Green Lantern #49 (February 1994)
"EMERALD TWILIGHT," Part 2! Hal Jordan has gone so far off the deep end that he's started imitating one of history's most infamous monsters: Ringo Starr. After the events of last issue, a pissed-off Hal is speeding towards planet Oa to give his bosses, the Guardians of the Universe, a piece of (what's left of) his mind. The Guardians try to stop Hal by deploying formidable Green Lanterns like, uh, this red guy and that purple girl.
Tumblr media
Hal brutally whoops their asses and steals their GL rings to become more powerful; if he manages to nab 3597 more rings, he can become a One Man Green Lantern Corps. Hal's dangerous bling addiction even leads him to fight Lanterns he personally recruited into the Corps, like Tomar-Tu (the guy with the bird face who doesn't sound like Geoffrey Rush) and Boodikka, a fierce warrior who refuses to let go of her ring... so Hal just chops her hand off. I like to imagine a Green Lantern from some sort of phallus-shaped alien race turning around at this point and going home.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, in Oa, the Guardians seem pretty confident that one of their "servants" will stop Hal, but their arrogance starts evaporating with every ring he steals. Ganthet, paradoxically the least dickish of the Guardians despite being the only one wearing a ponytail, has some sort of secret plan for how they could "preserve themselves" if all else fails. At first, the others just mock him (for his plan, not the ponytail), but as Hal gets closer, they get nervous and start preparing for Ganthet's plan, whatever it is.
Hal finally reaches Oa and faces one of his best friends, Kilowog, the most distinguished trainer of the Green Lantern Corps and the Justice League's one-time handyman. Hal reminds his former mentor that he's got like ten rings by now, but Kilowog defiantly says, "Didn't I teach ya nothing? It's the warrior, not his weapons."
Tumblr media
As it turns out, nope, it's the weapons, because Hal defeats Kilowog too within one page. With no one else around to stop him, Hal heads for the Central Power Battery -- literally, a giant battery that powers every GL ring in the universe, and now Hal wants that power to himself (I guess stealing it from here is easier than figuring out how to wear 3600 rings on his fingers). However, the Guardians still have an ace up their oversized sleeves. A hooded figure walks out of the battery, and the final page reveals that it's the other "greatest Green Lantern ever" who went rogue: Sinestro! A villain so heinous that the Guardians executed him for "crimes against the universe," causing his soul to get trapped inside the Central Battery.
Tumblr media
Yes, the Guardians are so desperate that they're willing to give a GL ring to a guy whose name means "evil" and who has tried to kill them multiple times in the past. Interesting tactic. Will it pay off?!
NEXT ISSUE: It doesn't pay off.
Plotline-Watch:
When Sinestro is revealed at the end, we also find out that he'd been narrating the issue, which gives a double reading to lines like: "Were he not blinded by his obsession, would these acts wreak havoc on his conscience? I rather like to think so." That almost sounds like Sinestro's version of the Joker's "Far too late" moment from The Killing Joke.
Tumblr media
The fight with Kilowog could be seen as another callback to Emerald Dawn, Hal's origin story, since that contained a montage of 'Wog training Hal when he was a rookie... by making him balance rocks and catch eggs in the air and stuff. Would have been funny if Hal and Kilowog's dramatic face-off in this issue had consisted of an egg-catching contest. To the death.
Ganthet the Least Dickish Guardian first appeared in 1992's Green Lantern: Ganthet's Tale graphic novel by Larry Niven and John Byrne, which establishes that 1) he once drove himself insane by looking at the beginning of the universe, and 2), perhaps related to the above, he has a fondness for human fashion. Ganthet had appeared in exactly two issues of the regular series before this one, but he'll appear a lot more often and have plenty more chances to show off his fashion sense after this.
Tumblr media
Also in Ganthet's Tale, Hal learns the "forbidden knowledge" that the end and the beginning of the universe are linked together, which the other Guardians would have erased from his mind if Ganthet hadn't protected him. Not only will this little bit of trivia come in pretty handy for Hal as he starts toying with cosmic forces in the near future, but also, looking at the final panels in the graphic novel, Hal's comments about being disappointed in the Guardians' lies almost feel like a teaser for Emerald Twilight (which, again, was definitely not being planned in '92).
