“Where I'll be looking in their eyes when they're down, I'll be there on their side. I'm losing by their side.”
— Mitski, "Bet On Losing Dogs"
Pairing: Buggy the Clown (Live action) x F!Reader
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 6
Summary: You were an apprentice of Gol D. Roger’s crew in your youth, long before his eventual demise. Along with the Red-Haired Shanks and Buggy, you were a formidable trio; the embodiment of a new generation of pirates yet to come. But times changed, and so did you and your friends.
It's been a few weeks since the events in Orange Town, and Luffy notices something that others do not. So, he decides to ask you.
Warnings: Canon typical violence, LA!Verse, No (fully bodied) Buggy this chapter, Luffy being the precious cinnamon we all love and must protect above all else, flashbacks about Shanks, past discussions, Luffy and Reader have a heart-to-heart.
A/N: I was initially going to write them going to the Baratie this chapter, but it became too long so next one for sho.

You're sitting by the table in Party's bar, nursing a cold glass of rum against your cracked lips as you observe to the kid - Luffy - demonstrating his newfound Devil Fruit powers without any regard for poor Makino's furniture.
You don't get him, at all. Then again, you don’t get kids.
You've never thought of yourself as someone who easily got along with them ... or people in general. Shanks has always been the better-suited one for that kind of work. Whereas he is smiling and grinning at the kid’s mischief, you've barely offered him more than a glance at most.
Your crew has been positioned in Foosha village for the better part of the month, stacking up on resources and food in preparation for your next job. Incidentally, the Red-Haired Pirates also happened to be in town for similar excursions. You rarely see Shanks nowadays since you parted ways several years ago, but whenever you happen to come across one another, you share a drink on his tab.
While your crew is around and about, replenishing their strength and vigor for the work to come, you're content with just sitting here at your leisure. When you're not plundering or fighting or attacking Marine bases, you can't find it in yourself to do much of anything anymore.
Nothing adds any purpose to your life save for what keeps you fed and clothed, which in the life of a pirate, simply means pirating.
"I've heard you had good fortune on your latest heist," Shanks says from where he's sitting opposite of you. "For your efforts, the Marines have granted you among the highest bounties in all of the East-Blue."
You hum noncommittally in response, not offering much to the conversation in terms of merriment. "The quality of the Marines has been in decline. It says more about their effort, or lack thereof, than mine."
"Do you know what they call you nowadays?"
"They call me a lot of names, you got to be more specific."
"'Cross-Hairs, the Beast of the East'. It's got a certain ring to it, don't you think?"
"Sure."
Shanks smiles the kind way he always does. Always has done.
"Gum-Gum Pistol!"
The sound of yet another chair breaking has you rolling your eyes without even looking, and poor Makino ages ten years in seconds across the bar counter.
"Luffy!"
"Sorry!"
Shanks laughs heartedly at the display, only to cut it short upon noticing Makino's even glare sent his way from across the bar.
"You were careless," you state matter-of-factly and take another gulp from your drink. "You should've kept the fruit hidden more securely."
"Now, in my defense, I didn't think the lad would searching through my loot."
"Well, you should've." You slam your glass down, strong enough to leave a dent in the wooden surface. "What kind of captain leaves his loot undefended and unsupervised? Especially when it contains a Devil Fruit?"
Shanks doesn't argue with your statement and settles with taking a gulp of his own drink, letting your words simmer in his head. "You're right, I should've been more observant. Now, it'll be more difficult for him to achieve his dream."
"His dream? Of what? Becoming the King of the Pirates?" Try as you might, there's no suppressing the snort that escapes through your nose. "There's only ever been one King, and we all saw what happened to him. What do you think is going to happen to a kid who can't even swim?"
"Oh, come off it!" He gives you a playful nudge to the rib, which you reciprocate with a glare. He remains undeterred. "You mean to tell me you've never thought about finding the One Piece? Not even once?"
"I have no interest in whatever plunder Gol D. left behind."
"Then, what does interest you?" He rests his elbow on the edge of the table and leans over to your side. "What is your dream?"
You grit your teeth under your lips, a flash of blue circulating in your head. "Dreams are for fools and children," you point your head to where Luffy is currently sitting, trying to put the chair back together with a half-empty tube of glue and little luck.
"Come on, I know you better than that. Surely there's something in this world you want more than anything?"
"What I want is ..." You have half a mind to tell him the truth, whereas the other half wants to push the idea further down to the bottom of your chest. "Is another bottle of rum."
You raise your arm to Makino to gesture for another one, but Shanks is quick to lower it with a gentle shove of his arm. You flash him a scowl and brush off his hand, but unlike your crew or anyone else, he's not afraid.
"The point which I'm trying to make before you're completely pissed," he starts. "Is that no matter how much opposition one faces, it's that dreams are never out of reach if you have the will to reach for them."
He inclines his head over your shoulder, and you turn around to see Luffy successfully putting the chair back together. You don't know how he did it - it looked pretty busted minutes ago - but there it is, wholly intact.
And when the boy smiles, it's so vibrant and full of joy that it's almost blinding. He proudly runs over and shows the repaired chair to Makino, who proceeds to pat his head and hand him a plate of food.
"See?" Shanks grins. "Nothing is impossible."
"You can hardly consider putting a chair back together the same as achieving an impossible goal."
He shrugs. "Maybe not, but you won't know unless you try. All it takes is a little spirit."
You watch Shanks for a couple of minutes in silence, processing his mythic words, then shift your attention over to Luffy who's preoccupied with shoving an unholy amount of food into his mouth. If this is to become the future King of the Pirates one day, then it'll be an interesting future indeed.
"A little spirit, huh?"
— — —
You're sad.
Luffy first notices it when you leave Orange Town, and it lingers throughout your voyage.
For as long as he's known you, you've always been a person of relatively few words; never speaking unless you feel the situation requires it, and only acting when necessary. Even following the Kuro situation™, getting the Going Merry, and adding Usopp to his crew, he can tell that you're not all there anymore.
Not to be mistaken, you're not conspicuous with the way you behave. You still act like usual, talk like usual, however little, and commit yourself to your work on the ship, almost to an excessive extent.
All in all, nothing’s changed about you. However, he’s gotten used to your face and general lack of expression most of the time, and though it doesn't seem to alter, he still catches onto the fact that you're sad.
"Hey," he asks the group and props himself in the kitchen, legs crossed atop his seat. "Do you think she's any different?"
"Who? Your friend?" Nami asks, raising an eyebrow. "How so?"
"Well, I think she's sad."
"Doesn't look any different to me," Zoro supplies while polishing his swords on the table.
Usopp's in the middle of munching a piece of loaf, and answers with his mouth still halfway occupied. "Dunno how she usually is, but she's kinda terrifying if you ask me."
"No, she's not," Luffy dismisses lightly.
"What's her position on the ship, anyhow? How'd you come across her?"
"She's always been with me," Luffy answers without any thought. "And she’s a good fighter.”
Zoro — to everyone’s surprise — nods his head to this in concurrence.
Their Captain claps his hands together to get the subject back on track. "But anyway, I just think she seems kind of down now."
"How can you even tell? With eyes like these, —” Usopp puts both of his index fingers at the crow’s feet of his eyes and draws them back to imitate yours. It’s borderline shameful, truth be told. “— I can’t tell for shit what she’s feeling or thinking.”
“I just can.” Luffy shrugs.
“Has she said anything?” Nami asks. “Anything to make you ask?”
“No, not really.” He heaves a sigh and props his hand under his chin, contemplating. “But she's been different since we left Orange Town.”
"If you ask me," Zoro speaks up. "You should ask her about her relationship with that fucking clown."
"Who? Boogie?"
"Buggy," Nami corrects. "Didn't you notice that at the end? They have a history, it's obvious. They know each other, and I don't know what pirate customs are like nowadays, but I doubt you'd touch the face of an enemy unless there was something going on. Has she said anything about it?"
Luffy shakes his head. “No... but then again, she never does tell me much about anything unless I ask.”
The tangerine-haired girl blinks as if the answer to this whole predicament is obvious. She quickly comes to realize that, to Luffy, it’s not.
“So…” she prompts slowly.
“So…?”
She rolls her eyes at his inability to catch her drift. “Go ask her.”
It’s like the thought never even crossed Luffy’s mind in the first place because truth be told, it hasn’t. He lights up like a candlestick on the spot. “Yeah, I should just ask her!”
“Ask me what?”
The members of the Straw Hat pirates (save for Zoro) withdraw in various unique positions, having not heard you make your entrance before you speak.
You’re standing in the doorway to the kitchen, eyebrow slightly quirked at the Baroque-esque scene in front of you. Deciding not to address the display, you simply ask, “Anything I should know about, Captain Luffy?”
Usopp doesn’t even dare to answer, because he knows you sure as hell don’t see him as a captain in general, much less your captain. He swears he notices you briefly look in his direction at the mention of the title, and a shiver runs across his skin. Like static electricity in the air.
“Oh, yeah,” Luffy turns to you, not an ounce of fear in his eyes as he pops the question. “Are you sad?”
You blink once, then twice, like the inquiry on its own is of unfathomable origins to you. “Do I look sad?”
The boy in the straw hat nods. “I think you do.”
“Then I’m not.” It’s not only an answer, but also a sentence that marks this subject as finished on your part. One that does not permit any subsequent additions.
You incline your head to the deck above. “We’re going to have company soon, likely Marines, and they seem to be in supply of heavy fire this time.”
———
The situation with the aforementioned opponents temporarily distracts the crew, yet Luffy maintains a close eye on you, taking note of anything that can point him to the source of the unknown problem. You talk relatively little with the other crew members, but you seem to have developed an amicable enough relationship with them compared to when you first met.
Before, you could care less about getting to know them. Now, you’re actively going out of your way to ask Nami about her cartographic skills, even giving her tips for additions to her geographical detailing. You provide Zoro pointers on self-developed defensive techniques and ways to paralyze opponents in certain spots (which he seems appreciative of).
You even give Usopp a short nod when he tells you one of his fantastical stories, even knowing that they’re full of shit.
Luffy’s happy, but he still sees that you are not.
It’s all in your eyes. They’re hollow somehow, like the end of a barrel. He doesn’t know how he knows, only that he knows, and he’s known for a good while now.
So, that night, Luffy finds you in the kitchen by the windows, absentmindedly snacking on a red apple while you gaze into the dark nothingness outside. He also discovers that he’s subconsciously become quite observant of your habits as of late.
For example, you specifically pick red apples above any other color when they happen to dock someplace, not even paying any mind to the green or yellow ones. Just the red ones.
“Hey,” he positions himself next to you on the bench, a piece of loaf tight in his hand. “Why are you sad?”
You turn your head just a fraction to the side to look at him, not annoyed, but not appreciative of the focus he’s settled on as of late. "Shouldn't I be asking you that? The Vice-Admiral looks a little weary as of late, after all. Are you sad about it?"
"Nope."
“So why do you insist that I’m sad?”
“Because you are,” he states like it’s obvious.
You huff humorously and return your attention to the window that supplies no real view. “How can you tell?”
“I just can.” He takes a generous bite of his food and continues talking, oblivious to the crumbles that fall while doing so. “When I’m sad, I—”
“Eat?”
“Well, yeah.” He swallows the bite down. “But I also like to talk about it with someone I trust. Shanks used to say that true friends are the kind of people you can share your heart with and not get hurt.”
This annoys you, that much he can tell. A nail digs into the apple you’re holding, leaving a crescent-shaped indent on the red skin. “Shanks said many things, and not all of it's true.”
This doesn’t deter him from pressing on the matter. “If you keep all the hurt inside, it’s going to turn bad. You know, Makino said that if you leave a piece of ham in the fridge too long, it’ll get sour and people can’t eat it.”
“Only you could find a way to compare this sort of thing to food.” You withdraw your finger from the apple and end up leaving it alone altogether. A minute or ten of silence waves between you, laced with unspoken questions and denied answers. “Tell me, Luffy, just how much did Shanks tell you about his past?”
He thinks for a moment, mimicking your movements by putting his loaf aside. “Just about his adventures with the Red-Haired Pirates, and a little about the time you served with him. Is it true you were strong enough to throw a three-hundred-pound man to the ground when you were thirteen?”
He swears it’s a snort that he catches leaving your throat, but it’s hard to differentiate it from your more-than-usual scoffs. “He exaggerated.”
“Really?”
“The man was two-fifty, at most.”
Luffy grins with genuine admiration, so much so that your face tilts back slightly, being overwhelmed by the mere brightness that is him. “Wow! You must’ve been quite a beast when you were a kid!”
He notices it again, the sadness that latches onto your eyes like insects to sour meat. Whatever brief smile adorned your lips moments ago disappears like it was never there at all. Thinking he said something wrong, Luffy prepares to apologize when you speak again.
Your voice is soft yet faint like you’re afraid speaking too loudly will make something bad happen. “It wasn’t just me and Shanks, back then, you know.”
The Captain of the Straw Hats thinks it’s almost unnatural of you to be this demure, but he doesn’t interrupt you.
“Buggy was there, too. It was the three of us, together.”
“Oh, yeah.” He remembers it now. “He did mention that in Orange Town. You served the same crew.”
“… He did, did he?”
“He said you and Shanks betrayed him, but I didn’t believe him.” Luffy knows you and has known you for longer than he’s known a lot of people in his life. You’re one of the few permanent people he’s had, and he knows with a certainty that you’re not the kind of person who leaves anyone behind, not without reason.
Even if you did have a reason for leaving Buggy, it must have been a good one.
Your mouth opens and shuts several times in the span of a minute like you’re hesitating to talk about the past. You’ve never been one to talk about it, except to share some details about your time as captain, and even that was limited to the bare minimum.
Still, Luffy, being in no hurry for you to reach an answer, waits patiently by your side until you do decide to talk about it.
Talk about what he believes is the reason for your sadness.
“We were close back in the days,” you begin slowly. “Me, him, and Shanks. It was us against the rest of the world, and we were going to sail together to the end of the seas one day. It was our dream.”
“Then, what happened?”
You put your palm over both your eyes and rest your elbow on the window frame, heaving a sigh that resembles someone who’s spent too much of their life working and working and working without catching any breaks. Pure, simple exhaustion weighs you down, Luffy can tell.
When you speak next, you sound tired too, and perhaps a little strained. He can’t see your eyes, and so, he can’t truthfully tell what you’re thinking now. “The thing is, I don’t know what happened. All I know is that he decided he didn’t want to stick around.” You breathe through your nostrils. “Our captain was gone, and so was the crew, but we three were still together, and I thought we were going to stay together.”
“But you didn’t.”
“No … We didn’t. I don’t know what happened, but one day when I was talking with Shanks about what to do next, Buggy came in, and it … He looked at me like … Like he hated me.” You exhale. “He did hate me, and I don’t know what it was I did, but he practically told me that we were done … And then he left. I never saw him again, up until Orange Town.”
Luffy doesn’t require your eyes this time to tell that you’re sad now because you are. You’re so sad that it’s destroying you from the inside, and even that is an understatement on its own. There are no tears trickling down your cheeks, no quivers or thickness to your voice, no nothing to base his assumptions on, but he knows.
He stays silent for a short while, doing nothing but look at you. You’re one of the strongest people he knows. He’s seen you fight; seen the strength you possess, the fire in your eyes. You’ve stayed with him ever since Shanks left Foosha Village, you’ve looked after him from the sidelines when you thought no one was watching.
You’ve been with him throughout everything, and seeing you like this makes him feel blue on your behalf. You don’t express it yourself – you never do. You carry your weight with the same kind of strength you always do, never letting anyone see you beyond just that, and sometimes, he wonders if you’re lonely because of it.
At least, now he knows why you’re so sad. You’re heartbroken.
He’s never been acquainted with the feeling himself, has never felt any particular inclination toward it, but he can tell it’s your heart that’s hurting now, and it’s not as easy to heal as that cuts he received on his chest from the butler.
His hat seems to itch the harder he thinks about it, as if there’s something digging at his scalp through his hat. He thought Nami patched it up for him. He tries to scratch at it, but for some reason, it doesn’t cease. Maybe he’s got lice?
He ignores it. “It’s weird. Bunky seems to think you were the one who left him for Shanks.”
“I didn’t.”
“I know. You’re not that kind of person.” He says it so easily, without a smidgen of doubt or hesitation. You look at him through your peripheral vision, and your eyes slightly widen at his statement. “But, do you know what happened between them? Shanks and Bonky, I mean?”
“No, I don’t.” You admit with a shake of your head. You’ve tried to figure it out for years, and at some point, you decided to give up. “Shanks never told me, but whatever it was, it was enough for the stupid clown to leave for… He chose a childish rivalry over me.”
“Then, there you have it. It’s all just a big misunderstanding, so why don’t you just tell him if you meet him again?”
“You seem awfully defensive of the guy who destroyed an entire village and almost drowned you.”
“Yeah, but talking about him seems to make you happy.”
You freeze for a bit, snort, and turn your back to the window frame, leaning back and crossing your arms across your chest in silent resignation. “I tried to explain things to him back in Orange Town, and a fat load of good that did. Like I said, he hates me, and he’s sure as hell not my favorite person at the moment. If we do meet again, it likely won’t end any better than it back in Orange Town.”
“You know, –” Luffy takes another bite of his bread. “It didn’t sound like he hated you.”
“Hmm?” You raise an eyebrow, halfway curious and halfway skeptical.
“He still remembers that you like red apples and that you hide knives in your shoes. Is that true?”
You raise both your eyebrows and look at Luffy like he’s just grown a second head. Without a word, you pull your left foot up until it rests on the bench, and withdraw not one or two knives, but four. Small and subtle, hardly enough to turn any heads, but in a flash, you throw it across the kitchen until it lands on a specific spot on the opposite wall.
Bull’s eye.
“We used to have knife-throwing competitions,” you reminisce idly, staring at the knife lodged deep into the wall. “I was good, but Buggy was better.” Your lip tilts up an inch or two. “We made bets, and whoever lost would have to steal a bottle of whatever liquor we happened to find in the next town we docked at.”
“Oh?”
“I ended up snatching quite a lot of bottles, but once every blue moon, he would have to snatch one instead.” You smile. It’s an actual, genuine, honest smile this time, and Luffy can’t help but marvel at the sight. It’s a rare thing for you to smile like you’re doing now. It’s usually brief or sarcastic and never seems to reach your eyes.
This one does.
He thinks you look pretty when you smile. It’s your smile, and it’s so warm that he wishes you could do it more often. He tells you as much, and a red color falls over your cheek. You promptly turn your face to the other side to save face, and it makes Luffy think.
When he thinks about his dream of becoming King of the Pirates, he can’t stop himself from smiling ear to ear. So, that begs the question: “What is your dream?”
What makes you smile?
“My dream …” You reach for your apple and hold it against your face, the uneaten side of it shining against your face. “Is unattainable.
“I don’t think it is,” Luffy says without missing a beat and takes your hand in his, determined to make you see that. “I think that no matter how much stands against us, dreams are never impossible if you have the will to reach for them. All it takes is a little spirit.”
He doesn’t know where those words come from, but he’s heard them from someplace, and judging by your staggered reaction, you’ve heard them too.
“A little spirit, huh?”
“Exactly! So, please tell me, what’s your dream?”
You look straight ahead into the room, resting your elbows back on the window frame without a word. He thinks you’re about to decline his question or ignore it altogether. However, he’s surprised to hear you actually answer this time, truthfully too.
“My dream was to sail the seas with him again.”
Suddenly, the itchiness on his head stops, and it stays that way.

