You gazed at the reflection of a girl. She looked utterly exhausted; bags under her eyes like she hasn't slept in ages.
Her lips were tilted up in a sneer; it was evident that she was repressing the urge to scream. But instead of giving in to the voice begging her to do just that, she drove her foot through the water's surface. Not only disfiguring the reflection of the girl, but also dirtying the dress you nitpickingly chose to wear this day. At the time you felt beautiful wearing it. Proud that you chose the right clothes to fit with the dress, completing the look you wanted.
Now, you just didn't care.
You didn't feel pretty nor proud.
You choked out a sob, rubbing the back of your hand against your face harshly.
You wanted all the white noise to stop, wanted the crying to stop, wanted the searing headache to stop. Why couldn't time freeze? Then, maybe the chaos in your head would finally end.
You had tried everything you knew that normally should have worked. Out of all of the times for those methods not to work, why did it precisely choose now when it actually matters?
You followed all the steps. You even rehearsed the steps as you did them.
Step one: When you feel an episode coming, go to a quiet place with dull, even colours.
You had almost dropped your project when you felt everything becoming overwhelming, muttering an explanation to your teacher before almost booking out of the school building, to the most calming place you could recall; the park.
Step two: Once you have found a quiet place, go sit down and use your headphones to block out all of the sounds.
The headphones did not work.
Your never-ending trains of thoughts took the place of the noise and multiplied it by two.
Images that flashed before your eyes every time you closed them were too bright. You were unable to figure out the meanings behind the words your mind screamed at you.
All of it only worsened the already painful headache.
After only a moment you tore the headphones from your head.
Step three: Try even your breathing, and count to ten to ground yourself.
This was the only step that worked. You managed to calm yourself and stop your ragged breathing but it took effort. It took two attempts of counting to ten before it succeeded.
This whole fiasco petered you out mentally and physically. You just wanted this unnecessary sensory to decrease and quiet down to at least a tolerable level. But alas, the world did not want to cooperate this time.
You sighed, casting your gaze to the heavens.
The sky was beautiful this evening - painted in orange and pink - and you would have taken the time to admire it, had it been in a different situation.
After hearing a familiar yet obnoxious 'ping' coming from within your bag, you cursed under your breath. You snatched your bag from behind you crudely, zipping it open with a huff. As you turned it on, you flinched at the bright light of your screen.
One unread message from 'Mom.'
She was worried sick no doubt. You felt guilty for worrying her, and wanted to reassure her that yes, you were safe, but felt like trash and were in the middle of an episode that wouldn't stop. No matter how hard you tried, all the obnoxious and illogical sensory your brain's been picking up did not stop. Though, on the other hand, you just wanted to ignore the message and skip the whole situation of explaining everything altogether and just turn off the screen and put notifications on mute. You sent a quick 'k' to whatever she had messaged you and moved on to the mute button.
Your finger hovered above it when a notification popped up, causing you to hesitate.
One new message from 'The great Mikester dude!'
Without thinking, you pressed on the notification, staring with big eyes at the message he had sent you: Guess who and where dudette. :P
"Mikey." You gasped out, manoeuvring your head in all kinds of directions, eyes skimming all over the park, trying to find the one in question. You felt the tingling and buzzing feeling of hope and glee pool in your body, replacing the sadness and anger.
All problems were forgotten or pushed to the back of your mind.
The white noise died down suddenly when you heard a low thud and the slight rustling of leaves.
There was no other explanation; they were here...You were sure of it.
Only they could stop the chaos when everything else failed, though you didn't know how, nor the logic in it.
You guessed it had something to do with their ninja nature or something. (Even though Donnie told you multiple times that it might have been because of the aura they carried with, them, being half turtle and all that jazz had its side effects on some humans, like how a pet could soothe its owner simply by being near them. You still blamed it on them being ninjas.)
With your mind settled down, you could think clearly again.
You briefly acknowledged the fact that you most certainly were a dishevelled mess. Puffy eyes from crying, clothes covered in mud, and hair all over the place, considering that you've pulled and tangled your hair in frustration. Despite all of this, you didn't care.
You were too busy thinking of a plan to lure them - you guessed it was all of them, though it could be only Mikey - out of their hiding place.
You accidentally placed your hand on your phone, making it vibrate, and your hand shot back as if it had burned you. A few seconds after, a song piped up.  A lot of curses could be heard from the tree where the music came from, the leaves rustled like no tomorrow. Mikey fell out of said tree not long after, hitting the ground with an 'oof' followed by a groan. You stared at Mikey for a couple of seconds before doubling over in laughter as the realisation hit you:
You had accidentally called Mikey!
Well, it sure helped you find him!
You counted that as a win on your part. And it seemed that Mikey was on his own, for normally one of the brothers, cough Raph cough would have jumped out from their hiding place and scolded Mikey.
He rolled into a sitting position, giggling with you.
"Yo, dudette! Fancy seeing you here. Don't mind me dropping in," he said, peering at you with an expecting smile, seeming to wait for a reaction.
