vere hcs? preferably for a sub reader but it's fine either way!! thx a lot :P
General Vere headcanons (Touchstarved)
GN reader - no warnings | Thanks for the ask <333 Took me more time than I planned but here it is ! (Sorry for the wait lil anon, I was quite busy this month :') Writing about him was so fun, he's just so malicious and silly ?? Hope you'll like it hehe >:)
Tumblr media
• Anything becomes a reason to tease you ! A little smile you gave him ? A blush ? Stammering even just a bit ? He will tease you to death if he can.
• He sees everything. Think you can hide something from him ? Ah, how naive of you. If something bothers you he will know, don't try to put on a mask. "Oh someone seems upset hm..." "No I'm not !" "I just said someone, why do you think you were targeted MC ? Care to explain yourself ?" he says with his devious little smile. You don't even need to speak, he reads you like an open book :').
• Not one to talk about his feelings openly but definitely makes you know when he appreciates your company ! It might be by taking you to private operas, going to fancy teahouse, gifting you little paintings he did, inviting you for shopping and more...
• Want to know how he truly feels ? Pay attention to his ears. They tell a lot more than he does, depending on how they twitch, their angle and much more... reading him becomes way easier.
• Would 100% write you letters. Casual letters where he just writes about his life, spicy letters where he describes in various ways how he would devour you... Whenever he needs to express something, he writes to you and doesn't even expect an answer ! You'll open your enveloppe and see "I can't believe Vanessa, this absolute rotten bitch, stole my silver ring ! Can you believe it MC ? I should rip her finger off with the ring and keep it so she remembers her wrong..."
• If he can get any reaction from you, it's a win. Loves to see how you'll respond to his flirty proposition, especially if you get flustered 👀
• You know this type of people who hit furnitures/stuff when they laugh ? Well Vere does it but with his tail, tell a funny joke and you can be sure you'll get hit (gently...or not) with it !
• Would be thrilled to analyze your sketchbook if you're an artist. Trying to hide it from him ? Not an option, you will show him everything ! I just know he'll sneak it to look through every pages, taking notes of striking elements and how your artstyle translates with different techniques.
→ Drawing sessions with him omg ! At first he'd joke about needing a live model and why not try nude modeling but at the end you guys end up super concentrated in your respective art piece. Definitely wouldn't mind becoming your muse tho...
↑ Adding into this but, he'd leave little notes and cute doodles when you're not looking. You just open your sketchbook and see next to your recent stuff "The lines are timid I know you can do better ;)"or "I was there..." or even "Draw me next time ! I'll be the best piece."
• The both of you together can easily become absolute menace to society. The cheer chaos you can cause is too much for this city ! If Kuras ever finds out about your malicious plans, he'll be disappointed.
• Will let you brush his hair and tail if you're good enough. "Mess with my hair and you know what awaits you !" Please convince him to try new hairstyles, make him even prettier than he already is >:)
• As much as he is an expensive fox, he'll enjoy homemade gifts. He won't show it too much but he keeps everything you've made for him at his place. Bonus point if it's decorative pieces ! (The thought of you taking time to put effort into something for him makes him smile more than he can admit).
• This man likes to cook so don't hesitate giving him recipes you like. Not sure he'll succeed preparing them but the effort is always well put ! If you're good in a kitchen, he'll find an excuse to cook/bake with you.
• Enjoys showing you around the city, especially secret places. He doesn't just share his secret spots with anyone so you can feel privileged !
→ Talking about spots he likes, he will take you to his favourite restaurants. You'd expect fancy, luxurious place but no ! Most of them are little family business owned by the same people since decades. The food is straight up heavenly and you let him know. "I've been around this city long enough to know the best places ! You shouldn't be surprised."
• Grows really protective of you. Of course he knows you can defend yourself, but if anyone dares to hurt you, they'll have to face lethal consequences. Anyone threatening you "Do you want me to break their kneecaps ? I can also hit their sciatic nerve if you wish ! Or maybe-" "Vere no."
• If you enjoy some good gossip, you're gonna be fed just right with this guy ! We know he knows everything, he's the ears of the city. Juicy drama to shocking revelation, he's got every type of story in stock ! All you gotta do is ask and the conversation will last for hours.
