“Quit joking around or you’re not going anywhere,” Leon grunts as he continues to mess around with the tire pressure on the rear wheel of his motorcycle.
“I’m just saying-” you chime before being cut off.
“You’re saying nothing more or I’m changing my mind,” he says and gives you a warning look.
Despite his attempt at being stern with you, affection clouds his eyes. You play along for him and mime zipping your lips. With a sharp exhale and shake of his head at your antics, he returns his focus to fidgeting with the pressure gauge hooked to his bike. But you’re happy just because you saw him smile.
You’d been begging him for months to take you for a ride on his bike. Every time you’d asked, you were met with “no” or “in your dreams.” You’d always ask him why, and he’d just brush it off. Too dangerous. It’s something he does alone. You eventually just gave up. He deserved his space, and you knew he’d seen so much pain and death in his life that he was probably a little overprotective by nature. It came as an absolute shock to you when he approached you last week and asked if you’d wanna go for a ride this weekend. He’d said it so casually, like he hadn’t shot you down time after time before. You weren’t sure what had changed, but a win is a win, right?
Now sitting on the stool by the bench where he kept all his motorcycle stuff, you swing your feet back and forth. As much as you’d been teasing him for the last thirty minutes about taking forever and a half, it was fun seeing him so locked in on his task. You studied his face, the way his brows furrowed and his eyes hardened, his lips curling a little with dedication.
“Hey stalker girl, instead of staring me down, maybe you should finish getting ready,” he teases as he finishes up and starts putting the tools away.
“I am ready,” you say.
“No you’re not. Where’s your helmet?” he asks while walking to you.
“Mmmm… you don’t wear a helmet,” you playfully point out.
You were just being difficult because he was so easy to mess with. You weren’t dumb, and you had no desire for your brains to splatter across some pavement. In general, motorcycles kind of scare you to be honest. If anyone but Leon was driving it, you wouldn’t even consider hopping on the back. So there was absolutely no way you were gonna get on that thing without a helmet strapped on.
“I didn’t ask you if I wear one. Where’s yours?” he says.
He stands between your thighs and looks down at you, taking in your pretty eyes, pouty lips, the face he couldn’t get enough of. His fingers run along your jaw, his thumb stroking over your chin. Every detail had him enraptured. He made fun of you for staring, but truth be told, he was just as guilty. The only difference was he hid it much better than you did.
“I’ll get it in two seconds. You were just taking so long, I figured I had some time to relax,” you joke with a quick peck to his lips, hopping off your seat.
“You better get it. I want your pretty little head kept in one piece,” he murmurs and lays a kiss on your hairline. He lightly swats your ass as you walk away, drawing that laugh from you that he loved to hear. He’s smiling while grabbing the keys, not that you could see it with your back to him. You were easy to mess with too.
“I just don’t think it’s fair that I have to wear one if you don’t,” you say as you lift the helmet up and inspect the one he’d bought for you.
“Too bad. I know what I’m doing. You don’t. God forbid I actually let you do this, and you end up with a concussion or something,” he grumbles while grabbing the keys.
“If we get in a crash though, your experience won’t matter. We’ll both go flying all the same. Then you’ll be the one with the concussion or worse, and I’ll be flat outta luck having to take care of you,” you explain while fidgeting with the straps on the helmet.
“Here, gimme that,” he says, taking it from you. He fixes the straps and gets them where they should be. Yeah, you’re being intentionally stubborn, but you had a good point and he knew it. “If it’s so important to you, I can wear one too.”
“It is important to me. I always want you safe,” you say, taking a moment to be genuine between all your teasing.
“I know, baby,” he says softly. It’s all he could say. Obviously, with the life he had, he couldn’t “be safe” all the time. But god, you made him want to try.
He gives you one last kiss before putting the helmet on you. He fastens it into place, making sure it’s nice and tight. Tilting your head around, he inspects it thoroughly. Has to be certain this shell of hard plastic is gonna do its job and protect his precious girl.
After he’s done examining the efficacy of the helmet, he pulls back to give you a once over. Really look at you.
“Does it look good?” you ask, voice slightly muffled.
He chuckles and nods. “Yeah, it looks good. Pretty cool,” he confirms.
Of course you looked more than good. The sight of you completely melted his heart. He just didn’t know how to say it. He’d never been too good with words when you were involved. You made everything foggy, hard to think.
He couldn’t see the grin on your face right now, but he could just about feel the excitement radiating off of you as you pulled him into a hug, the shiny dome covering your head resting over his heartbeat. His palm runs up and down your back before you pull away and head to the motorcycle.
“Are we ready to go?” you ask.
He could hear the anticipation in your voice too. It was infectious, made him want to get on and speed off without looking back. But he still had a little hesitation left. Rationally, he knew he’d done everything he could to make sure this would go smoothly. In all likelihood, you would just have some fun and then come back home and everything would be fine. The irrational part of him just wanted that to be 100% guaranteed. He’d lost so many people. He couldn’t survive losing you, especially to something as trivial as a motorcycle accident.
But he was stalling now, and he knew it. You deserved this. Deserved to have the fun he’d offered you. You’d been so good to him for the last several months, putting up with him when it would’ve been reasonable to leave him in your rearview mirror. He swallows his doubt and nods.
But as he sees you start to look at it like you’re gonna get on, he stops you.
“Wait a second,” he says, starting to shrug off his jacket, “It’s cold out, and with the wind and everything. Just put this on.”
He can’t see how you lovingly roll your eyes at this which is probably for the best anyways. Knowing him, he’d probably get all huffy and defensive about it. Argue the practicality of his decision rather than just admitting he’d gone soft for you.
Regardless, you let him wrap the leather around you, sliding your arms into the sleeves. You give him a thumbs up, and he pulls you close to him, thoughtlessly planting a smooch on the cool helmet like he’d normally do to your head.
“You better hold on tight. This isn’t a video game. You don’t get extra points for riding with no hands,” he teases before grabbing the extra helmet he had and putting it on.
This time you give a mock salute and watch him swing his leg over the seat. He waves you over and you gladly get on behind him. The warmth of your front presses against his back. He looks down, admiring the way your hands lock around his waist, your arms adorned in the white stripes of his jacket.
He wheels the bike out of the garage, taking a deep breath as checks to see that the street is clear. One more sigh and mental reassurance later, he’s speeding out onto the road. He knows it’s all worth it as soon as he hears your laughter and feels you clinging to him even harder.

Tattoos II
Mapi Leon x Ingrid Engen x Child!Reader
Summary: Mamí has pens now
Tumblr media
You break into the box of Mamí's skin pens that night.
It was very fun to draw all over her arms like how she was drawing over Tia Alexia's. The little pictures on her arms are very fun and Mamí's even got your name written there too because she loves you so much.
Mamí always says that you're a little artist because all of your artwork gets hung up on the fridge at home. When you draw, Mamí says that it's abstract because you always tell her that you like to draw your feelings and Mamí says that's a very good habit to have for an artist.
You think Mamí's an artist too but a different kind of artist to you. She does art on people's bodies instead of on a canvas. It must be fun for her, you think, which is why you're pressing the pen to your own skin to see if it's fun for you too.
Mamí is outside the hotel room talking to Tia Patri and Pina while Mumma is in the bathroom, on an adult call with her parents.
That gives you enough time to grab the pens and start drawing on yourself.
They're a little ticklish but you mix a few of the colours together to reflect your feelings and try to draw a picture of Bagheera too.
"Oh, teeny," Mamí chuckles when she comes back into the room," Did you get into my pens again?"
It's a fairly adorable sight. You're sitting on the floor with your tongue poking out of your mouth as you run the yellow pen up and down your arm as Mapi catches sight of a black blob that was clearly your impression of Bagheera.
"Like you," You grunt as you drop the pen and reach for another one.
Mapi intercepts you before you can, pulling you into her lap and reaching down to put all the caps back onto the pens again. "Like me? Like my tattoos?"
You nod, trying to reach for the pens again.
"How about I do them?" Mapi asks," And then we can compare styles?"
You nod at that too, suddenly excited. At home, Mamí likes to sit with you at the kitchen table and draw together before swapping pictures.
The pens are still ticklish even though Mamí's using them and it brings a big smile to your face as the nibs run over your skin.
Mumma comes back out through the bathroom, shaking her head in amusement at her phone. She looks up at you and Mamí and her smile gets even wider.
"Look at you!" She laughs.
"Like Mamí!" You say proudly, looking down at your arms and then back at Mumma again.
"I can see that. You're just like your Mamí."
That makes you feel very good and the sunshine yellow you already put on your arm reflects that.
"That washes off, right?" Mumma asks Mamí, giving her one of the looks that she gives her when she forgets to put your clothes in the laundry after a bath," And it's not going to stain?"
"It definitely washes off," Mamí says, switching colours to add the finishing touches.
"And the staining?"
Mamí stays silent for a little bit. "Only a little? It's barely even noticeable!"
Mumma sighs, massaging her temples like she did that time Tia Patri and Pina babysat you and she came home to them passed out asleep on the floor and the kitchen covered in flour.
"If anyone makes reference to it tomorrow," Mumma says in a tone that means she's being very serious," Then you're in trouble."
You frown. "Me?"
Mamí laughs. "No, teeny, your Mumma means me."
