witch, and the wardrobe"
thinking about how lucy needed a stool to be able to get up onto her throne, how peter's sword is a little too large for him, how susan's bow is a little too difficult for her to pull back, how edmund's shield nearly covers his entire body.
thinking about the pevensie siblings and their first few months in narnia, getting to know their new people, and half the narnians sitting there horrified because WHAT have these literal babies been through to give them such traumatized, old eyes, and the other half of the narnians are preparing to adopt them, no it doesn't matter that they're the rules, they're children who are being put in charge of too many things, and if peter looks at the old man council long enough he's going to cry, so someone needs to give him paternal support while aslan is off doing Lion Jesus Stuff™️ and whoops oreius is being nice and encouraging and now he's adopted his kings and queens they're his kids now he doesn't make the rules.
just the narnians and the pevensies being thrown into it together, and just as the pevensies will do anything to protect their new kingdom, the narnians will do anything to protect their rules, because let's be honest, these children have no sense of self-preservation, and are far too overprotective of each other and their people to take into account their own safety, so a lot of battles it's just one of the pevensie siblings running headfirst into danger with oreius running after them because his kids are feral and don't know proper royalty manners and won't threatening old kings from different countries because they're being assholes and the last time one of them tried undermining the queens susan called him a self-righteous asshole and lucy tried to stab him SOMEONE help him corral his children please

Do you guys ever think about how they never stood a chance:) How their stories were doomed from the start:) How their lives were orchestrated and put together by a person who manipulated them all the time:) How their fall was inevitable and planned:) How Asajj was probably some sort of a test on Dooku's and Sidious's parts to see a Jedi fall to the Dark Side:) How they foil each other so well because Asajj had nothing when she fell and Anakin almost had everything:) I do like all the time it's pretty miserable

