One thing I find interesting about Waver's students is that a lot of them face similar issues of the possible loss/death of their identity and personality by way of being subsumed by a greater supernatural force.
Gray was raised as the vessel of King Arthur and everytime Artoria was summoned more of her body changes to become like her and erase who she was.
Flat is the conclusion of a 1,800-year plan in which the next step of human evolution secretly implanted within his family's Magic Crest would eventually take over his body.
Svin is more of a vessel for his magecraft than its user, and he is acutely aware that his Bestial Magecraft will eventually consume him and he will become a beast in truth. Already he has trouble remembering some of his past.
Ergo contains three gods within his body from consuming their flesh but because they are so much vaster than him, everytime he uses their powers it erases his memories to make more "space", and eventually the three gods will completely erase him. As of the latest novels, Ergo has even forgotten most of the first novel, including how he first met Rin.
I find that interesting. There's probably some link that could be made between this tendency and Waver and how his "Lord El-Melloi II" title has overtaken his "Waver Velvet" identity.

OH about the finale at the shrine, this completely slipped my notice when we were talking about it, but Ichi says he's "reporting" Jo's verdict to both Arakawa and Masato. It's just not translated that way.
Not too big of a difference (well, it is to me, but I'm insane), but if it was highlighting anything, I'd guess it's probably Masato's change of heart. It would've been fair for Ichi to assume Masato wouldn't care and only "report" to Arakawa, but in the context of Ichi doing his damnedest to show Masato they all love him, it works in terms of, "Maybe I made him reconsider, and maybe now he would care."
Also... I'm looking at it in a "measured" way, since the chapter trophies are always just standard "Nth Chapter Cleared" messages that the localization team just spices up for us, but there's something I find really poignant about the Chapter 13 trophy being worded as "Fate of Our Fathers." The pluralization of both the noun and pronoun. Realizations that come too late.
Of course, Masato definitely didn't "know" and had no real reason to suspect it, but the Arakawas have this bizarre subconscious almost-psychic link. So even if he doesn't really think so, there's this sense that Ichi "might as well" be Arakawa's "real" son because they're so much more alike. And maaaybe he felt that way about Jo and himself at one point, because (as we've discussed) there has to be a reason Jo was Masato's "favorite."
[Follow up to this ask]
#snap chats#yeah i have no real notes sorry LMAO LIKE THIS IS GOOD ON ITS OWN YK. every base is covered#LIKE nothing i could say could really enhance anything or add much. god im so bad at words i should drop dead right now#i can reaffirm that masato definitely sees ichi as arakawass 'real' son if his whole 'you remind me of dad' bit is anything to go off of#thats a weird line/sentiment now aint it#masato didnt consider him and ichi as family and ergo he's angry at how similar ichi and arakawa are#i guess that's more of a deep-dive into that hypothetical masato essay ill probably never get to- why masato hates arakawa like he does#about 'fate of /our/ /fathers/' tho thats def an interesting point no matter how you slice it#'our fathers' could refer to arakawa and sawashiro and ichi and masato respectively#i.e. masumi- ichi's bio father and sawashiro- masato's bio father- and what happens to them by the end of the game yk#there's an alt way to see if as both arakawa and sawashiro as both ichi and masato's fathers#though im gonna chewing my cheek on that one. sure we've compared sawashiro to an abusive stepparent#idk... i think it's just cause ichi shows up well into his teens that it doesnt register in my brain that sawashiro could be a father figur#but thats MY personal dumb ass rambling im just here to vaguely try to interpret the title in multiple ways to cover everything#moving on tho... the use of 'our' prevents 'fathers' referring to only one of them . so. Aforementioned Possibilities have been listed#making it sound like i have anything else to say I DONT I ALREADY SAID EVERYTHING dummy. putting myself in the dunce corner#on that note. hopefully it finally got through to masato how much people loved him before he got ganked#i mean for sure it did but yk. still mad about y7 ending im gonna kill someone In Minecraft#'i have nothing else to say' LIAR YOU ARE A LIAR !!!!! THE FUCK ARE THESE TAGS STUPID ASS#anyway im going back to my google doc. im almost done with another cringe fic. sorry#BYE

> new series release (space babies) coincided with the uk seeing the northern lights for the first time in years
> the devil’s chord coincided with paul mccartney’s long-missing hofner bass guitar being found, by a doctor who fan no less
> boom coincided with an actual meteor crash
> 73 yards is coinciding with a rise in bizarre supposedly-occult animal sacrifice rituals in britain (the folk horror part) and rishi sunak finally calling a general election (the political drama part)
> hypothesis: russell t davies has somehow managed to tune in to the universe’s divine frequency ??
> conclusion: messing with the forces of fate, cause&effect and coincidence, even if it’s for the pop culture franchise you’re showrunning, actually turns it into an egregore, but only if it’s been going for long enough (sixty fucking years to the dot) and watched by enough people (tens of millions). which it has
> ergo, postscriptum: television magick is real and is being unintentionally performed by the creators + audience of the world’s silliest science fiction show