• If you're in his presence, forget about personal space. Your space is his now ! His body will always be in contact with yours, even if it's not noticeable at first.
• Makeover ? Yes. You will be his personal doll. If he has to test outfits, color combinations or other stuff you'll be his subject ! He'll try a lot of different clothes on you until you look like the hottest person alive (after him). Dressing you up is one of his favourite activities and of course you guys would wear matching outfits. You two are just ✨fashion✨.
• Don't know why but I feel like he would love playing board/card games, especially if they involve money ! Think you can win against him ? Nope no chance, bluffing is too easy for him and he's an absolute beast (pun intended). Just picture him playing 'loup-garou' (The werewolves of miller's hollow in english I think ? My french ass can't remember), I know he'd kill it !
• Has a very distinctive laugh. You could hear him from miles away and recognize him instantly ! Also it's kinda infectious, if he starts bursting out laughing, you'll easily follow into it.
• This man growls. Like literally. It doesn't happen a lot but whenever he does it always surprises you.
• This is him :

Heyy, i really love your matchup idea and really hope you could match me too ☺️
So about me :)
I am 22 and from Europe. I am on the curvier side and really like everything related to beauty and selfcare.
I am a vegetarian and really love to cook and bake and to try out new recipes. I am also kinda creative and love to craft some diy presents
I am a practicing witch who really is into astrology and divination but i would also love to learn more about herbology.
I love a good romantasy book as well as a nice romcom. Otherwise i am a clumsy, sarcastic and kind human being that loves animals and is obsessed with birds (especially with geese)
🤔 I match you with...
König 👑
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Possible matches: Ghost
*Goose/Goose girl
I think König would be a match for you
He met you while he was on a mission close to your area
You were helping out with an event within your community
Everyone loved your baking
Away from the crowd you saw König (without mask and wearing civilian clothes)
He was hard to miss, being so tall
You wanted to give him a cookie but figured he wanted to be alone
That's what you thought at first
But you couldn't keep your gaze away from him
König felt eyes on him and saw you looking at him
His heart jumped when he noticed your small smile
Was you smiling at him?
Was you even looking at him?
He saw you coming over
He kept telling himself to be cool, stay calm and collected
This was part of the mission: to blend in
"Hi"
Your voice drew him out of his thoughts
He felt some calm aura coming from you
Perhaps it was your eyes, or your warm smile
Or the herbal scent coming from you
"Hello..."
"I... couldn't help but notice you not getting in line so I thought I could bring my cookies to you"
You offered him one
"They're homemade"
"Oh... uhm, danke, thank you"
He tried it and felt the taste melt on his tastebuds
This was better than most food he's ever had
"That's really good"
You beamed up at him, feeling happy
"I'm glad you like it. Oh, I've gotta get back to work. It was nice to meet you"
Seeing you go made König feel anxious again
He had to see you again, even if you weren't part of the mission
However, you were taken hostage along with other random people
After what seemed like forever, a recon team came to rescue you all
One particular tall masked sniper caught your attention as he untied your restaints
"Are you alright?"
The voice sounded familiar
"Don't be afraid, I'm here to help you."
His voice was filled with urgency, but promising safety
His gloved hand reached for yours
You slowly took his hand, taking in the size difference for a second
He took you in his arms and walked like you weighed nothing
It took you a bit but you figured out who he was as you listened to his voice yelling out commands to his team
"It's you... the guy I gave one of my cookies to"
"Ja..."
