On a bit of a rewatch and finding very interesting how Aziraphale reacts to being shushed.

When it is Gabriel, he completely ignores him and keeps talking.

When it is Crowley, he immediately complies.

Earlier that day he wouldn't have dreamed of ignoring Gabriel. With Crowley however the dynamic is different, comfortable, like this is not the first time Crowley shushes him and he is fine with it, completely old married couple vibes.

Yes, I know, nothing really new here but I like seeing them side by side.

At the airbase

There are four explicit threats and (I would argue) one additional implicit threat happening at the Tadfield airbase. Anyone wishing to argue that any character at the airbase is "useless" or "contributes nothing" needs to reckon with all of them.

Nuclear annihilation. Forestalled by Newt and Anathema.

The Four HorseChopperPeople of the Apocalypse, who don't need mere nuclear annihilation to wreak havoc. Three of the four get taken out by Pepper, Brian, and Wensleydale, with an assist from Dog and moral support from Adam. The fourth ChopperPerson bows out.

The war between Heaven and Hell. Why does everyone forget that Aziraphale and Crowley deal with this one? (Admittedly, with a slight assist from Adam's blank intransigence.) It's their Great Plan/Ineffable Plan hairsplitting that sends the Ineffable Bureaucracy back to their respective corners.

Satan, handled by Adam with an assist from Crowley and Aziraphale.

Arguably, the possibility that someone, most likely Aziraphale, murders Adam. I can't imagine that Satan would have been pleased, and without Adam and his reality-rewriting power Crowley is absolutely right -- they're fucked. Madame Tracy ultimately scotches this threat, and in my head it's what Aziraphale is thinking about when he makes that crack about his and Crowley's competence afterwards.

It's a remarkably well-balanced, carefully-crafted situation. Even Shadwell, basically useless though he is, has a role as owner of the Thundergun and audience for Tracy.

Aziracrow AU where angelic/demonic agents on earth can't really spot one another because of the mortal bodies (unless they catch each other actively doing miracles) (so basically like the angels not spotting that Bildad was Crowley but it's a rampant issue), and Aziraphale and Crowley do not recognize one another as "enemy agents" for a ridiculously long amount of time.

It's just that, a lot of humans look alike when you're watching them across the generations, and angels and demons are all kind of face blind. When you've come up in a place where self-expression can manifest as three head heads or a spinning wheel full of eyes or thousands of swarming insects in the approximate shape of a being, things like "slightly different sizes of nose" barely even register as variations.

So Aziraphale and Crowley meet at various points throughout history but they just mistake one another for interesting humans. If they look like humans they've met before, that's not even uncommon. That's practically how humans work! They make more and then they die and then their children and grandchildren grow up and, often, don't really look all that different from their ancestors. Even if they do, give it a couple generations and great-great-grandma's genes might just reassert themselves again.

They both think they've been carrying torches for this particular lineage of very helpful and endearing humans, who always seem to conveniently disappear right when the issue of never aging might become a problem, only to turn up in their lives again a few generations later. They're both really relieved this lineage has managed to survive the flood and several other plagues and massacres, despite being close proximity to a lot of dangerous events. Crowley's almost inclined to give the idea of reincarnation a bit more credence, even though it's not on the official books, meanwhile Aziraphale sometimes finds himself requesting to go through the pearly gates admissions files just to see if he can make sure that some version of Crowley or another went Up instead of Down (they never agree to release the documents to him though, probably for the best, what could he even do if...?)

How many ivans could one alfred bench press🤔🤔🤔 this is how my friend and I measure it😂😂

well. i don't have a concrete weight for my ivan. but given how tall he is and the body type i see him as, i can somewhat base his weight off of figures such as olivier richters - who is 7'2/218 cm and 309-331 lb/140-150 kg. my alfred can 100% bench at least one ivan, idc what anyone else says.

but given that - if canon is your thing - we've seen alfred easily drag both a car and a shipping container...he can probably bench several of the cast in one go.

in the car's case: it's england's and it looks like a luxury car, which helps narrow it down. given its hood ornament, headlights, spare tire placement, grille, and the fact that it's england, the implication is that of a rolls royce. i'm not going to overanalyze it too hard - it's most likely a phantom i or phantom ii sedan (four doors) from 1930-1932. i'll go with the 1931 phantom ii dover sedan because i'm gross and biased. i can't find a curb weight for the phantom ii specifically, but similar competitor cars of the era weighed anywhere from 4500-5500 lbs (~2000-2500 kg). we can probably assume the phantom ii dover probably weighed around 5000 lb. and he's pulling it like a maniac by its front bumper at a walking pace. and you know his is probably fast because he probably takes big steps.

in the shipping container's case: your average 20 ft shipping container has a tare (empty) weight of ~4500 lb (2050 kg). we see in the comic strip that it has some amount of cargo, so its gross weight is probably quite a bit higher. keep in mind that the max payload for a 20 ft shipping container is 30,480 kg (67,200 lb). so that's a huge range he can have. it's hard to tell how fast he's dragging it in the manga strip, but given how we usually treat this man, and his smug expression, it's probably fairly easy.

either way, even if you just leave super strength at "he can lift a car," even your everyday toyota corolla weighs at minimum 1 1/2 tons. he can easily bench a singular ivan.
