Arty-Fact: “I shot Beyoncé for the first time in 2000 for Vibe magazine, when she was part of Destiny’s Child. I knew she was a superstar right away. She walked in and I said to her mother, Tina, who was styling the shoot: 'This one in the middle here, she’s going to be a huge star.' Tina looked at me like: 'Yeah, we know.' Markus is an award-winning international fashion/celebrity photographer and director who has worked with many of today's most iconic film, music, and fashion stars.

"When photographing an artist, I always desire to create a work that truly defines them and can serve as a milestone in pop culture history. Those are ambitious and lofty goals, but it is what I am thinking about when I pick up my camera.

Series: Addicted
Arty-Fact: Jamie presents a collection of images displaying the glamorisation of excess consumption and the subsequent cultural addictions. This collection of images was taken over the last decade during her editorial assignments with international Vogues.
Work hard play harder. Dopamine addiction is more prevalent than ever, and moreover is pushed by big pharma and big alcohol with a blatant disregard for the consumer.
What happens when our bodies max out and the substances lose staying power? Even the glamorous models will eventually deteriorate from cheating the system with "Mommy’s Little Helper”.
Jamie suggests that our current dopamine addicted culture may have finally hit a wall in which living a balanced life without stimulants is no longer recommended.
Although Jamie has focused on a glamorous approach of addiction in this series, she foresees working on a future series depicting the ugly aftermath of the inevitable societal dopamine burnout.

To sit for hours on end, cutting small pieces of card from bigger pieces of card, it’s not a standard method of art, but a more precise and exact craft. The way we try to balance this, is by painting very quickly, and very rough and ready. Every canvas we paint is painted the same way it would be done on the street, drips, smudges, mess and mistakes are all a part of it. The tightness of the stencil is only a balance to the freedom of the painting.” ~ SNIK
