Spending four years with Alanna really rubbed off on Neal. I know he's exhausted at the end of Lady Knight, but the way he harps on Kel for daring to get injured strikes me as very Lioness of him

Kelly Severide- A New Baby Pt1
Tumblr media
I never thought I'd get married and have kids. I just didn't think that I would ever find a man I'd consider having that kind of life with, but when Kelly Severide stepped into my life everything change. We didn't meet in the best of way. He's a fireman and I'm a police dog handler. There had been a bombing and they asked me to send my search and rescue dogs in. I fell for the guy there and then.
5 years on and we are married and have a beautiful daughter who's just turned 3 named Harper.
Today I woke up feeling off. Headache and nausea on and off. I have today off from work which is fantastic, but also my daughter is here and as much as I love her she can be an absolute nightmare
"Harper can you pick your toys up please"
"No thank you mommy" at least she's using her manners right?
"Harper. Daddy won't be happy when he comes home"
"Daddy loves me so he won't shout" Harper shrugs and she's right. She's a daddy's girl and she has him wrapped round her little finger. I'm always the bad guy and that's fine this is our dynamic, but sometimes it would be good to get a little help off him
"Right come on pick the toys up before someone hurts themselves"
"But I'm playing with them mommy"
"Harper I'm not feeling very well so please pick up your toys. I'll help, but your not getting anything else out until these toys are put away"
"Fine" Harper shouts and I rub my head as a headache begins again.
Once all the toys have been picked up I sit down on the couch and close my eyes for a moment
"Mommy?"
"Yes princess?" I open one eye to look at her
"When's dinner?"
"When daddy gets home"
"When's that?"
"Soon" I reply "I'm going to take a nap. You know the rules"
"Don't unlock the door and daddy has a key to get in. Can I play upstairs?"
"Yes, but don't run"
Before I know it I'm being woken up by Kelly's voice and touch. I open my eyes and see Kelly smiling at me
"When did you get home?" I yawn
"Just. How long have you been asleep?"
"Not long" I reply glancing at the clock "how was work today?"
"The usual, how was Harper?"
"Giving me hell"
"You made any supper?"
"No not yet" I shake my head
"I'll order us some food instead. What do you fancy?"
"To be honest Kel, I don't feel to good. Think I might be coming down with something. Just order yourself and Harper something"
"You need to eat. Even if it's just some rice or something"
"Ok" I give in to Kelly.
Once our food has arrived we all sat down together. I take small bites of food and small sips of water
"So Harper. Have you been a good girl for mommy today?" Kelly asks. Harper lowers her head a little
"I wasn't naughty and mommy has been lazy today"
"Mommy said she isn't feeling very well so you need to be a big girl and help her"
"But..."
"No buts. Now eat your food and then it's bath then bed time"
"Fine" Harper pouts and takes her time eating her tea trying to make her bedtime later.
Once the Harper is in bed me and Kelly curl up on the sofa together watching TV. I swallow feeling more and more nauseous until I can't keep it down any more and the urge to throw up over comes me. I jump off the couch and run to the downstairs bathroom, Kelly following behind me.
Once I finish throwing up Kel and I head upstairs to bed
"You feeling any better?" Kelly asks as I change into one of his shirts
"Yeah. The nauseas gone now. Im just super tired. I've had a headache all day so its probably that that's made me sick"
"Maybe your pregnant" Kelly says. I roll my eyes at him
"I'm not pregnant"
"Are you sure because we're not very carful" Kelly states and to be fair he's got a point "you've been tired all week. We said if you were to get pregnant we'd be happy"
"Of course I would be, but had my period 2 weeks ago"
"Could be 2 weeks pregnant"
"Kel I'm not pregnant" I sigh getting into bed
"This is exactly what you were like with Harper"
"If it makes you feel any better I'll take a test tomorrow"
"Ok" Kelly kisses the top of my head and then wraps his arm around my waist and we both fall asleep.

Peace- Matt Casey and Kelly Severide
Summary: Matt is having a hard time adjusting days after his encounter with Voight. You and Kelly are more than concerned, so you take things into your own hands. It may be extreme, but you are going with your last resort.
WARNINGS: possible spoilers for early CF, drinking mentioned, vomiting mentioned, violence eluted to
———————————
You and Kelly were worried about Matt. When you guys were at the station, Matt was putting in an effort to seem normal around the house. All though everyone could see past his façade, seeing as he was working Truck to the bone and short tempered, but nobody dared to say a thing. You and Kelly sat in the ambulance together, seeing as it was your ambulance as PIC, watching Matt run drills with Truck.
“What do we do?” Kelly finally broke the silence that had been sitting between the two of you for 20 minutes. Kelly normally knew how to deal with Matt, sometimes better than you and he was normally the point person for situations like this, but he was at as much of a loss as you.
“I don’t know Kel.” You whispered, reaching across to take his hand. “Voight did a number on him. He feels like he has to be ready and on the defense all the time. I don’t know how to reverse that.” You shook your head, squeezing Kelly’s hand.
“Yeah. My main concern is his change at home.” Kelly began, shifting toward you. “He hasn’t slept in three days, he stays on the couch while we sleep, but claims he eventually falls asleep there and is too sore to sleep with us. He barely eats or drinks anything. He never relaxes. He’s gonna run himself down or kill himself at this rate.” Kelly rambled. “It’s like we aren’t together anymore. I don’t know who he is.” Kelly wiped at the tears that were pouring down his face.
You looked up and made eye contact with Matt. You knew he saw this whole thing. You knew that even though he couldn’t hear what was being said, he knew what was going on. You ignored him in favor of the other man you loved, who was asking you for help right now.
“Baby.” You whispered, pulling Kelly into a hug. “We just have to give him time. It’ll be okay.” You said, rubbing Kelly’s back. “I’ll make it okay.”
——————————Time Skip—————————
You knew you were being extreme. You knew that if you needed Matt, he would come through. You also knew that if you got drunk, you would more than likely have a nightmare.
Around 3 am, just 3 hours after returning home from Molly’s, you laid asleep in Kelly’s arms. Matt had helped Kelly get you into bed before making sure that you and Kelly would be okay for the night. All three of you had been drinking, Matt was barely buzzed, Kelly was pretty tipsy, but you were trashed. You kept stealing shots from the bar (which you own in part), secretly going through with the plan you had plotted. Both boys were unaware of your plan or how much you had to drink. They never questioned it, just fell into caretaker mode.
You went from having a peaceful sleep to thrashing in Kelly’s arms. You flailed, smacking Kelly in the chest and waking him up. He realized what was happening pretty quickly once he heard you hyperventilating.
“Matt!” Kelly yelled out, reaching over to turn the light on.
Running could be heard coming up the stairs. Matt wasn’t sure what to expect as he took the stairs two at a time. When he stood in the doorway of the bedroom, he saw Kelly straddling your waist and you flailing beneath him.
“What’s wrong?” Matt asked, grabbing the trash can by the door before sitting next to you and Kelly on the bed.
“She’s having a nightmare. She’s drank and had bad ones before, but she won’t wake up Matt.” Kelly grunted, taking another blow from your flailing form.
“Let me try. Watch out Kels.” Matt said. Once Kelly was off of you, they could see the difference almost immediately. You started calming down pretty quickly, but still didn’t open your eyes. Matt moved closer, placing a hand on the side of your face. “Baby. Wake up for me. It’s okay.” Matt said stroking a thumb over your cheek bone. Matt repeated this for a few more minutes, watching as you slowly started coming around before your eyes fluttered open. Tears immediately started pouring down your face.
“Matt.” You gasped, pulling him into a hug. “You. You died.” You breathed out, clutching onto him in fear of losing him.
“I’m right here.” Matt whispered, rubbing your back and looking at Kelly over your shoulder. Kelly shook his head, sending Matt a look of disappointment.
“I don’t feel well.” You groaned, pulling back from Matt and covering your mouth.
“Here sweetie. Just breathe.” Matt said, handing you the trash can he grabbed. Kelly climbed up behind you, taking your hair in his hands. Once he was sure he had a grip, he leaned forward and steadied the trash can for you.
“Why did you do this hunny?” Kelly whispered, kissing the side of your head. “You know that this happens.”
You looked up at Matt and that was all the answer Kelly needed.
“This is on you.” Kelly seethed.
Just as Matt was about to ask how it was his fault, you heaved into the trash can and all the attention was on you. You gasped and panted around another few dry heaves before you started puking.
“It’s okay baby. It’s alright. We are right here.” Matt said, holding your hand and rubbing your arm. “Just let it out. You’ll feel better soon.”
“It’s okay sweetheart. I’m right here. I’ve got you.” Kelly said, trying to keep his anger at bay knowing that Matt was the underlying cause of this.
After a few minutes, the vomiting finally ceased and you were just left hyperventilating. Kelly pulled you back into him, wiping your face with his shirt, and left Matt to deal with the trash can. You still felt very buzzed and you couldn’t get your thoughts in order.
“Baby. Breathe.” Kelly said, rocking you slightly and holding you close.
“Matt. I—.” You tried to tell Kelly what you needed, but couldn’t find the words. “You. Both of you.” You managed to get out, hoping that you were making some sense to your boyfriend.
“Matt!” Kelly called. “Come here and bring a wet cloth and mouth wash, please!” Kelly yelled, knowing exactly what you needed without needing to properly hear the words.
Matt came rushing in minutes later. He had the fresh trash can in hand, mouth wash, water, wet cloth, pain meds, and a small snack in his hand. “Here baby. Wash your mouth out, drink, eat, and take some medicine before you go back to sleep.” Matt said, sitting beside you and wiping your face before placing the rag on the back of your neck.
“Thanks.” You whispered, finally coming down from your panic attack as Matt and Kelly both tended to you. You washed your mouth out before drinking some water and eating a few pretzels.
“You gonna tell him?” Kelly asked, knowing exactly what happened now.
“Tell me what?” Matt asked, perplexed to say the least.
“I miss you.” You said, shaking your head and putting your pretzels down. “And I’m worried about you.”
“Oh baby.” Matt said, reaching up to cup your face. “You could have said something.”
“I know and I feel like we’ve tried.” You mumbled, refusing to look him in the eyes. “But you’ve been dealing with so much and I didn’t want to be a burden by pressing the issue.”
Kelly scoffed, rolling his eyes at Matt and snuggling you closer at the same time. “You could never be a burden. Ever.” Kelly emphasized. “You are the best thing that has happened to us and the best part of us.”
You nodded, silently crying. You knew this had gone too far, but you didn’t see any other way to get him to stop for just a minute. “Hold me?” You asked, reaching for Matt.
Matt nodded and laid down next to Kelly. Kelly helped you crawl over Matt and into the empty side of the bed before laying himself down behind Matt. Matt was trapped between you and Kelly, just like you had wanted. You and Kelly held Matt tightly as Matt clutched you in his arms.
After a few minutes, Matt let out a long, slow breath.
“You okay?” Kelly asked Matt, rubbing his arm and leaning down to kiss the top of his head.
“Yeah.” Matt sighed. “Yeah I am.” Matt chuckled lightly and snuggled further back into Kelly. “The voices are finally quiet.”
You turned your face up to look at him. “The voices?” You asked, wondering if you were hearing him right.
“Yeah.” Matt murmured. “Ever since the Voight thing happened, I just hear his threats in my head. Then I hear all sorts of thoughts about how you guys will never be safe with me around or how the other shoe could drop at any moment. I can’t sleep or think straight. I’m so tired.” Matt said, crying into your hair as you snuggled into him.
“Matty.” Kelly murmured. Any trace of anger or negative feelings against Matt quickly vanished.
“Sleep then.” You murmured. “Everything is fine. Jay has an undercover car on us at all times. He’s personally tracking Voight. We are safe. You are safe. Please rest.” You pleaded, trying your best to convince your boyfriend.
“Promise you’ll be here when I wake up?” Matt asked. “Both of you?” He tilted his head back and Kelly kissed his forehead.
“We aren’t going anywhere.” Kelly murmured against Matt’s forehead.
“Just sleep.” You whispered, lazily rubbing shapes into Matt’s chest while he finally fell into a much needed sleep.

