Warnings: bondage, breeding kink, oral dem receiving, mirror sex.
Pairing: Husband!Dom!Aemond x Wife!Sub!reader. (Fem)
Summary: "watch me as i worship your body with every inch of mine." Aemond decided to show you just how much he appreciates you.
Word count: 101
The people crowded to see the newly weds at the ball. Aemond by your side, you ascend down the stairs with a worried expression. Your fingers grasped the fabric of his clothes in need of some relief from this newfound anxiety.
"Do you truly think i will let harm come your way?" Aemond's voice calms you slowly, his tone is authoritative yet gentle while his facial expressions are relaxed and fond.
"I do not...everyone is just...never mind." Your words struggle against your quivering lips.
Aemond comes to a halt, turning to stand before you with a gentle hand on your left arm. His other hand grasp your chin, lifting your gaze to his eye. The moment is brief before you notice that everyone is awaiting your arrival from the halls. You clear your throat, pushing past your newly made husband. Your hands grasp at your dress, lifting it to allow access for your legs to move more freely. Although you wish for them to take you elsewhere, you manage to make your way down the staircase by yourself.
The celebration ceremony proceeds, everyone coming to personally congratulate you. You begin to feel more self conscious, seeing these lovely young women with thin hourglass bodies. Yes, Aemond stressed to you that your body is the perfect make for him. However, your mind tells a very different tale.
"My love." His voice pulls you from your sickening thoughts, your hand on your stomach as you look up into his eye.
"Yes?" You ask innocently as if you weren't just thinking of ways to get rid of the weight.
"I can see your thoughts taking over you." Aemond pauses, taking a moment to move forward and grasp your face. "Need i give you a physical example of how much i worship your body?" Aemond rhetorically asks.
You swallow thickly. "No...Aemond leave me be." You dismiss his intentions, brushing past him.
A frown forms on his pale face, his eyebrows furrowing and eyes squinting as he watches you walk toward the washroom. Aemond takes note and waits for you outside, leaning up against the door with his hands crossed over his chest. His hair falling perfectly over his shoulders, tied back into his signature half up half down hairstyle. You walk out of the washroom, your face reddened from the tears. You bump into your husband, his frame blocking you from moving as his hands take you waist firmly.
"Aemond..." you mumble and his head tilts.
Aemond guides you to your now shared chambers. His hands grasping your back as he gently pushes you within the walls of the room. You're taken aback by his forceful actions. His head gestures toward the bed, you follow.
If you had learnt anything from your husband, disobedience is not accepted. You sit on the edge of the bed, hands places on your lap as you wait for the next command.
Aemond trails behind you, kneeling, his hands possess something of a leather consistency. You daren't question his actions, feeling the cool leather trickle down your bare arms. He unclips your gown, watching as it deliciously reveals your figure. Aemond stands and removes a cloth, revealing a mirror in front of you both therefore forcing you to look at your self bare.
"Aemond please, i can't stand to look at myself...please." Although you meant to sound stern your words came to be mere whimpers, ashamed of your body.
The leather whip trails down your front as Aemond kneels back behind you. The action elicits a moan from you, your eyes fluttering to a close as he grazes the material over your nipples. Aemond smirks, moving to your front as he kneels before you. His face is level with your entrance, the feeling of his breath against you makes your squirm.
"Behave." Aemond demands, lifting your legs over his shoulders.
His lips graze your clit, your hands flying to his hair for more control. Aemond's tongue presses against your hole, you force your hips forward.
"So eager, perhaps if you want to act like a whore you should join a pleasure house." He smirks.
The obscurity of his words makes something stir in you. Aemond works magic on you, making your head fall back in ecstasy. Slurs and moans fall from your lips like sweet nectar to Aemond's ears. His tongue laps up all you have to offer. As you are about to reach your release he withdraws his head, kissing you with hunger that overpowers his senses.
His body over powers yours, pressing you against the mattress. Your back arches as Aemond presses his erect member against your folds. You give him a look of permission before he plunges in and your eyes screw shut.
"Aemond...I.." you moan and scratch your nails down his bare back.
His thrusts are slow yet hard, knocking you further up the mattress with every thrust. His hair dangles in front of his face and you lean up to kiss his lips, the feeling of warmth fills you as he continues to snap his hips into yours.
"Ao feel raqagon nykeā million qēlossās issa jorrāelagon." Aemond slurs and you whine, feeling your climax reaching.
He continues his forceful thrusts, kissing your collarbone to add to your pleasure. You kiss his chin, beads of sweat forming on you as your breathing quickens.
"Aemond!" Your legs shake violently as his thrusts grow sloppier.
The coil snaps and you milk his cock, panting and whining as he continues to abuse your entrance for his own pleasure. Your head falls back to the pillows as you feel him release within you, pumping you with his cum. Aemond comes to a halt, making sure ever last drop is bestowed in you.
"You will look so beautiful, round with our child." He purrs.

Performance Poetry 101: Tips for Reading Your Poems Aloud by Herve Comeau Syracuse
Performance poetry, a dynamic form of expression, thrives not just on the written word but on the electrifying delivery that brings verses to life. Whether you're an aspiring spoken word artist or a seasoned poet looking to enhance your public readings, mastering the art of performance poetry is a valuable skill. In this guide, Herve Comeau Syracuse delves into essential tips and techniques that will elevate your spoken word performances, creating an immersive experience for both you and your audience. From honing your delivery style to understanding the rhythm and cadence of your words, these insights will empower you to captivate listeners and convey the full emotional resonance of your poetry.
Embrace Vocal Dynamics: Infusing Life into Your Words
The first step in mastering performance poetry lies in embracing vocal dynamics to convey the emotional nuances of your written work. Experiment with variations in pitch, tone, and volume to create a dynamic and engaging delivery. Utilize pauses strategically to emphasize key moments, allowing your audience to absorb the impact of your words.
Transition smoothly between soft and powerful moments, adjusting your vocal dynamics to match the mood and intensity of your poem. This intentional modulation not only adds depth to your performance but also ensures that your audience remains captivated throughout. Whether conveying passion, vulnerability, or intensity, let your voice be a versatile instrument that mirrors the emotional landscape of your poetry.
Connect with Your Audience: Establishing Poetic Rapport
Connecting with your audience is paramount in the realm of performance poetry. Establishing eye contact, acknowledging your listeners, and gauging their reactions contribute to a powerful poetic rapport. Be present in the moment, allowing your emotions to resonate authentically with your words. Engage with your audience through gestures, facial expressions, and body language, creating a shared experience that transcends the written page.
Encourage audience participation when appropriate, fostering a sense of community and shared expression. Herve Comeau Syracuse asserts that the ability to connect with your listeners on a personal level enhances the impact of your performance, transforming your poetry from a solitary endeavor into a collective and resonant experience. A genuine connection with your audience elevates your performance poetry from a recitation to a shared journey of emotion and reflection.
Master Rhythmic Delivery: Riding the Wave of Sound
Rhythm is the heartbeat of performance poetry, and mastering rhythmic delivery is key to a compelling performance. Pay attention to the natural cadence of your poem, identifying moments that lend themselves to rhythmic emphasis. Experiment with pacing, utilizing variations in speed to match the ebb and flow of your verses.
Employ repetition strategically to create a hypnotic effect, allowing certain phrases or words to reverberate in the minds of your audience. Practice your poem with a focus on maintaining a consistent rhythm, ensuring that your words become a rhythmic tapestry that carries your audience along with each spoken beat. Herve Comeau Syracuse emphasizes that a well-mastered rhythmic delivery not only enhances the auditory experience but also adds a layer of musicality to your performance.
Body Language and Gestures: Amplifying Expression
Your body is a canvas for expression in performance poetry. Utilize purposeful body language and gestures to amplify the emotional impact of your words. Allow your movements to complement the rhythm and mood of your poem, creating a visual element that enhances the overall experience.
Gesture with intention, using your hands and body to emphasize key phrases or evoke specific emotions. Be mindful of your posture and physical presence, ensuring that your body language aligns with the tone of your poetry. A dynamic interplay of words and gestures adds a visual dimension to your performance, captivating your audience on multiple sensory levels.
Use Intonation to Convey Meaning: Painting with Vocal Colors
Herve Comeau Syracuse points out that intonation, the rise and fall of pitch in your voice, adds layers of meaning to your performance poetry. Experiment with different intonations to convey a range of emotions, from the melancholic lows to the exuberant highs. Match your intonation to the nuances of your poem, allowing your voice to become a palette of colors that paints a vivid emotional landscape.
Emphasize key words and phrases through strategic changes in intonation, guiding your audience to the heart of your poetic narrative. A well-crafted interplay of pitch variations adds a melodic quality to your performance, enhancing the overall auditory experience. Just as a musician uses pitch to evoke emotions, a performance poet can utilize intonation to create a symphony of meaning.
Pace Yourself for Impact: Controlling the Poetic Tempo
Pacing is a crucial aspect of performance poetry, influencing the cadence and tempo of your delivery. Understand the rhythm inherent in your poem and adjust your pacing accordingly. Some moments may call for a slow and deliberate pace, allowing the weight of your words to linger, while others may benefit from a quicker tempo to build excitement or tension.
Experiment with pauses and silences to punctuate significant moments, giving your audience the space to absorb the impact of your verses. Herve Comeau Syracuse highlights that effective pacing creates a dynamic flow that keeps your listeners engaged and invested in the unfolding narrative. Like a skilled storyteller, masterful pacing allows you to guide your audience through the peaks and valleys of your poetic journey.
In the realm of performance poetry, the journey from the poet's heart to the audience's ears is an artful dance of vocal dynamics, audience connection, rhythmic delivery, body language, intonation, and pacing. As you embark on your exploration of this captivating form of expression, remember that each element contributes to the symphony of your performance. The true magic of performance poetry lies in the synthesis of these components, creating an immersive experience that transcends the written word. By continuously refining your skills and infusing your performances with authenticity, you not only elevate your own craft but also contribute to the vibrant tapestry of spoken art, forging connections and leaving a lasting impression on those who lend their ears to the spoken word.

Mind Reading 101: Understanding the Basics
Tumblr media
The art of mind reading, often associated with the mystique of mentalism, has captivated human imagination for centuries. While it may seem like a supernatural ability, mind reading is grounded in a keen understanding of human psychology and behavior. In this beginner's guide, we'll demystify the basics of mind reading, offering insights into how mentalists create the illusion of reading minds.
What is Mind Reading?
Mind reading, in the context of mentalism, is the art of creating the illusion that you can read someone's thoughts or intentions. It's not about actual psychic ability; instead, it's about using observation, psychological principles, and artful deception to make accurate guesses about what someone is thinking.
Core Techniques of Mind Reading
Cold Reading: This involves making general statements that could apply to many people, then refining your statements based on the person's reactions. Cold reading relies on probability, observation, and the Forer effect (the tendency for people to find vague, general statements highly accurate for them personally).
Hot Reading: Unlike cold reading, hot reading involves gathering information about a person beforehand. This can be done through research or by obtaining information from the person without their knowledge.
Body Language Reading: A key aspect of mind reading is interpreting non-verbal cues. By paying attention to someone's posture, facial expressions, and gestures, a mentalist can make educated guesses about their thoughts or feelings.
Muscle Reading: Also known as contact mind reading, this technique involves feeling the subtle, involuntary muscle movements in a volunteer's hand or arm to guide the mentalist to a hidden object or location.
Developing Mind Reading Skills
Practice Observation: Start by becoming more observant of the people around you. Notice their body language, tone of voice, and choice of words.
Study Psychology: Understanding basic psychological principles can be incredibly useful. This includes learning about human behavior, perception, and memory.
Refine Your Communication Skills: Effective mind reading requires excellent communication skills. This includes active listening, clear speaking, and being able to lead and control conversations subtly.
Learn to Misdirect: Misdirection is a crucial skill. It's about directing your audience's attention away from your method and toward the effect or outcome.
Ethical Considerations
While mind reading can be a powerful tool in entertainment, it's important to approach it ethically. Always remember that you're performing to entertain, not to deceive in a harmful way. Respect your audience's privacy and be cautious not to misuse personal information.
Conclusion
Mind reading is a fascinating blend of psychology, performance, and artful deception. While it doesn't provide genuine psychic insights, it offers a window into the power of observation and the art of influence. As you embark on your journey to learn mind reading, remember that like any skill, it requires patience, practice, and a dedication to the ethical principles of performance. Enjoy the journey into this intriguing aspect of mentalism, and let the exploration of the human mind begin!

The Unofficial Parents of the Happy Hungry Bunch (Zeno x Immortal!Reader)
Tumblr media
[Spoilers for the manga, chp 100 and 101]
Words: 2.6k
"Miss! Get back!!" Zeno shouted at Yona, running to her side desperately.
Golden hair darted into your vision as you yanked your knife out of the body at your feet. Your eyes shot open as blood spurted onto your face.
"Zeno!!" You cried, reaching out for him. He made it in front of her in time, but the strike aimed for the princess pierced him instead. They were relentless, numbers pouring over the Ouryuu. Your hands covered your face in horror as the bandits continued to slaughter him, chopping off his arms.
Then, one of them sliced off his head.
"NO!!!" You screamed.
Yona was still beside you, her face as white as a sheet and Yoon was beyond horrified. The rest of the dragons had a mix of shock and anger on their faces from where they were scattered around on the ground and Hak could barely move, only his eyes betraying his fury.
