Ultramagnetic MCs - Funk Your Head Up (17/03/1992)

Funk Your Head Up es el segundo álbum de estudio del grupo del Bronx, Nueva York, Ultramagnetic MCs. Fue lanzado el hoy 17 de marzo de 1992 (hace 30 años) a través de Mercury Records y PolyGram Records. Muchas de las pistas fueron remezcladas por productores externos ante la insistencia de Mercury Records. El resultado fue un álbum que decepcionó a los fanáticos incondicionales del grupo y se vio reflejado en sus ventas. El único sencillo exitoso fue un remix de Beatminerz de "Poppa Large" que no se incluyó en el álbum original.

Trouser Press escribió: "Si el hip-hop solo se tratara de letras inteligentes y ritmos concretos, los UMC podrían haber estado en la cima del mundo. Pero al lado de la sociopolítica callejera de Ice Cube, el drama gangsta de Dr. Dre y el truco de choque de Geto Boys, Ultramagnetics comenzaba a sonar nostálgico".

En una revisión retrospectiva, The Quietus calificó el álbum como "defectuoso pero frecuentemente magnífico", y escribió que la producción "redefine el concepto de funk para la era del hip hop y le da a las rimas de Keith en particular".

RapReviews le dio una calificación de 9/10 mientras que Spin Alternative Record Guide le dio una baja calificación de 5/10.

Just got these bad boys in the mail. For a while, I didn't know Tascam was still around, much less have headphones. I guess when you are concentrating on being a father and putting your dreams aside, you can lose touch with some thing. Good thing there's Amazon. Good to know Tascam is still around. The first time I saw anything from Tascam was in a record store in Austell, Georgia. I met a dj/producer there who was cooking up a beat using Kwame's "Only You," Heavy D's "Girls They Love Me" Remix, Rakim's "Let The Rhythm Hit 'Em," and a saxophone sample. What happened was pure magic. I watched him create and reveled in the result for almost an hour, and nearly got in trouble for staying outside so late. But it was worth it. From that moment on, I knew I wanted in on the magic of creating hip hop beats, even though I was more focused on sharpening my lyricism then. Who knew, a moment like that would bring me here? I wonder where else it will take me. Already blown away by what I hear through them so far. *sigh* That was nice. Bacdafucup: Part II es el cuarto álbum del grupo Onyx, lanzado hoy 9 de julio de 2002 por Koch Records. El álbum fue producido por Davinci, DR Period, Havoc, Self, Ant Boogie, Co-Stars, Scott Storch. El álbum presenta apariciones de los raperos estadounidenses X1, Still Livin', Versatile, Platinum Plus, Felisa Marisol. Bacdafucup: Parte II debutó en el número 46 en el Billboard 200 de EE. UU., el número 11 en los álbumes Top R&B / Hip Hop y el número 2 en la lista de álbumes independientes principales. 

Bacdafucup: Part II es el primer álbum lanzado por Onyx después de que el grupo dejó Def Jam. Onyx regresa después de que Sticky Fingaz, Fredro Starr y Sonny Seeza se tomaron un tiempo libre para hacer álbumes en solitario y convertirse en estrellas de cine. Onyx hizo un trato con Koch Records para lanzar un álbum y volvió con la secuela de su exitoso LP Bacdafucup. Onyx se reunió para Bacdafucup: Parte II. La portada del álbum incluso hace eco de la del álbum debut, aunque solo los tres miembros restantes de Onyx aparecen en el nuevo álbum. El álbum que consta de 12 nuevas pistas e incluyó un regreso a su mayor éxito con "Slam Harder", que utiliza una muestra de la canción del programa de televisión "Welcome Back, Kotter" para presentar la canción y proporcionar melodía en todo momento. Sin embargo, "Slam Harder" está censurado en el álbum cuando el resto del LP es explícito. La canción "Feel Me" fue grabada la noche del 11 de septiembre de 2001 y dedicada a los eventos que ocurrieron ese día en los Estados Unidos.
