OH FUCKING BOY. First of all, yes. Season 1 Ethan is very different from seasons 2 and 3 Ethan bc he actually had a shit load of character development. In general though, Ethan has had a lot of practice at getting girls to fall for him. like a lot. like a nauseating amount /j but there are two things that really set you apart from his past flings. first of all, you didn't start out as friends with Kat, Ethan met you on his own terms. second, you really didn't fall for a lot of his games like other girls have. similarly to Logan Huntzberger, he's surprised when you treat your relationship as casually as he does. he's intrigued even. but what really gets Ethan to wake the fuck up and realize what a catch you are, how much he likes you and wants to hold onto you, is when he realizes that you're seeing other people too. he sees some guy from third year that he doesn't really know that well chatting you up, touching your arm and making you laugh. and he does not like it. not one bit. so when you show up to workshop the dance he's been choreographing as promised Ethan simply cannot focus on the steps or what a perfect choice you are. he thinks he can keep it together, but he's already letting his feelings slip out when you're warming up.

"So, you and Darren, huh?"

he thinks it sounds casual enough, but you see right through him (which is one of the reasons you're so perfect for him) so of course you just laugh.

"Ethan Karamakov," you chuckle, looking up at him, "are you jealous?"

he gets all blustery and denies it, but by the time you're done going over the choreo he's insisting you both stop seeing other people, and planning a proper date to take you out on this weekend, and the rest is history. and let me tell you, even though this is his first proper relationship, Ethan falls hard and fast for you. he gets so invested in you, in being the best boyfriend he possibly can. He really, really wants to do a good job, and it shows. what Ethan starts to realize what he loves so much about you is that you really don't scare easy. you're such a stable, consistent presence in his life, and it's something that means more to him than he can even describe. he gets so scared that Natasha or his dad will scare you off, but not even his... interesting family can do that. and full disclosure, Kat will probably not like you much at first, only because she doesn't want to fall into the pattern of getting attached to one of Ethan's girlfriends then having them leave when he acts like an asshole. but once she sees that Ethan is actually trying, that he's trying to be a better boyfriend, better brother, better person, when Kat sees that it looks like you're actually around to stay and not going flake at the first sign of trouble???? Congradulations, you now have both of the Karamakov siblings attached to you at the hip. Kat will periodically requisition you for much needed spur of the moment girl's days/shopping sprees (usually when her mom flakes), so now it's Ethan's turn to find out what it feels like to be stood up for a date. you barely have time to explain when Kat takes your phone out of your hand.

"uh yeah, Ethan? there's a sale so I'm stealing your girlfriend - who is waaaay out of your league, by the way-"

"Okay, thanks for that, Kat."

"anyway, you'll get her back later! bye-"

And under other circumstances sure, it would suck to be canceled on last minute, but it actually makes Ethan really happy when those days do happen. knowing that Kat is getting to spend time with someone who's both a positive influence AND is somewhat stable gives him a lot of peace of mind. besides, if Kat approves of you, he knows there must be something... real between you. and something real like that doesn't come around too often. he knows from experience.

okay so in season 2 when ben was introduced he had a small crush on kat but she told him she's into someone else and that was that they were friends from that they on. then ben's crush was never mentioned again he actually fell head over heels in love with tara (kat's best friend). after some relationship drama here and there (cuz tara is the protagonist) they broke up and yeah. so season 3 happens and it looks like ben and grace are about to get into a relationship grace says sth about not wanting to lose ben and so she needs to change as a person before anything can happen between them. then there's dance academy the comback. a movie. set a few years after season 3. no grace. there's some ben/tara chemistry again but she ends up with another guy who she's been into for all three seasons already. but whatever. at the end of the movie ben is in the hospital and kat visits him and they flirt a bit and then they hold hands and you're just like????? where does this come from???? this is totally out of the blue!!! like it was so obvious that they only did that to have another couple in the movie. but honestly they have no romantic chemistry like yes they're friends but that's it they don't fit together at all like can you feel my pain like this is so random and a lot of fans agree like this just seems forced like for real what do some movie directors think😭😭

They had been focused on ballet, nothing else mattered before they came to the Australian National Academy of Dance. But, after a few short weeks, the Karamakovs came into their life. The half-sibling dynamic duo swept (Y/N) up and into their wonderful cocoon of privileged ballet life. As the stepson and daughter of the Natasha Willis, Kat and Ethan were living in the height of luxury when it came to ballet. Exclusive backstage passes to every show Natasha was guest-starring in, a natural leg up in any field of the dance world they wanted to go into, whatever they wanted was at their fingertips.

‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎(Y/N) could have ignored it all, letting their friendship with Kat be more than just a surface attraction to the splendor that came with even knowing the Karamakov siblings, but then Ethan stepped in. He wanted to use (Y/N) in his original choreography, a new piece each week, creating excuses to be with them. Just as (Y/N) was entranced with the Karamakov’s lifestyle, Ethan was entranced by (Y/N)’s existence.

It started off as innocent lingering touches in the studio during an after-dark rehearsal, stolen glances across the common room in the dorms, sharing a muffin at the cafe before Kat could arrive. Then came the rehearsals of intense duets, ending chest to chest with one another, lips centimeters apart as their chests heaved with heavy breaths. For a while, (Y/N) could always push themselves away, turning their head and stepping away before they couldn’t resist any longer. Those few weeks between the innocent beginning and the insatiable prohibited romance that had grown to consume (Y/N) were pure hell.

Hiding in the shadows under the stairwells after class to steal a kiss as Kat clomped down the stairs above their heads, the adrenaline of getting caught while they pushed their luck as they giggled and continued to kiss kept things interesting. It became a game. A game to see how long they could go, how close they could get, to Kat finding out about them. It had even gone as far as stopping outside Kat’s dorm room one late night, the couple perched against the wall beside her door with their lips locked.

‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Like most personal rehearsal nights, (Y/N) and Ethan couldn’t keep their hands off of each other. The music had faded into the background as they lost themselves in one another, standing near the frontmost corner of the small studio. Ethan’s strong hands circled (Y/N)’s hips, pulling them in close as (Y/N) wove their fingers into Ethan’s soft golden locks. Their eyes were stuck on his crystalline blue ones, unable to leave his gaze even if they wanted to. They could never get over how clear his eyes were, almost transparent rather than blue in the dim lighting of the studio.

‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Ethan’s hands started to roam from (Y/N)’s hips to their waist, gently squeezing their skin and pulling at the t-shirt covering their body as he pushed their back against the mirror. Their noses bumped into each other as he did, earning breathless chuckles from the couple as they started to block out anything that wasn’t the other.

‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“We really shouldn’t do this here, Ethan,” (Y/N) sighed, licking their lips as they continued to run the tip of their nose along the length of Ethan’s. They knew that Ethan loved that, and the way his breath hitched when (Y/N) ghosted their lips over his only further proved their point.

‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Why not?” Ethan’s thick Australian accent was (Y/N)’s weakness, the huskiness of his voice at that moment driving them wild. “Isn’t it more fun when anyone can walk in, exposing our little secret in a single moment?”

‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎(Y/N) hummed, their fingers tightened in Ethan’s hair as his hands continued to rub up and down their waist, slowly sliding under their shirt. They had to agree, the thrill of being found out was something they couldn’t pass up. “You’re going to get us in so much trouble.”

‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“I can’t get us in trouble without you, sweets.” Ethan softly said, finally closing the distance between them and pressing his lips to (Y/N)’s in a heated kiss. (Y/N) made a surprised noise and tugged on his hair, pulling him closer to them. Ethan grinned into the kiss, earning the confidence to deepen it by nipping at their bottom lip, pulling it between his teeth before letting it go. “How about we take this back to mine?”

‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎(Y/N) paused, their fingertips lightly scratching Ethan’s scalp. It had been a couple of months since (Y/N) and Ethan started dating, and things were moving fast, but not that fast. Did they want to? Were they even ready?

‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Ethan leaned in and placed another gentle kiss on their lips, his thumbs rubbing small circles on their waist. Every thought in (Y/N)’s mind ceased and they were suddenly nodding, eager to continue what they were doing in the privacy of Ethan’s single room. Another perk of being Natasha Willis’ stepson -- if he wanted a single dorm room, he got one.

It wasn’t until they neared the third year hallway that they realized where they were. Kat’s door was right beside them, cracked open with a Myles Kelly song floating through.

In Dance Academy Grace was absolutely right in exposing that Kat was talking to Christian. Yeah she did it for the wrong reasons, but Kat was totally in the wrong and the fact that she was hiding it from Tara proves it. I hated this plot line because it seriously made me dislike Kat.