You fought your way beside Zeno, lips curling back in a ferocious snarl to ward off the soldiers who had finished hacking the precious Ouryuu to pieces.
"You'll pay for that." Your eyes glowed red, you couldn't even hear Yona scream your name as you cut them down, one by one.
They were too many and their numbers overwhelmed you quickly. You spat out blood, as a sword was suddenly pushed through your chest.
You faintly heard the anguished cries coming from your comrades.
Your deranged grin made Zeno halt as his body slowly regenerated.
You... were like him?!
Your wounds closed, magically repairing itself.
"I will protect them all. What, are you scared?" You challenged them as they backed away, drawing your blades once more. "You haven't seen anything yet."
For the first time in a thousand years, Zeno was positively speechless.
You were just like him.
He leaped up with a battle cry, fighting with a fervor you've never seen before as you dashed back into battle. The two of you fought side by side until the rest of them fled, thoroughly shaken by what they've just seen. They killed you two over and over again, and yet, you both had lived.
You grinned at Zeno in victory, and then the two of you were surrounded by your group, sending you tumbling to the ground with an 'oof'.
Yoon was weeping, and Shin-ah wasn't faring much better. His mask had gotten lost in the skirmish and his beautiful golden eyes were filled with terror. Kija had thrown himself between you and Zeno, eyes puffy from unshed tears and he finally bawled, burying his head into the ground. Yona was clinging to Zeno tightly, sobbing into his ripped and bloodied clothes.
Your gaze was gentle as you shushed the boy and the blue dragon's cries, pecking Yoon's head and tenderly rubbing your hand over Shin-ah's bloodied knuckles.
"You're all adorable." Zeno smiled brightly, patting Yona's head comfortingly.
"It's okay." You reassured Yoon softly. "We're alive. We're okay."
Hak and Jae-ha were behind you, and as you twisted to look behind you, you caught sight of their relieved but battered expressions.
You and Zeno shared a look as you embraced your friends tightly. Your conversation would have to wait, the children came first.
You stood up, ushering the dragons one by one in front of you, insisting that their wounds all needed to be treated even though yours hadn't stopped bleeding. Yoon was tearfully scolding you, but it didn't have the same harsh edge to it that you've become accustomed to as his voice broke.
After you had made camp and the pretty boy was finished patching everyone up, things had calmed down a bit. You were spread out lazily next to Zeno, face staring up at the setting sun with your arms resting behind your head. His injuries had healed completely, as had yours and you were itching to talk to him.
"You guys are really lively!" Zeno beamed. The dragons, Hak, Yoon and Yona then shifted their attention on you. You nearly collapsed under the weight of their stare.
You smiled sheepishly as Hak narrowed his eyes at you. You scurried behind Zeno, as if the Ouryuu could protect you from being crushed under the Thunder Beast's glare.
Yoon walked over, inspecting Zeno carefully before moving onto you. The two of you have no trace of the battle scars that should have been left behind.
"There are no wounds or scales..." Yoon murmured.
"After some time passes, it turns back to normal skin." Zeno explained with a cheery smile.
"You two, you really won't die?" He asked quietly, almost fearfully.
"I won't die." Zeno automatically responded and you nodded in agreement.
The boy promptly faced you, and bonked you on the head. You cried out, clutching your head in pain. "Yoon~" You pouted.
"You should have said something!!" He shouted, gesturing his hands wildly. "Do you have any idea how troublesome it is?!"
"Why did you stay quiet until now?" Hak asked quietly, head still spinning a little at the revelation. You glanced down.
"Because nothing changes whether you know or not." Zeno stood up, stretching his arms up over his head. "Zeno's powers don't activate unless there's a large injury anyway."
You shrugged as Jae-ha shifted his attention to you questioningly. "I'm just immortal. It doesn't matter to me whether you know or not. I'll always be there to protect you."
You looked at every single one of them. "All of you."
"Hey," Zeno whined. "That's my line."
He looked so adorable, you could help it. You pinched his cheeks, tugging at them. "Awwww Zeno, you're so cute!!"
Your friends watched you, dumbfounded, as the fearless warriors was reduced to a pile of mush in a matter of milliseconds.
Both of them.
Zeno tickled you in revenge and you squealed, running away from him.
"So..." Yoon's eyes followed you as you sprinted around the campsite, turning to Shin-ah. "These two, huh?
He nodded silently. Hak rolled his eyes humorously. "Guess they really are the adults here."
You tripped over a tree root, and Zeno lost his footing behind you, sending the both of you crashing to the ground at the same time.
"Although, they really don't act like it." Jae-ha mused.
Kija's eyes were still sparkling with relief at the fact that neither one of you were dead. "I think it's great! Y/N and Zeno make great parents!"
The light in his eyes didn't dim as everyone turned to look at him weirdly. His face flushed bright red as realization dawned on him.
"W-Wait! I didn't mean it like that!"
It was too late though, as the poor Hakuryuu was made a target for Hak and Jae-ha's relentless teasing. Shin-ah's head was tilted to the side in confusion as he watched his brothers squabble playfully, not quite sure how to join in.
Yona giggled as she watched their antics and Zeno didn't miss the way your eyes softened as they landed on the safe and sound bunch.
"You really love them, don't you?"
The corner of your mouth quirked up in a smile. "Yes."
And the two of you sat in silence, watching over your friends fondly. Eventually, Jae-ha eased up on the innocent Kija, approaching you carefully.
"What's the real reason, Y/N?" Jae-ha spoke up softly. He knew there was more than what you told them earlier. Zeno's gaze snapped to yours, unsure of what you would say to that.
It appears that he wasn't the only one curious. Hak made his way over to the forming circle and Yona followed him. Shin-ah plopped down on the ground in front of you, still albeit confused, but wanting to participate in whatever was happening and Kija settled next to him. Yoon came over as soon as he put dinner over the fire, eyeing you questioningly.
They were all in front of you, forming a semi-circle in a matter of seconds and you were at a loss for words. Zeno was beside you, and he leaned over, placing his hand over yours on the ground.
"If you don't want to tell them or me, right now," He whispered in your ear quietly, "Then, you don't have to."
You shot him a reassuring smile, flipping your palm to catch his hand before he could pull away, squeezing it in thanks.
You took a deep breath, before turning to the anxiously awaiting children in front of you.
"The more people that know, the worse it is for me." You chose your words cautiously. You didn't want to give them the wrong impression if you didn't explain it accurately. "Zeno was able to blend in and get away with it because he was a dragon that served a king before he left. For me, on the other hand, I've been hunted my entire life because of this power."
You shifted uncomfortably, not really wanting to tell them about what happened after, but Zeno wrapped an arm around your shoulder, drawing you close to him. You closed your eyes as you basked in the warmth radiating from him.
"There are a lot of people out there, who want what I have. To save themselves, to save loved ones, to save innocent ones, no matter who they are they always want it once they know about it. Generals, kings, ordinary citizens, everyone. For a time, I was kept in the dark for several years as people tried to figure out how to obtain my immortality." You continued, fingers toying with the hem of your shirt.
You left out the part that was gruesome, they didn't need to hear about the torture that you had gone through over time.
"So, I started keeping it a secret. If it was ever out in the open, the people alive to see it would need to be terminated so that knowledge of my ability didn't spread. It was the only way to keep myself and others safe. I understand you all must be upset," You winced as you were met with varying reactions. "But please try to respect why I chose to do what I did. I did not intend to hurt you by keeping this from you."
Shin-ah's head was bowed, and you couldn't see his facial expression, but his hands were clenched tightly in his lap. Jae-ha was shaking with what you assumed was anger, and Yoon was outright crying. Hak wasn't mocking the boy like he normally did, instead he was staring right at you, a turmoil of emotions swirling in his cobalt eyes. Yona's pleasant features were murderous and you were almost taken aback at the depth of rage manifesting there. Kija's mouth was pressed in a hard line, his dragon claw tearing his clothes at the force he was gripping them with.
You looked away guiltily, unable to keep eye contact with them knowing that they were upset with you. Needless to say, you were shocked when they all jumped on you.
"Y-You idiot!" Yoon reprimanded, throwing himself down in your lap so you couldn't see the tears gathering in his eyes.
"You endured so much pain!" Kija wailed, face filled with torment. "I am so sorry, Y/N!!"
"Did you think we would expose you?" Jae-ha asked, seemingly calm, but you recognized the insecurity in his eyes. You shook your head, smiling at him reassuringly. He didn't feel any better.
Shin-ah dropped to your side, face buried into your shoulder.
"Shin-ah?" You called softly, hoping to jolt him out of whatever trance he was in.
"You..." You strained to hear him. "You didn't deserve that." Shin-ah finished quietly, but firmly.
"He's right." Hak rested his chin on your head, making you sputter indignantly. "You didn't deserve what happened to you. We understand why you chose to keep it from us." His voice was uncharacteristically soft and your shoulders dropped as the tension eased from it.
"Yona?" You piped up timidly, realizing that she had yet to say anything.
Her shattering sobs was all the answer you got, and you wrapped an arm around her, rocking her gently. That sent the rest of them spiraling down, unable to take it anymore.
Shin-ah and Kija broke down, with Yoon furiously trying to wipe away the tears still streaming down his face. Jae-ha was desperately attempting to retain a semblance of control, but failed miserably. Your hair grew damp and you realized it was coming from the ex-general above you.
You tucked your face into the crook of Zeno's neck, and he rested next to yours, unshaken by Hak who continued to remain perched on top of you. Your breath was even against his skin, and Zeno resisted the urge to shudder. He was so angry when he heard what you had been through, but your comfort was more important than his feelings at the moment. He knew you didn't need to know his vengeful streak just yet, but he was for sure going to gather the rest of the dragons and Hak to avenge what had been done to you.
Zeno had no doubt they'd all agree.
You were too precious to all of them.
He knew you had promised to protect all of them, even him, but not if he got to it first.
It was true though, you had all eternity to duke it out with him. But somehow, his fate now seemed a lot less lonely when he pictured you in it.
Zeno smiled softly, looking down at where you were resting, fondly.
I'll keep you safe, Y/N. No one will ever hurt you again.
Bonus:
"Come at me." Zeno's blue eyes flashed. "I have all the time in the world."
"Me too." You said seriously.
"Y/N, you have to say something else." Zeno instructed, squatting down beside you, losing all the fire he had a second ago. "That's not very threatening."
"Stop patronizing me!" You whined childishly.
"YAH!!" Yoon whacked you both over the head with a wooden spoon. "STOP SCARING TONIGHT'S DINNER!!"
You were apparently terrorizing the nearby forest animals, practicing your slogans so that in a battle, you had a handful to pick from. Yoon was not impressed with your idea.
You shot him an innocent look and Zeno copied you. He glowered, and you shrunk back from his angry gaze, hiding behind the Ouryuu. Zeno chuckled, casting a look over his shoulder to see you staring back at him wide-eyed.
The array of animals before you had absolutely no idea what was going on and you were not going to try to explain it, lest you would get scolded at by mother again.
You grinned mischievously at Zeno as Yoon turned away and the animals all scattered, using the distraction as a diversion to escape.
"What say we practice on a bit more of a likely audience?"
Zeno laughed after as you bounded off into the night, doubling over at his stomach as he distinctly heard Jae-ha cry out and the scuffling that followed. It would appear that you had made contact with your target.
He couldn't keep the smile from stretching across his face as he heard his earlier words being repeated by you, only to have the Ryokuryuu reply, "Isn't that Zeno's line?"
If the thump that shattered the silence was anything to go by, Zeno was guessing that you were less than pleased with his answer. He traveled towards the sound, and found you hunched over a now distraught Jae-ha.
He really wouldn't mind eternity if it was with you.
Thank you... Zeno thought silently, sending a prayer up to the heavens. Thank you for Y/N, I'll treasure her forever.

She looks at him. Suspicion clouding her eyes. “You’re going to make me go back, aren’t you?”
Clint wants to laugh. Knows it’s not the time.
“Go where? Go back where Nat?”
She looks around. Takes everything in.
“Back to Russia. Back to them,” she spits.
“I’m not going to send you back to Russia, Nat.” He says, resolutely; gently.
——-
“Did you bring anything with you?”
“No,” Natasha shakes her head. “Oh wait.. I had a bag?” Clint goes to where she’s pointing, finds a bag of unworn clothes. Pain medication not taken.
Checks with her first before moving, “you in any pain?”
“No.” She deadpans.
He doesn’t believe her.
“You tired?”
She’s looks lost. Nods, rubs her hand over her face.
“Ok. You ready to go?”
She shakes her head.
“No.” looks at him with focus. “I think we should stay here.” She says seriously. “It’s not safe there.”
He sighs. Wonders what’s happened in her head that’s making her so worried, so paranoid about the tower. He’ll play.
“Why, Nat? Why is it not safe?”
She looks down at her hands, rubbing one along the bandage.
“Youdontknowwhatiknow.” She mumbles.
Clint puts his bag down, feeing they're not going anywhere for a bit. Sends a message to the car service to park and wait. Sits across from her.
“What don’t I know?” He says carefully.
Shit.
She looks at the ceiling, stops tears falling. “You said you would. You said I need to be punished. What would be a better punishment?”
He knows she doesn’t believe it. Knows because if she did she’d be running, she’d be so far gone he wouldn’t be able to find her.
“Natasha..” she’s not done.
