"Brother!" Kaname stirred from his seat on the couch where he was enjoying a book, his chocolate brown eyes peering over the top of it as little Yuuki ran over to him and clambered up to be seated next to him, her small hand tugging at his brown jacket.
"Is something the matter Yuuki?" Kaname asked his facial expression never changing though Yuuki could detect his concern and she giggled into her stuffed rabbit.
"No Kaname, nothing bad," Yuuki's eyes brightened when Kaname placed his book on the floor and patted his lap to get her to sit there and she gladly scurried on and cuddled into him, "Kaname, what's a kiss?" she tilted her head to the side so innocently that even Kaname couldn't stop the light blush that appeared on his cheeks.
"Surely you know what a kiss is, after sharing many with me?" Kaname asked gently stroking his thumb across little Yuuki's cheek, a small angelic smile on his lips as he leaned down and brushed his lips across her cheek making her gasp and giggle again.
"That's a kiss?" Yuuki asked and beamed excitedly when Kaname simply nodded, amused by her reaction and jumped a little when a grinning Yuuki threw her arms around his neck.
"But Yuuki," Kaname started shuffling the girl in his arms so that their eyes met, "why did you want to know?" he asked gently brushing Yuuki's long brown hair out of her eyes.
"I read it in a book Mother left on the couch," Yuuki explained blinking a couple of times before she cuddled into Kaname again, smiling happily when he wrapped his arms around her protectively and lay his head against hers.
It was only a draft of cold air that broke the pair apart and Yuuki gasped loudly again as she hurried down from Kaname's lap to greet their parents, their scent filling the young Pureblood's nose like a comforting cuddle.
"Mother, father!" Yuuki squeezed her toy rabbit in between her arms as she cuddled against the legs of her mother, Juuri while under the smiling eyes of Haruka who shuffled the umbrella in his hands and gently placed it down against the wall.
"Ah!" Juuri smiled bending down, grabbing Yuuki around the waist and sitting the little girl upon her hip, "and how is Yuuki today?" her mother's smile was beautiful at that moment and Yuuki couldn't help but stare in awe, her little fingers reaching out and touching those lips that had placed loving kisses on her forehead.
"She adores you," Haruka's deep voice sounded from behind the two females and Juuri looked over at him with a blush on her cheeks, giggling when Yuuki squealed upon seeing Kaname arrive in the entrance to greet his parents.
"Did you travel safely?" Kaname asked a little too seriously for his age and Juuri placed Yuuki on the floor before tapping Kaname's head in a playful manner.
"Oh Kaname I wish you wouldn't be so formal with us," she then cuddled him into her arms with an adoring smile on her face before swaying Kaname from side to side making both her and Yuuki laugh whilst Haruka gazed upon the sight of his perfect little family.
"Formal?" Kaname sounded a little confused, but it went unheard as Juuri then pulled away from him and wrapped her arms around Haruka's arm, beaming up at him as he just smiled silently as usual.
"Mummy, today I learnt what kisses are!" Yuuki tugged on her mother's white and pink dress trying to get her attention and it worked as both Juuri and Haruka were now looking at her curiously.
"Oh really?" Juuri asked bending down until her hands were on her knees, her face level with Yuuki's, "and what did Kaname say they were?"
Behind her, Haruka moved to Kaname's side and placed a hand caringly on his son's shoulder, smiling when the brunette looked up at him.
Yuuki didn't reply and simply leaned over and kissed her mother's cheek sweetly, giggling straight afterwards and blushing a bit when Juuri straightened up and cupped her cheeks, swaying from side to side.
"Oh I just got a kiss from Yuuki, Haruka you must be so jealous of me," a little flirtatious eyebrow lifted on her beautiful face and a deep chuckle sounded from the man behind Kaname.
"Only those of true beauty get kisses from our little girl," Haruka pointed out with a wispy tone that made Juuri blush slightly and she watched as Yuuki then went to both Kaname and her father, kissing their cheeks just so that they knew that she thought they were true beauties too wanting everybody to be equal in her family.
"Come Yuuki, we'll read together," Kaname said gently as he held his hand out to her, which she gladly took and padded after her big brother as they walked back into the room and over to their favourite spot on the couch.
"Oh look at them," Juuri sighed and cuddled her husband's arms lovingly, her free hand lifting and running her nails across his cheeks gently as she gazed at his handsome face, "they act closer than we ever did," she chuckled and grinned when Haruka smiled again and placed a kiss on the top of her head.
"You were even more stubborn back then," Haruka teased in a gentle tone and Juuri's face flushed before she gently pulled her husband's face down to hers and kissed his kips tenderly, "Juuri," he whispered when they pulled away from each other, his hand squeezing the one on his cheek lovingly as he gazed into his wife's eyes.
