Everybody's Fool ⸸ The Director

i. perfect by nature icons of self-indulgence

The Ministry was a simple, delightful place to indulge in many different sins. It was a good place to have fun for many.

To sleep around, to abuse substances, to practice the dark arts.

To do anything most would consider forbidden.

It was exactly what he loved about that place.

ii. look here she comes now bow down and stare in wonder oh how we love you no flaws when you're pretending

Sister Imperator was a good puppet. He had her for years, which meant he could prepare her for everything. She'd obey. She knew she had to. After all, she believed every word he said to her.

Everyone was pretending.

All the Siblings and ghouls. They were all pretending to like her. To care about her. In reality, they despised her, just waiting to get rid of her, like The Director would remind her every time she made a mistake.

She was pretending, too. Acting like she was confident. Like she was certain of her position. Like she knew what she was doing. In reality, she was terrified that she might lose everything she knows. Just like The Director told her she would if he wasn't there to protect her.

Fortunately, she was good at her act.

iii. and somehow you've got everybody fooled

It was so funny to him.

How just a few words could change things so easily. He could lie to anyone, be it something tiny, or something huge, with the right words, everything could be changed. For good or for bad. Mostly for bad.

It was incredibly fun. He loved it. Everyone would always fall for his words, no matter how sweet or cruel. And it was just delightful.

Because somehow, all his lies would eventually become truth.