König is a sweetheart
Well, he's sweet to you
He will give you all the cuddles and kisses in the world
With you he feels like he can relax
He's a teddy bear 🧸 underneath the rough exterior
You will use him as a personal body pillow at night
But he doesn't mind
You're so small and don't take up room anyway
He loves nestling his nose into your hair, breathing in your scent
Your scent just calms him down
You're so soft and warm... he could fall asleep
"Mien Liebling, you're so adorable"
"My little bird"
Will nickname you "Goose"
Along with other cute pet names
Or sometimes call you *Gans/Die Gänsemagd
If he sees some figurine or something resembling a goose, he will get it for you
Gifts is one König's love languages
I headcanon he is also a creative person
He'll absolutely love anything you make him
You can count on him to try cooking with you
He's surprisingly not bad
For dessert he'll want those cookies of yours
Because when he eats them, it takes him back to the first day you two met

fantasizing about winter,,,,,,,,,
[stuffing, tummy rubs]
Val sneezed. It was a sound Connie had grown very accustomed to over the past month or two, and it wasn't going away anytime soon. Winters were hard on her poor old demon. Demon never seemed like the right word to use--he looked like an ordinary man, and a very sweet one at that--but she wasn't sure what else to call him. He'd been born and raised in hell, his big dark eyes glinted red in the sunlight, and he had huge leathery wings that he could unfurl and hide away at will. All of these things he could hide, but the one thing he couldn't mask was his cold tolerance. His healthy body temperature was well over one hundred degrees Fahrenheit. It made him perfect to cuddle with on a chilly night, but it also meant cooler weather was absolutely miserable for him. It wasn't unusual for him to have a cold lasting from October to April, and the dead of winter was nearly incapacitating.
It was January now, and as much as Val tried to avoid the freezing outdoors, there were times when it was inevitable. It had been an exceptionally harsh winter so far. The sun seemed to have checked out for the season, and each day was cold, damp, and gloomy. Snow was piled high outside, never having a chance to melt between storms. Wind seemed to be constantly whistling through the trees, and the old house creaked as it braced itself against the strong gusts. Connie typically didn't mind the cold, but this winter was a bit much even for her. For Val, it was brutal. Even inside he remained bundled up, often keeping a blanket wrapped around himself as he moved about the house. He'd been spending this particular night curled up against the arm of the couch, sniffling and dozing off.
Ordinarily, Connie would be accompanying her shivering partner on the couch, enjoying his warmth and trying to provide some of her own, but tonight she was in the kitchen. She'd never been much of a cook; Val and his love for the kitchen had been a godsend (devilsend?) for her and Calvin. Tonight, though, she wanted to try her hand at a pot of homemade chicken noodle soup. Their leftovers from earlier that week were nearly finished, and, looking at Val sniffling away under his blanket, she decided he needed a break from cooking. A bowl of hot soup would do them all well.
Although cooking wasn't Connie's strong suit, the soup didn't prove much of a challenge. She'd followed a simple but effective recipe that a friend had given her ages ago. The result was a creamy, fragrant soup simmering away in the largest pot they owned. She covered the pot, feeling pleased with herself. The soup looked restaurant-worthy, and she hadn't even left much of a mess to clean up. As the timer ticked along, she quietly washed the cutting board and the few knives she'd used, then wiped off the counter. She peered around the doorway as she dried the cutting board. Val was fast asleep now, slumped against the arm of the couch and snoring softly. Connie glanced at the timer. It would be another ten minutes before she could shred the chicken and add the noodles.
Ten minutes had come and gone, and the soup was nearly ready. Connie sat down beside Val. She hated to wake him; he looked so sweet and cozy, and he surely could use the rest. Still, he needed to eat. Gently, she nudged his shoulder.
"Hey, sleepyhead," she said softly, brushing her fingers against his cheek. Val yawned and sleepily took her hand.
"What time is it?"
"Almost seven."
"Shoot," he mumbled. He stretched his arms above his head, and his joints crackled softly as he shifted. "I didn't mean to fall asleep." He pushed himself upright, yawning. He should have looked well-rested, but his hair was a mess, his clothes were disheveled, and the texture of the couch upholstery was imprinted on his cheek.
"Oh, your hair looks nice," giggled Connie.
"Yeah?" Val ran his hands through his hair, attempting to smooth it out. "How about now?"
"Not as cute," she teased, tousling his hair. He smiled and planted a kiss on her cheek. As he did, the timer beeped. "Think you can stay awake long enough to have some dinner?"
"Is that what that is? It smells good."
"Looks good, too. Hopefully it tastes good," said Connie.
Calvin and Mona were both staying at their friends' houses that night, leaving the two of them alone. Rather than sit at the table as they would with the whole family, they opted to eat on the couch, a blanket draped over their shoulders. The soup had come out even better than Connie hoped. She'd thrown in a few extra cans of vegetables--peas, carrots, corn, green beans--along with diced potatoes, tender shredded chicken, and far more egg noodles than the recipe called for. The broth was creamy and flavorful but not too rich, and the heat radiating from the bowls was comforting.