“Just like Tony, he said I failed. I’m bad. And Pepper, and Steve. I should be punished for my mistakes. It’s not safe to go back there, Clint. What if they hurt you? I couldn’t keep you safe. I couldn’t keep myself safe. What if..”
Clint takes her hands, holds them tight.
“Nat, where are you right now?” See this for what it is.
Anxiety.
Fear.
Fatigue.
Pain.
“What?” She says, delaying answering.
“Where are you? Where are we?”
“..New York..”
“Yeah? Where are we right now?”
She pauses. Thinks. Looks confused.
“Alphabet city?”
“How long have you been here for?”
She has no answer to that. She doesn’t know.
“Nat, have you lost any time?”
“I’ve been.. asleep.” She says defensively.
“Did you dream? Or maybe see some things that might not be true?” He says gently.
She lets go of his hands.
“I don’t know.. I.. It felt real Clint.”
“They don’t know this place, Nat. They can’t have come here. They can’t get in your room in the tower. And you can always check the cameras with Friday if you want. Do you remember last time? Do you remember what we did?”
Natasha ducks her head. Ashamed.
“Yeah.”
“Yeah? Tell me, how do we check?”
Slowly. Slowly.
“Hit record on the phone, play it back..check..”
“Yeah.” He says. “They’re our team mates, friends. They love you. They want you close, they want to help, even if that means staying away. How about we go back, but we tell Friday for everyone to stay away?”
Silence.
“Clint, this isn’t like before. This isn’t like when I came to shield.” She says, pleadingly.
“I know. But I think this has shaken you more than you think.” Pauses, then asks with hesitation, “How’d you feel about talking to someone?”
“No.” She says immediately. “You know that’s not how we do things.”
“Yeah, but this-“ gestures to the bed, the blood, the apartment, “isn’t how we do things either. We don’t run from each other. You scared me, Nat.” Swallows. “You’re scaring me.”
She’s not looking at him, staring at the ceiling. But this time can’t stop the tears from gathering and falling.
“What about if I ask Tony, to find my old therapist? The one from..”
“No.”
“Nat..She’s good..What about one session? If it’s shit, you can leave. We can go anywhere. It can be in the tower. Tony can organise it. Shield doesn’t need to know.”
He can tell she’s considering it. Just needs a little push.
“I can come with you?” He offers.
Silence.
Consideration. (Maybe.)
Not even her facial expression changes.
She turns away and stands, wipes her eyes away from from him and composes herself.
“Fine. One time.”
“Okay?”
“Okay.” She responds turning back around to him. “But only because you think it’s necessary.”
He feels like she’s blocking him out now. Because of this request, because of asking.
If only he could read her mind. He’s not actually sure he wants to but in times like this he wants to know. Has he lost her? Will she run at the first chance she gets?
He stands with her.
“You know I got you, right?”
She doesn’t answer and moves to the door.
“Let’s go.” She says. She stalks out leaving him to grab her bag and chase after her.

Golden Kamuy chapter 210: holy shit, this is a chapter that we’ve all been dying for.
Ah yes, chapter 210, you are already a chapter that I’m completely in love with and it shows many of Noda’s strengths as an artist and a storyteller.
The chapter is called “sweet lies” and this is clearly a reference to what Tsurumi has told many people but the focus is on Koito and Tsukishima in particular.  The title page makes it very clear that Koito will be a major focus of this chapter.  I have been waiting for these events ever since Ogata called Koito a bon-bon in Russian and kicked him in the face before escaping.
Tumblr media
Koito’s right hand holds his photo of Tsurumi and Tsukishima that he had acquired from Tsukishima back in chapter 101.
Recall that he was upset that Shiraishi had escaped and he had also encountered Ogata on the airship who helped in the escape.  Tsukishima is in part trying to get Koito to calm down by giving him this very photo.
Tumblr media
Looking back at this panel for the first time in awhile, it shows that Koito has a little light in his eyes and he wishes he were born earlier to serve at Tsurumi’s side in the war.  Koito immediately has a pre-cut photo of his own head that he wants to glue on over Tsukishima’s and he tells him to make him some rice glue.
Tumblr media
Tsukishima says, no, but based on the title page for 210 he definitely found some glue somehow.
When they were heading to Abashiri, recall that Koito had more doctored photos including this one here:
Tumblr media
At some point, he got another photo with Tsurumi in it as well as other commanding officers and he added his own head to all of the men in the photo, longing to have had a chance to serve with Tsurumi.  Koito pre-photoshop - he was pretty dedicated to making his photo collages!
Now, also recall that this photo has been used for the cover of chapter 147 - Igogusa, where Tsukishima’s backstory and loyalty to Tsurumi was solidified.
Tumblr media
Really, all of this is indicating that Tsukishima and Koito are tied to Tsurumi and this photo shows how closely they are tied.  I’ll come back to this in a bit.  Like some of the other dense and intense chapters, I’m going to jump to the part between Asirpa and Sugimoto, that creates a pause and adds to the tension between Koito and Tsukishima.
The quick and dirty about Sugimoto and Asirpa’s separate paths:
The chapter continues to keep us in the dark about the end of Sugimoto and Asirpa’s conversation after the movies.  It is now the night before Tsurumi will arrive in Odomari.  Asirpa reminds us that she’s never actually met Tsurumi, she only knows about him through her interactions with everyone else.  This really does two things for me as a reader - it seems to speak to unresolved issues between the two and she’s musing what type of man Tsurumi is.  Hasn’t she gotten enough information to in part figure this out from what others have said and done?  I’m a little surprised by this statement, she saw what Tsurumi did to Sugimoto’s face with those dango skewers.
Tumblr media
Either way, just like before her encounter with Wilk at Abashiri she’s expressing her concerns about what will happen.  She wants to know what Sugimoto will do in the gold hunt?  What will Tsurumi do with the gold?  Most importantly, what will happen to the Ainu, her community in all of this.  Sadly, Sugimoto can’t see the forest through the trees.  His current vision on all of this is “Asirpa vision”.  As long as Asirpa is removed from the hunt for the gold, it will be alright - she’ll be clean and she can go back home to Huci.  As the lovely Merdopseudo has written, Sugimoto is back to his usual habit of “Sugisplaining”, that Asirpa doesn’t need to think about things.  Just be good, give up the code and walk away from the gold, the Ainu and just go back home, safe, clean and pure.  Kiro told Ogata that Asirpa’s time on Karafuto was to mature her - and it has.  I still miss Kiro’s character greatly but he really helped Asirpa see the bigger picture than just her kotan in Hokkaido.
These entire two pages almost fade to the background compared to the rest of the chapter.  Their relationship dynamic has changed.  Both are holding back now thinking about their own concerns and their goals which have shifted or the fact that Asirpa is gaining a new and different goal.  Her new focus is scary for Sugimoto.  I don’t think they are being as honest to each other as they should be.  They aren’t good at conflict - both are dancing around the major issues involved in this entire gold hunt.
In a way, I like how fucking awkward these two pages are - it really highlights that their reunion wasn’t what either of them expected it to be and that they are currently on different paths.  I love this tension - I’m waiting for it to explode.
Now onto the meat of the chapter.
Koito has put the pieces together and his world view is shattering:
The chapter has a lovely two page spread of the harbor at Odomari as Koito asks Tsukishima a question before Tsurumi’s arrival.  We first see Koito looking at his photo of Tsurumi and Tsukishima that his face has slid off of.  Koito’s brow is very furrowed and he’s really intense looking.  I love how the picture of a steamship is followed by his face shaded and more focus in his eyes.  Tsukishima makes a comment that Koito isn’t at excited and cheerful as he would normally be about Tsurumi’s arrival.  Remember that Koito was in tears as they left for Karafuto as he longingly looked at his Tsurumi bromide!
Tumblr media
As Koito speaks to Tsukishima not looking at him, he tells him that Ogata told him something at the hospital in Akou before he escaped.  He first mentions the Russian term for bon-bon.  Tsukishima’s eyes narrow a bit before he continues on.  He goes on to tell him that Ogata (with his face completely shaded in black) tells him that “the next time he meets Lt. Tsurumi . . .”  and then he turns to him and looks at him directly (please get some chapstick Ogata!) to “ask him about the Manchurian railway.”
Tsukshima’s reaction is both one of surprise (as indicated by the light burst) and also one of annoyance and stress.  Tsukishima has stress lines under his eyes, his cap covers part of his eyes and his face is shaded as he’s only able to reply with “. . . .”
Tumblr media
Koito then begins to describe the Manchuria Railway as a concession from the Treaty of Portsmouth, meaning it went from Russian control to Japanese control.  This then solidified the Japanese presence in Manchuria under the guise of the expansion of the influence of Imperial Japan and its increasingly aggressive colonial role in the region.
If you have any knowledge of the history of this in the region leading up to the second world war than this doesn’t come as a surprise to you as a reader per se.  The important part is what Koito then adds in.
Tumblr media
Koito has additional information due to his background; he knows that one member of the army was quite vocal about the whole Manchuria Railway, Hanazawa.  He is still a shitty father in my mind, but hey, it looks like as a member of the military and Satsuma elite he did think about things from a strategic perspective.  Therefore, Hanazawa was the lone critic about the whole railway situation.
Koito then goes on further to explain that b/c his father was friends with Hanazawa, he also knew about the controversy surrounding the railway and that Koito heard about it in his household.  Koito also knows that Tsurumi connects the bodies of their comrades from the Russo-Japanese war will be at rest on Japanese soil and that it should include Manchuria.  This was mentioned in the flashback that Tsurumi and Tsukishima had in chapter 150 when both were wounded at Mukden.
Tumblr media
Tsukishima still doesn’t have a response to Koito’s inquiries as he continues to connect Tsurumi’s goals with what happened with Hanazawa’s death.  Tsukishima’s eyes are barely visible, his eyes are almost completely obscured by his cap and its shadow.  This does NOT LOOK GOOD AT ALL. This looks very concerning and that Tsukishima is thinking about likely bad things.  Koito continues forward and very emotionally asks Tsukishima is there is a direct connection between Hanazawa’s death and Tsurumi.
Tumblr media
By the time he’s blurted it out, Koito is nervously sweating, his hair is a bit loose and his stress lines under his eyes are intense.  He’s almost pleading with Tsukishima for him to not confirm what he’s thinking.  Tsukishima looks anything but pleased, his face is deadpan and his eyes are pretty much obscured completely and his face is half shaded.
Koito still doesn’t get an answer from Tsukishima,  so he becomes even more emotional, still sweating and gesturing with his left hand for emphasis.  He throws out the theory that Ogata wasn’t happy with the fact that central put the blame on the 7th and Hanazawa which resulted in his suicide, so he joined with Tsurumi’s plan for the coup.  But since Hanazawa was in the way of the Manchurian Railway, Tsurumi had him eliminated and Ogata found out and defected against him.  The then asks why Ogata would tell him that and we still can’t see Tsukishima’s facial expression well!
When Tsukishima finally looks up and replies to Koito his looks are so robotic.  His eyes seem cold and even though he’s got stress lines his face is deadpan.  He replies that Ogata will say anything to foil their plans and then he turns the conversation around to ask him why he trusts Ogata’s words now.  Koito was ready to shoot the wildcat to kill previously - this is a 180 for Koito’s opinion on Ogata for sure.
Tumblr media
With great emotion and intensity Koito then says “Barchonok” the Russian term for bon-bon.  He flat out states that Ogata was one of the kidnappers at Hakodate.  He knows it.  Koito is correct and on the money - he’s not backing down and he needs answers now.
The chapter then transitions to the two pages with Sugimoto and Asirpa to build the tension between them.  Technically they don’t even get a full 2 pages as Koito and Tsukishima are on the bottom here:
Tumblr media
Koito looks shocked when Tsukishima deadpan asks what is clearly a rhetorical question. That the bodies were Russian.  Koito was there - he’d know what he saw right?  Eh? Eeeeehhhh? Koito looks so shocked at his reply - this can’t be Tsukishima’s answer to him?  He knows Tsukishima!
He then asks Tsukishima to confirm that he was one of the masked kidnappers too!  Koito is at his limit of patience.  He’s so many emotions at once; upset, hurt, confused, sad, angry . . . a man whom he has trusted hurt him in the past all for Tsurumi’s own personal gain.
Tumblr media
Tsukishima’s reply is still dead pan though now he’s lifted his hands in defense of Koito’s aggressive questioning.  He falls back on the idea that Koito, is falling prey to Ogata’s manipulations, while Koito recognizes that Tsurumi made sure he and his father are in debt to Tsurumi.  I love the fact that Koito sees that he and father were set up to be used by Tsurumi and so were Hanazawa and Ogata.
With Tsukishima’s reply that it is delusional, Koito forges ahead in his accusations of Tsurumi’s manipulations. Koito then realizes, he’s getting no where with Tsukishima and he’ll just make sure he and his father ask Tsurumi directly.  I love this facial expression from Koito!  He looks so determined as he’s physically turned away from Tsukishima in a sense giving up on him and moving forward on his own.
Tumblr media
Finally, Tsukishima strikes back stopping Koito dead in his tracks. With an absolutely creepy facial expression, not even looking at Koito directly he asks about the fact that the two of them were saved during the kidnapping.  This is such a loaded statement, since it implies that there was a possibility where they weren’t saved!
Tumblr media
Yes, if Koito and his father didn’t play along to Tsurumi’s tune during the kidnapping, well it implies that the 27th didn’t need to spare them.  They could have killed Koito and his father during the process!