"Oh don't look at me like that with those eyes," Juuri playfully pushed her husband in the chest and laughed when Haruka grabbed her around the waist and pulled her back against him so their lips could meet again.
"Then don't tease me with such short kisses," Haruka replied quietly, aware that his children were in the next room and he captured his wife's lips in a sweet, almost delicate kiss that made both of them swoon against one another.
"What's snu-snugger-ling?"
Both Haruka and Juuri pulled away with a smile at the sound their young and curious child and walked into the room to find Yuuki pointing at the book Kaname had been reading a little while before the kissing explanation had taken up his time.
"Snuggling is when you grab a hold of somebody you love very much," Juuri started and then wrapped her arms around Haruka's waist, "and then get all close and squashy with them like this," she then buried her head in her husband's chest and cuddled up into his body, sighing at the scent of him.
Yuuki stared at them as if she was taking mental notes and started to do the same with Kaname who was blushing darker by the second every time Yuuki's head nuzzled against his chest.
"They are so sweet," Juuri sighed quietly to the much taller man she was still snuggling with and closed her eyes as Haruka began to pet her long hair gently.
It was times like this that Haruka and Juuri truly loved being a family, being this close to each other just seemed to fuel them completely even though they were having hard times at the current time. The sheer innocence of seeing their children play and learn together was the thing that both of the adult Pureblood's practically fed off of.
"Hey…what's sex-uo intercus?"
However, they still wished their daughter was a little less curious when it came to words she didn't know.

I just had the most nonessential crossover come to me in a dream.
Katekyou Hitman Reborn!/Vampire Knight, where the driving point is that Yuuki awakens her Sky Flames the exact moment she perceives that she needs to rip jolly old uncle Rido's head off because otherwise he's going to kill her Sun and Lightning, (Zero and Kaname respectively).
Like, that entire dream just straight up devolved into a fucking bar Brawl between Yuuki and Rido while others observe. It was strangely beautiful.
Zero doesn't have a chance to even talk with Ichiru before Yuuki pulls Rido's heart out of his chest cavity.
For refrence, I have since figured out her entire element scheme.
Sun - Zero Kiryuu (Fully Harmonized Upon Activation. Most definetly doesn't cry like a little bitch upon said moment. No siree, completely dry-eyed, whatever Ichiru says is a bald-faced lie.)
Lightning - Kaname Kuran (Their Flames brush upon Activation, and while Yuuki Is Very Much MINE she's also too weak to have more than a very surface level bond with him, which contributes to their continued lack of romance in this AU. Ten thousand years man, it does shit to your Flames. He's really fucking lucky Bermuda hasn't sensed a Disturbance and come to hound his ass over certain aspects.)
Mist - Shiki Senri (Reported: Cousins get on like a house on fire when they team up to beat the shit out of the formers abusive father. Seriously, full blown Harmonization the moment he realizes that she is, legitimately, trying to goudge out his fathers brain.)
Storm - Wakaba Sayori (Fully Harmonized Upon Activation. The one Guardian you don't wanna piss off amongst the line-up. The one who actually has to explain Flame Fuckery to everyone.)
Cloud - Aidou Hanabusa (This is probably the least secure of her bonds because it happens in direct accordance with Shirabuki Sara trying to force a bond down her throat as a safety-net to keep her alive in case her plans fail. Hanabusa... yeah, he doesn't take it well.)
Rain - Ichiru Kiryuu (Who summarily survives this AU because there are exactly two ways to escape a Sky's harmony, and one of them is most definitely not fucking dying. Seriously. Latent Sky Instincts have Yuuki badgering this little idiot until he decides that Spite is only going to frustrate him in the long run. Kid is too afraid to die once Yuuki's flames go active, because he knows she will become a fully fledged necromancer in his honor.)

To think about it, the layers of incest is insane in VK and VKM.
⋆ Haruka and Juuri, each other's full-blooded siblings, in love with each other and married.
⋆ Rido in love with his sister, Juri, to the point of obsession.
⋆ Rido lusting after his own niece, Yuki, because she reminds him of Juuri, his sister.
⋆ Kaname, the Kuran ancestor, in love with Yuki, his descendant and foster sister, and vice versa.
⋆ Zero in love with and married to Yuki, his adopted sister, and vice versa.
⋆ Ai, Kaname and Yuki's biological daughter, in love with Zero, her step-father.
⋆ Ai in love with her half-sister Ren, who is Zero and Yuki's biological daughter, and vice versa.
⋆ Akatsuki and Ruka, who are second cousins, in love with and married to each other (compared to the rest, it's not that bad).
