Many years ago I was an assistant manager at [REDACTED]. So one day I'm at the register and this person and their child are checking out, the kiddo (maybe 10yo) asks to get a candy bar. Of course the parent says no, and the kid looks confused and says "But it's Friday. There should be no limits on Friday."

So I live by that now. I'm treating myself to all kinds of goodies because life is shitty rn but I just got paid and it's Friday and there's no limits on Friday.

Feb. 7: Pink Delay In Situ

Dear diary, today I bought a delay pedal. Not the multi-function reverb and delay thingie from the same manufacturer that I literally mentioned last time I published something I think but I am not a patient man, to be fair, and it was a busy morning, so I lost an auction to buy a used Nux Atlantic at a discount, and then also in parallel was going to be near a Guitar Center and checked what they had in my price range and then I went there and made them dig this out of the back and take my money.

And only after I got it home did I read a little more about Nux to find out it's a Chinese company putting out unsubtle knockoffs of beloved pedals, but isn't that just another frame on what Behringer does? I think so, so I'm fine with it, for a budget-friendly source of warm analog delay to route the Minilogue through.

You can hear the Minilogue-via-pink-delay bits in the first half of this. The rest was recorded, idk, yesterday, maybe? Or a few days ago? Filenames and nested projects and _final.doc are not my strongest suit.

All the other exorbitant delays and reverbs and dusty record effects are still new things I'm trying out.

What I've still failed to do is stop trying to make song parts and put together anything resembling a clumsy generative little patch using the synth and Minilogue and whatnot.

But what I have succeeded to do is find some favorite synths, like, I would buy a Prophet 5 tomorrow if such a thing were plausibly in my budget, which it is not, so the Arturia VST will do nicely for now, but I really enjoy the way it sounds.

Oh! BTW, the other thing I remembered to do was to add rests in the Minilogue sequence. Next time, more rests.