Tumblr media
Question for the Hal Jordan veterans in the comments (hi, Neil): was the idea that wearing more GL rings makes you more powerful already a thing before this issue? Seems like something a villain would have exploited by now. Or did Hal change how the rings work through sheer force of will?
Guy-Watch:
Meanwhile, in Guy Gardner's corner of the GL universe: the Guy Gardner series officially becomes Guy Gardner: Warrior with #17, which sees the debut of Guy's new moniker and his shorter, non-Moe hairdo. Plus, artist Mitch Byrd!
Tumblr media
In this issue, Guy finally works up the nerve to go back home and tell his abusive dad what he thought of him, only to find out that he died shortly after his brother Mace committed suicide. Both were assholes, but that's still pretty rough. Then, he's attacked by Militia, the armored loon we met last issue. The fight ends when Guy's yellow power ring (which, incidentally, used to belong to Sinestro) suddenly stops working, but luckily, Militia's armor happens to malfunction at the same time and he's ran over by a truck.
Tumblr media
Huh, curious that Militia has ginger hair too. Probably a coincidence. To be continued!

Like Halo? Look Into These:
So you're a massive Halo fan, but you're also looking to scatch your sci-fo itch by consuming material that's like Halo, yet you've no clue where to start. Say no more, I've got some recommendations for you.
Books
Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card- It's better than the movie, the movie is doo-doo. Anyways, this book is bascially just the first half of Halo: The Fall Of Reach, which is Master Chief's origin story, but done in a much more in-depth way due to fact that Ender's Game focuses ENTIRELY on the hero's origin and pretty much nothing else. Just imagine Ender as John and it's basically just John's origin from the Fall Of Reach.
Starhammer by Christopher Rowley - This is a really DARK book, I'm just gonna say it right now. It follows a genetically-engineered superman named "John," who meets and befriends a cute Computer-AI girl, who he teams up with to fight a species of eldritch, zombie fungus-aliens. Any of that sound familiar to you? WARNING: This is a very violent book with pretty graphic descriptions of everything that goes on, read at your own risk.
Larry Niven's Ring-World - Pretty much where the idea of Halo comes from, this book is about a strange, alien ring-world planet megastructure that the heroes go on wacky adventures on. Other than the ring-world itself... this book pretty much is nothing like Halo.
Movies & TV
Starship Troopers - Though the original 1959 book by Robert Heinlein is the grandfather of all sci-fi, the movie that's loosely based on the book is closer to the marines and propaganda of the UNSC than the book is.
Firefly - Nathan Fillion plays Malcom Reynolds, who is basically just Buck (it's the other way around, actually). If Starship Troopers is the UNSC (in the form of The Terran Federation), Firefly is a show that's in the perspective of The Insurrectionists (in the form of The Brown Coats).
Aliens - Basically it's Halo: Combat Evolved from 343 Guilty Spark and onwards, with the Xenomorphs taking the spot of The Flood. Hell, Sergeant Apone is pretty much just Johnson.
The Mandalorian - Mando/Din Djarin is more or less Master Chief. It you want a show about a mysterious and stoic warrior who wears a cool helmet that he never takes off and battles aliens for a living, then this is it.
Soldier - My personal favorite of the movies that are listed, Soldier focuses on an old supersoldier struggling to live among normal humans after being ejected and abandoned by the evil military that created him.
Games
Destiny - Cliche, I know. But it's another sci-fi FPS created by Bungie that centers around a culture of warriors harnessing the power of an ancient entity to battle several different aliens at once. It's vaguely like Halo in the loosest sense.
Marathon - A much older FPS sci-fi game that was ALSO made by Bungie, Marathon serves as a precursor to both Halo and Destiny and the influences that Marathon has on both of the later entries is GLARINGLY apparent.