“It’ll Be The Last Time” - Matty Healy x F!Reader
Part 3
Masterlist: .°˖✧ Word Count: 2341 Warnings: angst, angst, and more angst, this whole series will have so much angst, also alcohol, smoking, drug use/mentions and a little smut as a treat xx also if you think any of my fics will include an accurate timeline of real life events then you're on crack
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Series Summary: “You’ve known Matty since you were 14 and the boy has never failed to get on your last nerve, but over the years you two end up having unexplainable moments where you can’t help but feel you two are connected in a way you’ll never feel with anyone else, until one night he tells you something that may change how you view the boy forever…”
January 13th 2011
It's almost midnight and you're about to give a small speech in honor of the album, you're off to the side of the DJ Booth with Kelsey and the boys, well all except for Matty who still hasn't said a word to you in the hour that he's been here, you're both thankful and a little disappointed. Ross rubs your shoulders as Kels gives you the traditional best friend motivation spiel, you can't help but smile as you take in all the love and support from your favorite people, just as she finishes the DJ fades the music out and introduces you to the crowd, it's your turn to take the stage, as you walk on and take the mic your group cheers loudly.
"Haha yes thank you. Um, hello! I'm y/n l/n and I'm sorry to the club goers who are about to be subjected to my sad music, I promise some of them have at least an upbeat tune, and it's good music, well I think so anyway, some may say otherwise-"
"IT'S FUCKIN BRILLIANT!" George yells from the side.
"Oh lord, that's my dear friend George so he's a little biased, but thank you love. Anyway this album means a lot to me really, it's a collection of very personal songs, some that I've been working on probably years now. A lot of teenage angst went into this album which I think you'll be able to tell, and uhh, god I'm actually so nervous." You try to take even breaths as the crowd cheers you on.
"Right, so as a surprise I'm actually going to be performing my personal favorite song on the album, which I actually began writing at 18 and have been tweaking over the years, George the lovely fellow actually did the drums on this song cause I knew I wanted a good percussion track. Give him a round of applause as well." You pause and clap along with everyone else looking at him, he gives a small wave as you introduce the song. "Anyway this is Decode off of With Your Permission."
George enters the stage and takes a seat at the drums as the guitar starts you in, you look up to the crowd and make direct eye contact with Matty who stands perfectly centered in the small crowd, arms still tightly wrapped around the girl he brought, you feel your stomach turn.
How can I decide what's right? When you're clouding up my mind I can't win your losing fight All the time-
The crowd actually goes wild at the beginning of the song, the song which you'd been so worried no one would like or understand, but they're actually loving it. The confidence builds up inside you as you continue singing, Matty has stopped looking at you as this point and is violently making out with the girl as you approach your best verse, the verse about him.
-The truth is hiding in your eyes And it's hanging on your tongue Just boiling in my blood-
You're staring at him as he looks up at the perfect time for the song to make an impact on him.
-But you think that I can't see What kind of man that you are If you're a man at all Well, I will figure this one out
On my own (I'm screaming, I love you so) On my own (But my thoughts you can't decode)-
Kelsey is going crazy screaming along because of course you showed your best friend the songs beforehand, you'd never put anything out without her approval, her opinion is the only one in the world that really matters, the drum line intensifies as you begin to finish out the song.
-There is something I see in you It might kill me, I want it to be true
You're done and the crowds is cheering non-stop, George jumps up from his spot and rushes over scooping you up in his arms, he gives your cheek a kiss as he spins you around, soon Kelsey, Ross and Adam have also joined you on stage in a giant group hug of praise.
You're laughing as you try to bring the mic back up to your mouth. "And these are my amazing best friends, as you can see I have a wonderful support system, thank you all for listening, here is the rest of With Your Permission!" The DJ starts the next track as you all exit the stage.
You're all making your way over to your seating area, fresh drinks waiting for you at the table, but so is someone.
"Good performance, interesting song choice." Matty speaks up from his seat, the girl he was with nowhere to be seen.
"Thanks." Is all you can manage to say, George's arm around your waist tightens ready to defend you if he said anything rude.
"I got you a dirty shirley." Matty uses the tips of his fingers to push it towards you as you take a seat. "Still your favorite right?"
You give him a small smile, his tone sounds almost sad, but kind. "Always will be."
The rest of your friends sit, you've ended up between Matty and Kelsey in the rounded booth, and the conversation starts up easily. It feels like no time has passed when you're all together, like no matter what happens between anyone, the group will survive. Adam says something about some guy who he noticed has been pacing the bar back and forth hitting on every girl he can, and everyone laughs, noticing all his failed attempts. Matty adjusts his sitting position and his thigh rubs against yours and you take a sharp breath in at the close contact, no one really notices, no one except Matty of course who's turned to look at you, you can't help but look back at him.
He smiles at you. "So Decode?"
"Oh lord, not this." You laugh a little and put your face in your hands.
"No, no, it's good, bloody brilliant really. I reckon it'll be stuck in my head for a few weeks." He sounds flirty, and with all the alcohol in your system you can't really help but enjoy it.
"Yea?" George speaks up from the other end of the booth. "You should really listen to Under The Table, haven't gotten it out of my head since I first heard it."
"Ross has had to deal with me constantly playing the Like Real People do track you sent me on repeat for the last month, absolutely my favorite!" Kelsey gushes to you.
"Personally I say How Do I Tell You? is the best but I might be biased cause I helped with the guitar on it." Adam pipes in as well.
You smile big at all your friends singing their praise for your music.
"You've all heard them before?" Matty asks, sounding a little hurt.
Summer 2006:
It's a cold night, you've got a thick black cardigan wrapped around you as you sit on your front steps, smoking a joint you'd swiped from George the last time you'd seen him, which had been a while ago now. A few weeks after the party you two had decided to call off your situationship, nothing bad it was mutual, you both decided the weird tension the whole party ordeal had caused was too much, he was still one of your best friends. Everyone had staged a makeshift "intervention" for you, George and Matty to get over the whole thing, and it had gone surprisingly well, well enough that you were actually sat waiting for Matty to pick you up for a party. Kelsey had taken Ross on a trip with her family to Ireland, Adam was visiting with his dad's side of the family, and George had gone to California with his, so you and Matty had been trying to fill the gaps in your social life together.
You finish the joint as you see Matty's van pull up outside, you toss the end of the joint down and stub it out with your boot as you stand up making your way around the car to the passenger side, you hop in and Matty is looking at you with a huge grin on his face.
You look at him weird and laugh. "What's with the serial killer smile?"
"I have a surprise for you, but you have to wait till the party." He says turning forward and pulling out of your driveway as you buckle yourself in.
"Honestly terrified of what you have up your sleeve." You try to reach forward to change the radio station but Matty smacks your hand.
"Hey! Anyway you shouldn't be scared, in fact you should be kissing my fucking ass." He smirks still watching the road.
"Oh yeah?" You ask, raising an eyebrow. "And why is that Matthew?"
"Well you see June Bug." You groan at the nickname. "I happen to get my hands on something you've been dying to try."
You whip your head towards him, eye wide. "No! No you did not! Don't lie to me right now, I will be so mad if you're messing with me."
"Glove compartment." He winks at you.
You don't waste a second, you quickly open the compartment and resting inside on top of random papers and a car manual is a small baggie with white powder inside, you squeal and try to reach for it as Matty smacks your hand again.
"I said to wait till we're at the party!" He says seriously.
"But whyyyyy?" You whine.
"Cause it'll be your first time and I need to make sure we're safe before you ingest a drug you've never tried before."
You roll your eyes at him. "Don't say that like it's not your first time too."
"Well, actually-" He starts.
"Matthew Timothy Healy! You promised we'd try it together!" You pull out the puppy dog eyes.
"Listen love, I needed to make sure it wasn't janky coke, I didn't want it to kill you or something, needed to know what we were getting into so I could be sure you'd be okay." You smile at that.
"Oh Matty." You say leaning your head on his shoulder. "Always my knight in shining armor, the man who cares about me the most."
"Oh fuck off." He laughs, shrugging you off his shoulder.
He parks the car down a side street and grabs the baggie before you two make your way into the party, not one of Josh's this time, but a friend of his that he'd invited you both to, who also happened to live in a GIANT house, bigger than Matty's even. You both opt to do shots before anything else, you mention needing to be intoxicated to deal with the awful choice of music, Matty smiles and agrees with you taking your hand and dragging you to the kitchen to find something.
After a few vodka shots he grabs a 6 pack of ciders and you both made your way to one of the, what you assume is, many bathrooms, you enter and lock the door setting up camp for the events that are about to take place. You crack open two ciders as Matty sets up two lines on the counter and rolls up a one pound note.
"Okay so basically-" He starts to explain.
"I know how to do it Matty, we've seen it in movies plenty of times." You interrupt.
"Right, sorry I forgot movies are the best form of education, miss know-it-all, but whatever there is one thing you need to know, the drip back is awful so prepare for a bad taste in the back of your throat." He then takes his line and tilts his head back.
He hands the rolled up note to you and presents the line to you like an absolute dork, you turn to the counter and take your turn, tilting your head back afterwards like he had. He was right, the taste was god awful, but the feeling overshadowed the taste, you turn to him eyes wide.
"Holy fuck." Is all you say and he starts laughing. "No I'm serious Matthew this is fucking awesome."
"Yea?" He asks, smiling at you.
"Yes, god I could kiss you right now." You laugh.
He just stares at you smiling, and you can't help but smile at him even larger, you're both just sitting on the bathroom floor now, staring and giggling at each other, smiles never leaving your faces. You both take another line and afterwards you reach for a second cider, you drink trying to wash the taste out and some of it drips down the side of your mouth, as you set the can down Matty's hand comes up to your face to wipe off the liquid, his thumb slightly touches the corner of your mouth and it's like the same switch had been flipped as it had at the dance.
In seconds you two are on each other like rabbits in heat, but it's not fast paced, in fact it's almost antagonizing how slow it is, but it's amazing nonetheless, like if what you felt with him the first time you kissed times ten. Your mouths moved in perfect sync, the taste of his tongue on yours was almost as addicting if not more than the high you both had. He quickly scoops you up and sets you up on counter and pulls you forward so your bodies are flush against one another, one hand now on you jaw as his other has made its way up your leg and under your skirt, his thumb rubbing at your inner thigh, you can feel the wetness pooling in your underwear as he pulls away to breath.
"Fuck- Matty." You whine.
"Yea baby? What do you want?" He asks, his lips making their way to the crook of your neck.
"You, want you." Your hand tugs on his curls and he moans.
His hand toys with the edge of your underwear as he speaks. "Then have me June Bug."
Part 4 (coming soon-ish)
a/n: whelp here it is, sorry for the smut tease i couldn't help it, i promise the next part will have actual smut, anyway past Matty and reader have reconciled! but future Matty and reader are still iffy but who knows?? huh? anyway a chapter to end the night xx

okay so I‘M FINALLY READING SWORD CATCHER AND I HAVE THOUGHTS
I‘m only about halfway through but I need to rant
- it‘s incredible how well cassie manages to lend a unique voice to each of her characters every single time. she just doesn’t miss does she?
- lin caster is the awesomest girl. i just love her because she reminds me of other cc girls in the way that she is kind of a very typical heroine on the surface but you can actually feel her emotions and she’s very believable & flawed & human and you just can’t help rooting for her + i love her friendship with mariam
- everyone is bisexual & it’s completely normalised i love it here
- lin & conor??? apparently they are the flagship which I know because I took a peek at the tag after they had two scenes together because the ENERGY OMG
- ahh yes, conor 😌 another pretty man with issues who’s in a lot of trouble and likes to cover it up with sarcasm, pompous behaviour, fancy clothes & vanity- you just can’t help but love it
- but also he‘s the biggest prick and i want him to have some sense beat into him by everyone around him
- like he qualifies for a huge growth arc but it could also go downhill and turn into sth ugly
- anyone had a weird sense of déjà vu about him and lin after that one little excerpt about adessa and suleman? like, she’s an ashkar with probably immense magical potential let’s be real i see where this is going and he‘s a prince (future king) with marivent blood 🤔🤔🤔
- conor‘s frat boy posse make my blood boil- especially with the way they talked about antonetta in that one scene 🤢🤮
- falconet is the nicest one by far but he‘s sus as hell i know he’s up to sth 🤨 but i rly wanna like him 😭
- the ragpicker king is just a cool dude who dresses emo and has people murdered on the regular i guess i love him. he’s hot. - kaz energy but also very different at the same time. can‘t wait to see more of him. and there’s def more to him.
- also no, andreyen, i don‘t understand either what people mean about ji-an having an off putting manner i‘m pretty convinced she‘s never done anything wrong in her entire life 💗except for the murder what murder
- kel can only be described as a calmly unhinged cinnamon roll. he reminds me a little of james (especially with his „mask“) but if you orphaned him & janked up the loyalty & sluttiness by a hundred
- like fr he is so confused just running around threatening and/or kissing people wtf 😭✋🏼 he just has chemistry with everyone he interacts with lol
- kel & conor remind me of matthew & james but if there was a big power imbalance and a everything is a little more fucked up 🙃
- generally the way power & power dynamics are portrayed and handled is very interesting i like it
- antonetta has my entire heart ❤️
- I need more of her but as an individual not just through kel‘s pov, so far i’m not very big on whatever is being hinted at with her and kel
- I adore merren just like everyone else, he‘s kind of giving a weird mix of christopher/matthew/wylan and I‘m here for it. plus: autism coded character yeass
- also nice to see some jewish rep. (i did not know cassie was jewish before lol) the ashkar are really interesting (& as far as their treatment by the rest of the world goes at times infuriating😤) to read about and add a lot of depth to the world building.
- i love how we see the complexities of their culture portrayed through lin who on the one hand is deeply ingrained in it and holds/has received a lot of love & care for/from her own people while also having been wronged & ostracised by them and how both can be true simultaneously
- as someone who‘s very familiar with multiple romance languages the languages in this book are incredibly entertaining to me
- SO MANY SECRETS & political intrigue hehehe rubbing my little hands together can’t wait for all this to escalate (because it most certainly will) 😈
bottom line
I’m really glad i finally started reading this.
it took me a while to get into it & I’m still holding out on a final judgement since it seems very slow but i’m a patient reader and i appreciate a good setup.
also I want a creepy black crocodile pool in my house now.