"You always say you can't cook, but this is great," said Val.
"Isn't it? It's Elaine's recipe."
"You definitely did it justice." Val was going through his soup much more quickly than Connie. While his cold tolerance was miserable, heat didn't bother him in the slightest. Before long, his bowl was empty and his belly was full.
"Have a little more," Connie suggested. She blew gently on her spoon. Her bowl was still half full.
"Y'know, I might," said Val. He didn't often go back for seconds, but the hot soup was a great comfort against the cold, and he wanted to show his appreciation for Connie's cooking. As he stood up, the feeling of fullness in his stomach became more apparent. He almost reconsidered the second bowl, but it was too enticing to pass up. He ladled himself another serving and returned to Connie's side. Rather than hunch over the coffee table as he did with the first bowl, he sat back against the couch this time to give his belly some space, holding the bowl in his lap.
As Val worked on his second bowl, he began to regret the decision to get seconds. He was already full, and as he ate his stomach grew tighter and more uncomfortable. He sighed and rested a hand on his rounded belly. Connie, finishing up her soup, turned to look at him. Her eyes dropped down to his bloated middle.
"Sheesh, Val, when I said 'have some more,' it was a suggestion, not an order," she chuckled. "Don't go making yourself sick over there."
"Hey, your cooking's just that good," he said, smiling at her. "I might have to quit, though. I don't think I can fit the rest of this."
"I'll say. That tummy looks like it can't take another bite." She gave his belly a firm pat. It sloshed quietly in response. Normally Val's belly was flat and a little bit soft, but after almost two big bowls of soup, it was round and solid, with little give left to it.
"Do you want the rest of this?" He offered her his bowl, which was nearly empty.
"Nah, we'll just throw it back in the pot," she said. "Nobody needs to know."
The two of them cleaned up after themselves and put the rest of the soup away. Some of it went in the freezer; the rest would easily last another week. With a soft grunt, Val dropped himself back onto the couch.
"Oof, I'm stuffed," he sighed, resting his hands on his stomach. He was wearing a heavy oversized flannel over a heavy oversized sweater, but the bump of his bulging tummy was visible even under his form-concealing outfit. Connie sat down beside him and pulled the blanket back around them both. She leaned against Val and slipped her arms around him, idly rubbing his belly. He wrapped his arm around her shoulders and they sat for a while, quiet apart from the gentle gurgles of his overstuffed stomach.
Connie was beginning to doze off, lulled into drowsiness by Val's warmth, when she suddenly felt him perk up. She looked up, covering a yawn. He looked like he was thinking.
"Hey, how's some hot chocolate sound?" he asked. Connie laughed.
"How can you possibly have any room left for hot chocolate? Your tummy feels like it's about to pop!"
"Aw, come on, there's always room for a little dessert," he grinned.
"Well, you do make some damn good hot chocolate," said Connie. "Alright, I'm on board." Val rose from the couch and disappeared into the kitchen. Connie remained on the couch. She chuckled to herself, shaking her head. Val had an irresistible sweet tooth, and nothing was going to keep him from indulging it. She wasn't about to complain, though. Nothing compared with Val's hot chocolate. Before she met him, she was never much of a hot chocolate person. Her recipe involved Swiss Miss and a microwave, and not much else. Then Val came along, and her tastes were spoiled for life. He made it on the stove, with milk and cream and real chopped chocolate and all sorts of other little additives that made for a wonderfully rich, sweet dessert. She wouldn't even classify it as a beverage; it was right up there alongside chocolate cake in her mind.
Finally Val returned from the kitchen, a mug in each hand. He delivered one to Connie, then sat down with his own. His belly sloshed softly as he did. She glanced skeptically down at his stomach.
"Are you sure you have room?"
"Sure I'm sure," he said, taking a sip of his hot chocolate. His stomach let out a gurgle of protest, but he didn't seem troubled by it. Connie raised an eyebrow at him, then turned her attention to her own mug. She didn't believe for a second that he wasn't still stuffed, but she supposed he'd at least have the sense to stop before he made himself sick. Or exploded. He had, after all, had the sense to give up on the soup.