This stops Koito.  He turns back to Tsukishima with a very uncomfortable “what?” . . . that his brain is trying to process exactly what Tsukishima just said.
Tsukishima then goes on to state that he didn’t realize that Ogata knew of the connection between Hanazawa and the railway.  He thought Ogata’s goal has always been to expose Tsurumi and turn him over to Central Command.  This is a reference all the way back to his shoot out with Ogata in Yubari here.
Tumblr media
This confirms that what Tsukishima told Ogata was his own personal theory behind Ogata’s motivations.  I was always curious about it, since I had always though this was something that Tsukishima thought, but I was never sure if this was something Tsurumi told Tsukishima or something that Tsukishima came up with.  With the way that Tsukishima describes it to Koito, I will read that this is a Tsukishima theory - not one from Tsurumi.  I think this makes sense, Tsukishima worked with Ogata long enough that he thought he had a decent read on him - but as we’ve come to expect - most characters never have a good read on him - they still place their own ideas on him to explain his actions.
This continues with his statement that he can’t figure out what Ogata was unhappy with - that Tsurumi gave him the opportunity to kill his father wasn’t enough to please him?
Koito looks like he’s in a state of shock as he asks for confirmation that Ogata killed Hanazawa as a part of Tsurumi’s plans.  His face is covered in sweat drops, his face is shaded he doesn’t really know what to say or do. . . . When Koito was first introduced, he wanted to know why Ogata would betray Tsurumi with his father’s death under the pressure of central command.
Tumblr media
Tsukishima doesn’t even stop to confirm or deny this, he just keeps talking deadpan in expression.  He simply states that he was tricked as well and by a very elaborate ruse.  Tsukishima is just short of saying that Tsurumi must have manipulated Ogata into killing Hanazawa or making him believe that this is something that he would want to do . . . .  He can’t outright say that Tsurumi manipulated Ogata to do the actions he’s done - instead, he goes on to state that he was deceived as well.
This seems to indicate that there must have been something between Ogata and Tsukishima - he’s done many terrible things for Tsurumi, but he’s still almost judging Ogata actions as different than his.
Anyways, back to Tsukishima’s poor explanation for Koito - he leaves out a lot of information that we will remember from chapter 149-150 and instead jumps into state that he met another man from Niigata, Sado in particular in the field hospital during the battle of Mukden, when he angrily then approached Tsurumi but still protected him when they both were injured.  Only much later did Tsukishima realize that there was no way for him to bump into a member of the 2nd, the division that he and Tsurumi were in during the Sino-Japanese war.
Tumblr media
Therefore, that man was a plant by Tsurumi to test his loyalty to Tsurumi and his future plans to go after the Ainu gold.  Tsukishima freely expresses to Koito that Tsurumi molded him into the perfect right hand man for him.  He went to a great length to shape Tsukishima and that Tsukishima would do whatever he asked.
The scariest part is how Tsukishima has accepted this.  And it all makes sense how despite working hard and being a dependable individual, that he never seemed to break away from Tsurumi’s influence on Karafuto.
This entire panel haunts me. Tsukishima is stating that he sees no value in his own life.  He’s accepted the fact that he is totally fine with what Tsurumi has done to him.  He won’t even bother getting upset in the first place b/c his life has had little value to begin with.  Therefore, he will follow Tsurumi’s plans to help the 7th.
Tumblr media
Most importantly, when a completely wrecked Koito is finally able to ask him if that is all of Tsurumi’s goals - Tsukishima can’t look him in the eyes to reply.  Just that Tsurumi’s specialty is “saving people with “sweet lies”.” and that he has no idea with his final goal is.
This implies that Tsukishima sees himself as “saved” by Tsurumi and therefore he owes him for his life.  If the reader still takes Tsukishima’s Igogusa flashback at face value and he killed his father and it was of Tsukishima’s own free will that it happened - it returns to the idea that Tsukishima sees himself as a dead man walking and that he’s using his borrowed time to serve Tsurumi.
I can’t help (along with many other readers) wonder if Tsurumi manipulated Tsukishima into attacking his father so that he could “rescue” him from prison and created loyalty by killing his father.  I mean it is clear that is the method he used with Ogata in 103.
Koito tries to get an answer from Tsukishima on why he’d continue along with this, but Tsukishima simply states it is better to align oneself with an individual with grandiose plans.  In the most detached way possible with a blank face, he states his true desire is to watch Tsurumi’s manipulations all the way to the end.  He seals his fate of going down with Tsurumi like the loyal right hand man that he was molded to become.  Free will isn’t a Tsukishima thing.
He then finally states that Koito must keep all of this information to himself as Koito is sweating, breathing heavily and literally on the verge of a panic attack as he warns him that Tsurumi will kill him and that Tsukishima will be the one to do it.
Tumblr media
And keep in mind.  Despite how respectable Tsukishima may look, he’s the man who shot Captain Wada in the head at point blank range!  Wada commands Tsukishima to fire at will, to which he replies yes and shoots Wada instead of Tsurumi.
Tumblr media
Tsurumi then mentions Manchuria to the rest of the men of the 27th present when this happens.
Okay, back to the current chapter.
It zooms out to Koito leaning forward, panting as his knees are beginning to give out.  To me it looks like he’s about to have a full blown panic attack.  Readers are used to Koito as being overly dramatic, and he drops to his knees declaring that Tsurumi is amazing.  His fingers are contorted and he looks stiff when he’s on his knees as his eyes almost roll up into his head.
He’s sweating and blushing all over his nose and face, something that we haven’t seen on him before.  He can’t help but scream out that he’s pleased that Tsurumi wanted him to join him so badly.
He does his usual overly dramatic prostration but then spins on the dirt as he declares how impressed he is as being a part of Tsurumi’s plans.
Tumblr media
Tsukishima just watches him from afar as this happens.
Thankfully, Sei Kobiyama on twitter was able to point out a key point during this scene.  Usually, when Koito had a meltdown, he would end up expressing himself in his local Satsuma accent - thus making his screams unclear to the reader and those around him.
This time, when Koito becomes distraught, his understandable accent is maintained, as mentioned here:
Tumblr media
This is a linguistic change that Koito no longer sees Tsurumi as his saviour and someone to look up to - instead, he’s a man who will go to great lengths to get men to serve him loyally.
The chapter then ends with Tsurumi and the 27th arriving in Karafuto.  Both Usami and Warrant Officer Kikuta are with him.  Usami’s face is obscured so we can’t see his eyes and he’s likely pleased while Kikuta looks a bit sad. He’s likely torn between the recent events in Noboribetsu with Ariko and serving Tsurumi.
Tumblr media
This was one hell of a chapter!
What are the major take home points from this:
Koito’s innocence is lost.
With Ogata’s hints, Koito has realized how much of his life has been influenced and manipulated by Tsurumi.  Encountering Tsurumi in Kagoshima when he ws visiting his brother’s grave.  Spllling out his feelings to Tsurumi a nice and pleasant man in 1900.  How the entire kidnapping was to make sure Koito and his father would fall into line with Tsurumi.  He gained access to the navy (necessary for defending Hokkaido from the main island in the event of a coup) and also gained a talented but unwavering subordinate in Koito.
Koito was raised to be an ideal 2nd lt. for Tsurumi - much better than the very annoying and rule following Yuusaku.  With how elaborate Tsurumi’s scheme was to get Koito to worship him, it makes it even more clear that Yuusaku would have be the largest impediment to Tsurumi’s goals with the 27th.  In this chapter, Koito tells Tsukishima that he’ll call Tsurumi out in front of his father - I am not 100% certain that Yuusaku would have done the same thing - we know he was a rule follower to the end and I wonder if Yuusaku may have said something to a similar effect.  Or the idea that Yuusaku if left alive would also run to his father to expose Tsurumi’s plans.  Whatever the background with Yuusaku - it was clear that he was a non-manipulable individual.
Some people may have thought he faked things or was spazzing out at the end of the chapter - I read it that he’s in part now aware of what he should say but at the same time his own viewpoint is so shattered that it comes out as a bizarre mix of drama, comedy and horror.  The best way I can approach it is from personal experience.  Where something happens and you just don’t know how to react so in part you are almost laughing but crying at the same time but you are a total mess of emotions and it becomes overwhelming.
If we stop and think about it - Koito was manipulated since he was 14!  14!  This is horrible and he’s digesting this in his early 20s now.  Not like this woudln’t upset him at all?  Furthermore, this is all from Tsukishima, a man who he looked up to and felt like he knew and trusted.  Sure, Koito could be rude with him, but this is the man who carried him to a dog sled, who placed him on the sled gently and protected him from Kiro’s explosives.  All of Tsukishima’s actions benefited and protected Koito.  To have that same person threaten to kill you.  Well, that would be a total emotional mindfuck.
This is setting up an interesting dyanmic between Ogata and Koito.  With the flaskback to the kidnapping, it was Ogata who patted Koito on the back while Tsukishima held back.  Ogata didn’t need to be nice to him but he was.  Both men were ignored by their fathers for a “favored” brother.  Once was legitimate despite being younger while the other was older and was supposed to carry on the family honor.  At one point in time, Koito and Ogata were not seen as useful by their fathers.  Tsurumi’s actions got Koito’s father to notice him, while nothing Tsurumi did, could get Ogata’s father to notice him.
I am comfortable enough to throw out the idea that Ogata is acting like an older brother to Koito.  Not an amazingly great older brother, but at least as one who is giving him enough information to see what is happening and maybe change things. Koito’s older brother was kind and had very pale skin tone as shown here from young Koito vision.
Tumblr media
We see a sparkle of light in his older brother and the old idea is that he was a very good older brother to Koito.
Ogata is canonically referred to as being usually pale - most obviously here by Shiraishi.
Tumblr media
Ogata does not like involving innocent individuals in schemes - when Koito was younger he was still innocent - enough that kidnapper Ogata would be kind to him.
You could try to write this off as Ogata being an agent of chaos - but agents of chaos don’t have a soft spot for innocents.  We know that Ogata has a whole hang up on innocence and purity in the context of those who commit atrocities and who can wipe their hands clean of them.  But, since Koito is a military man who has dirtied his hands, he’s already someone that Ogata can relate to much better than Yuusaku.
The bonus of this, is that Ogata can deal a blow to Tsurumi’s plans by releasing Koito from his control.  Ogata in addition to his obsession with finding a blessed path, is one of exercising free will.  This may explain why he was upset at Wilk’s role to set Asirpa up as an idol for the Ainu - she does not have her own free will to decide and she was too similar to Yuusaku.
Thankfully, their showdown in the ice floe really helped to shift some of her thinking in addition to Kiro’s death.
Can the tiger’s curse be Koito having to face his own actions and choose a free will in the 27th?  Realizing that he is tied to the lynx, Ogata and that the two men have much more in common than Koito already knows in regards to their fathers’ friendship?  I think Ogata even respects the fact that Koito is an intelligent man, just that he didn’t apply himself.  He was able to easily catch up to his peers to pass the military exams so Ogata was likely banking on his intelligence to connect the few bits of information that he left Koito with before escaping.  I personally really want Koito to break away from Tsurumi and team up with Ogata.  I think Ogata is working with the partisans and if Ogata re-appears, Sofia will be with him and Koito can talk to Sofia (still banking on both of them bonding by talking in French).
Is there any “hope” for Tsukishima?
Oh man.  This is a hard summary for me here - I love Tsukishima.  When the action moved to Karafuto, I really fell in love with his character more.  I have a meta about how upstanding and respectful he is as a character to others.  He did what was expected of him, made sure Svetlana told her parents what happened, helped up a Russian guy he knocked down in the stenka and kept having all of these “soft” nice guy moments.
But what began to worry me was his lack of doubt at things.  Koito seemed to be more open to questioning what was happening.  He told himself to shoot a thieving cat on sight - that he had to tell himself facts about Ogata to make sure he’d capture and kill him.  Meanwhile, Tsukishima remained silent. He relayed facts to Sugimoto about the wildcat nickname but he never said anything to get Sugimoto more riled up or less upset by Ogata.  He just did what was required of him.
He only became pushy once they reached Toyohara where they were to wait until meeting up with Tsurumi in Odomari (next chapter?).  It is almost as though Tsukishima is a example of the trope that one should be worried about the “normal” ones.   He has done his job always with benefiting Tsurumi in the end.  He’ll now follow him to the end even if it means he dies alongside with him.
Noda called him the conscience of the 7th back when he made the character guides at the beginning of the tankobans.  I am beginning to wonder if his conscience is more of the fact that Tsukishima will express a moral doubt or concern only to still follow orders?
Tumblr media
I can’t help but look at these eyes here, here he blankly tells Koito he’s fine with his situation in 210.
Tumblr media
Are similar to Ogata’s in chapter 103 to Hanazawa.
Tumblr media
Both express the emotions - or lack thereof of men who are doing horrible things that are clearly harming them but following through on those actions b/c Tsurumi is leading them to that.
For volume 15 Noda expanded chapter 150 to include how Tsukishima let go of the lie that kept him tied to Tsurumi from the end of the Sino-Japanese war until the Battle of Mukden.
Special thanks to @goldenkamuyhunting for these edited images of the volume version.
While in Otaru, Tsukishima goes out alone in the evening.  He reveals that he’s held onto Igogusa’s hair all these years.  He is a dark figure against the lighter buildings in the harbor.
Tumblr media
He pulls the hair the Tsurumi had given him that was folded between some well worn paper, that may even have some of his blood stains on it, indicating he kept it close to his chest when he was in battle.