You sat on the porch with Luffy, teaching him how to do some simple math. Luffy was a child that the Marine Vice Admiral Garp had asked you to take care of and educate him while he tend to his Marine duties. You were a smart woman with your father and mother being educators who taught in villages before settling in Windmill village.
"Math is stupid. Why do I have to learn it?" Luffy asked frustrated.
"I get that it can be challenging or upsetting but you need to know at least the basics," you tell him.
"Can we go to the docks later?" Luffy asked you.
"Tell you what, if you can finish this math sheet and get only five wrong, we'll go to the docks," you promised.
"Okay. Deal."
Luffy was smart. Even if you had to teach him in ways that were different, he was still smart. And you kept your promise by taking him to the docks to see the oncoming ships that came by to drop off some food or other goods.
"Woah! Y/n look! A pirate ship," Luffy says as he pointed at the large ship that stuck out from the other ships.
"Yeah. Why don't we go visit Makino," you tell him as you led him away.
Makino owned the bar in the village but she was one of your close friends.
"Go ahead and sit down. I'm just going to have a word with Makino," you tell Luffy.
"Okay."
"Makino, don't be too alarm. But there are pirates here," you tell her.
"Not again."
"I know. Just thought you should be prepared," you tell her.
"Thanks. Where's Luffy?" She asked. You turned around to see Luffy gone from his seat.
"Oh no. Luffy!" You called out before rushing out.
Luffy stood by the pirate ship as he stared at the crew. He had heard of pirates from his grandfather and Y/n but he never got to see them up close.
"What's this little urchin doing on our ship?" He heard. He looked up scared to see a man standing before him.
"I'm sorry."
"Where's your parents? A kid like you shouldn't be on a ship like ours," the man said.
"What's going on?" Luffy heard another man ask. Luffy looked over to see a tall man with crimson red hair that was covered with a straw hat.
"Captain. Found this kid wandering onto our ship," the crew member told him.
"What's your name?" The captain asked Luffy as he squatted down to his eye level.
"Luffy."
"Well, Luffy, do you know where the village bar is at?" The captain asked.
"Yeah. I can show you," Luffy nodded.
"Perfect. Come on lads, let's get ourselves a drink," the captain said.
"Who are you?" Luffy asked.
"You can call me Shanks. I'm the captain of this pirate crew."
"You don't seem so mean."
"Who said I was mean?"
"My grandfather. And my caretaker," Luffy tells him.
"Your caretaker huh? Maybe I should change their mind on me then huh?" Shanks smiled.
"Luffy!" You yelled out. Luffy and Shanks looked over as they heard your yell.
Luffy rushed over to the edge of the boat and looked down on the docks. Shanks looked down at the docks as well to see who was yelling for Luffy. He watched as Luffy smiled and waved at you as you looked up at him with your hands on your hips.
"Monkey D. Luffy! You better come down here right now or else!" You yelled at him. You crossed your arms as you stared up at him.
"Coming!" Luffy said. The crew chuckled as they watched the kid rush down to you after getting in trouble.
So that's his caretaker, Shanks thought to himself before heading down as well.
"What were you thinking? You know better than to go onto dangerous ships," you tell Luffy with a stern look.
"I know but-"
"I apologize if you were worried," you looked up to see a man in a straw hat walking over towards you and Luffy. You pulled Luffy closer to you before moving him behind you.
"The little lad was just curious. He wasn't in any danger if that makes you feel any better."
"It's not just that. It's just that you're a... you're a..." You tried to find the right words to say without insulting him, risking you in danger.
"A pirate? I can guarantee to you that I'm not like any other pirate captain," he tells you.
"And how can I believe you?" You asked him.
"Why don't you join me in a drink and I'll change your mind?" He asked you.
"I think I'll have to pass. We need to get going anyway," you tell him before rushing away with Luffy.
The next day was the beginning of your weekend off as Luffy was with his grandfather for the weekend. You brought some fruit and vegetables to Makino so she could get her first pick before you sold the rest to the rest of the village.
"You know those pirates that came in yesterday aren't so bad," Makino tells you.
"How so?"
"They're nice. And they pay," Makino tells you. You shook your head at her before helping her put some of the liquor that came in away on her shelves.
"The captain seems interested in you," she points out.
"Who's the captain?" You asked.
"The one with the red hair and the straw hat," Makino says with a smirk.
"Don't give me that look," you say, nudging her.
"I'm just saying. You should get to know him."
You shook your head at her before grabbing your basket and heading out to the village. You set up your small stand before sitting down on your chair and picking up your book to continue reading.
"This is nice little stand that you have," you heard. You looked up from your book to see the same pirate from yesterday.
"Oh. It's you," you say as you put your bookmark into your book.
"How much for the fruit?" The man asked.
"It's just two berry a piece," you tell him.
"Seems a little cheap for some good fruit," the man tells you.
"I get paid well for taking care of Luffy. This just gives me something extra to get him some treats for doing well on his homework or some other stuff for me," you tell him.
"Well in that case, I'd like to buy everything you have."
"Why would you do that?" You asked.
"I'd like to get to know you and how can I do that if you're behind this stand all day?" He asked you.
"You could always just join me behind the stand," you offered.
"True. But I would also like to grab a drink," the man winked. You shook your head at him before standing up.
"Alright. A hundred berry for all of them," you tell him. The man gave you the money before taking the fruit and vegetables.
"I'll meet you at the bar then?" You asked him as you closed up your stand.
"I’ll be there after I drop these off," the man winked at you.
You headed over to Makino's bar and sat on a stool to wait for the pirate captain. Makino gave you a look as she walked over towards you.
"Sold your food already?" Makino asked you.
"That pirate captain bought it all," you tell her.
"So you spoke to him?"
"A little. He's meeting me here for a drink."
Makino gave you a smirk before pouring a drink for you and one for the pirate. You looked over at the entrance to see the pirate walking in.
"Glad to see you had a drink ready for me," he said with a smile. He sat next to you before taking a drink of the alcohol.
"You know, I never got your name," you tell him.
"Where are my manners? I'm Shanks."
"Nice to meet you, Shanks. I'm Y/n," you smiled as you offered a handshake. He took your hand into his before placing a kiss on the top of your hand.
"Smooth," you say with a small laugh.
"How else am I suppose to impress a beautiful woman like you?" Shanks asked you. You shook your head at him before taking a swing at your drink.
"Where is Luffy?" Shanks asked.
"He's with his grandfather right now. A couple days off for me," you tell him.
"I see. Do you often get days off?" Shanks asked you.
"Not really. So I try to relax before Luffy comes back."
"I guess this gives us a couple days to ourselves to get to know each other," Shanks smiled. You smiled at him before looking down at your drink.
"Will you show me your pirate ship?" You asked him.
"Want to see it now while it's empty?" Shanks asked you. You nodded before putting some berry down for Makino.
"I got this," Shanks said before replacing your berry with his.
"I can pay for stuff too you know."
"True but I like to find treasure so berry doesn't mean much to me. Though, I think I found some good treasure in this village," Shanks tells you with a smile.
"Come on Captain," you say as you took his hat and put it on yours. "Take me on a tour of your ship."
"As you wish," Shanks smiled before taking you over.

“ᴅʀᴜɴᴋ ꜱʜᴇɴᴀɴɪɢᴀɴꜱ.”
Tumblr media
✸ shanks n’ buggy ✸
Tumblr media
SYNOPSIS - Being in a relationship with 2 pirate emperors is great, but one aspect that comes with a pirates life is a pirates thirst… no, not that kind, you dog!
CW - gn!reader, obviously there’s some intoxication on both sides, reader is explicitly said to be puking, Buggy is doing some dumb shit, shenanigans ensue.
A/N - I’m back from the dead (work), ready to deliver and slowly (painfully) write my next fic (Christmas themed?)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Probably the first to get black out drunk between the two of you.
He’s been a pirate for most of his life, and drinking was a pleasure he so stereotypically enjoys!
So, when you see his flushed face and goofy smile, you couldn’t help but indulge in his silliness. Letting him play with your hair or kiss you all over your face.
But… when the roles are reversed, he’s 100% on you to make sure nothing happens.
It’s not that he thinks you’ll do something crazy while drunk, no no. Rather, it’s what others would do that scares him.
Pirate bars are filled with crude men swinging their swords around, starting rowdy bar fights which leads to terrified bar owners and civilians to evacuate.
Yes he can take care of you with a simple look- his strong conquers haki coming in play- but he’d rather keep the chance of you safe as high as possible.
“Baby… baby, I’m fine, let me gooo…”
You whines fall on deaf ears, as Shanks adjusts you in his arms once again to make sure your head wouldn’t strain. He chuckles as he makes his way down the wooden steps out of Makino’s Bar, the pounding sound of laughter and drunk men filling his ears.
“I’ll let you go once we’re at the port. There’s no way I’m gonna let you throw up on me again.” He laughs, making you clip your tongue and rub your eyes.
“I didn’t even throw up on you!” You retorted. Which brought another chuckle out of him.
He can remember that scene like it was five minutes ago. Well, maybe because it was five minutes ago. He might be a little drunk himself.
Brushing off the warnings of having too many shots, you took your 21st and started to feel nauseous. Before he could drag you away before you hurled up yesterday’s breakfast. Which happened before he could even get out a word. Leaving him disgusted, but even more worried.
“Sweetheart, trust me, I’m not taking that risk again.” He says, planting an endearing kiss swiftly on the top of your forehead, pulling away at the smell of vomit, Making his nose scrunch up.
Shanks sat you down on the pier of Foosha Village. Rubbing soothing circles on your back, letting you take your course. The night sky shined when it hit the slow waves of the sea, a sky littered with stars. A calm, serene night he loved. Especially with you cuddling into his side.
“Are you feeling better, baby?” He asked, a decimal over a whisper. You nod, groaning into his shoulder.
“Good. Let’s get you home and clean up. And maybe apologise to Makino tomorrow morning if she catches us. Other than that, we can always outrun her fury.”
You let out a weak giggle, despite you still feeling not so great. He holds you in a tight grip, sighing happily and looking up to the sky. Allowing himself to indulge in the beauty of the night sky and the beauty that sits right next to him.
“Remind me to bring a bucket next time.” He jokes, landing him a swift punch to the arm and a goofy smile on his face.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Drinking with him has two outcomes:
Either you’re having good times! A couple of laughs, maybe making some great memories that overlap with some of the more confusing ones of drinking with him.
Or… You’re doing the most batshit crazy thing you’ve ever done in your life.
WITH HIM JUST STANDING THERE.
HELLO!?
When I tell you drunk Buggy can take over the world if he so pleases, I mean it
That man has no inhabitions, no thoughts, just a pure drive to do whatever the FUCK he wants for the next 24 hours.
You wonder how such a cowardly clown can become so brave by just a couple of shots.
And honestly, you can be the same way too. It’s not hard to get caught up in all the excitement and thrill of doing shots with a pirate group and almost ending up with a broken limb.
But MAN-
It’s a really mind boggling thing… Like, you could write a psychology paper on it.
“BUGGY, DON'T YOU DARE MOVE!”
“Huh!?”
Your shouts echo the inside of his towering circus top. There your boyfriend was, drunk off his mind due to some of the finest whiskey found in the Grandline (which he happily took), and placing his left leg inside the brightly human- cannonball. He looks back at you, confused but then displaying a goofy smile.
“Aw, c’mon, baby! It’ll be so much fun, just keep watching!”
The older pirate doesn’t stop himself from doing what he wants, and fully places himself inside the cannon, wriggling around as to get comfy. One of his lackies cackles as he reaches for a match, striking it upwards and starting the fire. Your heart only beats louder and faster at the sight of the small flame.
Of course it didn’t occur to you, that the moment that Buggy the Clown asked you to be his partner, you would have to be his temporary mother when he was shit faced on most Tuesday nights.
But, it’s not too hard to keep him in place most of the time. All he wants are some private cuddling, maybe some kisses and words of affirmation. And don’t worry, when the roles are reversed he’ll do anything to help you, too.
Unfortunately today, he decides to act like a crazed toddler.
Too bad he isn’t, it would be easier to wrangle him up.
“Buggy, baby, love of my life,” You start, slowly inching closer towards the red- faced man as he stared at you with lidded eyes and curiosity. “I really need you to step out of that cannon before you blow to infinity and beyond.”
Then there was silence.
And then there was laughter. A drunken one, slurred and almost high.
“I’ll be fine, I’m Buggy the genius- fuckin’- jester! hit it!”
It was too late, the match lit the tiny rope at the end, as it quickly rises towards where the gunpowder lies.
You plug your ears and close your eyes, not wanting to even look or hear the maniac jester shoot up into the circus top’s top, rip past the fabric and blast off again.
Oh yes… again.

