Sort of in response to the anon with the stranger things fandom blog:
I run a moderately big blog in a relatively small fandom, and I don't keep it a secret I'm Christian (though I keep it on the low-down that I'm conservative), and people are usually chill about it. But there was this huge controversy a couple months ago that another Christian blogger accidentally started involving pride stuff and suddenly I had loads of hysterical people in my inbox demanding I spell out every belief I had in case I was a 'bigot' because 'people are getting killed'??? I got a bunch of threats as well.
The worst part of it was the whole flood of posts mocking conservatives and Christians and their beliefs in the fandom tags, and things like "this character says these people suck!" (more rudely then that obviously). A bunch of people (several of them friends) got driven away by it all, and I was so disgusted by the actions of people I had considered friends or at least friendly associates who had suddenly turned into this huge mob of hatred. And while things have calmed down I'm still dealing with the emotions from it and people act like it was no big deal.
And yet before all of that... we all coexisted together just fine. I don't get how the pride community that claims it's 'accepting to all' can just attack people like that, who never bothered them at all. It hurts and it's so stupid.
But yeah all that to say, I get it anon. It's so hard. I hope you never have to deal with half of what I've had to put up with.

The pride community is absolutely vicious, especially online. If they were really loving and accepting they wouldn’t have to spend so much time telling us that’s what they are because their behavior would show it. And what they’ve shown is they are the least loving and tolerant community out there.
They’re like the only community it’s not ok to offend in any capacity and act like it’s on par with a crime and will even take people to court if they get mad enough (like the Christian baker situation) so the idea that they are oppressed or marginalized is laughable. They are completely toxic and they can’t handle seeing anything that disagrees with them or doesn’t wholeheartedly support them in all their endeavors. It’s always interesting to see who claims oppression vs who isn’t afraid to speak out and isn’t attacked for doing so and those are often the same parties.
I’m sorry you had to deal with that. They should all be able to be more mature and able to understand that on the internet they might see things they don’t like sometimes and it’s not ok to attack people.
It can be nice to know you’re not the only one out there who feels like they have to keep silent for fear of being attacked by online mobs, though. So I’m sure the other anon will appreciate this.

Whenever I'm tempted by Christianity...
Part 1. The psychology
Every so often I'm tempted to return to the faith of my youth. The hymns, the beautiful liturgy, the imagery are all things I honestly miss.
But then I open a prayer book:
In your mercy
Forgive my manifold sins
Save me oh Lord
I have done evil in your sight
I am nothing without your steadfast mercy
Forgive me lest I am consumed by thy wrath
On and on it goes.
It tells me what a worthless, dirty and pitiful creature I am. How can any person become whole with such damaging psychology. It reminds me of how spousal abuse victims are indoctrinated. Repeating such garbage is like drinking poison.
No matter how loving and kind Christians portray their God I can't believe it. He's ruthless in the Bible and his salvation is based on our complete and utter failure in living up to the standard of being unthinking robots to his will. But he loves us?
Part 2. The Theology
In the beginning god created all that is and it was perfect. Then some angels didn't want to be ruled all the time and rebellion broke out in heaven. They in turn corrupted mankind by revealing good and evil?
So this god decided to curse humanity with death, hardship and strife. Along came some fallen angels and fell in love with mankind. They taught them culture, metallurgy, astrology etc. For this mankind was punished with a flood to whipe out everyone from existence.
Now, this god decided to save humanity by becoming a man and take all sin onto himself. You see, God's justice demands our destruction but there is nothing we can offer that is worthy enough as a sacrifice. So in the end god has to do it... to appease himself!?
Still, if we sin we land in hell anyway, unless we repent and crawl in the dust.
Conclusion
Human beings are worthless, undeserving worms and God would like nothing more then to destroy us. Yet, because he is merciful he decided to commit a divine suicide to appease himself.
In the end the infernal divines, the demons, did more for us than our supposed creator in Christian mythology. They taught us the difference between good and evil. They loved us, guided us and became our teachers.
God on the other hand would have liked nothing more then for us to have remained unquestioning, dumb marionettes. He punished us for every step towards sentience, maturity and self-reliance.
But I still miss the hymns, liturgy and imagery all the same...

Daniel loves Monaco.
He bloody loves driving here - the bumps, the thrill, the unforgiving walls, the low grip, the risk. He loves how it demanded complete mastery because there is no room for mistake at Monaco - you miss and you’re in the wall.
He’s had the highest of highs and the lowest of lows here. He doesn’t think anything will ever compare to winning here. The fucking elation, the sheer disbelief that he’d done it as he had nursed his car over the line, that feeling of invincibility as he’d stood on the halo of his car - yeah, he doesn’t think he’ll ever feel that way ever again.
You needed to be ballsy to win here, and at one time, he used to have the balls to get closer to the wall than most others dared. What was it that Vid had texted him before the race last year? You were once wild here. Don’t let them tame you.
Yeah right, he hadn’t only been tamed but he’d been beaten into submission, stripped raw to the bones. Monaco last year was when things pretty much went to shit. After that crash, he’d realised things were getting away from him and McLaren, they weren’t really interested in helping him out.
He's happy now, he repeats to himself. He doesn't stay up all night thinking about what he could have done differently anymore. He's made peace with all the what has beens and all the could have beens, but today standing at the back of the Red Bull garage, all the coping phrases his therapist has given him feel pretty meaningless.
Because as he watches the mechanics put the cars through the final checks, Max and Checo standing off to the side, race suit hanging off their waist, listening to whatever their engineers are saying, all he felt was jealousy.
That should have been him. That should have been him.
You shall not covet your neighbour's house, that's what he had learnt a long time ago in Sunday school. Yet he can feel the jealousy, the envy run hot through his veins, bubbling like lava, corroding his flesh away, leaving a pulsing gaping hole inside of him.
He misses that moment of clarity he used to get before a race, that brief moment just before the lights go out, when he is alone in the car and the constant noise in his mind would stop. He craves that rush, that high he can only ever get from racing. Like an addict in withdrawal, he's convinced that the trembling in his limbs would stop if he can just get in the car again. Maybe, maybe, if he can just get in the car one more time, he'll feel whole again.
He wishes he could turn back time. Go back to 2018, with Simon in his ear, coaching him as they picked cars apart one by one with the clinical precision of a sniper. He wants to be that Daniel again, the one who could come from a long way back and still make the move stick. He yearns for that feeling he used to get when he would make an overtake. He yearns to feed on the terror of the other drivers when they used to see him in their mirrors.
Daniel thinks that's how predators feel like when they sink their teeth into their prey and the warm blood gushes out - sustenance, breath of life, a necessity to survive. That hunger now made the muscles in his belly spasm, like if he doesn't feed it soon, the chasm inside of him will deepen.
The hand on his shoulder felt heavy. Christian.
That's another thing Daniel wishes could go back to how it was in the past, his relationship with Christian. Daniel doesn't know how he should feel towards him. He is grateful that Christian basically created this role for him, but he is also resentful of him. He hadn't been golden enough for Christian to fight for back then. Hadn’t been perfect enough. Hadn’t had what Max apparently had. Maybe if Christian had taken his side against Helmut, had fought for him to stay, he would never had left Red Bull and he would never had ended up at McLaren.
Daniel can sense the concern in Christian's gaze. Has he somehow let on about what he's been thinking? People rarely look beyond the smile, but if there is someone who knows him better than himself, it is Christian.
"We've had some bloody good races here, haven't we?" Christian looks back at Daniel, and the smile on his face is knowing, almost calculated.
Daniel licks his dry lips, almost tasting the metallic taste of blood. He looks on as the cars left the garage to line up on the grid.
Next time, it will be him in that car.
He turns back to Christian, his head tilted up as if to say I'm ready. He smiles, not his usual sunny smile but the one that Christian knows belongs to the Daniel who once punched a hole in the wall of his driver room.
"Yes, we have."

