You were Luffy's caretaker and teacher. While his grandfather was a high respected Marine, he entrusted you with his grandson whenever he wasn't available to take care of him.
"I'm bored of this," Luffy said as you two were going over some reading.
"A good pirate should know how to read."
"Yeah but I should be preparing to set sail when Shanks comes back," Luffy said.
"How about this? We can go see Shanks today since he is suppose to be back today after we finish our lesson?" You asked him.
"Alright!" Luffy smiled before looking down at his book.
True to your word, you both headed over to the dock where you saw Shanks's ship. You watched as Luffy rushed over to the deck before helping out.
"Luffy! I was wondering when you'd pop up," Shanks said as he finally noticed the small boy. You leaned against the edge while Shanks looked around before finally seeing you. His smile widen a little more before walking over towards you.
"And how are you, my dear Y/n?" Shanks asked as he raised your hand to his lips.
"Nice to see you again Shanks," you smiled at him.
"I'm not joking! I'm ready to join your crew," Luffy insisted to Shanks.
"The sea isn't a child's game. It's dangerous. The scars on my face are proof of that. Besides, I need someone to watch over Y/n and I trust you," Shanks told Luffy as he continued to help his crew unload their ship.
"I can do it, Shanks. I swear," Luffy said.
"You're not ready."
"I am. And I'll show you!" Luffy said before rushing off in the ship. You walked over to Shanks before placing your hand on his. He looked over at you as you gave him a look.
"You really need to be more easy on him. You know how he can be," you tell Shanks.
"Better a disappointed kid now than a dead one later."
"I blame you for being a good pirate and influencing him," you tell him.
"I missed you. Let's celebrate my return tonight together shall we?" Shanks asked you.
"Hey, Shanks!" You heard Luffy. You quickly turned around to see Luffy standing on the top of the view port making you gasp once you saw the knife.
"Luffy! You better come back down here and put that knife back where you found it!" You tell him.
"Listen to Y/n, Luffy. Before you hurt yourself," Shanks called out.
"I'm not afraid of getting hurt. And I'll prove it to you," Luffy yelled before stabbing right below his eye.
"Luffy!" You screamed in shock and horror.
"Get the first aid kit! I'll get him down," Shanks told you. You nodded before rushing out of the ship to grab your first aid kit.
"Why would you do that to yourself?!" You asked Luffy as you stitched him up.
"You could've stabbed your eye," Shanks told him as he sat next to you.
"I was aiming for it, but I missed," Luffy told you.
"Ow," Luffy said as you tightened the stitches a little.
"I thought you said you were tough," Shanks asked him.
"I am! Y/n is just being a little too rough. I want everyone to see my scar," Luffy said.
"Scars don't make the man, Luffy. It's the lesson behind the scar and you didn't earn this one," Shanks told him before tapping his cheek.
"Then let me earn it. I'll be the best pirate ever. Look, I've been practicing what my face is gonna look like on my wanted poster," Luffy said before making a face. You shook your head at him as you gathered your things.
"You are going to give me a heart attack, Luffy," you tell him as you ruffled his hair. You stood up and walked away to put your first aid kit back.
When you made it back to the bar, you saw Shanks walk up to your with your favorite drink. You sat on the chair next to the bar as you faced Shanks. He raised the glasses to you with a smile.
"Have a drink with me," Shanks told you.
"I need to look after Luffy."
"One drink. Then later tonight, you meet me at my ship and we can have our little reunion?" Shanks insisted.
It was no doubt that the two of you had feelings for one another. Shanks loved how soft and caring you were while you loved his gentle touch when it came to you.
"Fine. I hope I don't find anything that belongs to another woman in your ship again," you tell him, remembering the last time you went to his ship after Luffy was asleep.
"It was one time and you know I changed my ways for you," Shanks said as he wrapped his arm around your waist. You took a swing of your drink before giving him a light kiss on the cheek.
Once it became nightfall, you got Luffy ready for bed so you could meet with Shanks. After finding out that he ate a devil fruit, you were livid but you knew that Luffy didn't understand what power and weaknesses the devil fruit had affected him.
"I don't know why you won't let us go with Shanks," Luffy said as you tucked him in.
"You know that the sea isn't for me and you aren't ready to be a pirate. Even if you did eat a devil's fruit," you tell him.
"But you and Shanks love each other. Why can't we just sail with him? I can learn how to be a pirate and I'm stronger now," Luffy said.