It took you a hot second or two for you to catch on, eventually groaning at the pun and face-palming yourself for your delayed comprehension. He did jazz hands and everything.
The great ninja Michelangelo just punned...
You wanted to kick yourself, you completely forgot that April had warned you about Mikey using puns. She had messaged you not too long ago about how it was a "Big" (with capital B) mistake of Casey to teach Mikey "The Art of puns." For Mikey had become obsessed with them. - Throughout the whole exchange, Casey had managed to steal April’s phone a few times and messaged you some words. Three guesses which one was Casey’s input on the matter. -
You had no clue what they meant with "mistake" throughout that whole exchange.
You appreciated a good pun.
This was not a good pun.
You could just imagine the brothers’ reactions to Mikey's newfound fixation: Raph screaming desperately for Mikey to shut up. Donnie being hella annoyed with something pressed against his (ears?) to drown Mikey out. Leo would definitely try to ignore him, probably without success, because you knew...oh, you knew Mikey would take every chance he got to make a pun.
Your heart went out for them. Needing to go through such torture was horrid, yet it was a funny sight to be completely honest. Not that you would ever tell them, heavens no.
You were not going to poke three bears with a stick - in this case, mutant turtles. You were not ready to die three separate times.
"Dude, that was so bad,” you said, making a face as if you had just been forced to smell Raph's feet. You still regret going through with that bet.
"Dude!"
Mikey frowned, throwing his hands in the air. You knew he wasn't really offended, just a bit pouty.
"It's the truth, dude," you retorted absentmindedly, casting your gaze from left to the right before it rested on your bag. Smiling slightly, you snatched it, hauling it over your back before turning back to Mikey who sat contently against the tree.
"But," you emphasised the word by pointing your index finger in the air, "you can get better,” your grin widened as you spoke.
“And I, Y/N, know how it's really done."
Mikey's pout vanished and a wide, child-like grin overtook his face. You had his full attention, as he observed you expectantly from his cross-legged position.
The long uncut grass rippled towards and caressed Mikey, the blades of green curling slightly forward and creating an image of what looked like nature sheltering Mikey from the harsh reality outside of this garden of paradise.
The green-filled branches of the tree hovered above him, leaves gliding down every now and again, covering Mikey in small dapples of shadow.
Dusk's hew engulfed the image before you in a soft purple radiance. Mikey's skin practically glowed, making him look like a forest fairy.
It was a captivating sight.
You could mistake it for a painted fairy tale that had come to life. Whoever the painter was had made sure that each tiny detail captured the magic and beauty of the image before you.
A magic-filled world coexisting in the harsh one you stood in... what you wouldn't give to cast all worries aside and join that world.
You were so lost in the moment that you almost forgot to continue.
Shaking yourself free from the enchanting sight, you carried on, albeit flustered, "a-and I could, um, teach you a thing or two. If...If you want me to, that is."
Mikey almost jumped right in your face before the words had completely left your mouth. There were practically stars in his eyes! He actually looked really adorable.
"Really!? You would!? Y/N, you are the best!!"
Mikey engulfed you into a hug, his body nearly covering your entire body from the world.
You gave a chuckle as he kept his arms circled around you, letting you sit in his lap. You didn't mind at all, feeling cosy in his arms.
"Of course I would Mikester. It would be my pleasure!"
You raised your hands to Mikey's cheeks, giving them a couple of pats before you continued.
"That way, you have a reason to end patrol earlier so we can spend more time together," and it would give the others a break from the barrage of bad puns, but you didn't voice that out loud.
Mikey seemed to agree. He didn't waste any time to establish when and where this 'class-session', as he called it, would be taking place. He wanted it to become, without a shadow of a doubt, a weekly thing, like movie night at the turtles’ place with everyone.
Mentioning movie night brought up some nasty memories of last time -the movie night itself wasn’t bad, just one of your episodes got out of hand -  and Mikey changed the subject promptly after seeing you wince slightly.
He told you about all kinds of new skateboard tricks he mastered and invented.
After a little while - when everything had been said about skateboarding - Mikey started to eagerly talk about random topics, bringing up stuff like how his training went this morning or what he encountered on patrol. Just little things to draw more time spending in this position. You kept in mind that this peaceful moment couldn't last forever, for both of you would have to separate sooner rather than later.
You needed to go home to your no doubt worried sick parents, before they would start search parties. And Mikey...had to wait till the next time you two could hang out. (Which wasn't as often as both of you desired)
You listened to his voice silently, only humming a reply whenever Mikey asked for your opinion, snuggling deeper into his embrace as you lost track of time. Drowsiness tugged at your consciousness, beckoning you to close your eyes and let sleep take over. The way Mikey held you close to him made you feel loved and safe, with you resting your head against his chest to hear his heartbeat. He rubbed soothing circles on your left shoulder with one hand, making it impossible to resist the urge to let sleep take you away to dreamland.
You vaguely heard Mikey's voice murmur in your ear, "Sweet dreams, sugar muffin..." You felt soft lips brush against your forehead before sleep took you over.