Rings of Power + Tolkien Fusion Meta
“Touching Darkness & Other Mormon Influences
Within the context of Sauron x Galadriel, the whole “touching the darkness” motif is very hot. However, it felt somewhat “off” as a main show theme. To be clear, it’s not bad thing in terms of storytelling for viewer experience. I like it. Just hmm 🧐
Here’s why: Tolkien may write a world where goodness can come from unexpected places, beauty can arise from tragedy, and people achieve great things to combat evil. Since his work is Catholic, he’d never create a world where evil things are necessary for life to change, grow, and thrive. In fact, few characters in lore “touch darkness” and return to the Light.
Case in point, Galadriel’s rejection of Sauron’s proposal. Canon demands it. While positioned as an act of empowerment, declaring him irredeemable actually reflects the darkness, the woundedness within her. She need not personally forgive Sauron. A Tolkien-esque redemption arc requires espousing “pity for the Devil”. To him, not even orcs are beyond forgiveness - should it be sought. To challenge this is to challenge Eru Illuvatar Himself (a Christian God).
Presumably, complicated grief diminished Galadriel’s empathy. It’s restoration, perhaps it’s already planned within her arc. RoP show runners claim they’re incorporating Tolkien’s themes, so we should see her pity Sauron, Adar, and orcs as part of her maturity. But I’m skeptical that show runners will as Tolkien would. We’ll see.

Naturally, a creative’s belief system and biases will influence their work. JD Payne confirms:
The gospel affects you as a person, and that affects everything you do….I feel it’s the same way with being a Mormon screenwriter [source]
In hardcore Mormonism, the Fall of Man had to occur in order for there to be mankind. Mortal life is a test for spirits, the God they believe created us was similarly tested, and so “touching the darkness” is necessary.
Some other notable Mormon-y influences points:
Elves as Mormon Church Elder-like. According to Ex-Mormon/Mormon Haladriels and subredditors: ritualistic disrobing ceremony of the Elf warriors on the ship to Valinor and instrumental music gives strong Mormon temple vibes.
Handcarts of the Harefoots part tells with pioneers are A Thing in Mormonism. Other cart types could’ve been chosen, just an observation.
White robes of the three (likely) Maiar sorceresses who appear to be members of Sauron’s RoP version of Melkorism
All the singing. Mormon founder Joseph Smith said the “the song of the righteous is a prayer unto me”. Thus, singing when Galadriel sails toward Valinor. Nori’s wandering song seemed akin to Tolkien’s wandering song. Disa singing is not a lore dwarf ritual but valid creativity in blank spaces.

Thanks so much for more updates on your OCs, love both their full length designs!! Also really enjoy the addition of these new characters; Luc’s beard jewellery, is such a nice detail! Now I’m wondering what orb pondering entails? Are they using the orbs to acquire some kind of knowledge, and how do you tune a legendary orb?? It’s fun that Svitak and Corvus can goof off together!! Are there other kinds of vampires than the water tolerant and heat sensitive ones?? If so what causes that? It’s like astrology with the type being influenced by the time/place of their birthday? Also I’d be so curious about how vampires are coming into existence in this context to begin with??
yeah my vampire rules of making vampires are based on how their weaknesses and strengths are balanced.

1. They're either 💧tolerant/ 🔥 sensitive. Or 🔥 tolerant / 💧 sensitive.
2. after a period of time they'll gain a tolerance of a limited food group within a carb or a protein. And based on that tolerance, it works as fuel that increases their cognition (carb) or strength (protein)
So Svitak can handle most fruits and Corvus can eat cured meats. But that's it and it can't become the majority of their diet, the blood is needed to even keep their body in good shape to handle foods.
3. There are vampire magics but not all are apt or interested in polishing them

5. The sleeping in the daytime thing is mostly out of convenience bc the sun is in fact Bad but they don't need sleep. this practice of daytime sleep fell out of favor when home internet happened.
6. to reiterate, bc they're immortal they work a little bit like reptiles, where a lot of their body systems are put into a low energy state, especially using their brains bc that's the most demanding organ. this explains a lot of vampiric quirks.
7. the identity of age is lost on vampires, so the concept of acting childish or like an adult just doesn't exist. So theyre all some individual mix of mature and childish interests depending on their surroundings and influences.
8. all vampires can drink alcohol.
9. christian iconography/ stakes/ garlic etc doesnt harm vampires. You kill them by dismembering or by preparing their funerary rites
And the orb pondering thing is like wizard puzzle time basically. Luc got a huge Expert Level orb that he and Gus ponder over so Luc can tune it to use for his wizardly purposes. like hacking.