He stands on the edge of the harbor and holds the open paper in his left hand, the hair in his right as his eyes are completely covered with his hat.  There is a slow motion opening of the right hand as it releases the hair so that it almost slides out.  Not throwing or anything active.  A passive release of the hair back into the ocean, depicted as a black abyss.
Tumblr media
We get his own view as the hair falls out of his hand and into the water to dark to see any details of.
As the hair falls into darkness on the next page we see Tsukishima walk back to the 27th barracks and he enters the back of a room full of men.  The two page spread shows Tsurumi removing his bandages in front of his men and the introduction of his face shield.
Tumblr media
Tsukishima watches all of this from the back of the room deadpan.  He has let go of his ties to his past and his love of Igogusa.  All that remains is his loyalty and devotion to Tsurumi.
This is it.  This is the point when Tsukishima dedicated himself full to serving Tsurumi.  He’ll follow him straight to hell if that is how things go down.
In some ways, I’m having a hindsight is 20/20 moment in regards to Tsukishima.  The entire time on Karafuto, Tsukishima has been relatively quiet.  He’s done what he was supposed to do and other than his emotional outburst with Svetlana, he’s been very tight lipped and silent.  This is a parallel with Ogata who was keeping quiet to not reveal his skills in Russian.  Tsukishima hides his devotion to Tsurumi through his banal and normal actions.  He doesn’t give us much to go on, it is easier for him to show nothing - by showing nothing or slight annoyance, others can’t get a read on him.
I would argue that Ogata is much more emotional and it shows on Ogata’s face much more than Tsukishima’s.  His default is to have a blank face when wants to cover, Ogata’s eyes frequently betray his emotions.  They are subtle but his are more obvious that Tsukishima’s.
What all does this mean for the future?
I am still under the indication that Koito will break away from the rest of the group.
I’m still hung up on this image from the end of 180.  We now know that Tsukishima will follow Tsurumi to the end.  Tanigaki has no problem following him as long as he doesn’t have to return home.  Sugimoto sold out Asirpa for 200 yen to Tsurumi.
Tumblr media
Cikapasi and Ryu stayed behind with Enonoka and her grandfather.  Koito stands separately.  I thought maybe he’d end up with Enonoka and her grandfather after he found out about Tsurumi.  That could still happen but what if Enonoka and her grandfather are a stand in for Asirpa and Huci and maybe Retar?
He would still be aligning himself with the Ainu, just Hokkaido Ainu versus the Karafuto Ainu.
I want to know what makes Tsukishima different from Ogata?  Both men were involved in the kidnapping of Koito.  Tsukishima continues to come back to Tsurumi despite that he’s in an abusive relationship.  Ogata snapped at something and couldn’t do it anymore?
Tumblr media
We know he doubted Tsurumi when he had him kill Hanazawa.  What was it that pushed him over the edge?  Why has Ogata escaped while the rest remain loyal to him.  Granted some of the men are less intelligent than Tsukishima, Koito and Ogata, but the smart ones see what his happening.  Is Kikuta also in this group of the more intelligent Tsurumi inner circle.  So far he’s proven himself to ge a quick witted and smart guy.
What happens if things begin to unravel?  How does Sugimoto think he can get out of this one?  The only reason he was able to escape Tsurumi the first time was with Asirpa and Shiraishi’s help and Tsurumi letting him go.  Now, he’s handing both Asirpa and Shiraishi into Tsurumi’s control - he won’t be able to rely on them being on the “outside” to help him.
Furthermore, Ogata demonstrated that if one escapes (as with Tanigaki in Kushiro) you escape before your watchers get close to the deadline.  The earlier you escape the better since they will become more attentive.  I’m sure Ogata learned this from Tsurumi and Tsukishima will know this.
Sorry I don’t have much more for you guys.  I’m still mulling things over and I’m re-adjusting to my work schedule so that will throw me off for a bit more.

Kathakali - The Grand Spectacle of Kerala
Kathakali is a profoundly stylised old style move show portrayed by its alluring make-up of its characters, expound outfits, definite motions and very much characterized body developments introduced in line with the grapple playback music and going with percussion. It began in the territory of Kerala during the sixteenth century AD, roughly somewhere in the range of 1555 and 1605. Kathakali has experienced fast updation and enhancements throughout the years.
The fundamental rights of a fruitful Kathakali entertainer are his aptitudes of fixation and physical endurance. Imperative endurance to last an entire night of thorough execution is picked up from controlled preparing dependent on Kalaripayattu, the old military craft of Kerala. This preparation readies an on-screen character for his requesting job. The preparation can frequently keep going for 8-10 years, and is escalated. The serious Kalaripayattu preparing has additionally subliminally impacted the non-verbal communication of Kathakali characters.
Historical underpinnings:
The name Kathakali gets from the Malayalam words "katha" (story) and "kali" (which means: play or execution).
Brief History:
As indicated by legends, Kathakali began from a forerunner move show structure called Ramanattam and owes a considerable lot of its exhibitions to Krishnanattam. To put it plainly, these two forerunning structures to Kathakali managed introducing accounts of the Hindu Gods Rama and Krishna (both are natural appearances of the Preserver among the Hindu trinity-Vishnu).
Legend has it that Kottarakkara Thampuran (1555-1605) (leader of the south Kerala area of Kottarakkara) formed most plays dependent on the Ramayana that in the long run prompted the development of Kathakali. In spite of the fact that Ramanattam as a work of art is wiped out, its accounts keep on living as a piece of Kathakali.
Kathakali is the consequence of effective amalgamation from different artistic expressions. It imparts likenesses to Krishnanattam, Koodiyattam (a Sanskrit dramatization execution of Kerala) and Ashtapadiyattam (an adjustment of twelfth century melodic called Gitagovindam). It likewise joins a few components from other conventional ceremonial works of art like Mudiyettu, Thiyyattu, Theyyam and Padayani other than a minor portion of society expressions like Porattunatakam.
Kathakali melodies are rendered in Manipravalam-which is a blend of the traditional language Sanskrit and neighborhood language Malayalam. Despite the fact that a large portion of the melodies are set in ragas dependent on the microtone-overwhelming Carnatic music, there is an unmistakable style of plain-note interpretation, which is known as the Sopanam style. This normally Kerala style of version takes its underlying foundations from the sanctuary melodies which used to be sung (proceeds even now at a few sanctuaries) when Kathakali was conceived.
The characters of Kathakali show up with vigorously painted faces and expand outfits. The movement is profoundly best in class (principally created Kaplingad Narayanan Namboodiri - 1739-1789) and authorizes stories transcendently from the Hindu sagas. Despite the fact that Kathakali was customarily been acted in sanctuaries and castles,Alex Kime Chicago over the previous century it has likewise discovered settings in post-reap paddy fields just as proscenium phases of open corridors/auditoria. Kathakali is a visual treat and its green painted entertainer has gotten interchangeable with the raised culture of Kerala.
Noticeable highlights of Kathakali:
Kathakali comprises of five old style components of compelling artwork:
Articulations (Natyam, the segment with accentuation on outward appearances)
Move (Nritham, the segment of hit the dance floor with accentuation on mood and development of hands, legs and body)
Establishment (Nrithyam, the component of dramatization with accentuation on "mudras", which are hand signals)
Tune/vocal backup (Geetha)
Instrument backup (Vadyam)
Kathakali plays
Generally there are 101 traditional Kathakali stories. The most usually organized stories among them may associate with 30-40. In those occasions when amusement media was amazingly constrained, Kathakali exhibitions were intended to last an entire night. We may state it might have evoked the reaction of a contemporary live performance.
Execution
Kathakali in its most flawless structure is acted before the immense Kalivilakku (kali importance move or execution and vilakku meaning light). The light was lit with a thick wick fuelled by coconut oil. This light was the single wellspring of brightening when the plays used to be performed inside sanctuaries, royal residences or homes of aristocrats and blue-bloods. This aided in making a feeling of wonderment and riddle and helped the entertainer misrepresent the characters he played. It was conceivably one of the principal compelling employments of light to highlight the characters and make a display.
Kathakali is instituted with the backup of music (geetha) and instruments (vadyam). The percussion instruments utilized are Chenda, Maddhalam and Edakka. The lead artist is classified "Ponnani" and his devotee is designated "Shingidi". The lead artist utilizes the "Changala" (gong made of chime metal, which can be hit with a wooden stick) to direct the Vadyam and Geetha segments, similarly as a conduit utilizes his wand in western traditional music and the Shingidi utilizes the "Elathalam" (a couple of cymbals) to add a variety to the music. Most music is customarily framed in gatherings of up to 14 individuals. Be that as it may, typically the melodies are formed with more than 20 individuals.
The distinctive element of Kathakali is that the entertainers never talk yet use hand signals, articulations and cadenced moving rather than discourse (however for two or three uncommon characters). The story is established simply by the developments of the hands (called mudras or hand motions) and by outward appearances (rasas) and substantial developments. The articulations are gotten from Natya Shastra (the tome that manages the study of articulations) and are arranged into nine as in most Indian old style fine arts. Artists additionally experience exceptional practice meetings to learn control of their eye developments.
Kathakali execution rotates around 24 essential mudras - the change and mix of which would include a piece of the hand motions stylish today. Each can be separated again can be grouped into 'Samaana-mudras'(one mudra representing two substances) or "Misra-mudras" (both the hands are utilized to show these mudras). The mudras are a type of gesture based communication used to recount to the story.
The fundamental outward appearances of a Kathakali craftsman are the 'Navarasams' (Nine tastes or articulations). The Navarasams are: Sringaram (love), Hasyam (scorn, humor), Bhayanakam (dread), Karunam (sentiment), Roudram (outrage, rage), Veeram (valor), Beebhatsam (sicken), Adbhutam (wonder, awe), Shantam (serenity, harmony).
Kathakali has an intricate make-up code. The make-up might be characterized into five essential sets to be specific Pachcha, Kathi, Kari, Thaadi, and Minukku. The contrasts between these sets lie in the prevalent hues that are applied on the face. Pachcha (which means green) has green as the prevailing shading and is utilized to depict honorable male characters that are said to have a blend of "Satvik" (devout) and "Rajasik" (regal) nature. Rajasik characters having a detestable streak ("tamasic"= fiendish) - no different they are screw-ups in the play, (for example, the evil spirit ruler Ravana) - and depicted with dashes of red in a green-painted face. Too much underhandedness characters, for example, evil presences (absolutely tamasic) have an overwhelmingly red make-up and a red facial hair. They are called Chuvanna Thaadi (Red Beard). Tamasic characters, for example, ignoble trackers and woodsmen are spoken to with a transcendently dark make-up base and a dark facial hair and are called Kari/Karutha Thaadi (which means dark whiskers). Ladies and religious zealots have glistening, yellowish appearances and this semi-sensible classification shapes the fifth class. Moreover, there are alterations of the five fundamental sets portrayed better than as Vella Thadi (white whiskers) used to delineate Hanuman (the Monkey-God) and Pazhuppu, which is significantly utilized for Lord Shiva and Balabhadra.
Minukku
Minukku is the cleaned assortment of facial make-up comprising in smoothening the entertainer's face with a covering of a blend of yellow and red shades. The arrangement gets 'a self' (or normal skin) appearance shading. It mirrors the characters normally found in Brahmins, Ascetics and Virtuous ladies. The eyes and eye-lashes are painted and shapes lengthened with the dark unguent and oily collyrium. Some of the time the face is enriched with white or cream shading specks, running from the cheeks to the front head in a bow-shape. The lips are blushed and the temple is enriched with a station mark. This shading plan serves to give a representative sparkle of devotion to a fan character. Ladies job types are given sensitive contacts of the make-up.
Pachcha
Pachcha delineates a dark green face. The endorsed jobs are Gods, commended legendary saints, and ethical personages, representing internal refinement balance, chivalry and good greatness. This incorporate legends of a play and honorable characters, Indra, Krishna, Rama, Lakshmana, Bharata, Sathrugnan, Harishchandra and Nala. The forward portion of their appearances is given smooth dark green base on which chuttis (white rice-glue bends) run from the focal point of the jawline, covering the lower jaw, to either side of the face. The eyes and the eye-lashes are painted dark and the lips splendid red. It expect the state of a wide cutting edge saber or of a broad bend of a bow. The brow, over the tie formed painted segment, is secured by a red lace of the overlaid head gear.

“This is really nice,” you commented as you and Byounggon walked through the C9 Entertainment building lobby.
“I think so too.” he agreed. “The food here isn’t as good as YG’s though.”
The two of you stopped in front of a poster of Jinyoung.
“C9′s golden boy,” Byounggon sighed. You nudged him with your shoulder.
“And you’re a part of C9′s golden group.” you reminded him. He looked down at his feet and tried to bite back a smile.
“Cheer up, baby!” you sang, doing an over-exaggerated version of the iconic dance. He snorted and pushed your arms down.
“I’ll stop you before you embarrass yourself.” he whispered. You rolled your eyes and nodded.
“I’ll take you to meet the guys now.” he said, wrapping an arm around your shoulder and pulling you towards the elevators.
After a couple minutes of waiting and riding in the elevator, you found yourself waiting outside of one of the practice rooms and listening to muffled laughter and talking.
“Why do I feel nervous?” you asked, running your hands over your jeans to get rid of any moisture.
“You don’t need to feel nervous.” he assured you. He opened the door and slightly entered the room.
“Guys, my friend is here.” he announced.