As Val slowly enjoyed his hot chocolate, he wondered if making it had been a good idea at all. Connie was right--he didn't have room, and his stomach was reaching its limit. It couldn't stretch any further at this point, and was now just growing tighter and tighter with each swallow. In addition to that, the thick, heavy drink was a bit too rich for his already overstuffed belly. Sighing, he lowered his mug, resting it atop his leg, and placed a tentative hand on his stomach.
"Holy crap, Val," said Connie, looking down at his distended belly. "I don't want to say I told you so, but I think I can say I told you so."
"Yeah, you did," he groaned, setting his mug on the table. He looked down and was surprised to see his stomach bulging out very noticeably. "I may have overdone it a little."
"I'll say." She carefully placed her hand on his belly. It was tight as a drum.
"Worth it, though," he said, flashing a tired grin at her.

How would it be like dating Jesse (the last of us 2 / tlou2) (sfw) |
Jesse is a good boyfriend, always there for you and willing to sacrifice things if you need him.
He goes all out on date nights if he can, loves spoiling you however he can.
Whenever he goes out, patrolling brings back something for you, obviously after cleaning it up
He is very independent but loves when you cook or take care of him.
Jesse loves to cook. His mother, Robin, grew up teaching him some recipes and teaching him to cook. He cooks you meals more often than not.
He loves watching movies with you. He loves to hold you and snuggle close throughout. If it is a horror movie, that is a bonus.
The two of you might meet through a mutual friend or being paired on patrols. He is a pretty popular guy and is known about town as well as is trusted by most. If it is a modern-day setting, you might meet through the same way or maybe through work such as coworkers to one another.
He would make sure to spend time together and alone, understanding that the constant time together as a couple can be tiring.
However, Jesse can be clingy at times. Such as he prefers to sleep with your back against his body and cuddling into him.
He loves when you play and touch his hair, if you do that while laying down he might fall asleep.
More than likely, he will show you off at the dances and make sure everyone knows how lucky he is to be with you.
More than likely might adopt some animal babies such as a dogs or cats, even a mix of both.
He would go anywhere with you, even outside of Jackson. He is committed to the end of time, a polite yet humorous and trusted boyfriend overall.
Jesse is a big and little spoon, can swap between while snuggling/cuddling with you.
If it rains, he brings you out in the rain and will mess about it in it.
Jesse will cover you with kisses before he goes out onto patrol, he loves you dearly.
He will do self care days with you, learn how to make homemade masks, massage you, and more. Jesse is happy to do so.
If you get sick, stay with you despite the chance he might fall ill. He takes care of you, showers you with care and love, and then makes your favourite soup/meal.

carrot cake & coffee; knj x autistic reader; coming 12th September
Namjoon spent every day for one whole year watching you push the glass double doors to his coffee shop wide open. You’d slip inside, carefully ensure that the door was closed behind you before your cautious gaze would flicker over the other customers. If it were raining you’d carry that ridiculous neon lime green umbrella in one hand, if it were sunshine outside you’d be holding brown leopard print sunglasses after gently sliding them off your features.
The thing about you is that you’re consistent, but he guessed that’s pretty common for people like you, truthfully he didn’t know much about the spectrum until he took it upon himself one night to research it. It didn’t bother him, didn’t affect him or his opinion of you in the slightest way but he heard on the grapevine that you are mildly autistic. Namjoon didn’t treat you any differently to his other customers though, and why would he? Service with a smile no matter the case. Where a lot of guys he knew made comments about how they “could never be with someone like that” he always remained silent. You were beautiful, he could definitely be with someone like you. Granted your behaviour was a little eccentric sometimes but it was nothing he would deem as “undatable”. The very notion of someone calling you such ridiculous names pissed him off.
Namjoon liked consistency too. In fact, his favourite part of the day was when you’d show up at 1:15PM on the dot without fail. Carrot cake and coffee, that was your go to order. You’d never ventured to try anything different. A year ago he’d tried to convince you that the red velvet was also a good choice, but you simply shook your head and said “no thank you”. Maybe one day he’ll pluck up the courage to try and get to know you, maybe. He doesn’t want to freak you out or make you uncomfortable though, so for now he’ll settle for the tiny conversations about the weather and other normalities all while bagging your favourite cake and preparing your coffee.