I was going to play Mass Effect, but then thought - you know what? Let's do a quick primer on godparents in the UK, and what this actually means for qPhilza, qTubbo, Chayanne, Tallulah
First stop - qualifications here. I am British (English variety), and brought up bouncing between various Churches. My parents are both godparents, and I was heavily involved in the lives of some of their godchildren. I myself am also a godparent, though because of family drama haven't seen my goddaughter in over ten years. I do also have godparents (my parents were attending a Methodist Church at the time, where it is practiced), though I haven't spoken in a long while. The only one who really did her job was my Dad's cousin, who'd regularly send me things like collections of letters by old Christian scientists, knowing I was far more into science than religion, but would also keep her spare room empty for if I needed to escape my parents for a bit and ring me from time to time to chat about just general life even when she started getting really sick. While I would consider my upbringing more /Baptist/, I will be talking about it from an Anglican (Church of England) viewpoint, as the dominant Church and cultural influence. I will have forgotten something, I'm tired and sleepy and just rambling.
Second stop! Godparents within the Church of England (CoE). Godparents are a necessary part of a baby being baptised within the CoE. Every child needs at minimum three godparents - two of the same sex, one of the opposite - though four is also a common number, and more is permissible with the vicar's permission. Most common setup I've seen is one married couple, plus one usually younger person. All godparents must be baptised (some Churches demand baptised as an Anglican, others say any Church will do), some areas will require also confirmed (basically when as someone old enough to make choices about their life they commit themselves to Christianity in a special service). There is no minimum age requirement, though someone under 18 will usually have to be interviewed by the vicar to make sure they are emotionally capable and 'mature' enough. The primary duties of a godparent are, officially, to raise the child spiritually and to guide them in philosophical parts of life - things such as the meaning of death and concepts of love and what kindness means. A lot of it for devout Anglicans is doing Bible readings with them and making sure they attend Church, for less devout ones its like having a weird bonus aunt and uncle who is /supposed/ to consider you and your needs before your parents, but in practice is usually your parents closest friends. You're also supposed to be there for major life events, with some version of Anglican marriage ceremonies having special places for godparents. As an example.
It is notably a role you can refuse, but only up until the point of the baptism. Once you are a godparent, you're a godparent forever in the eyes of the Church. And historically, but legal status of godparents ceased a long time ago.
Third stop! Godparents in secular England. Godparents have no legal status in the UK at current (except sometimes as proof of a parent's intent). Without being involved in the Church as an infant its unusual to have one.
Socially... I personally was raised in the Church, so I'll never be able to see it from a truly secular perspective. My /understanding/ from books and stuff is that if someone mentions a godparent it is generally assumed that person plays an active role in their life, or at least a protective (if distant) one. Things like the fairy godmother in Cinderella who appears when their grandchild reaches crisis point to make everything better - its a trope you still see in a not insignificant number of books about teen protagonists by the sort of British authors I read as a kid, even if its just they appear with ice cream when the protagonist's crush rejects them. And I mean... Harry Potter is a trashfire and icky and bad and all that, but Harry and Sirius /is/ an example and the only one I suspect other people may have read. Also Harry and Lupin's kid, where Harry helps raise him after he's orphaned and his grandmother takes him in.
Fourth stop! Historical meanings. In the past, there was another role which godparents performed - if anything happened to the parents of a child, the child's godparents would become legally responsible for them. I can't remember how long ago this ceased being the case, but it is a thing which has echoes on modern understanding of godparents. Now a parent's preferred guardian for their children if they die or are incapacitated is usually handled via wills, but in ages past it was denoted by the selecting of a godparent. There is still /some/ echoes of this - in the case of a parent dying without specifying in their will, a child will go to the care of the next of kin. Godparents can, however, use their relationship as godparents to the child to make a case for guardianship as a 'proof of the parent's intent' (similar how a fiance can argue that they should be treated as a spouse, as there's evidence their partner intended to marry them).
A fun bonus one - the word 'gossip' in English is derived from 'godsibb' - a generic term for someone you had a relationship with via godparenting (your godparents, your godchildren, the birth parents of your godchild, the birth children of your godparents, etc). It developed into a word for a close (usually female) friend, and then into its current meaning over centuries.
So! Bringing all this around to QSMP. We can assume neither Chayanne nor Tallulah are baptised - like okay there's Cucurucho's Church but I don't really see it personally, especially with Phil's hatred of all things religious (which actually makes the phrasing of Tubbo being their godparent even more interesting, because it is pretty uncommon outside of religious families - not unheard of there is a cultural echo, but uncommon. Makes it a very intentional choice). We therefore have to look at other meanings and assumptions. Which, is to say, naming Tubbo as his children's godfather (and Niki as their godmother iirc) as... Well the Island doesn't have a system of lawyers and wills and legalese, so this is all Philza has to determine what happens to his kids if something happens to him. Maybe it won't be recognised by the Federation, but its the one non-legalese cultural touchstone he has to fall back on to make his opinion known. And more than that, it's very much a mark of trust even while Philza is alive and present. It's Philza saying 'if anything happens to me and Missa, I want you to be the one to raise my children'. It's him saying 'I want you to have an active part in the lives of my children'. 'I want you to protect me kids'. 'I want you to help me raise my kids to be good people, because I know I cannot be their only moral touchstone'. 'I want you to be there for my kids so if I fuck up and hurt them, they have someone to go to - someone I trust to comfort them and then hold me to account and make me fix my shit'. 'I am asking you to protect my kids when I can't'. 'I am begging you to love my children even if I am unable to'.
Which! Is a lot of responsibility! But it's also a lot of trust! It's a mark of how deeply Philza does actually trust Tubbo! It's not a job you give to some idiot teenager you know (okay sometimes as the bonus third, but Chayanne and Tallulah only have the two - Tubbo and Niki - and you do actually make sure the main two are responsible and suitable candidates), its a job for a deeply trusted friend! Especially on torture island, where something could happen to any of them at any moment.
And I kinda feel like 'of course I do - they're my godchildren' is Tubbo kinda proving... He understands the responsibility? I mean also he loves them deeply and absolutely, but that's true of other eggs to. Chayanne and Tallulah still come /first/ for him and the reason isn't they're his favourites, or he knows them best, or they're most helpful (lets face it that's Richas and Ramon on the last bit at least), its not even that Philza is his friend - the reason he gives to Phil is so, so, so simple. 'They're my godchildren'. They are, on some level, Tubbo's children. He is a godparent, and Tubbo seems to genuinely take that responsibility seriously. To try make his godkids happy and safe and know even when their parents are traveling they're not alone. He could just fuck off, there's no reason he has to, but Philza chose /him/ to be family for his children, and so family he is doing his best to be. And sometimes that means looking someone in the eyes and saying 'of course I care, they're my godchildren'. (Tubbo's also really good at keeping the boundary of not /my children/ but /my godchildren/, recognising he's not actually their parent for all he has some level of familial and parental responsibility for them.)
Thing is, if anything happens to Philza, then Chayanne and Tallulah become Tubbo's eggs. In a way. By asking Tubbo to be their godparent, Philza was asking him to take them in if anything happened. By saying yes, Tubbo accepted. (Yes of course they're still Missa's kids, unless something happens to Missa too, but someone has to watch them while he isn't there, he physically cannot be there often, and its so much better for it to be someone specific and there for them first and foremost, than to be bounced around the island [mostly cared for by BBH, let's face it]). And if anything happens like, say, Philza looses a 1v1 and so his chance to pick a child to save, then it becomes Tubbo's responsibility to save Chayanne and Tallulah. If Philza and Missa cannot be there, then Tubbo is to parent them in their place - that is what agreeing to be the godfather means. Tubbo is the fairy godmother coming down on the night of the ball to fix their clothes and save them from despair.
(Few extra notes)
(As her grandfather Philza should not be picking godparents for Tallulah, but I highly doubt Wilbur ever did, and he did adopt her kinda now, so let's just handwave that.)
(This would all also apply to Missa, but Missa is rarely around and so like 'I cannot raise the kids alone and my husband works abroad so I'm asking you to keep me in check and to help' is a thing.)
(I like to think Spreen is/was Chayanne's other godfather btw, chosen by Missa. Who maybe isn't the best choice after seeing Ramon, but like... Spreen /would/ have looked after his brother's kids, and Missa trusted him, and its only fair Missa gets to pick one. He might even also have been Tallulah's on the four rule. No idea on Tallulah's other godmother there's not exactly options. If this were so it would have been on Spreen [poor bastard] to keep up their Spanish lessons, buuuuut he was busy being a corpse and this bracket is purely headcanon.)
(iirc Niki is also the eggs' godmother, and so all the above applies to her too! But Tubbo is the one it was relevant to purgatory)