"Your grandfather will kill me if I just took you away. And like I said, I am not too fond of the sea. Now it's time for bed for you," you tell him.
"Fine. Goodnight, Y/n."
"Goodnight, Luffy."
Once he was fully asleep, you walked over to Shanks's ship where you could see his quarter's lights on. You walked over to his room where he lied on his bed with his shirt off.
"Getting straight to the point now are we?" You teased as you closed the door behind you. You locked the door before walking over towards his bed. Shanks sat up so you could stand in between his legs.
"I missed you, my love," Shanks said as he pulled you down on the bed with him.
He cupped your cheeks as he kissed you passionately. You cupped his cheeks as well, smoothing your thumb against his scars below his eye.
"I missed you too," you tell him in between kisses.
"Let me have you for tonight," Shanks said as he undid your dress. You sat up before slipping it off of your body.
"You're as beautiful as the day I met you," Shanks praised as he sat up to kiss your body.
-
"How long are you staying this time?" You asked him as you both lied in his bed. Your naked bodies was covered by the thin blanket as you both held onto each other.
"Till tomorrow," Shanks told you.
"How long will you be gone?" You asked. Shanks stayed quiet making you look up at him.
"Shanks. How long will you be gone?" You repeated.
"We're not coming back this time, my love," Shanks told you.
"What?"
"Come with me. I'll take care of you and-"
"Shanks, my home is here. And I can't leave Luffy. He's still a growing boy and I could never forgive myself if I were to abandon him," you tell him as you sat up.
"My love-"
"Shanks, I'm not joining you in the sea and you know why. I'm sorry," you tell him as you got up and put your clothes back on.
"Stay the night. Please," Shanks said as he held your hand.
"I can't. I think it's best if we ended this," you tell him.
"I don't want this to end. Please, Y/n. Come with me to find the One Piece and we can live our lives out together," Shanks told you. You shook your head at him before giving him one last kiss.
"I love you, Shanks. But I can't leave here. Not yet at least," you tell him before walking out.
-
The next day, you watched as Shanks says his goodbye to Luffy. You stared as he gave his hat to Luffy before making eye contact with you. He walked over towards you before taking something out of his pocket.
"I saw this while I was away and wanted to give it to you," Shanks said as he held out a beautiful ring.
"Shanks-"
"I just want you to know that I want you, my love. Will you wait for me?" Shanks asked.
"You need to find that one piece soon so you can come back and get me," you tell him with a small smile.
"I'll come back for you. I promise," Shanks said before sliding the ring onto your finger. He quickly gave you a kiss before walking away.
You put an arm around Luffy as you watched Shanks's ship sail off. You both waved at him as he stared at the two of you.
"When I become King of the Pirates, I'll give you a nice home where you and Shanks can live the rest of your lives together," Luffy tells you. You smiled down at him before ruffling his hair.
"I'll hold you to that," you tell him.

he stared across the classroom as their history of magic teacher drawled on about something clearly unimportant. he watched her as she effortlessly managed to keep focus in the ever boring lecture hall. the boy's gaze flickered to the ghostly teacher, who paced above the flagstone floor as he went on yet another tangent about the great war of the giants.
he smiled to himself as he looked back to her, finding tranquility in the way she leaned over to whisper something she clearly found amusing to her friend. his own friend's amusement became white noise in the background as he made haphazard notes.
a crumpled piece of paper landed on his desk in front of him. reaching out and grasping it, he looked to his friends, who were all snickering amongst themselves as they plotted their next prank.
who're you admiring, pads? the note read conspicuously, scribbles of writing and smudged ink occupied the parchment. the writing was so very obviously james, the messy scratches and the assertiveness the worn page held was telling enough.
no one, shove off. binns is just boring. he quickly wrote back, re-crumpling the parchment up and throwing back to the messenger. subtly.
the lesson continued, as sirius' eyes grew heavy at the monotonous voice their history of magic teacher wielded. he gave the class a once over again, before he found himself staring at her profile, watching intently as she continued to swap between note taking and exchanging hushed whispers with her friends.
methodically, the clock at the front of the room ticked 'til the top of the hour, where the ghostly professor dismissed them. the entirety of the class stumbled out of the stone room, wooden benches screaming against the floor as they were pushed back.
"where were you sirius, it's like you weren't even in the room," james clapped his friend's back before swinging his arm around his shoulders.