[I know that they are beasts and all and not humans, but this amount of incest is insane, lol].

[Vampire Knight] - The only one who could love you as you are
Tumblr media
Angstober: Day 10 - Can't go home (ao3 link)
Warning: this is a fic about a (mostly implied) messed-up family relationship between a father (uncle) and his daughter (niece). Please note the tags and proceed at your own discretion, even if a lot of the messed up things are implied here.
-
Summary: Sometimes, Yuuki isn’t even sure who revolves around whom—the two of them, like binary stars, encircling each other, consuming each other, unable to live without each other. But that’s alright, isn’t it?
After all, they were family.
(After all, he was the only one in the world who could love someone like her)
Note: I feel like this AU could be a whole-ass psychological horror multi-chap on its own. If Rido did do this in canon… It feels like he’d be extra dead if Kaname got his hands on him. I guess the good news here in this AU is that Juuri and Haruka aren't dead...? And I guess Zero's parents too maybe idk depends on how nice I feel.
--------
A sharp pain in her neck awoke her from slumber. But the doll-like girl didn’t even flinch, only calmly placing a hand on long, wild curls of mahogany hair—carding her fingers through it gently. She pressed the man’s head closer to her.
Though gentle as she was, the girl had nought a single expression on her porcelain features.
“Welcome home, Father.”
Blood trickled down her neck, staining her white nightdress. Nails dug into her skin, a heavy weight pressed down like iron blocks atop her. Her father gripped her tightly, with the desperation and ferocity of a parched man, unwilling to allow her to move. The familiar tightness in her chest was back, and ice travelled through her spine.
Like always, Yuuki simply ignored it, choosing to move her arms to cradle her father’s beautiful face, staring up at mismatched red and blue eyes. Red, like the blood that had left her, leaving her weightless and woozy.
“I’m back, Yuuki.”
-
These four walls never felt like home. At least, not in the way it seemed to be for the majority.
“Home”
A place in which Yuuki only ever read about in books, carefully picked or carelessly left around by her father. They were all papery facsimiles of the outside world, but for someone like her, who only knew dulled tones and dark walls—they were cherished, lovingly, and caringly kept. Anything her father gave her would be loved like so, because it was from her father.
(Because what if she did not and he left? What if he left her, all alone with only four walls and empty spaces to keep her company? He, her father. He, her world. He, the only person she had.
He had told her so, brushing her hair—”How dull it is, straight and flat like this.” His hand had ghosted near her collarbone, fingers just about to skim her chest. “But perhaps I shouldn’t be surprised…”
She had dared not speak, dared not move a muscle.
“It’s perfect for someone like you.”)
-
She tried to curl it, once, leaving her hair in thick braids during slumber; unravelling them to see waves completely unlike her father’s naturally wild ones. There wasn’t much to do within the fortress of their home, so Yuuki often had to make do with some improvisation. But she’d been so, so excited at the sight of even a hint of curl, hoping it’d elicit a compliment or even a gentle touch or two.
He’d taken one look at it and unceremoniously dunked her in a full bathtub.
“Didn’t you hear me properly? Or is it a case of your memory now, Dear? It’s perfect the way it is, for a child like you.” His tone had been scolding, annoyed. The memory of those words and the way his too-warm body hovered over her—-nearly skin-to-skin—-stuck to her brain like a parasite. Yuuki remembered the way his fingers moved between wet locks, the faint feeling of his nails ever so lightly scraping over her skin; how the water was ice cold, and the way her nightgown stuck to her, waterlogged and heavy, keeping her down like a ball and chain. The water was too cold, her body too warm, and everything had all felt like it was on the edge of a precipice—about to fall into an abyss.
Yuuki should’ve been only happy with those words. After all, was it not what everyone called “unconditional love”?
-
Yuuki wasn’t capable of much. This, she’d already known, even if the shattered plates and scattered food reflected this fact for the nth time. Tears trickled down her cheeks, as unwanted as they were. Staring down at the visual representation of her failure, Yuuki couldn’t bring herself to meet her father’s eyes. Vaguely through the broken fine china, she could only see blurred features—of what was most likely the same fondly exasperated look she’d always see time and time again.
And time and time again, all it ever did was make her feel small.
The broken pieces cracked further as her father’s neat leather shoes stepped on them, crushed underfoot. Large hands slipped under her arms as her father bent down to pull her up and away. Bare feet sank into glimmering shards, cutting her skin as Yuuki stumbled to balance herself. But her father offered no reprieve, only pulling her harder across the floor. The throbbing sting from her feet was but a footnote in her mind—barely even registering for Yuuki. Her own feelings pained her more than any physical pain ever could.
