What are movie stars without costumes? From the 1920s to the 1960s, René Hubert belonged to the the crème de la crème of costume designers. His trademarks were opulence and glamor and a distinct flair for colors and lines. As a young man, the trained embroidery draftsman left his native St. Gallen for Paris. The emigrant's courage was soon rewarded: In Hollywood, Hubert dressed film stars such as Ingrid Bergman, Marlene Dietrich and Gloria Swanson. His international reputation helped him to win commissions in his native Switzerland, most notably for the Swiss National Exhibition in 1939, for Swissair uniforms and aircraft interiors, and for various theaters and textile companies.
This richly illustrated publication compiles sketches, costume photography, stage photos and film stills of Hubert’s work. Experts from both sides of the Atlantic reflect on his multifaceted oeuvre at his numerous workplaces in Switzerland, Europe and the US. Excerpts from René Hubert’s unpublished memoirs provide a personal view of his life and the glamor of the era.

DIRTY MONEY from Sinan Sevinç on Vimeo.
Have you ever thought about what kind of journey a dollar bill makes before landing inside your wallet? In an age of COVID-19 with an intense scrutiny on hygiene, no one seems perturbed about handing another person cash. While the world went into lockdown and screamed at each other to keep their distance inside Walmart, cash still made its rounds from hand to hand, from pocket to pocket, from one insanitary surface to another. DIRTY MONEY tells the story of a freshly printed ten-dollar-bill emerging from an ATM and follow its gradual unhygienic demise through the disgusting scenarios it encounters while changing its owner multiple times. But isn’t there a more hygienic solution to rescue Hamilton’s handsome face from mutilation? There certainly is.

Giornale di scienze computazionali
Volume 71, luglio 2023, 102061
Grue Believer Celebration Shenanigans continues with this review of Countess Dracula (1971), selected by special guest host and Decades of Horror fan Gregory Crosby. In this episode, the Grue Crew tackles another Hammer film from the Seventies featuring the stunning and talented Ingrid Pitt in the title role. While the film has no fangs and has little to do with Dracula, it borrows heavily from the legends of Countess Bathory who is said to have bathed in the blood of virgins to restore her youth. Countess Dracula is far more serious and mature than many of Hammer’s offerings throughout the decade and is well worth a revisit. Check out the Grue-Crew discussion to discover why.
At the time of this writing, Countess Dracula is available to stream from Classic Horror Movie Channel, Wicked Horror TV Channel, Shudder, AMC+, and Tubi. The film is available on physical media in Blu-ray format from Synapse Films.
Gruesome Magazine’s Decades of Horror 1970s is part of the Decades of Horror two-week rotation with The Classic Era and the 1980s. In two weeks, the next episode, chosen by guest host Dirk Rogers, will be Trog (1970). Directed by Freddie Francis; produced by Herman Cohen; written by Aben Kandel; starring Joan Crawford & Michael Gough; and with dinosaur scenes by Willis H. O’Brien and Ray Harryhausen? It’s gotta be great, right? Right?
We want to hear from you – the coolest, grooviest fans: comment on the site or email the Decades of Horror 1970s podcast hosts at [email protected].

Do you have a list of all the specifically German musicals bootlegs/proshots with English subtitles?
I do not, but I can make one right now! (And I assume by German you mean German-language and not Germany, so this includes musicals performed in Germany, Austria and Switzerland).
There's multiple versions for some musicals and if you want my personal correction of which to watch, based on the quality of the video, accuracy of the subtitles, and overall cast and design, I've put a 💙 emoji next to them.

All non-English language musicals that are on Youtube, those with or without subs, I collect in this playlist here and update regularly: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLLBkeZOvj5B8bSgfsMiGBnF_OnmqTbDdW
I also have playlists for some individual musicals that contain clips, trailers, interviews and other videos that aren't full productions.