*(*)(*)*
Michelangelo stayed seated for a little while longer, looking at your sleeping form with loving eyes. If the world would have let him, he would have stayed like this forever. Alas, the moment was broken when your mobile pinged inside your bag, vibrating like crazy.
Mikey panicked. Jumping to his feet (surprisingly without stirring you) without thinking. He opened your bag in such haste he had almost dropped you trying to grab the vibrating phone before it would wake you.
He sighed in relief when the phone stopped its obnoxious buzzing after he managed to keep you from falling. He shifted you gently onto one arm to hold you delicately, yet tightly to his chest, as if he was protecting you from the world around you.
Once he made sure you were nestled comfortably in his hold,  he glanced towards the device lying in his palm. Mikey held it at an arm's length.
One question drifted inside his mind: Who in their right mind would call you this late in the evening?
It was a question where he could get an answer, but Mikey didn't want to pry into your private life without your permission.
But the curiosity gnawed at him like he would do with pizza.
He shook his head and chastised himself for goggling the device longingly. "No, bad Mikey...Be the better man, you can do this," he muttered, moving to put the phone in your bag until your phone buzzed again, displaying the number of notifications on the lit-up screen.
It made him halt in his tracks.
Mikey knew you were having a bad day today. After all, he saw you crying by the pond in the centre of the park. It was a mere coincidence, patrolling around the park at the time. He had seen you crying and decided right then and there that he would cheer you up. But he had no idea you had that kind of bad day.
There were seven unread messages and three missed calls from your mother. All of them showed how worried she was about you, asking where you were and if you had one of your sensory overstimulation episodes.
Without really thinking about it, he typed a reply to your mother: Batteries died, was with a friend. Coming home through the fire escape forgot keys.
It wasn’t a  grammatically correct message, he knew. It was the best he could do with one hand and one thick tumb.
Mikey glanced towards you with gentle eyes and a soft smile after sending the message and put your phone back in your bag.
He moved you gently, holding you with both arms again and cradling you against his chest.
You, in turn, stirred and snuggled deeper into Mikey's chest, making his heart soar.
"Time to get you home, sugar muffins..." he whispered softly, brushing a couple of stray hairs out of your face.
Mikey moved swiftly yet precisely, ensuring you did not wake or feel uncomfortable during roof-top-hopping. You needed all the rest you could get; the bags under your eyes made him even more certain of the fact.
Your home came into Mikey's field of vision far too soon. Opening the window and laying you softly onto your bed felt too fast for his taste.
Mikey took extra care to tuck you in. He even attached a little note to your bag for you to find when you would wake up.
He really wanted to stay longer, but the sound of your parents coming up the stairs told him it was time to go. He opened the door of your room slightly so your parents would know you were home. Michelangelo climbed through the window before your parents could see him.
He watched your parents turn on the light from a rooftop across your window. Your dad gave you an extra blanket before the two of them turned off the light and left your room.
Mikey stayed there on the rooftop for a little while longer before leaving, looking over his shoulder one last time and then he sprinted over the rooftops towards home.
*(*)(*)*
You found the note the next day. You smiled brightly at the words hastily scribbled on the pape. You texted Mikey a reply before you went to look out your window. Your eyes draw towards the morning sky, which was painted in a soft orange hue.
You repeated the words inside your head, making you excited for the next time you would see your turtle in orange...
Yoo, dudette! Can't wait for the pun-session upcoming Friday!
I'll pick you up at ten alright? It's a date! ;) <3

TMNT being cancelled?
Guess I’m surprised cause there’s no official word. Second... I was hoping if they were planning to “end the series” to move to a movie at least do it evenly. I mean Nick we got 26 the first season. So its only fair season 2 gets an even 26 as well.
Am I mad? Not really, cause if Big Mama was their endgame for Splinter, I’d rather not dread the worse for the boys or for that matter more stupid love drama. I’m sorry I love this version but Nick or some shows in general seem to aim for love drama and it ruins the show/or characters for me. Star was ruined with that crappy love triangle/rectangle(being rushed), (starco people don’t start, I respect you love the ship. but the writers ruined the moment for me. Hard for me to root for a couple that hurt their partners and I’ll be honest the “best friend true love” trope’s been done a MILLION times. Sometimes I like it, sometimes I’m “ughhhhh again but I liked the other dude”) Korra... was that also damn love triangle I still can not look at Mako the same. with 12k version of TMNT it was that stupid love triangle they had to put with Casey/April/Donnie. Its the only time I had quit a turtle series and was actually sick and tired of Donnie. And before a shipper gets in my face let me not I did ship him and April before this series in 2003 version I thought the idea was cute. (Was really more of a Raph/April shipper but I digress). I only shipped her and Casey in the movie version. 2003 version was kinda not interested in them(same for the animated movie version) So I as I said love drama tends to ruin a character(s) for me or the story.
What did I want for the series before it ended
I wanted to see if Raph/Casey would still have that friendship dynamic. Every version for the most part has always had their special friendship.