You think for a moment before smiling. "Okay!"
Mumma starts laughing at the offended look on Mamí's face and you give her a toothy grin in answer as she shakes her head in disbelief and puts the pens back on your arm.
Mamí works away for a few more minutes before putting the lid back on the pen.
"All done," She says to you.
"All done?"
"All done."
You look away from the video Mumma's showing you on her phone to look down at your arm. You pull at the skin a little bit to see all of it before you crash into a hug with Mamí.
"Mumma! Mumma!" You say excitedly," Look! Look! Like Mamí!"
"Wow!" Mumma says," You're exactly like your Mamí! Should we take a picture?"
You nod. "Picture! Picture!" You tense your arm like how Mamí does when she wants to show off and beam at the camera.
"And how about one with Mamí too? Because you both look so similar."
"Mamí! Mamí! Picture time!"
Mamí kneels down next to you, flexing too as she smiles at the camera.
"Send me that," She says to Mumma," I think that'll have to be my new home screen."

How the hell did I learn about the 9th Amulet book through two brothers arguing in the backseat behind on a two hour plane trip from Arizona? I thought they were joking at first till I searched it up and it’s real and it’s coming out very soon. So after I learned that I decided to re-read the Amulet series up till 8 and decided to tell whoever is willing to read this my thoughts!
Clarification beforehand though, I do enjoy Amulet. It was one of my favorite pieces of media for a few years and even inspired me to create my own story similar to it. While I may come off a bit hatful and aggressive, I do like this series but that doesn’t mean I don’t have my fair share of problems with it
Books 1
So I’m going off the same rating scale that I use for movies so go check out my Trolls Band Together review to know what each rating means and just replace movie/film to with book. Anyways I give this book, 6/10. I enjoyed this book. This was the first graphic novels series I read and I was excited to know what happened next. I also loved how the robots and the robot house looked. I don’t have any problems with the first book. Primarily because it’s way too early to have any problems.
The reason why I rate it low though, is because while I enjoy it, it’s not my favorite. It didn’t do much to really impress me nor draw my attention. It did just enough to make me wanna see what happens next.
Book 2
With the second book I give it a 6.8/10 right between 6.5 and 7. Why? Well for starters I enjoyed the Elf plot line. To me, when I first read the series was much more interesting then the main one for some reason. This is the book where we meet Leon. Leon, for the most part was an interesting character. Not to mention we get some world building through him about the elf king and being a stone keeper.
Navin’s plotline, while useful to some degree, wasn’t my favorite. Of course it’s important but I was less invested than I should’ve. That might just have been a personal problem I have with Navin later in the series but we’ll get to that later.
My only problem with this is Luger. Now, Luger is a good villain and I found him intimidating when I first read the second book. I think my problem really stems from the fact that this is the only book where Luger gets to be a villain. This should be a book 3 problem but book 2 is where he is defeated.
Book 3
Book 3 was my favorite when I was younger and it still holds the place as one of my favorite amulet books in the series to this day. I give it a good 7.5/10. This book does a lot of things right in my opinion. I like the action sequences and the new information about Trellis backstory proving again that he is the most interesting character. I also found Rico and Enzo funny believe it or not. They are a fun addition to the party.
However, my problem was the robots. Miskit and Cogsly were just there most of the time. They didn’t really guide Emily like they were set up to be. I didn’t feel anything when they got captured. Which is not something you want your readers to feel when something bad happens. I also found Luger’s personality change strange. I expected him to be a bit more hostile and condescending after being defeated. Granted, you could argue it was the stone but still, it was odd.
Book 4
I have mixed feelings about this book. This is where certain problems that I have with Kazu start to show. First of all, I give this one a 7.5/10 as well. I was never sure if I should trust Max until the very end. I never understood Max. He was suspicious and I thought he had bad intentions some times and other times I thought for a moment maybe he did have good intentions for Emily.
I also like Alyson mostly because she felt much more real. She was fun and I liked her character. Leon, Rico, and Enzo have their moment, the prison break which I enjoyed reading. I also like the Elf racism while Trellis and Luger are at the prison. Granted, it’s brief but it’s to be expected and it does give some insight on what other people think about Elves. I also liked Vigo. I was glad to see another stone keeper on the good and he also came with more world building which I’m always glad to see.
However, Miskit and Cloglsy were both weak parts and I was confused about how everyone was dead and stone and Max’s agenda for a while. I had to re-read certain parts to fully grasp what was happening.
Book 5
Book 5 was a 7/10. I don’t have many thoughts. For one I am mad they split up the original party. Karen, Miskit, Cloglsy, and Leon felt like they were meant for more before they got shoved in the brook closet. Sure, Cloglsy is here with Navin but it isn’t much. I do enjoy seeing Navin and Alyson hanging out, that’s fun. Max’s backstory is sad..he tried helping his friend and her family from prison. Only for it to backfire horribly in his face and be thrown into prison for trying to be a good person. His hatred and need to revenge for his dead friend is such an interesting concept for a villain and he poses such a genuine threat and I love it.
Then there is the about the voice. I am not gonna lie, not a big fan of it. The reveal that the voice is the elf king felt odd and sort of out of place. I don’t know. I have mixed feelings about it.
Book 6
Max. Max, max, max. All I got to say is f-ck you, Kazu Kibuishi for screwing over such an interesting character. This book gets a 5.1/10. The utter and total whiplash I got when Max wanted to work with Trellis, Emily, and Vigo gave me migraines. There was no build up and it was so random. And his death, are the FUCKING kidding me. This just felt like a lazy way to write out a character. Max knew that Layra wouldn’t approve of his actions and that’s why he asked for forgiveness. Then he tried to justify with her and it’s such horse crap! No to mention, it was so fricking anticlimactic and just lazy!
I also wasn’t a big fan of Navin’s side plot. Also something reoccurring is that Emily is just there. She doesn’t push the narrative because she has no goals. She just does heroic stuff because she feels she has to. Not because she wants to. It makes her feel flat. Which is disappointing since she had potential to be great.
The reason why I don’t put this as a three is because the scene where they save the elves and Trellis announces himself to be the real king, is cool. Not to mention I liked Riva. She’s a character that had great potential. However this is not enough to save this book.
Book 7
Oh, firelight. You are the embarrassing sibling in the Amulet series. I give you 3/10. First off, one good thing I’ll say is I am glad we are continuing the theme of lost. Even if it feels weird, pacing wise. That’s it. That’s the only thing I really enjoy about this book.
First off I didn’t like Pil, Alyson, and Navin’s storyline. It was just there and it took up too much page time. Second, Gabilan. Oh, Gabilan. He was also just there. We get his backstory, he does some stuff and then he dies. He’s a plot device and while if you really think about it, everyone is a plot device, Kazu didn’t try to hide the fact that he is a plot device. Also the ending. TRELLIS. YOU ARE TELLING YOU DID EVERYTHING TO TRY AND STOP HER FROM BECOMING A BIRD! WHAT THE F—
Book 8
Where do I begin. First off, this book was a 0/10.
And now my problems. First off the si fi outer space plot like win Navin was so boring. Oh my god. I felt nothing. But that. That part was least of my concerns. My concerns was everything else. First of all, Trellis and Vigo got nerfed so easily that it annoys me. They stop the army and that’s fine, though they did it without trying. And that’s it for them. In the entire book. I have several issues with them shoving Riva, Trellis, and Vigo in the closet.
But my biggest issue is Emily and the void. First of all how the hell did she get out so easily. Was this even an issue if she just left without any problems any help. WHY DID SHE NEED NO HELP! If it was that easy to leave the void, why did it take people years to get out. What the fuck. Also what the fuck is with the future Emily bullshit?! TIME PARADOX ARE A THING KAZU. THERE IS A REASON NOT MANY PEOPLE DESL WITH TIME TRAVEL. Also who the hell is Moze’s dad?! Why does he have to her son?! Kazu, why?! You missed the mark by a landslide.
Also the elf king. WHAT. THE. FUCK. IT WAS SO FRICKING EASY TO DEFEAT HIM. JUST HAD TO TAKE OFF HIS DAMN MASK. TELL ME THIS. IF THE ELF KING WAS THAT EASY TO DEFEAT, WAS HE EVER A REAL THREAT IN THE FIRST PLACE?! NO! WE HAVE BEEN BUILDING UP TO THE ELF KING AS THR BIG BOSS SINCE BOOK 2 AND WE DEFEAT HIM IN THE MOST ANTICLIMACTIC WAS POSSIBLE ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?! NOW THE MAIN THREAT IS A BUNCH OF SHADOWS?! WHY?! WHY! AND IF YOU TELL ME THAT THAT ISNT WHAT BOOK 9 IS ABOUT IT STATES IN THE AMZON DESCRIPTION: “Emily finally understands the stone's power and what she must do to defend Alledia from the shadows.”
ALSO THE FACT THAT EMILY IS ALIVE SEEMS LIKE A NO BIG DEAL TO VIGO AND TRELLIS ALSO THEY JUDT LER HER LEAVE TO GO KILL A BUNCH OF SHADOWS ALONE?! ALSO OLD EMILY WAS THERE TO GIVE EMILY HER STAFF AT THE END. AGAIN, TIME PARADOXS ARE A THING KAZU.
