I feel like that changes every single day jdjskfkf I definitely listen to HNOC the most because i cannot overstate how in love with Galahad I am, but outside of being a lovestruck fool i think UDAD is my favorite overall?? I have always been obsessed with greek mythos, especially with such a unique twist its hard not to be obsessed.. all of the characters are so good and well fleshed out as well. especially with the additional mechs fiction..

FINALLY FINISHED MY HNOC PATCH!!! It’s very wibbly wobbly but I worked very hard on it so idc.

Actually very happy with how it’s turned out, especially considering originally I was worried the colours were too light (they literally darkened as I worked on the patch lol). In comparison, my UDAD one seems very scruffy now lmao, but at least that shows I’m making improvements!! Stabbed myself so many times making it though 😭😭

Shuri was the last to enter the gilded room before sitting down next to a pregnant Okoye and indifferent Namora.

Ayo arched a brow at the queen.

Ayo: You look stressed, my Queen.

Shuri, waving off her formalities: We have a problem.

Namora: What is it?

Shuri: I've upset my husband.

Ayo: So, you have a problem. Not we.

Shuri: Yes.

Okoye: What did you do?

Shuri: I told him I hated him, and he's been avoiding me ever since.

Okoye: Avoiding?

Shuri: He no longer visits my lab. He does not sleep in our room. I rarely see him anywhere in Wakanda.

Ayo: Any affection?

Shuri: None. He doesn't even look at me during our meetings with the council. He seems so cold now.

Namora: That is called a consequence. Not a problem.

Shuri: And that conment is not helping me come up with a solution.

Ayo: Why did you tell K'uk'ulkan that you hate him?

Okoye: Especially when you know he's extra sensitive to your words.

Shuri: He was being annoying and it was pissing me off. Like- he knows I was working hard on something and he got mad at me because I forgot something he had planned out.

Ayo: Shuri. He planned something out and you stood him up. You're the bad guy in this situation.

Shuri: I am not-

Namora: -You know he will never escape the judgment of others pertaining to the wrongs he's done to you and Wakanda. You saw how everyone was against your wedding. *crosses her arms* You should have just ran your spear through him if you did not want the burden of his affection. It would be more honorable than this.

Shuri: I- *sighs under Namora's glare* Ok. How do I fix this?

Ayo: You're going to have to drop the act.

Shuri: The act?

Okoye: Being difficult with him. You're going to have to be affectionate and open and sincere.

Shuri: Affectionate? Like... PDA...?

Okoye: Yes. And actually doting on him. Everyone wants to feel loved and appreciated by their spouse.

Shuri: Can't I just sleep with him?

Namora: Being intimate with your lover is not a remedy. You must resolve things with words. You know that intimacy holds great meaning between lovers in Talokan. Do not offend Aj K'uk'ulkan further by suggesting such a thing.

Shuri: This sucks.

Ayo: Then maybe you shouldn't go around telling him you hate him.

Shuri: I don't want to hear anything from you Ayo. Let's not forget how you made Aneka cry for those ducklings.

Ayo: Not wanting to deal with duck poop is way less serious than telling Aneka I hate her.

Okoye: I agree.

Namora: The two of you are undeserving of your companions' affection for making them cry and suffer so much.

Ayo: I don't want to hear that coming from someone who's married to a woman with a blood kink.

Namora: Oni likes blood in combat. It does not cross over into our relationship. She is treasured properly unlike your lovers.

Ayo: What about that time you landed her in a wheelchair.

Namora: That was because I pleasured her too much. *shrugs* She was spoiled thoroughly during her recovery. I now know her limits very well.

Shuri: I'm still surprised you top Oni.

Namora: There is no top or bottom. We just do whatever feels right in the moment.

Ayo: Wait! You've been on the bottom?

Namora: Have you ever seen Oni tipsy or after a sparring session?

Ayo: Ah. I understand. Drunk Aneka is something else entirely.

Okoye pulled out a comtainer of cubed fruit before getting teary as she looked inside.

Ayo: Udade?

Okoye, holding up a heart-shaped piece of honeydew with her fork: I've been craving melons like crazy lately, so Attuma packed me a container of honeydew today. *sniffles* And he cut every piece into a heart.

Shuri: I-Is that bad?

Okoye: No. It's just so cute. *sniffles*

Namora: But you are crying.

Okoye: If you were pregnant, you would understand. *pops a piece of fruit into her mouth* These hormones are serious.

They all nodded in agreement before refocusing on the Queen's dilemma.

Okoye, pointing her fork at the Shuri: What are you going to do?

Shuri: Short black dress tactics?

