Day 3: Take Flight
Here’s to another @felinettenovember prompt that’s coming in late! There’s a few more queued up and hopefully I can finish about half of them, before I cross-post them over on AO3.
A little bit of class / Lila salt, a little bit of sweetness. About 550 words.
Felix approached the classroom, curious about the racket coming from inside so early in the day.
"You really need to stop bullying Lila just because of your jealousy! If Adrien likes Lila, bullying her isn't going to change that!"
Felix couldn't quite hear the reply but had to duck out of the way as Marinette burst from the room, dashing through the hallway towards an exit.
Inside he saw Alya placing a comforting hand on a distraught Lila's shoulder. He wasn't listening to the words as she consoled the girl and he wasn't willing to stick around for another excuse from Lila.
Instead he turned and took flight, hoping to catch up to the dark haired girl in spite of her head start. Out the front entrance of the school, he quickly looked around for her, then headed towards her home, hoping he'd guessed correctly. As her house came into view, he saw her turn from facing the bakery doors towards the nearby park and start speed walking. He picked up his pace again, worried that if he called out, she would run again.
With eyes locked on her, he was able to better plan an intercept course in the park. When she settled underneath a tree, well into the park, he had been fairly close.
She looked startled when he plopped down on the ground next to her. He put a hand on her arm before she could rise and gave her a small half smile. He hoped it would look sympathetic, when his entire goal in chasing her was to comfort. The way she seemed to falter, he wondered if he should’ve called someone else to come.
Suddenly her arms were around him as she cried against his chest, her hair tickling his neck and face. He readjusted, bending his knees and putting his feet together before pulling on her side so she was sitting in the cradle his legs made, rather than awkwardly leaning over and onto him.
She seemed to settle more into this position while crying and he softly ran his hand in circles on her upper back. He stayed silent, deciding he ran a bigger risk of making things worse if he spoke.
After a while, her cries turned to sniffles, then to long, shuddering breaths. She leaned back away from him and he placed his hands on the ground beside himself. She smiled sheepishly at him, a light flush to her face.
"Sorry."
"Do you want to tell me what Lila accused you of or do you want to forget about that entire situation?"
"Forget." Marinette’s eyes suddenly grew again, running down his shirt and back up to his face. "You shouldn't be sitting in the dirt in those pants! And look at your shirt!"
She sprung up, before continuing, "You need to come with me and get cleaned up!"
Felix rose stiffly as she continued to stress about his clothes. She took his arm to usher him towards her house, detailing her plan to take care of his outfit.
While she fussed over him, he tried to find the opportunity to tell her that some things are more important than dirty clothes. He concluded that it had been the perfect way to get her mind off what awaited at school.

Alternative Cuisine
Felinette November - Day 1: New Recipes
(Ao3 link)
Marinette likes experimenting with what's edible. Félix doesn't like being her main taster.
-------------------
The rhythmic cracking of ambers bundled Félix in a protective and warm bubble as he lazily flipped a page of the book propped up on his lap, back resting on soft pillows. The house was silent, for once, and the fireplace’s soft light was enough for him to have a peaceful read without hurting his eyes.
So of course it wouldn’t last long.
The lights switched on with a bang—that switch was still going to break one of these days—and pounding footsteps eagerly approached the low couch chairs by the heart. Félix could only sigh and put his book aside as a tray was smacked on the center table in front of him.
He lifted his eyes to a beaming Marinette with yellow, pink, and blue powder smeared on her face and clothes that he honestly didn’t want to know anything about. Which was a surprise for his curious nature, but Marinette, somehow, made even him wary of new discoveries.
“What is it now,” he asked cautiously, poking the blue cube and scrunching up his nose when it wiggled.
“Just jelly!” She took a seat across from him, putting an elbow on the table and placing her chin on a palm. “Come on–” She pushed the tray to him. “The taste is divine, you have to try it.”
He arched a brow at her. “Did you taste it first?”
She bit the inside of her cheeks.
Félix grabbed his book and stood up.
