Kinda weird question- do you have any links to people talking about Mira from ZTD and ableist stereotypes? I mentioned that I was uncomfortable with her portrayal but kinda fumbled it and made some other ND people in chat uncomfortable. I searched for various keyword combinations but most of what I'm finding is like "and not to mention the ableism with Mira" and doesn't elaborate lol.

And like though I complain I couldn't elaborate much on it myself I don't think, I believe most of the posts people make about Saito from aitsf would apply since it's a different uchikoshi take on the very same trope of "emotionless characters who cannot function without killing others" I guess he's a worse portrayal though since she's at least not stated to get reward brain chemicals when killing people and I guess her case also has the added layer of "femme fatale" to it? Which either makes it less bad or worse depending on where you approach it from As I said I am not doing a good job of being coherent on this oh and also there's her being "redeemed" and "cured" in the epilogue which in on itself is kinda not great to imply it just goes away like that and honestly I personally don't even buy it I think she'd just be like oh okay Akane over here has like a thousand reasons to hate me after all that oh and what's that she's the leader of a super wealthy underground organization who's organized one of these death traps before yeah no I'm better off going to prison I'll be fine there lmao bye

But I'll say as an autistic person with relatively low empathy I usually see a character who just doesn't understand other people's feelings and wants to feel them too and is just trying to survive despite getting no help and I just kinda go hm. yeah. shout-out to roxas kingdom hearts shout out to mary from ib shout out that's why I started hyperfixating on media art helps me with understanding others a great lot and Mira is just in a story too badly executed for me to care or even begin to wrap my head around tbh like god she's so fucking terribly used as a plot device in every conceivable way that it makes it difficult to see past it and into what she could possibly be if it weren't for the stereotype of equalling low empathy with no compassion what's with her killing off screen in ways that wildly deviate from her stated m.o? why or how was she even in cahoots with Zero why was that a thing? Honestly her dynamic with Sean could have been better fleshed out could have done something interesting about robot child and his aspd big sis but we just kind of don't get any attention brought to the subject of emotions and the authenticity there of except for the "reveal"...

YOU KNOW WHAT that's probably one huge reason it feels so fucked up actually! Like the whole fucking game is written so you could experience it in whatever order you want and therefore Mira being a serial killer at all is something that though not very well hidden it also cannot be a topic of discussion or explored Ever ever because the player may not have seen the fragment where that is revealed yet- problem being the menu design of that game sucks so bad and practically everyone gravitates towards the same few more interesting looking thumbnails first and then the rest is kinda just there, I mean that is part of the reason A Lot of characters feel half-baked I think but also I think it definitely does impact perception of her character specifically probably The Most and then there's just the general not being given nuance not being able to see the minutiae of how that disorder manifests in her character aside from the killings about how she acts aside from being overly flirty trying to lure in Eric but that affects pretty much all of the new cast we don't have last names and in her case we barely have any backstory at all like Saito is a harmful stereotype sure but we get So Much Context for him that people still love talking about him and delving into different aspects of his life since we have that very well telegraphed in the narrative meanwhile for Mira all we can do is fill in the blanks guesswork that only highlights the worst aspects of the surface level portrayal we got and ultimately that people just don't care enough to dissect because there isn't much there character wise once you remove it

at first i wasnt going to watch the new trigun because i just didnt feel the need or the want to watch it. personally i dont like how vash looks like a kid (at least to me.) im not a fan of the animation style. im also really disappointed that milly isnt in the show.

after i got done rewatching the OG anime and the movie after... idk how many years its been since i last watch it tbh. i just started googling random things i had questions about in the trigun universe that really doesnt matter. one of the search results was a reddit link to r/trigun and the title of the post is "TRIGUN STAMPEDE is TERRIBLE"

the reddit user goes on to explain why they think the show is terrible but... everything they listed as reasons for the show being terrible were things that actually happened in the OG anime. and i cant talk about this post without mentioning that this person was unironically calling OG vash 'alpha' and the new vash 'beta' and 'imposter'. their reasons were he's a cry baby, there's no way he had no bullets in his gun, he's a try hard, he's too much a spazz, ect. they said all of this AFTER stating they went back and rewatched the first episode of the original anime but its like, did they REALLY watch the first epsiode? because vash is all of those things right from the start. he screams, he freaks out, he cries, he has no bullets in his gun, he's just a complete and total dork.