Ayo: Mm... no.

Namora: You should wear something from Talokan.

Shuri: Ok. *makes notes* Then I find him and apologize. Maybe call him my king? Bat my eyes a little.

Okoye: It must be sincere.

Shuri: it will be. I just might need a bit of liquor in my system.

Ayo: Shuri.

Shuri: What!?

Okoye: Absolutely not.

Shuri: That's too much to do sober.

Ayo: You married him!

Shuri: And I'm trying to fix our marriage.

Okoye: Bast give us strength.

Namora: You must be clear and sober with your apology. He will know your intentions, and you may face his wrath if you half ass it.

Shuri: Fiiiinnne. I'll try.

Ayo: And. If all goes well- you'll report back to us with good news.

Shuri: If it works.

Namora: It will work if you are sincere.

Shuri: Right. *takes a deep breath before exhaling* Sincere

We finally get to see the other side of the wife worship quad. Namora could definitely be a part of the wife worship squad, but she's never as explicit as Oni. So. That's why she's over here.

1. Stranger, The harmonies and overlap is just BEAUTIFUL

2. Blood and whiskey, and while im thinking about it, really everything from high noon, its such a good album, but i just like the style of the song and Gueniveres part is fun to sing, blood and wiskey and hanged man rusts are usually the two songs i find myself singing without thinking about it

3. Ties that bind from UDAD, I won’t lie UDAD isn’t my favorite mechs album (still fantastic don’t get me wrong) but this is just so fun to sing, same with the other songs by the suits, all the suits songs are really good in their own ways, me and Rafaella just happen to share a vocal range meaning I am partial to songs sung by her

4. Alice, not only do i absolutely love alice in wonderland, but every part of this song is fuckin wonderful, ashes singing in the beginning, Tim and Brians accents being absolutely ridiculous, THE TOY SOLDIERS PART AS THE QUEEN OF HEARTS, Really just all the songs in TBTT vol 2 are wonderful, and i wish i had the space to put more of them on here, because there are other ones i absolutely adore, like Actaea and Lyssa and Twisted Threads, and of course lucky sevens and Lost in the cosmos

@rainbowstargazerlilies has The Stars Claim Them, which is a TMA/Mechs crossover. While I usually don't like crossovers that much, she writes all of the characters so well that it just Feels Right.

Immediate thought was Tim & Ivy, everyone needs to think about them more all the time. I also love TS & Marius, every photo with them together makes me so happy

21. what’s your favourite mechanisms headcanon? (maybe some big worldbuilding thing or can just be I think this mech is asexual for example)

I'd thought of an answer earlier and now I don't remember... I've been spinning the concept of Circe!Raphaella during UDAD and while I wouldn't call it my favorite, I do like it. Also that Stranger is actually a thing that happened to Brian, and anything angsty I've written about Tim's eyes (especially that his tears feel horrible and viscous on his face)

1. i've listened to a couple of mechs songs!! i need to listen to more. i've listened to half of UDAD and a couple miscellaneous songs (pump shanty, loki, our boy jack, lost in the cosmos etc.) also i love their designs so much they're so cool looking. especially ashes i love them

2. favourite album is for sure 1896 (closely followed by mk iii) it's so so good and full of absolute bangers. favourite song,,, i have so many but on a crescendo, i'll rust with you, the pulls, intertwined, on top of the universe (steamworld heist), latum alterum, transform, bad days on the horizon, the ballad of delilah morreo, the suspender man... etc. i will start listing the whole discography if no one stops me

3. RABBIT!!!!! she's so silly. would do anything for the bit. but her story and character are so incredibly tragic and ougjhhghgj i have so many thoughts about her. and her tendency to carry all the people she has ever cared about with her in her music. and the fact that she still feels guilty about the 1950 incident, which wasn't her fault in the slightest :( her ever-shifting design. AND HER SONGS. so many emotions. i think about rabbit a normal amount.

4. i have so many favourite photos. i have an entire folder on my laptop of every single rabbit design chronicled by date and show for drawing reference. JKHSDF i'll put some standouts from the many photos i have accumulated under the cut:

5. i kind of have a fanbot? but she doesn't really count i think sjkdhfs. when i first got into spg it was through honeybee (like literally everyone else). and i decided to for some reason read all of the lore before listening to any other songs. and i also decided to design honeybee as a robot rabbit might have fallen in love with (and subsequently broke up with). it turns out honeybee has a canonical design i think - if the cover art of honeybee is anything to go by. oh well. i still like this funky bee bot design. maybe i'll design an actual fanbot someday!