Overall thoughts:
It’s obvious that Kazu Kibuishi wrote this story without a proper outline. What does that mean? It means Kazu didn’t know how he was going to end the story or the middle. He knew the beginning and instead of trying to figure out and plan the entire story, he wrote what he thought of right on the spot. When waverider comes out I will buy it and read it. I will also most likely rate it and write down my thoughts. Till next time though, if you actually took the time read this post and indulge in my thought process and ideas.

Adolescent Antichrist (Book 4) Chapter One
Father Figure! Lucifer x Teen! Reader
Chapter One: You Can Never Look Gay Enough
Summary: (Y/N) turns fifteen.
Mouse Note: We're back!!
“Happy Birthday, (Y/N)!” cheered their friends as they ran in through the penthouse door as Lucifer blinked and watched the crowd of alt kids crowd around (Y/N).
“Yeah, yeah, thanks,” said (Y/N), smothering a smile.
“So, these are your friends?” Lucifer grinned. He was happy that (Y/N) had gotten to close to people other than Em since she wasn’t human and Lucifer wanted (Y/N) to have some human friends to relate to.
            “Yeah, I guess,” said (Y/N).
“I’m Marcel,” said the boy with purple hair.
“I’m Leon.” They fiddled with the cuffs of his sleeves.
“Olive!” said the girl in a braid cheerfully.
“Noa.” They tucked their skateboard farther under their arm.
“Well, I’m glad (Y/N) managed to make friends, though I don’t know how they did it,” said Lucifer.
(Y/N) rolled their eyes. “You’re one to talk.”
“I’ll ignore that because it’s your birthday,” said Lucifer, ushering the group into the living room where snacks and drinks were laid out on the table. “Now,  have fun, and if anyone needs the hospital if you get into anything in the house, just let me, Mr. Lucifer, know!” Lucifer cheerfully turned away to leave (Y/N) and Em with the rest of the LGBTQ+ Breakfast Club.
“I don’t think we’re planning on drinking, but that’s good to know,” said (Y/N).
“Your dad is strange. But cool,” said Marcel.
“Oh, he’s not…He’s just my foster parent,” said (Y/N). They didn’t want to say Lucifer wasn’t their dad because they wished he was and were just afraid of having to tell Lucifer and find out he didn’t want to adopt them or anything.
“Ah, I understand,” said Leon, nodding.
“Is his name really Lucifer or did he transition and choose it?” asked Nao.
“God given.” (Y/N) smirked and shared a look with Em.
            “Interesting,” said Nao.
“You’re name sounds like ‘now,’ ” said Olive with a snicker. “So I wouldn’t be commenting on what names are normal or not.”
“And your name is a fruit. Whose parents chose the worse one?” responded Nao. Olive pouted.
“We should open gifts before they continue,” said Leon.
“Then hand me the gifts,” said (Y/N), putting up a hand.
Leon and Marcel handed their gifts over and grabbed Olive and Nao’s as well. The pair’s attention was stolen, and everyone watched as (Y/N) opened gifts.
“Hey, Em, don’t you have anything for them?” said Olive.
“They’re lucky I’m here,” said Em, shrugging their shoulders. “Plus, I don’t really understand this human birthday thing. You’ve gone around the sun another time and are one step closer to Hell. What’s to celebrate?”
(Y/N) deadpanned and slapped a hand to their face. She had been doing so well, too, with blending in as human.
“…You’re a little young to be that jaded,” chuckled Marcel.
Marcel, thank you. (Y/N) relaxed as the rest of the group laughed. “Alright, how about Marcel’s first?” They opened the gift and smiled. “A set of rings!”
Marcel shrugged. “You’re always staring at mine, so I thought you’d want to add some to your outfits.”
“So they can look gayer?” said Nao.
“You can never look gay enough,” said (Y/N) nonchalantly, and the group laughed. They moved onto the next gift and opened Leon’s. “A design book. Thank you!”
“With the amount of outfit designs you draw during class, I thought you could use a new book,” said Leon.
“Not all of us are able to focus like you,” said Nao, patting Leon on the shoulder.
“Classics and physics are my special interests,” said Leon in explanation.
“And mine is fashion.” (Y/N) grinned. “Solidarity.”
“Mine next!” Olive pushed her gift into (Y/N)’s hands.
(Y/N) opened it and grinned. “Dude, this fabric is expensive.”
Olive winked. “Only the best for my friend! I saw the color notes on some of yours designs and knew this material would be perfect.”
“Thank you,” said (Y/N). Finally, it was Nao’s. They opened it and smothered a snort. “Really?”
Nao grinned. “Hey, Mrs. Harding already thinks that’s what you are. Might as well commit.”
(Y/N) lifted the gift out of the bag. It was a headband with devil horns and a set of jewelry that was devil themed.
Em did burst out laughing. “You have got to wear that to school! Please! I’m begging you!”
“It’s a gift, how could I not?” said (Y/N), grinning demonically.
Lucifer slammed into the room, holding a box in his arms. “Who wants cake?” Nao, Marcel, Olive, and Leon got up and headed to the table.
“Was he waiting outside to wait for a moment to enter?” said (Y/N) quietly to Em.
            “Definitely,” she replied.
“He needs to get a life,” said (Y/N), rolling their eyes fondly. “Avoiding Chloe by dealing with me just annoys me.”
“Try telling him that,” said Em. They shifted for a moment. “Uh. You know, I lied. I did get you something.”
            “Oh?” said (Y/N), surprised.
Em pulled a small item from their pocket. The entire thing was wrapped in a single piece of tissue paper. “It, uh, seems I’m as bad at wrapping gifts as I am at skateboarding.”
(Y/N) grinned. “I don’t mind.” They opened the paper. “Oh, Em. This is…”
“You, uh, dropped it when you first showed me them.” Em looked away in embarrassment.
(Y/N) held the necklace of one of their feathers. “It’s beautiful, thank you.”
“Yeah, yeah, and it goes with the red jasper necklace Lucifer got you,” said Em, trying not to turn pink in embarrassment at how much thought she had put into the gift. “Do you…want me to put it on?”
“Sure. I’d like that.” (Y/N) turned around, and Em gently clasped the choker on.
They stepped back nervously. “Happy Birthday, Birdie.” Em smiled.
            (Y/N) smiled back.
l
“So, did you have a good time with your friends?” said Lucifer, smiling at (Y/N).
They grinned. “Yes. Thanks for letting me bring them over.”
Lucifer shrugged. “I’m glad you have friends. Why should I care if you have them over?”
“My parents would have flipped if they met my friends. Too…alternative for them,” said (Y/N). They glanced down at themself, dressed in an oversized red shirt and ripped jeans. “Actually, they’d think the same of me.”
“Well, your biological parents didn’t deserve you,” said Lucifer. You’re my kid. “Besides, it doesn’t matter what they would think. You’re with me now. And I want you to have fun.” He grinned. “Speaking of fun, here’s your gift for some more fun.”
(Y/N) took the box and opened it. They grinned. “Oh, yeah, I’ll have fun with this.” It was a brand-new skateboard wrapped in red and black on the bottom. They put it down and hugged Lucifer tightly. “Thank you.” Thank you, Dad.
Lucifer’s eyes widened, and he hugged them back. “You’re welcome.”

Oo! Perfect timing cause I had an idea but don’t know how to have it play out-
So essentially, Leo and/or Mikey think the Lair needs a bit more whimsy. That goes as you’d expect, tickles galore!
-parrot
Tickle Games
Tumblr media
Haha… do you guys get it… lair games? Tickle games? Haha I’m so funny…
*sighs* anyway the premise goes as followed. Leo and Mikey suggest a new game for the lair games, chaos, as you could probably expect it, ensues.
Also I didn’t expect this to be as long as this is lmaooo so strap in ig. I hope you like it tho!
Warnings: None besides that this contains tickling so if that’s not your cup of tea feel free to keep scrolling.
Another year, another layer games.
“Guys I don’t you think it’s boring to do the same stuff over and over again?” Leo asks his brothers.
“You’re only saying that cause you always win…” Donnie deadpans.
Leo waved a hand at his twin dismissively. “Psh! No, it’s just, we do this every year! Why don’t we add something to spice it up a little.”
“Ohh! We should!!” Mikey interjected enthusiastically.
Donnie sighed, “Hmm I don’t know… Raph what do you think?”
Raph shrugged “Whatever you guys want! I don’t mind as long as we get to all have fun and be together.”
“Well…” Donnie continued, “I don’t see it against the rules necessarily to add an event…”
“YES!!!” Leo cheered excitedly, Mikey cheering along with him.
“Well? What should it be?” Raph asked.
“Oh I know!” Mikey said, grinning rather mischievously. “Why don’t we do… a tickle contest!”
Donnie raised an eyebrow at him. “A tickle contest?”
Leo smirked. “Ohhh I see what you are saying little brother.”
“What? Leo!” Donnie protested at his twin siding with Mikey. “What’s wrong Donnie? ‘Fraid you’ll lose?”
“W-what?! N-no!” Donnie protested, growing slightly red. “Isn’t it just… childish?”
“Well, to be fair, lair games as a whole was created when we were little, ergo making lair games as a whole sorta childish.” Leo reasoned.