The Red Storm - Part II
Fandom - One Piece
Pair - Shanks x Reader
--------------------------------------------------------------
“Dadan!” you shout while opening the worn-down door of her house. “I got the kids!” Ace snorts and crosses his arms over his chest. “I’m not a kid. These two are. I’m their older brother.” You roll your eyes as Sabo kicks Ace in the back. Luffy ignores them both, runs to you again, and tugs at your shirt. You look down at him and see drool pooling at his mouth. “Where’s the food? You said if we’ll come back with you, Dadan will give us food.”
“Want food, do ya?” Dadan’s voice rings behind them. Sabo lets go of Ace’s hair at once and Ace puts Sabo’s hat back on his head. The two kids stand apart from each other and one can’t even tell that they were beating each other a moment ago. Luffy runs to Dadan and jumps onto her shoulder. “Oi Dadan! Where’s the food?”
The older woman grits her teeth and it takes all her strength to not fling Luffy across the room. Instead, she slowly puts him back down and lets out a loud sigh. “Fine, you’ll get your damn food! Wash the floors first!” All three boys complain aloud but one look from the curly-haired woman shuts them up and they begin mopping the floor. “And you,” she points towards you, “go fetch some booze from Makino. We’re out.” You nod and head to the bar. Ever since Shanks had left, you had stopped going to the bar. That place held too many memories of you two together. Usually, you would straight up refuse to go there but today Dadan was in a very bad mood. It’s better to not rile her up any further. And so you walk down the painfully familiar roads and finally reach the bar. Makino is at her usual place, cleaning some glasses. There are very few people in the bar than used to be. You walk over to the counter where Makino greets you with a wide grin.
“Hey! I haven’t seen you in so long!” she exclaims as she walks over to give you a hug. You smile and hug her back, already feeling nostalgia hit you. Oh, how much fun you would have with her and the Red-Haired Pirates!
Stupid Shanks! And his stupid crew!
“Makino, Dadan has asked for more booze. Do you have any for her?”
Makino put her hand under her chin and seemed to be in deep thought. “I don’t know actually. I think the new supply is arriving later. Will you wait till then?”
“I guess, I mean I don’t really have a choice. Dadan will kill me if I return without booze.”
“Good. Come have a seat. I’ll pour you something.” You nod and sit at your usual seat near the counter. Every now and then your eyes move to the adjacent seat, where he would be sitting with his arm around your waist, narrating his grand adventures. You close your eyes and try to get rid of those images but in vain. And so you resort to drinking the loneliness away.
Shanks enters the dimly lit bar, the familiar scent of alcohol and old wood greeting him, but it is soon overshadowed by the sight of you sitting at the counter, a glass of wine in your hand. The years have been kind to her, he thinks, as he makes his way over to where you are sitting, his heart pounding in his chest.
Before he can even say a word, you feel his presence behind you. I’m being stupid. He can’t be here, can he? Agonizingly slow, you turn around and gasp loudly, the wine glass in your hand falling on the table. His eyes meet yours and you feel your heart stop. Why is he here? How?
You stand up from your chair and take a step towards him. None of you say anything. Shanks stands there, waiting to see your reaction before doing anything. You take another step toward him but you lose your balance and fall forwards. He leaps forward and catches you quickly. "Hi," he breathes, his voice barely above a whisper.
Your hands ache to just wrap themselves around him but the disbelief makes them dangle uselessly by your sides as he holds you up. “You look so… so-“
“Old!” comes a voice from behind him. Your head whips around to see Lucky Roux laughing his ass off with a lamb leg in his hand. “Damn girl! You look like you’re a single mother of three!” he adds as he takes another bite of the meat. Shanks lets out a sound something between a laugh and a sigh and sets you back on your feet.
“And you look like you have drank the sea dry!” you retort back. “Did they kick you out of the Grand Line for causing drought?” He laughs again, clearly drunk, and Yasopp joins in this time. Shanks holds your wrist lightly and turns you to him. “Don’t pay him any mind. You look as beautiful as you were, if not more.” You smile at him and your eyes wander over his face, his handsome face you haven’t seen in years. Your hand automatically goes to his face and you run your fingers over his scars. “You’ve gotten more handsome if that’s even possible.” He smirks and runs his hand from your wrist to your shoulder.
“Get a room!” Roux shouts and then chokes on the lamb. You laugh at him and Shanks lets go of your shoulder.
Shanks takes your hand and leads you to your usual seats. The two of you sit down at the bar, talking and laughing as if no time has passed at all. After a lot of alcohol and catching up, you’re both sitting in silence, enjoying each other’s company.
"I've missed you," he says all of a sudden, his voice husky with emotion. You reach out and touch his face, tracing the lines and contours that you know so well. “I’ve missed you too, you dumbass,” you reply, running your thumb over his cheek.
“Why did you come back, Shanks?”
“I had to. We had left something valuable here. We couldn’t possibly go further without it.”
You raise your eyebrow at his response. “What exactly did you leave here?”
“You. I came back to take you with me.” You let out a gasp and shook your head.
“Don’t joke with me!” He intertwines his fingers with yours. “I’m not. I want you to go with us.”
“But…But you said that it’s not safe for me…”
“I know. And it isn’t. But I cannot function properly without you. I have grown so fond of your presence that I couldn’t even look after my crew properly. A feeling of emptiness kept nagging me. It took a lot of alcohol and a dozen scoldings from Benn for me to realize that I needed you with me. Even if it’s dangerous, I’ll protect you with my life. Just come with me, please.” His voice breaks at the end and you have to stop yourself from saying yes immediately.
“But Shanks, what about Luffy? He needs me, no?”
He nods and rests his head on your shoulder. “I heard his grandfather is looking after him. He’ll be safe with him.”
“I guess so but..”
“Do you want to come with me?”
“Well yes but how will I tell that to Luffy? Oh yes, you can come with me! He’ll be so happy to see you and he’ll understand you better!”
Shanks lifts his head and shakes his side to side. “I can’t see him. Not yet. We promised to only meet again when he has become a pirate captain. You’ll have to go say goodbye alone.”
“Meanie…” you mumble under your breath. He laughs and pulls you into his arms. “Sorry, it is what it is.” You huff at his reply and stand up to leave. “Fine you asshole. I’ll go say goodbye. I’ll meet you here tomorrow morning then, alright?” He stands up as well and nods. “Alright, love.”
And then, without another word, Shanks reaches out and gently cups your face in his hands, his touch sending a shiver down your spine. His eyes search yours, seeking permission and reassurance. Finding nothing but love and longing reflected back at him, he leans in slowly, giving you time to pull away if you want to. But you don't. As his lips met yours, it’s like a floodgate is opened. Years of pent-up longing and desire surge through you, and you respond eagerly, your hands finding their way around his neck, pulling him closer. His kiss is soft yet filled with passion, a gentle exploration that speaks volumes about the depth of his feelings. You could taste the sweetness of his lips, and feel the warmth of his breath mingling with yours. Every touch, every caress is like a promise of all the things that could be, all the moments you have missed out on. When you finally break apart, you are both breathless, your hearts pounding in sync. You look into his eyes, and in that moment, you know that this is where you belong, in his arms, forever.

One piece boys finding out you're their soulmate. PT2
Tumblr media
Summary: basically they see the red string that connects the two of you. GN Reader.
Characters: Eustass kid, Ace and Shanks.
Kid
Tumblr media
at first he would think this is the dumbest thing he has ever heard.
until he sees you on the battlefield
he watched the way you fight your enemies mercilessly, taking them down one by one with brute force and making everyone afraid of you, that's when he realized that his soul mate really exists.
no argument, if there's a red string connecting you and him, he won't ever let you go, but sometimes he will respect your space just like you respect his space.
Ace
Tumblr media
you grew up with ace, luffy and sabo, but you were always closer to ace.
he always knew he could trust you and when he told you who his father was you didn't judge him which made him happy.
when ace left to live his life as a pirate, you were obviously sad and felt a void in your life, you thought you should have gone with him.
one day, you noticed a burning red string wrapped around your finger, you followed until the end and your eyes filled with tears seeing Ace right in front of you.
"I'm sorry y/n, but I can't continue my journey without you by my side, would you come with me? " - he held your hand.
you accepted ace's invitation and you knew he would protect you from any danger, that's what soulmates do.
Shanks
Tumblr media
two things you loved to do: going on adventures as a pirate and drinking at a bar with your friends.
when he saw you drinking at makino's bar, he didn't think twice about sitting next to you.
you started meeting more often for drinks together and he loved how he had so many things in common with you.
when he told you about the red string connecting the two of you, you laughed and thought it was just a joke or that he was drunk.
he kept insisting that you were his soul mate but you denied it, deep down you were afraid of falling in love.
a tiny and curious litte boy called Luffy always asked if shanks was your boyfriend, making you blush.
when you heard that Shanks went to save Luffy, your heart raced knowing that his life could be in danger, you didn't know where he was, but a red string wrapped around your finger showed you the way.
after shanks saved luffy by sacrificing his own arm, you were still worried while you bandaged him.
"- you found me with the help of our red string, didn't you y/n?" - you just nodded, blushing, but he lifted your chin with his hand and looked into your eyes.
"so now you can no longer deny that you are mine forever. " - he says before finally kissing your lips.

Hi vivi before requests close i want to request cute female reader x red hair pirates ,like the reader is joins the crew they found she can use magic she specific in water magic ,telkniss magic, mind control
Have good day!
Hi there! I know we talked already and you know I had a few ideas for this one. I chose something kind of cute featuring Makino and Luffy as well. This is before the whole thing where Luffy gets his hat. I hope you enjoy it friend.
Warning: Swearing
Red Haired Pirates x Fem Reader: A Magical Start to an New Adventure
Tumblr media
You and Makino were best friends and both of you were basically Luffy’s mom. Unlike Makino though, you used magic. Your favorite form was water manipulation and telekinesis. Only Makino and Luffy knew about it. Sometimes, you like to play jokes on the customers like moving their chairs and glasses or making their drinks come out too fast and get all over them. Luffy loved it! To him, you were the coolest. But your favorite people to prank were the Red Haired Pirates. They fell for it every time, but they always smiled and laughed about it (unlike some guest).
One day, they came to the bar after being away for awhile. “Hey sweet cheeks,” Benn greeted you, kissing you on the cheek. Everyone else gave you a hug as Makino poured drinks for the crew.
The boys were drinking and everything was good. You decided to start with pranking Shanks. As he was lifting his glass ready to drink, you decided to hit him in the face with it, making it come out a little faster before he could react. But, as you did that, it came out more as a gush. It hit him really fast, like a water cannon. He got soaked in rum.
“What the hell?” Shanks asked as he grabbed a towel from Makino to wipe off. Luffy ran up to you with a angry yet not so scary look on his face.
“Y/N,” Luffy yelled, “that was mean! Why would you use your magic like that?!?”
Everyone froze. Thank goodness it was only you, Makino, Luffy and the crew. Luffy promised to keep it a secret, but you should have expected it to happen.
“Magic?” Yasopp asked, raising an eyebrow at you.
“Huh,” you sighed before continuing, “I have powers. I can move objects and water. That’s why whenever you come here you chairs seem to never be in the right place when you go to sit down or your drinks slip or hit you in the face. I’m sorry for doing that. I understand if you never want to talk to me again.” You looked down at the ground, ashamed.
Shanks eyes went wide with excitement, “that is amazing! So, do you want to join the crew? We could really use a gal like you to help if the currents are…”. You dreamed of going to sea, to have adventures of your own and see the world.
“Really?” You asked, looking back up at them, “I’d love to!”
Benn gave you a hug as Shanks spoke again,“great! We head out tomorrow, but don’t fret if you forget something. We’ll be back again soon.”
The next day, you met the boys at the Red Force with your things. As you walked onto the ship, you knew this was the start of a magical adventure!

Booming laughter could be heard around the bar from the drunk pirates. These men were drunk even if it was barely noon.
You served your 7-year-old adopted brother, that was sitting on a barstool, some orange juice.
You were the adopted granddaughter of Garp. He had rescued you from your village that was attacked by some pirates. You had stayed with him on his ship for a few years. Not exactly as a marine but he did train you so you could defend yourself. So you were pretty good in basic combat and weapon yielding.
You had been staying in Foosha Village ever since Ace had been born. You being 12 years older than Ace and 15 years older than Luffy. Ace seemed to be accepting of you. He would let his guard down around you, let himself be vulnerable.
You worked in Makino's Bar as a bartender during the day, and even some nights if she needed help. She's like a sister to you after all.
The Red-Haired pirates had docked on the island a few days ago. They were only here to get some supplies before they start their journey toward Loguetown. They said they were going to enter the Grandline after that.
Luffy had been fanboying over them ever since they arrived.
Shanks had just made some joke about never seeing a pirate who likes juice. And now Luffy was accusing him of being a 'cheap shot'.
You chuckled softly at your adopted younger brother's behavior.
Shanks turned his head towards you. To his crew, he looked like a love-sick idiot. He was in a world of his own, whenever he would look at you that is.
Your e/c colored eyes clashed with his dark ones and that seems to wake him up from whatever trance he was in.
His gaze seemed intimidating to some. But for you, and only for you, there was an emotion present in his eyes, that even his first mate can't seem to understand.
Benn had seen the way Shanks looked at you. Like you were the most precious thing in the world, and for his captain, you just might be.
He didn't understand this emotion, having never been in love, nor did he understand how can his captain fall head over heels for someone they'd met a week ago.
Sure you were beautiful, and the crew has met other pretty women on the other islands they have docked their ship on. So what was so special about you that made their captain want to stay so much?
They've already gathered all the supplies they originally came here to get. Now, all that was left was for their captain to get on board.
But it doesn't seem like their captain wants to leave this village anytime soon. So in the meantime, they were doing the only thing they seem to know, drinking and partying; they were pirates after all.
Shanks gave you a lazy grin with slightly pink-tinted cheeks after being caught staring at you. You gave him a smile of your own and quickly look down, going back to work, to hide your scarlet cheeks.
Oh, how adorable he found you.
He rested his chin on his palm, leaning against it, looking at you with dazed eyes and still slightly pink cheeks, he spoke up, "When do you get off work?"
His question did catch you off-guard, nevertheless, you answered him, "Usually around 11, but since pirates are in town, I would go home when they leave" You gestured behind him toward his crew, "Don't wanna leave Makimo with any problems"
"Are you calling us a problem?" He feigned a look of hurt and shock.
"Are you not?"
He let out a hearty laugh at your response. You suppressed your giggles, opting to just give a small smile instead. As much he wanted to hear you laugh, he can't just outright come and say that. That could look creepy, and he really doesn't want to creep you out.
He once again went to lean his chin on his palm, looking at you with a small smile.
"Are you free tomorrow?"
Your body froze up at his sudden question. However, after a few seconds, you did respond to his question, "Well, like I said, pirates, are in town. I can't leave Makino-san alone."
His expression fell at your answer. And, now he had a barely noticeable pout adorning his face. He did try his best to hide his disappointment. He really wanted to hang out with you, but he would never force you to go out with him if you didn't want to.
You know he tried his best to hide his sadness. And that somehow made your heart flutter. "However, I do think, since your crew would be knocked out until noon, I might have a few hours in the morning."
You rested your chin on your palm, mirroring his action. The only difference was he was sitting and you were standing, a bar in between you two. "Why'd you ask? Have something in mind?" You quirked an eyebrow at him.
He leaned in slightly, looking at you with affection-filled eyes, "....maybe I just want to spend some time with this really beautiful girl I know."
You somewhat managed to keep your expression neutral. Keyword: Somewhat. You still couldn't fight the smile that was threatening to stretch across your lips. And Shanks had to admit he was really proud of himself for being the one that got you so flustered within seconds.
You couldn't hide your red cheeks from him, but still, you tried to play it out as casually as you can, "Oh? The great Shanks has already had his eyes set on someone?"
"Only on you."
He chuckled at your flustered expression, it was such an adorable sight to him. Your brain was still trying to register what just happened, when one of the villagers busted into the bar, catching everyone's moment.
You rushed by his side, asking him if he was alright. He was panting and looked as if he just ran a mile. Actually, he might have.
Suddenly, he grabbed both your shoulder and told you what was happening near the shore. Apparently, Luffy had picked a fight with the bandits that came to your bar not long ago.
Shanks and his crew rushed out of the bar without wasting a single second. You rushed towards the shore as fast as you can.
When you reached there all the boss bandit's henchmen had been defeated, but your brother was nowhere in sight. Neither was Shanks.
Benn updated you on what had happened. You couldn't help but worry, even if Shanks had gone after him, Luffy was still a devil fruit user. And a very new one at that, there was no way he could save himself using his powers.
After a few minutes, you saw someone emerging from the water. It was Shanks, with Luffy in his arm. You rushed towards them, checking to see if your brother was alright. He was crying and blaming himself for Shanks' lost arm.
Shanks assured him over and over again that it wasn't his fault. You rushed over to Shanks and wrapped the white apron you had around your waist, around his arm/shoulder to try to stop his bleeding. He was quickly ushered toward the only hospital in Foosha village.
After, a few hours, the doctor said that he was ready for visitors. You along with Luffy and the rest of his crew were waiting for him in the waiting room. However, Luffy had fallen asleep with his head resting on your lap.
Shanks' crewmates were the first to visit him. After about an hour, all of them left except for Benn, who decided to stay the night there. Benn quietly exited his captain's temporary room and sat next to you.
"You can see him now if you want to", he spoke in a hushed voice, aware of the sleeping boy. You shoot him a quick smile, and gently moved yourself trying to not wake up your brother.
You knocked before entering Shanks' room. He was sitting propped up on the bed. His expression softened once he saw it was you.
Sure, he has a soft spot for his crewmates and he really loved them; they were his family after all. But you had somehow managed to steal his heart in a week.
"Hey", he gave you a toothy grin.  You returned a small smile in return. Quickly taking a seat at the edge of his bed you scanned him for any other injuries.
His soft laughter echoed through the room, and you raised your eyes to meet his loving ones. You placed a hand on his cheek, softly stroking his cheekbones with your thumb. He leaned into your hand, still looking at you adorningly. Your eyes were looking into his dark ones, looking for any sign of uncomfortableness.
"Thank You", You said with a smile.
Shanks was sure his heart would break out of his ribcage. He gently wrapped his finger around your wrist, and moved them a little bit, touching his lips to your wrist.
He let his lips linger there for a few seconds, before placing your hand on his cheek again. Your whole body flushed at his gesture.
He put his hand on your cheek and pulled you towards him, gently touching your foreheads. He closed his eyes in contentment, you followed suit.
A comfortable silence fell upon you two. You moved yourself a bit so now you were laying next to him, on his uninjured side, with his arm wrapped around you, and your head resting on his shoulder. You closed your eyes, sighing in contentment. He caressed your shoulder, resting his head on top of yours.
You both weren't meant to be. You knew that, and so did he. He was wanted man, and you were a simple girl, working as a bartender. But even that couldn't stop the love that was blooming between you two.
"Y/n?"
"Yeah?"
"Would you come with me?"
You slowly opened your eyes, lifting your head off his shoulder to look at him. His arm which was around your shoulder, came back to rest on your cheek. Your eyes held sadness in them. He didn't need to hear your answer, he already knew it.
"I can't", you whispered softly, leaning into his palm, "I have to take care of Ace and Luffy. They don't have anyone else."
He pulled you towards himself once again, only this time, he connected his lips to yours. It was short and sweet with a hint of sadness to it.
You pulled away just as Luffy entered the room. He was rubbing his eyes, seems like he just woke up. He looked up to see you sitting on Shanks' hospital bed with you slightly leaning towards him.
Luffy jumped up with excitement, practically running towards you. He hopped on the bed making himself comfortable in your lap. You leaned against Shanks, resting your head on his shoulder.
Luffy was busy chatting up with Shanks to care. Benn peaked into the room, to check if there was any problem. He was not ready to see such an adorable sight.
You were leaning on Shanks' side with his arm wrapped around you, and Luffy sitting in your lap, talking to Shanks about God knows what. You had a soft smile on your face, watching the two interact. With so many similarities between Shanks and Luffy, you three looked like a family. A small but happy family.
Benn left you three alone, returning to the ship. It looks like neither Luffy nor you are going home today.
Luffy finally seems to notice you and Shanks being all cuddly-cuddly. He furrowed his brow and scrunched up his nose in confusion. He tilted his head to the side and asked you, "Why are you two hugging?"
You laughed softly leaning against Shanks some more, "Because he's warm."
Your answer didn't really help him. He was warm too, you said so yourself once. He shrugged his shoulders quickly forgetting the topic.
A knock on the door caught your attention, it was Makino. She was here to take Luffy home with her. You two had been staying with her for the past few weeks because Garp has yet to introduce Luffy to Dadan.
She smiled at the sight of you three huddled together. She quickly left with Luffy, after thanking Shanks for saving him.
Shanks change his position so he was lying on his back, although he quickly turned to his side and dragged you down too.
He looked into your eyes with the same emotion he seemed to have every time he looked at you.
His beautiful eyes held a silent plea, asking you to stay the night with him. You gave your answer by snuggling closer to him and closing your eyes. His heartbeat lulls you to sleep.
---
It had been a week since the day Luffy was saved by Shanks. Everyone, including you, had gathered near the harbor to bid their farewell to the Red-Haired pirates.
You smiled when Shanks gave his hat to Luffy, also making a promise to him, that would only drive him to work hard towards his goal in the future.
He bid his goodbyes to the rest of the village before making his way to you. You knew this can very well be the last time you'll see him. The rest of the villagers left to give you two some much-needed privacy.
He extended his arm towards you, his fingers delicately holding a piece of paper. You gingerly took the paper, examined it, and looked up to meet his soft gaze. "A vivre card?
He exhaled through his nose, a hint of sadness on his face, "Yeah."
He cupped your jaw with his hand, stroking it softly, "Every year on this day, I'll go to Sabaody Archipelago. If you ever want to come with me, meet me there. Find me with the help of this paper."
You had a look of shock and disbelief. "You'll wait for me?", you asked, your voice barely above a whisper, "No matter how many years it takes?".
He pulled you close, connecting your lips once again. Pulling back he smiled at you softly. Even if you've spent the last week with Shanks, the butterflies in your stomach don't seem to die down.
"I'll wait for you till the day I die"
You were the one who pulled him in for a kiss this time. You spend the last few minutes with each other. But you both knew that he would have to leave eventually.
---
It has been almost 10 years since that day, and Luffy is leaving today, to accomplish his dream of becoming the Pirate King. You pulled him in for a hug, telling him not to make you worry too much.
Luffy was really grateful to have you in his life, along with Ace and Sabo, of course. You were the parental figure in his life. You were the mother he never had. You raised him with love. And he really loved you too.
You watched as Luffy's boat gradually became smaller and smaller.
In a few months, you would be leaving the Foosha village too, the only reason you had stayed was to take care of your baby brothers, now that they had both gone their ways, it was time you left too.
---
You just docked on Sabaody and were walking around with Shanks' vivre card in hand. Today was the day, 10 years ago, when Shanks had left.
You didn't have to walk for too long when a familiar yet somewhat unfamiliar voice called your name. You turned around on your heels, and there he was standing a couple of meters away from you.
You observed each other, noticing the changes in each other's appearances.
You ran towards him embracing him tightly. You laughed and he followed along with you. This was probably one of the best days of your life.
And on that day, you became the new member of the Red-Haired pirates. The crew welcomed you with open arms.

