#len speaks #star wars #revenge of the sith #empire strikes back #the force awakens #not tagging more films than that bc i cant b bothered. incoming tag ramble ahead bc i have sw brainrot rn and im making it everyones prob❤️#i rlly struggled 2 remember if id watched tfa or aotc more. i went w/ tfa bc it was formative to me as a teen and ive seen it probably 6ish #times? whereas aotc was the first sw movie i remember (specifically the scene of obiwan serving c*nt in the bar lmao) but i've only seen it #for sure 4.5 and maybe 5.5 times. the .5 is from when i got bored after obi-wan's scene ended and ran off to go play in the mud or smthn 😭#i'm sure tfa will eventually get surpassed in number of rewatches by aotc and rots bc i don't fw the direction of the ST but that's my #current ballpark estimate of my total number of rewatches #as an adult tho if i just wanna watch a star war i'll go with aotc bc it's fun and ends semihappily and i can turn my brain off for the #spinny lightsabers. it's great background noise or for if you're sick or whatever. rots on the other hand? i won't talk through that unless #i'm quoting it with my brother and i am LOCKED IN 100% entirely entranced by it all #i almost picked rogue one for the best quality answer but i think the character writing is weaker and the facial cgi is creepy. esb beats #it by a hair imho bc of that. the vader hallway scene goes hard tho!!!#also i'm not covering shows or games or books or anything else in this post - simply the films. might ask abt shows later but that might #also give me hives bc so many of the shows suck ass and i don't rlly want ppl extolling the virtues of t.bb in my notes 💀#and yes i do think one's enjoyment and one's opinion of quality are two things that often overlap. but sometimes you just like something #bad and that's awesome. like rots is the best of the prequels by a large margin and i adore the opening and characters and many of the #scenes but that doesn't mean it's the best star wars has to offer ykwim? it's my specialest most favoritest sw movie but that doesn't blind #me to the dialogue lmfaooo

To anyone else that saw the movie "Nope"

Please please PLEASE tell me I wasn't the only one who noticed OJ's neurodivergence. It was something I clocked almost immediately when I first saw the movie. The way he speaks in a monotone voice and isn't really emotive, how he struggles to interact with others and is socially awkward, how he reacts "inappropriately" in certain situations, how Angel literally tells him to "read the room" when they're in the fast food place, after their encounter with Jean Jacket. Even down to how he doesn't respond or react verbally and just grunts or hums and, honestly, the list could go on. These are all things that I do as an autistic person and it was so nice to finally see these traits not painted in a negative or stigmatized light. I just loved being able to see someone who acts and behaves like me be the hero of the story and it isn't made to be a whole big thing, as is what typically happens in media that involves autism. I loved the movie, I loved OJ, and it was so refreshing to see and I neeeeeed someone else that recognized OJ's possible autism coding PLEEASE

Rewatched the 2016 Ghostbusters movie and it is legitimately so upsetting that it was such flop. I know it was discussed extensively back when it came out, but it's even more clear now that the pushback against the movie was entirely rooted in misogyny. The biggest reasons people at the time said they didn't like it was because it was "a generic action movie" and "yet another unnecessary reboot". Meanwhile disney has made BILLIONS of dollars from churning out cash-grab live-action remakes and 437 formulaic mcu action films. The sheer amount of vitriol Ghostbusters got was unquestionably because the main characters were women.

Edit: forgot to mention the whole general "women just aren't as funny as men" attitude, which was the cherry on top of the fucking cake - because many people thought that "I don't have anything against women, men are just funnier" was an acceptable and not at all misogynistic thing to say!

I don’t think The Curse of Peladon or The Mutants are the most fantastic Doctor Who episodes ever, but the ambience?? The atmosphere??? The set design and location filming???? Unmatched

hope it's okay to slide in here and add. I do think that isn't just that f is a soft ro, a lighter route, or that people don't like friends to lovers; it is also that f has such whimsical aspects to their nature. and I can see maybe that care freeness isn't for everyone, but I think where some of the infantalization comes in isn't just because F is black (though that would make it WORSE without a doubt) but because people see that as childish. And they refuse to see F as anything beyond someone who makes smart ass remarks and gets excited over paper airplanes. (Strange since some of tumblrs' rebrand personality traits is as the gay whimsy website, but that's probably where the antiblackness kicks in) F isn't mature enough in their eyes and doesn't have any real problems (that last part I definitely DO blame Sera for)

i completely agree with you – it's like all the components are there for the ideal route by people's standards, but because they see f hauville as nothing more than a kid that's tagging along ub, they're never going to give f a real shot. it's bizarre, because it's like normally, that's a lot of people's ideal routes, but since like you said, they don't think f is mature nor do they have problems (which is sooo false) they just. overlook them completely (this paragraph seems like i've said the same thing twice but i'm going to keep it anyways LMAO)

it's crazy that some see a character genuinely trying to make the best of their situation (being traumatically ripped from their home realm) by maintaining an overly positive attitude as "childish". ugh. makes me feel icky thinking about the blatantly shitty treatment of f when they have as much depth as the other three ro's

Controversial opinion but the original Despicable Me movie is almost as good as Megamind. Only the soundtrack could be better I’m not lying.