Helldivers II - Wanna be an ODST?
That's it, that's all; I hope that this list helps you satisfy your sci-fi/Halo itch.

incomplete list of niche characters i restrained myself from submitting to the niche comic character tournament
Ryoko Sabuki/Radiance: 7 appearances. Granddaughter of Gwen Lou Sabuki, whom I did submit. Biggest sensation since Dazzler, which would mean more if Marvel remembered Ryoko existed. Light generation and manipulation, just like her grandma.
Ameiko Sabuki/Goldfire: 9 appearances. The dead sister of Ryoko. I don't think she ever even showed her face in her non-powered form.
Leyu Yoshida/Sunpyre: 9 appearances. The dead little sister of Shiro Yoshida/Sunfire.
Marnie/The Rumor: 9 appearances. Spider-Man side character. Badass old lady. Figured out Peter Parker = Spiderman in like two issues.
Takeshi Matsuya/Wiz Kid: 29 appearances. He's literally so funny to me. I think he should be allowed to say fuck.
Nuwa: 2 appearances, once in an X-Force annual and once in a Tabitha Smith oneshot story. Her personality shifts wildly between those two and they never elaborate on why.
Tamara Kurtz/Dragoness: 28 appearances. Evil and loving it. Has wings, but they're technological, not part of her mutation.
Rina Patel/Timeslip: 19 appearances. No hate to whoever submitted Robbie, but she is definitely the more niche New Warrior.
Georgia Dakei/DK: 13 appearances. I like it when teenagers sass tf out of adult characters I think it is so fucking funny.
Sybil Dvorak/Skein: 44 appearances. her original villain name was a slur and i am SO glad they changed it. canon sensory issues queen. Also evil and loving it. Canonically bisexual (for evil).
Larry Bodine: 1 appearance. This is the guy from New Mutants vol. 1 who killed himself after his classmates joked about outing him. Yes this is the issue of NM with Kitty's infamous slur speech.
Rebecca Littlehale/Lighttrakker: 3 appearances. Kid from Power Pack who could teleport to light sources she could see.
Helen Takahama/Jolt: 74 appearances, which makes her the least niche character here. I need to reread Thunderbolts. In MC2 (Mayday Parker's universe), she was an Avenger.
Charlie Burlingame/Charcoal: 41 appearances. Created by a reader via a Wizard magazine contest. Legal problems means that he was never brought back when he was killed off.

Chapter 5
Previous ~ Next
You all kept pressing forward back to Kahmunrah and Capone still made sure you wouldn't run off again. He was being protective over you. A bit overprotective to be honest. He was worried to lose you and was still going to keep his promise. Once you all got closer, you all could hear Mr. Daley and Kahmunrah arguing. They were arguing about the combination and that's when Capone took your hand again and led everyone inside and said loudly for the two men to hear, "We already got the combination. It's pi. 3.14159265".
He released your hand and slapped the Einstein when he tried to speak. "This crazy hair here. He sang, oh hoho, did he sing like a canary". You were hiding behind Capone and cowardly trembled as you saw Kahmunrah. "I'm sorry Larry".
"Well, ENOUGH OUT OF YOU" Capone yelled. That scared you and you held onto him tighter. "YOU REMEMBER WHAT HAPPENED LAST TIME" he said as slapped the Einstein bobble head. When you looked up, you saw that Kahmunrah took the tablet and tossed the hour glass over him in a careless fashion and Larry had almost missed catching it. Capone rested his hand on your head to comfort you since he felt that you were trembling in fear. "Must be a real bummer for you, Larry. Knowing that all of your valiant effort were in the end for naught. What a terrible disappointment you must be to yourself".
Kahmunrah entered the combination and the tablet started to glow. "Do you hear that humming sound? Do you know what that sound is"? Ivan raised his hand about to give a random answer but Kahmunrah annoyingly said, "It's rhetorical. That is the sound... Of the end". Kahmunrah then started to chant some ritual and you were terrified of what would happen next. Capone rubbed your head gently and you looked up at him to see he was giving you the look of reassurance. "Everything's gonna be alright". You held onto him tighter and he kept trying to calm you down but you were too terrified with whats going on.