Casey having girls night with April and Sunita
MEET APRIL’S PARENTS XD. The show acknowledge she has them. We were told she’s know the turtles for 5 years. Actually stating that I want a meet flashback ep. Little 11 yearold April being friends with them XD her meeting Splinter. Gah I can imagine the awesomeness!
Piebald, she was only given one ep. And Mikey tends to treat everyone like family XD. So kinda wish she’d come back and be part of this colorful family.
I wanted establish if the “mutants” could be returned to normal or not. I mean I dunno this story is different from the others. Draxum’s reformed kinda wondered if they would return the ones that want to be normal back to themselves.(or at least that poor kitten Mrs. Nubbins)
I kinda wanted Huginn and Muninn back. I dunno I thought they were cute little lackeys for Draxum. Again I can see Mikey offering them a “dog bed” they wanted so badly XD.
Speaking of characters... what happened to Mayhem? you’d think for the “finale” he’d be more useful than Big Mama (nick please drop that ship8P)
We didn’t get enough interaction with Baxter Stockboy/Stockman 8B.
Tang Shen, the fact that we didn’t give her a real character makes me disappointed. As I’ve said before would have loved her to come back, as either an old flame(whether just bitter ex, or the “one that got away), old co-worker, or one of the few people that knew about Yoshi’s calling. Seeing Yoshi’s grandfather made me imagine “what if she saw them have a fight... what if she tries to get him to talk to his grandfather.” or she chastized him for being selfish.
I wanted Bishop again and this time I want him as a villain. 2012′s version made me annoyed they wasted a good opportunity for a shady government character for a “oh yayz its another good guy”. You want another scary villain, in my opinion Bishop would be a good one.
Drop the Big Mama/Splinter thing. Seriously drop it, Big Mama has no real character (as a love interest). And I’ve seen couples were they dual with good & evil or whatever or maybe a better ref would be the “bad girl/boy”.Best example of that ship is Goldie/Scrooge, Batman with Catwoman/or Talia Al Ghul, Spiderman/Black Cat, Brock/ Moltov Cocktease (Venture Bros), to a degree Buffy/Angle/Spike(only 90s people know this ref), Lupin/Fujikio (though both are bad in some moral way) & Bulma/Vegeta, even 90s Xena and Gabrielle fell for a baddie now & then that got reformed for them. As a character Mama’s done nothing to prove to me she really loves Yoshi or his kids, the show knows she doesn’t care so her last scene doesn’t prove it to me. As a villain awesome. But is she Catwoman/or even a Goldie(Ducktales ref) nope. Archer’s more redeemable than her and he’s a selfish moron. (dont take that too personal I love that show but just admitting what he is). Don’t hate me shippers and yes I know I’ve said it more than once XD. But as I said some tropes work for me... and some don’t. This was one of them
We didn’t get Usagi crossover. (maybe if the movie proceedes they’ll do it for that) but we gotta have one 8B
Characters from the series I wanted either cameo or given more of a role Leatherhead, Klunk, & Jhanna. Would say whats her name Renet and the dino aliens but they’ve been done two times already, so while I’d like them as easter eggs or whatever kinda not gonna miss them.
More of Hamato Yoshi’s family, can’t really believe that Yoshi, his mother and grandfather were all that were left. Comic wise Hamato Yoshi does have a possible niece? So I dunno maybe they could give him a distant cousin.
Lastly tell us who Big Mama’s assistant was .We never got their name or who they are.... WHO WERE THEY?!!

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES #48-49 JUNE - JULY 1992 BY KEVIN EASTMAN, PETER LAIRD, JIM LAWSON, KEITH AIKEN AND ERIC TALBOT
Tumblr media
SYNOPSIS (FROM TURTLEPEDIA)
The TMNT are preparing to go on a mission in the city of Springfield, Massachusetts. Donatello bows out of the exercise so he can debug his latest project, and thus Splinter sends the three remaining Turtles to the city. Their goal: find Casey Jones and return to Northampton before 1 AM. April drives the guys to town and drops them off - if they can't find Casey and get him to take them back home, they'll have to walk... all 20 miles.
Raph comes up with a plan - "an immobile object is easier to find than a mobile one," thus the TMNT decide to find Casey's car so they won't risk missing him. After all, Casey can't get back to town without his wheels. So the Mutants head off to find Jones' Chevy.
Meanwhile, Casey is spying on the guys and heads off in the opposite direction. He enters a playground where he's accosted by three young punks, who insist he pay a toll. A fight breaks out and Jones accidentally kills one of the boys.
Tumblr media
From the rooftops, we see the costumed clad vigilante Nobody (from Tales of the TMNT #2). Nobody, although being an ally of the Turtles, doesn't know who Casey is, and attacks Jones for committing the crime of homicide. A battle takes place, and Nobody tries to handcuff Casey and take him in.
The Turtles spot the two remaining hoods fleeing and figure that the boys must have run into Casey, so they double back. The TMNT arrive in time to prevent Nobody from taking Jones to the police, but the crime fighter is angered by the situation.