WE ARE FREE IN HIM
"You must work out your own salvation in fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you, inspiring both the will and the deed, for his own chosen purpose. - Philippians 2:12-13
The "religious spirits," in an attempt to put constraints upon our freedom as a result of the finished assignment of the Cross, add "human efforts for salvation," and deceitfully demand for the so-called scriptural "working out your own salvation" as justification!
That is "false doctrine."
The Apostle Paul was talking to young Believers who needed to find God's PURPOSE for their life in their walk -- he was not telling them to toil to obtain a "born-again" relationship with God. They were already Believers -- needing maturation.
Jesus accomplished victory for you in every area of your life upon the Cross with His decree, "It is finished."
Colossians 2:14-15 emphatically confirms this message:
"He canceled the record that contained the charges against us. He took it and destroyed it by nailing it to Christ's Cross. In this way, God disarmed the evil rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by His victory over them on the Cross of Christ."
THEREFORE BY THE POWER OF THE CROSS WE DECREE:
Jesus Christ did everything we need once and for all! We will not allow a false cross of works or religious rules anymore that promote a sin consciousness.
We do not need to work ourselves out of the religious sinful nature. No performance-based activity for a "false freedom" will ever be allowed again.
We will now display what we are in our hearts...we will not live with a sin "fear of sin," because we are forever "free indeed"!
Do not be angry about your past, because people unknowingly gave you the wrong directions. It is time we know that because Christ is in us we are no longer sinners, but instead we are living saints saved by Jesus Christ and covered by His Blood.
Our sins (past, present and future) are no longer imputed (or charged) against us. Romans 6:5-6 says: "Since we have been united with Him in His death, we will also be raised as He was. We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin."

Christ exposing the rules of religion that trapped people into continuing in sin. Christ destroyed sin, giving grace over works so Christians grow in strength and endurance through the trials encountered by advancing His Kingdom through their calling in Christ, and instead of blaming the devil they praise God.
Our resurrected Christ takes away our focus on sin and directs our focus upon the thing that is the most important to Him – advancing His Kingdom.
We must come to an understanding of what generations have been incorrectly taught, that the phony seeds of "law over love" could produce holiness. Genuine holiness is good seed reproducing good fruit from a heart on fire after God through walking in the Spirit and repenting from sin immediately when it occurs and then turning your focus back to your Christ calling.
GOD'S RELATIONSHIP IS THE ENEMY OF RELIGION:
Now is the time to secure your loving relationship with a loving Father God. Today is the day to remove any bindings of "old religious" teachings.
Confirm that Jesus Christ is the Lord of your life and allow the Holy Spirit to destroy any fear of sinning (2 Corinthians 5:19).
Boldly decree your new security in His ever-present love and completion of your life, being sin-free through His Blood forever so you can move from glory to glory as you bear fruit that remains for His ever-advancing Kingdom through your Christ calling.
Now as we bask in the love of Jesus flowing through our heart and into the lives of others, we enjoy a life free of the sin consciousness indeed! We remember that we are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:21).

God’s Son did not disdain to become a baby. Although with the passing of the years he moved from infancy to maturity, and although with the triumph of his passion and resurrection all the actions of humility which he undertook for us were finished, still today’s festival renews for us the holy childhood of Jesus born of the Virgin Mary. In adoring the birth of our Saviour, we find we are celebrating the commencement of our own life, for the birth of Christ is the source of life for Christian folk, and the birthday of the Head is the birthday of the body.
Every individual that is called has his own place, and all the sons of the Church are separated from one another by intervals of time. Nevertheless, just as the entire body of the faithful is born in the font of baptism, crucified with Christ in his passion, raised again in his resurrection, and placed at the Father’s right hand in his ascension, so with Him are they born in this nativity.
For this is true of any believer in whatever part of the world, that once he is reborn in Christ he abandons the old paths of his original nature and passes into a new man by being reborn. He is no longer counted as part of his earthly father’s stock but among the seed of the Saviour, who became the Son of man in order that we might have the power to be the sons of God.
For unless He came down to us in this humiliation, no one could reach his presence by any merits of his own.
The very greatness of the gift conferred demands of us reverence worthy of its splendour. For, as the blessed Apostle teaches, We have received not the spirit of this world but the Spirit which is of God, that we may know the things which are given us by God. That Spirit can in no other way be rightly worshipped, except by offering him that which we received from him.
But in the treasures of the Lord’s bounty what can we find so suitable to the honour of the present feast as the peace which at the Lord’s nativity was first proclaimed by the angel-choir?
For it is that peace which brings forth the sons of God. That peace is the nurse of love and the mother of unity, the rest of the blessed and our eternal home. That peace has the special task of joining to God those whom it removes from the world.
So those who are born not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man but of God must offer to the Father the unanimity of peace-loving sons, and all of them, adopted parts of the mystical Body of Christ, must meet in the First-Begotten of the new creation. He came to do not his own will but the will of the one who sent him; and so too the Father in his gracious favour has adopted as his heirs not those that are discordant nor those that are unlike him, but those that are one with him in feeling and in affection. Those who are re-modelled after one pattern must have a spirit like the model.
The birthday of the Lord is the birthday of peace: for thus says the Apostle, He is our peace, who made both one; because whether we are Jew or Gentile, through Him we have access in one Spirit to the Father.