Eventually, Kahmunrahs chanting made the black mumny on the door open and then the door opened. The inside looked like something you'd see in a harry potter movie and when everyone saw this, everyone had mixed emotions about this. Capone dropped the Einstein and held your hand tightly since he was just as scared as you were. "Welcome to the new extended rein of Kahmunrah. Fifth king of Egypt. And now, THE WORLD"!
Strange creatures with the heads of eagles and the body of men with spears came out of the door as more kept coming in. "HORUS! RAH! MY WARRIORS, COME FORTH! Send Larry Daley and his friends and that brat to their doom". The warriors came out of the door and one of them snatched you from Capone. He tried to get you back but the bird warrior tossed you into the middle where all the warriors were circling Larry and you. You looked over at Capone with fear and he and also Napoleon and Ivan were extremely worried.
Kahmunrah then ordered the warriors to stop and point their spears at you and Larry. Capone looked like he was about to beat the ever living crap out of Kahmunrah but you all then heard a voice shouting, "HALT"! When you all looked over, there was a squirrel with another small man on it. You couldn't tell what he was wearing but was acting like he was powerful. "The mighty Octavious has returned! I ride on the back of natures most fearsome creature! I ride... THE SQUIRREL"!
The squirrel then started to run towards you and Mr. Daley and it was a bit hilarious to watch. They stopped in front of you two and looked up Kahmunrah. "Do you wish to surrender honorably? Or must this end with the spilling of your blood"?
Kahmunrah looked up at you and Mr. Daley and said, "This? This is your big rescue"?
"Oh no... This is"!
What happened next blew your mind.
The marble statue of Abraham Lincoln from the Abe Lincoln Memorial had bursted from the window. Everyone was blown away and Kahmunrah asked, "What... Is that thing"?
"The name is Abraham Lincoln and you sir are in a heap of trouble".
"Attack it"! The bird warriors didn't do it at first but Kahmunrah then made bird noises like hawks and pointed at Abe. The birds threw their spears and it didn't even penetrate his marble body. "Disgusting half pigeons"! He smacked and flicked the birds off to the side. It didn't take much for the birds to be terrified and return back to the underworld. You were so confused as to what was going on that you mentally just said, "Whatever".
Kahmunrah tried to stop them but completely failed. Once they were all gone, everyone stood around awkwardly. "Well, this is awkward".
"It appears my work here is done" said Abe Lincoln. He then looked to Mr. Daley and said, "Just remember son, a house divided against itself, cannot stand". He then left and Ivan asked the question everyone was thinking. "What now"?
"You know I'm not quite sure. I suppose we should probably start by watching them die".

Classic Horde scientists
This is Modulok.
Tumblr media
He was a mad scientist on the planet Eternia, introduced near the end of the He-Man cartoon, in the episode “MIstaken Identity” by J. Michael Straczynski. He breaks himself out of the royal prison, where he was serving time for trying “to take over Eternia with a mind control machine he invented.” He contacts Skeletor and, surprisingly, gets rejected as an Evil Warrior. He also shows up in “Happy Birthday, Roboto”. These episodes first aired in November, 1984 and Modulok was one of half a dozen new characters being promoted as upcoming Masters of the Universe toys.
However, when his figure was released, he’d become a member of the Evil Horde!
Tumblr media
(He was also a nudist, where the animators had given him what appears to be a woman’s swimsuit with the top so ill-fitting that it’s fallen below his nipples/pecs).
He then reappeared in the She-Ra episode “Gateway to Trouble” (also by Straczynski), first aired in October 1985. He’s gone from being a solo villain to a member of Skeletor’s gang. He’s invented a portal machine, but Skeletor is treating him badly, so he takes the machine to Hordak on Etheria and is given the title Horde Scientist. However, by the end of the episode the portal machine is damaged and Hordak demotes Modulok to Horde Cook for not being able to fix it.