"You realize this makes you accomplishes." the costumed cop states.
"Casey will answer for whatever he is guilty of. Justice will be served." Raph replies.
As the Turtles and their shaken friend depart, Nobody mutters, "Yes... I'll see to that."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
April is talking to her sister Robyn on the phone. April is worried about starting a relationship with a man who helped her out of a jam, and Robyn is trying to figure out why her sister has been so mysterious about her life the past few years. Before any resolution is reached, Robyn has to hang up to attend to her baby. As April puts the receiver down, Master Splinter walks into the kitchen. O'Neil explains her dilemma to the wise old rat.
"Ever since I met you and the Turtles... and Casey... my life has been so secretive and strange. I mean... how can I get to know this guy - or any guy - if I can't let him get to know me? 'Cause getting to know me means learning about you guys... and that... geez! Sometimes I just wish I had a normal life. Splinter... what should I do?"
The Sensei thinks for a moment and then responds, "Leave."
This was not the comforting solution that April was hoping to hear.
Tumblr media
Casey wakes up and quickly remembers what happened the night before. He hurries to the bathroom and retches. April walks by and calls out to see if he needs help and Casey orders her away. The bemused O'Neil dejectedly walks off.
Casey gets dressed and has an awkward silent moment with April in the kitchen before he takes off running into the woods. As he burns off his energy, Jones laments all of the "if only" scenarios that would have kept him from killing the young thug in the playground. Eventually Casey comes to a waterfall that has a fallen tree spanning the ravine, creating a bridge to the other side of the river. Donatello is sitting on the tree observing the stream in attempt to "understand the fractal structure of natural patterns," an element of Chaos Theory that Donnie is excited about.
Don's explanation irritates Jones and he blasts the Turtle for using big words and acting better than everybody else. Casey than demands to know why Donatello hasn't spent any time with him.
"Well" the perplexed terrapin begins, "We don't exactly share a lot of interests..."
This reply only angers Jones more and Don asks him if they can take up this conversation at a later time, when Casey is sober. Jones pushes the issue and gets more and more agitated and threatening until Donatello is forced to draw his bo and teach Casey a lesson in manners and humility. In short order, Donnie sends Casey careening into the water waiting below. Perhaps Jones also learned a thing or two about fractals while he was in the drink.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Raph, Leo and Mike are training in the barn while the news plays on a radio in the background. Leo beats Raph in two out of three falls when a report comes on regarding gang-related slayings in New York City between warring Asian factions. Upon hearing this story, Raph walks out of the practice session.
Later, Casey is back at the playground where he accidentally killed the teen. The man called Nobody shows up, only this time he's wearing his police uniform rather than his super-hero costume. Nobody tells Jones that the three other hoods turned themselves in and their story matched Casey's, thus making it apparent that Jones was acting in self-defense.
"You sound disappointed." Jones remarks.
"Do I?" the vigilante cop inquires, "Well... I do prefer an open and shut case, and you seem guilty as Hell. But... facts are facts. As much as I live to bring criminals to justice, I have to face those facts. Besides... the courts are full of poor jerks like you, ingested and spat back out, guilty or innocent, it doesn't matter."
"Wow," observes Casey, "At least you're not bitter."
Nobody then relates his philosophy to Casey about the state of the world, a Yin-Yang theory that revolves around the idea that the further man advances, the more he regresses. The policeman then wonders how much longer the fabric of society can be stretched before it tears.
Casey states that he doesn't know, and Nobody then says that when he first met the TMNT he felt that they were an omen.
"I thought that it might be a sign... a sign that the end was near... you know, 'The Beasts Rising Up', that sort of thing." the cop states.
"Uh... yeah." Jones answers, "Look... I gotta go..."
"I won't stop you." replies Nobody.
Casey then heads off in silence towards downtown Springfield.

REVIEW
This is a good TMNT story, and it is written by their creators as well.
It’s been a while since we focused on Casey Jones and April (most guest writers used them as plot generators but didn’t invest much time in making them real).
And this was bound to happen, in fact, I would have assumed that something like this already happened to Casey, after all, his methods are quite aggressive.
Nobody came back for this story (to be honest, I didn’t really miss him), and we also got to know Robyn O’Neil.
The story seems to be pointing at a certain climax (the volume is getting into a final 12-issue saga). Between the gangs in New York, Splinter’s moods and April’s needs, something has to happen.
The art is also very good. Sometimes Jim Lawson can be a bit too angular, but the backgrounds look amazing.
I give this story a score of 9.

One Man Conversations
Have some Casey angst, cuz why not? :P
(Edit: This was during Season 2, The Invasion, when Casey went to go find his family. Just in case you guys get confused. XP)
_____________________________________
Chaos ensued outside the doors of the Party Wagon.
Leo lay still on its floor, undisturbed and unconscious. Bruises and scars were all over his green, scaly skin. A long crack ran across his plastron under the straps, which were miraculously saved. A women's muffled scream filtered through the doors of the vehicle.
Yet he remained unmoved.