“On this date you commemorate the sacrifice the Swiss Guards made in their strenuous defence of the Pope during the “Sack of Rome”. Today you are not called to this heroic act but to another kind of sacrifice, also demanding: to put your youthful energy at the service of the Church and the Pope. And to do this you need to be strong, motivated by love and sustained by faith in Christ. I am certain that the decision to spend years of your life in the service of the Pope is not foreign to your faith. Rather, the deeper motivations that have impelled you to come to Rome have their origins precisely in your faith. This is a faith that you learned at home, was cultivated in your parishes, and which also manifests the affection that Swiss Catholics have for the Church. Remember it well, the faith that God gave you on the day of Baptism is the most precious treasure that you have! And there your mission to serve the Pope and the Church finds its source in the faith.
During your stay in Rome, you are called to bear witness to your faith with joy and kindness. How important it is for the many people who pass by Vatican City! But it is also important for those who work here at the Holy See, and that goes for me too! Your presence is a sign of the power and beauty of the Gospel, that in every age calls young people to follow it. And I would like to invite you to live out your time in the “Eternal City” with a spirit of sincere brotherhood, helping one another to lead a good Christian life, one that corresponds to your faith and to your mission in the Church. Take care of one another, support one another when one of you is having a hard time. Be ready to listen, be close at hand. Today we celebrate the Hieromartyr Gregory, Enlightener of Greater Armenia. Saint Gregory was born in the year 257. He was descended from the line of the Parthian Arsakid emperors. The father of Saint Gregory, Anak, in striving after the Armenian throne, had murdered his kinsman, the emperor Kursar, in consequence of which all the line of Anak was marked for destruction. A certain kinsman saved Gregory: he carried off the infant from Armenia to Caesarea in Cappadocia and raised him in the Christian Faith. At maturity, Gregory married, had two sons, but soon was left a widower. Gregory raised his sons in piety. One of them -- Orthanes, afterwards became a priest, and the other -- Arostanes, accepted monasticism and went off into the wilderness. In order to atone for the sin of his father, who had murdered the father of Tiridates, Gregory entered into the service of the latter and was a faithful servant to him. Tiridates loved Gregory like a friend, but he was intolerant of the Christian confession of faith. After ascending the Armenian throne, he began to demand that Saint Gregory renounce the Christian Faith. The steadfastness of the saint embittered Tiridates, and he gave his faithful servant over to cruel tortures: they suspended the sufferer head downwards with a stone about his neck, for several days they choked him with a stinking smoke, they beat and ridiculed him, and forced him to walk in iron sandals inset with nails. At the time of these sufferings Saint Gregory sang Psalms. In prison the Lord healed all his wounds. When Gregory again stood before the emperor cheerful and unharmed, he was astonished and gave orders to repeat the torments. Saint Gregory endured them, not wavering, with all his former determination and bearing. They then poured hot tin over him and threw him into a pit filled with vipers. The Lord, however, saved His chosen one: the snakes did him no harm. Some pious women fed him with bread, secretly lowering it into the pit. Orel Puppington is the protagonist and titular character of the series. He is Clay and Bloberta Puppington's son, as weIl as Shapey's older maternal half brother.

Orel is patient, curious and unconditionally nice, all rare traits in Moralton. He tends to wear his big heart proudly on his sleeve, like when he exclaims "Golly!" or "Hot dog!" when excited. Orel's ultimate goals are to follow God's will and do the right thing, although these may clash at times or lead to catastrophic results. Nevertheless, his good nature rubs o on characters like Reverend Putty and Stephanie.
For most of the show, his dening fault is naivete. Many episodes are fueled by him being manipulated or misled by his elders, most apparent when he tries to apply Reverend Putty's sermons to comical extremes (such as raising the dead because they're "wasting" God's gift of life). While he eventually learns why everyone is miserable in his town and to not take everything at face value, he still tries to be the best person he can.
It takes a lot for someone to get on Orel's bad side; Clay only manages to after two seasons' worth of abuse, culminating in him shooting Orel in the leg.
Orel has his fair share of hobbies. One of his favorites is stop motion animation: at the end of most episodes, Orel makes a short lm that reects what he learned starring Biblical heroes. He was also one of Coach Stopframe's best runners, a star prayer for his elementary school, accomplished in multiple other sports, and a Pious Scout. In addition to these skills, Orel possesses several unusual ones as the plot demands, such as necromancy, hand-to-hand combat prociency, package delivery and running businesses.
History
When he was a toddler, Orel had blind trust in everyone and everything. While his grandfather tried to raise him as a rational young lad for a bit, Ms. Censordoll tried to "scare Orel sacred" into blindly following God. Both of these approaches worked to some extent: Orel grew into a devout Christian, but he would try to apply rational thinking to what he learned at church. As the show progressed, Orel's beliefs expanded past the town's rigid doctrine; in "Praying," he practices Buddhist meditation, and in "Holy Visage," he goes against what he thinks is God's will for the sake of healing Dr. Chosenberg.
Orel's actions had a ripple eect on many characters. Reverend Putty, for example, was selsh and desperate for love until Orel taught him how to be grateful for what he had. When Orel