“Tell them to come in,” you heard from inside of the room. Byounggon stuck his head out into the hallway and motioned for you to come inside of the room.
You sighed softly and walked in. You shared a split second of eye contact with all of them before bowing.
“Hi, I’m (Y/N).” you greeted them before smiling as if your heart wasn’t on the verge of falling out of your chest.
“Byounggon...” one boy started.
“You didn’t tell us she was...” another trailed.
“Tall? Yeah, I get that a lot.” you laughed. The other boys laughed too.
“Byounggon, should we introduce ourselves?” Seunghun asked Byounggon. The older boy shrugged.
“Might as well.”
They introduced themselves one by one and you felt yourself smile after they all finished.
“So...are you like the female version of Han Hyunmin?” Yonghee asked. “Your Korean is really good.”
You shook your head. “Nope, both of my parents are mostly African American. I decided to start learning Korean when I was younger and my sister encouraged me.”
“That’s really impressive.” Seunghun said, sitting on the floor of the practice room. Everyone else in the room sat on the floor with you and Byounggon sitting next to each other and Seunghun sitting across from you. “How were you able to stay so focused?”
“My brother-in-law is Chinese and my sister promised to get me Korean language books if I promised to learn some of the same phrases in Mandarin.” you explained. They nodded in response.
“And just so you guys know, you don’t have to speak so formally. I’m younger than Jinyoung.” you informed the boys, surprising them.
“Really?” Jinyoung asked. You nodded.
“People usually think that I’m older than I actually am because I’m tall.” you clarified.
“So are you fluent in Mandarin?” Hyunsuk asked. You shook your head.
“I’m not fluent but I wouldn’t be completely lost if I was randomly dropped off in Shanghai.”
“Now that we know her language abilities, let’s talk about the important issue.” Seunghun stated, causing everyone to look over at him.
“What’s the important issue?” Jinyoung asked. Seunghun looked between you and Byounggon with a mischievous smile.
“How long have you and Byounggon been seeing each other?” the chocolate-haired boy asked as he folded his arms across his chest.
Your eyes widened and you quickly shook your head.
“Oh, we aren’t- I just- Byounggon and I-” you started.
“You and Byounggon what?” Seunghun teased.
Byounggon wrapped his arm around your shoulder and pulled you into his side, laying his head on top of yours.
“We’re just close friends.” he said brightly. When you moved your head to look examine his expression, he wriggled his eyebrows at you.
“Are you sure?” Seunghun teased, looking at you pointedly.
You nodded as you pushed the older boy away from you playfully.
“Of course.“ you smile.
--
A few hours after the introduction, you found yourself in Byounggon’s studio. You were in a computer chair sitting next to Byounggon with Seunghun sitting on the couch scrolling through his phone.
You maintained two feet of distance from Byounggon and his computer as he read self-written lyrics over a self-produced song.
“What do you think?” he asked.
“It’s really good, Gon,” you started. Byounggon looked at you expectantly.
“But?” he prompted.
“It isn’t anything major, just some English grammar mistakes.” you explained. “Let me see your book.” you said, holding your hand out for his songbook.
He handed it to you and you grabbed a pencil from the pen cup he had on the computer desk and fixed the mistake with the book on your lap.
“You had ‘I can’t seeing you anymore’ but it’s supposed to be ‘I can’t see you anymore’...do you get it?” you asked. He hummed and shook his head.
“Let me see it.” he said, turning your chair so that you were facing each other. The two of you were so close that your knees touched.
“Is this better?” you asked in a slightly shaky tone. He nodded with a sly smile on his face.
“Okay so see...you had ‘I can’t seeing you anymore’ but it’s supposed to be ‘I can’t see you anymore’...so do you get it now?” you asked.
He nodded before resting his arm on the armrest of his chair, propping his arm up to rest his chin in his hand.
“This is why I said you should teach me English.” Byounggon chided.
“I’m not an English teacher, I’m an 18 year old girl.” you told him. “And that’s your fault for not paying attention in your English classes.”
“Seunghun and I were too busy learning Japanese in case Yang Hyunsuk wanted to ship us off to Japan like he did to iKon.” Seunghun hummed in agreement.
“You know I didn’t mean it like that,” you frowned. Byounggon laughed.
“I’m joking. Loosen up.” he said while patting your head.
“So what did you want to get for dinner?” he changed the subject. Seunghun gasped from his seat on the couch.
“We’re getting dinner?” he exclaimed. Byounggon looked over at the boy and nodded.
“I promised her food if she came to visit.” the older boy explained.
“I was joking when I said that.” you said as you poked his knee.
“You still came to visit~” he replied in a sing-song tone.
“Because I’ve only ever been to two entertainment companies and I wanted to see where you worked~” you replied in a similar tone. He made an ugly facial expression at you and you responded with one.
“Okay, stop flirting, you two.” Seunghun interjected.
You looked over to him with a surprised expression. “We aren’t flirting-” you started.
“Yeah, yeah, yeah. I’ve heard it all before.” the boy dismissed you. “I’ll go get the rest of the boys to help us decide what to get.” he said as he stood up from the couch.
“Don’t do anything weird while I’m gone.” Seunghun instructed before leaving the room.
“Is he always like that?” you asked Byounggon.
“No, he’s just worried.” he replied.
--
Forty-five minutes after watching the five boys argue over what to order for dinner, you found yourself sitting on the floor of CIX’s practice room eating pizza and chicken with the boys.
“Hey (Y/N)?” Jinyoung asked. You looked over to the boy as you wiped your mouth with a napkin.
“Did you have a Wanna One bias or a Produce 101 pick?” he asked. You quickly nodded.
“Of course.” you answered.
“Who was it?” he whispered.
“I’m not telling you directly.” you whispered back.
“Was it me?” he asked, leaning forward.
“Was it?” you avoided the question.
“I don’t know, that’s why I’m asking you.” he replied.
“I’m still not telling you directly.” you reiterated.
“It was probably you,” Seunghun whispered to the boy.
“I never said that it was him.” you lied while taking a second slice of pizza.
“You never said that it wasn’t either.” Yonghee interjected.
“What about Treasure Box? Did you have an ideal line-up for Treasure?” Seunghun interrogated.
“I liked the Team A line-up and Keita and Mashiho are really talented.” you answered. Jinyoung started to complain but Seunghun shushed him.
“Who was your favorite trainee?” Seunghun pressed. You noticed Byounggon gesturing to himself in your peripheral vision.
“What if I said Choi Hyunsuk?” you laughed. Byounggon stopped gesturing towards himself and glared at you.
“I knew Byounggon the most out of all of the trainees so I guess he was my favorite, but Seunghun,” you gestured to the boy, “and Choi Hyunsuk are really talented as well.”
“I was slightly disappointed with your answer at first but now I’m flattered. Thank you.” Seunghun smiled. You nodded.
Jinyoung sighed. “So you can tell them who you like from their show but-”
“I liked you and Daniel and my Produce 101 pick was Kim Donghyun.” you cut him off. Jinyoung tried to hide his smile.
“Why did you like me?” Jinyoung asked.
“Aren’t you asking for too much?” you laughed.
“I like knowing these things.” he replied. You sighed.
“I’ll give you the fansign answer.” you replied.
You put on your best cute face and batted your eyelashes.
“Because Jinyoungie is the most handsome and the coolest, uwu!” you said in a disgustingly cute voice. The boys sat in silence and made confused eye contact with each other for a second before bursting into laughter.
You flopped down onto the floor and sighed. “That took five years off of my life span.”
“That was great.” Hyunsuk laughed.
“Please don’t tell anyone about this.” you begged.
They reluctantly nodded, agreeing to protect your image.
--
After another hour of hanging out at the C9 Entertainment building, you decided to leave since the rain had let up for a while.
“It was really nice meeting you guys, thanks for letting me hang out with you guys.” you smiled. “You guys are going to do great things when you make your debut and I can’t wait to watch you guys grow as artists.”
They responded with a chorus of ‘thank you’s and you smiled.
“I’ll see you guys around, okay?” you said.
“Wait! Do you give hugs?” Yonghee asked. You quickly nodded.
“Of course!” you said before opening your arms to hug the boy. He hugged you back tightly.
“Wait, I want one too!” Jinyoung exclaimed. “A hug from my biggest fan!” he joked.
Eventually, all of the boys lined up for hugs with Byounggon being at the end of the line.
“I’ll hug you now because I don’t want to get in trouble for hugging you downstairs.” Byounggon informed you.
“Okay.” you said as he pulled you into a tight hug.
“This is nice,” he said, pulling you closer.
You nodded.
“Alright, you two, break it up.” Seunghun said. “Go ahead and take her downstairs, Byounggon.”
“Yeah, I should leave before it starts pouring again.” you agreed.
“Let’s head down then.” Byounggon said, leading you towards the elevator.
The other four watched you and Byounggon leave. When you were out of sight, Jinyoung turned to look at the rest of his members.
“Byounggon likes her.” he said. The other three nodded in agreement.
“Totally.” Hyunsuk agreed.
--
An hour and a half after leaving the C9 building, you walked out of the bathroom after having a shower. You sighed when you heard rain hitting the side of your apartment building and walked over to your window.
It’s still raining? you thought as you watched the rainwater pool in the small dips on the street. Your focus on the puddle-lined street was quickly drawn to the sky when you watched a large lightning bolt flash across it.
“One Mississippi...two Mississippi...three Mississippi...four- did their power go out?!” you gasped as you watched the lights of a few apartment buildings and homes a few neighborhoods away blink out after a loud crack of thunder echoed across Seoul.
Well, I hope they’re okay, you thought as you sat on your couch and turned on your TV.
The TV displayed an emergency broadcast on KBS 1.
“If you’re just joining us, the time is 11:17 at night and we are in the midst of an electrical storm,” the anchorwoman said. A man scrambled to the desk with a sheet of paper before running out of the shot.
The anchorwoman looked confused for a split second before twisting the slightly wrinkled paper so she could read it.
“We have just received reports from multiple sources of a complete power outage in a district about forty kilometers west of our broadcasting building with...no back-up generators available to provide power.” the man scrambled back up to her desk with another paper. “The Korean Electric Power Corporation, or KEPCO, is projecting that power will be available at 9 in the morning if all goes well.”
“We are being told that every back-up generator in the district has failed.”
The program moved into a different segment but kept a scrolling border on the bottom of the screen that repeatedly described the situation.
You changed to another channel after ten minutes and opened your phone to look at your friends’ posts and tweets on your private social media accounts. You were about to like a post when your phone began to ring.
“Byounggon? What’s up?” you asked in a confused tone.
“I need to ask you something...” he trailed off. Your eyebrows furrowed.
“What’s wrong?” you asked.
“Do you have electricity?”
“My TV and lights are on so I’m going to that assume I do.” you replied. “Let me guess, your dorm is in the district that had the power outage?”
“Yeah...” he trailed off a second time. “Hyunsuk was in the shower when the power went out and now he’s cold and wet.”
“Do you guys have a place to stay? It’s going to be even more humid later this evening.”
“That’s kinda why I called you.” he sighed. “I have a really big favor to to ask of you that you can totally say no to but if you don’t, I promise I’ll owe you for the rest of my life.”
“Byounggon, you don’t have to beat around the bush. Just go ahead and ask.” you laughed.
“Can we stay at your apartment for the night? Like I said, you can say-”
“Byounggon,” you tried to stop him.
“-no but I promise I’ll owe-”
“Byounggon.” you tried again.
“-you for the rest of my life. Hell, I’ll even owe you in the afterlife-”
“Lee Byounggon!” you exclaimed, silencing him. “I think I have enough room in my apartment for you guys.”
“Really?” he asked. You stood up and walked to the area where the two bedrooms were and checked them.
“Yep. Three of you will have to share a bed but as long as you guys are okay with that, all of us will be able to fit.” you informed him.
“I could ki- I mean, I’ll let the boys know.” he stuttered.
“Were all of you able to take showers?” you asked.
“No, Seunghun, Yonghee, and I weren’t able to shower. Do you mind if-”
“Do you actually think that I would stop you guys from showering?” you asked in disbelief.
“I don’t want your utility bills to go up,” he tried to argue.
“Byounggon, don’t worry about it.” you assured him.
“Make sure you and your members pack everything you’ll need for tonight, call two taxis or a taxi van, grab a bunch of surgeon’s masks and make sure that Hyunsuk’s hair is dry before you come over here.” you commanded.
“Oka-” he started but you cut him off.
“Make sure that the taxis come to the back entrance of your apartment building so that your sasaengs don’t see you guys leave. Be safe and don’t worry about repaying me because that isn’t what I’m worried about.” you finished.
“Did you get all of that?” you asked.
“Alright.”
“I’ll send you the address after we hang up, okay?”
“Okay. I’ll- We’ll see you soon, (Y/N).” You hummed in agreement before hanging up.
“I need to change my sheets,” you sighed as you stretched your legs.
You looked down at the tattoo on your left arm.
“And put a sweatshirt on.”
--
“It feels so good in here,” Yonghee sighed as he entered your apartment.
“Hurry up and take off your shoes so you can move out of the doorway,” Seunghun groaned from the outside of your apartment.
“He’s so annoying.” the younger boy whispered to you. You looked over his shoulder at Seunghun and back at him before nodding in agreement while laughing.
“What are you two saying?” Seunghun almost yelled.
“Nothing.” you and Yonghee replied in unison.