The door to the drivers side of the front opened, and Casey Jones climbed into the seat as fast as he could, ducking his head not a moment too late as a few Kraang droids passed the window. He watched them silently, waiting even after they disappeared around the corner for a few moments before making the slightest movement. Casey sighed in relief as he straightened back up against the seat, and his face grew solemn. He sat there for a moment, lost in thought, staring blankly at the wheel in front of him. The Party Wagon muffled any outside noise, so he at least got some sort of quiet that allowed him to think. His eyes slowly rose to the front mirror, which showed Leo's form laying in the back. They filled with sympathy, and he let out another sigh.
“Well,” He said to no one with a wry smile, reaching for the seatbelt. “My dad and sister isn't in the house, so I guess saving them was a bust.” He turned the key to turn on the van, turning out of the alleyway he had hidden it in. “Might have been caught up in all this chaos. Best case scenario, they were able to escape and find somewhere safe to hide.” He lost his smile. “... Though I doubt it.”
For a while the drive to their designated meeting spot was quiet. But Casey hated the quiet, it made his thoughts sound too loud, and he couldn't stand it for much longer. He decided to pretend that Leo wasn't unconscious, that he wasn't covered in bruises and talked to him casually, as if having a conversation with himself was completely normal.
“Your brothers are lucky though. They always get out of sticky situations. All four of you do.” Casey swerved around a fallen car that lay on its side in the street. “Sometimes I envy that. But I'll get there one day. And when I do, I'll make sure my family is extra protected. Maybe I'll be better than all of you.” He chuckled snarkily.
He paused, as if waiting for an answer. Waiting for any indication that Leo would respond with a casual quip back. The only thing he got was the slightest groan that escaped his lips when the Party Wagon drove over some rubble and jostled him slightly. Nothing else followed afterwards.
Casey finally dropped his act, looking down at the road and slumping his shoulders. “Ah, who am I kidding. That won't happen. Even if you did get the snot kicked out of you, you still look rockin’.” He looked up at the mirror again. “If I'm being totally honest, you're really not as bad as Raph says you are. He acts like everything you do is the end of the world, but you know, he tends to overreact alot. It's what he does. You try to do what's best for your family, like I do for mine, and I respect that.” Casey smirked. “Though I would never admit that to your face if you were awake. You know, pride and dignity and all that stuff. Plus, we don't talk to each other much, so… It'd be sort of strange.” He looked back at the road as he turned a corner. “Can't help but wonder though… What you think of me.”
The ground rumbled suddenly, forcing Casey to hit the brakes and the Party Wagon skidding a few inches. He looked to his left quickly to see where the disturbance had come from, and noticed the silhouettes of his friends standing huddled together, watching something large, pink, and slimy wriggle out of a bigger machine.
Casey's eyes widened when it clicked. “Kraang Prime.” He muttered.
He scowled after a second, then slammed the gas and kept the steering wheel gripped tightly in his hands to keep it straight. He flipped on his helmet, determination in his eyes as he sped up faster.
“Hold on, Leo!” He shouted, eyes kept on the unsuspecting alien brain target. “This might get a little bit bumpy!” He braced himself, grinning from ear to ear as the vehicle drove into the side of the large alien, and as soon as he made contact, he shouted, “This is soo metall!!!”
Kraang Prime flew a few feet away, and the Party Wagon landed not so gracefully back on the street a few inches from April and the Turtles.
Casey rolled down the window, mentally marveling at the surprise on all of their faces as he said, “You guys need a lift?”
“Casey!” April cried in relief as the turtles ran up to the side door.
“Hey, Red.” Casey replied, winking at her with a sly grin.
She climbed into the passenger seat next to him, ignoring his antics. Once Mikey, Raph, and Donnie were all settled, he drove off, leaving behind the Kraang and the city.
“Geeze, Casey, you could've been more careful.” Raphael grumbled. “You could've injured Leo.”
“But I didn't.” Casey responded proudly, to which Donnie sighed at. “I saved your butts, why can't I ever get a simple thanks?”
No one gave him an answer. He looked back to scold them, and he then realized why. It had grown solemn, the look on the brother's faces as they looked down at Leo was more than enough to tell Casey that now was not the time for jokes. He looked back at the road, falling silent as well.
“I'm sorry Leo..” He heard Donnie mutter. “You were right. If we would have left the city like you said, the Kraang would never have found the lair and started the invasion.” There was a pause. “None of this would've happened...”
He glanced over at April as she spoke up. “I have a place where we can go upstate. My old family home. We used to go there every summer. We can stay there for as long as we want, no one is around there for miles.”
Casey flipped up his mask, showing a smile in an attempt to lighten the mood. “Upstate, huh?” He said. “Sounds good to Casey Jones.”
April didn't smile back. “And what about your dad and little sister. Did you find them?”
His smile fell, and he looked back at the road. So much for cheering people up. “No sign of them. They probably got.. Kraangitized.”
He felt her head lay against his shoulder, and he didn't say much else afterwards.
“What's gonna happen now, Raph?” Mikey asked, almost hesitantly.