I'm sorry the ending was kinda rushed. But I enjoyed writing this one-shot and I hope you enjoyed it too. It's been in my drafts for way too long. Thank You for reading!

A Synchronized Duo
Catch me screaming after the Magilumiere office keeps expanding. 8D *Note: This is set after ch59, after the team returns from the Kyoto battle.
Fic: "A Synchronized Duo" [FFN] [AO3]
Pairings/Characters: pre?Makino Akane/Akasaka Iroha
Rating: K
Words: ~1,340
Additional info: romance, friendship, fluff, 3rd person POV
Summary: As the latest additions to Magilumiere, Makino and Akasaka have their own way of doing things, together. But, after being on her own for a few beats in Kyoto, Makino worries about being part of a duo, for lots of new reasons.
Makino felt a headache coming on and, worse, the moment she thought of the word "headache," the pain pulsing at her temples amplified. She sighed, pressed a finger to her brow, and pushed away from her desk at Magilumiere, making a beeline for the office microwave.
She rifled through the packets of tea in the cupboard and even eyeballed the coffee machine Midorikawa kept pristine off in the corner. Tea or coffee—neither appealed to Makino at the moment, but she found a stray hot chocolate mixed in with the teabags. Huh. Out of season for it, but it wasn't expired…yeah. She could do with some hot cocoa right about now.
Makino filled a mug with water and stuck it in the microwave, but she turned around and stared out at the rest of the office while she waited for the water to heat. Her eyes flicked first to Shigemoto's inner office door, but that was closed, like most days—not odd, especially after his revelation to them in Kyoto. From his door, Makino followed Midorikawa's tall form to where their office manager brought extra cords for their pair of engineers sitting on the small sofas across from each other. Nikoyama thanked him and Yamimori ducked his bleached blond head in gratitude. Sitting at their desks nearby, Koshigaya scolded Yamimori for being bashful, and Sakuragi couldn't help giggling. Even Akasaka, at the next desk over, tried to stifle her own laughter.
This sight—it felt so strange, Makino thought with a frown as she crossed her arms in front of her chest. Yes, they'd secured their new engineer. And, yes, Shigemoto had encouraged them all to take this breather after returning from Kyoto; after all, what should've been a calm company retreat had turned out to be one hell of a dangerous job. They all deserved a few more quiet days…
The microwave beeped at her, so Makino tore her eyes from her friends to grab her mug and dump the mix in. As she stirred, her frown deepened.
      "Something wrong?"
Makino jolted. Thankfully, she had a good grip on the mug, so its contents sloshed but didn't spill when Akasaka spooked her. The redhead glanced at her bespectacled partner to her left. "Ah, Akasaka-san… Did you need something?"
The other woman watched her make her drink. "Not necessarily. But you've been wearing a—let's say, a strong frown, since we returned." She glanced at their friends. "Which seems at odds with everyone else's behavior. Don't you think we have plenty to celebrate, Makino-san?"
This perceptive side of her—it was one way in which they were similar and got along, but Makino now understood that there were definitely times she didn't want to be read like a book… Especially if Akasaka paid enough attention and didn't skip lines or pages, then she'd read it all.
That Makino's head wasn't here but still back in Kyoto.
Back in Kyoto, where everything was still going wrong.
Where Yamimori was working hard but was beside himself, inside that weird barrier at the shrine, with an injured Makino and a collapsed Tonomori and…and a barely conscious Akasaka, as well…
Makino pulled herself from those vivid memories and chewed on her bottom lip, glancing at Akasaka a second time to remind herself that, no, her partner was alive and well and that they had made it out of there. She and Akasaka had gone into that hell together, and they'd come out of it together.
That was another thing they had in common, all these things done together. Trading in their old companies to join Magilumiere at the same time… Makino liked that, despite being the new faces here, Akasaka was a seasoned magical girl same as her. And they always got right down to business out in the field. They'd even worked on that twinning transformation for their Magilumiere forms!
Akasaka cocked her head Makino's way, curious, but Makino offered her half a smile while she tried to focus on the positive things—on things, as Akasaka would point out, she might celebrate. Yeah, she wanted to focus on positive things, to focus on how comfortable her transition from Apda to Magilumiere had been, switching from working on her own to not only having real-time support and a team but a partner who worked so well with her on every job…
…except her thoughts circled back to their last job, in Kyoto, to the challenge of that unknown Kaii, to the sight of Akasaka falling beside her—
Makino couldn't recall the last time her heart had jumped into her throat like that.
Akasaka raised her eyebrows as if in question.
The redhead licked her lips and pursed them, giving Akasaka another glance, longer this time but for good reason. It struck her, too, as strange, that Akasaka seemed completely fine now, even if she hadn't been hit as hard as Tonomori…but if Akasaka and Makino were on the same wavelength, then didn't the Kyoto incident linger with her, too? Or was Makino the odd one out, for being hung up on it?
Akasaka pushed her glasses up the bridge of her nose. "Is it your foot?"
Makino blinked, her mug halfway to her mouth. "Eh? My foot?"
"The one you hurt in Kyoto." Akasaka glanced at their feet as they leaned against the counter together. But then her eyes were back on Makino's, blue–black meeting brown. "I know you said you were feeling better, but, if not, tell me, Makino-san."
Ah. So perhaps Kyoto didn't worry her, but Makino's well-being did… Makino's chest ached a bit at the notion, and the ache became a painful throb the longer Akasaka stared, eventually giving Makino a curious little smile. Oh, she was looking for a response. "…no. no, my foot's fine. Are you, um." Might as well go for it: "Are you all right, after Kyoto?"
Akasaka's small smile widened and—was it just Makino, or was it blinding? Ahh, Akasaka seemed so bright to her with that big smile that crinkled her eyes…! "I am," Akasaka replied. "I feel bad that you had to do any fighting on your own, but I know I'm safe with you around. I'm glad we're partners, Makino-san." She nodded when she finished, emphasizing her words.
But those same words were not only reassuring for Makino… She set her mug down and dragged a hand over her face, which felt as warm as her hot cocoa and she would bet money was bright red to boot. Honestly…!
Why on Earth had she wasted time whining about boyfriends-this and boyfriends-that to poor Sakuragi when Makino now had someone like Akasaka Iroha right in front of her?!
"…'Akane,'" she murmured from behind her hand.
      "Hmm?"
Makino summoned her wits and courage and dropped her hand to face Akasaka once more. "It's 'Akane.' I think we've been through enough to be on friendlier terms."
Akasaka blinked, once, then twice—urgh, so cute!—but she smiled again, and her eyes crinkled once more. "I think you're right. Akane-san."
Makino swallowed a lump in her throat. Ahhh, she really made the right decision to join Magilumiere…! And maybe…maybe her lingering worries about Kyoto were silly after all…
But then Akasaka pushed off from the counter, making to return to her desk.
      "Iroha-san," Makino blurted.
"Yes?" Akasaka turned back towards her, her bob slightly swaying around her jawline but always her ears never peeking through.
Makino froze with her attention back on her. "Oh. I, uh. I just wanted to try it out."
Akasaka reached for her nearer hand and gave it a squeeze…even though there was no need, without them transforming. "You'll have all the time in the world for that, Akane-san."
Makino fought back and failed to hide her stupid little smile at that, and she let Akasaka return to her tasks first. After all, Makino had hot chocolate to finish…but she didn't really need it anymore.
Akasaka's promises, better than cocoa, were the perfect remedy to soothe Makino's stress headache.
:3c Well, first thoughts: I think the last time I had to add this many names to Word's dictionary, it was when I started writing for Haikyuu!! XD ANYWAY. I do think my top OTP in Magilumi is Akairo—Akane/Iroha. They just. HOW THEY DEBUTED. WUT. And they've been practically canon research gfs ever since. I cannot. Canon or not, shipping or not, I adore both Akane and Iroha and esp love drawing Akane, *lol* (tho I find her hair challenging—I think Hitomi's the easiest for me to draw??), and I rly do love any and all screen time they get, esp in recent chaps. *as of writing this oneshot, mew is caught up to ch77/reading along with the simulpub & is awash in feels atm, pls handle w/care* So yeah. I have loose plans for another Akairo, plus some art, so pls come chat with me on FFN/AO3/tumblr/pillowfort~ I just knew I had to write a they-use-their-given-names-as-a-sign-of-closeness story after the Kyoto arc… *eyes*
Thanks for reading, and feel free to leave an anon/unsigned review via the FFN link or comment via the AO3 link at the top of the post, especially if you enjoyed this!