His bestfriend and crush. You and Kel has been trying to get him out from the house these past couple of years and neither of you are giving up trying to get him outside. In the end all of the efforts finally start to pay off, Sunny finally came out from his personal bubble and tried to reconnect with his old friends.
You were having a sleepover at his house, Kel and Hero wanted to share this moment one last time before Sunny move away leaving them all behind. It honestly made you upset but you try to ignore this pained heart in your chest.
Sunny woke up covered in sweats all over his body, he started crying silently not knowing somebody was up at that hour. You just came back from the bathroom finding only a sobbing Sunny on his bed, trying to wipe his tears away. Sunny was shocked seeing you there but was also embarrassed to have you seen him in this state, he still has a huge little crush on you and he thinks that he is weak for crying over a nightmare. You quickly rushed into his side and asking him what’s wrong, he was touched on how much of a gentle person you are and it made him even more guilty about killing the person you loved. He asked you on why would you help a monster such as himself? why are you so nice to him? why- just why?! he hates himself for it. He killed Mari. Basil loved her and he killed her, Aubrey loved her and he killed her, Kel loved her and he killed her, Hero loved her and he killed her, He loved her and he killed her, You… y o u loved her and yet he killed her. He hate this, he hate the fact that you made him feel loved, he hate the fact that he had lied to you, he hate the fact that-
“O..oh god.. Sunny, why are you crying..? please don’t cry.. i am here for you.”
You hugged him close, he starts to cry even more on your shoulder and yet you just let him be. Once he finally calmed down, you asked him about his nightmare but ofcourse you told him that if he doesn’t want to that’s totally okay. But eventually he told you about it, you were honestly concerned about the nightmare. It felt like it wasn’t just an ordinary nightmare, it felt so real it has so many details that no dreams or nightmares should have. But you didn’t pay any mind into it though, finding Sunny’s feelings more important than the dream. You told him reassuring words that we would never leave him alone again, you would never leave him alone again. Trying to soothe him more you started to rub circles around his back while still hugging eachother. You also had a crush on him since you first met him if you were going to be honest. His presence alone made your heart and body calm bringing a smile onto your face.
“It’s okay to cry, it’s okay to make mistakes. You are not perfect, and i am too.”

The scenario depends on who specifically is falling out.
Sunny used to fall out of bed often and had those bed railings as a kid, that's one of the reasons why he liked to climb into Mari's bed, to keep him from falling out.
It has gotten better with time, but he still does it from time to time. He refuses to put up the railings again since it doesn't happen that often anymore, maybe once or twice a month?
Sunny often sleeps on his side, so he usually rolls out onto his back or his face. Either isn't fun.
If he rolls out onto his back, it will hurt for a little while. He had a lot less trouble falling back asleep if he fell onto his back than on his face. If it hurt too much, he would take one of the heating pads that were in one of the closets.
If he rolls out onto his face, well that's a whole other problem. 9 times out of 10 he would wake up with a bleeding nose. He used to have an ice pack for it but lost it.
You never really fell out of bed, it happened maybe once in your childhood? Sunny knew this and was secretly a little jealous.
You were having a sleepover with Sunny at your place, you two were asleep, cuddling. It seems like he was holding you for dear life.
Did I mention that Sunny moves around a lot in his sleep? He also finds it comfortable to sleep in weird positions. Like he would be sideways, his foot on the pillow, his arm off the bed. He only started doing this recently.
Anyways, I hope you know where this is going.
You both were sleeping on your sides, Sunny had his foot up against your back. Something in his dream caused him to move and whoops! Kicked you off the bed.
You landed face first with an "OW!" that immediately woke Sunny up. He looked over the edge of the bed and was confused since you said you never fall off the bed. He didn't even realize that he kicked you.
He went down to help you, it seemed like you had a rough fall. He made sure that you weren't hurt too bad and then helped you back onto the bed. He didn't say anything to you except an "Are you okay?" And a "Are you sure?"
He wasn't one to brag about it, that was something Kel would do, not him. He probably would take extra precautions to make sure you didn't fall out again like trying not to take up to much space
After your good nights, Sunny made sure to hold you extra tight that night just in case you fell out again, unknowing to him that he kicked you out.
If Sunny is the one falling out, like said before, it would depend if he fell on his face or his back.
You helped him with his nosebleeds, you taught him a few tricks from your childhood to make them stop quicker. The average time that it would stop would be around 15-20 minutes, so you just sat there and comforted him since he didn't like getting nosebleeds.
You would help him with his back, gentle rubbing, getting a heating pad or if it wasn't too rough of a fall, you two would go back to bed.
But every time one of you fell out of bed, the other would hold tighter in hopes of that never happening again.

Thank you so much for reading! I've been trying to get requests done and I only have 2 more, but I also have a part 2 to finish. I've also been working on that Niko Oneshot thing and instead of 2, it might have 3-4 parts, trying to split up the areas. I hope you all have a great day/night and happy pride!
Lots of Love -Niko🥞

Four More Years (ch 4/5)
Just posted the very emotional culmination of my sweet & silly lil Omori timeskip and now I am unraveled, incapacitated, generally bereft. If you enjoy dopamine please consider swinging by. Text preview below, story link below that!
At 10:34 PM, there’s a friendly patter on the door. Sunny wrenches it open with relief.
Kel looks tired, his smile a little faded. But he still brightens when he sees Sunny. “Hey, buddy! What’s going on? You miss me?”
“Yes. A lot.”
Kel looks surprised, and then pleased. “Pfft, well. Hey. Back at you.” He peers over Sunny’s shoulder. “...Where is everyone?”
“Gone. Having a nice night.”
“Aw,” Kel laughs, not unsympathetic. “And they left you all alone?”
Sunny nods grimly.
“Aw, Sunny!!! I woulda come sooner if I knew you were all on your lonesome!”
“It’s okay,” sighs Sunny, who’s being extremely brave. “I’m glad you’re here.”
When Kel grins, the fatigue washes off him a little. He smells a little like a sports bar and a lot like the YMCA, sweat and bleach and rubber. His hair is tied in a scruffy half-ponytail but a few locks have pulled loose, curling around his chin. He makes the whole room feel warmer.
But he also looks tired. Or… not tired exactly. He feels muted, his natural glow slightly dimmed. More than you’d expect from just getting worn out on the court. His smile isn’t lying, but it’s only about 80% honest. Maybe he’s taking the loss harder than usual?
Sunny grabs Kel by the wrist, yanks him toward one of the kitchen stools. “Are you okay?”
“Huh? Yeah, for sure! Why wouldn’t I be?”
Sunny shrugs. You tell me.
“It is all good, dude! I’m just, uh…” Kel’s left hand finds the back of his neck. “...I dunno. Probably a little tired. Sorry! I didn’t mean to kill the mood.”
Sunny has been having a neutral-to-poor night. If any mood could be flushed out of the brush, it deserved to be shot. “Don’t worry about it.”
Kel grins sheepishly, still rubbing the back of his neck.
Sunny’s frown deepens. Kel isn’t as obvious as Basil, but he’s nowhere near as sly as Hero. He’s obviously feeling down about something. But of course he’ll never bring it up.
That’s fine. Talking isn’t what either of them does best. Sunny gives Kel’s wrist a last squeeze and pads over to the French press.
“Sunny?? It’s—” Kel glances at the clock on the wall, a cracked wheel of oxidized copper that shouts a different birdcall every hour. “—10:40 at night???”
“It’s okay,” Sunny tells him. “It’s decaf.”
Kel watches, looking increasingly delighted, as Sunny brews a half a pot of decaf and then pulls out a carton of orange juice. He pours half of one and half of the other into his thermos, a tall black mug with a screw-on lid. But he doesn’t hand it over. He takes one sip and grimaces, mostly to make Kel laugh. Then he slips it into Basil’s backup backpack.
“Are we going on an adventure?” Kel really must be tired. He sounds almost as wary as he does excited.
“Just a small one.”
Sunny’s been saving this caper for a rainy day. Ideally, he would have scoped out the roof of his complex months ago. But Basil’s anxiety can be very occasionally inconvenient when exposed to even mildly life-threatening peril. The route Sunny scouted isn’t an escalator with a guardrail, but it’s not a particularly tricky climb. Basil just isn’t in the demographic.
Taking a page from Basil’s book, Sunny dumps a few more treats into the backpack, more or less at random. Then he hooks his keys onto his belt loop and looks at Kel.
“Are your motor skills impaired?” he asks seriously.
“Haha, whaaat! No way! Or, I mean… not… a lot? No more than if you didn’t get enough sleep.”
Sunny never gets enough sleep. “Cool.”
To get onto the roof, all you have to do is slip out the window onto the fire escape and climb a few ladders, till you hit the one that’s gated shut. Then just swing over the railing, scramble up the outside of the scaffolding, and hoist yourself over the gutter.
Sunny leads the way. He makes Kel hang back while he tests his weight, making sure he’s not leading them into a meat grinder. But the rusted metal holds. The only hitch comes in the form of a flurry of pigeons that explodes out from under the gutter, pelting Sunny with feathers and dust.
“Sunny!!!” Kel gasps.
But it’s fine. These days, when Sunny is overwhelmed, he doesn’t lash out or flinch away. If you don’t move, you can’t hurt anyone. He closes his eyes and tightens his hold and then the birds are gone.
He looks down at Kel. “Should be safe now,” he says calmly.
Kel’s eyes widen and he grins—a real one this time, wide and wild. “Right behind you!!”
The roof is everything Sunny hoped for. It's dusty and empty and high-up enough that when you look to the north, you can see a little sliver of the sea peeking between the high rises. There’s a big white trapezoid right in the middle, presumably the service entrance to the roof. The door is welded shut and the backside is a sloping plane of rough tile, but the sides are all empty white.
Sunny’s eye widens. A whole empty wall… A great white canvas pressed up against the sky, off anyone’s radar, and high above the cop cars wailing on the streets below. The possibilities are almost paralyzing.
Kel studies his face and then shakes his head, grinning crookedly. “Man, you are like, the coolest, you know that?”
Sunny gives him a baffled look. He hasn’t even done anything.
“I’m serious!! You’re just… It's like there's so much in your head that it all comes spilling out. Like you take all the bullshit, all this horrible pointless suffering and make it so everyone can see it, and so everyone who sees it can feel it. It’s—” Kel’s smile wilts at the edges. “I can’t even imagine, seeing like you.”
“I’m supposed to be cheering you up,” Sunny points out.
“Huh? Who says I need cheering up?”
Sunny’s frown deepens. No one said. Kel is just… muted. Like the light inside him needs a change of batteries. But he’s not sure that he knows how to say it.
“You’re just. Not as… bright? Still very bright,” he reassures him, when Kel’s eyes widen. “But, it’s—” He grimaces. “I don’t want you to lie.”
“Wh— I would never!!!”
“Not with words,” Sunny says, frustrated. “With—” He gestures at Kel’s stance, his easy smile. “Just. It’s okay if you’re not happy.”
He stops. Kel is looking at him with that ache in his eyes, even worse than when he first arrived. He looks lonely. But that doesn’t make any sense. Sunny is right here.
Sunny huffs impatiently. He’s not sure why he even tried doing this with words. That’s never been how he and Kel talked. He turns on his heel and wanders toward the northern edge of the roof, where you can see the fog rolling up the hill. Then he plunks himself down on the edge and flaps a hand at Kel.
“Come drink your horrible drink.” No one else is going to.
Kel chuckles and goes where Sunny wants him. “...I guess I maybe am a little off tonight, huh.”
Sunny gives him a look. Do you want to talk about it doesn’t work on Kel, because Kel never wants to talk about anything that might bum anyone out. “Talk about it.”
Kel snickers. “Aw, it’s nothing really. Or, I guess it’s a lot of little things?”
“Like what.”
“Man, you’re persistent tonight, huh?”
Sunny reaches into his borrowed backpack, silent, and hands Kel a slice of dried mango.
“...Are those just loose in there?”
Sunny nods.
Kel sputters a laugh and takes it. “Aw, I dunno, Sunny. It’s really pretty stupid.”
“Okay.” Feelings usually are.
Kel snickers, gnawing on the edge of his mango. If it were daytime, he could see clear to the ocean. But at night it’s lost to fog.
“I guess it’s just… It kinda feels like… everyone’s growing up? Like, figuring out what you want, and how you wanna live and stuff. And I’m the only one who’s just... not.”
“Aubrey is legally homeless,” Sunny points out.
“Yeah, cause she wants to, like… fuck the establishment, and blow up the IRS and shit!! Every day she looks more like herself! And Basil, hah, he’s—” Again, there’s that strange flash of hurt. “You know. Getting… everything he ever wanted, probably. And you!!!” He turns to Sunny with stars in his eyes. “God, you’re, like… taking all the cool shit in your head and pushing it out into the world and it is so exciting to watch, Sunny! Really!! It’s—I can’t believe how exciting it is, just watching you go around and look at things and make them important, just by seeing them.”
Kel drums his heels against the side of the building, his sparkle dimming a little.
“...You’re all so fun to watch, and I’m just kinda the same dumb kid as always. Like everyone’s running ahead, and I’m stuck trying to catch up.”
“But you’re the one who ran ahead.”
Kel blinks. “Huh?”
“When we were all—” Sunny gestures toward dissociative fugues, waking nightmares, drownings and stabbings and eyes gouged out. “You’re the only one who figured out how to live with yourself. On your own, without anyone’s help. And then you pulled us out after. It’s just that we’re finally catching up.”
“Yeah, but— No. Come on. That’s different. And anyway, it’s not like I was—” Kel hesitates. “Hey. When you were still… inside. Did you ever… Could you even hear me?”
Sunny’s head tilts. He heard Kel all night long, in Headspace. But that’s probably not what he means.
Kel looks out over the sleeping city. In the Glittering Harbor, you can only ever see the stars at twilight, after the sun’s slipped behind the world but before the fog has dragged its way onto the shore. But at night, you can see the city lights reflected in the clouds.
“...I used to talk to your door all the time, Sunny. All the time. For years, like maybe one day you were just gonna answer. It’s like— Even if I know something’s never gonna happen, I still can’t get over it.”
“But it did happen,” Sunny says, confused. “You brought me back.”
Kel laughs, but it's not a happy sound. It makes Sunny feel all upside-down and sideways. “Yeah. Yeah, maybe. Or—I don’t know. Maybe it just would’ve been some other—”
“No,” Sunny tells him firmly. “No one else could have done it. I would have died instead.” He doesn’t want to upset anyone, but it’s true. He was dying in that house. He was dying so slowly all the time, all the time he was awake. Every day he was a little less alive. He would have drowned in the bath, or got so confused and afraid that he would slide a knife between his ribs to make the nightmare stop. Or you’d fall down the stairs, Omori chimes in. You’d break your neck so you couldn’t move or call for help and then you’d starve down there, on the floor where it happened, and it would be weeks before anyone knew. “And—I didn’t hear you, at the door. Sorry. I was… not very awake. But I heard you in my dreams all the time. Sometimes even when I couldn’t find anyone else. So maybe some of it did get through. I don’t know. I don’t think about it very much.”
Kel is looking at him with surprise. Sunny feels a little surprised, too. It’s probably the most he’s said all at once in… He’s not sure how long.
“You saved me,” Sunny reminds him. “And brought us all back. And you’re doing fine, anyway.”
Kel sputters a laugh. “Aw, geez, Sunny. You always know just what to say.”
Sunny famously does not, but whatever. He studies Kel’s face and frowns. That laugh was honest, but Kel’s smile is lying again. “Are you sure there isn’t something else?”
“H-Huh?? I—” Kel looks away, toward the horizon. “Aw, I dunno. I mean. I guess I… don’t really wanna talk about it.”
Sunny can understand that. There are lots of things he doesn’t want to talk about. “Okay. Then… tell me what to paint up here.”
“Woah!!!” Kel yelps. “For real?”
He nods.
“Sunny??? That’s too much responsibility!! I don’t know the first thing about art!!”
Sunny rolls his eye. “Everyone knows about art." Art is just whatever makes you feel things. "Anyway, I’m the one who’ll paint it.”
“You’ve got me there,” Kel concedes. “Hmm… You could paint… a t-rex… that’s also a cyborg. A whole ranger squad of cyborg dinos!!”
“Were they recreated by science?” Sunny asks seriously. “Or did they survive the extinction event, and now they’re the dominant species?”
“Definitely the second one. Oh, oh, or you could paint Hector! Hector would be a great muse!”
“Hector has always been my muse.”
“Mine too!!” Kel is starting to sound more like himself. “What about a big ole garden? I bet Basil would like that.”
“Basil is never going to see it.” When Kel looks taken aback, Sunny clarifies, “He doesn’t like… danger.”
“It’s just a mural though?”
Sunny snickers. “He wouldn’t want me climbing up here.”
Kel looks surprised, and then guilty. “Oh! Ohhh. Okay, yeah, I can totally see that. But then—is it okay that we’re up here?”
“He can’t tell me what to do,” Sunny sniffs. Anyway, Basil wouldn’t actually try to stop him. He would just clamp his jaw shut and swallow his misgivings and proceed to spend the night vibrating in terror. “It’s just nicer to come up here when he doesn’t have to know.”
“Hey, whatever works.” Kel darts another glance at him. “Okay, I have a real idea, but it’s stupid.”
“Those weren’t real ideas?”
“I have another real idea, but it’s stupid. And super not original. But if I really get to pick, then… I think you should paint us.”
“All of us, or the two of us?”
Kel shrugs vaguely. “I guess it wouldn’t be very smart, though, huh. I mean. It’d be pretty obvious who did it.”
“Not necessarily.” There are lots of ways to paint something without painting it. Abstraction has always felt more real than realism, anyway. The eye isn’t a camera. Every image is passed through a hundred different filters, how you’re feeling and what’s on your mind and whether you’ve had anything to eat. Overly literal representation is just a shadow on the wall of the cave. To say something true, you need to tell a few lies.
It's like with Basil's photos. No matter how much you paid for your equipment, a photo of a sunset will always pale in comparison to the genuine article. You have to spend a while fucking around with the contrast and the color to make an image that feels even close to true.
Sometimes the real world feels like Headspace. All of these layers stacked on top of each other, all of them accurate, no one of them true. Sunny could paint a perfect replica of Kel Rodriguez—messy curls, easy smile—and it would be accurate, but not honest. Or he could paint a blurred, warped animation smear, and it would be honest, but not true. Or he could paint a living sun, lurid orange and yellow and brilliant blue-white, and it would be true, but definitely not accurate. But all of them would be real.
“Can you already see it?”
Sunny startles. Kel is watching him fondly. “Sorry.”
“Don’t be!! I told you, I love seeing you think.” Kel stops short, his fingers tapping an anxious beat against the gutter.. “...It’s late, huh? I should probably get going.”
Sunny sags. He’d been hoping to talk to Kel about everything they’ve been talking around: Kel acting weird, and Sunny feeling weird about it; Basil’s advice, and what Aubrey thinks that Kel might think. But he can’t unload that whole complicated tangle of feelings when Kel already looks so low. Paying attention to what other people want is tiresome, but important. Sunny wants to be good to the people he loves.
“Okay,” he sighs. “Just stay behind me. I have to check for pigeons.”