“See Donnie? It’s not a bad idea!” Mikey insisted.
Donnie sighed. “Ok… fine. Let’s do a… a tickle contest.”
Mikey pumped his fists in the air. Oh this was gonna be fun.
They agreed to do a few classic games first. Donnie and Leo of course being heavy rivals like every year. So far Leo had beat them all. This made them all thirst for vengeance. They were all determined to beat Leo now.
And so came the tickle game. The way the game would work was that each of them would be held down and tickled. The first one to break the quickest was the winner.
There were many rules Donnie wanted to apply. But they agreed on one. No going to far.
Once they established that the games began.
“Ok who’s going first.” Raph asked, cracking his knuckles. “How about you go first Leo?” Donnie asked him with a smirk. “After all it was you who proposed a new game to begin with.”
Leo nervously looked at all of them. “N-no way!” He protested. “That’s not fair! I say we do rock paper scissors.”
They agreed and did so. They did Mikey vs Raph and Leo vs Donnie. Mikey and Raph went first, with Mikey losing. “Ok Mikey you’re up!” Raph said with a grin.
And so they began. Setting a timer, they all attacked a once. Mikey felt tickly sensations everywhere and it wasn’t long until he burst out laughing. They knew he probably got last place with how quick he broke.
Next was Raph who was tougher to break. But soon he was doubled up in cackles when Leo got one of his shell spikes.
Next was Leo.
Oh boy.
Leo just had to lose the one time to Donnie at rock paper scissor. He hadn’t expected to be this nervous. He didn’t hate being tickled. But he knew how fast he’d break if all three of his brothers were coming at him.
“What’s wrong Nardo? Scared?” Donnie smirked.
“S-Shut up! This game is easy enough.”
“Ohoho… you think so Leon?” Mikey smirked as well.
Like I said before. They were all thirsting for blood. And by blood I mean to beat Leo.
They all eyed him evilly, drawing close, wiggling fingers at him.
Leo gulped. He could tell they were not going to make this easy for him.
Raph had pinned him, like how he had also pinned Mikey. “Ready Leo?” Donnie said. He could feel his fingers itching to tickle.
Leo didn’t say anything, but gulped again and nodded.
Donnie began wiggling his fingers at his sides, while Mikey scribbled all over his plastron, and Raph dug into his armpits with a hand, alternating between each side.
Leo convulsed at the sudden attack, and immediately sealed his lips as hard as he could to try and keep down any laughter now bubbling in his chest. He wouldn’t give them the satisfaction of breaking, especially not faster than Mikey had done.
He knew how long Raph and Mikey both got, all he had to do was beat them right?
“Oh poor Leo~” Donnie teased, “Whatever will he do? All that laughter is building up in his chest! If he doesn’t break soon, he’ll explode.”
Oh how Leo so badly wanted to reply with a comeback. But merely opening his mouth would mean breaking.
His chest shook with laughter as the tickles got more and more intense.
“Oh, I truly hope no one goes for his worst spot.” Donnie said, winking at Mikey. Leo shook his head and, through closed lips shouted wordless noises of protest.
Both Mikey and Donnie latched on to each thigh. Leo was screwed.
They began squeezing rapidly and Leo was lost. He broke the moment their hands twitched. It wasn’t his fault. His thighs were a death spot. This was so unfair!
“AHAHAHA OHOHKAHAHY!!! GUHUHUYS!!” Leo shreiked through his cackles, squirmed desperately to escape the ticklish torture.
They all stopped tickling and Leo had to take a moment to catch his breath.
“W-wha- whahats my tihime…” he managed through breathless excess giggles.
“Hmm… it seems you actually managed to beat out both Mikey AND Raph.” Donnie said, with a hint of disappointment.
“Don’t be so down! It’s your turn now brother~” Leo said with a shit eating smirk, poking his twins cheek. He was delighted to be able to get scott free revenge on his rival.
Donnie however, was determined not to lose.

i enjoy meta analysis of RE4make but even though a big part of the fun in shipping leon x ashley is extrapolating from all the little details in the game, sometimes i wonder what is it about them exactly that makes me go insane and the answer really just boils down to: royal/knight dynamic, fighting through hell to get back to you, blurring the line between duty and love
It's because their relationship doesn't end when the game does. The dynamic that they have in canon will actually carry over into their everyday lives when they're home, but... they're home now. It's different now. Their relationship is Not Normal, and they both know it even if they'd never acknowledge it out loud -- even to each other. And they have to find some way to live with themselves and also each other within the confines of mundane reality after escaping from a waking nightmare together.
It's the possibilities that pop up around that kind of conflict.
It's them at the same government function and locking eyes with each other from across the room until they can't bear to keep it up anymore. Ashley nervously draws her gaze down and to the side to look at nothing. Leon puts his hands in his pockets and quietly clears his throat, trying to tell himself that the anxious fluttering rising up from the center of his chest isn't there.
It's the way they still try to pass their tiny touches back and forth -- because they both feel the need to be in physical contact with each other for reassurance -- but they both know without saying aloud that they have to be much more subtle and natural about it in order to not raise eyebrows.
It's Leon sitting nervous whenever he's alone in the room with the President, because he's terrified he's been too obvious about even the quiet, subtle affections he's given Ashley since they've been home. He's sure he's going to get the "stay away from my daughter" talk any day now -- despite the fact that even those little affections have been infrequent and wholly innocent -- but it never comes.
It's the way that Leon has to physically choke back the urge to put himself between Ashley and anyone who gets too close to her. That's not his job -- and, in fact, it was an offer he knows he consciously turned down -- but it's an automatic impulse that he never fully trains himself out of.
It's Ashley making sure that she doesn't ask her dad about Leon too often as to be suspicious or annoying -- which equates to her doing it almost never, even though the desire to is always at the forefront at her mind, and not a day goes by that she doesn't think about him.
It's the way they just ignore the growing tension between them from their forced distance apart. It goes on for days, then weeks, then months -- until they can't ignore it anymore. They're not sure who kissed who first, but Leon has both hands buried in her hair, and she has one hand curled into the lapel of his suit jacket and another hooked around the knot of his tie, pulling him ever closer. Before long, he has her back pressed against the wall and her skirt hiked up just far enough to tuck the tips of his fingers beneath the hem of her panties. She can't get the buttons of his shirt open fast enough before pushing the fabric around his shoulders and down the length of his arms. Leon knows that he should stop this -- that this is wrong -- but Ashley's hands on his bare skin has him feeling normal for the first time in almost seven years, and he can't stop kissing her like the cure for his nightmares is written somewhere on the surface of her tongue.
It's Ashley on her back and running her fingers through Leon's sweat-damp hair as he hovers over her, eyes closed and head bowed as he tries to catch his breath and recover in the afterglow. Drops of sweat fall from his brow and the tip of his nose onto her bare chest and neck, and she lets them lay where they land. He's beautiful from this angle, and she so desperately wants to allow the words "I love you" tumble from her lips, but she holds back out of fear that, if she said aloud the truth they've refused to speak for so long, he'd put a stop to their now-repeated yet still infrequent midnight trysts. He kisses her slowly -- gratefully -- as he takes hold of one of her hands and weaves his fingers between hers. Her heart aches. Even though she has him for this moment, she still can't call him hers.
At least
I mean
That's what does it for me about the ship idk about you LMAO

I just noticed I never showed off this one art I did while making the most recent chapter of my webcomic. I'm tryna do these lighting tests to get better at doing lighting and stuff for my comic, IDK if it helps or not but it probably is useful at getting more cohesive color schemes. I'm trying to not pick colors super arbitrary anymore and stuff like i did in early chapters. I think its kinda sorta paying off.
Tumblr media
I'm using cliping masks and blend modes recently to make quick and eazy lighting. useally its a few on the characters to add light and shadow basically I
>clip the layer with the blend mode to the layer that contains the characters
>use airbrush to add the color (gives a nice subtle gradient)
>use layer mask to erase the parts I don't want (almost always on the shadow layer) you can also just erase it on the layer if you don't know about layer masks or if its not in whatever software you use but with layer mask if you fuck up you can undo it
>add a layer or two with a subtle blend mode to tie the image together (useally one that can effect the pure black lineart like screen or hard light)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
personally i think it really enhances the scenes it makes it feel more atmosphery, the orange lighting looks so good on Leon's hair mmmm (also just realized i fogor to color Leon's eyes and mouth aaaaaa)
Tumblr media
Also while showing off this art because this basically turned into a big behind the scenes post it also made me feel like showing off this ref sheet which i never have actually done before now that I think about it. (i ended up simplyfying the bandage on Red's face for the comic, this does make more sense as a bandage for a serious injury compared to the actual one looking like a shitty band-aid but its distractingly detailed and it would be annoying to draw 50 times)
normally I also draw a back veiw but I was lazy and these outfits are pretty straightforward anyway i'm sure I'll never forget to draw a back veiw in sceneroes where it is important (forshadowing~)
maybe I'll show more refs at some point in the future lol tho some are pretty old and bad (if yall want me to show any in particular I probably can)
anyway this was originally just gunna be the first image but turned into a sorta rant tutorial how fun, should i make more posts like this, who knows, if people find it intresting maybe

Cabinet of Oddities (Part 25)
Ah have the next part as well before the weekend break
Summary: We’re going to kill him, my sweet mask. And we’re going to enjoy ourselves doing it. You have no need of the ill-fated wizard, only of me. Your vampiric friend is competent though. He’d make a fine ally in our world.