Dawn Island was not much.
You’ve never left the island. Never really considered it. You were born here and would probably die here, just like your parents, and grandparents, great grandparents, and so on and so forth.
But you didn’t mind the small island life, too much that is.
Makino was at home resting, morning sickness getting the best of her lately.
You’d manage just fine, the bar was kind of slow anyway. A nasty storm had passed through the other day, meaning no one new had port at the docks yet, and most of the community were at home trying to salvage their damaged roofs or flooded carpet.
You were stacking cups when you heard the door swing open, loud steps echoing in the empty bar, the last occupant having left almost an hour ago.
“I’ll be with you in a minute!” You call over your shoulder, throwing the rag into sink, before turning back to the bar, “What can I get for-” You trail off, jaw dropping to the floor.
A signature smirk splitting his face, “And here I was enjoying the view.”
“Ace?” You come round from behind the bar, not trusting your eyes for what’s in front of you.
“As I live and breathe.” He answers, arms stretched out.
“Holy shit!” You run into his waiting arms, a bright smile and laughter on your lips. He catches you with ease, lifting you off your toes. You can barely wrap your arms around his torso, his body unnaturally warm.
“It’s been a while, (Y/N).”
And it has been. Almost three years since you last saw Portgas D. Ace when he left Dawn Island on a boat that could barely float.
He had been a fixture in your adolescence, trailing after Luffy who was trailing after Makino whenever the duo would find their way into town.
Eventually Ace started ditching Luffy, opting to spend time at the bar trying to swindle Makino out of a drink. After many failed attempts he realized she wouldn’t be serving him, he set his sights on you.
You had just started bussing tables and helping serve drinks and were definitely not looking to get canned within the first month for him, much to Ace’s displeasure. But that never stopped the constant flirting and charm he would lay on you. You suppose he just never gave up until the day he escaped here.
“Can I finally get a drink, or is Makino gonna stop me?”
“Lucky for you, it’s just me today.”
“Oh really?” He raises a brow, and his tone sending a shiver down your spine.
“First one’s on the house.” You smile, returning behind the bar to pull out two glasses. You usually don’t drink on the clock, but with Ace back in town, it’d be a crime not to celebrate.
A few drinks and many laughs later, both you and Ace had your heads pressed against the bar top. You’d never dare if you hadn’t just wiped down the counters yourself.
Ace smiles at you with hooded eyes, “You don’t belong here.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” You ask, your cheek smushed against the bar.
“You’re too good for this place.”
You roll your eyes, sitting from your spot to go around the bar, “No wonder Makino never gave you any drinks. You turn into a sap.” Collecting the glasses, you turn around to start scrubbing out the sticky and dry ale.
“I mean it!” Ace all but yells, “You should be out there!”
Your shoulders tense, ignoring his words. They’re starting to sound like the one’s in your head you’ve been so good at pushing down your whole life, “I’m perfectly content right where I am.”
“That’s bullshit! You belong on the sea!”
Your fingers dig into your palm right through the rag, bitterness seeping into your words, “Yeah, well not all of us can just run off and become a pirate.”
“But you could! I’m sure Pops wouldn’t mind one more crew member! Shit, he’s already heard so much about you. And you can meet the rest of the crew, they’re gonna love you! And you can help annoy Marco with me and-”
“That’s enough!” You scream, slamming the glass so hard it shatters, “For fuck’s sake, Ace!” Spinning around to meet his shocked stare, “Not everyone is like you and Luffy! We can’t just take off to the Grand Line without a care in the world!” Your chest is heavy with every breath you take.
Ace just gives you a once over, “I didn’t expect you to be a such coward.”
A gasp escapes your lips, “I’m not a coward!”
He jumps the bar, standing so close to you in the small space, a smirk splitting his face. “Then what are you so afraid of?”
You glare at the wall behind him, “I’m not a coward because I don’t want to be a pirate.” You spit the word like some insult.
But Ace just takes it in stride, hands falling to the counter behind you and caging you in, “You used to eye those pirates who’d come to town with such wonder. Like you had a schoolgirl crush on them.”
“Pfft.” Arms crossed, “As if I’d ever be with a pirate.”
Ace doesn’t give anything away, “But you wanted to be like them.” He leans in closer, lips against your ear, “Going where you want, taking what you want, fucking who you want.”
“You’re such a pig!” You slap his bare chest, momentarily realizing you finally got your fingers on his hard planes of muscles.
Ace backs up against the other side of the bar with a crooked smile, “Nah, just a pirate.”
You huff, crossing your arms again and looking at the ground.
“Hey.” Your eyes meet his, “Tell me what it is.”
It’s the sincerity in his voice and stare that makes you spill, letting out the thoughts you’ve kept locked away for so many years, “Weren’t you afraid you’d fail?”
“’Course I was.” He answers easily.
“I’m serious!”
“And so am I!” Ace shoots back, “You think I wasn’t worried about disappointing Luffy? Or that I’d get cut down before even leaving the East Blue?” You just shrug, “But if I risked that and made it?” Ace’s shoulders fall back and a grin stretches onto his face, “It’s been everything I hoped and dreamed of.”
You’re staring at Ace hungrily, a pit of jealously filling your stomach at the look on his face. God, you want to feel that, you want to become that. The way his energy crackles with electricity. The gait in his step you can only get from surviving a bloodied battle on the seas. That look of wonder of someone who’s see more of the world than most but knows there’s still so much more to be discovered.
“I,” You trail off, “I can’t.”
“You can.” He says earnestly, grabbing hold of your hands, “I can show you, take you all over the Grand Line, and I’ll make sure you see it all.”
“You’d stick with me the whole way?”
Ace scoffs, “You’ve had me since the day I first saw you in this bar.”
Your eyes bulge out of your head, “I have?”
Ace rubs the back of his neck, face turning bright read, “Luffy never said anything?” You just shake your head, still in shock, “Well shit.” He laughs.
You take a step forward, fingertips running along the red spheres tied his neck, “Promise?”
The crooked grin returns to his face, “I’ll be the big bad pirate looking out for you.”
You roll your eyes at his jest, but appreciatively drink in his wide and naked chest, the thick arms with letters engraved on the side, his taught stomach wit shorts hanging dangerously low. “I’d say.” You tease back, “Not the scrawny teen I remember.”
Ace pouts, “I was never scrawny.”
“Pfft, whatever you sa-ahh!” Your sentence cuts off with a scream when your toes lift off the ground, hands gripping under your thighs as your ass hits the bar behind you with glasses tinkling from the disruption.
He wags his eyebrows, “And I’m still not.”
You instinctively wrap your legs around his waist, a little afraid you’re going to slip but also enjoying the way your hips burn with the stretch to accommodate him. It’s been way too long since the last cute person wandered into town, forcing you to find satisfaction on your own.
“Is this where you give me a taste of what life on the Grand Line is like.” Your fingers pull on his necklace, bringing him closer, “What was it you said?” A finger taps your chin, “Going wherever, taking whatever, and fucking whoever?”
Ace meets your banter with a deliciously slow roll of his hips, “You tell me. It’s your first day as pirate after all. You gonna take what you want?”
Your eyes search his stare, flicking to and from his lips, back to see his eyes that are now focused on your mouth. Which makes it an easy decision to press your lips to his, wrapping a hand around the back of his neck.
You get a brief moment of control, nipping at his bottom lip. But then he releases your thighs, making you tighten your grip, and one of his hands flies to your back, the other cupping your jaw as he deepens your kiss and pulls you tight against his body. After a bruising kiss, Ace pulls back, “First lesson, pirates fight have to fight for what they want.”
He attacks your neck first, teeth sinking into the sensitive flesh. Your hands fly to his hair as he makes up for it with a gentle lave of the tongue before repeating the process up and down your throat.
“Ace.” It comes out more as a moan, one of your hands flying to the edge of the counter to steady yourself, “Someone might come in.”
He pulls back from your neck with that devilish smile, “Then I’ll just have to be quick.”
A squeak escapes you as he wastes no time falling to his knees and pulling your legs apart and burying his face in your cloth covered cunt, “Ace!”
“C’mon.” He whines, nipping at your exposed thigh, “A true pirate wouldn’t care.”
You chew on your lip, eyes flicking to the door and back. It’s not like anyone can see Ace behind the bar even if they were to come in. Without being able to double guess yourself, you jump off the counter to pull your shorts and undergarments down in one swoop, meeting Ace’s grin with one of your own.
“That’s what I like to see.” And then his face disappears between your legs as he wastes no time licking a stripe right along your slit.
“Oh fuck.” You exhale, hand flying to his head, pushing aside that ugly orange hat of his and digging your fingers into his hair. Ace hums throwing one of your thighs over his shoulder and his hand wrapping around the other.
He’s got you spread and at his mercy as his tongue reaches in you, nose brushing at your clit with every thrust of his tongue. It’s a positively sinful scrape of teeth that has you rolling your hips against his face, trying to take what you need.
Ace moans, sucking your clit into his mouth with a flick of his tongue before releasing it with a smack of lips, “So good for me.” He mutters before going back for another taste, all while groaning in appreciation at your sweet and tangy flavor.
You notice that he eats pussy just as messily as he eats anything else. Wetness smeared on the inside of your thighs, and you’re sure his face must be drenched at this point.
The coil in you is winding tighter and tighter, building to something beautifully intense. His name repeatedly leaving your lips, “Ace, I think I’m gonna cum.” You cry with a foot digging into his back.
The waves are about to crash over you as you feel yourself on the edge. God, if he would just fill you with something, anything at this point. But instead, he pulls back, that infuriating smirk on his face.
“Are you fucking kidding me!” You could cry with how close you were, legs desperately trying to pull him back in. But then a yelp escapes your lips when there’s a brief sensation of heat right where his hands a gripping you. “The fuck!” Quickly pushing him away, hard enough that he falls back against the bar with a laugh, his eyes racking over you.
And you’re quite the sight, chest heaving with little bite marks forming along your neck and on the sweet spots of your thighs. So bare and open for him from the waist down.
But Ace just shrugs, a challenging glint in his eye, “You gotta fight for it.”
Your lips snarl, and you have half a mind to walk out right then and there. But you’re just as wanting as he is, if the bulge in his pants is anything to go by that is.
Ace is all grins when you crouch down in front of him, quick fingers unbuckling his belt and tugging at his pants. He lets you do all the work of working him out of his pants, barely even lifting his ass. The smug bastard can see how desperate you are when you line yourself up over his weeping cock with you own slick drooling as you drag yourself along his shaft.
“Atta girl.” Ace breaths, watching as you impale yourself on him, eyes not once leaving where he’s slowly being buried in your cunt.
“Fuck.” You mutter, feeling him pressing deep and snugly at your furthest point, all while it feels like you’re being split in half. You’re not even sure how it’s possible your hips meet, that you were able to take all of him in one go. A whisper of comfort comes from him while he pets your cheek, trying to quiet your whimpers. But it’s too overwhelming.
“C’mon, that can’t be all you’ve got.” Ace whispers in your ear, nipping at a sensitive spot on your neck. Your hips involuntary rock forward, eliciting a gasp when your clit rubs against his pelvis.
You try to recreate the movement, but it just doesn’t hit the same. Frustrated, your eyes snap to his, “Is that all you’ve got?”
Ace raises a brow, but you just meet his challenged stare with your own defiant one.
A moment later his face splits with a grin, “Alright, but you asked for it.”
A snarky comment is on the tip of your tongue, but not a second sooner is his mouth devouring yours while you’ve been flipped to your back. His hot and thick body pressing into yours and the angle of his cock rubbing against that little spot that has you seeing stars.
His pace is quicker than anything you would have been able to pull off, so you wrap your arms around his neck and hold on as he uses your body for his pleasure.
And he’s ruthless about it, wrapping your legs around his waist and lifting your ass off the sticky bar floor to wreck your tight cunt. Dragging his teeth down your neck, pulling the neckline of your shirt aside so he can get his lips on the tits that have been the stars of his fantasies for many years.
“Ace!” You all but scream when he bites at one of your nipples. There are tears forming in your eyes, being on the tip once again, and god, he better not take this away from you again.
He notices when your movements become a little more desperate, a little sloppier. One of his hands wraps around your shoulders, the other under your ass and he rises to his knees while never stopping his brutal pace.
“That’s it, c’mon, cum for me.” He moans into your shoulder when your fingers dig into his back, undoubtedly leaving little scratches in his skin. And it’s a jarring feeling for you to be solely held up by his strength, to be at his will and mercy.
Fingers scrape up his back to bury in his hair, and you use the opportunity to tug his face towards yours trying to find his lips with your wanting mouth. And then you feel one of his hands sneak around to your clit, running tight circles around the bud with fingers so hot you think you might combust.
He cries out your name when you start to convulse around him, trying to pull you as close as possible while burning you from the inside out when he lets his own pleasure wash over, filling you to the brim with an unnatural warmth you’ve never experienced before.
And his name is a prayer leaving your lips over and over, the aftershocks jolting through you like pleasant waves crashing on a beach.
“Shit.” Ace groans, pulling out from you with a moan as he eases you back on the ground, but you’re too fucked out to really notice, even when he grabs a cloth to wipe down between your legs.
“Mhmmm.” Your eyes flutter closed, “Such a gentlemen.”
Ace grins, peppering kisses along your cheeks, “Thought I lost you there.”
“Not quite.” You answer with a smile and giggle when his lips tickle, “So, pirate expert, how’d I do?”
“Not bad for your first day, but we’ll get you there before you meet the rest of the crew.” He teases, nipping at the underside of your jaw.
“Think they’ll let me join just cause you say so?”
“You help me with this mission I’m on, and they’ll be singing your praise before we even step foot on the Moby Dick.”
His grin is infectious, and the twinkle in his eye stirs excitement in you that you’ve worked so hard to pretend you never needed, “Alright, when do we leave?”

Drink: ( shanks shows up at makino's place/the bar while drunk. apologies in advance, makino )

Drunken riffraff came with the territory of owning a bar. Thankfully, this time it was just one drunk but it was Shanks. The pirate was usually good about his behavior when it came to the liquor, but this wasn't a first time shocker.
She simply gave a tired sigh, watching the druken red-head stumble and fumble around. At least there weren't any bar fights tonight, that would have been another major headache.

