So the day after our local Airshow last October, I decided to wake up stupid early to drive to Edwards AFB for their first airshow in 13 years because I just had to go. There was some must-sees there, including SOFIA(the airborne telescope on her last flight), numerous NASA Test Aircraft, and flights of a B-1, F-22, KC-135 refueling, The Thunderbirds, and of course the multiple real sonic booms. The desert sun and heat kinda sucked and the drive home was long, but it was hard to beat watching aerobatics while eating lunch in the shade of a B-1 Bomber.

My USAF Thunderbirds photos from Aerospace Valley Air Show 2022, Edwards Air Force Base, California. I”m a novice at aviation photography but I’m already addicted. I used to go to air shows all the time when I was a kid and I never thought I could ever recapture the wonder I felt but I was so wrong. The magic of flight is forever real. This was the best event I’ve ever attended in my life.

STS-29 Discovery Approach at Edwards during Sunrise
flickr
STS-29 Discovery Approach at Edwards during Sunrise by NASA on The Commons Via Flickr: Space Shuttle Discovery's STS-29 mission concludes a sunrise landing at NASA's Dryden Flight Research Center (now NASA's Armstrong Flight Research Center) at Edwards AFB, California, early Saturday morning, March 18, 1989. Touchdown was at 6:35:49 a.m. PST and wheel stop was at 6:36:40 a.m. on runway 22. Controllers chose the concrete runway for the landing in order to make tests of braking and nosewheel steering. The STS-29 mission was very successful, completing the launch a Tracking and Data Relay communications satellite, as well as a range of scientific experiments. Discovery's five-person crew was led by Commander Michael L. Coats, and included pilot John E. Blaha and mission specialists James P. Bagian, Robert C. Springer, and James F. Buchli. AU Game: Child Midoriya is caught in a Quirk accident and teleported to America
He ends up in the middle of Star's office. She is incredibly confused where a toddler suddenly popped up from, but once hearing the kid say something in Japanese is incredibly relieved it's at least a kid who speaks a language she knows.
Izuku is startled enough to stop crying at the sight of a hero he recognizes, since let's be real even as a toddler he'd be enough of a hero fanboy to recognize Star and Stripe. She is incredibly relieved by this as well and honestly very impressed he did it while she was in ratty sweats from her Academy days, doing paperwork she'd put off for a month.
Izuku thankfully has his home phone number memorized. Star promptly calls it, willing to swallow the cost of an international call (obviously) and quickly gets a very freaked out Inko (since her son just got caught in a Quirk accident and vanished). Cate offers to pay for a plane ticket for Inko so she can come and get Izuku since obviously it's a terrible idea to put a toddler on a plane alone (who also has no passport) and Star is the US Number One and can't really leave at the drop of a hat (especially not after her recent vacation in Key West). Inko accepts.
Izuku has a great week (she wasn't able to get a faster ticket unfortunately and Inko did need to arrange things with work and really, how much safer could Izuku be right now anyway??) with Star and her brothers, getting shown around Edwards, getting to have an adventure in LA, taken to Disneyland, and probably fed too much unhealthy food.
Cate is absolutely delighted to discover Izuku has a very cute and single mother. Her brothers are absolutely already planning the wedding and Izuku is perfectly willing to help figure out how to get a second mom especially if the second mom is Star and Stripe. He will totally be the most adorable ringbearer ever.