"what do you mean?" the long haired boy played oblivious, earning a laugh from the other three boys.
"c'mon, padfoot, you've got that look in your eyes..." remus alluded wearily, matching his pace with james and sirius whilst peter remained a few paces behind.
"and what look would that be, moons?" he may as well have scoffed, as he shook his head with a chuckle.
"that look, you know, when james looks at evans," remus laughed cockily as he gripped the back of sirius' shoulders and gently shoved him forward. he laughed at his friend's joke, before denying it and continuing to venture toward his next class.
"nah mate, you looked totally whipped," peter piped up, before the four parted ways.
sirius reached his classroom, trailing behind his classmates as they were summoned into the room. he slid into a seat at the back of the room, directly behind y/n.
much like history of magic, he spent most of the lesson watchng the girl take notes and interact with her friends, going unnoticed by anyone else. lazily, he also scribbled elegantly on a piece of parchment, briefly jotting down the notes magically scribed on the chalkboard.
the class had been tasked with reading ahead for the next chapter in preparation for their exams. the room was silent, only the echoing of quills scratching on parchment was circling the atmosphere.
the girl had been skimming the book in front of her before taking notes, when she adjusted her arm, brushing the quill from her desk. it floated down to the stone tile floor, landing gently at the boy's feet.
watching the feather fall, he leaned down and picked it up swiftly,
"hey, y/n," he whispered, calling for the girl's attention without disturbing the tranquility of the room.
she turned her head toward the boy as she shifted in her chair to face him, humming in acknowledgment. wordlessly, he held out the fallen quill to her, merely smiling softly after being quietly thanked.
he smiled at the back of her head, watching as she turned around and continued her prior task without missing a beat.
he resumed scrawling notes, the activity almost becoming mindless. almost. as it wasn't long before the near silent thump of a crumpled piece of parchment landing in front of sirius broke his concentration.
thanks again, i wouldn't have noticed and completely forgot it otherwise. the note read sweetly. her voice echoed in his head as he read it, the inflections of her voice translating from the ink on the page.
the pair would not interact again until weeks later. sirius quietly followed james who strolled around on his prefect duties, not so subtly conspiring their next prank in the depths of the empty corridors.
y/n had found herself on the way back from the library, having spent too long holed up in a corner of the ancient library, desperately trying to keep on top of the masses of homework the teachers were assigning in preparation for exams. swinging her bookback over her shoulder, and looking both ways before leaving taking a cautious step out the room.
the two boys' voices echoed through the acoustic stone walls, causing the girl to freeze momentarily, deflating when she realised how non-threatening they both were. sighing, she began to walk in the direction of her common room.
"oh, y/n!" sirius bravely called out, a confused grumble from james following his friend's words.
"yes, sirius," the girl paused onced again, turning to face the long haired boy.
"i've been meaning to speak to you for some time," he approached her, waving a hand dismissively at the other boy, who left to continue his prefect rounds.
"oh? what do you need to speak with me about?" she asked rather formally, oblivion underlying her tone.
"uhm, i uh," he suddenly became hesitant, and less sure of himself, "i just need to get this off my chest," the girl's brows furrowed in confusion as he became more cryptic.
"i like you, like a lot," he spoke suddenly, the girl's jaw dropping with surprise.
"i'm sorry?" shock lingered in the air between them.
"gosh, y/n, i fancy you, i've fancied you all this time. can't you see?" he asked rhetorically.
"but you've been round the school and back," she deflected, her shock only growing as the his declaration continued. he went on to tell the girl of his far away love stricken watching.
before long the pair found themselves in one another's embrace, silently basking in the admittance of feelings for the other.

It had been years since you last saw Shanks. And it's been a year since you last saw Luffy. Ever since he was old enough to sail off in the world to find the One Piece to become King of the Pirates, you had been by yourself since. Of course you did a lot for your small village to keep you occupied but you still missed your boys.
You were tending to your garden as it was time for you to harvest before it became spoiled and over grown. That was until you heard someone say something behind you.
“You don’t seem like someone who can harm a fly."
You turned around to see the warlord Dracule Mihawk standing before you. You stood up straight to seemed less intimidated.
“I can hurt a fly. Don’t think I’m good at harming anyone else,” you tell him as you crossed your arms.
“I see.”
“I know who you are so what do you want?” You asked.