It’d been several months since the Red Hair pirates arrived in Foosha Village and you had to admit, you didn’t know your life was so quiet until they came along. You worked with Makino at Party’s Bar, and lately, you went from only seeing a few villagers, to serving at least two hundred drinks a day to a whole crew of pirates.
With the pirates around, life was never really quiet anymore, but they didn’t cause any trouble. If you had to be honest, you got really scared when the fishermen announced pirates coming into the port months ago. But now that you got to know them a bit more, they’d become more like friends than anything else.
Today was a hot summer day and you had to wipe the pearling sweat off your forehead every now and then. You were serving your patrons as usual, not really minding the pair of eyes staring at you from one of the tables.
Benn Beckman was lazily sitting on a chair, sipping on a cold beer and watching you walk around, cleaning the counter and serving drinks. He tried to be reasonable about it, but he didn’t seem to be able to tear his eyes off the beautiful sight he had in front of him.
Slowly over the past few months, he got used to having you around and noticed things he hadn’t before. He noticed how, no matter how many people you had to serve, you always seemed to go as fast as you could, zooming around behind the bar and in between the numerous tables.
He also noticed small things. He noticed how you would redo the knot of your apron every hour or so, making sure to keep it tight around you. He also noticed that you were often touching your hair in some way, either checking the integrity of your hairdo or tucking in a few loose strands. In doing so, he would appreciate with longing eyes the way your back arched as your arms lifted up to your head. He found any of your movement to be so diligent and graceful.
“You’re in trouble…” A red head appeared in his field of view from behind his shoulder as he was still looking at you, the low pitched voice of his captain resonating in his ear.
“What do you mean?” Benn asked, taking a sip of his beer, trying desperately to look away from you.
“You think by that time I can’t recognize that look on your face…?” Shanks replied with a chuckle, sitting on the chair at the other side of the table.
“What look?” Benn growled, finally looking away from you and over at his smiling captain.
“You’re falling for her,” Shanks stated, tilting his head slightly in your direction.
“Don’t be an idiot,” Benn chuckled, taking another seep of his beer. He mindlessly looked at you again from the corner of his eyes, briefly meeting your gaze in the process. He did not expect you to look at him and the surprise made him choke slightly on his beverage.
He hit his chest with a flat hand and stopped the coughing quickly. He started thinking then, staring into space as he wondered if his attraction to you was that visible. If so, did you notice? Did you find it upsetting? After all, he guessed not many young women liked being stared at by old men. Shame started creeping inside his chest as he thought about it, the last thing he wanted to do was make you uncomfortable.
“The internal conflict could be read on his stern face,” Shanks voice started narrating from the other side of the table, making Benn crawl out of his thoughts and look at him. “Could a beautiful young girl fall in love with an old fogey like him…?” he finished, eyes squinting dramatically in mystery.
“Now you’re just being mean,” Benn hissed with a slight laugh, shaking his head at his captain as the latter sat back in his chair to let out a whole-hearted laugh.
__________
You were, as always, very focused on your work. The Red Hair Pirates had come to the bar earlier than usual that day and you had to be quick to serve every thirsty and hungry man. You didn’t have time to mind anything else really. Once things calmed down slightly and Makino came back behind the bar, you allowed yourself a little break. You stared into space as you slowly wiped a couple of glasses clean with a white rag.
Lately you found your eyes wandering more and more towards a particular figure in the room. Shanks’ first mate was a very tall and well-built man. His presence couldn’t go unnoticed wherever he went, at least not to you. You found yourself looking at him more and more. And every time you did so, something in your chest told you it wasn’t just a mindless habit.
“So when are you gonna tell him?” A sweet voice whispered in your ear, startling you out of your daydream. You turned you head slightly to look at Makino.
“Tell what, to whom?” you asked, feigning ignorance. A smile bent the corner of her lips and she raised her eyebrows.
“Benn…” she whispered playfully. You heart skipped a beat at the name. You scolded yourself silently for your lack of discretion when it came to that matter. But there was still a way to make her drop it… maybe?
“In your dreams,” you scoffed, rolling your eyes slightly. You put the glass you just cleaned down on the counter just as Luffy’s small silhouette walked in front of the bar. You watched him jump up to reach a stool and rest his elbows of the counter.
“Can I get apple juice, please?” He said politely, briefly looking over a Makino, asking for a silent confirmation that it was the proper way to ask for something. She smiled at him.
“Sure!” You said, opening a bottle of juice and filling the glass in front of you. The object was definitely a bit big for him and he had to hold it with both hands. He drank quickly, thanking you politely after putting the glass down.
Your eyes started wandering again towards the first mate. He was talking to his captain, his bust turned to him. Your eyes briefly landed on the riffle leaning against the back of the chair. This sight in combination with the way his arms moved when he talked made something ignite in you. This man exuded power and strength and for a moment a deep sadness filled your chest as you wondered if a man so wise and strong could care about a simple girl like you.
“Come on, I see you staring…” Makino’s voice brought you back to reality again and you quickly pretended to look somewhere else.
“I don’t stare!” you stated, widening your eyes at her and looking briefly over at him. He looked back at you and suddenly you saw him choking on his beer, coughing loudly. You turned to Makino. She seemed like a nice, quiet girl to everyone but you knew better, and she was currently adorning a sly smile.
That girl was always trying to get you with a man, and those past few months, Benn’s presence was the perfect excuse for her. She leaned in again, talking as quietly as possible so you were the only one to hear what she was about to say.
“When is it that you’re gonna finally… you know… make the beast with two backs?” she asked with a laugh and raised eyebrows, making heat immediately rise to your face as colorful images invaded your mind. You could see him laying on top of you, towering over your body and taking you slowly and lovingly.
“That’s impossible! How can a beast have two backs?” Luffy yelled, dragging you out of your sinful thoughts, and turning everyone’s attention to you in the process, especially Shanks’ and Benn’s.
“Don’t worry about it Luffy…” Makino started laughing as you quickly made your way to the back room, your chest heavy with embarrassment.
__________
It was another day at the bar, the pirates were still here and drinking their fill. You were tending to the bar as Makino waited the tables. You had just finished cleaning the surface of the counter when two strong arms appeared in your field of view, resting on the light varnished wood. You lifted your head only to find Benn in front of you. You swallowed a lump in your throat as he started speaking.
“Hey…” he said quietly.
“Hey, can I get you anything? Refill maybe?” you asked politely, pointing at his empty mug, reminding yourself of you duty. You avoided eye contact at all cost to try and keep your composure.
“Can I buy you a drink?” he asked timidly, craning his neck to try and find your eyes with his. You looked back in slight surprise, not expecting him to want to offer you anything. You chuckled, it being the only reasonable response your body could give in this moment.
“Ah… never on the job, sorry…” you said sincerely, looking at him in the eyes. You were never close enough to him to notice how deep the color of his eyes was. The sight made your heart flutter.
“Something non-alcoholic then?” he insisted carefully, spreading his hands in question. You mechanically looked over at Makino, who was discreetly observing the whole scene from afar, suddenly giving you a quick thumbs up and a smile.
“Alright, fine,” you said, his face lighting up slightly as you took a glass out from under the bar and filled in with colorful juice.
“I’ll take the refill, thank you so much,” he said and you took his mug to refill it, laying it back down in front of him with a thud.
You took a moment to lean on the counter in front of him, seeping on your sugary beverage. You both stood there is silence at first, not really knowing what to say to each other. You ignited from inside as you realized maybe that man cared about you a little.
“So, how’s your day?” He suddenly broke the silence, his voice still a little timid.
“Pretty quiet so far, it’s nice,” you replied with a smile. You saw his eyes shift to look at your mouth as you did so and suddenly you felt the need to hide away.
Your eyes adverted to look at the room over Benn’s shoulder, which made him turn around as well. Every single member of the crew had now turned in your direction and stopped chatting. The silence was heavy and you looked for Makino who you found standing beside Shanks as he was reclined in his chair. Both of them wore the same playful smile on their lips and you rolled your eyes.
“Hum… maybe we could… find somewhere more private…?” he asked shyly, turning to you again. You gave a questioning look at Makino and she nodded.
“You can take fifteen,” she called from the table where she was standing.
You and Benn slowly slipped away and out of the bar under dozens of curious eyes. Once out of the place, you decided to take a stroll around the village. You chatted about his life as a pirate for a little bit. A comfortable silence spread between you from time to time and you liked it too.
It had probably been more than thirty since you’d exited the bar and Benn stopped walking and turned to you. You could see his chest rise as he took a deep breath.
“Listen, you’re probably not interested in men like me, but… I like you a lot…” His words made your eyebrows raise. This was so quick and sudden, you had to take time to process his statement. First of all, how could he think you were not interested when you spent more break time than you were allowed chatting and walking with him? And second of all, he really did like you…
“I might not be interested in ‘men like you’, whatever that means…” you said, your gaze finding his eyes only to see sadness taint their beautiful color, “but I’m interested in you,” you finished, taking his hand in yours and squeezing slightly. His eyes brightened again and you smiled. Maybe he wasn’t so wise when it came to things like this, was he?
“Would you like us to get to know each other, maybe?” he proceeded to ask, scratching the back of his neck. You chuckled. You had spent most of your days with these pirates in these past few months, you weren’t exactly acquaintances anymore.
“We already know a lot about each other, don’t we?” you said quietly, he nodded. “But not everything, I suppose, so… why not?” you finished, squeezing his hand lightly.
“Alright then,” he let out in a breath. You wanted to lean into him in that moment, you wanted to kiss him on the cheek, on the lips, anywhere. But your restrained yourself, letting go of his hand.
“I gotta go back, Makino is probably waiting for me,” you said as an excuse. He nodded and walked with you back to the bar.
Miraculously, no one said anything when you walked back into the room full of his crew mates. Even Makino left you alone for the rest of your shift, only asking you how it went when you were closing the place for the night.
From then on, you and Benn talked more and more. He also came to sit at the bar more often and you could see him smiling to you from across the room from time to time. You always responded, smiling back at him. With days passing, he could see the look you gave him fill with desire and it didn’t help him sleep at night, his mind plagued by images of you lying down naked under him or straddling his hips.
__________
One night, you finally found it in you to make a move. By that time, you were burning with desire for him and you couldn’t ignore the blatant truth any longer. You had been staring at him all day long, replaying the same scenario in your mind over and over, the same images of him filling your mind.
You were alone to close the bar that night. The Red Hair Pirates had drunk all day long and where now about to continue their partying on their ship. You finished cleaning the last of the remaining glasses and mugs as they slowly made their way out of the bar.
The last ones to exit were Shanks and Benn. You stepped outside and locked the door as Shanks started making his way to the port. Benn only made sure you managed to close the establishment safely before following behind his captain.
You surprised yourself when you took a few steps towards the tall man and grabbed his arm. He jumped slightly and turned around, ready to say something. You quickly put your index finger to your lips, silently pleading him not to make a noise.
He briefly looked back at his captain and let you lead him the opposite way. You held his hand firmly as you quickly made your way back to your house. He looked a little stunned the whole time but kept following you. Finally, you reached your home, frantically opening the door and sneaking him inside as quickly as possible.
As soon as the door was closed and you found yourself in the dark, you crushed your lips to his. He gathered his thoughts quickly and kissed you back, wrapping his arms around your waist and holding you close to his body. The feeling of his tall figure pressed against you was enough to make you moan in the kiss, it was even better than anticipated.
He cupped your face with his hand as you pulled away slightly, trying to catch your breath. You couldn’t believe this was happening, you had longed for his touch for so long now, it didn’t even feel real.
“I want you so bad,” he whispered, his hot breath brushing your slightly parted lips. His thumb caressed your cheek as his eye bore into yours. You could barely see him in the dark, his strong features only lit by the faint moonlight.
“Take me,” was the only thing you could mutter as your eyes filled with lust. He leaned in again to kiss you, deeper this time, his tongue soon playing with yours. A fire ignited inside you then, suddenly wanting his mouth all over you.
Not parting from the kiss, you took off your shoes. He broke away and did the same so you could quickly take him to your room, still holding his hand in yours, as if he would vanish the moment you stopped touching him.
You sat him on the edge of your bed, which seemed so tiny compared to his huge body, the mattress dipping slightly under his weight. A surge of pride and passion traveled through your body and you were bold enough to climb onto his lap, straddling him and taking his face in your hands to kiss him again.
He held your hips in his firm grip, the hem of your dress raising up slightly with the movements of his fingers. You started swaying against him mechanically, trying to feel something, anything that could satisfy your desire.
You whined as your core brushed over his covered erection. You heard him growl deep in his throat and you moved your hips again, eliciting another noise from him. You smiled, breaking away from his lips to quickly take off your dress.
Your back arched with the movement of your arms lifting to take the garment off and he felt himself twitch in his pants, the same sight having plagued his mind for weeks. Only this time it was even better as you were naked in front of him. He paused for a second to explore your body with his eyes and hands, his callous fingers brushing over the sensitive skin of your back.
You felt heat rise to your face as you watched him stare at you, suddenly feeling self-conscious under his gaze. His eyes went from your legs to your stomach and to your naked breasts. His fingers came from your waist up your back and he used his thumbs to brush the side of your breasts lightly.
Suddenly, his mouth was on one of them, warm lips wrapping around the areola and hot tongue brushing over the nipple lightly. You moaned loudly, not expecting such attention from him. You closed your eyes, wrapping your arms around his head as you relished in the feeling.
He made you pant loudly with his ministrations and continued to tease you by moving his mouth to the other breast. Your hips bucked impossibly quickly against his and he thought you might make him cum here and there.
He let go of your nipple with a wet pop and buried his face in the crook of your neck, breathing heavily against your skin.
“Careful, you’re gonna make me lose my mind…” he breathed and you chuckled.
You playfully and rubbed yourself harder against him, making him growl in sheer pain as he felt his hard cock press against his pants. Your hands quickly came up to his belt, fiddling with it for a bit and finally managing to untie it and unbutton his pants.
You climbed off of him, letting him get a taunting view of your soaked underwear, triggering a new wave of desire in him. He groaned and moved quickly to remove his shirt. You watched the muscles in his chest contract as you knelt in front of him to take off his pants and underwear all at once.
Your eyes widened at the sight of his hard cock slipping free from its confines and he chuckled. Your gaze soon filled with hunger as you approached him again, taking place in between his legs and grasping him in your hand.
He couldn’t believe his eyes as he watched you tentatively lick the tip of his penis. He let out a strangled moan at the welcome touch and fell back on the mattress behind him, only able to support himself with his elbows.
“Don’t be shy, girl, come up here,” he managed to say with a laugh and a flick of his fingers. You were slowly sucking the tip in your mouth when you pulled away, making him regret his words as your warmth left him.
But it was only a matter of time. You stood up slowly, making a show or removing your underwear, the last thing that covered your body from his blazing eyes. He lied down on the soft mattress with a groan at the sight you were offering him, remnants of doubt still lingering in his mind. How could a girl like you offer her body to an old pirate like him?
He didn’t have time to reminisce further as he felt you climb up on the bed, straddling him again, only this time your back facing him. He welcomed your body onto his by squeezing your hips with his strong hands, moving you just the right way so he could face your behind.
You suddenly felt regret seep into your body as shame tainted your determination. You realized, as you leaned in to take his cock back in your mouth, that he was now face to face with your dripping pussy and you couldn’t fathom the sight it might be for him.
You heard him chuckle, his voice hoarse with desire and you tried to calm your racing heart. As you started licking your way up his shaft to the tip of his penis, you felt his hands drag your hips lower. You took his cock in your hot mouth right as he brushed his tongue along your wet slit, making you both moan in unison.
He suddenly felt like a thirsty man in a desert as he couldn’t help but move his tongue frantically against you, tasting your fluids and making you unravel in his hands. Your smell and taste were overwhelming and his cock was twitching rapidly in your mouth.
The pleasure he gave you made you bolder and you took as much of him as you could in your mouth. He groaned deeply when he hit the back of your throat and had to keep himself from thrusting up into it. Instead, he focused on your pleasure and brought his hand to your core, testing how wet you were by inserting a finger inside you. The friction made you moan again around his cock and he continued thrusting into you, easily adding a second finger and finding your sensitive spot.
The more pleasure he gave you, the more he received from you and he felt himself get closer and closer to orgasm by the second. He had to do something about it, there was no way he would only cum in your mouth tonight.
His hands left your hips only to grip your upper-arms and pull you back up, making his cock leave your mouth with obscene wet noises. You were surprised and turned slightly to look at his face, wiping the spit off your chin with a chuckle, trying to catch your breath.
“You really wanted me to lose it, uh?” he said in between breaths.
“I want to taste your cum so bad,” you retorted with a breathy voice, earning a stunned look on his face as his cock desperately twitched in the air at your words. He groaned and let his head fall back again.
“What’s wrong, you can’t handle me, old man…?” you taunted, turning around on him to straddle his chest, bringing your hand to your sex and teasing your clit lightly with your fingers. Your provocation ignited something in him and he lifted you to his face again, pressing his tongue into your wet cunt as your fingers kept working on your clit.
He managed to match your pace perfectly, slowing down or speeding up as you did and soon you found yourself on the edge of orgasm. You started bucking your hips and pressing yourself onto his face, moaning and soon crying out in pleasure.
“Cum on my face, I want to taste you,” your heard him mutter in between your thrusts. Your own words used against you made you tip over the edge with a loud cry of pure heated pleasure, riding your orgasm on his face.
You slowly stopped moving, propping yourself on trembling arms as you came down from your high. You moaned weakly when he pushed two fingers into your oversensitive sex only to feel your walls spasm around them.
“Who’s handling who now…?” He growled from his place between your legs and you laughed.
“Shut up and fuck me already,” you retorted and he didn’t need to hear anything else from you to flip you around and lay you down onto your pillows. He waited a little before doing anything though, just the time for you to fully calm down.
He slowly crawled up the bed to rest his hips in between your thighs and you cupped his face to kiss him again. He lined himself with your entrance and slowly thrust his hips forward, burying himself to the hilt into your dripping pussy, making you both moan lazily.
“You’re so wet,” he whispered against your lips. You moaned again, still feeling the effects of your previous orgasm as he thrust back and forth into you. A lazy, painfully slow pace was the only way he could make love to you without coming inside you immediately. You were tight and hot around him, the feeling was wonderfully overwhelming.
“Do you think you could cum for me one more time, girl?” he asked, kissing and licking all the sensitive spots of your neck and shoulders, still thrusting inside you. You moaned and bucked your hips in rhythm, finding blissful pleasure when you managed to rub your clit on the hard muscles of his stomach. He must have felt in and pushed harder against you with each thrust.
Soon you were screaming his name, your wall getting impossibly tight around his cock. This was the feeling he wanted to experience tonight, he wanted to cum deep inside you as you came around his cock, and he did.
With a grunt, he spilt his seed deep inside, some of it already spilling out as his thrusts became more erratic. When he couldn’t hold himself up any longer, he laid down onto you and you welcomed his tired body in your warm embrace.
You didn’t move for some time after that, unable to use your muscles and not wanting to part away from each other. When you started to shiver slightly, Benn moved from atop your body and you both slipped under the covers. You curled up against him and fell asleep rapidly, being drained of all your energy.
You managed to make love one more time as dawn crept through your closed curtains. It was lazy and slow but passionate and loving. After that, you both stayed awake, making out slowly under the covers until you realized you were late for your day.
Benn laughed as he watched you run around, grabbing random clothes and doing your best to hide your disheveled look. He walked with you back to the bar, or rather walked behind you as your practically ran. You expressed your concern to him, saying how it was way too suspicious if people of his crew saw you walk into the bar together.
“Don’t worry, they’re probably still on that ship, trying to get rid of their hangover…” he replied with a chuckle and you let go of the thought.
Upon opening the door of Party’s bar, though, you came face to face with the whole crew and Makino, practically waiting for you both as all of them without exception were looking at you with knowing smiles spread over their faces. In that moment, you really wished you had called in sick and stayed in bed.

