not my bose headphones falling apart 😭 they had a good run i think i have had them for like 8 years at this point, they broke once but got repaired for free even though the warranty was already expired which was very nice of them.... considering what my next pair should be... i don't like how the new bose headphones can only switch between noise cancelling and their aware mode like what if i just want it off. you don't always need noise cancelling at home. also don't like how no current headphones use batteries that you can easily replace anymore but that's how times are i guess

Hello,

My headphones recently broke. They are Bose QC-45. The right side makes a scratching sound (inside the headphones) constantly when they are turned on. It started suddenly.

It gets less when treble is reduced in the connected app, but doesn't go away. And treble reducer affects music which I use to cope and stim.

I have only had Bose QC-45 since Christmas. So they have not lasted very long.

I have Bose QC-35 as backup, using now. But they don't block noise as well, and not as comfortable.

I have had Bose QC-35 for a lot longer, they have lasted better time.

I need high level of noise cancelling to cope with any environment (even quiet bedroom, can't take off because constant house noises like electricity, water running, people footsteps and voices, my own breathing).

Most of time, I can't go into other parts of the house even with headphones. I immediately cannot cope because severe sensory issues.

Anyone have suggestions for good headphones that last long time with high level of noise cancelling?

"No no no no no... Seb!" Maddie gasps as she rushes out of her room, making Chris' head snap up from the book he's reading.

"He's not here. Maddie, what's wrong?" he asks, a worried frown spreading across his face as he tosses his book to the side and goes over to her.

"I... I um... I" she stammers, looking at him with panic all over her face.

"Mads, take a breath" he tells her, gently rubbing her upper arms as she takes gaspy breaths, trying to calm herself.

"That's it" he whispers, copying her breathing as it slowly begins evening out to long, deep inhales and exhales.

"What happened?" he asks, still worried. He’s never seen her panicked like this before.

"I... st stood on them... br broken" she tells him, her hands shaking as much as her voice as she holds up her headphones, one of the ear caps dangling by a single cable.

"It's OK" he says softly, taking them from her and setting them on the counter.

"Need them" she whispers as tears start to well in her eyes.

Her headphones a safety blanket, one she's not been without since Seb gave them to her almost a year ago.

"Maddie, it's ok, you're ok. Accidents happen. We'll get you a new pair" Chris says quietly, gently wiping away the tears that have slipped out of her eyes.

"New pair" she mumbles as she nods, a tiny smile spreading across her face before snuggling into his chest, letting out a content hum as he starts rubbing her back.

After a few minutes he slowly guides her over to the couch and gets her settled, covering her with her favourite blanket before getting comfortable beside her.

"Do you want to look some now?" he asks, motioning to his laptop on the coffee table.

"Yes please" she whispers with a nod. He can’t help but smile as he leans forwards and gets his laptop. She’s always so polite, even with the littlest of things.

“Do you remember what model they are?” he asks her as he pulls up the Bose website. She nods and carefully scans the page before pointing to a pair.

“I like the blue ones” she says quietly, snugging into his side.

“Blue it is” he says, adding them to the cart, followed by a black pair for himself before checking out.

“How much?” she asks, looking up at him. He smiles and shakes his head.

“My treat” he tells her as he sets his laptop on the couch next to him.

"Thank you" she whispers, closing her eyes and letting out a quiet sigh.

"You're welcome beautiful" he says, kissing the top of her head.

I have to take five rest breaks a day at the moment for boring chronic illness reasons and in the afternoon I can curl up in a patch of sun in my bedroom for my little cat-naps because it catches the sun in the late afternoon. It has a lovely view of the bins in the yard but there is something extremely delightful about chasing a little patch of warm sunlight for a little rest. When I am not quite so sick I find it near impossible to nap, so this last year or so has been quite the napping adventure for me.

🎧 Headphones or earbuds?

HEADPHONES. I recently had to give in and get some wireless earbuds after I got an emergency call from work when I was out with no headphones and I had to try and talk someone through a spreadsheet on a train (bad experience, do not recommend) so now I'm like: here is an emergency pair of earbuds that fit in my bag. But I got some Bose Quiet Comfort headphones a few years ago and they revolutionised my commuting and travelling life and I will never go back (even though I work remotely now so the need is not so strong).

☕ Coffee or tea?

BOTH. Coffee first thing in the morning, a couple of cups just to let the world settle, then it's mostly tea. I switched back to Yorkshire tea today after a few months of having to use up Other Brands That Were In My Cupboard and I literally had to call my mum to tell her that THE TEA IS GOOD AGAIN. However I ALSO got some jaffa cake black tea from Aldi a few weeks ago and that is delicious. Still mourning the discontinuation of Twining's lapsang tea, which you can't get fucking anywhere anymore, in any brand, and is one of my favourite things to drink. (this was not in the question but I like to whine about it). My kingdom for a box of lapsang.

1. how many playlists have you made?

too many. I make new playlists for different things and different feelings. I have three shower playlists cleverly titled "shower 1.0, shower 2.0 and shoewr 3.0" and others called "Legenda, Turn the world off and listen, songs that make me feel sexy, the everything bagel, k bangers, its a cafe summer, midday vibes, mellow vibes, travel vibes, the new old, hidden gems" and more. There's a lot, but spotify says 51

2. do you have one playlist with all your music on it? if you do — how many songs are on it?

yes and no, because i make playlists for this based on what im listening to at the time. I dont listen to everything all the time. the closest i have is probably my 'summer bopz' playlist with 550 songs. It's over 24 hours long.

but that's nothing compared to my partner, he has a playlist thats 1591 songs long. It's about a week straight of playtime. Like 186 hours?? (I had to ask him)

15. are you a shuffler or listen in order?

both. usually shuffle, but if I'm in the mood for a specific order I'm used to then in order.

16. what kind of headphones do you prefer?

bose ones. they're my partners and i steal them. but they're grey and hella good. I asked again and he said theyre the quiet comfort ones. I dont own headphones (cuz i steal his, he has more than one kind)

a quick google search reveals that kendalls headphones from s2 onwards was a wireless pair of beyerdynamic amirons (not noise cancelling, also overpriced garbage apparently) but in s1 he was wearing a pair of bose quiet comfort IIs (actually good, noise cancelling also). this post doesnt mean anything i just wanted to know whether or not the prop actually meant anything, and the answer is probably not but i still believe that kendalls autism hobby is being an audiophile