bonded with Coach Stopframe in "Honor," the man realized that he was better o without Clay.
At rst, Orel either couldn't fully comprehend why the adults of Moralton would do horrible things to him (such as putting down his dog, or taking Christina away from him for minute dierences in faith) or believed any justication Clay left him. After a disastrous hunting trip, wherein he severely damaged his leg and limped for the rest of his life because of Clay, he started to understand why his father and the rest of town acts like they do.
It's implied in the series nale that Orel lives as a happy and mature parent, married to Christina, without ditching his religion. He also stays in Moralton in order to make it a better place.
During his childhood, Orel sang a hit song from Crooning Jesus and made a short lm.
Orel as an adult
Relationships
Clay Puppington
Orel used to consider his father as a wise and noble man. In reality, Clay ignored Orel until he caused trouble, where he would spank and lecture the kid to correct his behavior. These spiels were often contradictory or cynical, such as when he tells Orel that all love eventually fades. Even though Orel still respected Clay before the hunting trip, he was well-aware of his rampant drinking and the beatings endured in his study.
Orel's respect for his old man shattered in "Nature," as he realized that Clay was a miserable and selsh bully. The two wouldn't talk to each other much for six months afterward. Still, Orel felt guilty that he couldn't honor Clay during Christmas. After a fun-lled Christmas with Coach Stopframe, he taught Orel that Clay made who he is, and that was worth honoring in a way. A picture of him on Orel's wall at the end of the series implies that he acknowledges Clay in some capacity.
Bloberta Puppington
Bloberta and Orel have little in common. Most of Blobs' interactions with him stem from her
TRY FANCENTRALGAMESMOVIESTVVIDEOWIKIS desire to look like a good mother rather than any interest in her son. Outside of that, she's indierent to whatever Orel does or what others do to him. While Orel respects her, he knows that she's unhappy with her family, including him.
After Bloberta learned what happened on the hunting trip, she gave Orel a bit more attention. The most genuine concern she showed about Orel was in "Honor," where she thought Orel should be in the family choir. It's implied that Orel still remembers her in the episode's ashforward.
Shapey Puppington
Although Shapey can get on his nerves, Orel still loves him and wants him to be safe (a hard task when his parents give Shapey an abundance of power tools). When they were very young, Orel almost sacriced Shapey at an altar, thinking that God would intervene. In "The Best Christmas Ever," he thought Shapey was the second coming of Christ and treated him as such. Orel eventually gave his gurines and stop motion camera to Shapey and Block for Christmas in "Honor," and it's implied that he still cares about him years later.
Arthur Puppington
Arthur is Orel's paternal grandfather and one of Orel's few good inuences. He taught Orel about rational thinking when the kid was suddenly dropped o at his house, both to counteract Moralton's aggro brainwashing and atone for how he raised Clay. After Orel told everyone about nature and questioned the existence of God, he was forbidden from seeing his grandpa.
If the show continued, Arthur would have stayed at the Puppington residence to ride out a terminal illness. He would give advice to Orel until his death, which would deeply upset the kid.
Block Posabule
When the Posabules moved away in "The Lord's Prayer", they accidentally left Block with the Puppingtons. Orel treated Block as he would Shapey, and is the only person who can tell them apart other than his father (who simply doesn't care). "Honor" implies that he still cared about the guy.
Christina Posabule
Christina is Orel's childhood crush and eventual wife. They were initially forbidden from seeing
TRY FANCENTRALGAMESMOVIESTVVIDEOWIKIS each other because they said their prayers dierently, but this didn't stop them from going to the Arm's Length Dance during the events of "Closeface." In "Honor," they would have 2 children and a pet dog.
Coach Stopframe
Coach Stopframe considered Orel one of his best runners. Sometimes, he used Orel as a way to check up on Clay, or in "Satan," as a sacricial lamb to win Clay's heart. Orel didn't understand why he did these things until "Honor," where the two bond during Christmas while dealing with their feelings about Clay.
Doughy Latchkey
Doughy is Orel's best friend, usually accompanying Orel in his misadventures no matter how scared he gets. Although Doughy's usually content and carefree, Orel is the only person who notices Doughy's rocky relationship with his parents. Doughy's need for good parents can sometimes end up hurting his buddy, as he manipulates him in "Trigger."
Reverend Putty
He delivers sermons at Orel's church. Orel respects him dearly, paying close attention to his sermons and always willing to meet him after hours. Despite Putty getting annoyed by him at times, Orel helps him see the bright side of things and do his best for the congregation.
Stephanie Foamwire-Putty
Stephanie is one of few characters that tries to guide Orel in the right direction. In most of her episodes, she's seen giving advice to Orel and letting him clean up her shop. Orel looks up to her because she's unconditionally nice to him, viewing her as a maternal gure
Joe Secondopinionson
Despite Joe picking on or hitting him, Orel considers Joe a friend and pities him. He spent time with Joe during "Maturity" committing crimes in a misguided sense of loyalty.

oh, hey! the first boy-group adjacent release! was wondering when we were gonna get to that. anyway, this releasing the same night as fall out boys album was life-changing for me. like crazy is, well, a crazy song. the instrumental following the first chorus grabs you by your ankles and drags you through the rest of the song. the somber feeling in alone and face-off feels like sinking into a pit of tar ( in a good way). i'm not even sure how to describe set me free pt 2, with it's bone-shattering instrumental and jimin's booming, commanding voice suckerpunching you through the song-- like he's demanding to be heard. a one of a kind solo debut from a one of a kind performer in the industry.

yes im including both releases bc a midsummer nmixx's dream was too good to be used for just two songs and also its my ranking list and i'll do what i want. besides that, im glad that this was a better year for nmixx. it's been tough seeing the backlash they've had simply for releasing just more experimental music than other groups-- which makes me understand this switch for a more smooth, less "noisy" sound. at least for these two releases - soñar seems to have that "nmixx change up" concept back, and we love her for that. back to these two releases-- i loved roller coaster so much. fun song, fun mv, fun choreo, i love fun kpop songs.

newjeans continues to blow me away with every release. the only reason this isnt top 10 despite every song being basically perfect is bc every song is way too short (what the fuck is ador thinking making get up less than a minute long and then saying "uhhhh maybe we'll release the full ver someday 🤫. anyway) . and, although it was released in dec of 2022, i cant pass up an opportunity to talk about ditto. a beautifully haunting song with a melancholy feeling perfect for the upcoming month of january. just perfectly produced songs with concepts executed effortlessly and further cementing the group as a force to be reckoned with even with just 3 official EP's.

following their first full album in april (which is coming up soon!!), ive once again took over the kpop scene with their first official EP. baddie wasn't necessarily a concept i had imagined for ive, especially since i've typically thought of their concept as a more mature, modern version of iz*one's. but i was pleasantly surprised with the song and the music video. however, i definitely prefer both pre-releases, with off the record being my favorite of the three and of the album. i'm a sucker for kpop producers sampling older songs, so this song using "memory" from cats was no exception. you either get stray kids's music or you don't. thankfully, i do. or at least i really did with this album. idk. i know experimental, "noise" music isn't every kpop fan's thing but i don't mind it-- especially if its from a group that does it exceptionally well. if i were recommend a non-experimental skz song to someone, it would probably be collision- a nice step back from the loud, fast-paced songs on the album.

