I think it's time for Leon and Chris to retire and make way for Joe exploding heads with his fists Baker. The End of Zoe DLC for RE Biohazard was great...but this glorious bastard needs his own game stat.

Chris and Leon have been fighting zombies and various biological horrors armored and armed to teeth with special equipment and weapons for over two decades now. Joe. Joe shows up with his fists. His fists and a stack of magical dolls that make him punch even harder. Sure, he takes a bit more hits due to taking the battle right up to these monster's faces. But that's fine. Joe just grabs a grub from a nearby tree, slurps that shit down and gets back to punching. (Really interesting experience in VR) Herbs? Fuck you hippy, that's rabbit medicine.

Joe doesn't waste time running around looking for lion plaques or key cards. He punches doors open. Once Joe did run into a door he could not punch. Did he spend all his time fucking around looking for a door code? No. He found the one weapon that allowed him to punch through doors of steel. Mind you, Joe had waltzed right past a whole slew of dead blue Umbrella soldiers with all their fancy guns, grandes and armor. He could have picked up a gun or anything at any point. Nope, not Joe Baker. The only weapon for Joe is more fist.

       “Dahlia,” she repeats again, more insistent now. The subtle sternness of the word, of the name folded against her tongue, shows in the flexing of her lips, the way she forms the sound against the harder wavebreakers of her teeth. Up this close, it’s harder to miss these details. There is no way the eye can’t see the shine on each and every one of those perfect ivory implements, their serrated edges speaking of what they could so easily do to anything caught within those rending jaws. Her gums, lining those fangs, are a soft grey-purple, strange to see as it fades into the pale yellow of her skin and then the pink flush of her lips and scales. The same color is inherited by her forked tongue, which moves with liquid grace as she breathes Dahlia’s name, cupping both of its tips around the syllables that form there.

        Behind that, Dahlia can see the golden chain of one of Miranda’s accessories, a scarf that cups her lower jaw as if tied there, ends weighted down with jewels that gleam in tandem with its gilded edges. The gemstones sway in the air as Miranda speaks, more to catch the light, and more to draw her eyes back in to Miranda’s face, to the fine curves of muscle and bone that make up her every expression. It is not too hard to remember that she is an apex predator here, though surely she steals breath for more than just one reason alone.

      Up this close, she smells like the sea, like great open beaches and the ebb and flow of the waves and the seafoam tossed high into the air as if in celebration and the white gulls that weave around it like lasting comments. There is an equal breath of strawberry, of scented soaps and perfumes and lotions, things that come with wealth and with care and with great baths to soak it into her scales so that she might cover up that eternal smell of the ocean itself. If Dahlia were to lean in, she might smell more, might catch the sharp scent of something almost metallic, but Miranda does not get that close. She doesn’t have to, when Dahlia can see her pulse, right below the soft underside of Miranda’s jaw, thrumming and alive and primal. It feels almost too intimate to watch, twitching against one of the few places where Miranda’s scales thin.

        “I am going to have to... leave out, for a while. I do not know-... I am not quite sure-... No, just- It is Merkingdom business. I will be back at the Royal Palace. Please do not panic, if you cannot get in touch with me.”

<- cried for an hour after watching "Excellent Era's Boss" episode of s2 of TKA

#d0 stuff #this episode is always the gut punch #'you think you can win back the old glory days?' and 'I'm trying to'... hhhhhhh #*inhuman wails* #babbling in tags but #The way Ye Xiu loves EE so much he'd let them do him dirty like that #he lives with full knowledge that they got rid of him just like an obstacle a pebble #and he's still like #civil. understanding. rooting for them (this is so sad because... that's still *his* team to some degree) #He's pained by their poor performances and grieves their descent into nothing... #and despite already planning to be back he's always ready to offer them a lesson (unironic) despite them treating him as shit... #he's just #*shakes fists at the sky* #he's willing to take so many losses for EE... to the point it's like... he loves EE to a fault #he'll let them step over him and endure and endure and try again but they still couldn't see what they had and kicked him out and forced to #retire... I can't #*screams more* #and he's so lonely in his desire to just win too #I'm like... he's a menace to the entirety of Glory society and he will be a snarky internet cafe manager... but when it comes to EE... #a man really too kind for his own good #<- person who kinda does the same thing irl so this is doubly annoying #there's sth to say narratively #how Happy coming to be just a few steps next to EE's building is a punch in EE's face #but I also sometimes think that... the reason Happy was born there was because Ye Xiu really couldn't stay away from EE that far #it's so maddening because on one hand he has to look at the damn building and be reminded of where he used to belong #but on the other he's also... free ticket to angsting over their losses and how the fans demand him to return while... it's been EE who #kicked him #like. this is a small scale tragedy (maybe not so small) #add to this how despite all that he's still focused on leveling Lord Grim and sticking a team together... and just the smq thing and #the Glory he never got to see... being some part of why he's so focused on success...
