I can’t believe the collective, analysing minds of got/asoiaf fans came up with and believed …. boat baby. Not only is it an absolute crack plot, it actively goes against the themes and foreshadowing of the show and the book. Also, what made them think that jon snow of all people will like to have a bastard baby?

I decided to redraw a drawing I did about a year ago! I probably should’ve done the blood a little lighter, but oh well.

The Two of Us
Now that we’ve had a few days to process episode 8x01 we can start to delve into the details of each of the scenes. Now, it’s not a secret I didn’t think this was a great episode, nonetheless, I do believe that we were given clues as to the resolution of the season and the series.
Several of those clues can be found in the scene where Davos is talking to Tyrion and Varys. In the scene Davos suggest proposing marriage between Jon and Dany. He states that their marriage can be something different for Westeros, that they could co-rule, each having attributes that compliments the other.
Two things, Davos doesn’t know about Jon’s real parentage so why is he proposing Jon to be king when Jon already bent the knee. This is totally a clue. The other thing is that we won’t have some huge fight between Jon and Dany about who the rightful heir is (we’ve always known this), their claims to the throne will be solidified through marriage and their rule will be shared between the two (for however long that last).
There is another interesting thing that happens in this scene and it’s how Hon and Dany are frame once the camera pans to them. You see the two of them all alone yet the are surrounded by people.
The framing of the scene above is reminiscent of how Jon and Dany were framed in the Dragonpit in season 7. While they are still people all around them they still have a very intimate scene.
I think the framing of these shots is intentional. The showrunners are establishing that Jon and Dany can create this sort of intimate cocoon for each other when they are together, even when they are surrounded by people.
What are the implications of this? Who knows. However, I do suspect that the antagonism each is facing and will probably continue to fave in the next episode will push them towards one another and while they’ll be surrounded by people they really just have one another.