ateez's "the world" series is probably one of my favorite examples of world building in kpop. from the references to actual art pieces in the "guerrilla" mv to the cool "choose your character" type teasers with bouncy and crazy form, this was truly a great era for their music. both albums are a ride from start to finish. with this world building you up for dune's electrifying chorus like a rollercoaster trudging up a hill. the eery synths in we know feel like you're being prepped for a boss fight, either against or alongside ateez. although this recent album was the last of their "the world" trilogy, i hope they do decide to incorporate the instrumentals that accompanied it in future projects.

no, it definitely doesn't make me irrationally emotional that we've now switched to just one regular twice comeback per year, why do you ask? besides that, another solid album from them. wallflower quickly became one of my favorite bsides of theirs with it's sultry, cooler feel to the instrumental. also i rly like the part in the set me free choreo where they're all dancing in a circle during the post chorus. we love you twice.

i'm happy to say that this is the first time i've enjoyed an nct dream full album entirely. in terms of title tracks, i still dont rly vibe with hot sauce, and it took me a bit to warm up to glitch mode, but ive always enjoyed most of the bsides. istj, however, is probably one of the best examples of "good" experimental sm music. a loud, techno-ish instrumental but with plenty of amazing vocal moments so the song doesnt sound like they're yelling at you. yogurt shake takes the cake as one of the cutest boygroup bsides of the year, another track that makes it difficult to be in a bad mood when you listen to it.

i'd like to give a big shoutout to booseoksoon for releasing a song that manages to get me psyched up for work every single morning without fail. and not only that, but releasing an EP with a really cool concept; each track representing a different time of the day. ive listened to lunch many a time while waiting for 20 minutes in the line at qdoba. and i wouldn't have it any other way.

and a big fuck you to kpop stans who lack basic media literacy to know that hate rodrigo is a satirical song about celebrity worship and an even bigger fuck you to yuehua for doing barely anything to protect yena when she was getting hate for the song. primal rage aside, very nice songs from her this year!! love war was an interesting concept change from her past two title tracks but that isn't a bad thing at all!! also yena + yuqi saiki k reference <3

my ult group makes their debut onto this list with their january EP. i thought of this album as a return to their softer concept seen in songs like "fairy of shampoo" or "blue hour", but with a more mature feel to the concept. tinnitus is an absolute gem in their discography, with the song and choreography (if you watch their performance) telling the story of using music as a coping mechanism. farewell neverland is one of txt's most underrated songs, in my opinion- another perfect song for winter. a brilliant start for boy group music this year.

when bts first announced their "chapter 2" back in june of 2022, i knew that yoongi's solo release was gonna be good. initially, daechwita was one of the only kpop songs i liked in 2020, and i patiently waited for him to produce another song using korean traditional instruments since it worked with his style so well. and my god, does haegeum deliver. using an instrument of the same name, haegeum is almost terrifying-- and the music video that accompanies it makes the experience all the more immersive. snooze is probably my favorite solo bside from a bts member this year-- an overwhelming yet inspiring track with a beautiful instrumental from the late ryuichi sakamoto, who had passed away a little less than a month before d-day's release, and kim woosung's wonderful vocals. people pt 2 was also an excellent pre-release, and has left me wanting at least 20 songs by yoongi with an IU feature. just a wonderful album overall that i regret not being able to see live every day.
23. Loossemble - Loossemble

the second post blockberry creative freedom release, loossemble's self-titled debut EP is just a fun and easy listen. i also really appreciated them for releasing this on a friday so i didn't have to worry about going to work with less than five hours of sleep. from the jazz instrumentals reminiscent of red velvet's "birthday" in real world to the unapologetically cute intro title "searching for their friends", this album is pure kpop. i also think it was really sweet that yves, despite not being an official member of this unit, got to participate in the production of strawberry soda and make one of the sweetest b-sides of this year.
22. Howl - CHUU

i am so unbelievably proud of jiwoo, especially as someone who's ulted her since 2018. her journey has been both heartbreaking and utterly inspiring. this ep is a wonderful solo debut and exactly how i envisioned it. aliens, an 80's-esque track, has aided me in several walks through campus, aka therapy. just an extremely solid ep that i also wish i could have seen live but alas had a final on the day she was going to be even remotely near me.

hey, that's three loona releases in a row! wacky! anyway, with how deprived i was of loona music and how often the boycott podcasts kept getting deleted off of spotify, oec could have released an album of them reading aloud from a cookbook and i would have streamed it like it was actual music. air force one is a masterpiece, a song that sounds like exactly what i would have expected to hear from odd eye circle if loona's subunits had continued to release music in official ot12 albums. the bsides are nothing short of perfect, from je ne sais quoi's hypnotic chorus to love me like's pep that motivates me when I go on the treadmill at the gym. also jinsoul with an eye patch was hot.

source music thinks they're slick for calling it a full album and then making the half that i didn't rank just a "greatest hits" compilation. i see you, bastards. anyways, shoutout to epatbw for being my most-listened to kpop song this year. it's funny to think that the part of "the hydra" that was never released back in oct of 2022 would end up being one of the most stand-out, love it or hate it b-sides of 2023. overplayed? you could argue that. catchy as hell? you betcha. flash forward also stands out to me, not only bc it's just a really cute song, but sakura finally has lines!!! the world cheered!!!

taemin, we are so happy a REAL performer is back. guilty, the styling, the choreography, and the bsides that accompany it are so unapologetically taemin. a perfect return to an extremely impressive solo career spanning what will now be ten years. also if i ignore the first sentence of the rizzness i can like the song. his power.
18. Good and Great - Key

if i could sit down and have a conversation with any idol and talk about their creative direction, it would be kibum. i'd also like to be in a committed relationship with him but i digress. from the dystopian workplace setting in good and great to the campy 80's horror movie elements used in the gasoline concept photos, to the bowie-inspired space concept in bad love, kibum has cemented himself as a one of a kind artist-- and has made me secretly wish for him to work with my favorite groups in terms of styling and concept direction. coolas is electrifying-- tbh one of the few english songs to come out of sm that i've enjoyed. kibum is many things to me, but most of all, he is a STAR.

i was so deep into my zb1 hyperfixation in july that, although i listened to it the same hour that it came out, i didn't come back to exist as much as i thought i would. which i'm regretting as i type this and relisten to the album for the first time in a while. i unfortunately still can't really vibe with cream soda, and i'm upset with myself for not knowing why. but, rather than focus on the negatives, let's talk about the positives. it's an exo album. every bside here is handcrafted by jesus.

good lord he's done it again. after serving pure cutieful in dice and gut punching me with blue, jinki somehow does both with circle. i'll let you all in on a little secret; i'm a sucker for choirs being utilized in kpop (ex. this song, kind of dune by ateez, mama by j-hope). this song is already gorgeous on it's own, but the choir in the background of the chorus makes it all the more heart wrenching. the bsides are all excellently produced-- from the breezy track anywhere to paradise, which is heavily reminiscent of sunshine, one of my favorite bsides from his previous album.