There is always a way to kill someone. You just have to be creative enough . Astarion had been thinking over this line ever since Nana had uttered it. Creative enough… He’d gone through the normal plans of how to murder someone using poisons, stabbing, decapitation, hells, even drawing Cazador into the sun but he knew none of these ideas would work. Cazador wanted him and he sure wasn’t going to hand himself over. But what if I could though?
He waited until she was alone before he approached, skulking up behind her.
Nana jumped out of her skin. “Gods, Astarion! Why do you insist on doing that? Walk like a normal person!”
He gave a smirk. “Where is the fun in being normal, darling?”
She sighed. “Still. Don’t sneak up on people. Or at least not me. Sneak up on as many bad guys as you like.”
He took a seat next to her trying to judge where her mind was at right now. “Your little soirees with Gale seem to have made you your old irritating self again, I see.”
She blushed, his words still having their old effect on her. “Thank you, I think.” She curled a lock of hair behind her ear. “You’re here to talk to me about the painting, aren’t you?”
“In a way I am.”
“I’m sorry. I know I shouldn’t have taken your form. It’s a huge consent thing and I wasn’t thinking, I didn’t think you would find out and please don’t get angry with-”
He turned to her quickly. “Stop. I’m not angry with you. At least not at this moment. What you did was quite sweet, I suppose. But no, I actually wanted to ask-” He hesitated, a moment of weakness for this ? “I wanted to ask for your help.”
She looked over at him with curiosity, “And what might that be with?”
“Cazador.” He said, letting the name roll off his tongue distastefully.
-------------------------------
Nana looked around, a creeping sensation rolling up her spine. Astarion had spoken to her for some time about what he wanted of her and although she had wanted to object, to tell him there was a better way, she had found herself nodding, recommending tips on the best ways to break into the Szarr Palace. You’re here again. A prickling in her fingertips as if they wanted to move of their own accord. She closed her eyes, the silence of the last few days now becoming a cacophony again.
We’re going to kill him, my sweet mask. And we’re going to enjoy ourselves doing it. You have no need of the ill-fated wizard, only of me. Your vampiric friend is competent though. He’d make a fine ally in our world.
She gazed over at Gale and watched as he softly smiled back at her. She could feel the guilt in her heart knowing what she was hiding. I could tell him about you…
And what would happen? He’d reject you for the killer you are. If he knew what you had just agreed with the pale one. Torture? So, is that what you like to do?
Nana climbed into her tent to hide herself away from the world. They would be safe if she was alone.
Come, my sweet. Tonight will be good for you. Just like old times.
She grabbed the new journal that Gale had given her and began to write. Please forgive me.
-----------------------------------
Nana stood at the grand entrance to the Szarr Palace in Astarion’s form considering if she should just knock or waltz in confidently. Don’t think. Just do. She took a step forward and then another, the delicate shoes stepping lightly on the cobblestones. She pushed the door open and immediately felt the threatening eyes on her.
“Brother, you have returned to us.”
Nana scowled at the vampire spawn, giving herself time to remember Astarion’s run down. Leon, long hair, vampire. “You doubted my return?”
“No, of course not. Though you know how he will react. He believes you left out of spite. He’s going to punish you.” Leon’s voice seemed like he was trying to read her as he uttered the words. It was clear that in Astarion’s absence, the punishments and torment Cazador normally inflicted on him had simply been moved to his siblings, the traces of blood on his skin, the bruises on his neck.
Nana looked away trying to show how little she cared. “Worry not, darling. Take me to him.” Astarion, I hope you’re ready.
-------------------------------------
Astarion had crept through the sewers and found the ancient door to his master’s chambers. He’d never seen it before but often he’d heard rumours of its existence and he’d known during his year in solitude that it was close by, a room where Cazador would retreat to if needed. And he sure as hells would need to tonight.
He’d found the hall and stood by the sarcophagus with his pack in hand. It’d been weighed down by bottle upon bottle of holy water as recommended by Nana. Initially, he’d asked her for something simply just to get him close to Cazador but as he’d explained his plan she’d come up with something much more elaborate but also much more satisfying. He started to empty the bottles into and onto the stone coffin making sure not to let any spill on himself. Soon Cazador would be here and then the fun would really begin.
He had warned Nana of what Cazador was like. Of his strength and abilities, but she had responded by saying that those things would just make him arrogant and easier to get him alone. Astarion tried not to concern himself with what she was doing, he’d seen her in combat and although she could handle herself at range, up close she had been weak and easy to best. Maybe we should have done this differently. He considered going to her, but she had been adamant that once they had begun there would be no changes in the plan. She could always betray me as well. Shit.
--------------------------------------
The blow to her head had been hard but it had not been enough to knock her out. Cazador had initially tried to control her as he originally used to with Astarion but when it didn’t work, he’d grown frustrated, lashing out. “Impudent lout!” he shouted as she fell to the ground, Astarion’s hands in front of her breaking her fall. I like this one, it will be a shame to kill him. Cazador kicked her again before turning to grab his adorned dagger.
This was the plan, and she knew it. She hated it but she was willing to do this, just this once to let Astarion be free. If she couldn’t then at least he could be. And then they would return back to camp. She’d see Gale’s smile, and everything would be okay again. She could feel the bruising already emerging under her ribs, the pain a small sacrifice for saving her friend. It’s time.
She closed her eyes, allowing the memories of Thomas to flood through her. It had been so long and yet she felt him twisting and turning in her mind like a large beast emerging from hibernation. She knew how this would go and she only hoped that she would regain enough control to afterwards be able to reclaim herself. Thomas had always been faster than her, stronger. He was experienced in so many ways of how to kill efficiently, disarming Cazador with ease before plunging the dagger into his neck without hesitation. She watched as the shock in his eyes emerged, seeing his slave turn on him with such hostility. The dagger pushed in deeper, the blood causing a rising gurgle in his throat. Deeper, a twist of the blade. A shame he does not breathe to give us that intoxicating melody. Cazador crumpled to his knees, his hands gripped on the blade before transforming into mist and making a hasty exit.
She sighed and followed the red cloud from the room. Vampires… Such pitiful creatures.  The subtle creases of the suit Astarion had chosen were now wet with his master’s blood and she could feel her lips curling into a smile. She spotted the face of Leon watching her as she walked the corridor. He held out an arm to approach her but on seeing her cold murderous eyes he hesitated. Another lamb to the slaughter. No Thomas. Not him. Stick to the plan.
Nana descended to the lower floors. Numerous spawn had seen what they believed to be Astarion coated in a thin layer of their master’s blood and although they knew they should’ve stopped him, none attempted to. She walked with purpose after the apparition and in the distance spotted the real Astarion waiting for her. You’re doing all this for him?
-------------------------------------
Nana poured a bottle of holy water onto the brow of Cazador’s head, slowly at first. A drip drip drip just to wake him before allowing it to run more steadily. He’d tried to leave the coffin repeatedly, but his weakened form forced him to return back instantly, the holy water inside hurting him further. An endless loop of self-inflicted pain. As she poured the water Astarion circled the sarcophagus. He had taken to inflicting random elements of harm on the body of his master. A small nick to the skin, a nail pulled slowly, comments of loathing towards his tormentor. This would be just the start.
Their night together was one he relished. This was more than killing Cazador, this was retribution, and this was what he needed for true freedom again.
It wasn’t until they left the palace that Nana changed her form to her natural changeling one. He had been bothered seeing himself at first. She was almost an exact likeness but small things like how she carried herself had irritated him. She walked with too much pride; her eyes were too bright. Now though, now that he couldn’t see himself, he found himself missing it a little. But now would be different, maybe he could be more like her version, the way she saw him.
They walked in silence for some time, both covered in various degrees of blood, both trying to process what had happened. Astarion had gone ahead a little trying to get himself as far away from the palace as he could. He wanted to move on now, he wanted his life back.
The cool blade held around his throat however prevented that. He froze expecting to hear the wary voice of Leon or another of his vengeful siblings. What he did not expect was the emotionless tones. “Far too trusting, little ivaebhin .”

As a court licensed Kingdom Hearts Hater™, I will always complain about Nomura's decision to exclude Final Fantasy characters on the premise that there "isn't any room for them since there are so many original characters in the main story already."
This new interview (6/14/2022) has Nomura repeating the same thing, but what makes it harder to swallow is that in the same interview he also says characters from the previous side-games, like RAX and TAV, might not be super involved in KH4 since their arcs are done.
So it's like...
If the issue is that there isn't room for FF characters since there are so many original characters...yet you're also sidelining a bunch of those original characters...how is there still not enough room for Squall or somebody to show up and say hi?
If you have room in the plot to introduce a dozen more black coat-wearing dudes with stupid names, then there's enough room for Leon to link up with Rinoa, or Tataru to open a shop in Twilight Town.