It’s almost 1PM when his friendly apprentice Taehyung sells the final slice of carrot cake that day, waving off the elderly customer with a wide boxy grin. Shit.
“Do not tell me you just sold the slice of cake I explicitly told you to keep in the refrigerator?” Namjoon’s voice is cold, cold enough to mask the underlying fear and disappointment coursing his veins.
“Oh…” Taehyung blushes, awkwardly ruffling his shiny blonde hair, “I forgot… I’m sorry boss.”
Is Namjoon really about to run across the street to the grocery store and buy a whole premade carrot cake? Yes. Will you absolutely know the difference between the store bought cream cheese frosting and his own homemade recipe? Also yes.
But maybe this is the conversation starter he needed to get to know more about you.

Flaxseeds have been consumed for over 6,000 years. These magical seeds contain anti-inflammatory omega-3 fatty acids and other antioxidants that naturally promote hormonal balance, and improve digestion, strengthen hair and nails, and even fight cancer!
Flaxseeds are small seeds, often called Lin seeds, that are a great source of dietary fiber and other minerals like manganese and magnesium. They’re also a great source of plant-based protein.
We love adding flaxseeds to baked goods, smoothies, and even to our homemade hair gel/treatment mask (recipe is on my page). I’d recommend grinding them up (instead of eating them whole) to reap the most benefits.
Do you eat flaxseeds often? How do you use them?

Danny is for Sundays. Sleeping late. Warm bodies tangled under the cozy duvet. You wake up and make brunch together and listen to your favourite albums while you clean up. Then you shower together, washing each others hair with all the right products. After the shower it’s time for skin care. You set up the face masks while Danny puts on a rom com on the TV.
Every Soft Sunday we've had, it always turns into Danny Sunday and I'm not mad at it. He is the Sunday Kind of Love Etta James sings about.
I also like to think that Danny would be really into pampering you and setting you up for a good week ahead. You mentioned painting your toenails earlier? Say LESS, the man watched a few youtube videos and is soaking your feet as you watch the movie, glancing up at it every now and then as he rubs a sugar scrub, rinses, then lotions your foot and partway up your calf. Trims your nails and puts little cotton balls between them, and gets to work with your chosen color. The concentration is adorable, the tip of his tongue peeking from between his lips. But, as with everything the man does, he paints them to perfection before applying the top coat and moving your feet to rest on the coffee table so you can see his work and not risk smudging them on the carpet beneath.
Dinner would be something cozy like a homemade soup and sandwich, recipes that after weeks of asking, Jake finally relented and shared with him. You're both back in bed by 9:00pm sharp, after doing your nightly skin care routine. You both wind down the night quietly, talking to each other in hushed voices in the dark before one of you, usually you, drift off to sleep first.

Road to Healing
Chapter Three
---
Toni looked between the pot and his phone one last time before sighing in defeat. It took only a moment for Chris’s mom to answer.
“Toni dear! Do you need some help?” Mrs.Bristol’s face popped up, smile as warm as ever.
“Hi again Mrs. Bristol, uh...do you think you could walk me through de-boning a chicken again? I think I’ve got everything else? But I didn’t even know you could de-bone a chicken...I thought you took bones out of fish.”
Mrs. Bristol chuckled lightly.
Normally people laughing at his ignorance stung a bit but she was always so sweet that he knew she wasn’t judging him like other people. “Well, you do take bones from fish, but when you make our chicken soup recipe you also take the bones from the chicken so you can shred the meat. First you want to-” Toni set the phone down so she could watch him.
It took longer than he was sure it should have but Mrs. Bristol stayed patient the whole time. She was always gentle when he messed up. Toni was grateful for it, given how his screw ups usually got handled with his own parents.
After what felt like an eternity he had a big pile of chicken chunks and a trash can of bones. A tiny bubble of pride formed in his chest. “Thank you Mrs. Bristol, I didn’t want to bother Chris about it. I finally got him to sleep.”