THINK AGAIN, FOOLS!!!! kep1er once again releasing an incredibly high-quality EP only for it to go completely under the radar of kpop stans thanks to their shitty company. this concept was executed wonderfully, from the beautiful concept photos to that indie-film style trailer dropped before the album that apparently just never got brought up again. this album even has some of my favorite vocal moments of 2023, from the melancholy post-chorus in happy ending to chaehyuns spectacular high note in giddy.
13. MELTING POINT - ZEROBASEONE

6. ok im gonna be honest i still havent listened to kiss of life's full debut album yet but i really like sugarcoat and i think that song is good enough to deserve it's own spot in the top 10. we love you natty. we're proud of how far you've come.

it's hard to rank an album when all of it's songs are perfect, as has been the problem with a lot of these releases, but with fromis_9 in particular. i've said this before on twitter, but fromis are one of the very few groups to have an extremely seamless, graceful transition into a more mature concept since their debut in 2018. i can only hope and pray that pledis does more to promote them this year, especially after the success of unlock my world, and continue this gorgeous transition.

coming in at bronze is txt's third full length-album, which managed to do the impossible; make a rock song released by a kpop group NOT sound corporate. skipping stones is guttural, a song reminiscent of day6's music that, if i were just a tad bit more mentally unstable, would make me fall to my knees and clutch my chest in any public setting if i were to hear it. dreamer feels like a big sister to their older r&b track, 20cm, and just might be better than it. a solid full-length album from my ult group that i will treasure for a while.
2. Magic Hour - Kep1er

YOU THOUGHT I WAS DONE PRAISING KEP1ER??? YOU'RE TALKING TO HEAD KEPLI1AN HERE. this EP almossttt topped doublast for me. almost. magic hour, although i will defend kep1er's "noisier" music until the day i die, is the concept i admittedly think wakeone should have given them from the start. the softer, more elegant feeling exhibited in tracks like the door and tropical light fit each member down to a t and, if this is the path they will take until july of this year (except they're NOT DISBANDING they're gonna EXTEND THEIR CONTRACT UNDER A DIFFERENT COMPANY MARK MY WORDS), i am extremely excited for what's to come.

where do i even begin? this year saw the birth of the 5th generation of kpop, and i truly think there was no better song than in bloom to start it. refreshing and whimsical and sampling Aha's "take on me", in bloom is a masterpiece from start to finish. "my day starts and ends with you" rings throughout the song, promising the listener that they will stay with them. let's dissect the rest of the album. back to zerobase, the intro, is both mysterious and welcoming, ushering the listener in with a warm smile but holding something unknown behind it's back, evident in the album trailer it was originally teased in, with possible easter eggs to potential *matpat voice* LOOOREEE. new kidz on the block is fun and cool, telling other groups in the industry to look out, because here they are. and I shows off their cuter side, with lyrics perfectly crafted to fit the y/n fantasies of any zerose. our season is their standard thank you to the fans, we'll promise to stick by your side track except IT'S SO FUCKING GOOD AND THEY'RE GENIUSES FOR LISTING THE SEASONS IN THE SONG IN THE ORDER THAT WE MET THEM IN. finally, always, hao's solo song, is a sweet, vibrant song, carried by hao's beautiful vocals.
and there you have it. a very solid year for kpop for both boy groups and girl groups. this year was probably my favorite for kpop since 2018. now, with the releases already slated for january and the upcoming debuts of some groups, i'd say that 2024 already looks extremely promising be just as good as 2023-- if not better.

CONSISTENCY
1 Corinthians 15:58
Consistency they say is key! In deductive logic, consistent theory does not lead to a logical contradiction. It’s the quality of achieving a level of performance which does not vary significantly in quality over time. It is also the quality of always behaving or performing in a similar way, or of something always happening similarly without deviation and variation.
God has called us to a life of consistency both spiritually and naturally and when we live a consistent life, others can anticipate our tomorrow’s actions by our actions today and yesterday. See what James 3:13 “If you are wise and understand God’s ways, live a life of steady goodness so that only good deeds will pour forth”.
We have a role model and it’s Jesus! He is the role model for consistency in belief, character, and action. There will always be new ideas and new thoughts about how to live. But Jesus never changes, God’s Word never changes because truth never changes according to Hebrew 13:8.
Consistency is when we live in harmony with character, showing uniformity and trustworthiness in our actions and beliefs. Consistency also is what we do today in harmony with what we will do tomorrow. Others can see the way we act, appear and speak, and others can anticipate the way we will behave tomorrow by our actions today and yesterday because our yes is always yes and no, no according to Matthew 5:37. Our biggest challenge is to be consistently faithful, to live with consistent behaviour that is pleasing to God and helpful to others. The Bible calls us to be consistent in our obedience to God as seen in 1 John 2:3 saying we must be sure that we know Him if we obey His commandments.
But how can we be sure that we belong to him? Simply by obeying God’s commandments.
Our consistent faithfulness to God and love toward others and our discipline of maturing in the faith are pleasing to God and encouraging to others. Consistency in the Christian life is closely tied to the discipline of developing an unwavering godly character.
Meanwhile, so many of us are struggling with the meaning of consistency and how to express it. But how do we develop consistency? The answer to developing consistency is found in John 14:15. Jesus says if you love me, obey my commandments. Practice and work toward conscious obedience.
Our text says to be “ steadfast” to not turn aside from the faith of the resurrection of yourselves and be “unmovable” by or be turned aside by others.
1 Corinthians 14:20 tells us not to be children in our thinking. And to be infants in evil, but be mature in our thinking. Why? Infants or children don’t know their minds and are inconsistent in their attitude, behaviour, and actions. They are constantly changing their minds about everything, which is why God says we shouldn’t be like children in our thinking.
Consistency communicates your values, it shows people that you’re serious, making them believe in you more.
Consistency brings us relationships that add value to us because when your consistency is noticed, they join and run with our visions.
If there’s ever a time for consistency, it’s now, in this generation, at this point where everything in society is creating chaos, doubt, and instability both in character and behaviour as no one is willing to call us to order or hold us accountable for our actions. But God demands our consistency as that’s why Hebrew 10:23 says we must not weaver in our ways.
PRAYER: Oh Lord, help me to develop, maintain and keep being consistent in all I do to glorify your name in Jesus’ name. Amen.