Kel x reader comfort
Warnings: HUGE omori spoilers, panic attacks, lots of crying, vomit, ED, SH, bullying, suicide, swearing (please ask if you want warnings for anything else!)
Description: Kel has always been there for you, as you have for him.
A/n: YAY MY FIRST ACTUAL POST! I hope you enjoy! This is also an example of how serious my works can get haha
Tumblr media
You were over at kel’s house, watching cartoons with him on a Sunday morning. You were eating cereal with him and hero as his mother walked into the room, teary eyed as she clutched her phone close to her chest.
“Mom? What’s wrong? Are you okay?”
Hero stood up as you and Kel focused your attention on his mother, glancing in between you two as Kel placed a hand on yours, sending you a reassuring smile.
“It’s- its about Mari…”
Your blood ran cold as she said that; what happened? Was she hurt? Your mind instantly wandered into dark scenarios, Kel squeezing your hand as he noticed your anxiety.
“She’s- she’s killed herself..!”
.
.
Everyone was speechless.
“…killed herself..?”
Hero spoke in an almost silent voice, his words strained. You reach out a hand to him, but he tugs his away as soon as he feels your skin on his. He rubs a hand over his face, walking upstairs and slamming the door to his room. You hear the sounds of things crashing to the ground as a harsh knock sounds at the front door.
“Oh, y/n- your mother is here” kel’s mother rushed to open it as you just sat there on the ground, your brain having not fully registered what had happened.
“Y/n… no matter what happens, we’ll always be friends, right?”
Tears sprung to your eyes as you nodded, trying to wipe them away but they just kept coming. Kel scooted across and brought you into a hug, his own tears silently falling as you both cried into each others arms.
4 YEARS LATER
“Y/NNNNN! COME ON!!!”
You rushed down the stairs at the sound of Kel practically breaking down your door, running past the kitchen, taking a glance at the loaf of bread on the countertop only to think against it, swinging open the door to see Kel grinning at you.
“Kel, the doors open you know you can just come in!”
He smiled and laughed nervously in response.
“Yeah, well, that seems a little rude, right?”
“Oh, Kel, if it’s you I don’t care, you should know that by now!” You rolled your eyes as a light blush formed on his cheeks before you grabbed him by the hand and pulled him in “also, sorry, but I’m not completely ready yet- I’ll just be a sec!” He sat down on the couch and made himself at home as you ran up the stairs, digging around your room.
“Aha! Found it!” You slipped the purple bracelet over your wrist and smiled, rushing back downstairs only to find Kel in the kitchen, making a sandwich.
“Hey that’s my food you’re using up”
He laughed and handed the sandwich over to you, leaving you confused.
“Kel I don’t-“ he cut you off.
“Y/n, there’s no need to lie I know you and I know you haven’t had breakfast yet, so eat”
He was oddly serious as he shoved the sandwich into your hands, watching as you took small bites from it.
“Hey, don’t we need a gift to welcome hero back from college?”
Kel seemed to panic as you said that, slapping a hand over his face as he groaned in annoyance.
“Shoot! I completely forgot! Ah, darn, I have a whole list of things from my mom that I have to buy too!”
While his back was turned, you dropped the sandwich into the trash and walked to your door.
“Hey, won’t you be too warm? It’s like seventy degrees out there” Kel placed a hand around your wrist where the sleeve of your shirt slowly rode up, his face contorting in confusion. He dragged his fingers up your forearm before you pulled away from him, swinging open the door.
“Y/n, are you okay? You know I’m always here to talk, right? You don’t have to worry about being a burden”
He knew you so well. You shook your head, however, looking to the side as you shut and locked your door, dropping the keys behind a plant pot.
“I’m fine, Kel”
“But I felt-“
“Kel, please”
At the sound of your voice and the pleasing look you gave him, he simply let out a sigh and stopped pressing you about it.
The walk into town was awkward, to say the least. You weren’t saying a word as you could see Kel sending you worried glances from the corner of your eye: he glanced at your face, then back at the road, then he glanced at your arm and looked away again just as fast.
“Oh, there’s gino’s, mom said to grab something from there…” he looked back at you eyes narrowing at the sight of the thickness of your shirt “seriously, y/n, you’re gonna get heatstroke, we can go back if you wanna change, I really don’t mind” he gestured behind him, pointing in the direction of your house but you didn’t budge. He sighed again as you walked in front of him into gino’s, leaving him to stare after you.
Oh, great. Now Aubrey’s here.
You turned away from her, hoping to be ignored only when you heard whispers coming from her table and the scraping of chairs against the polished floor.
“I thought I told you never to show your face again, nerd” one of Aubrey’s friends spoke, one of which you didn’t care enough to know the name of “scram.”
You tried to ignore them, watching the door to see if Kel walked in already.
“Hey, I’m talking to you! Why are you even wearing a shirt like that? it’s summer! Are you that dumb that you forgot how seasons work?” She started tugging on the sleeve of your t-shirt as you immediately pulled away, stumbling back a bit.
God where is he?
“Y’know, you look a little hot… how about we roll those up for you?” Aubrey’s friend smirked, another few of them walking over as they started pulling on it, tugging up the sleeves before you could even try to fight back.
“No!-“
“Hah! Holy crap!” She laughed as she grabbed your arm, twirling it around to get a better view “You’re that desperate for someone to notice you, huh?” You tried to pull away, but her grip was too strong for your frail body.
Maybe I should’ve eaten kel’s sandwich..
“This is so sad, y’know, no matter how much you do crap like this no one’s gonna care.” You tried harder, attempting to pry her fingers off your wrist, but that only made her hold on tighter, earning a cry of pain from you “Well aren’t you pitiful, you can’t even get away no matter how hard you try, how weak have you gotten? You lost all your chub! Don’t tell me you’re starving yourself too—“
“That’s enough!”
You didn’t bother looking to see who it was, you already knew.
“Oh, it’s just you, nerd” she shoved your arm away as she walked back to the table, her other two friends purposely bumping you as they walked behind her. Kel sent them a glare, cussing them out as he placed a hand on your back.
“Come on, let’s go”
He sent a harsh glare towards Aubrey especially.
“Asshole.”
He guided you out of the door, leading you both to a secluded space behind all the stores, his hand still carefully placed on your back.
“But don’t you need to-“
“That can wait.”
Kel was being completely serious; you could tell by his tone of voice. You didn’t turn to look at him when you got to a quieter place, simply out of fear that he would be angry at you.
“Y/n”
You didn’t respond.
“Y/n, please”
You turned your head to the side only slightly as an indication that you would listen to him.
“Did they hurt you?”
You shook your head hesitantly.
“Did they?”
“…. Not much”
Your voice was barely audible, speaking in a whisper as Kel stepped closer to you, placing a hand on your shoulder as you jumped slightly. You heard him wince slightly as he glanced down at your arms, his hand tightening slightly on your shoulder as he looked away.
“I thought… we promised to always be there for each other” his voice was full of sadness “why won’t you let me be there for you?”
You stared down at the ground, breath hitched in your throat as you clenched and unclenched your fists, something you did when you were nervous.
“You listen to me all the time… you’ve helped me when I’ve gotten hurt… you’ve even seen me cry! Not even my mom has seen me cry!”
Your shoulders shook under his hand, trying to hold back your tears as Kel’s words only made you feel worse.
“Y/n… I haven’t seen you cry once in four years. That is not healthy.” He leaned in closer again, attempting to get himself into your field of view “you can’t just bottle up your emotions because it just leads to unhealthy habits… I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if I just let you do these things to yourself”
He put his other hand on your shoulder, turning you to face him as his face contorted in pity at the sight of your erratic, heavy breathing, tears in your eyes as you tried with all your might to keep them at bay.
“Even now you won’t cry,” he squeezed your shoulders, moving his hands down to the sides of your arms “it’s okay. No one’s gonna judge you, no one’s gonna find you annoying and I won’t think any less of you,” you bit your lip and looked down at the ground, your entire body quivering “please, y/n, just let it out… I can’t bear to see you hurting any longer”
With those words, you let out a choked sob, your hands reaching up to cover your face as tears seeped through your fingers, hitting the ground like raindrops in a storm.
Kel placed a hand on the back of your head as he pulled you towards him, his own tears filling his eyes as he stroked your hair, his heart shattering at the sound of your desperate sobs.
“ ‘m sorry..!”
Your voice was muffled as he let you speak your mind.
“I’m sorry! I-I didn’t mean to h-hurt you! I just- I didn’t know how to d-deal with things and it felt like t-the only way ..!”
You hiccuped in between your sobs as Kel let his own tears fall, hiding is face in your hair.
“I- I couldn’t- fuck!”
Kel shushed you gently, pulling you closer to him as you only cried harder.
You two stood there for a while, his arms never shifting as your sobs slowly died down, not completely but enough so that Kel pulled you out of the embrace to look at you. Your hands were still covering your face as Kel pulled them away and when you finally looked up at him, eyes red and puffy, he gave you a gentle smile and wiped your remaining tears.
“Is it bad that I feel… good?” Your voice was hoarse as he shook his head in response, holding your hands tenderly.
“No! You’re allowed to be happy, y/n,” Kel was about to speak again before closing his mouth and thinking more about it.
“Listen…” he looked back up at you “what happened that day is absolutely not your fault. Neither was anything leading up to it. It’s okay for you to be happy, it’s okay for you to smile and it’s okay for you to move on”
You nodded your head, sniffling slightly as you tugged on his hands, pulling you closer to him as you placed a kiss on his cheek.
“Thank you… for that” he blushed and smiled bashfully “I- you see- I didn’t mean to- ugh!”
You groaned in frustration and kicked a rock by your shoe, sighing as you rethought your sentence.
“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you about anything… and I’m sorry you found out this way,” you felt kel’s thumbs stroke your knuckles as you continued “I promise I was planning on telling you! But… I only told myself that I would do that if things ended up really serious,” you stared at your intertwined hands as Kel sent you a reassuring squeeze “I didn’t mean to worry you… it’s just the way I cope with things because I’d just feel so bad if I burdened you with any of it and with everything that happened with Mari I just- you’re probably so mad with me I’m sorry, I’m so sorry-“
“Whoa, y/n, breathe” Kel placed a hand on your jaw, lifting your face to look at him “I’m not mad, I could never be mad at you! I was just so worried because you just seemed so… out of it for the longest time and… I didn’t know what to do! I noticed things, but I didn’t say anything because I wanted you to come to me first… I noticed you losing weight, I noticed you throwing up at my house… fuck, I even noticed when you stole the blades from my razor! And I didn’t fucking say anything!”
Your heart sank. Were you really burdening him all this time even without knowing?
“Kel I’m sorry-“
“No! God, don’t apologise… I’m sorry,” his eyes watered as he blinked away his tears “im sorry I knew and didn’t say anything… I’m sorry you felt that you had to hide these things from me”
He brought you into another hug, letting out a heavy sigh as you breathed in his scent (which was not sweat, for once).
“Promise to tell me these things from now on, okay? Please?”
You nodded, noticing the way Kel buried his face in your hair.
“Oh yeah..” he pulled away from you and reached into his pocket “this is why I took so long, hah” he laughed nervously and handed you a pack of bandaids. You smiled up at him and he smiled back just as wide.
You’re so grateful to have someone like him.
At the hospital
“I have something to tell you”
Your heart sank, the hand holding kel’s tightening its grip as he squeezed back.
.
.
.
You felt sick. After hearing Sunny’s words there was only one word to describe how you felt. Sick.
“Y-you’re kidding, right? This is just a joke… right?” Kel’s voice trembled. You let go of his hand, crouching to the floor as your breathing quickened. Kel placed a hand on his head and started pacing the room, Aubrey starting to yell at Sunny and the beeping of the monitors only making you feel more panicked.
Fuck.
Fuck.
Kel… I need kel… I need him to… Kel…
Aubreys yells only got louder as tears streamed down your face, hero’s fist slamming against the wall as you yelped.
“Sunny… I think we need a moment.”
His voice filled you with fear. It reminded you of the day you received… the news- no, the fake news- of Mari’s suicide.
Sunny left the room. It was silent other than the beeping of basil’s heart monitor. You felt the need to throw up.
You pushed yourself off the floor and stumbled into the bathroom, emptying your stomach as Kel ran in after you and held up your hair. You could hear hero crying as you gripped the toilet seat, kel’s hand rubbing your back as he placed another on your shoulder. You heard him sniffling as he rested his head on your back. Turning to face him, you pulled his head to your chest as he cried into your shirt, your chest heaving with your own sobs.
.
.
.
.
.
You jumped as you heard the toilet flush behind you, suddenly seeing hero in your vision as he crouched down beside you, stroking his brother’s hair. Your breathing was still all over the place as hero placed a hand on your back, shifting his gaze to you.
“Breathe, y/n, with me” he helped you steady your breathing as you pulled Kel closer to you, his sobbing having stopped only a few minutes before Hero walked in. His arms tightened around you in response as you shifted to stand up.
“C’mon Kel… I…is it okay if I go home?” He looked up at you, eyes red and puffy as he stood up and offered a hand to you, gently pulling you to stand. His hand stayed intertwined with yours as he walked you out of the hospital and to your home, stopping at the door before you could go in.
Kel noticed your sad expression and tugged you closer to him, placing a kiss on your forehead.
“Can… can you stay?”
Your sweet voice filled his ears as he sadly smiled down at you.
“Of course”
You’re so grateful to have someone like him.

