[News + Video] jolle neu bei 365XX!
Tumblr media
youtube

CVL - 'Strange Clay' Exhibition - SD
Last year, I attended the exhibition 'Strange Clay' which documented contemporary ceramics artists' work. Some of the work worked with the concept of reappropriating or revisiting everyday objects and relationships with them. The works of Lui Jianhua and Beate Kuhn worked with ceramic versions of everyday objects and changed their everyday presentation of them. Jianhua presented them on a wall in order to give them agency, overwhelming the audience with their presence and making the audience look at them as if they would with a fine art painting etc. Beate Khun combines the ceramic objects into a mass, attempting to explore the interconnections between everyday objects - a snapshot of their daily uses in one sculpture. These artists' practices provide inspiration for my concrete work moulding the insides of children's toys as it reappropriates the usage of these objects and the perceptions that surround them.

🍂🍃 What I find interesting about the character of Pocahontas, is the number of animators who animated her in the movie. Other than Glen Keane, who was the supervising animator, Pocahontas’s other chief animators were Mark Henn, Tom Bancroft, Aaron Blaise, Randy Haycock, Pres Romanillos, John Ripa, Brad Kuha, and Doug Krohn among several others.

Synopsis: Master Splinter stands holding one of Raphael's sai at Casey's father's throat. Splinter asks Raphael if he wants him to execute the man, if that would give him peace. Casey's father begs for his life. Raphael hesitates to answer, pausing to realize how out-of-control with anger he was. Splinter tells him that it is a surmountable obstacle, and that he too used to suffer from an incredibly short temper. Splinter tells Raphael how hot-headed he was in his youth, and how it was only through the guidance of his master, the love of his wife, and the trust of his sons that helped him get over it. Splinter stresses the importance of always seeking peaceful resolution to conflicts, and only using violence as a last resort. Raphael says he understands, but also that he knows if he doesn't do something Casey's dad will keep beating Casey, possibly until it kills him. Splinter agrees and the two decide it is time to do something.
On Burnow Island, Baxter Stockman is getting brought up to speed by General Krang. Krang tells him that he is an Utrom and the others in cryo-stasis are the last of his race. Krang explains that he comes from alternate dimension, Dimension X. Krang tells Stockman about his planet's destruction, and shows him the portal they used to travel to earth to make it their new home. Stockman asks how Krang's homeworld was destroyed. Krang tells him how once Planet Utrominon was the most powerful in the galaxy, ruled by the Utrom High Council. Krang's father Quannin was the supreme leader, and Krang the second-in-commamnd. Through overreaching attempts to expand his empire, Quannin brought about his own defeat, and with it the destruction of nearly his entire race. Before Krang can explain further, two Neutrino Resistance Fighters come through the portal (using signal jammers to block it from being shut down) and attack Krang. The two NRF soldiers are disposed off. Stockman asks why Krang has brought him here. Krang shows him: the Technodrome. Back at the antique shop, the others tend to Casey and try to cheer him up. They tell Casey he should've told them about this a long time ago, and that he doesn't have to stay with his dad and keep getting beaten.
At Casey's house, Splinter asks Raphael if they should execute the man and end Casey's troubles. Raphael says no, because it really wouldn't solve anything, just make things worse. Splinter tells him he's right, and to go gather Casey's things, as he will be living with them now. They arrive back at the antique shop and Splinter calls a family meeting. Casey says he and April will leave to give them some privacy but Splinter tells them to stay, as they are family. Splinter tells them why he has always taught them that life is sacred, and killing should always be last resort. He goes on to say that in their current conflict with Oroku Saki, now called the Shredder, violence is their only option. To ensure their family's peace and safety, as well as to prevent any further innocent bloodshed, they must kill the Shredder.
At Foot Clan headquarters, Oroku Saki is telling Karai about Hamato Yoshi (Splinter, in his former life) and his four sons. Before ordering them all executed, Saki had the chance to watch them all interact and train together. The oldest boy, even at so young an age, displayed all the attributes of a true warrior. Karai asks why she mentions him. Saki tells her it is because that boy has not changed in his new life, and he wants her to bring him that boy – Leonardo, leader of the ninja turtles – to be made into his second-in-command.