honestly i could just feel the anger from this person seeping through the post as they stated that no one should watch the show and if you want to get into trigun, the reboot is not the place to start. they talk about the show as if the original was this perfect gem and to be honest, while yeah, the original show kicked ass and we all loved vash for who he is, the show wasnt perfect at all. there are even things said in the original that just wouldnt fly today, things that vash himself has said and done that would get him possibly cancelled.

after reading that post i decided that maybe i will give the reboot a watch, try it for myself. i had only seen gifs of it so far at the time of reading the post and to me the show honestly didnt seem that bad. i may not like the animation style but its perfect for such an animated person like vash. milly may not be in the show but i shouldnt let that spoil the experience. vash may look more like a child compared to how he looked in the original anime but that doesnt mean the design is bad.

so i gave the reboot a watch (8 episodes are out at the time of writing this, only 6 of them dubbed so i havent seen 7 or 8. i dont have hulu or anything so im watching on an anime website.) and im not really good at giving in depth reviews but for what the show is, i really like it. it's a different spin on things and if thats what people are upset about then thats on them. i still prefer the original anime and the things i dont like the reboot are still things i dont like but the show is still great on its own. if you're against the reboot but still want give it a try, watch it with an open mind. it's still the same vash that we know and love, he just looks different.

TGCF (also know as Heaven Official’s Blessing/Tian Guan Ci Fu) is originally a Chinese BL novel! It has different adaptations, with an animation, audio drama, a manhua/manga, and a live action. The animation is having Season 2 released in October, and the audio drama is releasing episodes right now till the 29th (episode 5 just released today). The live action is still N/A, but the manhua/manga is still ongoing

The announcement of the release date of Season 2 and the comeback of the audio drama happened on Tuesday and it just made my week so much better. A good fucking week for TGCF fans

It’s recently been my current obsession, and I just absolutely fucking love it. The guy in my pfp is one of the side characters in the novel. Starting with any of the adaptations is fine, but of course the novel has more to it than the others. The first 6 books of the English localization are available to buy online.

The novel consists of the main couple being either really awkward teenagers and an old married couple at the same time. It also has a mix of horror sprinkled in it, and lets the side characters shine with their own arcs. The main couple is between a banished god of Heaven and one of the most powerful Ghost Kings, and just their whole love story is so beautiful. I want what they have so bad

If I see one more person misconstrue good-faith criticism against Thomas Sanders and the way he’s handling his series, I’m going to scream.

Yes, there are people who genuinely despise the man, and are nitpicking anything that can prove that he is an evil person. There are people who are constantly pestering Thomas about the long wait, demanding the content they want this instant. Those people aren’t being productive with their criticism, and I can understand being frustrated with them. Hell, I’M frustrated with them!

But there ARE valid criticisms. Thomas has recently been very bad with handling questions about the series, as his recent Twitter posts have shown, and he hasn’t been transparent about what’s going on with Sanders Sides.

If you don’t take anything else away from this post, THAT’S what we’re upset about. We aren’t upset about the wait itself. We will GLADLY wait days, months, YEARS for this series we love. We already HAVE waited years, and we likely will continue to do so! But we don’t know what’s going ON. He has given us very few updates, and in the few updates he has given us, he has been INCREDIBLY VAGUE.

And he CAN BE VAGUE, just ACKNOWLEDGE IT.

“Hey guys! This series is taking longer than I thought it would for reasons I don’t feel comfortable disclosing! I can’t give you an exact date for when the next part will be out because I don’t know when it’ll be done, but it will take a long time! Please be patient, thank you!”

THAT’S IT! That’s all we want! But as far as I know, he hasn’t announced an official hiatus or anything of the sort. He has just said that he’s “working on it”, which doesn’t tell us ANYTHING.

If he is prioritizing Roleslaying or another project, THAT’S FINE! Just TELL US, so we don’t expect something we aren’t going to get!