Pre-trauma HERO Headcanons
Tumblr media
A/N: Yet again another from my Wattpad! I hope that these ones make sense I was struggling a little with HERO but I did it!
Warnings: None!
Word Count: 1.1k
Tumblr media
- LORD I LOVE THIS MAN WITH MY WHOLE HEART-
- HERO is the actual perfectionist who's a total try hard, he just rubbed off on MARI.
-  I know a lot of people see him as trans man (FtM) but personally I think he's a cis man. But if you headcanon him as a trans man that's okay too! :)
- Likes to do chores for his mom, because he's definitely a mama's boy.
- He definitely finishes assignments before they're even due, MARI and BASIL often tell him to go a little easy on himself.
- HERO likes to pick out clothes for the next day! It makes him feel ready to go as soon as he wakes up!
- An early morning type of guy, that's when he performs his best.
- Loves to drink tea, hasn't dabbled in the art of coffee yet. His favorite teas are green tea, peppermint tea, and rose tea.
- HERO likes helping SUNNY, AUBREY, BASIL and KEL with homework. BASIL being the easiest to help and KEL being the hardest.
- Wouldn't be surprised if he often has to pick up KEL because KEL will try and run away from him when getting lectured. He probably sometimes picks up AUBREY, SUNNY, and BASIL just because he's so used to picking up KEL.
- BASIL just gives him a smile, not really caring.
- SUNNY doesn't like it and will tap HERO's arm to remind him that he is indeed not KEL.
- AUBREY's confused, tilting her head. She doesn't really mind though.
- KEL hates it, obviously. He tries to escape by kicking, biting, licking, really anything that'll get HERO to let go. It never works and he gets in lots of trouble. - He acts innocent but I know better. He's a teenage boy, no teenage boy has innocent thoughts. But he acts as child friendly as he can for the younger kids.
- Will chuckle if he hears something that could be taken out of context. Likes to tell MARI what he heard. MARI just rolls her eyes, lightly hitting his arm.
- HERO definitely tries to stay more in touch with his culture than I think KEL would. He's just that type of guy.
- He's considered playing an instrument before but decides that he'll leave that to SUNNY and MARI.
- Random one but he almost always sleeps on his back. What a monster...
- He's always encouraging MARI to try her hardest! Usually telling her that great things will happen if she does!
- Also tells her that if she needs a break sometimes that's okay too! He just wants her to be as happy as possible!
- HERO likes to listen to AUBREY vent as he's aware that home life for her isn't the best. She always tells him about her mother and how she wishes that her mom wouldn't be so mean.
- He always hugs her for about 10 - 13 minutes. Reassuring her that she has them if she ever needs anything at all.
- HERO is very cuddly, he loves cuddles. Doesn't really care who he cuddles with but he prefers his mom and MARI!
-  I get the feeling he very rarely but still does read fanfiction. He finds it weird but strangely interesting. He might even invite MARI to read with him.
- Plays games with KEL and AUBREY, but absolutely loses to them. Always ask for a moment to catch his breath.
- Likes to play catch with KEL and hide and seek with AUBREY. He's actually pretty good at hide and seek, always giving AUBREY tips so that she can beat KEL, SUNNY, MARI, and BASIL.
- HERO often accepts jobs such as at Gino's and Fix It. He likes having money on him at all times just in case he needs it for something.
- I can see him being very cheap. He often dislikes spending a lot of money and will avoid spending money all together as often as he can.
- He will spend money on KEL and MARI more than other people, but that's just because that's who he's closest too!
- He does actually have a slightly rebellious side but it's often not put on display because he's a much bigger wuss then he is rebellious.
- Somehow always ends up being the first one to fall asleep at sleepovers. He's a very eepy guy.
- Has definitely woken up to a maker mustache before, as well as other drawings on his face. He usually immediately knows it's KEL but pretends he doesn't know just to make KEL happy.
- Usually the one who ends up walking HECTOR. His parents don't trust KEL to do it and they're always too busy so he's always doing it for them.
- MARI often tells HERO that he needs to start standing up for himself more as she thinks he doesn't do it enough.
- HERO was the one to tell KEL that Santa wasn't real. Felt horrible when KEL burst into tears and dressed up as Santa later that night just so KEL would be happy again and tell HERO the next morning that Santa is real.
- SUNNY usually sleeps in MARI's bed when he has a nightmare, it's similar with HERO and KEL. KEL usually sneaks into HERO's bed after having a bad dream.
- Sometimes HERO will move himself into KEL's bed if he's had a bad dream because he thinks that maybe there's something like a spider around and needs KEL to protect him.
- KEL finds this hilarious.
- HERO at first got worried for MARI when he first saw her stimming, he thought that it meant something really really bad and got super duper worried.
- MARI and SUNNY's mom reassured him that it was just her own way of dealing with things such as being overstimulated. HERO's reaction was something along the lines of :0.
- He still likes to check up on her though! Make sure she knows he's there just in case she needs him!
- HERO always tells KEL what he's learned in school and KEL's always like "Booooooooring!" HERO thought it was interesting...
- He's repulsed by KEL's grades, and almost has a heart attack when he sees them. He cannot believe that someone could somehow be failing every class except gym.
- He likes ruffling peoples hair, mostly because his dad does it to him.
- KEL's always angry when HERO ruffles his hair. He cannot believe that he did such a thing!
- AUBREY is mostly confused as no one's ever done that to her before but she finds it fun!
- SUNNY hates it, and so HERO doesn't do that to him.
- BASIL likes it! He's happy that he's close with his friends!
- MARI doesn't like that it messes up her hair... But she'll let him do it, because she loves him.
- HERO likes to get gardening tips from BASIL, HERO wants to plant his own flower one day! BASIL supports that idea 100%!