“For the first time in my life,” Raph responded. “I have no idea, little brother.”
The highway sign passed over their heads, like a final sign that told them they were actually leaving the only home they ever knew.
“I miss Master Splinter..” Mikey muttered.
Casey missed his family.

——————————————————————————————-
-Ok, the chapter starting off with April’s day post ghost intervention? Yessh, talk about a rough… I did feel super bad for her when she talked about the bad events that happened throughout her day. Been there, done that girlfriend.
-Oh boy… The part where she accidentally left her homework and laptop at Donnie’s lab? Worst. Nightmare. Ever.
-Although, I did wonder why the heck Kirby sent angry text and missed calls when he knew she was staying at the lair. But then I remembered that since he’s been super antsy and anxious lately, so I guess it makes sense.
-April worrying about Donnie from the night before: UGH protective April is my spirit animal right now!
-Casey’s entrance with all them bruises: can you say ‘typical teenage hockey boy’?
-Casey bringing in alcohol to school… and then agrees to go to the library with April… Boi… I honest to goodness don’t know what to think anymore XD
-“’And then express-date. With ‘Moose’.” He wiggled the backpack again, the liquid contents sloshing quietly. April crossed her arms, and said squarely, ‘No Moose’.” – HAHAAAA yes! OMG I love how she keeps that lovable train wreck in line!
-That part where a piece of eraser got shot into her mouth made me shudder. Literally. That’s so gross.
-Confession.. Since reading this chapter, I actually used Casey’s “What’s your beef” comment… I learned my lesson afterwards. Never using that kind of comment in the heat of a discussion ever again.
-Damn Casey! That comment about April having to chose between normal life vs. kunoichi/psychic life? Low blow bro.
-Actually, I want to elaborate on that last point. So about April choosing between two totally different lives. Who the heck says she has to choose? Can’t she do what she said to Karai in chapter 2 and write out the chapters of her life on her own? Granted, she is only 17 and isn’t technically a legal, autonomous, adult in American laws yet, but still! Why force it? And for Casey to give her an ultimatum like that? Dude, if it was the other way around, I’m sure Casey would feel the same way that April’s feeling at the moment. Not cool. Though he is hurting, that was super uncalled for.
-OOOooooo…. That moment between April and Master Splinter nearly brought me to tears. I am super close to both of my parents and to see this side of Splinter was so sweet and touching. I love how, out of the very few adults present in her life, Splinter seems to be the only constant in her life. He may not be perfect and she does have her dad whom she loves, but I adore how Master Splinter tries to show her that he’ll be her sounding board when she’s ready. And if there’s one thing that April definitely needs in her life at this moment, it’s that.
-“You are Hamato. Whatever happens, know you can always count on your family’ - Oh my heaaaaaaaart!! SO! MANY! FEELS!
-“Michael, put that down!” – Pfft lol love that easter egg you guys threw in there!
-Ouch. Poor April. Getting dropping a showerhead and getting sprayed is no laughing matter. I’m a klutz by nature so I know the feeling.
-Oooooh April finding out about her laptop and then Donnie trying to make her feel better? Cuuuuuuuute!
-April hugging Donnie because of her gilt… I might as well just stop reading/reviewing just so I could read this section over and over again ‘cuz it makes me so happy. So sweet!
-OHMAGAWD then her smooshing her nose against his plastron bit nearly put me in a fangirl coma!
-I love how you guys made Mikey go from jokester bro to ‘no one messes with my unbiological sister’ to ‘lemme feed you’ mode in seconds. It just fits him no matter what TV series or fanfiction story he may be in.
-Sassy Donnie correcting April gives me life. Just saying.
-“It is too much. I mean, two years ago I was just April, just your regular high-school nobody, and all of a sudden I’m this… Kraang McGuffin with superpowers who’s also a ninja wannabe. And I don’t know which version of me I like least, to be honest.” Ok… Let me stop there for a sec. First off, BRA-VO! That part right there, that’s me every freaking day. No joke, the first time I read this part, I swear I had to read it nearly four extra times because I was like, “I feel like I’m reading my own mind being played out on fanfiction… Weird”. Here’s the thing though, this is why I love April in this story. She’s playing multiple parts, working hard, and doing all of this to the point of it being unbearable, almost debilitating. And I get that. What saddens me a bit about this is that when she continues on to loosely explain herself to Donnie, it seems that she feels that she’s alone in the midst of it all. Which isn’t true, and I do hope that she both realizes it and that she’d heed Splinters advice about remembering that she can count on her family. No matter what. Ugh… such good stuff… Ok, back to the rest of the review!
-[Slow yet meaningful clapping] Thank you Donnie! Way to get that girl back to her right mind by telling her she can’t give up. Yes yes yes!!
-GAH I’m a puddle now… The part where Donnie allows her to look in his mind? And her response? The hand squeeze? Her admiring his hands??? My shipper heart is swelling big time. Bias I may be, these two will be the death of me and I’m ok with that TwT
-Lets be real though, Michelangelo secretly shipping Apritello is just stinking adorable. Like, adorable enough that it could melt both cold hearts and icecaps in my humble opinion.