Still, her head would not move to meet her father’s mismatched gaze.
Her father sighed, “Aren’t you going to speak? Not even an apology for breaking the china? Yuuki, you should know by now that there’s no need for you to do anything as menial as making tea for me—especially when we both know how terrible you are at everything.” Clawed fingernails dug into her skin, easily breaking it to needle at the flesh underneath. “There are people for these kinds of things.” Closer still, their bodies became, by one step and another before they were just close enough for her father’s words to ring even louder in her ears.
(People whom Yuuki never saw, but only ever smelled—stinking, foul with a fear that permeated every inch of their bodies; saturated in the dust scattered around the house)
Suddenly, Yuuki was swept up into her father’s arms, tucked tight into his strong grasp. As he did so, Yuuki’s head was forced to lean against her father’s often bare chest. Perhaps it wasn’t good to reward herself when she erred, but Yuuki still allowed herself to sink into her father’s hold, listening to the steady beat of his heart. It was a loud, but reassuringly constant rhythm.
Down the stairs, they went, eventually ending up in Yuuki’s bedroom—a space full of frills and dolls, everything lovingly selected by her father; from the wallpaper to the bedsheets and her outfits. Gently, he proceeded to place her down on the soft bed, before leaving her. Only momentarily, for before she knew it, he was already beside her legs, picking out the embedded shards one by one. Almost immediately, blood began to trickle from her open wounds. The red was stark against her almost deathly pale skin.
Yuuki watched her father’s hands still, before shifting to place himself between her legs. A second passed. Two seconds. And then his tongue lapped over the blood trails, cleaning them, his expression almost euphoric, all while she stared and stared and stared.
And when he was finished, he practically lunged at her, pressing her flat against the bed, crushing their mouths together.
She could taste her blood on his lips.
-
His blood slid down her throat, caustic and bitter—it left a slimy, sour aftertaste in Yuuki’s mouth. Yet even so, she swallowed it down. Because it was a taste unique to her father, the taste of someone who loved her, and wanted her when no one else in the world would.
She’d read before that love (in its truest, purest form) was unconditional. So she drank it all down eagerly, even if it threatened to cause her to choke and her stomach to churn. Yuuki would even lick at his wrist, healing the wound he caused to himself for her benefit.
He loved her, and she loved him. It was a must.
-
“I’ll be back soon,” he said, cradling her to him before he left, even if it was only a short trip. Skin to skin, they touched, only separated by the clothes they wore. Wordlessly, she encircled his torso with her arms, once again listening to his heartbeat.
She hoped that one day, she’d burn that sound into her mind.
A pain in her neck came and went, and before Yuuki even realised it, she was already alone.
-
And so Yuuki waited. And waited. And waited. And waited and waited and waited and waited—
Her stomach growled. Her throat was sore. Her head was throbbing and she felt faint and energised all at the same time. She should go up the stairs, she should open the door, she should head outside, find her father and pray that he was alive and had not forgotten her—for better daughters, better family members, better than her in any way, shape, or form.
(She should not. It was one of his rules to never go outside, and never open the curtains.
But she wouldn’t be able to withstand it if he’d truly left her.)
A loud knock echoed through the halls, cutting through her train of thought like a sword to the heart.
Yuuki opened the door and—
“Who are you?”

Random thought, but I like it:
Have you ever thought why Haruka and Juuri named their son Kaname?
They’re the descendants of the great royal vampire clan that was founded by Kaname the Ancestor and, of course, they were familiarized with the history of their lineage. Usually in such families it is a tradition to give to children names of great progenitors, meaning by that the parents wish their newborn would be as honourable as their passed namesake ancestor.
So, though it wasn’t openly said in the manga, but it’s one of those things that lie on the surface and you’re supposed to make conclusion by yourself, so simple it is. Haruka and Juuri most likely named their baby in honour of Kaname, the first King. Which means a lot: Kaname was such a great, kind, brave and powerful king that Haruka and Juuri wanted their son to be like him. Kaname’s dignity and achievements were never forgotten in the vampire history, and the Kurans appreciated it so much.
It makes the situation even more tearjerking that Rido used this innocent baby as a blood bait to wake up the Ancestor. Kaname’s feelings of guilt were understandable, and it makes me cry with joy when I think about how Haruka and Juuri did everything for Kaname to know that they don’t blame him, it wasn’t his choice, it wasn’t his fault what happened to the poor baby. They treated him like their most precious and wonderful son, they felt no negativity and anger because they were mature enough to see what is what. And Kaname, being the great man he is, paid them similarly: he loved them as if they were his true parents.