“I was sent to kill you but in all honesty, I don’t think I can kill you. You’re too beautiful to be killed,” he tells you.
“Who sent you to kill me?” You asked, now worried. You’ve stayed in the island since you were born. Not only that, you stayed even when Luffy left.
“Not to worry now. I don't have any intentions to kill you," he tells you.
"Then what are you still doing here?"
"I'm curious to see why someone would send me to go after you."
"Feel free to stay. Just to tell you, it's going to be quite boring," you tell him.
Mihawk stayed around the next day to watch over you. He didn't understand why Vice Admiral Garp would want a warlord like him to kill a sweet little thing like yourself. You did nothing of the sort that would be considered dangerous or even pirate bounty level dangerous.
"Ow!" You yelled as you accidently burnt yourself with the pan.
"What happened? What's wrong?" Mihawk asked you as he rushed inside your home.
"Just burned myself," you tell him.
Mihawk quickly grabbed your bucket of water before gently putting your finger in the cool liquid.
"Thanks," you tell him.
"Of course."
"I made extras if you'd like. I got used to cooking for two," you tell him.
"Was it for you and your past lover?" Mihawk asked you.
"Not really surprisingly. I used to take care of a little boy who used to live with me who had a bottomless stomach. He wanted to become a pirate so he set sail a year ago," you tell him.
"I see."
"So, dinner?"
"Why not."
Mihawk stayed for a couple more weeks before he needed to back out to sea. You stood on the deck as you watched Mihawk get ready to leave.
"So I guess this is farewell?" You asked him.
"For now. I will be back in a month at most," he tells you.
"To finish me off and claim your berry?" You asked.
"No. To come see you again," Mihawk said before sailing off. You shook your head at him before walking back to your home.
You assumed Mihawk was lying or joking when he said he was coming back to see you. But to your surprise, you opened your door to see him standing before you.
"Brought you some new seeds for you to grow in your garden," Mihawk tells you.
"I'm guessing you're staying for dinner?" You asked with a small smile.
"If you'd have me," Mihawk said. You nodded before letting him inside your house.
-
As much as you didn't want to admit, you fell for Mihawk. Even though part of you hoped for Shanks to come back, you appreciated the fact that no matter how long Mihawk was gone for or even if he was wounded badly, he came back to you. Even though Shanks would come back to you, he hasn't for years.
"Will you be mine?" Mihawk asked you one night. After a midnight stroll, you both headed back to your home. Mihawk stopped you from walking inside by holding your hand.
"What?" You asked in shock.
"Be mine. I've fallen for you Y/n. And I swear to you, I would never let anything happen to you," Mihawk tells you.
"Alright. I'll be yours," you tell him. Mihawk gave you a small smile before pulling you towards him.
"May I kiss you?" Mihawk asked you.
"Yes."
Mihawk cupped your cheek with his hand before leaning in to kiss you.
-
Shanks rushed over to your home after being away for so many years. He was excited to tell you his adventures and was looking forward to seeing you once again. He knocked on your door, his heart pounding in excitement.
Instead of seeing you, he saw someone else open the door. His smile faltered as he stared at the stranger in front of him.
"May I help you?" The stranger asked him.
"My apologies. I was hoping to find Y/n L/n? The woman who lived here?" Shanks asked.
"Oh. I'm sorry. She's been gone for quite sometime. She left the village I want to say two years ago? Her and her husband moved to another island."
"Her husband?"
"Yes. I'm surprised she married a warlord but he had been kind to the village whenever he was here," the stranger pointed out.
"Do you happened to know her husband's name?"
"I believe it was Dracule Mihawk."
Shanks made it to Mihawk's castle where he knew you would be at. After demanding to see you, Mihawk came out to talk to him.
"You should know my wife is resting," Mihawk tells him.
"You took her from me," Shanks angrily tell him.
"I didn't take her from anyone. When I met her, she was alone," Mihawk informs him.
"She never told you about me?" Shanks asked.
"No she has. I just never told her that I knew you."
"Please. Let me see her!" Shanks asked.
"Let me see if she's well enough to move," Mihawk said.
"Is she sick?" Shanks asked.
"Not entirely."
Shanks waited anxiously for you to come down. His eyes widen when he saw Mihawk helping you down. Your stomach was large but he knew that it was because you were pregnant. And what's worse was that it wasn't Shanks's child you were carrying. It was Mihawk's child.
"Shanks?" You asked in shock.