Straczysnki continued Modulok's story with a cameo in the episode "Enemy with My Face" in which he is seen attempting to regain Hordak's approval in order to become Horde Scientist again rather than Horde Cook. Although we don’t see this happen, the next time we see him, in “Just Like Me” (written by Gene Ayers), he is once again Horde Scientist and also an independent commander, rather than part of the Fight Zone staff. He reappears in this role in “Black Snow” (written by Larry DiTillio), where he seeks to weaken the Rebels by manufacturing a war between Frosta’s kingdom of snow humans and the Selkies.
Tumblr media
“Black Snow” also featured one of only three appearances by Modulok’s robotic creation Multi-Bot, whose toy was released in 1986.
Modulok was back at the Fright Zone for “Darksmoke and Fire” (Straczynski), where his latest invention accidentally sends She-Ra back in time. This brief appearance provides no further character development. Nor does Modulok and Multi-Bot’s final appearance in the Christmas Special (written by Bob Forward and Don Heckman), where they serve as crew of the helicopter Hordak takes to Eternos Palace to kidnap two Earth children for Horde Prime, alongside Catra and Imp.
Tumblr media
This is Professor Tempus. He made an unnamed appearance in the S1 episode “Small Problems”, then reappears with a name in S2 “The Time Transformer”. The latter is production code 73, and making a mute cameo watching the science is...
Tumblr media
Entrapta!
She first appeared at the beginning of Season 2, “One to Count On”, a Hordak-free episode where she acts as Catra’s second who specializes in building traps. Sadly, her first meeting with Hordak must have been off-screen before “The Time Transformer”. Their main interaction was her last speaking role, in “Romeo and Glimmer”, where he takes his captivating scientist’s Trapper Tank out with her to see how it performs against Castle Brightmoon. She-Ra throws it all the way back to the Fright Zone, causing this to happen to them:
Tumblr media
I hope he didn’t blame her for her invention’s failure instead of She-Ra and demote her to Horde cook!

Alrighty, here are games 90 to 81 on my list! If you haven't read part one yet, the link's under this sentence now! Here we go!
Link to part 1. Link to part 3. Link to part 4. Link to part 5. Link to part 6. Link to part 7. Link to part 8. Link to part 9. Link to part 10.
90. Saints Row IV
Tumblr media
I love the Saints Row series, and Saints Row IV is my favorite of the Steelport games, because of the ridiculousness of it all and meta aspects. I do love meta when it's done right. Also, the flight mechanics just flow perfectly. The gameplay is fantastic, as well.
89. Serious Sam 2
Tumblr media
Damn, I love Serious Sam, obviously, and Sam's third adventure (though second game since The First Encounter and The Second Encounter are part of the same game, that's how I reference it) is wacky, insane, and just a blast. You don't have to care about the story, because the game doesn't care about the story, it's just silly. It's not my favorite favorite, but it's still good.
88. Prison Architect
Tumblr media
Ah, the building genre, one of my favorites. Prison Architect takes the familiar formula and applies it to prison building. You really need to keep track of your inmates and guards, and make sure no one dies. The story mode isn't too bad either, it helps you learn the mechanics of the game.
87. Shantae: Half-Genie Hero
Tumblr media
Shantae, Shantae, Shantae. I love me some Shantae, and Half-Genie Hero is great. This is the best game to start with if you've never played the franchise. It's not a true metroidvania, but that helps players acclimatize to the style of gameplay.
86. Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines
Tumblr media
Ah, Bloodlines. It's an underrated cult classic that's been fixed up by its unofficial patch, and it's a great RPG that has wonderful characters and multiple endings. The voice work is great too, getting some real talent like Grey DeLisle and John DiMaggio. Definitely get this if you're into RPGs.
85. Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards
Tumblr media
Sierra adventure games are just good, for the most part, and the first Leisure Suit Larry is a fine, if short, game. The remakes aren't too bad either, so go with any version.