Just listened to The Bifrost Incident for the first time and Oh My God. ITS SO GOOD!!!! I love it so much and part of me was thinking “why did no one ever tell me it was THIS good?” But also like,,, you do, people online do. (I’m the only IRL person I know who listens to them but I just got a friend into TMA and he seems like he’ll love all of this.

Anyway I’m just generally shook by how good it was. Like don’t get me wrong, I’ve listened to OUATIS and UDAD (still need to listen to HNOC) and I really liked them both (especially OUATIS) but by God I truly loved this one.

for favorite mechanism HONESTLY it's most accurate to say it's a tie between ashes and nastya and marius, but if i had to choose just one it would be nastya! she is just so cool !!

my favorite album has changed a lot, at first it was OUATIS, then after i listened for a while it was HNOC, now after i took a break for a while and started listening to them a lot again it's TBI. the premise and themes of that one are definitely my favorite overall and i am an unapologetic lyfrassir enjoyer. (sorry UDAD at least 2 of your songs are in my top 5...)

my favorite song is actually pretty easy! it's sleeping beauty and it's been my favorite basically since i first listened to the mechanisms. i absolutely love it when the mechanisms themselves are present in the story they're telling (underworld blues and the hanged man rusts are also pretty up there for me for this reason) but my favorite from each of the other main albums are elysian fields, blood and whiskey, and sigyn

RIGHT??? i went through the albums starting with OUATIS and HNOC so going from those to UDAD left me absolutely Stunned! He sounded so good as Ulysses i just cant believe his voice could turn into theirs like that, especially since i found the mechanisms through a TMA fic so i also had the Archivist voice association! UDAD blew my MIND and my name is no one was sooooo sososo good!! also the fact they introduced Oedipus as "that blind old motherfucker" made me scream

You mentioned possibly a post of your opinions on TMA as a podcast? I would be very interested.

Oh! Sure! I won’t be maintagging this because I just got out of some drama and don’t want to go starting more. But essentially I don’t have a problem with the concept of TMA I think it’s really good and I listened to four seasons of it. I just think….Of Jonny Sims’ work it’s not the best?

To me the writing falls a little flat especially with the character work. A lot of the conflict doesn’t make sense to me as it boils down to people being angry at Jon…Just because he’s the easiest target for their anger? You get things like Tim telling him to just stop being paranoid and Georgie telling him it would have been better if he died. Melanie seeming to dislike him…For no reason? I mean of course all of the characters have reasons but they’re not great ones usually (I think Tim is maybe an exception but barely). Jon is just as much a victim as they are. I’m not a defender I just fail to see what else he personally was supposed to do when it’s clear he started the series already at a disadvantage.

On top of that there’s just. The concept of Daisy and Basira as a whole for me. Daisy canonically killed some innocent people in her tenure as a cop and if that were something Elias were lying about it wouldn’t have been effective blackmail. She commits an act of violence against Jon very early on that mostly goes undiscussed and Basira just. Virtually never stops making excuses for her. There was that awkward portion after the Buried where Daisy even? Befriends Jon? Which is very odd to me? It’s not technically copaganda at all but I just don’t think either of them should have been permanent fixture characters in the way they were. I won’t mention here the S5 police brutality episode because it has been addressed by the creators but it is very much a thing that happened.

Thirdly and this is a personal thing, I just. Did not like s5. I found it to be disjointed, uncomfortable, and an altogether different feel than the rest of the series that felt confusing and rushed and less “oh this is spooky! Fun!” And more “this has ceased to be escapism and is more uncomfortable than anything”. The ending of “maybe they lived but maybe they didn’t” is just. Too much for a series that ran for five seasons. You can have tragedy that feels fulfilling too is the thing. Jonny (and crew) have written many good examples in their time as the mechanisms. (UDAD, TBI, even HNOC is more satisfying than this) An audience can accept the heroes dying if it’s done properly and TMA just doesn’t leave me with that feeling it feels more like a bad marvel film where you go through all this build up for no payoff. They’re not at rest. They’re not alive. We get nothing. We are left. With nothing.

Finally? Rusty Quill as a company just. Seems eh? To me? I’m concerned about their business practices, how much they may or may not be inserting themselves into the production and distribution of unrelated podcasts they host, how they’ve been treating their employees including pay respect and the recent layoffs. I wish people would be more critical and realize that it is indeed a capitalist company and not just “those silly guys that made TMA”. They should be held to standards that I’m not entirely certain are being met. I have no proof just general observations and feelings.

But uh. Yeah? That’s about it. Love TMA it’s fun and I like to make oc content for it and poke at headcanons and lore. But idk if I’d ever actively relisten.