People have brought up how the series used to be as part of their argument, on both sides. The production quality was lower, but updates were more frequent. I won’t argue about which era of the series was better. But the point I want to make is that Thomas set up a precedent. After years of this series, we’ve come to expect this type of update schedule.

And now, obviously, it’s changed. And that’s FINE. But when a precedent has been established, and then it’s changed without any kind of announcement, it’s reasonable that people are confused and kinda thrown off! And we would be a lot less confused if Thomas would TELL US WHAT’S GOING ON!

I don’t know Thomas personally. I’ve never interacted with him. I’m sure he’s a lovely man. But he can be a wonderful person AND be irresponsible interacting with his fans. Not every bit of criticism thrown at Thomas is a direct attack against his character! Kindness and irresponsibility aren’t mutually exclusive! And yes, there ARE people using these recent tweets as attacks against Thomas as a person. You can be upset about that. But there are also people analyzing these responses and (rightfully so in my opinion) asking for some accountability!

I understand that he’s frustrated! I would be as well, in his circumstance! And there ARE people who are being incredibly rude and unhelpful in demanding that Thomas pump out Sanders Sides content at a faster pace! That is incredibly unreasonable!

But that isn’t what everyone is saying to him! Many people are being perfectly polite and asking for the smallest bit of clarity! And yes, this can also be really frustrating! But it isn’t completely unwarranted! When you don’t say anything, people ask questions! And the best way to stop people from asking questions? ANSWER SOME OF THEM!

You can still be a fan of the series that Thomas made AND be critical of him and the series. The fact that we take the time to express and convey these criticisms in a manner we hope to be constructive is a testament to the love we have for it, and the potential we don’t feel it’s reaching. So don’t you DARE suggest that we are any less part of this fandom, or “fake fans”, because we see some flaws in the system. We can love something and acknowledge it’s flaws. You are no better than us because you are standing on the other side of this argument.

If I’ve missed anything, which I likely have, then feel free to correct anything I’ve gotten incorrect. I know my perspective may have some gaps. But I’d like to have a conversation with someone who disagrees with me, rather than someone seeing the words “ts criticism” and immediately assuming that we are ungrateful little shits who hate everything Thomas stands for.

Once again, I apologize for the wave of criticism on my blog. You are more than welcome to unfollow or block me of that makes you upset, no hard feelings on my side. But I wanted to say something, and I doubt my stance will change. I hope, going forward, that we can discuss the ups and downs of this series without fingers being pointed or accusations being thrown. From BOTH sides.

hope you don't mind me sending you this, but i don't have lip piercing (i'm thinking about it though) but i felt the same way after both of my nose piercings, especially after nostril bc i couldn't wear a hoop right away, but i think it's just a big change to how you look and it might just be something you need to get used to? i'm sure it looks cool though, lip piercings are so fucking amazing

and just to give you some more unasked for advice, i've only started figuring out and having fun with my gender couple of months ago and i'm 27 and i can only say: your gender is what you make it. it's not a checklist, it's yours and you can try things out and decide if you like them or not, because what screams Gender at you on someone might not work for you and the other way round. it's a really fun thing, it shouldn't frustrate you because you don't look like someone else (because someone saw you today and thought they want to have your gender, i just know that bc that happens to me all the time) but it's a still space for you to talk about what you feel and if you ever want i'll reply and you can rant at me in private! i really admire you actually getting your lip pierced and i hope it heals well whatever you decide to do with it, keep your head up anna <3

you know…body dysphoria is so weird…like- in all reality I don’t wanna look like a skinny twink gay boy (I am very much a twink gay boy lmao) BUT I wanna look big and strong, like- not dad bod but muscular dad bod if that makes sense…I want to look like I could win a wrestling match with no problem (but not like extremely buldging muscular like some of them) think uhhh…jason mamoa? kinda like that.