84. Theme Park
Tumblr media
Ah, Peter Molyneux. One of those creators you have to wonder if they had any talent at all nowadays because of their lies. But in the Bullfrog days, he could actually pull his games off, and Theme Park proved that, especially with the code being written by Demis Hassabis. It's a hardcore management sim with a whimsical coat of paint, and one you shouldn't miss.
83. The Outer Worlds
Tumblr media
One of Obsidian's better RPGs, The Outer Worlds takes the Fallout formula, transplants it into space instead of Post-Apocalypsia, and makes a great RPG. While it was partially Epic-delayed (I played it on Game Pass first.), it's still a fun adventure.
82. Blood
Tumblr media
I live, again. One of the holy trilogy of Build Engine titles, Blood is as great as Duke or Shadow Warrior, and has its own personality, with Caleb being more “evil” than Duke or Lo Wang. It's basically a Villain Protagonist against an even eviler group, to use TV Tropes language.
81. Hotline Miami
Tumblr media
“Do you like hurting other people?” It's a question asked a lot in Hotline Miami. Sure, you feel exhilarated while taking on each level, but you have to walk back through your carnage with a drone of dread. Add the mind-screw of the story and you have one unique game.
Part 3 will be up tomorrow! :D

Downton Cats / Warrior Abbey
just had an epiphany
lemme just put it in pictures.
Downton Abbey and Warrior Cats crossover.
Let's brush off rapidly how Downton is a clan in itself, with its internal and external politics.
Now let's see about the characters.
Mrs Patmore is Yellowfang. Same rough love, same taking under her wing the young unsure girl and transforming her into an assertive young woman/she-cat. Also, same relationship between Patmore-Daisy and Yellowfang-Cinderpelt, I mean Daisy is Patmore's apprentice in everything but the exact name for it.
Matthew Crawley is Firestar. Newcomer, doesn't understand everything going on, it's not his world. But he's eager to learn and he will have to because, somehow, he's expected to run the place when the current leader is gone.
On that note, series 1 to 3 Mary Crawley is Sandstorm. Doesn't want that newcomer to come. Doesn't like him at first. Warms up to him bit by bit. In the end they declare their love to each other and become a couple.
Still on that note, Lavinia Swire is Spottedleaf: she's Matthew/Firestar's ''other woman'' even if there never was a real love story between them. She dies to allow them to be together but her memory will haunt them for long.
Lady Violet is Bluestar. Matriarch of the clan, has a son and a daughter, is old and wise, is witty and funny, takes on herself to help a newcomer to get into the clan because it's necessary to the clan's thriving to welcome him. Led a long and fulfilling life. Woman of duty over love but still loves very much. Powerful without having to prove it. Respected by everyone even those who disagree with her. Has relationships everywhere (ministries, other countries... / clans, loners...). Is considered the equal or almost equal of the greatest (one of the greatest in Star Clan, and a familiar of the royal family despite not initially being in that circle). A son and a daughter in adult age, both very capable. Had this sort of adventure when she was young, with a foreigner (the russian count and also the french guy / a Riverclan warrior). Name is a colour.
Mrs Hughes is Mousefur. Guardian of tradition, kind of a matriarch of her own but not in the same way as Lady Violet/Bluestar. Witty, tongue-in-cheek if necessary. Is put in a pair with another somehow-elderly-but-not-that-much, except he's a male and everyone thinks they make a cute couple even when they are technically not. Said more-or-less mate is forced to retire because of a disability that prevents them from doing their job.
On that note Mr Carson is Longtail but I think their characters are different even if their narrative arcs are similar. Both very loyals tho, and both to their clan and to that evil/heartless-perceived character (Tigerclaw/Lady Mary). Clan loyalty is stronger anyway when heartless-perceived character wants to take them along when they're going away (Tigerclaw's exile/ Lady Mary almost marrying newspaper guy).
Sybil is Squirrelflight and Tom Branson is Brambleclaw. The rebellious daughter of the clan leader and the young guy who is badly considered because of his origins but is really an earnest, honest, candid young man who doesn't want anything but Sybil/Squilf's happiness. First elopement not leading to anything. More definitive mating. Character associated with grey colour trying to destroy them because he loved her (Larry Grey / Ashfur).