14 / 38 / 48 for the Florence asks! ✨
Oooh, thank you so much! I will answer one here and do the other(s) in separate posts c: This gave me a push to finally finish fleshing out an idea that's been sitting for over a year, so double thank you for that! 💗
(Florence + the Machine Writing Prompts)
Hold Me Down
Summary: In the aftermath of Here Lies the Abyss, Cullen finds the Inquisitor alone at the edge of the camp.
(Elowen Lavellan/Cullen | 1,206 Words | CW: Blood, descriptions of shock/panic attack)
“Hold me down, I'm so tired now Aim your arrow at the sky Take me down, I'm too tired now Leave me where I lie.” —Florence + the Machine, “Sky Full of Song”
“—foremost priority should be seeking out and destroying any remaining demons who might have escaped the battle,” Cullen was saying to a scout as they walked, “take a group and scour the fortress for any signs, and then relay the information to Commander Rylen. He’s kept a troop in reserve for cleanup duty.”
“Yes, Commander,” the scout said, peeling off. Cullen paused as he saw an odd shape tucked between two tents and a stack of crates.
He knew the shape of that staff.
“Inquisitor?” he called, peering over the stack of crates. The shape shifted, turned slightly, and lifted its head.
Behind the cowl, her face was still spattered with blood; it was almost enough to obscure the pale lines of her vallaslin entirely, and what the blood didn’t smear was peppered with ash and dust. Her hands were set on her lap, just as filthy as her face, half-curled and limp. And her eyes…
“Lavellan?” he said, and she blinked, blood-clogged eyelashes sticking for a moment to her cheek. Her eyes did not come into focus.
Ah—he’d seen this before.
Cullen sidestepped the crates and crouched several inches away, leaving her room on the other side to get away from him if necessary.
“Can you hear me, Inquisitor?” he murmured quietly, and her bitten lips cracked open.
“I am fine.”
“That isn’t what I asked,” he said quietly, glancing over his shoulder when he heard movement in the camp. Just a pair of sentries wandering past. He returned his attention to the Inquisitor, whose attention remained fixed somewhere over Cullen’s left shoulder.
“Can you hear me?” he asked. “Do you know what I am saying?”
There was a long pause. He noted the rapid rise and fall of her chest, the way her blood-soaked hands trembled in her lap.
“...yes,” she said at last, her voice faint and flat.
“What do you hear?”
A soft gasp and her hands twitched in her lap.
“You.”
“And what else?”
She was still breathing too quickly. Cullen eased himself down until he was kneeling between her and the rest of the camp. If nothing else, he could shield her from their speculation. A meager enough offering, but it was one he would give her without hesitation.
“The…the tents in the wind.”
“And?”
“Metal on stone. People talking.”
“Good. What do you see?”
A frown collected between her brows and she slowly glanced at him to frown. That was good, too.
“Sand. Tents. The stars.”
“And?”
“Why?”
“Answer the question.”
She sighed, but her breath had slowed slightly.
“The crates. My…my hands,” her voice shook on the last word. “You.”
“Alright,” he paused, “Are you with me?”
“Yes, I…yes,” she moved to set her face in her hands and flinched when she saw them clearly. “I—it was…The Fade was…”
“We needn’t discuss it,” Cullen murmured, shifting onto his knees to tug the tail end of his cloak loose. “You don’t have to say anything now. May I see your hand?”
Lavellan extended one hand silently and Cullen pulled the cork from his waterskin to wet the crimson fabric of his cloak. He could not properly clean her skin here; he hadn’t carried soap with him, and the cloth of the cloak was not especially absorbent. Maker, he was covered in his fair share of grime after the battle. Even so, he could get the worst of the blood off. He knew all too well what it meant to have to deal with such aftereffects of a fight.
To be confronted with the concrete proof of what had happened.
Her hands shook in his grip, and they were cold even through the barrier of leather. Cullen pressed his lips together, trying to decide if he ought to offer his gloves. Would she take them from him? He could not guess either way.
“Is that any better?” he asked when he was done. Lavellan took her hand from him and peered at it in the flickering torchlight of the camp, curling and uncurling her fingers.
“Yes, I—thank you,” she said. She lifted the other hand slightly and froze with it there, hung halfway into the air. Cullen carefully reached out to take it, selecting a different section of fabric to clean the skin with.
Someone ought to be helping her properly. Someone needed to make sure she found a bath, food, somewhere soft to lay her head. After all he had seen of her, all he knew she had done, Cullen knew better than to think she was fragile. Even so—it tugged at him, to see her so shattered now.
“It had so many legs,” she whispered hoarsely after a moment. “Too many. I—I couldn’t—I should have—”
Her voice broke at the end, and when the Commander glanced at her he saw that tears had begun to clear some of the muck from her cheeks in clear, straight lines. They dripped from her cheeks black and red-brown, leaving tiny, damp circles on her coat.
“You’re here now,” he told her, holding her hand for a moment longer than necessary once it was clean. “You aren’t there anymore. It is done.”
“I let him die,” she said quietly, searching his eyes. “I—I told him to stay behind. It’s my fault. And the Divine—it’s my fault, Commander. All of it is.”
Cullen waited for her to continue, but she didn’t go on. She bit her lip again, staring at him. Ah—but what could he say to her now? There was nothing to be done about one’s past mistakes. He knew better than most what it meant to live with regret at one’s back. What to say? All he had was the words he gave his own soldiers when they’d made a mistake, and the words seemed ill-fitting here.
“Whatever has happened,” he told her, “I’ve no doubt that you made the best decision you could with the resources available to you.”
Lavellan withdrew her hand. Cullen let it go without protest.
“I…” slowly, the Inquisitor pulled her cowl down and away from her face. She ran her hands over the relatively clean plait beneath. “Thank you.”
It was recognition, but a dismissal as well. Not “thank you for thinking so,” but “please go away.”
Cullen tucked the soiled end of the cloak away and stood, careful not to move too close.
“If there is anything you need, Inquisitor,” he said softly. “Please—do not hesitate to ask.”
Lavellan inclined her head, but she’d turned away to stare out at the vastness of the dunes and stars beyond. Cullen exhaled slowly and moved to step around the crates. He halted when she spoke again.
“Cullen?” Elowen said; not Commander, for once, but his name. He turned to look at her and found her eyes, full of tears but clear and focused on his. “Thank you. Really.”
“Of course,” he said, and cleared his throat. “It was…my honor.”
Her eyes slipped away again, but her hands were clasped softly in her lap. Cullen straightened, gathered himself, and strode back into the camp beyond.

about to beat the game with this character so figured it was about time i shared her. estrel, golden order scion and D's apprentice/adoptive daughter. more about her under the cut because. oh boy this girl's got lore.
one day D came by the Bestial Sanctum to collect his incantations paycheck and gurranq just. had a kid. and he was like "...fuck it, i could use some backup anyway" and the rest is history
current working theory is that she came up from the deep siofra well? but this is all a big question mark.
D is the one who gave her the name estrel, to reflect her new surface life as a hunter of death (and because i fucking love elden ring's thing with characters having multiple names). uldin is her original name, but sees very little use nowadays
she's a golden order fundamentalist but she'll also employ bestial (of course) and dragon cult, erdtree and two fingers incantations, and also some misc. sorceries when the need arises. no fire or black flame until after farum azula, and no dragon communion/bloodflame/etc ever.
she wasn't actually that interested in lordship at first, until it became clear that pursuing it was the only way to change the state of the world and permanently free those who live in death. for most of the game her goal is just to weed deathroot
...well, until D dies. then she's out for revenge. she does kill fia; it doesn't feel as good as she'd hoped, but at least she's dead.
she also lands herself in ranni's entourage, but isn't aware at the time of her role in the night of black knives. when she does find out, she leaves ranni's service for a while
the whole game is kind of a crisis of conscience for her, honestly. it takes fia's death, and seeing the death-prince in person, for her to finally determine that she will do whatever it takes to stand before the elden ring and fix what she's come to see as a deep sickness at the heart of the golden order—the rune of death being only mostly sealed, an age where none can truly die.
(those who live in death, tarnished reincarnation—it's all the same. souls are trapped in a twilight, becoming sickened by death without the release and return it should rightly bring. the sun needs to set on the golden prince, so that they may break through the night to a new dawn.)
other misc npc questlines: nepheli (childhood friends at the roundtable), rogier (tries to help him behind D's back, regrets it), sellen (aids her), corhyn and goldmask (eventually gets the mending rune of perfect order)

