Ok so I have been stewing this crossover au in my brain nonstop for the past few days and. I am nothing if not committed to the bit, so. Volume cover redraws :)

So the idea is simple! Crossover reincarnation au where ASL is reborn in Spy x Family. They’re each born separately and none of them are born with the same names as their previous lives, and with no way of finding each other, they each find their own thing to do in the world.

Sabo, too used to the dangers of being a spy, eventually finds a cause to devote himself to again, in preventing war from engulfing the country he was reborn in. Ace, drawn to fire as he was in his previous life, used arson as a means to rob rich people for sustenance and survival, and is eventually scouted and hired by Garden as a fire specialist and assassin. And Luffy, though born in perhaps the poorest condition, grows up happily and takes whatever part time jobs he wants to do.

The thing about Sabo is that, as much as he seems like a young man of good repute and high standing within society, everyone in WISE knows that he is a massive nuisance. Nobody knew in the beginning how a child less than half the age of most of their veteran agents could have the same skills and knowledge in their profession. Sabo was— and still is— hyper competent, and by the time WISE figured out just how much of a menace to society he was, it was too late.

Ace forgot for the first few years of his new life that he wasn’t made of fire, and consequently, received multiple accidental burns. This did not deter him, however, from growing up to be a very skilled arsonist, well-practiced in every which way to start a dumpster fire or house fire. As a teenage he would use this often to draw attention as he robbed rich people blind. When he was caught, he was given an ultimatum by Garden: join them and receive payment for starting fires and causing problems under contract, or face the government and authorities for his crimes. Begrudgingly, he joined Garden, but eventually comes to appreciate that he can make substantial money in his element.

Luffy is Luffy. No telepathy or experimentation, no fancy schools, no gimmicks or secret identities. But he has still lived an extremely colorful life in this world, full of fascinating and kind individuals who have helped him grow up healthy and relatively happy. He goes where he is free, and he takes whatever part time jobs he wants in order to make the minimum he needs to survive.

Ace and Sabo find each other first, in their late teens, and neither of them realize that the other remembers their previous life, but both refuse to separate. (Sabo thinks Ace doesn’t remember, because Ace didn’t recognize him. Ace never saw Sabo grow up past 10, however, so he doesn’t recognize older Sabo immediately. By the time he does realize who exactly Sabo is, Sabo has backtracked and pretends to know Ace from a dream, or from somewhere else.)

Sabo’s attachment to Ace, predictably, causes problems between Sabo and WISE, but by then, Sabo is indispensable to the organization, and they make an exception for Sabo to be able to remain with Ace, so long as Ace never finds out what Sabo’s actual job is. Ace, on the other hand, hides his job because he doesn’t want his brother, who he has just found and who does not know Ace well enough yet, to know that he makes a living from killing people.

And they find Luffy sometime afterwards, prior to the beginning of the Spy x Family canon. Luffy figures out, not long after moving in with his brothers, both of his brothers’ secret occupations and the fact that both of them remember their past memories. He thinks it is common knowledge, however, and so he never brings it up.

*Prince Julian Wheeler was the first born to King Andy and Queen Nica, with the boy being loved by many throughout the kingdom ever since his birth had been announced. In fact, he was a miracle child, as Queen Nica had gotten sick shortly before he was born. However, she was given a magical healing flower In the form of a stew for her to drink, which saved her life as well as Julian's. But sadly, only a few nights after the prince was born, he was taken away by a mysterious elderly man In the middle of the night and was gone just like that. And since then, the king and queen, as well as the rest of the kingdom, would light lanterns and release them Into the night sky every year on his birthday, hoping that one day, their lost prince would come home*

*It remained this way for the next eighteen years as the prince grew older, with the elderly man keeping him locked away In a far off tower, his hair growing long as It was found out to be the secret to keeping the man young. All It took was a simple song and the boy's hair would grow a bright gold and would not only keep the man young, but could heal any wound he could possibly have. Julian spent most of his days alone as the man he thought was his father, named Charles, would be gone almost the whole day as Julian filled the tower's walls with multiple paintings and sketches as well as did many other tasks throughout his day, such as cooking, cleaning, reading, sewing, and even brushing his extremely long and curly hair to keep him occupied. He did this every day, pretty much like a daily routine, one that he would often find himself getting bored over as Charles had feared him away from ever leaving the tower, saying that the outside world was a dark and dangerous place filled to the brim with horrible and scary people that wanted to harm him*

*So, the prince remained In the tower all day and every day, just taking care of his daily tasks until his so-called father decided to return from whatever expedition he decided to go on for the day. But Julian was particularly excited since his eighteenth birthday was coming up In a couple of days and he was ready to Inform his father on the matter as he painted over a new spot he found In the tower alongside his pet chameleon and only friend, Lydia*

I just had a weird thought about your Gilded Family AU.

So, when everything is over -Belos is dead, The Collector returns to the stars, everyone begins to rebuild their lives- at least some of the Grims' are probably going to want to settle down. Get their own places, find partners, have a couple of kids, etc and so forth.

The Boiling Isles will never be the same... on a genetic level. Hear me out here. All 27 Grimwalkers are genetically identical to Caleb. So genetics-wise, there are 28 Caleb's - Not 1 Caleb and 27 of his sons, not 1 Caleb and 27 younger brothers (Both examples are still closely related, but at least there would be some genetic differences between Caleb, his Grims and the Grims to each other), but Caleb and 27 identical twins of his.

So, 28 Caleb's. Well, actually, we can probably count Caleb himself out. In between Achsah successfully having had a family in the past (Of which at least one branch of the family tree has survived into the present day), viewing the Grims as his sons and him plus Evelyn having effectively adopted four displaced children... I highly doubt he wants anymore kids, lol.

So, 27 Caleb's then. Now granted, it's unlikely that all of the Grims will want partners, let alone children. But some of them will, that's just statistics for ya! Which means that the next generation of witchlings is going to have... A fair number of half siblings amongst it's ranks. They'll all have the same "father" on a genetic level because well, all of their Dad's are genetically the same person.

How will this impact witchkind? Well... Caleb will be VERY well genetically represented in the future. Like, too genetically represented. The Gilded Family are probably going to have to stage family reunions every few years just to remind themselves how many people are related to them now. Lol.

At least the percentage of blondes in the Isles should go way up after a few generations?

CALEB HAS NOW BECOME AN INVASIVE SPECIES

Okay, feel free to correct my DNA/biology facts because it's been a while, but since there are differences in appearances among Grimwalkers (and features that distinguish them from Caleb as well, like the magenta eyes), and there are resources from other species making them up that may not have all been taken from the same creature for every grimwalker, I'm going to say that they're not EXACT copies of Caleb, so they're not exact genetic matches to each other, you know? It really is more like being siblings than being "the same guy." So they'd be cousins, not half brothers.

That being said, the idea of a couple of generations down a pretty big chunk of the BI population having magenta eyes or otherwise being able to claim grimwalker ancestry is pretty funny. Some people are just now impervious to boiling rain. Magicless witches are more common because of all the human blood running around. And there are way too many blondes.