"Hi, Y/n."
-
You sat in the garden with Shanks alone so you two could talk. Shanks stared at you, admiring your beauty once more. While you thought you were alone, Shanks knew that Mihawk was watching nearby.
“Are you happy my love?” Shanks asked you as he held your hand.
“I am. Hawk Eye makes me happy,” you tell him with a small smile.
“I’m happy that you’re happy.”
“I did wait for you Shanks. I really did. But I feared that if I waited any longer, I’d be too old for you,” you tell him with a frown.
“You could never be too old for me. You could have white hair and many wrinkles and I’d still think you’re the most beautiful woman in the world,” Shanks tells you. You smiled at him before tearing up.
“I loved you Shanks. And I’m sorry I didn’t wait for you longer."
“Don’t apologize my love. I’m sorry I didn’t come back to you sooner,” Shanks said. You nodded before taking off your makeshift necklace that held the ring Shanks gave to you. You handed it over to Shanks before kissing his cheek.
“I hope life treats you well and I hope you find a woman who will love you endlessly as much as I did,” you tell him.
“And if Hawk Eyes dares to lay a hand on you, come find me. I’ll protect you.”
“I know you will."
"So this is goodbye then huh?" Shanks asked you.
"If you find Luffy, tell him I miss him and love him dearly. And that, he's more than welcome to visit me or find me whenever he wants," you tell him. After all, Luffy was yours and Shanks's unofficial son and you two were his unofficial parents.
"Goodbye, Shanks,” you tell him before giving him a kiss on the cheek once more.
“Goodbye, my love.”
You sat on the couch in your lounge room waiting for your son to arrive with his new fiancée. Twenty five years had gone by and you had lived your life. Dracule sat next to you as you both waited for your son to come home. Now that your husband has retired from being a pirate, he had spent his time with you while your children explored the world.
“I wonder what she’ll be like,” you tell your husband.
“I trust his judgement. After all, I chose well didn’t I?” Dracule joked.
“You most certainly did,” you smiled.
“Mom! Dad! I’m home!” You heard your son say.
“Over here!” You called from where you were.
You smiled at your son the moment he walked in but your eyes widen from the sight of the woman next to him. Not only did she have the exact same hair as Shanks, but she also had the same eyes as him. It was no doubt that she was Shanks's daughter.
“Mother. Father. This is my fiancée, May,” your son said proudly. You smiled at the woman before getting up from your chair to greet her.
“It’s nice to meet you, May,” you tell her.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you too, Mrs. Mihawk.”
“Please call me Y/n,” you tell her as you shook her hand. You noticed her necklace with a ring on it. It looked exactly like the one Shanks gave to you from years before.
“I like your necklace,” you say.
“Oh thank you. My father gave it to me. Said it was his prize possession,” she tells you. You felt your heart break a little from what she said.
“Will we be able to meet your parents soon?” You asked.
“Unfortunately no. My mother passed away from childbirth and my father passed away not too long ago,” she tells you. You frown from hearing that.
“I’m so sorry.”
“It’s alright. I’m really glad to have met your son,” May tells you. You smiled at her before giving her a hug.
“Well, I know my son will treat you well. And if he doesn’t, you tell me,” you tell her. May smiled at you before looking at your son.
At the end of the night, you stood outside on your balcony as you stared up at the stars.
Maybe this was the universe telling you that in another life, you and Shanks end up together. But you did wish he didn’t have to be gone so soon. You wished that he would’ve came back to you sooner and maybe you two could've had the future you two wanted together.

Because I can't help myself...
Part 1 | Part 2
Part 3
Max felt like this was all just one big out of body experience. Daniel was hanging off of him smiling down the phone with his family. Because of course he had a phone— everyone did. But Daniel forgets about it apparently and it dies often because he doesn’t charge it. He has better things to do than be tethered to technology– unless it's like videos of animals then he has all the time in the world.
When the call had connected; Grace had been weeping and Joe had looked marginally worried. The moment they saw Max however, Joe looked apoplectic and Grace was gently replaced by Michelle who looked like she was planning to kill Max in his sleep.
“Daniel, love. Where are you?” Grace was sniffling and Daniel’s smile dimmed a little.
“Mama this is Max! He says I’m in Monaco— its far from Perth. I’m sorry Mama.”
“Danny you don’t even have a passport…” Michelle was confused and exasperated. Her usual emotions around her brother.