“Oh yes, Chris always was the stubborn one out of everyone. We used to tuck him in so tightly he couldn’t move or else he wouldn’t let himself rest when he was younger.”
“Yeah,” Toni snorted. “I can see that happening. I’m going to finish the soup now, thank you again.”
“It’s no problem dear!”
Toni waited for a three count after hanging up to read back over the recipe. He only needed to put the chicken back in and let it simmer for another ten minutes.
Thank goodness for that.
He never realized how much work went into homemade chicken noodle soup. He’d wanted to grab canned for Chris but it was made very clear to him by a very patient Mrs. Bristol that canned soup didn’t work as well as homemade and it wasn’t as filling either.
These thoughts mulled over in his head as he waited. Eventually Toni was able to grab a bowl and some more water. Just like Chris told him to, he put on a mask before entering what he was calling “The Plague Zone”.
Chris was, not unexpectedly, attempting to pull himself out of bed.
“Hey, you told me you would stay laying down!”
Chris’s eyes were a little unfocused as he turned to Toni. His brows somehow furrowed even further. “...’s’at soup?” The raspy tone was painful to hear.
“Yeah, its chicken noodle. Lay back down.”
“You don’t know how to make soup.” Chris sounded very certain in himself.
Toni set the cup and bowl on Chris’s nightstand before pushing Chris back under the blankets as well as he could. Chris was a lot bigger than him but he was also really weak from the cold so it wasn’t like he would win at that moment.
“Now stay there,” Toni chided. “Your mom said I shouldn’t let you up or you won’t get better as fast.”
“You’ve never made soup.” Chris repeated.
Toni tried not to take that to heart. His boyfriend was obviously not taking in his surroundings properly. “No, that’s why I asked for help.” He pulled a chair up beside the bed.
For a moment Chris refused the spoon Toni offered. “Come on Chris, please. I did not spend hours on this stupid food for you to starve yourself. Open up.”
Even though he was now giving Toni the stink eye, Chris let the broth be ladled into his mouth.
Instantly his demeanor changed, muscles easing from the familiar taste and warmth. Chris opened his mouth again. He didn’t eat the whole bowl but Toni figured getting most of it was fine.
Once he wouldn’t eat anymore, Toni pulled Chris’s blankets over him better and brushed the hair from his face. His forehead was alarmingly sweaty. The heat nearly made Toni flinch.
What was it that Mrs. Bristol told him to do if Chris was too warm again? A quick scroll through the messages later and Chris had a cool damp cloth on his forehead.
He let out a little whimper when Toni lightly pressed it. Toni’s heart wrenched at the sound. Chris was usually the one taking care of him, it was so weird being the one who needed to care for the other. Though a part of him did find it nice in a way.
“...don’t feel good...” Chris rasped out.
Toni rubbed his cheek with his knuckles. “I know, but I’m here okay? I’ll make sure you get better soon.”
Chris leaned into his touch, his eyes slipping closed as tears slid free. “...please don’t leave...”
“I’m not leaving.” Toni promised. “I’m right here.”
----------
“Toni?” Toni flipped around to see Chris wrapped up in all his blankets. “Can I watch your show with you?”
He patted the cushion next to him. “As long as you don’t mind me wearing my mask around you still.”
Chris snorted, which lead to a little coughing fit. Once it subsided he bundled himself down on the couch. “...Thanks for taking care of me these past few days.”
“Of course.” Toni responded immediately.
He waited a moment before continuing. “Actually...it was really nice being able to help you for once. You’re always taking care of me and stuff and I really like being able to do the same for you when you need it.”
“You always take care of me when I need it.”
Toni tilted his head. This was the first time he had ever taken care of Chris. The other man usually made the food and designated chores and did paperwork and-
“You pull me away when I get too focused on my studies, and you plan really fun date nights, and sometimes you just make me laugh. I’m not really an emotions kind of person so you help a lot with making sure I’m happy as well as productive. You make life fun; that’s taking care of me.”
Warmth flooded Toni’s chest. “If you weren’t still sick I would kiss you a million times.”
“Maybe we can do that when I’m better?”
“I’m going to hold you to that.”
“That’s what I was hoping for.” Chris smiled at him.