..just some more SJHS story telling...
Hey Mac, good to hear from you enclosed is my response to Peter Hendrix letter I pretty much take the blame myself but they definitely overdid it
Sent from my iPhone
Begin forwarded message:
From: Jake Farrell <[email protected]> Date: September 24, 2022 at 8:37:47 AM EDT To: Bill Walczak <[email protected]> Subject: Memories
Thank you Peter for the memories, I remember you as an energetic happy guy I’m sure you’re an ass kicking lawyer. I was whacked about by a lot of them but knew I deserved it and never held a grudge. I think a lot of my beatings were paybacks, One particular time, because Halpin like to sit and teach, I decided to throw his chair out the window, I was halfway through my task when he walked in -nature took over as I told him someone was trying to throw your chair out the window I’m getting it back….But one particular educators’ beatings made an impression on my life. Mr. Moran, after an altercation would never let it go by one more period, he would pull me out of my next class and apologize in the hall. I took that with me the rest of my life and every time I screwed up I apologized immediatelyIn response to John Kuhn and Jeff Reich on Tarrys Tavern, Prince’s Bay Staten Island- We went to a college preparatory high school nothing prepared me for college or life than the smoke filled room of that beautiful dive bar. It was a privilege to be there. Old men dying to share their wisdom, cause no one else would listen. Local Italian and Jewish girls that just wanted some attention. It was Disneyland for one who loved Kerouac , Hemingway and Hunter S.We drank Ballantine Ale in 7 oz bottles, and yes slow gin fizz. Ballantine was a Indian Pale Ale. The young beer snobs of today think they invented IPA. The Boones farm was to help your throat after smoking that horrible Mexican weed.I remember when we would go to concerts in The City we would try to up our game and drink Matus.I hope these memories will stir up more of our fellow alumni‘s who might think this reunion is a dick measuring contest. We’re fucking 68 years old nobody gives a shit what your life story is , come and enjoy your classmates and feel young again for a weekend. Cheers, Jake Farrell

Lizabeth Scott, Barbara Stanwyck, and Van Heflin in The Strange Love of Martha Ivers (Lewis Milestone, 1946) Cast: Barbara Stanwyck, Van Heflin, Kirk Douglas, Lizabeth Scott, Judith Anderson, Roman Bohnen, Darryl Hickman, Janis Wilson, Ann Doran, Frank Orth, James Flavin, Mickey Kuhn, Charles D. Brown. Screenplay: Robert Rossen, John Patrick. Cinematography: Victor Milner. Art direction: Hans Dreier, John Meehan. Film editing: Archie Marshek. Music: Miklós Rózsa. The Strange Love of Martha Ivers doubles up on Lorenz Hart's line about "the double-crossing of a pair of heels" to give us a quartet of duplicity. There are no really good guys in the movie, though it tries to persuade us that tough guy Sam Masterson (Van Heflin) and lost girl Toni Marachek (Lizabeth Scott) are more to be admired than ruthless Martha Ivers O'Neil (Barbara Stanwyck) and her weakling alcoholic husband, Walter (Kirk Douglas). After all, teenage Martha (Janis Wilson)  did kill her imperious aunt (Judith Anderson) and, with the connivance of young Walter (Mickey Kuhn) and his father (Roman Bohnen), not only cover up the murder but also frame someone else for the job. So when Sam returns to Iverstown after 18 years, Martha and Walter naturally think that he witnessed the murder and is there to blackmail them. Actually, young Sam (Darryl Hickman) beat it out the door before the aunt was conked on the head and fell downstairs, so he's ignorant -- until well into the film -- of their crime. It's not exactly clear why Sam, who makes a living by gambling, has drifted back in town, but he's not there long before he hooks up with Toni, fresh out of prison for a theft she didn't really commit, and the two of them get dragged unwittingly into the machinations of Martha and Walter. The movie was Douglas's film debut, so he receives fourth billing after Scott. He feels a little miscast as the manipulated Walter. For one thing, he was nine years younger than Stanwyck, but he also had, even then, a stronger hold on the screen than Heflin. This is, I think, a movie that doesn't have the courage of its own nastiness, trying to make us think that Sam and Toni really deserve a happy ending when it's more likely that they will eat each other alive. Trivia note: The sailor in the car with Sam when he has his accident is played by future writer-producer-director Blake Edwards.