Furthermore, side quests are a thing. If there isn't space for FF characters to help out in the main story, you can just relegate them to background stuff like synthesis tasks or minigames to fill up the journal. (This can also be applied to characters like Dilan or Aeleus, who have said a total of 0 words since 2012.) There are going to be NPCs anyway, so just make some of them based on FF characters and give them a few voiced lines. Or have them cameo in Disney worlds like Auron and Zack once did, since a lot of the Disney worlds don't have major "main plot integration" in the first place -- it's just fun side stories where Sora gets to goof off.
If the concern is that there's no room for them in the main story, put them someplace where the main story is taking a break. Pooh Bear or Jack Sparrow have nothing to do with the main story, but they still show up and get to fuck around with Sora for a little bit.
Part of the interview has him saying that he doesn't feel like he agrees with fans when they refer to Kingdom Hearts as a "Disney x FF crossover," and it's like...okay, it's your series, if that's how you feel that's how you feel -- but at the same time, if you understand that a *large* part of the fanbase DOES view the series like that, then what you think doesn't super matter.
Like,
the first game is predicated on the concept of Sora interacting with FF characters. You wake up on a beach with Tidus, Wakka, and Selphie, then get blasted to another world where you meet Squall, Aerith, Yuffie, and Cid. You fight Cloud in Olympus, and you even encounter Sephiroth as a superboss. KH2 and BbS ups the ante by adding more. So even if you don't view the game being a collaboration between FF, you can't blame a fan for thinking otherwise when the original games were scripted the way they were.
You're the one who made the games that way. I get it was done to boost popularity by drawing in a bigger audience by showing off well-known characters, and that's not something that necessarily needs to be done these day. But that's what a lot of people know the series for -- for being "that Disney game with FF characters."
It honestly feels like a bait-and-switch to hear Nomura say things like "this isn't a collaboration between Disney and Final Fantasy characters," when it quite frankly 100% was.
By this point, the FF cast are established characters and should honestly be treated the same way as character like Hayner, Pence, and Olette.
I personally didn't even know what FF was when I played KH1, so Leon and them were original characters from my point of view (they still kinda are anyway, as they're not actually the same people they're paying homage to, besides maybe Auron), so them being missing in KH3 was pretty sad. Cuz for the most part, they're not just cameos. They have their own lore here. Leon isn't Squall from FF8 -- he's a resident of Radiant Garden, for example.
I don't think anyone's saying the series *needs* FF characters, but I think a good portion of the fanbase would say they would still very much like them to be around. No one thinks the series won't be able to thrive without Final Fantasy characters or something ridiculous (that's just a real off-the-mark bad faith take) -- we just want them because they're fun.
Same as wanting the Disney cameos.
This is a fanservicey, crossover franchise from the ground up. Half the fun of the series is seeing who you're going to bump into along the journey. And the FF cameos are one of the pillars of what initially made the franchise iconic and memorable, and it's part of its identity and character. It's charm. It just feels disingenuous to remove them completely, especially if the excuse is something feeble like the ones Nomura gives in interviews.
At the end of the day, Kingdom Hearts is a video game. There's an infinite amount of space for characters (well, within data limitations or whatever), since you aren't confined to some arbitrary runtime like a movie or TV show. You can have side quests, you can have minigames. You can even have branching story arcs with less important characters. I will just never believe there's "no room" for FF characters when a lot of games have just as many characters as Kingdom Hearts and still make room for all of them.
And personally, I think KH is at its best when you have FF characters interacting with Disney characters. Seeing Leon's group help take out the MCP and save Space Paranoids is fantastic. Zack and Hercules training together? Super fun. Kingdom Hearts needs fun wacky moments like this to counterbalance all the main story depression. I can't think of a single positive from removing them.
As a side-note before wrapping up, I don't like seeing the sort of "revisionist history" approach some people take to this whole topic, saying that it's fine the FF characters are being removed because they were "never important anyway." It's like...my brother in christ, did you not play KH1? Because if nowhere else, they sure as hell were important there -- they were Sora's main lifeline and the only recurring characters beyond the original cast and Donald, Goofy, and Maleficent. Sora wouldn't have even been able to keep traveling worlds without Cid upgrading the Gummi Ship. Ansem and Maleficent were introduced via Aerith and Leon. And then they go on to fix up Radiant Garden to its former glory (something which they get no credit for since they were not involved in KH3 and the apprentices reclaimed the castle).
It's an argument that only spawned because people saw those that were upset about the absence of FF characters in KH3 and they wanted to write off their [completely valid] disappointment by acting like schmucks about it (possibly just out of an extension of KH fans being super defensive about criticism in general). If FF characters *had* been in KH3, everyone would've been fine with it, even those saying they were never important. It's just a super weird stance to me, one that feels like people are gaslighting themselves, and I don't get where it comes from because FF characters were obviously integral once upon a time.
Sadly now, thanks to Nomura putting in his two cents with this interview, I'm already seeing people acquiring this false sense of entitlement from being "right all along about FF cameos" and using it to dismiss a very reasonable complaint about the evolution of the franchise. Which is super frustrating. "Hah, you're wrong about FF characters. Even the creator agrees with me! If you liked them, too bad, so sad~! If you want FF characters, go play FF!"
Anyway, this is way longer than I though it was going to be when I started typing, so I'll sign off now.
In any event, I do hope some Final Fantasy characters show up in KH4. I mean, we're traveling to a city literally named "Square" that features a 104 building and a Noctis knockoff. If there aren't any cameos from other Square Enix properties, I feel like they just aren't taking advantage of the playground of an idea that they've created to its fullest potential. I'd be pretty disappointed.

Sync Pair Retrospective - Sinnoh Elite Four
Exactly one year ago today, Aaron was released as the first of the glorious Sinnoh Elite Four.  And as a sucker for all things Sinnoh, I think it's time to talk about the intervening year this trio has had.
AARON Aaron came in with Vespiquen, an outcome I was not anticipating given Drapion. But hey, alts for later, am I right?  Haha, Variety Scouts.
Aaron came in as an Attack/Crit buffer, which is always super valuable.  The fun was in his secondary application as someone who buffed both defenses.  The reasonable limitation, then, was low healing potential.   He had one use of Heal Order, which was a Potion-style heal for himself, and a Mini Potion for his allies. There was a lot of questioning about Aaron's overall performance on arrival. Atk/Crit buffers are great, but competing with Hop as a free unit with superior healing, and Sonia as someone who did like 13 different things at once, kinda placed Aaron in an odd spot.  What exactly did he do better than his competition?
How about Precision Pals?  You know, that beautiful little skill that fixes every high-DPS low-accuracy issue available?  What if he just had that as part of his main buff?  What about Quick Cure and Natural Remedy to counteract status of all kinds?  What about Stalwart/Unbending to just block debuffs to his bulk? What about a glorious 50% flinch rate off his attack as a support?  All of this came together to significantly make Aaron stand out.  Back in this era, grid expansions hadn't been invented yet, which meant this guy?  This was the guy to draw if you liked Kris.  No one did it better.
Of course, grid expansions were made real, and most options with lower accuracy have those issues solved by their own kits.  Kris got Pinpoint Entry 2, and no longer required Aaron's services.  It seemed like his overall utility might dip a bit, just before realizing, oh wait, this dude is a monster in Gauntlet.  Defensive buffs, healing, high flinch rate, solves Atk/Crit needs for offense, and has just about every possible form of counterplay you could ask for?  Aaron's ridiculous.  He's outrageously good.  Even by CS standards, he maintains well.
But of course, there's a reason he's never stood out quite as much as Sonia. Having guaranteed heals with double MPR, Defense Crush 9, and comparable buffing but with more universally significant defense over accuracy really pushed Sonia over the edge.  Being able to paralyze in a pinch is also wildly significant for Gauntlet.  She's always been a sort of gold standard for Atk/Crit buffers that no one's quite kept up with.  But Aaron's still the best effort that's ever gone into it, and holds a unique niche as the only option to provide those same buffs, and accuracy.  It’s just that accuracy is not a sufficient niche half the time.
BERTHA I waited so long for Bertha to join this game, and she showed up exactly as I would've liked.  With Hippowdon.  And as a Tech option with Sandstorm, which I personally like.  Fun fact: I love field effects.  I was unapologetically in favor of Gen 5 weather wars, I love trying to control the field.  Anyway.
Bertha was instantly both underwhelming and one of the most significant additions out there.  Let's get this out of the way: prior to May 2022, Ground type damage was dead in the water.  You either had Maxie, or Ground-types sucked. Cynthia didn't have her expansions and was awful. Hapu and Clay had nothing, and no one was optimistic about later performance in the grid war.  Maxie was your only option, barring like...I guess Leon or SS Serena, who did well enough, but it's different when the sync isn't on-type, you know?  Enter Bertha, a general pool addition that offered a fantastic Ground-type sync nuke.   This?  This was new.  This should have been significant, and her best selling point.  If it wasn't for Kanto.
"But it's the Johto villain arc!" Giovanni is from Kanto!  No changing of the theme skills changes that they relegated a slot for Johto to a Kantonian!  Regardless, anyone familiar with the datamine took one look at the difference between Bertha, who was a bulky Tech nuke that needed offensive support to set up, and SS Giovanni, who had roughly eighty gagillion damage behind both Ground and Poison type attacks, and decided yeah.  Bertha is not relevant.  She does not compete with the DPS that Giovanni is throwing around.  There was no reason to pick her over him.