One by one, the boys entered your apartment, taking their shoes off and walking into your living room, looking around.
“I didn’t know you had a sister.” Seunghun said while looking at the framed photo of you and your sister that sat on your TV stand. “You guys look alike.” he commented.
“Did you make some of the songs on these?” Hyunsuk asked as he looked at the albums you kept on your shelf.
“Why do you have a framed photo of 2PM?” Jinyoung asked as he picked up the frame.
“Do you have a kid?” Yonghee asked as he picked up a framed photo of you holding your (then) one year old niece.
“Woah, that’s my niece!” you corrected the boy. “We probably have similar features because my sister and I look alike.”
You coughed a couple of times to get their attention as they looked at everything you had in their living room.
“So are you guys going to discuss room placements before or after showers?” you asked.
“’You guys?’ Aren’t you going to going to sleep in one of the rooms?” Seunghun asked.
You shook your head as you walked over to the couch and sat down.
“If you will notice my blanket and pillow,” you gestured to said items, “I will be sleeping in the living room.”
All of the boys voiced their opposition.
“This is your house though!” Jinyoung reasoned.
“I would feel bad if I slept in your bed while you slept on the couch.” Yonghee agreed.
“I can take the couch if you want,” Byounggon offered.
You shook your head.
“I can afford to sleep on the couch and potentially hurt my back because I work in the studio and not on the stage.” you shut them down. “Go be comfortable. You guys have had a long night.”
“Are you sure? Because if not-” Byounggon started.
“I promise I’ll be okay. I have to make a few overnight calls anyways and I wouldn’t want to disturb you guys.” you assured them.
“Now go get showered and go to sleep.” you said, pointing them in the direction of the bedrooms and bathrooms.
“Wait a minute!” you stopped them. The turned and looked at you expectantly.
“I make pancakes on Sundays and I was wondering if you guys wanted-”
“Yes.” Hyunsuk answered immediately.
“Seunghun, let her finish next time.” Byounggon scolded the younger boy.
“You think I’m going to pass up on the opportunity to eat American pancakes without having to leave South Korea?” Hyunsuk scoffed.
Byounggon rolled his eyes.
“Let’s go get showered, kids.” he sighed.
--
At around 12:50 in the morning, you opened your contacts app on your phone and scrolled a bit before pressing on a contact.
“Hopefully she’s awake.” you whispered as you tapped the phone icon, starting a call as you sat on the couch with your earbuds in.
The phone rang several times before the person you were calling answered.
“(Y/N)? What time is it there?” your sister asked.
“Good morning to you too, Aaliyah.” you laughed. She sucked her teeth.
“It’s almost 1 there? Aren’t you supposed to be calling Mom in a couple of hours?” she asked.
“Yeah, so, about that...” you started.
“What did you do?” she asked in the same voice she uses on your niece, Stella.
“So we’re in the middle of an electrical storm...” you trailed.
“What did you do?” she reiterated.
“Some friends of mine were at their dorm and the power went out while they were taking showers and it won’t be back on for another couple of hours and the nearest hotel is too far away from their entertainment building so I offered to let them stay over here until they had to leave to go practice in a couple of hours.” you finished, bracing yourself for the chewing out you were about to get.
“That’s it?” she laughed.
“Yeah.” you laughed nervously.
“You were worried about a sleepover?” she asked. “The girls are nice though, right?”
“Oh.” your eyes grew large. That’s why she was so okay with it.
“What do you mean, ‘oh?’“ you could practically hear her stick her neck out.
“I thought-” you started before she cut you off with a gasp.
“They’re boys, aren’t they?”
“Uh...here’s a hypothetical question. If they are boys, would you tell Mom?” you asked before biting the inside of your cheek.
“I wouldn’t tell Mom because of the Sister Code, however, I would totally hang it over your head until you got married or until you turn 30, whichever comes first. Hypothetically, of course.” she responded.
“Bless you, you kind soul.” you sighed in relief.
“So who’s in your apartment? Your two boyfriends?” she teased.
“I don’t know how many times I have to tell you and Mom...Chan and Changbin are not my boyfriends.” you groaned. “I have a different group in my house.”
“How many are in this group?” you could hear her shift in her bed.
“There’s only five of them.” you answered.
“So I’m going to assume that they aren’t Ateez then.” she concluded.
“You’re correct.”
“Do you think they’re cute?” she teased.
“Cute?” you repeated.
“Who is cute?” Byounggon asked as he sat down next do you on the couch.
“Who is that?” your sister gasped.
“Someone that I thought was going to bed.” you gritted as you tried to push the boy off of your couch.
“Is he the only one that’s awake?” she asked.
“Yeah.” you said.
“Is that your sister?” he asked. You nodded.
“I heard ‘unnie’...is he talking about me?” your sister asked.
“He is.” you responded. “Oh, I forgot to tell you! They thought that Stella was my daughter.” you changed the subject.
“Really?” she gasped.
“I guess I have that ‘toddler mom’ look.” you laughed.
“Hmm, I guess so. Wait a minute- You’re avoiding the question!” she realized.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. So anyways, it’s still raining here and-” you started.
“Which one do you think is cute?” she pressed.
“I’ll send you the official photos from their Instagram account and I’ll let you decide.” you deflected.
Byounggon rested his chin on your shoulder as you opened the Instagram app on your phone. “What are you doing?” he asked.
“Why does he sound closer than he did earlier?” she asked.
“I don’t know.” your voice wavered.
“Suuure. Are you sending the photos?” she asked.
“Yeah, I’m just going to send them to your DMs, I don’t want it to send the photos and the names out of order.” you responded.
“I’m waiting~” she sang.
“Here’s your monthly reminder to not quit your drawing and animation jobs to become a lounge singer.” you joked.
“Okay, Miss Stick-Figures.,” she responded.
“Okay, Mrs. Can’t-Carry-A-Note.” you retorted as you sent Aaliyah some photos. You both laughed at your dumb, half-awake roasts.
“What’s so funny?” Byounggon asked, pulling you back to lay on his chest on the couch.
“I’ve only gotten four photos of four different boys, where’s the other one?” Aaliyah asked. You sighed.
“What’s wrong?” Aaliyah and Byounggon asked at the same time in their respective native languages.
“Let me switch over to Mandarin to answer, he can kinda understand English and I don’t want him to know what I’m saying.”
“Fine.”
(in Mandarin) “The guy who’s still awake is really handsome. I’m struggling to find a photo of him without throwing my phone across the room.” you told your sister. Your sister snorted while Byounggon groaned.
“You’re so mean!” Byounggon complained.
(in Mandarin) “He says that I’m mean.” you laughed.
“Just go to the row that has his photos and choose one. I really have to see him if you think he’s cute.” she urged.
“I’ll send you the photo where he’s sitting on the platform and holding a shutter.” you quickly decided.
Byounggon took the earbud out of your left ear (your right earbud had the mic) and leaned down to your ear.
“You guys are talking about me, right?” he whispered, his bottom lip slightly brushing against your ear.
You shivered and cleared your throat loudly, making him laugh.
“What did he do?” she asked.
“Have you gotten the photo yet?” you ignored her question.
“Aw! He’s so cute!” your sister cooed. You rolled your eyes. “Bring him home for Thanksgiving this year, alright?”
“What’s ‘Thanksgiving?’“ Byounggon asked you. You turned around to look at Byounggon and gasped when you saw him wearing your earbud in his ear. You took your earbud from out of his ear and playfully slapped his arm as he laughed at you.
“He heard you.” you whispered into the microphone. Your sister’s laughter filled your ears.
“What’s he like?”
“He’s really annoying. But he’s also really sweet and hardworking and caring.” you respond. You look up at him to see if he understood you and he looked back at you with a blank stare.
“You sound like you’re dating him~” she said in a sing-song voice.
“I’m not~” you replied in the same tone.
“Is he tall?” she asked.
“He’s an inch or two taller than me.” Aaliyah lets out a pleased hum.
“Oh, Stella just came in here...she wants to see your face, is that okay?” your sister asked.
“Yeah, but just for a little while.” you agreed. “It’s almost 1:45 and I don’t think Byounggon’s is going to go to the room to sleep if I stay on the phone with you.”
You leaned up from Byounggon’s chest and stood up.
“Where are you going?” he asked, reaching for your hand.
“I’m gonna go to the kitchen for, like, three minutes to talk to my niece.” you informed him. “Stay in here, please. My voice is going to go up like five pitches and I don’t think anyone else needs to see that.”
“Okay. Tell your sister I said to have a good day.” he agreed.
“Byounggon said to have a good day.” you told your sister.
“Tell him I said thank you,” she responded. “I think he’s the only one of your boyfriends who has ever talked to me.” Aaliyah realized.
“Hmm..I guess that makes sense.” you agreed. “He’s not my boyfriend though.”
“Yeah, sure.” Aaliyah responded.
--
After the end of your phone call, you walked back into the living room to see a half-awake Byounggon stretched out on the couch you were planning to sleep on.
“Byounggon~” you said, poking his shoulder. He opened his eyes slightly to look at you.
“Hmm?” he asked.
“Go to your room and sleep~” you said in the same tone that you used earlier.
“Don’t want to.” he mumbled as he turned away from you.
“The couch isn’t good for your back, Gon.” you reasoned as you attempted to flip him over.
“It’s not good for your back either, (Y/N).” he responded. You sighed and pulled his arms so that he was sitting up.
“Gon, you’re not sleeping in here.” you asserted.
“Well I’m not moving.” he said.
“If you go to the room, I’ll tell you what my sister and I were talking about~” you bargained.
He reluctantly got up from the couch and you dragged him by his forearm to where the bedrooms were. You checked your room and saw three bodies under your sheets and tried to bite back a smile. You opened the door to the other room and tried to push him past the doorway but he stopped you by holding his arms across the doorway.
“What were you and your sister talking about?” he raised an eyebrow.
“You guys. Now go to bed.” You tried to push him into the room but his arms stayed in place.
“You spent a lot of time looking at my photo.” he smirked.
“My sister thinks that you’re handsome.” you answered. “Go to sleep, Byounggon.” you pleaded.
He leaned forward so that his face was close to yours.
“Do you think that I’m handsome?” The corners of his mouth lifted slightly.
“Yes...now go to bed!” you whisper-yelled as you pushed him into the room, having caught him off-guard with your sudden confession.
You walked into the living room and laid out on the couch, sighing as you threw your blanket over yourself.
“He’s so annoying.” you grumbled as you closed your eyes.

There were also opinions such as "Songgang really was a supporting role. She's been on the air for the first time in three years, so it seems like she's on the fast side", "Songgang, it's a completely different feeling now."
Tumblr media
On the other hand, Jung Ho-yeon, who appeared as a surrounding person in a pictorial with Kim Yuna and Park Bo-gum, was the first Korean to decorate the cover of American Vogue magazine alone.

Better: Elliot x Reader
Tumblr media
A/N: Pre-warning, abusive/unhealthy relationship. Lots of language and some sexual references.
I HAVEN’T WRITTEN ELLIOT IN SO LONG MY BB<3 (Also I’m still iffy about this one shot so critique is welcome)
"Get the hell out before I do something I’ll regret!" I screech. Elliot grabs my wrist roughly, his eyes boring angrily into mine. I try to wrench my arm out of his grip, but he's too strong. "Let go! I swear to god Elliot!"
I twist and thrash until his hold loosens enough for me to escape. I shove him hard in the direction of the door, the alcohol in our systems lengthens his reaction time and his back thumps against it and it makes an unpleasant noise.
It must have hurt. He charges towards me angrily.  "Stay the fuck away from me!" He yells. I’m shocked by the sudden raise in his volume, Elliot rarely shouts. I raise a fist but he grabs onto it and flings me onto the ground. I'm too drunk to really feel it, but the action itself hurts me emotionally. Furious tears spill down my cheeks and I let out a scream of frustration.
"I hate you!" I shriek. He freezes, glares at me, then spins on his heel and storms from the room.
 *
"Hey, hey mama said the way you move,  Gonna make you sweat, gonna make you groove, Ah, ah child the way you shake that thing, Gonna make you burn, gonna make you sting."
I smile sourly, I always loved this song, but it was poisoned by memories of him. Taking a deep swig of my straight vodka that made the bartender wince, I let myself remember him. The drunken lap dances that would inevitably lead to sex, and bathing in the afterglow. God, I miss the feel of his strong arms. I miss his olive skin and the way his stubble scratched my thighs when he neglected shaving. I miss his voice.
It's been about five years since I've seen him, so many things have changed, but not my feelings for him. No one can take his place in my heart. After the night I kicked him out, we'd had sporadic contact, tearful phone calls, opportunistic hook ups, and then... Nothing. We were so bad for each other, we drained each other in every way.
He was angry, he was vengeful. He had no time to love me, only time for revenge. He was scary, he was paranoid. He had no trust to give me.
I was angry, I was an adrenaline junkie. I couldn't slow down to love him, only to drink my next shot. I was drunk, I was depressed. I had no happiness to share with him.
But we were in love with the idea that one day we could work.
 *
“Ready, let’s roll onto something new,
Taking its toll then I’m leaving without you,
‘Cause heaven ain’t close in a place like this,
I said, oh, heaven ain’t close in a place like this,
Bring it back down, bring it back down tonight."
I smile wryly at the memories we’d shared to this song. I wonder as I sip my drink where she might be right now, and why I’m sitting in a bar that plays The fucking Killers. Knowing her, she could be absolutely anywhere doing absolutely anything. She was so unpredictable. I wonder if that messed up eighteen-year-old I'd met seven years ago had grown up at all.