¨I have to say, not a usual place for a Vice Admiral to enjoy a vacation.¨ a smirk bent your lips as you heard the playful voice of the man who courted you with another drink.
¨Well, I´m no usual Vice Admiral.¨
¨No one doubts that.¨ He put the sword on the table and pulled a chair, sitting close to you. ¨You have grown, Y/N.¨
¨You have aged.¨
¨Oi, not very nice. You hurt my feelings.¨ the red-haired placed the hand on his chest, over the heart, faking an offended tone.
¨Mission accomplished.¨
You stared at each other for about four seconds before breaking into laughter. As always, Shanks was louder, banging his fist on the wooden table and vocalizing his amusement to anyone who had ears to hear.
¨It´s been a long time, Y/N.¨ he wheezed, still recovering from his overreaction.
¨Yes, it has, Red hair.¨
¨Red hair? Really? I mean, you tried to kill me way too many times already. You gotta call me by my name.¨ You chuckled, sipping your drink. ¨Especially when you´re at my house.¨
You grinned, shaking your head and biting your lip. Of course, the bastard would not let this opportunity slip.
After years of non-stop hard work, you received a few weeks off duty. That meant that the world could split open, the moons could fall into the atmosphere followed by the sun, and you would not have to move a single finger.
Issho-san would handle that better in any way.
You had any place in the world to moor, a stable and safe summer paradise somewhere in the South Blue, or you could visit the winter island where cherry blossoms painted the freezing horizon pink. The world was on the menu, and yet you chose to break into a Yonko territory.
However, the Yonko in question was more than just an Emperor of the Sea. Your lives entangled at a very young age when the Pirate King was still alive, and Garp had melanin left in his hair.
You were just two snotty brats fighting your Captains´ battles.
¨Anyway,¨ he chugged his drink and asked for another one. ¨I missed you in Marineford.¨
¨Well, I guess I missed Marineford myself. Had a good view, though.¨ you answered nonchalantly.
¨What do you mean?¨
¨I had an underling transmit me the whole thing.¨
¨Isn´t that handy?¨
You tried not to laugh. It was stupid, but every time you had Shanks and hand in the same sentence, you felt the urge to laugh.
¨I wanted to see Luffy.¨ you said.
¨Why not go there, then?¨
¨Duty called somewhere else.¨ you shrugged. ¨Besides, I would have been no help for him.¨
¨You´re saying you wouldn´t help him?¨ Shanks carried a suspicious tone in his voice.
¨Of course I wouldn't help him.¨ You took a sip of your drink. ¨But thanks... for stopping that madness.¨
The man casually stretched his arms above his head, tilting his head back, enjoying the warm sun.
¨No biggie. You owe me another one, and we should be fine.¨ he smiled.
¨Who´s counting?¨
¨I am.¨
¨I already stopped hunting you, Shanks. Isn´t that enough?¨
¨Not on my book, Y/N.¨
For a long portion of your life, you had a personal mission to give the Red Hair the same fate as his Captain. Whenever his crew was located, you would be the one hunting them. No one dared to tell you otherwise.
By that time, you had no significant position. Maybe a Lieutenant, Captain tops. But being related to the Hero of the Marines, well, that granted you some free passes, and as long as you could hand Shanks´head in a tray, a little nepotism didn´t bother you.
Actually, although everyone saw you as Garp´s relative, you were just his first protegé, his first rescued dog. Apparently, the highly ranked officers were going through boring times and decided to pay their dues by doing charity.
The only one you got to know was Sengoku´s kid. Rosinante was his name. To this very day, you could not think of him without the twist in your heart.
Even you didn´t know how to describe it, and honestly, you didn´t care. Was the job done at the end of the day? Good.
That was all that mattered until another pawn entered the game, a very troublesome one, by the way. Slept like a rock and ate all your food. You couldn´t help but fall in love with little Monkey D. Luffy.
He was the one to give you the answer you had stopped looking for a while ago.
In order to be his older sister, you had to be Garp´s granddaughter. Everyone loved the idea, except for the man himself.
You were as keen as Garp to make Luffy become a great Marine. You bought him tailor-made marine onesies and shared stories about the seas. Whenever he spotted you approaching with the leather book in your hands, he would get restless.
The onesies, however, those never lasted. They were thrown in a boiling dumpster altogether with your dream of him joining you in a job one day.
The sun was about to set, and you had just returned from a long and intricate mission when you received a call from Makino saying that Luffy had gotten into some trouble.
Not only that, The Red Hair Pirates were somehow involved. It was all you heard before hanging off the den den mushi and hopping in a Marine ship, headed to Foosha Village.
The idea of Shanks causing Luffy any pain or just giving him a hard time made you turn into a beast. But your bloodshot eyes were washed clean by the image of your brother, safe and sound, hanging out with Red Hair, who seemed rather... different.
¨Why would you do that?! What do you want, Red Hair?!¨
A lot of things went through your head, but none of them could explain why a pirate, why him, would sacrifice his arm to save Luffy. There was no way he didn´t know about your little brother´s connections.
¨I want to pay you a drink. But only if you stop yelling.¨
With a swing of his hand and a smile, Makino appeared with a jug of beer before you could spit fire on him again.
¨They´ve been really good at keeping Luffy entertained this past year, Y/N-san.¨ she said, kind as usual, before leaving.
You sighed and took a seat by his side.
¨Why did you do that?¨
¨I bet on his life. Just that. Why is that a problem? You don´t want to feel grateful for a pirate?¨
Your grip tightened around the cold glass, teeth clenching and knuckles turning white.
¨No.¨
Gratitude was never the problem. You would be grateful to anyone who risked their lives for Luffy, but he... you needed to hate him. But no matter how much you tried, you couldn´t get yourself to do it.
¨I don´t want you thinking that I owe you anything.¨
¨You don´t have to owe me anything, Y/N. But we´ve known each other for a while now, so... we both know that you will.¨
His lips turned into an honest smile, no teasing behind it, and you wished not to have your heart beating faster for it.
¨You don´t kn-¨
¨Y/N!¨ Luffy entered the bar, running to you with the brightest of the smiles on his face.¨Are you done? I have to show you something!¨ he asked, pulling the fabric of your coat.
¨Oi, behave Luffy, I´ll be done in-¨
¨Nooo!¨ he pouted before turning to the opposite side and pulling one of his impish grins ¨Look what I can do! Gomu gomu no...¨
His tiny hand balled into a fist, which you watched stretch all the way to the opposite side of the room before coming back and hitting him in the face.
Did his arm just...
The air froze in the room. You blinked a couple of times, hearing a few gasps around the bar, your gaze fixed in the same place his hand was seconds ago.
¨Luffy-kun, why don´t you come outside with me?¨ Makino extended her hand for him to take. ¨I´ll bring some meat.¨
The kid screamed in excitement and followed her, drool dripping down his chin.
So close, Shanks. So close. He thought, lowering his head on the counter and waiting to get chewed up. However, after a few unscathed seconds, the red-haired lifted his head, almost not believe his eyes.
That was the first and last time you bowed to a pirate.
Of course, later on, you punched him for letting Luffy eat a Devil Fruit.
You swore to leave him and his crew alone, as long as they did not cause bigger problems, which they eventually did, but you had a debt you could never pay, and you ended up focusing on other things.
Those things made it difficult for you to visit Luffy as much as you wanted, but since Garp had sent him to live with Dadan, you could sleep with a clean consciousness.
Whenever you paid him visits, he would tell you about these other kids, whom he considered brothers. One you got to meet, Sabo, smart and polite. The other, however, ran from you like you were a freaking plague.
Ace, another one with whom you had an inestimable debt.
¨Humor me, Y/N. If not Foosha, why here?¨
You shrugged.
¨I was passing by, and the place seemed quite enjoyable.¨
¨Hm.¨ the wind blew stronger, turning the gentle swishing of the palm trees into a harsher rustling. ¨Should I get my men ready for a conflict?¨
¨Relax, Shanks. Right now, this is the safest place on earth.¨
¨What do you mean?¨ he asked, genuinely curious.
¨Oh, come on.¨ you scoffed. ¨Not even the World Government will try to put their hands on you, and I´ll kill anyone who dares to ruin my vacation.¨
¨What about you, Y/N? Will you try to put your hands on me?¨
His gaze was heavy on you, conquering aura filling the place. You looked at him with narrowed eyes and a smirk growing on your lips.
This guy...
You harnessed the moment to take in his features, a lot more mature than you remembered. Although the scars were deeper and he seemed more tired, his hair shone like fresh blood, and his eyes... you were afraid to drown in them.
¨What would you do if I decided to put my hands on you?¨ you bit your lip. ¨I heard you´ve been terrorizing some kids lately.¨
¨Gotta give them a run for their bounties, right?¨ He laughed. ¨But I also heard some interesting things about you, Y/N.¨
You raised your eyebrows as if you were encouraging him to tell you more.
¨Apparently, I´m not the only one spending recreational time with young pirates. And there I thought Marines weren´t supposed to hunt Warlords of the Sea.¨
A shiver ran down your body, already aware of the subject he was about to bring up.
¨Well, I have no idea what you´re talking about.¨ You said, giving him your best oblivious eyelash bat.
¨Oh yeah? Because it was brought to my attention that you made some business with... what´s his name again?¨ he pretended exaggeratedly to think about it ¨Ah, Trafalgar Law.¨
¨Only time I spoke to him, he was a Warlord as well. And I just wanted to thank him for helping Luffy in Marineford.¨
¨You´re gonna start lying to me at this point of our relationship?¨ Shanks teased to eager a bit of the tension, and a scoff left your mouth.
¨First, you´re delusional. Second, you´re too nosey for your own good.¨
The two of you laughed along like you were not natural enemies.
¨Did you get to meet Luffy in Dressrosa? Heard they made an alliance.¨
¨Hm, yeah. But no, couldn´t get myself to do it.¨
You frowned, hurting for have had your little brother so close but not being brave enough to approach him. Good thing he had no idea about your presence in the scene, and you could trust Law´s discretion to keep it that way.
¨He doesn´t hate you, you know.¨
¨Yeah, I know...¨
That was true. Luffy didn´t hate you for not helping him in Marienford, just like he didn´t hate Garp for standing in his way. He had too big of a heart for that.
Shanks let you have your time in silence, empathizing with your feelings. He too had to make sacrifices by standing his ground before.
¨What now?¨ he asked.
¨What now?¨
¨Garp is retired. Joker is down. What´s holding you back?¨
The air got stuck in your lungs. The reality you had been running from, the question for which you postponed to find an answer.
When Garp took you in, the alternatives available for you were restricted, to say the very least. It was either accept the kindness of a stranger or die. He taught you his trade and molded you into one of the best-skilled marines.
As the time passed and you learned the ugly truth behind the World Government, the disgust and disbelief made you want to leave. Fortunately, your life was not stained by the passage of a Celestial Dragon, but how were you supposed to protect them, aware of the atrocities they afflicted to people?
At the same time, how could you leave Garp after everything he did for you? Of course, he would survive if you disappointed him that much, but you owed him your life.
What made you stay, however, was something much less pleasant than a lifetime debt. Thirteen years ago, evil prevailed, and you lost something really important. Or rather, someone.
Commander Donquixote Rosinante. Marine code 01746.
He had a sense of justice like no one else. He was strong, honest, and fair. Did he make you want to pull your hair out every time he lit himself on fire? Yes. Did it bother you to have stains on your tatami because he dropped hot tea on it? Yes. He possessed the ability to get you on your nerves, but he was your family.
You were supposed to be the greatest.
Long story short, that night, at Swallow Island, you left with more than just his dead body. You inherited his will.
You swore to take down the man responsible for shortening his life, and hopefully, in a later day, you could meet the little boy about whom he spoke so highly.
It took you thirteen years. No more ties of the past, no more strings on you.
Well, just one, if you were to be entirely honest with yourself. A string of a stupid tale, a nonsense legend, a foolish myth. The Thread of Destiny, supposed to connect two people together. They say the thread may stretch or tangle, but it shall never break.
Bullshit. There´s no such a thing.
But assuming that there was, why did you feel that if you pulled it to its very end, what you would find would be red as well?
Red as the vest Luffy wore diligently; red as the nose of a cranky apprentice; red as the pompous sails of the Oro Jackson; red as the locks of the man capable of stopping wars with words.
Would you dare to be anything else? Could you step out of your own life like this? Could you abandon everything you fought for all these years?
¨You know, I´ve said it in the past, but I´ll say it again. We could use someone like you in our crew.¨
You gave him a two-second smirky scoff before frowning again.
Were you worthy enough to owe yourself the chance to choose? What did it mean, the justice coat of a Vice Admiral you carried so proud on your shoulders?
If piracy took a lot from you in the past, could piracy, or a pirate, give you everything back?
¨Y/N?¨
¨Hm?¨ You hummed, gaze locked on the lethargic view.
Hot puffs of air played with your hair and involved your skin in a warm hug. You could hear the gentle sound of the waves crashing on the shore, coastal birds cooing and the wind whistling over the rocks.
¨Do you think, maybe, one day... I could ask you out?¨
No matter how many times you rewound the tape, you couldn´t find a different answer, a plausible reason for the burning feeling you held for him, whatever that meant.
From the first time you put your eyes on each other, a contract was opened without even a handshake. A deal was set without your acknowledgment. An ironic fate tied you to the same string.
¨Yeah... maybe.¨

Yes! Some male reader stuff! How about some nice and easy (bc I feel embarrassed lmaoo) just Monster Trio with a Male s/o! Little random ideas that you have lol. I don’t really mind if it dosent follow a story!
The Monster Trio With A Male! S/O
Tumblr media
A/N : haha, don’t be. Thanks for requesting, and hopefully in the future, you have some more specific requests in mind. :DD hope you like this.
note : these are pretty general relationship headcannons. These are also short and quick, so I’m sorry ;-; hopefully, next time, you can give some more.. specific details? 😅😣
Summary : what life would be like if the monster trio had a male significant other.
-
Luffy
Luffy does not give a shit about your gender.
He really doesn’t. He just wants someone who can share the same energy as him and be strong, willing to put your life on the line.
He just loves the danger and loves someone who’s willing to challenge life and death with him.
Luffy hadn’t really thought about having a significant other, so he didn’t really think of a preference of gender, but then again, to him, it didn’t matter. Does it matter what gender you are? As long as you love the person, it’s fine and it doesn’t matter.
So when you admit to him your crush on him, he’s a bit dense of course, so he says the same until you clarify what you mean. When you do, Luffy comes to a realization and thinks a bit. Makino had told him confessions like these were important, so he decides to confess to you properly.
And properly.. in Luffy’s way. Which is him, standing on the Sunny’s head and facing the upper deck where the whole crew sat, and he shouts at the top of his lungs. He’d be staring at you as he shouts to the world that he wants you to be his. That he accepts your confession and he wants to be with you as well.
Regardless of your reaction or the crew’s, Luffy would just laugh and have a wide grin across his face as he hops down to in front of you and wraps his arms around you, his smile becoming softer and warmer.
He’d place his hat over your head and ignore the shouts and grins of the others towards him and his action and become so cheery when you thank him and hold his hand or something, however you react—
To Luffy, the benefits of having a male significant other, is that you two can bathe together without worrying about.. bodies being seen. Of course, only if you’re comfortable with it, but he likes bathing with you.
His favorite activity though, is just playing pranks on Usopp and Chopper, even Zoro, together. Just playing jokes and making each other laugh by doing stupid things with each other whilst getting reprimanded by Nami for being loud and messing around too much.
And he loves exploring. He’s naturally curious about most things, so when the crew comes to a new island, the first thing he does and wrap an arm around you and jump off to run into what he hopes is a new adventure.
But then again, anything that he gets to do with you and learning new cool things is always an adventure to him. As long as he gets to spend time with you anyhow, makes him joyful and happy. :D
“*inhales* [NAME]! I ACCEPTING YOUR CONFESSION! I LOVE YOU! I WANT YOU TO BE MINE AND BE WITH ME, WHEN I BE THE KING OF THE PIRATES! *exhales*”
-
Sanji
Honestly, Sanji would be the most.. iffy? About being in a homosexual relationship. But after quite a bit of bonding and actually getting to know you, Sanji would be head over heels.
At first, Sanji would question himself a bit, since he’s always grown to love women, so this change is sudden and overwhelming for him.
Then he might question you a bit, because he naturally assumes that all men would like females like him, but he doesn’t judge.
When he hears about your interest in men, or even your crush on Sanji, he becomes a bit flustered and extremely confused and avoids you at times.
But soon enough, the support and assurance from both you and his crewmates will let him know that this is okay and you’ll be there waiting when he’s ready.
Eventually, Sanji becomes pretty glad to have a male significant other. Like Luffy and Zoro, his instinct tells him that since you’re a man, you’re quite strong and he’s glad he doesn’t have to worry too much about you getting hurt,
But that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t drop everything for you. If he sees even a scratch on your, asses are getting kicked with his diable Jambé.
His way of confessing when he finally gets the courage, of course, is during the night, where he can really just enjoy his time with you and give you a candlelit dinner before taking a stroll around the ship, or around the coast of an island they docked at.
He’ll apologize for thinking and taking so long, before pulling your hand to his lips and admitting his admiration for you and list all of your amazing traits and even the flaws that he adores.
Sanji would treat you as he does with every woman, maybe even more or even less. He’s not afraid to stand beside you and tell everyone you’re his. Sanji loves you.
He loves to teach you cooking, and seeing you wear his apron when he’s teaching makes his heart beat quicker, because it’s so cute. If anyone even dares to tease you about it, he’s going to kick ass before you can even blink.
Actually, Sanji would be even more glad to have a male significant other, because you would be like his best friend too. With women, he feels like he has to constantly be showing affection for them,
But with a male, with you, Sanji can actually be comfortable and enjoy long talks and jokes late at night together. He can just share a cup of tea or two with you and talk all night about anything and just truly be close and comfortable with one another, instead of how he acts with women.
“I feel like I can talk about anything with you. You make me feel comforted, safe and loved. Thank you for choosing and being with me, even if I took a while to take in your confession.”
-
Zoro
Zoro doesn’t give a damn about your gender either, he’s just never thought about it. His mind is never on a relationship, but his goal, his swords, his sake, and sleep.
So when it comes to having a significant other, a male one at that, he doesn’t give it much thought so he doesn’t really care.
but I will say, he does like having a male significant other.
He understands both men and women are extremely strong, you can’t compare the two genders, but seeing you and having a male s/o reassures him just how tough you are and sees it as a challenge, especially if you’re willing to spar with him.
Training sessions are a breeze, depending on your personality. If you’re a fighter, he does not hold back a bit, and he doesn’t want you to either. He’s going all out and if he loses? He’s annoyed at first before he finds it as a challenge and several more rounds happen after that.
If you’re not so much of a fighter, Zoro respects that but you have to be somewhat strong right? Otherwise Luffy wouldn’t really have invited you on board... if you need help and want to train, Zoro is there. He doesn’t go easy on you at all, but he encourages you in his own way, the best he can.
Zoro would confess to you bluntly, while you two are out patrolling or out hunting for whatever on a island the crew comes by. The two of you would be alone and he’d just say it.
Of course, he may also be awkward about it since he’s actually committing into a relationship, and he doesn’t talk about the details, he just straight up confesses, and the two of you are together.
Zoro actually rather likes having a male significant other, because one, he’s not quite.. good with ladies. He’d be awkward, unsure of what to say but with a guy, he feels more comfortable and relaxed.
He’d love sharing a cup of sake and just drinking and talking the night away, cracking jokes whilst sitting by the window or just out in the open air late at night. If he’s really drunk, you’ll find him talking about some deep stuff with you, and maybe professing his admiration and love for you. DON’T mention it in the morning.
Zoro’s favorite activity with you would probably be attacking enemies, if it wasn’t sleeping. Just any time the crew comes cross an enemy, you and Zoro are side by side and brutally slicing or knocking them down swiftly. Partners in crime, always up first to volunteer to take care of it.
Although Zoro does enjoy having the fun time to himself, he enjoys it even more doing it with you, because you two really compliment and work with each other, which he loves. It’s always a fun workout and challenge for you both, and plus, he’d make a bet on it, on who takes down the most.
“You up for a challenge, [Name]? There’s about 50 of them. It’s winter, so how about the loser sleeps on deck without any warmth?”
you take the challenge and either way, you’re both going to sleep together with a blanket anyways—
-
A/N : hope you enjoyed!! :DD I’m sorry if this is a bit messed up or like, not what you wanted / expected.. sorry for the delay too ;-;
This was pretty difficult. Ngl, because these seem more gender-neutral than male, 😅 so I’m really sorry.