To compound her woes, much of her kit was Stall-based, and the 10k Master Mode meta was very unkind to Stall, requiring a lot of concessions on Strength powerups.  With the advent of Sinnoh CS happening alongside these three, and introducing insane multipliers and Entry x2 skills, Stall was in a worse position than ever before.  Granted, she was like Wallace in her trap damage stacking, and the added power of Sandstorm had some potential, but the big expectation was in Stealth Rock.  Yes, the dreaded skill of competitive entered Masters in the form of a Rock Damage Field, which would deal an unspecified amount of damage per action to all opponents.  No one knew quite what this would entail, but we hoped for much.  And were given little.  Turned out, the damage was negligible, maybe a little stronger than Sandstorm chip at base, and able to hit for super-effective damage.  Sounds cute, right?  Oh, except that every single fight in the game was retro-fitted to have Rock DF Resistance 9, so Stealth Rock effectively dealt like 20 damage.  It wasn't just negligible, it was effectively nonexistent.  So Bertha, somehow, added basically nothing to the pre-existing Stall meta.
As if all that wasn't enough, things actually got worse somehow.  Three months later, Courtney would also join the general pool, with Ground Zone of all things, answering the long-held question of whether types with natural synergy with Hail and Sandstorm would receive Zones in the affirmative.  Courtney had comparable sync performance, immediate access to a better modifier on damage, and better self-setup.  She wasn't even frail; her physical bulk help up really well.  Bertha faced significant competition there.  And then PokeFairs started getting grid expansions, starting with Cynthia, who absolutely exploded onto the field.  Even among F2P options, we got Naomi, who is actually a respectable damage dealer for the type.
I would be lying if I said Bertha was bad.  I actually happen to like her quite a bit. But compared to Aaron and Lucian?  Yeah, Bertha did not compete at the same level.  And as Ground-type damage has become a bit more commonplace, Bertha’s had some trouble standing out.  Which is a shame.  Maybe her Variety Scout will be good.  Or she’ll get an alt.  Think about it, DeNA.  I’d whale.  You know I’m good for it.
LUCIAN Okay. Okay, listen to me.  It's been a year, and Lucian is still, bar absolutely nothing, the best general pool 5* in the entire game.
At the most basic level, what Lucian offers is tremendously powerful.  And it all lies in Growl, of all things.  Lucian debuffs Attack by 1 stage, on all opponents. His passives then kick in, also debuffing special defense, and boosting the entire team's speed by 1.  At 1/5, Lucian is the second most efficient AoE special defense debuffer in the game, tied with 3/5 Halloween Iris, and losing only to 3/5 SS Hilbert with Ripple Effect and a very lucky P!Dawn.  That is what you are dealing with.  But even that's not enough, because those speed boosts mean that Lucian is keeping your entire team running on nigh-infinite gauge. With no investment, Lucian already improved upon the tried and true success of Palentine's Dawn, becoming one of the unquestionable best tools to get your hands on.  He even had a natural 100% multiplier on sync damage as a Tech nuke, just to really sell that this guy is unreasonable, even with no further investment.
But let's say you want investment.  Let us say you have been graced by the presence of 3/5 Lucian.  Now you have someone with perfect self-setup, thanks to Ramp Up and his trainer move.  Now you have someone with a 50% confuse chance for Uxie as needed.  Now you have someone with SIX sync damage tiles, another multiplier, Adrenaline 1, and even Burst In to just ignore the need for crit buffing in advance of his first sync.   Since he spams Growl all day, Burst In is like an ideal complement to his kit.  Lucian could routinely hit damage cap before it was raised.   This guy was unbelievable from the first moment he dropped, and has not missed a single beat along the way.  Champion Stadium? Unbelievable debuffing game.  Gauntlet?  Stupendous sync nuke.  Battle Villa? The ability to require no MP at all to maximize special damage and maintain gauge for 4-bar spam?  When the next month introduced Johtrio, Lucian was instantly the partner for SS Kris and SS Ethan, perfectly complementing their skillset and wasting nothing.  Every single mode was instantly Lucian's playhouse.
This game was made for Lucian.  Think about it: the moment before he came out was Sygna Suit Morty, a dude who offered great bulk and role compressed Sun into a support.  Right after him, we get Sygna Suit Kris, who did the same but for Rain, and massively favored special attackers.  Often when I talk about their role compression, it's stuff like dual field effects; Morty and Lyra giving Sun and Grassy Terrain, or Kris taking Lucas or Anni Skyla to help out Clair or Winona.  But for everything else, especially on-type, the third was just someone to debuff.  That’s what you were aiming to add.  Lucian was, and is, that debuffer.  Those two literally produced a free spot for him on nearly every team. Especially for Kris, whose main flaw was just being kinda slow.  Lucian could speed her team up, and weakened special defense?  Well I guess the game's just entirely over then, huh?
Even in the face of competition, Lucian prevails.  Sygna Suit Hilbert has Ripple Effect Metal Sound, but when is Hilbert ever going to just spam debuffs for someone else at 3/5?  Sygna Suit Brendan showed up to compress his role into a support, and did a pretty good job at being a debuffer, except Freevenge cannot compete with speed buffs when you’re spamming a 3-bar move, and Lucian opened up alternate supports like full defense or more aggressive special attack supports.
No one has done it like Lucian.  This dude is out here competing with PokeFairs and doesn’t even lose.  His literal only flaw has been competition with Zone setters, and wouldn’t you know it, Master Mode just dropped a 150 point condition to not change field effects, to counteract the 100 point No Debuffs condition.  This game was literally designed for Lucian.  All is for Lucian, the luckiest man in the world.
I want to end this by saying listen.  There have been a lot of new players to this game over on Reddit recently.  If you are such a player, great news: the Sinnoh Villain Arc is about to rerun.  Be sure to collect those daily tickets for free pulls, and use them immediately.  Right now you have 1/7 odds, because Looker hasn’t been added yet.  These are the best odds you have of pulling something specific, and hope that you pull Lucian even once.  Because holy shit.  Holy shit, dude.

So, I know you love drawing both of them, but who do you have more fun drawing between Leon and Claire?
Definitely Leon, but not because I love him more, is the other way around. I love women more than men, so I used to draw a lot of female characters alone.
I have another forever-love character, Sanji from One Piece(well my profile pic is half- leon, half-sanji) and I love to think of them as twins from my own weird perspective.
So I'd probably draw Leon with more Sanji traits than I should. I like seeing men being all pathetic and moppy and getting rejected by women a lot. Vendetta Leon is now my new favorite version of Leon for this reason.
I saw a lot of versions of Leon fan art, but honestly, not really hitting my spot. I THINK I AM THE ONLY ONE THAT CAN DRAW MYSELF THE LEON I WANT.
While Claire has this universal conception of badass, she's, unfortunately, a more "fixed" character. For now, I'm still in this Femdom era of Cleon, so all I need is for her to be a badass. Maybe when I get out of this, I could try to explore more possibilities for her.
Thank you for asking this question! It took me some time to think deeper before I could write this.

TRUE ENDING, DARK ENDING, NEW BEGINNINGS - A STUDY IN CLAIRE AND LEON.
( because if there's one thing capflop can't do is treat women right. disclaimer: this might not be pleasant, please keep in my mind it's in relation to my portrayal and not THE truth )
let's skip all the obvious parts, we already know those. let's dive into claire's mind since by the time death island happens she considers leon her comrade in arms, even though perhaps with the way things go in canon she should be the one throwing the chair. only half joking here.
i'm gonna start by saying that i find ridiculous that claire would fuck off a few days after the outbreak - sure she's impulsive but not at these levels to go in with no plan and no actual idea of where to fly in the first place. so here's the thing, she's stayed with sherry and leon for a while before leaving, planned her search carefully with them watching her too. bonding more with sherry was a given, but she obviously shared enough pieces of information with leon as well since she knows his email.
i don't think claire ever fell head over heels for him as some in this fandom love to imply - she has eyes, and leon is easy on them. that's really all there is to see ( tho i do think her feelings might have changed slightly during their motel hopping situation, but that's more of me world building around the little that we know ) at the same time however, leaving and returning has been a disastrous experience for claire. she was definitely the first to reach out to him post rockfort - mostly to find out what happened to sherry.
on that note, i think that was what held them together at first. it is known that they had visit rights, probably showed up together sometimes, might have decided to join forces against simmons ( although it was useless ) when claire was trying to get sherry's custody. they both love sherry, they both went through hell, they both want to end it - their whole friendship is based on a promise they made to each other when they were a little more thank kids themselves. and that's probably why claire has ended up having a closer bond with leon post raccoon city; they share similarities in that way, and that's what gets them through things since apparently they keep in touch off screen ( would be fun to read more of their email exchanges )
it's obvious claire holds leon on a pedestal in a way - whereas chris was her go to person, leon sort of takes that place post rockfort. he gets contacted in harvardville, she asks his opinion about the drawing made by that kid in penamstan. she cares about him and his opinion, which is somewhat reciprocated through the little hints in canon, but at the same time we see a shift that changes things. if during the airport outbreak leon was speaking highly of claire and how she fought her way out of raccoon city, a couple years later in DC he tells her to "not do anything stupid" more than once, to which claire eventually even tells him "when are you going to stop treating me like a kid?" because claire knows very well she's capable and experienced, so her inner question when it comes to leon is why cant you see me as your equal?