It's been five years and two months since I've seen her, so many things have changed, but not my feelings for her. The times we saw each other before the complete loss of contact, we did what we did best, fucked each other mentally and physically. We were so fucking bad for each other, we bruised each other in every way.
She'll be twenty three in a few weeks, I hit twenty nine roughly two months ago. She's a real adult now, and... I'm getting old.
She could be dead, I'm surprised I'm not. I'm still hacking the human filth of the world, and she might be the only person that didn’t stab me in the back.
I wonder if she's still in love with the idea that one day, we might have worked.
 *
I'm driving through Alexandria when I get the call. I hope to god it's not my mom telling me I’ve forgotten something as I really can’t be bothered to drive back. The number isn't saved but I answer anyway.  "Hello? You’re saved in a man named Elliot Alderson’s phone as an emergency contact under the name zero, zero, one?"
I almost drop the phone in shock. 001 was the name Elliot had me saved in his phone in case any unsavoury characters got hold of the device and saw I was an emergency contact and... Yeah. I close my mouth that's dropped open, and pull over. I'm shaking and I feel sick with nerves.  "Uh, yes yes it is. Who's calling?" I reply.
"This is Debra Richmond from Lower Manhattan Hospital." She explains, my eyes are stinging, I swallow down a sob. "Not to be rude, but why are you calling me?"  "You’re the only emergency contact we could find in his phone. He’s in bad shape."
Jesus fucking Christ. It's really him. My heart is hammering so hard I'm struggling to breathe evenly.
"Is he alright? Well, obviously not he's in fucki- hospital. Sorry. What's happened?" I babble. I'd hate to know what this Debra Richmond must be thinking right now.
"He had an accident and has sustained a few broken bones and a concussion." Debra tells me. "He was very stubborn about it, insisting that he didn't need anyone to come and get him but we're very concerned that he doesn't have anyone to care for him." She explains.
God, he hasn't changed. My first thought is to refuse, I doubt he'd want to see me, but at the same time I'm worried.
He's not like other people. He doesn't have anyone to make sure he recovers properly, he has more enemies than Donald Trump.  "I'll be there, give me a few hours."  "Thank you very much Miss…?"
“Y/S/N.”
 *
I thought I felt sick in the car when they called about Elliot, but it doesn't compare with the feeling of being about to collapse as I walk through the hallways of the hospital hours later. I hadn’t even stopped home after reaching New York. I approach the reception area of the E.R., a smiley woman greets me.
"I'm here for Elliot Alderson?" I say, hating the feel of his name on my tongue.
Her face brightens even more.  "My my, he’ll be glad to see you!" She exclaims, smiling warmly at me.  "Oh, we're not, we're just, well... It's complicated." I stammer. She smirks, her eyes twinkling with mischief.  "Don't worry about labels sweetie, I'm sure he's falling over his feet for you."
I'm completely thrown.
"Does he know I'm here?"  "No, he's had a hard few days so the doctors thought it'd be best he caught up on his rest." She explains, but this only confuses me more.  "I thought you said he was admitted last night?"
She waves me off, pointing down a hallway.  "The doctors will explain everything. He's in room 101, just down the hall to the left."
I reluctantly nod, then head off in the specified direction. I rack my brains, what am I going to say? Will he even want me there once he wakes up and sees his tornado of an ex-girlfriend? I know I wouldn't.
Thanks to my brainstorming, I reach the room far sooner than I'd like. The room has no window, only a rectangular one on the door, but I can only see the end of the bed through it.
I take deep breaths, tense and un-tense my muscles, then realise none of this is doing anything for how fucking scared I feel. I want to say I've faced worse, but Elliot Alderson hurt me more than any of the other shit life threw at me.
I open the door, and see him lying on the bed, his leg elevated and wrapped in a cast.
His face is littered with bruises and his facial hair is longer than I've ever seen it, his long eyelashes still scrape the tops of his cheekbones and his skin is still a deep olive tone. He's still painfully gorgeous.
I step slowly over to him and reach out a hand to touch his shoulder, hesitating momentarily. I shake him lightly, jumping at the spark I feel when I touch him. His eyelids flutter, then drag open. He mutters unintelligibly before waking up properly, I could laugh if I weren't so nervous.
His eyes open wide when he doesn't receive a response, he looks up at me and his expression becomes unreadable. Which is pretty normal for him.
"I forgot you're still 001." He sighs.  "If it helps, you're still my 001." I practically whisper.
His eyes close and a pained smile stretches across his features.  "Christ, you're not eighteen anymore."  "I think I've aged alright." I joke.  "I can't even look at you." He murmurs.
My hand drops from his shoulder and the uncomfortable lump rises in my throat. Does he hate me that much?  "You're so beautiful." He says, I nearly choke. He stares at the wall, I shift on my feet, unsettled by the entire situation. "Y/N." He says blankly, seemingly testing out my name.
He turns his head to look at me properly, I feel so uncomfortable as his eyes travel up and down my form.  "Listen Elliot, if you don't want me here I can leave, but please don't be alone while you're this vulnerable." I reason with him, unable to hide the desperation in my voice.
"I'm shocked you care."  "I'm sorry, what?"  "You hate me."  "If I hated you, I wouldn't have driven seven hours the second they called me you massive bag of dicks."
He smiles weakly, and I see wrinkles in the corners of his eyes. He's a year off thirty but the stress of his lifestyle seems to be hitting him hard.
"Potty mouthed as ever."  "Minus the actual pot now though." I add and he actually laughs. He gestures to the seat next to his bed and I take a seat.
I suck in a breath. "I've missed you." His eyebrows raise. "Really."  "I've missed you too." He admits. I feel less stiff now it's out in the open.
"We need to get you out of here. Since your real names in the system, dick move by the way, you still have a lot of enemies, if not more." I say.
He groans.  "No such thing as a break."  "Oh there is, and you'll be on one until that leg gets better." I tell him, my tone firm.  "I guess I can't run away from you now." He deadpans. "Fuck you."
 *
It was weird at first, waking up in that little apartment again. Making Elliot breakfast, cleaning the place, helping him dress and... Bathe. But I could never have foreseen the way we simply erased the time we'd lost together. We were so much more mature, our issues pushed to the backs of our minds.
There were no screaming matches, only arguments about Elliot refusing to eat when I tried to cook him balanced meals.
There were no physical altercations, only gentle shoves and playful punches. There were no insults, only teasing comments and compliments in disguise. There was no hurt, only a love that was finally able to flourish the way it should have five years ago.
The U-turn my life had taken was crazier than any three AM adventure I'd ever embarked on. I was living in an apartment nursing the love of my life and his broken bones. I took him to physiotherapy and tried to bat off Debra's constant questions about whether or not we were together yet. Somewhere along the line I stopped sleeping on the couch and falling asleep with an inch between myself and Elliot then waking up tangled in his limbs.
And it eventually reached a point where he was no longer wearing a cast and could do everything himself. But we were in a difficult situation. Of course there were times when he allowed or initiated unnecessary physical contact and our eyes connected, the very same memories and thoughts of reviving them passing between us. Of course there were kisses when we'd been half awake in the warmth of the duvet. The love was still there, but no words were spoken about it.
 Until tonight.
We're sitting on the couch, watching trash TV on the tiny set. I glance over at Elliot, who has a small smile on his face, clearly entertained by the shitty acting. I nudge him slightly and he looks down at me curiously.  "What are we doing?" I say experimentally, not quite sure how to start the conversation that needs to be had.
"We can watch something else if you-" "That's not what I mean." I interrupt, and his features shift. I'm pretty certain he knows what I'm talking about. "You’re better. Pretty much." He still doesn't reply, just stares at me. "Are you... Are we going back to before or-"
"Y/N, this conversation doesn't need to be any more uncomfortable than it already is." He cuts in, I can't say I'm not shocked, Elliot is virtually never this straightforward.
"I can’t take you leaving again." He finishes, his voice barely reaching my ears. But I see the flicker of desperation in his eyes.
"I won’t." I say firmly, and he squeezes my hand in his cold one.  "Thank you." He whispers, staring intently at the screen. We're silent for a while, until he speaks again, still avoiding my gaze.
"I never stopped." I know why he won't finish the sentence, because he's scared. I know because I'm scared too.  "Neither did I." I guess we'll never work like other people, but we're better, and that's all that matters.

ANIMATION: VISUAL ANALYSIS TASK
-101 DALMATIANS-
One Hundred and One Dalmatians, often abbreviated as 101 Dalmatians, is a 1961 American animated adventure film produced by Walt Disney. To briefly, the story of this film is that the villainous Cruella de Vil wants to make Dalmatian fur coat by kidnapping Pongo’s puppies. When it comes to this short part of example, the story of this scene is Pongo judges other dogs with his viewpoint. Disney utilized the new technology in a way that massively cut production cost and revitalized the entire animation studio. The use of Xerox technology allowed the animators drawings to be scanned directly onto the cell-eliminating the need for hand-inking, improving efficiency, and greatly reducing production costs. Because of this new technology, compared with previous Disney works, this animation is remarkable in expressiveness and rough lines with a difference in style.
This narrative scene is naturally communicated by Pongo’s Points of view. In addition, camera movement also followed by flow of his thought. Pongo look outside through window and find a pair that suits him and Loger. Description of the passing dogs and the owners are so similar and it is witty and intriguing.
In terms of visual form, the gestures were expressed exaggeratedly and it used the composition of various angles to escape boredom. In addition, Pongo’s delicate facial expression could convey what he are thinking without listening to the dialogue. This scene, consisting of Pongo’s monologues, naturally harmonizes the voices of Pongo with the piano sound of composer Loger. The calm piano melody represents the peaceful and boring feeling of the afternoon. Compared to modern animations, the interesting part of this film is that there is no other sound effect except Pongo’s monologue, Loger’s voice, and piano melody. For example, sound effect of walking footsteps, opening door, turning hands of a clock, etc.
Not only the production of the film also signaled a change in the graphic style of Disney's animation, but also it is an adventure, a family, and a fantasy genre that everyone can enjoy from children to adults. This scene provides an opportunity to see the world from a dog’s perspective. This new points of view give new sensation to people.

LOADING . . . ↺ PLEASE WELCOME  ⇢
CASPAR SINES a TWENTY SIX year old DARNELL BROS EMPLOYEE living at 101 HANGMAN AVENUE. It’s believed she spends her time with no one in particular, but then again, these streets love to talk. Maybe send her a TEXT?
READ RESIDENT FILE ?  ➟ YES / NO
ok lowkey ive always rly loved this house in sandy shores (shitty quality pic ik rip) so im gonna go ahead and say that she grew up there.
building off the previous bullet, she grew up really poor, which wasn't entirely unheard of in the sandy shores area, thankfully.
had an older brother that used to look out for her and be overprotective, they were always extremely close.
he was involved in a lot of shady shit and ended up moving out of sandy shores and to downtown los santos for work. he still visited as often as possible. she’d always beg him to let her move in with him, but he was too afraid to get her involved in his work.
the main reason she wanted out of their childhood home so bad was due to their alcoholic, abusive mother. wesley, her brother, wanted to get her out of that, too, but felt it was safest she stay there until he could get his job under control. she never really understood what that meant, or why he couldn’t just take her in, but tried not to hold it against him.
when she was around 15 he stopped visiting. she would call and he wouldn’t answer.
cas never heard anything from him until she was old enough to move out, in which she packed up all her shit in the old 1987 volkswagon beetle and drove out to los santos to find her brother.
upon reaching los santos, she started her own little investigation, checking into the shadiest parts of the city, asking around.
she never found out what happened to him; if he’s alive or messed with the wrong person and got shot.
caspar did, however, find out that he’d done a lot of odd jobs for darnell brothers. in order to further look into his disappearance, she started working for them.
it started as just doing the jobs and asking about him to anyone she came into contact with, obviously, but in time she grew more fond of the illegal business and the money she earned doing it, so she never stopped.
onto her appearance, she had dark brown hair naturally and for most of her life, but started dying it when she was 13. its typically a dark, navy blue, as she doesn’t want to bleach it and damage it. at least, anymore. she started off bleaching it but soon learned it took way too much upkeep to continue, so went with the darker style in time.
these are all her tattoos: ( x , x , x , x , x ; i tried to stay true to the canon gta tatoos but i couldnt find the newest ones they have so i strayed slightly from that )
upon meeting caspar, many will think she is mute. she tends to avoid speaking as much as possible, but doesn’t have quite a meek personality. she has somewhat of a hard exterior, rocking the chronic bitch face. however, when actually speaking to her on the rare occasion that she actually opens her mouth and responds, she isn’t exactly mean.
speaking of, the way she typically communicates to avoid having to speak to people is through nods, shaking of her head, various facial expressions and hand gestures. it can be either amusing or frustrating.
when really getting to know her, cas can be kind in her own way. she curses often and makes stupid jokes.
she just has a hard time trusting people due to all of her past relationships ( platonic and not ) ending badly.
in a way, she’s insecure and likes to view herself as ‘evil’ or ‘bad’ to avoid the soft, pushover personality she had as a child. she often blames herself for the abuse she received, despite knowing the logical and rational explanation.
will refer to herself as a 'goblin’, 'gremlin’, 'gargoyle’, or 'ghoul’ often. expanding from this and the mention of stupid jokes before, she has an odd sense of humor.