Alicent in Reds
In the show Alicent spends her first few years as a dutiful and generous wife. Standing up for Rhaenyra, not pushing for Viserys to change the order of inheritance, wearing Targaryen colors and having Targaryen children. She isn't necessarily happy with her fate but is putting in the effort to get along. Ergo, we see her wear a lot of red and black during this time. I also wanted to have the lines and shapes of the ensemble match with things Rhaenyra has worn in the past to try to push the idea of family unity.
The more I look into the costumes of the show the more I can see little bits where the costumes tried to do some character+world development but the fabric choices undermine them every step of the way. Especially that black "leather" dress with gauzy sleeves. The idea is good but the result looks comical in it's environment.

Volume 1 of Lord El-Melloi II's Adventures translation is done! Translated by Azwhoisverybored, edited by Narmbo, and compiled by ProtoformX. (I didn't have anything to do with this, I'm just the messenger).
This sequel series takes place 3 years after El-Melloi II's Case Files and adds Rin to the main cast. It's about the mystery behind an amnesiac young man named Ergo with the power of Divine Spirits, and how Waver can help him and maybe in the process also stop Gray's Saberfication. In the same way that Case Files expanded on Clock Tower lore, this series expands on international mage lore, like Chinese and Japanese mages.

A few random thoughts I had on the new Fionna and Cake episodes:
--
At this point, I think we can pretty safely say that Bubblegum and Marceline are basically a romantic counterpart to Finn and Jake, ie; these two are actual soul-mates who will always come together regardless of the time or universe just as much as Finn and Jake will find a way to be reborn together.
--
A neat little continuity detail that I really liked was the fact that Marceline The Star doesn’t have her axe. In hindsight, it’s pretty clear at this point that Hunson first meeting Marceline was because Simon summoned him, or somehow arranged for him to be summoned before leaving Marceline (which itself makes perfect sense given Simon’s study of the occult). Ergo, Simon never meeting Marceline in this timeline means no Hunson being summoned. Therefore, no axe for Marcie.
--
I think we can really appreciate the irony of the Lich’s fate in Episode 8 when we consider that this universe is almost certainly the one created by the Lich’s wish to Prismo to end all life on Ooo. Because despite getting his wish, this Lich’s fate actually mirrors that of the Lich who had his wish undone by Jake: Just as that Lich was stranded in Prismo’s chamber where nothing can die, this Lich is stranded on a world where nothing can die, because everything that CAN die already has.
Thus both have been left devoid of all purpose.
It says something interesting about the Lich that even in the one universe we’ve seen where he unequivocally, unambiguously won, he STILL found a way to lose.