I wrote the first draft of this story for a zine that never happened, so I decided to revise, expand, and finally publish it for the “first meeting” prompt on my card of the One Piece Bingo organized by @op-pirate-fleet. My nakama (The-Replicant), suggested me the ASL secret code, and @starblazer124 kindly beta-read the old version of this story. I may write more fanfics based on this alternate timeline, but you can read this one shot as a standalone.  ^^
The Marine Recruit and the Kind Pirate (Marine Headquarters, one month ago) That morning, Bell-mère had not expected to be summoned by the Vice-Admiral.   Even less, she had expected a twelve-year-old rookie like herself to be assigned a mission of the utmost secrecy. At the age of twelve, she wasn’t even a sailor yet but just a rookie. She always took her tasks seriously, though, so she prepared her sack immediately: in a few days, she would set sail to a small kingdom in the East Blue.   My very first mission.  The young girl grinned with confidence, grabbed a tangerine from her personal supply, and peeled it while humming to herself. --- (Goa Kingdom, present time) “I’ll leave her to you then!”   “Don’t worry about anything. I’ll keep this a secret.”   Bell-mère observed the old vice-admiral grinning and chatting a little more with that young woman named Makino. Then, he rudely ruffled her hair with his large hand and said goodbye. Bell-mère sighed. Now, she had to re-do her ponytail. One day I’ll shave my head, she decided, fiddling with her rebellious fuchsia locks.   “Let me help you, Bell-chan.”   Bell-mère eyed the woman, still unsure about what to think about her. Garp was on friendly terms with her, so she must be a trusted person. However, Bell-mère had spotted an infamous red-haired pirate drinking in her bar. Her kindness felt genuine though, so she accepted her help.   “Is something bothering you?” Makino asked while tying her hair up.   Bell-mère didn’t reply immediately. She had noticed the bartender glancing at that pirate with eyes full of respect, fondness, and maybe more. “I don’t like pirates,” she just said, not wanting to hurt the woman’s feelings.   “I see.” Makino smiled. “Well, let’s talk a bit about it on our way to Mt. Colubo.”   Bell-mère nodded and followed her up a steep trail just outside Windmill Village. She was supposed to meet with Garp’s grandchild and some other kids who lived in the forest with a middle-aged woman: Garp had told her that she had been a bandit in the past, but now she was more like his trusted babysitter.   “I know there are nasty pirates out there, Bell-chan,” Makino said as they walked through the trees. “But kind ones exist too.”   “My parents were killed by pirates.” Bell-mère didn’t remember them, and the Marine was her family now, but sometimes she wondered what kind of people they had been.   Makino stopped and turned around. “I’m sorry about that,” she murmured understandingly.   Bell-mère saw that there was no trace of dishonesty in her eyes, so she smiled at her and said, “Don’t worry, Makino-san. You couldn’t know.”   “One day, I would like to introduce you to that pirate you saw earlier. By meeting him, you will maybe understand what I mean.”   “Ok,” Bell-mère said cautiously, mildly curious. Besides, even Garp himself often did borderline when not outright illegal things—for example, hiding children in the house of a former bandit. She didn’t know the whole story, but rumours said that one of the children was the very son of the late Pirate King. Another, instead, had lived in a junkyard until being “adopted” by that bandit called “Dadan”. And there should be two siblings from a faraway island, too. Bell-mère had heard Garp telling his superiors they were nothing less than the sons of a fallen World Noble. She had no idea how Garp had learned about such forbidden topics, but she had a job to do and would do it without making questions.   “Dadan lives up there.”   The sun was down on the horizon when Makino gestured towards a poor-looking house in the meadow ahead. More than that, though, what caught Bell-mère’s attention was a nearby miniature “fortress”. On its top, a flag made of patched fabric said “ASL’s Country”.   Next to the shabby hut, a child looking no older than seven and wearing a straw hat sat on the grass, a sad expression on his face. Bell-mère could hear an animated discussion coming from inside and wondered if it had something to do with his mood. The next moment, though, the child ran to Makino and threw himself into her arms. “I missed you!” he said with the largest smile ever.   “Me too, Luffy-kun.” Makino hugged him affectionately. “What’s happening?” She gestured towards the “fortress”.   The kid’s expression changed back into a pout. “There are these new kids—I would like to become friends with them, but Ace doesn’t want!”   “I’ll talk with him,” Makino offered kindly.   “Sabo tried already, but Ace won’t listen!” Then, the child finally noticed Bell-mère. “Who are you?” he asked, tilting his head on the side.   “I’m Bell, a marine in training.”   Luffy’s smile came back. “So you know my grandpa?”   “Sure!” Bell-mère grinned at him. She wondered if the Vice-Admiral had been like him as a kid. “Why don’t you become a marine too?” She was there for the very purpose of persuading him and the other children to join the Navy. “I’ll be your friend if you come back with me.”   “No thanks,” the kid replied with an innocent smile. “What I’m going to be is the King of Pirates!”   Bell-mère groaned. She already knew from Garp that his grandchild was a troublemaker, but she wouldn’t give up so easily. “What about becoming a marine hero, instead?” “Nope,” Luffy said, still smiling brightly. “Heroes need to share meat, and I don’t want!”   “It won’t be easy to convince him, Bell-chan.” Makino chuckled. “Well, let’s see what’s happening in there.”   When Makino knocked on the crooked door, a voice from inside recited, “If you bring a bone, just begone!”   A secret code? That piqued Bell-mère’s interest.   “The right answer is”—Luffy whispered in Makino’s ear—“‘if you bring meat, then take a seat.’”   Bell-mère’s jaw dropped. Spilling out their secret code so nonchalantly…Garp’s grandson would never become a good marine like that!   “Thank you, Luffy-kun.” Makino smiled at him. Then, she repeated the phrase louder.   “Come in,” said the same voice of before.   Once inside, Bell-mère’s eyes needed a moment to adjust to the dim light of the single candle sitting at the centre of a chipped wooden table.   When she was able to see better, she noticed four children staring at them. The child with dark hair and an annoyed expression on his freckled face caught her attention first; then, she glanced at the three blond kids. One of them grinned at Makino with a missing tooth that gave him a cheeky look, while the remaining two children sat closer to each other: the shorter one had a messy fringe that covered his eyes, and he clung to the shirt of a slightly older kid wearing shades. Probably they were the fallen noble’s sons. According to Garp’s description, the eldest brother went by the name of “Doffy” and was the hardest to approach.   “Why don’t you try to get along with your new friends, Ace-kun?” Makino addressed the freckled kid, interrupting Bell-mère’s thoughts.   “I can’t be friends with spies,” Ace muttered, crossing his arms and looking sideways.   Had he just blushed? Bell-mère couldn’t tell for sure, but she had an idea of what was going on there. Brat. She rolled her eyes. You are way too young for her.   A bit surprised, Makino asked, “Spies?”   “Yes, spies,” repeated the kid. “They've arrived here suddenly and look like spoiled brats—they aren’t like us!”   “Here he goes again,” the kid with a missing tooth sighed.   “Stay out of this, Sabo!” Ace snapped.   “But Ace…” Luffy snivelled.   “We’re wasting our time here. Come on, Roci.” The glasses kid made for the door with a grim expression, but his younger brother didn’t seem as eager to leave.   “But brother,” he whimpered, “I’m hungry...”   “I’ll find you something to eat. Now let’s go.”   “Why don’t we all have dinner together instead?” Makino proposed. “Dadan is waiting for us.”   Bell-mère glanced up at Makino’s reassuring smile. “I’m hungry too,” she said, trying to be helpful.   “I want meat!” Luffy yelled, throwing his arms up. “Meat! Meat! Meat!” he bounced around, gaining a laugh from Sabo.   Even Ace smiled at that, but he tried not to make anyone notice. A moment later, he glared at the “spies” and conceded, “You can eat with us, but I still don’t trust you.”   “It’s decided then!” Makino clapped her hands happily. She took Luffy by the hand and added, “Let’s go introduce Bell-mère to Dadan and help her make dinner.”   “Wait, who is this little girl?” Ace pointed with his chin to Bell-mère.   “I’m not a little girl!” she yelled, realising too late she wasn’t supposed to lose her cool like that.   Ace smirked. “Of course you are.”   “I’m still older than you. And I’m a marine in training.”   “A marine? Disgusting.”   Bell-mère was about to Garp-punch him when a tiny voice caught her attention.   “I...I want to become a marine too. You—I m-mean, marines look cool. And strong.”   Bell-mère turned towards the child speaking from behind his brother’s back, his cheeks red from the embarrassment.   “Stop speaking nonsense,” his brother reproached him.   Ignoring that remark, Bell-mère observed his younger brother. He looked frail and was way too shy, but with some training, maybe…   “I want to play with you even if you like marines!” said Luffy, gaining a smack on the head by Ace.   Sabo burst out laughing. “You’re so funny, Luffy!” he said, holding his stomach.   Bell-mère chuckled, too. She wondered if, one day, Luffy would become one of those “kind pirates” as well…   Garp won’t like this.   The young marine recruit shrugged that thought off and followed the group to the bandit-turned-babysitter’s house with a grin on her face. Since she was there, she intended to have fun at least.

Hi!!!!! Can I request Lil scenario or hcs of Whitebeard pirates meeting Dadan after Marineford war (assume that Ace and WB didn't die ㅜㅡㅜ), pleaseeeeee? BTW I love your bloggggg ♥️。◕‿◕。
of courseeee and thank you ♥️
When Ace woke up a week after the fiasco that was Marine Ford, his first fear was that Whitebeard had died. When he tried to get up, Marco immediately pushed him back back down, promising he was alive and well.
His next worry was over Luffy, and again Marco assured him he was fine and had been saved by Law and taken to Amazon Lily.
After being reassured that everyone was okay, he was overcome by immense guilt. The whole thing was his fault, because he didn’t want to listen to Pops about Teach. Everyone he cared for had almost gotten killed and something in him just…gave.
Pops was sitting in his usual spot, looking cheerful as ever. He had survived being stabbed by one of his allies, the assaults of three generals, the sinking of the Moby Dick, and the near-deaths of hundreds of his sons and daughters, and had come out of it looking exactly like one would expect.
Tired and beat up, covered in bandages and tubes. Marco could work miracles, but he couldn’t beat old age.
Hesitantly, Ace stood before him, tears swimming in his eyes before wrapping his arms around Whitebeard, who hugged him tightly in return. The man had fought a war for him; it was the least he could do.
“I’m so glad you’re okay, son,” Whitebeard said, his voice gruff with emotion. He pushed Ace away so he could take a good look at him. Like himself, Ace had had it just as bad, if not worse. Akainu had punch a hole straight through him, and it was only by the grace of every miracle in existence that Marco had made it to him before he died.
It had taken a lot of time and a lot of care to keep Ace alive while Marco worked to close the gaping wound, but he had pulled through and no one could be happier than Whitebeard himself.
But Ace was looking guilty, and not just because of everything that had happened. “What is it you need to ask, Ace?”
He hesitated, trying to gather his thoughts before explaining. “I know…I know I just came back, and we just…just won a war. But I realized that…Dying made me…I want to go visit Foosha Village. Makino and Dadan…they’ll be worried and I haven’t seen them in–”
He got no further than that because Whitebeard grabbed his shoulder, giving him a sharp nod. “Yes, I agree. We should go visit them. I’d like to meet the woman that raised you, and give her my thanks.”
That wasn’t what Ace had expected, and he thought to argue, but changed his mind. He didn’t want to leave his family so soon again, and Pops and Dadan would probably get on like a house on fire.
Plus, he wanted them to meet. Two of the people most important to him deserved that much, at least.
“Alright. Thank you, Pops.”
Ace could hear the screams of children, saw them pointing in terror at the massive ship approaching. Even they knew Whitebeard’s flag, and knew it was to be feared.
But the adults knew better, and knew that his ship approaching could mean only one thing. Everyone already knew about the Navy’s defeat at the hands to the Whitebeard pirates, knew that Ace had escaped.
But no one knew for sure if he had survived.
Makino screamed as Ace stepped off, tears falling freely down her face as she threw herself into his arms. He wrapped them around her gently, holding her close as a familiar sense of comfort washed over him.
Woop Slap came next, giving his customary scolding about how bad he turned out, but Ace could read between the lines easy enough.
Friends came from left and right to hug Ace, and it was a long time before they finally allowed him to breathe.
Whitebeard waited in the wings, giving Ace a chance to catch up before walking down the ramp, instantly commanding everyone’s attention. The villagers all looked from him to Ace nervously, until he introduced Pops properly.
After that, everyone began to fervently thank Whitebeard for saving Ace’s life, with Ace nodding along. Someone started clapping, and then everyone was, with cheers and whistles mixed in. Whitebeard took it all in stride, while some of the others laughed in the background.
It was several minutes before they settled down again and even then they were so loud it was hard to think.
Ace looked down at Makino, who had latched onto his arm and refused to let go, and asked the dreaded question.
“Where is Dadan?”
Her face morphed from one of happy relief to nervousness. Before she could answer, though, a loud voice yelled his name.
He turned and found himself faced with the very woman he had asked about, who was barreling towards him like a rhino, looking for all the world like she was going to murder him.
Ace pushed Makino gently off so she wouldn’t be hurt, and braced himself for the inevitable impact.
Instead of the punch he had expected, he found himself swallowed up in a bone-crushing hug.
“You stupid, stupid fool,” Dadan choked out, and Ace realized she must be crying. “You absolute idiot.”
There was more, unintelligible muttering through her tears, and Ace could feel himself beginning to tear up. Unable to help himself, he hid his face in her bushy hair and let them fall, clutching her back as tightly as she held him.
He didn’t know how long they stood there, but finally a gentle hand on his back brought him back to reality.
It was Makino, and she was looking at him with a misty expression. “Let’s go to the bar for some privacy.”
With Dadan on one side and Makino on the other, they walked hand in hand into the warmth of the bar. Whitebeard and the others followed at a distance, wearing smiles or looking uncomfortable with the affection in turns, but all equally happy to see Ace smiling.
“Dadan,” Ace said once the doors to the bar were closed, “I want to introduce you to Whitebeard, my father.” Turning to Whitebeard, he said, “Pops, this is Dadan and Makino. They raised me and my brothers.”
Dadan got that angry look on her face again, and Ace thought for sure she was going to give Pops hell, but to everyone’s surprise, the exact opposite happened. He could have laughed at the look on Pops’s face as Dadan threw her arms around him and broke down again.
He awkwardly patted her on the back, looking suspiciously red in the face, until she pulled back again.
“Thank you, Whitebeard, for saving this fool. He’s an idiot, but he’s our idiot,” Dadan said, patting him on the shoulder one last time before returning to her seat beside Ace.
Makino had laid her head on Ace’s shoulder, and had yet to let go of his arm, but now she looked up with a warm smile. “I think this calls for a celebration.”
She served drinks with the ease of years of practice, and soon everyone held a mug of something.
Ace stood up, facing Whitebeard and the others and smiled. “To my family, and to Pops. I sure as hell wouldn’t be here without them.”
Dadan and Makino burst into tears again as the rest of the pirates burst into loud cheers and swarmed Ace, dogpiling him, while Whitebeard laughed loudly.
They all knew that right now was a memory that needed to be cherished because, when they returned to the Grand Line, the Navy would hunt them with renewed, if not more terrible, vigor. They had won one war and tarnished the World Government’s image, and they would pay for it.
Ace himself knew it, which was another reason why he wanted to return home. He knew that the chances of him ever returning were slim, and now was the best time to see them, to let them know he was okay and that he loved them. He didn’t want to die with this regret, and he almost had.
He raised his mug to Marco, who nodded slightly in return before looking to Whitebeard, who was looking at Dadan in amusement. She was regaling him with tales of Ace’s childhood, and all the trouble he caused along with his brothers. Makino was watching her with exasperated fondness, and Ace found he didn’t care all that much.
Dadan looked happy, Pops looked happy, Makino looked happy, and he himself was happy, and that’s all he cared about tonight.