i know some might have expected me to turn this into a ship moment, but it really all boils down to this. claire gets the damsel treatment over and over, to the point that even something that supposedly was fanservice becomes a moment where we can see her annoyance. she seems almost mad when leon asks her if she's fine after being picked up from the acid pool - and while she is okay, there's no doubt that leon and jason's antics have created problems during her convo with wilson, claire still gets up and goes to the control room to once again to the behind the scene work that will grant leon another tyrant kill and a pat on his shoulder by the government.
to put it simply, claire never gets praised, never gets credit, and yet she's the one doing half the work, she's the one staying behind during the aftermath, she's the one who made it possible for the government and bsaa to meet in the first place. claire might as well get into politics some day and i wouldn't be surprised, she's a leader who always gets pushed aside because she's unfortunately surrounded by a lot of toxic masculinity and very fragile egos.
so to circle back, i find it interesting that claire says "i do things my way and you do things yours" because it implies that until then they were always meeting in the middle, but it was really following leon's lead because he's supposed to know better than her. it could be implied that claire has compromised for the past decade, having a different approach to fighting the good fight than him ( leading me to think she had been influenced by neil's charm for a whole lot longer than revelations 2, he just wasn't the leader of terrasave yet so his role wasn't important for the plot but possibly formative to how claire operates ) so this is her stepping away from leon's shadow - it's her way to say ok, i've been following your lead until now, but just because you're the fighter and i'm the rescuer it doesn't mean we're not on the same level.
i also find very interesting that claire and leon seem to not have a "shared campaign" and that she has been given a weapon of her own in death island. it might not mean much in terms of plot meaning, but to me it means a lot because it's already a HUGE step forward ( until now movie wise she would always have a weapon that was either leon's or would be discarded after shooting one zombie which is ridiculous when there's a hoard of them ) toward claire having an identity of her own that is not tied to her brother, best friend, boyfriend of the day found dead at the end. this might be her biggest occasion to shine and perhaps to prove once again that she's on the same level as everybody else - her job doesn't define, her experience does... and of that let me tell you at this point she's got plenty.
to recap: claire did carry the torch for leon throughout the years and as long as the universe keeps destroying every attempt of her moving on, in a way she will always have a soft spot for him. but also if it's true that the distance makes the heart grow fonder, then the farther they stay when it comes to missios the more they'll remain in best terms ( he's still her best friend regardless, is a deal package along with sherry, she will totally host interventions but will never let people use her name to express their disappointment )

For the character bingo may we have the pokevillains?
hough this is a chonker of an ask
okay then! starting off with giovanni.
Tumblr media
especially in pokemas, a lot of his lines are about how i'll understand when i'm an adult, that the way the world works is that pokemon are tools. he doesn't think himself a cruel man, he just thinks it's within his right to mistreat and abuse and abandon others when it suits him.
anyways fuck that bitch, silver i hope you realize that ethan is madly in love with you in the weird "i want to be your rival and friend forever but kissing might also be on the table idk" kind of way.
archie and maxie are next up! i just think that funny divorced men go brrrr. also? the redesigns fucking SLAP
Tumblr media
CYRUS. OUGH. @dino--draws is incredibly talented and has influenced so much of the way i view this bitch okay
Tumblr media
anyways i wrote fic about cyrus which pretty much sums up my feelings on them. repressed piece of shit who needs a smack upside the head and then to be buried in a blanket pile until they calm down. That one's only 7k unlike the uh. doorstopper that is shattered diamond. which you should also check out because dino did such a good job playing them and it's a fun adventure!
next up. GHETSIS.
Tumblr media
hrrrrgh. i want to bite ghetsis. sidenote im kinda disappointed at the use of the disabled villain trope with him :/
Tumblr media
lysandre. clearly gay and pining and i think he fucking died????? sir. sir, please touch grass and pull your head out of your asshole. things change. people grow older. have you considered getting coffee with your old friend sycamore and maybe learning to romanticize the foxy grey hairs he's getting at his temples? i promise you'll feel better once you do.
Tumblr media
lusamine. GAH. bitch. i don't like USUM trying to soften her actions down-- she abused her kids, plain and simple. i'm not opposed to her getting a redemption, or acknowledging that grief and neurotoxins were a large part of the problem that drove her actions, but her kids deserve some damn space apart from her afterwards. let them get what catharsis they can, and then give them the chance to heal apart from her.
idk enough about chairman rose to confidently say much about him-- ceo dilf who manipulated local himbo leon? he's a bitch but technically he's the only villain to succeed.

Mayblade - Day 29 : Fireworks
Drabble (about 1 000 words)
Characters: Kyouya and Kakeru Tategami
"I love the New-Year festival!" Kakeru exclaimed.
He was so happy to be back home and reunited with his family he felt like he was going to burst. He didn't regret his trip to the United States, but he really missed being home.
It was all the more fun as they were all dressed in kimono for the occasion. His was sober, grey with green flame patterns, like his favorite t-shirt. Their father wore a traditional kimono. Kyouya and their mother had outdone themselves, as usual. Kakeru didn't remember seeing them wearing the same kimono twice. Their mother wore a kimono decorated with flowers, surrounded by silver motifs. Her hair was gathered in a complex chignon and adorned with jewelery. Leone's face was woven into Kyouya's kimono. Silhouettes of leaves and flowers were starting at Leone's face, occupying the entire left half of his kimono. Not to mention the ribbon holding is hair instead of his usual elastic, even if no one should point out to Kyouya it matched the color of the dominant element of the year–black for water, in this case.
"The parents left on their side," commented Kyouya.
"Already?!"
Kakeru glanced around them and realized that, indeed, their parents were already disappearing in the crowd.
Well, we can forget about the family reunion.
"Should we start with the predictions?" Kyouya suggested, pointing at a booth a few steps away.
"For someone who doesn't believe in magic…"
"Don't start." Kyouya's warning was accompanied by a dark look that had no effect on Kakeru. He was 100 percent immune.
Kyouya narrowed his eyes. He waved his index finger. Still without effect. Kakeru hesitated between teasing him–reminding him this time he almost had an attack by drawing the number four, for example–and sparing him. He chose the second option. It would be his best move of the year.
They went to the stand and each pulled out a predictive tablet. Kakeru looked at his own, his heart beating. He returned it with a determined gesture. Good luck. That wasn't bad.
"What did you get?"
Kyouya's little smile answered him before he even returned his tablet. Excellent luck.
"How do you get that every year?"
"I'm the eldest," smuggily answered Kyouya.
"That's not a reason." Kakeru looked at the tablet a little closer. He looked up at his brother." You realize that statistically speaking–"
Kyouya suddenly pointed to another stand. "They sell takoyaki and yakitori there." And to head there with a decided step.
I guess we shouldn't talk about statistics either.
It certainly hurt Kyouya's logic.
But, well. No festival was worthy of that name if you didn't eat. So it wasn't a too annoying change of subject.
Besides, I'm sure he dreamt about Mount Fuji again.
The Tategami brothers enjoyed meals as they walked down the festival aisles. Kakeru let his eyes wander from stand to stand. Many were dedicated to food, of course, but there were also different games–most of them involving Beyblade. The atmosphere was cheerful. Smiles were on all faces. It was a great way to start the year. Kakeru grabbed his brother's arm, startling him. He laughed and walked back. "Sorry."
"You don't look sorry," Kyouya remarked.
"There are ema there, shall we go?"
Kyouya narrowed his eyes, telling him that his change of subject had not gone unnoticed. He crossed his arms but headed towards the ema. "I don't see the point. If you want something, you have to fight for it and not just wish for it."
"You could make a wish about Ginga."
"I don't need a wish to defeat him."
"Of course!" replied Kakeru fervently. "I was thinking of a wish to wish him happiness, good health… The same kind of wish I'm gonna make for you and our parents."
"Sappy."
Kakeru laughed. He took a ema and wrote down his wish. "I'm sure Ginga would need something," he commented by hanging his ema.
Kyouya's disinterest turned into a thoughtful look. He observed the ema as if they held a secret he wanted to know. He grabbed a ema and drew furious ideograms.
"You've come up with an idea."
Kyouya hung the ema with a sigh. "Three years we've known each other, and Ginga had to: face an evil bey, prevent the Atlantis' resurrection, destroy an energy reactor and fight a false god. I want a quiet year, with Beybattles. I'm tired of getting involved in all this stupid stuff."
Kyouya joined hands and closed his eyes, probably to reiterate her wish. Kakeru could picture him address the same words to the gods, complaining about these "stupid stuff".
Kyouya opened his eyes and glared daggers at the ema. Kakeru wouldn't vouch on its chances if Kyouya's wish wasn't granted.
"You helped save the world. That's cool."
"I prefer Beybattles."
"And me, motorcycle tournaments."
Kyouya smiled.
The Tategami brothers continued their wanderings through the festival, stopping at one stand or another. They walked until the fireworks display, for which they miraculously found their parents. Points of light invaded the sky. Sometimes scattered in a shower of sparks, sometimes drawing elaborate shapes–flowers, birds, figures. Kakeru glanced at his parents and brother, captivated by the spectacle. He smiled.
It was really the best way to start the year.