Basil-Kel Swap Part 7
The second Omori enters the Neighbors Room, he recognizes two things.
One, Aubrey and Basil are playing War, while Hero stands over them, looking uneasy. Two, Hero has spotted him, and runs over at full speed, grabbing his shoulders.
“Again?! You two should watch where-” Aubrey yelled, cutting herself off as she turned towards the eldest. “Omori?!”
Basil followed her eyes, then gasped and jumped to his feet. “Omori, you’re back! Thank goodness you’re okay!”
“Where have you been?” Hero asked, eyes desperately flicking over his face. His face was closer to gray than it had been in a long time, but his aura pulsed with a faint red, likely in time with his heartbeat. “Mari’s been worried sick! You shouldn’t scare us like that! Is Kel with you? I swear, if this was some tasteless joke-!”
Aubrey whacked Hero’s arm with Mr. Plantegg, puffing up her cheeks, and he startled enough to let go of Omori. “Omori definitely wouldn’t help Kel with this dumb of a prank!”
Omori looked them over, then turned to Basil. The Dandy Crown was almost out of petals at this point. A head tilt got his question across, and Basil explained.
“Kel… When we got back to their house, his half was totally empty. Nothing but a blanket fort,” Basil said. He curled in on himself, looking miserable. “We’ve already looked all around the playground, and the clearing, and the tunnel… But no luck.”
Hero took a step back from the children, breathing through his nose, and nodding. “We should go tell Mari you’re okay. (Maybe, she’ll have found him…)” The last part was muttered under his breath.
Everyone lined up, and Omori took a moment to think.
‘Kel’s missing… So it really is time? But why now…’
A dark square shadow hovered in front of them. Hero walked right through it, Basil and Aubrey right behind.
Omori reached out, touching the ‘A’ key, and following after.
‘11 keys left…’
“Omori! You’re okay!” Mari had him wrapped in a hug before he could even think. He didn’t mind- Mari’s hugs always were the best. He leaned into her before she pulled away, looking sad. “Don’t worry me like that.”
Omori nodded, and she smiled at him. The smile fell as she looked to the other teenager.
“Any luck?” Hero asked, and her face fell further.
“Nothing yet, Hero. I’m sorry.”
He clenched his hands, then relaxed them as he breathed out. His eyes watered.
“It’s… it’s not your fault, Mari. We just need to look somewhere else then, right?”
Aubrey gripped Omori’s hand, making him look at her. “At least we found you, Omori! You aren’t helping Kel with some big joke, right?” Omori shook his head, and Aubrey grinned up at him.
“I really hope Kel will be okay… He’s strong, but also… kind of careless,” Basil mumbled the last part under his breath, looking hurt by his own words.
Aubrey snorted. “He’ll definitely be fine! I think that he just decided to run off to mess with us! He took Omori with him, but because he’s smart, Omori decided to go back to his room instead. I bet that’s all that happened!”
Hero sighed in a way that said this was not the first theory of its kind Aubrey had offered, and Mari chuckled warmly.
“Well, it certainly would be nice if that were the case, wouldn’t it? But I think you’re definitely right about one thing. Kel will be okay!” She looked at Hero, before drawing him into a hug. He sighed as he leaned against her. “He will, Hero. Trust me! It’s at times like this when we gotta stay positive!”
Basil glanced between the two, before nodding. “You’re right! We’ve already checked once, but maybe Kel went back home while we were searching?”
Aubrey rolled her eyes. “We can at least go grab some Snacks while on the way there.”
Hero just clung to Mari for a second more. Finally, he let go and rubbed his eyes.
“Right. That’s a good idea. Maybe there’s something that we missed.”
Mari clapped her hands together, smiling. “That’s the spirit, Hero! And, as always,” she turned to the younger trio, gently ruffling Basil’s hair and shaking petals loose. “I’ll be here if you need me!”
Omori started to look around the playground again, and the signpost caught his eye again. Most of it was covered by a missing dog poster, and a missing poster for Kel as well, using a picture from Basil’s album. The dog poster showed a dog with a toy ball, and the biggest text declared the dog missing, and claimed there would be no reward. The smaller text read “ “ROVER” AKA KEEPER OF MOONS AND COMETS”.
Omori looked up at where Boss had been hiding before, and knocked on the tree trunk. He stared a moment longer before Aubrey seemed to get what he meant.
“Oh, Omori!” He turned to face her, and she pointed towards the tetherball game in the center of the playground. “Boss is over there, if you’re looking for him!”
Hero smiled tiredly. “He’s helping Van and Berly reinforce the tetherball rope, so it won’t snap. Apparently, it’s been breaking a bunch recently.”
Omori nodded, and walked towards it. Sure enough, Boss was giving Berly a boost so that she could mess with the tetherball’s rope. Van seemed relieved to have someone else there.
He tapped the purple dinosaur’s leg, and Boss glanced down.
“Huh? What’s going on?”
Omori stared up at him, silent.
Boss shifted, looking uncomfortable under the monochrome boy's stare. The staredown continued for a second more, before Basil jumped in as interpreter.
“Uh-! Omori wants to know if you have anything to do with Kel going missing!”
“Kel’s missing? It wasn’t me!” Omori kept staring, and Boss shifted on his feet, rubbing his hands together with a nervous expression. “I promise! I’ve been here with Van and Berly the whole time!”
Berly turned to them. “Yep! Plus, I don’t think Boss could even do anything to him! Did you see how he got his butt kicked last time?” She laughed, throwing her head back, then turned back to the playground equipment.
Van glanced over at the group, then patted Hero’s shoulder.
“Really, we haven’t seen anything of him. We’ll keep an eye out for him, don’t worry.”
Hero gave a weak smile. “Thanks Van.”
‘A floating mirror. Your friends smile warmly behind you.’
Omori stared at the mirror. Behind him Aubrey leaned against his shoulder and Basil aimed his camera at the mirror, giggling as he brushed Omori’s hand. Hero gave a gentle smile and ruffled Omori’s hair.
They passed into the tunnel, Omori glancing around the passage. They were only about halfway through, when Hero called out.
“Hold on, everyone!” The younger trio turned towards him, and watched Hero approach a not glowing stone on the wall. He wiped the gem clean with his sleeve, and it burst into light again. “Sorry, the stone needed to be relit. It happens sometimes. So, I guess, if you see any darkened stones, clean them off and they’ll light right up!”
Omori nodded, and they were off again.
‘Do you want to have a picnic with your friends?’
Mari adjusted her handkerchief, then leaned over and pinched Hero’s cheek. Basil sat on the edge of the blanket, tucked between Mari’s cooler and picnic basket, fiddling with a handful of wild flowers, and Aubrey bounced back and forth between doing twirls and fixing her bow.
The only one not relaxing was Hero, who looked like he’d just smelt something nasty.
After a long moment, Basil spoke up. “Do you guys think Kel’s okay?” He asked, twisting the flower stems into each other. Hero tensed and squeezed his eyes shut. “I just… was thinking… Maybe we should be more worried…”
Aubrey stopped spinning to look at the others. “Well, he’s totally fine! I’m sure of it!”
“Aubrey’s right,” Mari nodded, and the younger girl lit up in yellow. “After all, it’s no use getting all worked up over it! Right, Hero?” She pinched his cheek again, and he sighed.
“Mari, I love Kel, but he’s not the most…” Hero paused, struggling to find a word, then shook his head. “He’s naive, you know? He’ll believe anything someone tells him.”
Aubrey gasped, covering her mouth. “OOH!! When we find Kel again, I’m gonna tell him you said that!” Hero gave a half-hearted glare, then refocused on the sky.
“It’s true, though. He’s easy to convince to a side, then he gets all stubborn about it. Even if it doesn’t make sense.” Hero smiled with another shake of his head. “Once, he and I got into an argument about whether tomatoes were vegetables or fruits, and even after Basil told us, he refused to acknowledge it for a month. Heh…”
Omori reached over to pat Hero’s shoulder, and the eldest’s smile turned sad.
“Ah, thanks Omori…. And you’re right, Mari. Getting worked up over this really isn’t helpful. Kel’ll be okay, after all.”
Mari smiled at him, wrapping her arms around his shoulders. “That’s what I’m here for!”
“Sniff… Sniff…”
The sniffling made the main group jump, only to turn and find Basil a glowing blue.
“Ah, s-sorry, sniff… I didn’t mean- mean to start cry, ing…” his voice broke as he sniffled.
“Aww, Basil!” Aubrey rushed over, pushing him into the center of the blanket to give him a hug. “It’s alright! Crying when you’re sad is good for you!”
Omori squinted at her. Something about that phrase was... ‘Familiar…’
Hero nodded. “Yeah, that’s true! I guess it’s group hug time?”
“Yep!” Aubrey cheered, nodding fast.
Mari laughed as everyone gathered up, even the perpetually unimpressed Omori, and drew themselves into the hug.
‘You and your friends feel like new.’
Omori started towards the Brothers’ Fort, then turned back to his sister.
“Hi Omori! Cliff-faced as usual, I see. You should smile more!” She grinned at him, ruffling his hair, and the others giggled.
‘Traitors.’
Omori huffed slightly, fixing his hair, then looking up at Mari again.
“So… do you need me to help you with anything? All it costs is your love!” Mari teased, clearly resisting the urge to mess with his hair again. Omori reached into his pocket to reveal the Bag of Chocolates.
“Oh! Kel gave this to you before he went missing, right? You must want to wear it as a charm!”
He nodded and held it out, and she plucked it from him, with a laugh. “Well, lucky you! I brought some friendship bracelet ingredients- I’ll have this a pretty necklace in no time!” She drew a string from the basket and tied it securely around the bag, hanging it around Omori's neck with a humored reverence.
He looked at the charm, gently turning it this way and that, then nodded to her.
‘Bag of Chocolates. Plastic baggy full of chewy chocolate candies. SPEED +2, Boosts stats after snacking.’
“Hehe! You’re welcome, Omori!”
He glanced back at the other three. Hero looked like he was trying not to laugh, Aubrey made a cute squeaking noise and rushed to trap the monochrome boy in a hug, and Basil’s face flushed warm as he looked away.
“Oh! You look- it’s really cute…” Basil tucked into himself.
‘Overwhelmingly good reactions. You feel satisfied.’
Omori asked Mari if she had any thoughts about how to find ‘Kel’.
“Kel and Hero’s home is just down this path, you know. I hope Kel is okay… He gets himself into trouble when he’s on his own… Maybe he went home when we weren’t looking?” Mari said, mumbling some parts so as to not upset anyone again.
Omori tilted his head at her, wondering about ‘MOUNT SHEER’S ENTRANCE’. Kel had mentioned it earlier, but he hadn’t noticed any paths forward. She smiled slyly.
“Near the Brothers’ Fort, there’s a secret path to MOUNT SHEER. It’s already a difficult climb, but the cliff from that path is even worse! Hero had to hide the entrance after Kel nearly got hurt on it. Maybe if you got someone to teach you about ways to climb things quickly, you might be able to make it up!”
“Hope to have helped just a little. I’ll be here if you need me.” Mari smiled and waved them off.
BROTHERS’ FORT was the same as it had been, before. The sky was still dark, stones still glowing, eternal pumpkin still eternal. The only noticeable difference was that there was one less candle in the hollow gourd.
Omori tilted his head at Hero, who looked embarrassed. “I don’t know what happened to Kel’s candle,” he admitted. “But I wasn’t really looking for it either.”
Omori said nothing, picking up and lighting two candles, blue and yellow, and handing the blue light source to the eldest.
The inside of the fort was the same, too. Except, there was a shadow in the fire light, looming into the entrance area.
Omori rushed into Kel’s room, the others right behind him.
A glimpse of it- Something hovering over a small black stain in the middle of the room.
The blanket fort Kel had made was destroyed.
Omori drew his knife.
When he blinked, there was nothing left.
The fireplace didn’t feel warm enough, suddenly.
“Well… It… doesn’t look like he’s here. Everything seems… normal,” Hero frowned. Omori slowly put the knife away.
Basil frowned. “Kel wouldn’t just run off without a reason, right?”
“He totally would,” Aubrey snorted, and Hero turned to look at her. His face was as stern as metal.
“Aubrey, I understand you think Kel is just goofing around, but we really have no idea where he is. No one has seen him. Not even Mari. He could be in actual danger, and I can’t take that chance.”
She looked at him with wide eyes, then ducked away in shame. “But, he… I…” Aubrey trailed off.
Hero watched her for a second, before his eyes watered and his face went soft. He opened his mouth to speak, then closed it and looked away.
Basil stared at them both, then stepped forward past them. “Hero, I… I’m worried too.” he mumbled, picking up a soft blue blanket patterned with various sports equipment. “We all want Kel to be okay. You, you’re probably really scared, right? Cause Kel’s our friend, but he’s… he’s your little… li-little brother…”
Basil clung tighter to the blanket, shimmering blue. He rubbed the fabric between his fingers and sniffled.
“I’m… I’m…”
Aubrey looked like she had the wind knocked out of her, face twisted up and eyes scrunched and watering. “Basil…”
He shook his head, and finally turned back around. His light eyes were completely dripping with tears, but he tried for a smile anyway.
“It’s scary, r-right? But, but I think… it's gonna be okay. If we try and look, then, then we can find him.” He held out the blanket to Hero. His eyes were desperate. “We’ll find him, and then everything will… It’ll be okay, won’t it?”
Hero stared at Basil. He looked lost, but took the blanket anyway. His hands shook as he clutched it, but he shook his head, swallowed thickly, and reached out to pull the younger kids into a hug.
“Yeah… Everything will be okay.” His voice trembled. Omori blinked up at him, then leaned into the eldest, and Basil laughed weakly as he hugged back. Aubrey stood, hands to her chest. Slowly, she untensed, and buried her face in his side.
“I’m sorry,” she hiccuped, and let out a quiet sob when he hugged tighter. “I didn’t- I’m-”
Hero shushed her gently, and just held the four tight. “It’s okay. I’m sorry, too. I shouldn’t have snapped like that.”
Omori closed his eyes. Relishing in the comfort, and absorbing the warmth of everyone. Something itched about this, but he didn’t want to move yet. He wanted them back. Where were they, why couldn’t he-
Hero finally let them go, smiling with sad wet eyes, and wrapping the blanket around his shoulders.
“We- I should get searching again,” Hero rubbed at his eyes with a soft corner. He gave his expected charming smile. “I’m going to search over the VAST FOREST, and if I can’t find him there, then I’ll check out MOUNT SHEER and OTHERWORLD. If you guys don’t want to join, I won’t mind.”
“Hero…” Basil frowned. “That’s way too much space to search all on your own! I’ll help you. Kel's my friend, too!”
Omori bumped his shoulder, and Basil glanced at him, before nodding.
“Omori’ll help out too!”
Hero’s shoulders sagged, and he smiled more easily. “Thank you. It means a lot to me...”
“I- I’m coming, too!” Aubrey yelled, red in the face. She rubbed at her nose with one hand. “You can’t just leave me behind! So, there!”
“Huh?” Basil blanched, “But didn’t you say that Kel was just messing with us?”
“Well, I…” She looked away. “I still think he might be. He probably is. But… Maybe he needs help. Or something.” She looked back, determined. “Plus, Mari would be really upset if you guys got hurt! So I’ve got to keep an eye out for you!”
“Alright, alright,” Hero laughed, ruffling her hair. He handed off the blanket to Omori, and nodded at him. “Let's grab some SNACKS, then head out. Alright?”
The younger trio cheered, Omori even pumping an arm into the air alongside them. The party got back into formation. ‘Time to go.’
‘You got the SPORTS BLANKET.’
‘HERO learned GREEN CARD.’
‘Sports Blanket. Soft blue blanket covered in sports ball and equipment patterns. DEFENSE + 3’
‘GREEN CARD. Deals 50 damage to an enemy. Juice Cost: 15’
Omori led the way into Hero’s Room, looking around at the various drawers. Behind him, Hero yelped, then rushed over to the oven, quickly pulling two trays of muffins from the heat. The kids stared, then Basil and Aubrey rushed for the muffins. Omori watched Hero fend them away from the hot tray for a moment until he began Investigating the room.
The knives in the cutlery drawers were no fun, all for food, unlike his. His was for fighting, clearly. Also, Hero had looked up just enough to chastise him for stealing, so he put the knife he’d been pocketing back with a huff. The other utensils were unimpressive- Kinds of spoons and forks were just about everywhere, and while there were the occasional whisks, spatulas, and fruit slicers, nothing really stood out.
Omori pulled out a pair of tongs, clicking them a few times before placing them back. ‘The time for crab is over.’
Finally finished with the drawers, he tried a cabinet instead, and nearly gasped. ‘No way… Is this…?!’
‘You got the COLANDER!’
Memories of using the metal device as a helmet while tussling with his friends reemerged. He remembered swatting it with a wrapping paper tube as he fought against Aubrey to keep prince Basil trapped in his evil lair- remembered the first time he got to play the knight, and how brave he felt facing off against the grand sorceress Mari- Remembered Kel and Aubrey constantly fighting over who got to use it this time, until his parents Hero took it away and hid it whenever they came over- Remembered someone yelling at him. What did he do wrong? Why was he in trouble, everyone else was–!
“Omori?” Omori blinked back into focus as Basil called his name. Basil leaned over his shoulder, then beamed at him. “Oh, hey! That’s our old fighting helmet, isn’t it? Maybe we can use it!”
“I thought I hid that…” Hero mumbled under his breath, then spoke louder. “Well, I guess I can’t stop you. Just, don’t put it back without washing it first.”
Omori glanced over at the table. Basil had sat down, chewing on a fruit slice as he watched Hero play keep away with the still hot muffin tins.
“Can’t I have one already?? PLEAASEE??” Aubrey begged, then jumped for it. Hero sighed and held them higher over her head.
“Just wait until they cool down! Aubrey, the muffins aren’t going to run away, I promise!”
Basil glanced over and just smiled at Omori, shaking his head.
Omori stepped past them, looking to the fridge. An odd feeling swelled in his stomach, and he fought to not frown.
He opened the fridge, and was momentarily overcome with a rancid smell. His eyes watered, a taste of bile rose- Omori forced the feelings back down. Nothing bad was there. This is Headspace. We’re safe.
He closed and reopened the fridge again, and was met with the expected results of Hero’s cooking, carefully stored in tupperwares.
‘The fridge is filled with containers of food. There aren’t any SNACKS to eat on the go, though.’ A casserole, an odd smelling fish-based meal, a steak pile of hamburgers on a plate, a pancake-like food especially made to be eaten cold, and a few bowls of unfinished foods, including a rising dough. Sure enough, besides the pancakes, nothing would be good to eat on the go without reheating, and Omori had a feeling Hero would be annoyed if he took anything out.
Omori thought about going through the freezer, but decided against it when he couldn’t reach. Besides, now that he thought about it, Kel, Aubrey, and he had gotten themselves banned from the freezer after eating all the ice cream Hero had brought for the group. Mari had been there too, but Hero could never really put his foot down when it came to her, and Basil had been the only one smart enough to not get caught.
Really, it was only the lack of a step stool that stopped him from rummaging through the freezer anyway.
Omori sighed, closing the fridge for the last time. ‘All done exploring.’ He turned and sat at the table, across from Basil, and Hero finally put the muffins down. Without missing a beat, Aubrey lunged at them, and yelped when she burnt her mouth on it. The older brother sighed.
“I tried to warn you, Aubrey.”
She gave him a glaring side eye, but couldn’t respond without spitting out her bready prize.
He turned to the fridge, eyes twinkling. “I’ll get you some ice to patch you up. Try to listen to me next time, okay?” He opened the freezer section, Omori catching a glimpse of ice cream containers and sitting upright, as he grabbed an ice cube. The door was shut, and Omori sulked. “I know it's boring, but sometimes I’m right about things!” He joked.
Aubrey took the offered ice cube and sulked as she swallowed her bite and held it to her tongue. Once the muffins and Aubrey’s tongue cooled down enough, the four devoured the tray she’d grabbed hers from. Hero pocketed one for Mari and Kel each, leaving six to be taken with them.
Aubrey remained furiously red in the face and silent for the rest of them eating.
‘You got a Strawberry Muffin (x6)!’
‘COLANDER. A metal bowl used for straining pasta and protecting your noggin. +1 DEFENSE, +10 HEART.’
‘Strawberry Muffin: A healthy breakfast alternative to strawberries. Restores 50 Heart.’