“Security must be very lax at the airport.” Joe muttered which had Max snorting. They’d all forgotten about him and he'd effectively gotten their attention again.
Michelle mutters something about trusting random people and Daniel lights up because he didn’t just trust blindly this time!
“Don’t worry Chellie! The cats say he's nice! And you know cats never lie!” They were right about the birds and so far they've been right about Max.
“Well if the cats say he's nice…” Grace had all but calmed down seeing that her baby is fine, but Michelle and Joe were already in action mode. They weren't so convinced about this ‘nice Max person’.
“Danny, can you give us a moment so we can talk to Max about getting you home?” Joe smiled when Daniel sang an ‘of course’ and they all watched him get up and frolic to a daybed behind Max and curl up with the cats. Max smiled unconsciously at his humming, who could stay stoic in the face of this?
Grace eventually flutters off as well– because her boy is hale and whole so she's good– and it's just Max left to the wolves of Michelle and Joe.
It takes a bit but they eventually believe that he's a Formula 1 driver (lots of cross referencing websites and apps. Michelle was thorough) and that he has no problems helping Daniel get home. The season doesn’t start for a few months so he’s got time.
Turns out they’ll need to get Daniel a passport, sneaking him back into the country even on a private jet was a felony.
Daniel was making himself comfortable during all of this, floating around the flat with Jimmy and Sassy in hand, singing to them and pointing out the window. He then started looking at himself in all of Max’s trophies, making faces in the mirrored metal, and singing the names to the cats.
“Oh! Melbourne! I know there!” Daniel excitedly pointed at a circular tray like trophy, the lighthouse on his thigh flashed a golden light and the sails of the ship fluttered.
“I’ve raced there.” Max smiled at Daniel’s delighted laugh. He continued to watch Daniel admire all his hardware and crystals with a fond smile– Michelle and Joe stared eagle eyed and tense. When it seemed like he wasn’t putting on a show, they calmed down a little. Just a smidge.
They allowed Max to go after a few more threats– which was only fair. And he went to take a cat from Daniel. Jimmy curled into Max’s hold and Sassy flopped herself around Daniel’s neck, kneading the air as if high on catnip. Daniel giggled, shrugged and scritched her tummy.
“Daniel do you want a change of clothes? Maybe a shower?”
Daniel started singing a song about showers and sunsets and Max took that to mean that sure, he wanted to shower. He found something non-merchy, a tshirt and athletic shorts, he hoped they fit because he didn’t exactly know what size daniel was.
Easily remedied, however, because Daniel took off his sweatshirt during his second chorus. Max blinked at the expanse of tanned skin that was exposed, and the new collection of tattoos that glowed and fluttered. He serenaded Sassy while she bundled in his arms, cooing and grinning when she purred back. The cherub on his forearm fluttered its wings.
He was smaller than Max anticipated, but still broader and fit. Max guessed it was because his aura was so large that he physically seemed tiny in comparison.
“Is there anything you want to eat? I can order food while you bathe.”
"Do they have pizza here? I love pizza." Daniel swayed where he stood, his inner music never stopping.
"We can get pizza."
Daniel did a happy dance then sauntered to the bathroom confidently. Max cut himself off from saying something when Daniel pointed to the hallway door while looking down at the cat in his hand. Right…Sassy knew where everything was. It was a …strange dynamic to consider.
While that happened, Max took out his phone and texted Charles for help. He was truly out of his depth and Charles knew how to handle  weird shit. He'd gotten used to being more important than the Pope so he could help figure this out.
Charles came with Lando– because of course he did. Those two were always together nowadays. They could keep a secret– not from each other– but they were vaults otherwise. They were in the living room and Max was just about to start explaining when Daniel fluttered out of the bathroom humming. He was damp and shirtless but was wearing Max’s shorts, Charles’ and Lando’s mouths dropped open in shock.
Max scrambled up to cover Daniel off before he fully got into the living room. “Daniel, where is your shirt?”
“Oh, Sassy said it was uncomfortable so I like decided not to wear it.” He shrugged uncaringly and the skull baby on his bicep stepped forward to keep its footing. Sassy purred in his arms and he went back to staring at her lovingly.
“Do you want another shirt?”
“Max…what the fuck?” it was Lando. Max groaned when Daniel looked around him, beaming brightly. The rose bloomed a little.
“Hi! I’m Daniel!”