-No no no no no no no no Raph… I get that you’re just trying to look out for your bro and BFF but… Nooooooo…
**Ok… That chapter had me in all different direction: sad for April, disgruntled about Casey, happy sobbing about Sensei’s words, giddy about Donnie and April lil moment, and peeved that Raph might do what I think he’s going to do… SO GOOD! Great chapter, great interactions, great everything! Nicely done and keep up the fantastic work! I should have the next few review’s up soon!

TMNT #23-32 AUGUST 2005 - MAY 2014 BY PETER LAIRD, JIM LAWSON, ERIC TALBOT AND STEVE LAVIGNE
Tumblr media
SYNOPSIS + REVIEW
As a result of Laird selling the property to Viacom, there was an agreement to be able to self-publish 18 books a year about the Turtles. This, as far as I know, was hardly used, but it is a legal option. This is how we were able to get issue #32. Even though, technically, was also offered for free on Peter’s blog.
In any case, the story doesn’t have an ending, and the last episode published feels a little rushed in at least one aspect.
Tumblr media
Let’s start with April, Shadow and Casey. April leaves New York to find herself after discovering her true origins. Casey went back into a self-indulgent road of getting drunk. During one of these episodes, he helps take down a Xihad extremist with the help of the Fugitoid and the Utroms. He is later nursed by Karai, who entertains the idea that they may have had sex (just in time, as April is coming back to New York).

Shadow on the other hand, going back to the farm, finds her “almost-boyfriend” with a group of extremists and she is later attacked by a small robot (soon to become the next big thing in toys). She is rescued by Metalhead.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
With the help of Donatello, they track the Xihad cell and they manage to put them all into custody.
Speaking of Donatello, he is still small and walking inside a robot (which is still much better than being a cyborg).
Tumblr media
Leonardo, still looking for some information about those crazy genderless soldiers, finds clues in some of Master Splinter’s rolls. Including how to open a gate into something called “Battle Nexus”, once there, he runs into basically, a 2003-Shredder-Looking person, who is actually named Oroku Yoshi. Apparently comes from a different reality. There he learns who these soldiers are. Word is spread that Leonardo is in the battle nexus and one Splinter asks for him to meet him (more on that later).

Michelangelo is rescued by Triceratons after escaping jail and is sent to a trial where he explains how a Triceraton diplomat died in that jail. They decide to go to war with that planet and Mikey, drinking the hate cool-aid, wants to help them kick butt. Of course, we are talking about genocide, which makes Mikey a bit uncomfortable, but not as much as he should.
Tumblr media
He also learns that there is a faction of the Utroms that is not as pacifist as they say they are, and the Fugitoid also seems to be in that same category. Of course, this could be Triceraton propaganda, but the Utrom’s attitude on Earth (at least that secret society that we have seen in Tales) seems to make these statements true.

Raphael does almost nothing in these issues, apart from finding and capturing those vampire dudes that gave him the virus that mutated him. After hearing that Michelangelo disappeared from the face of the Earth, he decides to go to the lair and ask Donnie to help him find him. But once he gets there, he finds Donatello’s secret room, where he has a mindless clone of Splinter.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Somehow, the rage makes him go back to normal and shake the vampire virus (that was easy!). I don’t buy this theory. Are you telling me Raphael didn’t get furious even once since he transformed? I know he was getting a little zen lately, so I will let that one go.
Donatello eventually explains that he took a sample of Splinter to check if he was poisoned. But the reason he did the clone was to find a way to help Raph with his mutation, as he didn’t have access to another being that had been mutated with the same material (at the same time, he also admits he has DNA copies of them from years ago, so I am not sure this one works). The thing is, while checking on those DNA’s, he discovered that the Splinter that died and they buried... wasn’t the original Splinter!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And this is the end. For now.
I am not sure if we will ever get issue #33, but I am hoping this happens eventually as Laird said this whole series could be resolved in a couple of issues, so technically, we are almost there.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I noticed a difference between the physical and digital versions of issue #32 that seems to make sense with what Laird said in the introduction. It looks like he lost his grip on the software he was using. But when you look at the digital copy on his blog, these glitches are not there, so I am not sure what happened.
My guess here is that Raphael was Laird’s least favorite turtle. He barely did anything in this run, but to be honest, he is usually the MVP of all the runs, so it was nice for a change. Another guess would be that this volume should have 35 issues (so that he can close each Turtle’s plots). And also close the Utrom invasion situation. It’s been a while now since the last issue was published. I understand the latest that was known was that it was going to be 36 issues, but Laird is pretty much done with volume 4 (as of 2017).
I like how all the Turtles kept remembering Splinter in almost every issue, thinking about what he taught them and what he would do.
Jim Lawson later, released a pin-up that would have been part of the last episode of Volume 4. Apparently as a “what if”.
Tumblr media
Will they Turtles ever have a happy ending? Technically, they could be cloned!
I give these issues a score of 9.