So, the fact that I am already a bigger guy, well- that just makes me feel like i’m not too far off from that, just got to build muscle…however i’m short…5’4….and I desperately do not want to look like a bulldog lmao

idk…like- I feel if I had a good workout routine and diet (not necessarily a specific diet, just like- good eating habits and eating things that I can healthy eat for the rest of my life and still get all my nutrients while also supporting my working out and all) that i’d probably have that body by now

It's such a tiny innocuous thing that really doesn't matter, but I feel like calling duel monsters a children's card game (when it's fundamentally baked into everyday life, and your social existence is judged by what you play and how you play it so very intensely, for everyone in-universe) is an absolute injustice to what it is for that universe of people.

#marwospeaking #The following tags are a rant. please skip if you are not interested in reading a whole rant #to be clear. actual real life ygo sure. you can call that a children's card game (even if card game is just easier anyway) #but. in universe you Would Not call it a children's card game. not even sure you'd call it a game at that point #ygo worldbuilding fascinates on different levels. and to be honest this thought came to be via the abridged Shun compilation video #because he does mention children's card game (paraphrased) often earlier on in reference to in-universe duel monsters #but. for some people it literally defines if you die or not (Shun Was/Is In A War). for others it's your ticket to not go to jail because #you're too powerful to not be let off the hook (survival of the fittest kinda stuff really) #if you even dare not show up to a match. with crowds Equal To A Football/Soccer Championship. your family is in social ruins (Yusho) #these cards house spirits. and can be used for so many varied things between ending the world. starting the world. and coldblooded murder #and treating all of that as though its below a character. not because they're untouchable. but because of an age demographic #I feel misses a point about Arc V that I'm not sure I can quite articulate without sounding fully manic #in other series too! Synchro causes the world to end because it attracts some giant anti-synchro bois (meklords) #Numbers can either possess or take the form of someone's personal desires and feelings (Titanic Moth and Hope Harbinger are the same card) #(just different monsters because two different people used the exact card) #The God cards. the sacred beasts. the whole of GX's dimensional shenanigans and most definitely Yubel and Winged Kuriboh #Even in Vrains. which is very mild compared to the previous 3 installments. its still baked in their society. Its just aggregated #into cyberspace. That's not mentioning the Tortures that revolved around duelling to train AIs on children's brains so you could have.. #.. cyber immortality. and then you choose to kill the AIs that you see as like children to you - mentioned directly to your biological son #ANYWAY. tldr. Having an in-universe character calling Duel Monsters a children's card game outside of DM specifically is a fundamental.. #.. misunderstanding of how important it socially is in-universe. and it'd be much more understandable for someone whose life isn't dictated #by how well he can play it to say anything along the lines of 'its beneath me!!' than fuckign Kurosaki Shun are you kidding me. #We won't make an actual point at how the social lives of people don't seem to be solved by talking as much as duelling. no. we'll say.. #.. its for children so we can point and laugh at how weird it is!! a ship that is unpopular that I still like...I couldn't say, partly because I am not sure about what's popular and what's not. Pruhun? They're not that popular. If not them...hunro? It's not really popular. Sorry I suck at these kind of questions.

A ship that I secretly like...aight so I have this OC that represents Moldavia. NOT Moldova. It's a region that used to be it's own principality(and it's also my birthplace :] ), and sometimes Moldova was part of it actually. Eventually it united with Wallachia to form Romania(btw she is related to Moldova, but not to Romania/Wallachia. Its complicated). I ship her with some characters I guess, but never talk about it so it's kinda like a secret. She's also on the aroace spectrum somewhere, but like she does like having realtionships and stuff (in her aroace way), so not romance nor sex repulsed.

She's got a really strong & deep queerplatonic thing/situationship/whatever going on with Ro but I wouldn't call it exactly a ship, although they did unite to form Romania(before that, Ro used to represent only Wallachia), and some consider union a marriage of sorts. And I kinda ship her with Bulgaria in a way?? Idk Ro & Bul & Moldavia got a weird thing going on together since they were kids in my story(actually all the characters in my stories have weird things going on together). I think Bul & Moldavia would have probably been kinda close, perhaps not as close as Ro & Bul, but they really do care about eachoter. Also...perhaps Poland & her? Pol & Moldavia interacted sometimes in history, and geographically they were close I guess. Idk I suck at remembering the history of my own region at the moment sorry lol (i probably have more ships with her I can't remember at the moment)