Hawkfrost is Kieran Branson, Tom/Bramble's brother who only appeared briefly but was everything the other characters feared Tom/Bramble would be when they only saw his origins. Tom/Bramble's final acceptance also comes from seeing the contrast between the two of them.
Gwen is Ravenpaw. Both were not happy with what they were doing/being/learning/working/whatevering in the clan. Both decided to leave and did it with the help of two friends (Anna and Sybil, Greypaw and Firepaw) to go do something they liked more. They both have a bit of nostalgia for what they left but don't regret leaving anyway.
John Bates is Jayfeather. They both have a disability that makes people think they are unfit for their work, they both prove everyone wrong. They both have this one kind female who loves them and helps them (Anna/Leafpool) who ends up being family (one by marriage, the other you know how). They both have a vengeful female from the past haunting them and doing everything she can to have them dead (Vera / Mapleshade). They are both taken off their work to get thrown into an entirely different world (jail / Jay Feather's time). They both have a conflicted relationship with a stick (walking stick, Stone's stick).
Well Vera is Mapleshade because they both became spiteful and heinous and criminals after being rejected by their mate for another female, also there is a crime at the origin of said rejection (Vera's stealing opening Bates' eyes / Mapleshade's kits drowning horrifying RiverGuy).
Edith is Hollyleaf. Has two siblings which are much more popular than her, one for the way they have of fighting (for what they want / without getting hurt) the other for being an arse but also being very important for the clan's functionnement (eldest child and marrying the heir / medicine cat). Feels much less special and is at some point ''confirmed'' she is not as special as them. She discovers a secret that could topple the entire family (Pamuk / parentage of everyone) involving a close relative of hers and a foreign guy, the scandal is they didn't control their hormons (basically), and Edith/Hollyleaf is, at some point, so spiteful against her own family she decides to air it (to the turkish embassy / to the gathering).
Peter Gordon is Sol. They weren't there for long, but what they said divided the clan. They are supposed to be liars in which case all the proven-to-be-true things they said were because they learned it from a very geographically distant ''relative'' (Patrick Crawley/SkyClan) and from what gullible clan members let slip (Edith / was it Ferncloud, or maybe Millie, who basically thanked him for saving an apprentice when it was not him and he just played along?). No one is really sure of his real name. He also tried to become part of the clan by lying and pretending.
Ethel is Stormfur. Feeling like they don't belong. Comes and go from place to place without ever being accepted (Downton, London, Isobel Crawley's house... / Riverclan, Thunderclan, Tribe...).
The Duke of Crowborough is Crowfeather. Basically the same name. Both-way love story ending up in heartbreak for both. Wants to erase that past to fit in his part of society while the other person (Thomas Barrow / Leafpool) would like them to at least acknowledge, not in public but in private, what happened between them.
There's also a bit of Tom Branson/Sybil in Graystripe/Silverstream, with the forbidden love story from both sides of a made up border, and said forbidden love story ending in death in childbirth of the mother and fight between both sides of the family to know who keeps the child/kits. The father decides to stay with the mother's family in the end. Long after, Tom/Graystripe finds love again and has another child/litter. Tom/Graystripe is also notably a very important friend in Matthew/Fireheart's life.
Alfred Nugent is Cloudtail. Came in mainly because of aunt/uncle's relations. Is seen as goofy and ineffective at first but wins most hearts. Has a physical particularity that is not weird but does make them stand out a bit (very tall / very white). Have a special relationship with food (becomes a chef / two-legs food).
William Mason is Swiftpaw. Wanted to proove himself, among other reasons to prove a girl he liked a lot (but not reciprocated with the same intensity: Daisy/Brightheart) that he was an adult and not just some kid. Was tentatively sheltered by Lady Violet/Bluestar even tho her intentions were misguided. Rebelled against that shelter. Went out to fight. Bit more than he could chew. Died protecting a close one (Matthew/Brightheart).