Hello!! i really hope i'm doing this right :]
Id like to request an omori pairing!!
My name is Raymond, and Im 14!! I'm a trans male, use he/him/it/its pronouns, and am (questioning) Pansexual, so feel free to match me w/ anyone!! I'm also an intp. I have adhd so please don't mind if anything i say conflicts itself (I tend to be SUPER different at certain times for no reason due to my impulsivity)
My interests are writing, drawing, generally being artsy, volleyball, videogames, reading, and dancing! I tend to change interests often, but those are the ones that usually stay the same!
I typically bounce from one interest to the next, and usually get very angry at myself for losing said interest.
As for personality, i'm usually quite moody, but am typically tired/upset/angry. I'm shy around people I don't know, but i basically consider my friends family. I usually don't make friends easily, so i just stick to my small group.
When i'm upset with someone, i'll usually make it known by either lashing out at them, or just being petty. I hold grudges easily, and have a VERY strong sense of justice.
When in public I tend to be very loud. Most of my classmates who aren't close to me would describe me as annoying. Others may see me as violent, or as constantly mad for no reason (this is the truest thing anyone has said about me). When I am with friends, I tend to be less "annoying" and more like them. I can adapt to fit others personalities and interests. When it comes to social situations, I usually have a "fake it till' you make it" mentality. I typically act childishly, but when I need to do something, I can totally be serious about it.
I tend to space out WAY to often, leading me to missing most important things, so I may seem airheaded/dumb, but i'm not. I'm very clever, and can usually work out most problems on my own.
As for romance, I'm typically awkward with that kind of stuff. It's easy to tell when I have a "crush" from the outside, but those feelings are always platonic. I feel the need to love somebody, but I don't feel attraction to anyone.
I try my best to hide most of my more spontaneous moods/emotions as to not be seen as weird by others.
(HOLY SHIT THIS TURNED INTO A RAMBLE IM SOSOOSOS SORRY 😭)
A/N: don't worry about it!! i actually quite enjoy when people get to talk about themselves and it also helps me make a more accurate matchup so dont sweat it <3 also sorry if this is written weirdly or sometjing i weote this on the toilet and i don't act right wuen im shittinf.
I MATCH YOU WITH...
Tumblr media
RW KEL!!!
now i'm gonna be honest i was reminded a lot of aubrey so my first instinct was to match you with kim but i dont want to be lazy
again, i'm getting some sun & moon vibes
KEL really doesn't mind your moodiness. he might get a little insecure if you lash out at him or act uninterested, so it'll help if you reassure him every now and then that it's not his fault
if you're feeling down, he tries to cheer you up, and i feel like as time goes on you two would kinda,,, help heal each other?? like his sunshiney would rub off on you sometimes
alas, you two grow closer and closer and both of you might start to let your walls down. KEL begins opening up sometimes about his trauma and how he feels bad about himself, and you might talk about your emotions and what's hurting you, and perhaps even get a little soft
more specifically, you get a soft spot for KEL. it becomes a little difficult to be angry when a literal ball of sunshine is around
seeing KEL be so vulnerable to you makes you do it too, and you become more honest about how you might be feeling (and he really appreciates it!!)
when it comes to new people, he'll often do most of the talking as he knows it might not be your thing
KEL spaces out a lot too, and is easily distracted, but similar to you he isn't actually stupid.
in KEL's world, he finds it easier to let on the appearance that he might be a little stupid. and, maybe 4 years ago maybe he really was air-headed. but, things have changes, but he's always found that people are less disappointed when he fucks up if he acts stupider. so, that's what he does.
honestly? KEL doesn't really mind if your attraction to him is romantic or platonic. he feels the same way too, not really sure what he's feeling, but either way he knows that he wants to be with you, and he doesn't really care for any labels or anything. so, if you don't want to, there's no need to label your relationship as partners, or just friends!! all that matters to him is that you're together.
sometimes if you push him away or tug on his ear in annoyance, he'll just walk it off and not retaliate or anything. he isn't like... socially submissive or anything he just doesn't care for revenge
like you, he also has a strong sense of justice, and will strive for whatever he thinks is right, even if sometimes he misses the point and does something wrong (when this happens, it often makes him feel really bad about himself)
volleyball? basketball?? they both have ball at the end, so same thing, right? he teaches you basketball, and you try to get him to play volleyball, but he fucking sucks at it
he likes your creativity! always inspecting your drawings and writing, always calling it the best he's ever seen (even if it's dog shit. he's not saying it to make you feel better, he's saying it because he believes it)
you beat him in every video game and he sulks in the corner

Omotober Day Six
“Bran thought about it. 'Can a man still be brave if he's afraid?'
'That is the only time a man can be brave,' his father told him.”
― George R.R. Martin
The walk home had become much more fun since they had met Aubrey. Before they met her it was just him and Kel. That wasn’t to say Sunny hadn’t had fun on those walks. Kel was his best friend, and he never pressed Sunny out of his comfort zones. He did pretty much all of the talking between the two of them and only stopped periodically to check in with Sunny or get an encouraging nod. Sunny loved to listen to Kel’s ranting and wild made up stories, and he usually ended up drawing them once they got back home. But now that Aubrey was there too, it wasn’t just a walk. It was a performance.
“Did not!”
“Did too!”
“Did not!”
“Did too!”
They continued back and forth, practically tripping over each other in their haste to respond. They had seemingly forgotten anything was around them but their ranting, facing one another as they walked and expertly avoiding obstacles with the practiced ease of those who were used to doing two things at once.
Aubrey had only joined their friend group a week or two ago, but she fit so seamlessly in with them it was hard to remember she hadn’t always been there. Kel had found a sparring partner in her, Mari finally had a little sister to spoil and do girly things with, and Hero could have made friends with a brick.
As for Sunny? Well he wasn’t too sure exactly what he thought of the girl, but he enjoyed having her around. He had never been a fan of loud noises or anger, but somehow with Aubrey it was different. She never stayed angry for long, and even when she was mad, she had never been scary.
“Did too times a million!” Aubrey declared, and Kel gave a disgusted growl, throwing his hands up in the air. She smiled smugly and stuck her tongue out at him, which only started their argument anew as Kel’s fire was rekindled by her slight.
Sunny smiled to himself as their back and forth sped up even more, and he continued to walk innocently at their side. As long as he didn’t call any attention to himself, they wouldn’t remember to drag him into it and try to get him to pick a side. Sunny couldn’t exactly remember what started their argument, or why they were still going at it after being at each other's throats since they had all gotten on the bus, but their shouting was funny.
An unexpected bark broke through his happy haze, and Sunny froze. His good mood evaporated and in its place was cold fear, dripping down his back and gluing his feet to the sidewalk. Hector bounded closer, tongue waving in the wind as he ran towards them. Kel cut off his argument with Aubrey and called for his brother. He intercepted the dog as it got to him, holding his collar fast and keeping him back from Sunny.
Aubrey gasped and clasped her hands together, squealing at the arrival of the furry terror. She skipped over, elated by the new arrival.
“Oh my gosh, who is this?” She asked, holding out her hand towards him. Hector was distracted from his mission to squirm out of Kel’s grasp and sniffed her hand with a laser focus. Once he had determined she was friend and not foe, Hector refocused his efforts to escape.
“This is Hector. He’s my dog,” Kel said, his words punctuated by pauses as Hector jerked them back and forth trying to get his freedom. Hector was only a dog, but Kel was also only a nine year old boy, and trying to hold onto an energetic ball of fur was quite the exercise.
Sunny tried to remember the steps Mari had given him for when he felt like this. Calm down.. Focus. No, he had to focus first, right? He couldn’t remember, and if he couldn’t remember the order, then it wouldn’t work. Sunny shut his eyes tight, letting black starbursts try to distract him from the pain in his chest. It didn’t work, then he was just scared he wouldn’t see if the dog came near him. He opened his eyes again. Kel was watching him with a worried look, and shame colored Sunny’s cheeks. It was bad enough to have such an overreaction to something completely normal, but Kel’s eyes on him somehow made it even worse.
“So cute!” Aubrey shrieked, not noticing what was going on between the boys. She squatted down and let Hector lick at her face, giggling in joy and scratching behind the dog’s ears. She took his face in her hands, speaking to him in a sweet baby voice, “You’re just a little lovebug, aren’t you?”
“Yeah,” Kel said, trailing off. He was clearly distracted by trying to manage everything around him, “Where is Hero?”
Said boy was hurrying up the street, an electric blue leash in his grasp. He was panting from exertion, the same way he always did when what they were doing required any exercise, and Sunny vaguely wondered if Hero had his inhaler with him. It was just running up the street, it shouldn’t trigger an asthma attack, but Sunny also knew that stress sometimes made them worse and could make just breathlessness pull into a full attack. On top of the fear and on top of the shame, now he also had to deal with guilt wrapping around his shoulders for causing Hero to have to run out and help him.
“I’m so sorry guys, Mari and I left the door open to get a breeze and I wasn’t paying attention to where he was,” Hero explained as he clipped the leash to Hector’s collar and pulled him into a heel. Hector walked in circles around Hero and tugged to try and get closer to the group of kids. The second Hero had him, Kel was back by Sunny’s side, blocking him and Hector with his body and quietly checking over his best friend. From around Kel Sunny spotted Mari walking over at a much slower pace, and the steel in his spine began to melt. Mari meant safety.
“Why are you sorry?” Aubrey asked, cocking her head to one side and looking around. She finally saw Sunny hiding behind Kel and she seemed even more confused.
Mari arrived with a gentle smile, walking around Kel and hugging Sunny close without words. He wrapped his arms around her automatically, breathing out a sigh and letting the tension fall out of his shoulders and onto the ground. He had felt better when Hero had intervened, but Mari was the one that made him feel safe again. If she was here, nothing bad would happen.
“Calm down. Focus,” She whispered, and the order clicked into place in Sunny’s mind. Once he knew that, he took an experimental breath. It was easier. He could do it.
“Sunny’s afraid of dogs,” Kel explained as the sibling had their moment, “We always keep Hector in our parents room when he’s around,”
“I completely lost track of time,” Hero said apologetically, rubbing the back of his head with one hand. Now that Sunny was taken care of, Kel knelt down by Hector and shushed the still whining dog, scratching underneath his chin the way he liked. Hector’s leg began to shake erratically and he held his head high to give Kel better access.
“It was an accident,” Mari replied, keeping Sunny close to her. When she worried she liked to have him right beside her, and he never minded. Beside her was the best place for him.
Aubrey hummed to herself, clearly taking in all of the information. She pulled her mouth into a thoughtful frown surveying the scene around her. The young girl walked away from where the brothers were and over to Sunny and Mari. She stood in front of him with her hands behind her back rocking back and forth on her heels.
“He’s a nice dog,” Aubrey stated, shooting Sunny an encouraging smile. She kept her voice sweet and light, the way she always talked to him. He bit the inside of his cheeks, avoiding eye contact with the girl. The shame sitting in his belly got worse.
He knew that Hector was a nice dog. Hector was the only dog that Sunny could even get relatively close to, but that didn’t change the fact that he was a dog. He was loud, and he jumped, and he licked, and the energy was just...too much. Sunny didn’t even have a good reason for being afraid of dogs, he just was. He had always been, and he always would be. It was frustrating. It was humiliating.
“It’s okay, Sunny,” Mari soothed, as if she knew what route Sunny’s mind was bringing him down. She patted his shoulder and turned to Aubrey, “It’s just something that he’s uncomfortable with, it’s not something that has to change.”
Aubrey loved Mari. She liked all of them, but Sunny knew that it was more with Mari. Aubrey looked at her like she hung the moon and the stars, and her word was law. They had only known Aubrey for a short time, but he already knew that she would never disagree with his sister.
That’s what made her next words so shocking.
“My mom says that fears should always be confronted. You can never bring light into the dark unless you open the door.” Aubrey stated, the words clearly rehearsed from hearing them over and over. She ended by holding out her hand towards Sunny, her smile never wavering.
“Aubrey...” Mari started with a sigh, her voice kind but delicately firm. Sunny knew what would come next from that tone.
Mari would gently put Aubrey down from the idea and bring Sunny back to the shelter of their house before anything else could happen. She would wrap him in blankets and hot chocolate and love and he would never have to confront what scared him so badly. It was the option he knew, the one that he should take. It made sense and it was safe, responsible even. It would be foolish to break out of what he knew and go beyond into the unknown.
But Aubrey was still holding her hand out. She still believed in him.
Sunny took her hand before Mari could finish her thought, letting himself be pulled out of his sister’s arms. Aubrey hummed a happy tune as she walked them away from Mari and back towards the boys. They were staring at Aubrey in silenced shock, Kel managing to keep a tight grip on Hector’s collar in spite of being clearly lost for words.
Aubrey, unphased and unafraid, changed her grip on Sunny’s hand and turned it so the back of his hand was facing Hector.
“So what you do is let him smell you. That way he knows you’re a friend, and you know that he’s okay with you being close to him.” Kel and Hero had taught this to him over a dozen times, but trying now wasn’t quite so stressful.
It had to be the way Aubrey held no fear or concern. Every time he had tried this before, his sister and friends had reassured him they were holding Hector tightly and that should anything go wrong, they would be here. The possibility of going wrong was what scared Sunny so badly, but that possibility wasn’t present now.
Hot puffs of air hit the back of Sunny’s hand as Hector eagerly sniffed the offered appendage. Kel still had his arms looped around Hector’s neck and Hero was holding the leash, and nothing had gone wrong yet. A pink tongue darted out and licked at his fingers, and Sunny pulled away. It wasn’t the normal jerky motion that was usually accompanied by a sudden breathless panic, he just didn’t like that feeling. Aubrey giggled and reached her own hand out to pat Hector on the top of his head.
“If you pet him, he won’t be able to lick at you,” She commented, and Kel took the silent direction to turn Hector close to him so Sunny could reach his body, “He’s really soft!”
She was right, Hector was soft. His fur was thick and glossy, clearly cared for and brushed thoroughly to keep it this nice. Sunny had seen Kel brushing Hector in the backyard plenty of times before, but now he could see the appeal of putting in all that work. Experimentally he scratched his fingernails against the dog’s body and he was rewarded by Hector giving a full body shake, turning so Sunny could get to his other side.
This was nice, unexpected, but nice. Mari was coming over now, putting a hand on Aubrey’s shoulder and beaming. Sunny turned around to look at the two of them and awarded the girl’s with one of his rare smiles, both of them lighting up at the unexpected happiness on Sunny’s face. Aubrey let go of his hand and turned all of her attention onto Hector, distracting the pooch with her baby talk.
“Are you fwiends now wiv Sunny? Yes you are, yes you are you sweet little baby,”
Sunny pulled his hand back, but he didn’t retreat. He was focused on watching Aubrey. Strong, confidant, idealistic Aubrey. Sunny finally figured out what he thought of her.