working on something lowkey and chill for llb currently and thought i’d share a lil snippet…. maybe someone will beat me to the fandom tag (please. i beg.)
It’s a relatively big thing to say for the moment. Things are the same, and they’re not. Jackie still takes the yoke out of her eggs, and they have blood on their hands. Lou still feels the indescribable weight of Jackie’s pulse on her body, and there’s more blood on their hands. Hours of scrubbing, a curious Happy Meal sniffing at the metallic odor, another rug as a makeshift coffin — and for what? Beth, yes, and her siblings. And then there’s a voice in the smallest parts of her body spelling out in a rumble, J-A-C-K-I-E.
pleaaaseeee share your thoughts with me on this movie i need little grains of characterization to be planted 🍻

Idk I haven’t played soj in a while but do u think like. rayfa has heard of klavier. Like, she knows of him or is vaguely aware of who he is. Klavier seems pretty internationally famous considering his collab w/ Borginians n Europop persona n stuff. Maybe he’s visited khura’in. Has capcom said that he hasn’t??? I doubt it. Imagine Rayfa has heard of him in passing or smth but doesn’t rly care but then hears that her stupid brother and stupid horn head (who is kinda also her brother? it’s complicated) knows this internationally famous guy and she like, sneaks online somehow and googles this guy and watches his shit and she… doesn’t hate it. Maybe she listens to another song. And another. And she’s already here so she might as well listen to the whole album and maybe the next one and
Anyway my point is rayfa should be a gavinners stan

(Between AU) given the premise of the au you do have a lot more room to focus on Bergen politics so Chef doing her coup would probably work really well— she tries to bring back Trollstice, Branch and Gristle shut it down, she tries to overthrow them on the “it’s the only way to be happy” platform (which would probably garner popular support). That would make Creek’s betrayal him allying himself with what he thinks will be the winning faction… maybe Bridget would be able to help the trolls and Gristle + Branch?
TRUE!!!
My main issue with this is that one thing I want to avoid is downsizing or underselling Poppy's role in things. Her belief in the good of the world and others is a critical component to the story, and not something that can be put forth by any other character. Figuring out how and where she and Branch interact in the movie is the main stumbling point, because they do need to have more than one or two interactions over the course of things. So while I do want to get more into Bergen politics, I don't want doing so to push Poppy out.

I like how the normie consensus about the Kenobi show is that it "fixes" Obi-Wan lying to Luke about his father being dead at Vader's hand as opposed to being Vader himself because "oh Vader told him that and he really believed it" (I don't think this ever needed to be fixed, personally), when from my perspective it makes Ben look like more of a dick because it suggests that he was perfectly capable of killing Darth Vader in the in-between trilogies period and just...didn't for no clear or discernible reason. And in fact pushed off the responsibility onto Vader's own son. Which makes him MORE of a dick.
Look, I can forgive Mustafar. Anakin had just turned, it was an emotional time, and Obi-Wan was not unreasonable to assume nobody could survive that. But a second shot that you walk away from?
They could have made the final fight a little less of an obvious win, or given Obi-Wan a clear and urgent reason to run away before finishing the job (like one of the twins in danger) but instead he just completely overpowers and curbstomps Vader, then dicks off and leaves his former apprentice/murder robot a wheezing mess. If Obi-Wan really does think Vader "killed" Anakin, then he's a shitty Jedi, fullstop. You can have him not be able to let go of Anakin and therefore not have it in him to kill, OR he's completely accepted Vader is just a Sith and a menace and he has to kill. You don't get it both ways.
I enjoyed the dramatic angst of the confrontation as much as the next person, but I am also forced to concede that the entire OT depends on the fact of Luke (and, failing him, Leia) are the only people capable of defeating Vader and the Emperor. The movies just...kind of fundamentally don't work if there's another option, since Yoda and Obi-Wan literally say "there is no other option." This is the Skywalker show.
(In this house we ignore the ST because it's garbage, but I digress)
So what I'm saying is the show is, like most everything in the Disney era, a superfluous and canon-breaking fanfic I'm perfectly capable of enjoying for what it is while fully recognizing it contradicts what the films it's spun off from gave us in the first place.
TL;DR Ben Kenobi never left Tatooine between Ep3 and 4 and that's what I'm sticking with.

like, i started romantic killer and i was at first like "eh. this is trying too hard to be ouran high school host club" but i started to warm up to it in the second episode and really fell in love with it by the third, so like. *highly* recommend. it really hits all my demisexual feels, and my opinion toward the burgeoning love triangle is "both. both is good."