“Nooooooo! Félix, pleeeeaaaaaase!” She leaned over the table, pushing the tray aside as she grasped his wrist. “I need an impartial judge! I can’t criticize my own cooking properly.”
“Translating,” Félix said, groaning as he let her pull him back to his sitting position. “You need someone that still has a decent paladar.”
Marinette humphed and crossed her arms. “There’s nothing wrong with my paladar, thank you very much.”
“Love, you swear that crickets are just like crackers.”
“If they’re crispy enough, people can’t even tell the difference! And they have way more nutritional value.”
Félix took in a whimpering breath, eyeing the three blocks of “jelly” in front of him with a frown tugging at his mouth.
“If I take one bite and not like it, the kitchen is off-limits for you for a week.”
Marinette grinned. “Deal.”
Félix narrowed his eyes at her. “The grill and the basement too.” He paused with a thoughtful look. “And the fireplace.”
Her pupils dilated the slightest bit, but the smile remained in place as she nodded in agreement.
Contented, he took the spoon from the trail and, after a deep inhale, took a bite out of the pink cube.
Marinette watched with bated breath as he swallowed the contents, fists pressed on her lap, no doubt to keep them from fidgeting.
“So?” She asked, anticipation and nervousness lacing her voice when he didn’t say anything.
Félix closed his eyes and blew out a sigh. “Dammit.” He picked up the pink jelly’s plate and took another spoonful out of it.
“Yes!” Marinette jumped up, punching the air. “Hah! Take that! You’re not getting away from my amazing cooking that easily.”
“I swear you’re scheming to kill my tastebuds,” Félix muttered in-between bites, a smile playing at his lips.
“I mean–” Marinette came behind him and wrapped her arms around his neck, resting her chin on his shoulder. “–if it made you consider–”
“No. No way in hell I’m eating worms.”

Day Nineteen – Fallen Angel
Written for @felinettenovember.
Some would consider Marinette an angel. Felix could see how someone could come to that conclusion. She was kind, helpful, and looked for the best in everyone. However, it appeared by the time he had entered the class, she wasn’t the most well liked. To his not at all surprise, the shallow Gabriel model was the centre of the conflict and only Mme. Bustier’s class felt that way. Despite that, he and Marinette formed a symbiotic relationship. A tit-for-tat as it were. He’d help her, she’d help him. The class quickly turned on him, though it wasn’t all that shocking. Shallow girl had them wrapped in strings to keep their attention. The funniest thing in his opinion is when Agreste of all people had the gall to suggest he was corrupting Marinette.
“Everything was fine until you showed up,” Adrien hissed, “Marinette would’ve apologized by now if you hadn’t shown up and-and corrupted her!” “Marinette is her own her person Agreste,” he retorted, “she needs someone who actually cares for her mental health. You clearly don’t.” “That’s not true!” “Really? Because your allegiance says otherwise,” Felix turned on his heel, “have fun with Rossi and her pack of sheep. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have lunch plans.”
Unfortunately for him, while Adrien was busy mouthing useless platitudes, Rossi and her vultures had descended on Marinette. Emotions weren’t Felix’s forte, but even he could recognize the feeling of anger bubbling underneath his skin. How dare they. This class, they had abandoned Marinette over a walking lie machine. Without a word, he wrapped his hand around Marinette’s wrist and tugged her from the group. When one girl protested, the short one with pink hair, he sent them a glare that could send Gabriel Agreste running.
“-lix. Felix!” His footsteps slowed. His hand fell from her wrist. “You didn’t have to do that.” “But I did.” He turned to look at her. “I care for you Marinette. For your well-being. I don’t care if people see me as the bad guy. As a corrupting force. As someone who is causing the angel that is Marinette to fall. The class can go to the hell for all I care.” “Corrupting force?” “That’s what your focusing on?” He inquired drily. “I’m still registering the rest!” She replied defensively, “what’s going on with this whole corrupting force nonsense?” “Agreste believes I am turning you against the class. He’s so blinded he hasn’t even realized they turned against you long before I arrived.” Marinette sighed and slipped her hand into his. “Angels are overrated anyways.”