George Crawley is Lionblaze: grandson of clan leader, it's been a few arcs since his birth was expected, is at the heart of a text (entail and will / prophecy) and is supposed to solve everyone's problems. Distant mother. Never knew his biological father but was raised by an okay stepfather. Blond/golden hair.
I honestly could go on and on but the more I go on the more far-fetched it seems to me. But still. Yellowfang = Patmore, Bluestar = Lady Violet and a few others are really realistic to me.
Do not hesitate to complete with your own takes. Also full disclaimer: I'm perfectly aware ensemble-distribution shows with multiple series/arcs and dozens of characters are all bound to have multiple matching personnalities or characters arcs. I'm doing this for the fun of it.

Biweekly Media Roundup
- Interior Design Masters (TV) - Finished. While I liked the concept of this show, I felt the execution could really use some work. The challenges were just not as interesting as they could have been with a lot of just “redesign this bedroom or boutique” instead of pushing more out there themes, they kept forcing the designers to work in teams until the last 2 challenges which took away any of the fun of recognizing an individual style, and I barely ever agreed with the judges decisions and their complete disregard for the actual utility of the rooms. I guess this is probably more of a rich people thing since they’re the only ones who would bother hiring an interior designer and it’s not fair for me to judge it based on what I wanted it to be vs what it actually was, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t disappointed.
- School Of Chocolate (TV) - Oh hey crazy chocolate guy got a show. Not very far in yet but seems fun.
- Is It Cake? (TV) - A weird laid back food competition show to watch when I want to relax, the competitors have to make cake that looks like everyday objects. It’s fun to try to guess which object is the actual cake and as is common with these food shows the competitors seem like genuinely nice people.
- Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (TV) - Finished season 1, I thought this was pretty good, likable cast, some pretty interesting storylines and concepts, and visually pretty to look at. I wouldn’t say it’s my favorite Star Trek related media but it’s certainly worth the watch if you like the franchise. I think my main issue was that it was a bit too referential, a lot of the central characters are new interpretations of the original series cast, and while I liked their depictions just fine there was a lot of things they just expected you to already know and or/weight that was emphasized based on who the characters will become later, which to be fair is common in prequels but is not really what I want from a stand alone. Still I watched it with my life long Star Trek fan Father and he had a great time with it so I can’t be too upset, it’s fine to indulge the fans sometimes.
- Prehistoric Planet (TV) - Yup.
- Dark (TV) - I’ve come so far that I’m determined to finish it at this point but like man. Can I just get a single time travel story that doesn’t involve incest and/or apocalyptically bad things happening from tiny ass changes? Like just one? There’s more than one theme you can do with time travel guys.
- Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes (Video Games) - Yup.
- Ace Attorney Series (Video Game) - Finished the original trilogy series, and despite having some issues with some of the recurring characters and odd case logic I think overall it’s a solid, enjoyable experience. I especially enjoyed the flashback Mia appearances, Edgeworth’s character development, the Mask Demasque case, Franziska, and the Mia kidnapper case. Less enthused by the Circus case, Larry, and a lot of the Nick/Mia banter though. I’m still also watching a playthrough of my fave ace attorney games, The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles, and starting on the Apollo Justice series, so we’ll see how everything ranks by the end. Clearly I’m fully an ace attorney fan now.
- Shadows House (Anime) - Currently the only anime I’m keeping up with, I still stand by that Shadows House is majorly underrated. I like that we are getting back to the mystery/lore aspect as well. Also loving the Rosemary/Maryrose pair, very RGU, wlw vibes, I’m into it.
Listening to: ERROR cover by Will Stetson, Good Life by Shayfer James, That Man by Caro Emerald, Not Evil by Tiffany Haddish, That Don’t Impress Me Much by Shania Twain, Say Love by James TW, Breath of Life by Florence + The Machine, Cairo by San Fermin, Prelude 12/21 by AFI, Take Me Home Tonight by Eddie Money, Twilight Princess OST, IDGAF by Dua Lipa