Katsuki Bakugou x Popular/MeanGirl!reader - oneshot about Katsuki loving his ruthless girlfriend!
Ok, the title is a little misleading, you're not that mean! you just do unto others what they do to you...and Katsuki loves it. As always, please let me know if you want more, and if you have any ideas for the future <3 calling this a songfic, because it's hugely based on Don't Touch! by Lil Mariko
warnings: lots of cursing, mentions of castration, and one chaotic good(?) reader
______________________________________________________________
When you first arrived at UA, a late entry as you lived in the Americas prior, everyone loved you, and surprisingly that included Bakugou. Of course, it took him a long time to warm up all the way, but you started dating after a few months of getting to know each other. What could he say? You were pretty, smart, patient with him, and best of all, you didn't take crap. He learned that the first week of your arrival, when his attempt to bully you fell short. You actually took a liking to him, so he was spared most of the passive aggressive fate he saw you give some others. You were just nice to people who were nice to you, ergo most considered you sweet as candy while some considered you a total bitch.
You were hot and you knew it, and believe it or not it caused a lot of people to spread rumors about you. He'll never forget the first time he saw you in action, it was as satisfying as it was attractive. While walking to lunch, a pair of 2nd years were standing to the side whispering and pointing to you. one of them yelled out, "slut," while the other laughed. You, being the bad bitch that you are, turned around, smiled pleasantly, and put on your best innocent demeanor. "aw, I'm really sorry for getting your dick hard, maybe next time try and keep your eyes a little higher, yeah?" It. Was. Magnificent. The two were flabbergasted to say the least, and Katsuki himself was glad to finally see someone who didn't act like a saint all the time.
Long story short, you were his other half, and he had gotten used to your mocking, sarcastic way of handling assholes...until the day of the Sports Festival. You and Katsuki were were perusing the food stands, you dragging him around from place to place, him trailing behind like the grump he was. One stand actually caught his eye, a sign claiming to have the spiciest sauce in the city to compliment their renowned Takoyaki. You were standing with him, looking around while holding his hand, when out of the corner of your eye you saw someone point towards you. You didn't turn your head, not wanting them to know you noticed, but kept an ear out to see what they were saying.
"yeah, he's the one I was telling you about."
"that guy? No way he's with a girl like her."
"I know, right? He has to be keeping her with him, probably scaring her into staying."
Oh hell no. You weren't going to let this slide, it was one thing to talk about you, but a whole other thing to talk about your relationship. You whipped around, yanking a very confused Katsuki with you. Katsuki had heard the two talking, but was far too enamored with the spicy sauce to actually listen. "Hey," You yelled, using a voice Katsuki hadn't heard out of you before as you raised the hand holding Katsuki's into the air for all to see. "See this?! This means he loves me, so next time you go and make assumptions, why don't you keep your damn mouth shut?!" You step closer to the pair of stunned teens, wearing a look that could kill. Your voice was low and menacing now, making sure they understood every syllable. "Next time I hear you talk shit about my boyfriend, I'll take the Louis Vuitton's He bought me, hunt you down, and castrate you."
The two whimpered, stuttering out a response but unable to finish before running off with their tails between their legs. You watched them dash, one hand on your hip and the other in Katsuki's, before turning to him with that same bubbly smile you always had. "Alright, let's go get ice cream, I'm still hungry!" He had this unreadable expression on his face, and when you tried to pull him to the ice cream he stood stock still. "...What...?" You were fearing the worst.
Were you too much for him? Did he realize he wanted someone nicer, like Ururaka or Momo? This time, he did dragging of his own, yanking you in the opposite direction. He pulled you along without another word, looking left to right, before stopping next to an empty vending stand. "Katsuki, what are you doing," You asked, he was worrying you.
He looked around again, making sure no one was watching, before yanking into the stand with him.
He never answered you with words, but the way he made out with you for the remainder of the Festival break kind of spoke for him. Right then, when you were threatening those extras, was the moment he realized he loved you. Actually, no. He already knew he loved you, despite the fact he never said it (yet). Right then was the moment he knew he'd marry you. You wouldn't know that story from his perspective until he told it at your wedding.
______________________________________________________________
hope you enjoyed, I had this story on my mind all last night and was just itching to write it! let me know if you want more of this!

whys and hows aside, ultimately what “summer joined salem” comes down to is:
salem has one more person working for her whose existence has been confirmed (seer call in v4 from beacon after establishing that all known agents are not there) but identity never revealed.
none of her other agents have had their identities obscured: even lionheart is revealed to be her spy upfront. the mystery surrounding the identity of this character is unique—ergo, narratively consequential.
“what happened to summer rose?” is a central narrative mystery which has thus far been partially answered in this order: a) she met salem, b) salem perhaps did something other than killing her, c) raven was involved and whatever happened turned her past admiration for summer into the scorn on display at haven.
the timeline on summer being made into a hound does not add up (the hound is “an experiment” and a novelty to both salem’s enemies and her inner circle now—salem met summer approx. fourteen years ago) but it’s deeply unlikely that the narrative would have flagged the possibility of fate-other-than-death if she were actually dead.
the conclusion that salem turned summer into a hound is offered by ruby, on minimal evidence; in v4, ruby hears tyrian waxing poetic about his “goddess” and with no hesitation goes “cinder,” which is to say ruby has a demonstrable tendency of jumping to conclusions based on incomplete information that are close but nevertheless very wrong.
so the narrative has given us these pieces:
summer met salem.
salem probably did not kill her.
summer can’t have been grimmed.
summer broke raven’s trust, badly.
salem has had an anonymous agent holding beacon, we have known this since v4, and we have yet to find out who this person is.
what happened to summer rose?
the anonymity of the person on the other end of that seer call is the keystone holding everything together. the facts pertaining to summer rose alone don’t necessarily add up to “turncoat,” only “not dead and not a hound,” but when taken into account with the open question of who salem has at beacon, then the simplest, most straightforward answer is that summer joined her.
the point of keeping the beacon lieutenant’s identity a secret is to maintain suspense. it is a character the audience already knows—or knows of. (the reason salem’s reveal at the end of v3 works is because she’s been the narrator since the beginning, for example.) with the way the cast is set up, this more or less requires that the beacon lieutenant be a turncoat; the other possibilities are tai, glynda, oobleck, and port. if it’s any of them, the separate mystery of what happened to summer rose remains and must still be answered in order to resolve that increasingly central narrative question, and the how and why tai or glynda or oobleck or port joined salem needs to be answered too. if summer is the beacon lieutenant, the narrative answers two questions with one answer.