Day 10: School Dance
Happy @felinettenovember!
Aged down, with Felix and Marinette attending the same elementary school. From Sabine’s perspective primarily. Fluff all the way. About 750 words.
Marinette and Kim are besties, primarily because I love the idea that they’d be super chaotic and great together
Sabine rarely took Marinette to the elementary school's annual dance. She didn't have many friends in her class and the mother worried this would be a prime opportunity for bullying. Marinette had seemed mostly informative rather than enthusiastic when bringing home the flyer in previous years. Sabine didn't feel overly enthusiastic either, as many of the other parents did their best to ignore her at school functions.
Instead she and Kim's mother would try to work out a plan for the pair to hang out and sometimes have a sleepover with a few of the other kids that didn't plan to go. Last year resulted in the two women drinking tea and chatting while the children played in her living room for a few hours before the children watched an animated movie resulting in popcorn all over the floor.
This year though, Marinette had asked very eagerly and informed her that Kim was going. With her excitement, Sabine figured she could go and keep her eyes open for signs of bullying.
As the day approached, Marinette excitedly prepared the clothes she would wear and how her hair should be done. She begged her mother for her nails to be painted, despite Sabine trying to suggest it in the first place and being spoken over in the girl's eagerness.
When the day finally arrived, Marinette donned the pink ruffled skirt and the white flower patterned shirt. Her hair was put in two little buns with matching pink ribbons, and her nails were painted pink and white. She desperately wished she still fit into the white flats she had worn the last Christmas, however she had to settle for the newer pair of black ones instead. Sabine stuck to the comfortable pants and floral button down she gravitated towards.
When mother and daughter arrived for the dance, the school yard was already bustling and upbeat music welcomed everyone. Sabine helped Marinette look around for Kim, not seeing the energetic boy anywhere yet, and instead found a seat near a small table.
"Go on and dance. I'll be here if you decide to take a break." Marinette bounded off towards a busy area of the yard designated as the dance floor and Sabine settled in to watch them.
"Is it alright if I sit here?" A blond woman set a bag on one of the other chairs at the table Sabine had settled at just a few minutes after Marinette had run off.
"Of course!" Sabine turned partway and smiled at her. The woman had angular features and wore clothes that were slightly more formal than the Chinese woman would've leaned towards for an elementary school dance, however the woman appeared comfortable in them and that's all that truly mattered.
The woman settled in before making small talk, while watching a child off near the crowd absently.
When the music shifted from the upbeat dance music to a slow song, Sabine glanced around for Marinette. The crowd was quickly splitting up into pairs dancing and soon she noticed that the dark haired girl was moving towards her, shoulders slumped and disappointment evident in every line of her body.
Suddenly a blond boy wearing a dark gray button down shirt tapped on her shoulder, back straight as an arrow. When the girl turned around, he held his hand up to her, speaking a few words. She tentatively placed her hand in his and the two walked back towards the dancing couples, before coming together in a childish slow dance.
When Sabine caught a glimpse of her daughter's face, the girl was shyly looking at the boy, but her joy was tangible. The mother settled back into her chair.
"I'm so glad my Felix decided he would dance instead of trying to hide behind the crowd with a book. He really needs to get out of his shell more often." The blond woman was leaning forward in her seat, smiling brightly as she spoke to the other mother.
"Which one is yours?" Sabine finally felt relaxed enough to relax fully, rather than keeping at least one eye out on the children.
"He's the little blond one wearing the gray button down. He's dancing with that cute little girl in the pink skirt!"
“That’s my daughter!”
The pair turned to look at each other, then began to laugh. They decided to exchange phone numbers, just in case their children wanted to spend more time together as they grew older. This proved to be necessary, after Marinette begged to have Felix over for a sleepover after the dance. The mothers bargained with the thought of a play date and ice cream on a later date.