Ok but I’m thinking about Kelly finally getting surgery (because I just need it to happen he’s being so dumb right now) and nursing him back to health and you’ve been mostly pleasing him and he’s so desperate to take care of you so he finally gets you to agree to sit on his face and you’re telling him to take it easy but he’s just so happy to finally have you moaning
omg tell me about it, it felt like forever before Kelly got his surgery
——
Kelly’s arms wrapped around your waist, starling you. “What are you doing up? I thought I told you to get some rest”
“I’ve been in bed for 3 weeks straight, I can’t take it anymore. Plus, you do know the doctor says I need to get up and get back to normal right?” Kelly rests his chin on your shoulder.
Sighing, you hum - “yeah, I was there Kelly, I know but I also know the meds make you drowsy”
“Fine, I’ll go back but only if you promise to come with me”
“Kel, I’m busy honey”
“y/n, don’t make me pick you up” he mumbles, turning you to face him. You know he’s stupid enough to do it so you give in, following him back to the bedroom.
The two of you are laid in bed, on your side looking at each other. “You know what I was thinking?” Kelly says, his finger pushing a strand a hair from your face.
You hum, eyes closed as you relax. “You’ve been taking such good care of me,” his comment earns him a smile. “And I love you for that but why don’t I take care of you?”
“you do, baby”
“not like that, I mean- well in bed.”
“I can wait the few weeks until you’re better”
Kelly’s hand rubs down your side softly, his hand resting on your hip. “I can take care of you in other ways.”
“why don’t you show me?” you shift closer to him, he smiles before laying on his back. “off your back Severide. I’m not gonna let you dumbass end up back in the hospital”
“Princess, I love you but shut up and sit on my face”
“What ?” his statement caught you off guard. You’ve never done that nor has he mentioned it before so you were a bit confused.
“Baby, come on. I’m not asking you again” he pulls you on top of him waiting for you to make yourself comfortable.
Kelly’s hands were on your thighs, supporting you and yours were gripped on the headboard. You had asked him several times if he was sure and he insisted he was.
“I said sit, not fucking hover”

may i req 74 ( “What are you doing?”) whump and found family with Plo and Fordo, my lad?
Who is Watching You’re Back?
74: “What are you doing?”
Characters: Fordo and Plo.
Summary: Ever since he got assigned to the Kel Dor who happened to accompany him on this mission, he noticed things others seem to ignore.
A/N: This is an AU I have been going around in my head and I wish to test it. The Clones aren’t by neither the Jedi, Republic or the Kaminoans. They are Mandalorians and were taken away from Kamino early and have a treaty with Republic. The Jedi, on the other hand, belong to the Republic ever since Darth Malgus’ raid on Coruscant, as they failed to protect the Republic. I hope you enjoy.
The group moved through the dense forest as they proceeded to their target, the Separatists’ comm tower. Fordo has lead countless missions behind enemy lines to get back at Separatists for their Buir and to save his vod for any oncoming assault.
“Thatch,” he called to his comms, as he spied on the comm tower. “What is the amount of resistance?”
There was silence in response, as they waited for the scout team to report.
“Says there are six on the highest platform, six at the entrance.” The voice of Grounder replied.
“How many inside the tower?” Fordo asked.
“Twelve more inside.”
“Seems easy,” chimed Dare through the comms.
“What of our special “help”, Ori’vod?”
Fordo frowned behind his helmet. He didn’t know much of the Kel Dor Jetii that Wolffe dropped on him, but from his loose statements of being a “di’kutla Jetii” on their first meeting, he didn’t say much else. His records show that he was involved in both the Hyperspace War as leader because the previous Jetii died to an ambush, and the Yinchorii Uprising as a servant to the Republic’s whims. He had good reputation as the Republic dog he was, but he never talked much as he preferred to stand at the side during briefings with his vod. Or he would await in the hanger bay or training deck for occupying his time. He was strange compared to how the others were described by working on a ship or meditating alone.
“Kel Dor,” he called into the comms, “what is your position?”
He was only greeted with static. Not the first time a Jetii greeted him with static as response, as he worked with a Shistavavan Jetii who never talked.
He sighed. “Let’s move forward.”
The group moved to the target as Thatch snipped out the ones in front before they could react. They halted at the door while Fordo kicked the droid in the faceplate and shot the other in the chassis.
“Wire, open it up,” Fordo said.
Wire approached the panel, but before she could do anything the door opened to a bunch of dismantled Battle Droids and a single Kel Dor with a brandished Lightsaber.
“How did you get in?” He asked, as he entered.
The Kel Dor deactivated his Lightsaber and hung it belt before clasping his hands behind his back.
“My apologies, General.” The Kel Dor responded. “I merely saw a vantage point to the west of the platform and entered there.”
Fordo huffed and turned to his vod. “Wire, disable their transmissions, inform Cody and Rex that we’re ready.”
“Yes, Ori’vod.” Wire nodded, as she turned to the console.
“The rest, let’s head to the platform.” He ordered, as he walked to the stairs. “You too, Jetii.”
The rest of group made there way up the steps, passing by the occasional droid as they went. Fordo didn’t bother with them, as his concern fell to the Kel Dor’s twitching talons. He frowned from behind his mask. ‘Is he always this twitchy?’ He wondered absently.
They were greeted with a beautiful skyline over looking the forest and the occasional bird flying by from the west. The Kel Dor stood next to Grounder as they scan the area, he noticed him grabbing the railing tightly.
Fordo felt the familiar tap of Thatch, as he turned ti see him point to an oncoming battalion of Super Battle Droids coming from the west. There were also a few tanks accompanying them.
“Grounder, ready the rocket launcher for those tanks,” he ordered, as he grab his pistols.
“What of the rest?” Grounder asked, as he set up his launcher.
“We’ll handle it. Wire, where’s the reinforcements?”
“On there way, but Vultures droids are blocking them.” Wire replied through the comms.
“Then we’ll hold out.”
The group grab their weapons and ready for the assault. Grounder fired a rocket to the nearest tank disabling them, but in turn alerting them of their position. Thatch snipped several on the ground though more took their place.
“If only we had bombers,” Grounder grits, as he fired at the second tank, “then we could take a load of them out.”
“We’ll just have to hold, vod’ika.” Fordo replied shooting down the others.
A blur passed by him as the Kel Dor jumped off the platform and toward the battle below, but the sound of crackling came off of his body while the smell of burning ozone filled his nostrils.
“The Kriff is the matter with him?!” He shouted, as he watched him fall.
Suddenly there was an explosion of electricity that went around the droids. The shockwave went about three feet away from the intisl blast radius, disabling multiple droids in the process. The only thing that was left the smell of burning ozone that filled the air.
Fordo stared blankly as he had never seen anything like that before. Is this what Republic was hiding from them? A Jetii who can shoot lighting. He shook his hea as he fastened his cable to the railing.
“Let’s move.” He ordered, as he jumped off and down to the battle below.
The Kel Dor blocked the on coming blaster fire, as they others reached the ground. Several grazes hit his arms as he attempted to bloc the overwhelming fire, flinched at the ones that suddenly came behind them. He turned to me Fordo’s pistol aimed at the nearest droid.
“We need to talk,” the General shouted, as he walked up beside him.
“Yes, Sir.” The Kel Dor replied automatically, while blocking the shoots
“Hey, Fordo,” called from the comms, “need some help?”
“Get down here, Warthog.” Fordo order to his comms.
Then a line of ships fired down on top of them and at the droids. Then they came back around to fire bombs at those in the rear, cutting off further assult to the ground team.
A gunship landed next to them with blue and animalistic designs. The group ran towards it as Wire followed behind them with the Kel Dor blocking fire for her. They shut the doors as were all accounted for.
“Take us up, Sky.” Fordo called up.
“Alright, Ori’vod.” Sky called back.
Fordo felt the familiar jostling of the ship, but he couldn’t his eyes iff of the twitching Kel Dor as his fingers with crackle with electricity.

When they reached the Resolute, they stepped off of the gunship. Wire rubbed her arm, as the graze bleeding through her greys, while Grounder and Thatch went to put down their weapons. Fordo walked up to Cody and Rex, they greeted them at the hanger.
“It was successful, I hope,” said Rex as he held his grey a blue helmet under his arm.
“You can say that, vod’ika,” the eldest replied, removing his red and black helmet. “Wolffe never said his Jetii can do lighting, though.”
“What?” The two said in unison with bewildered expressions.
“Di’kut Jetii,” he called, over his shoulder, “come here.”
The Kel Dor walked up beside him with hands clasped behind him, his shoulder straightened and his tilted up.
“Tell me, what did you think you were doing jumping down into battle like that?” He asked firmly.
“Apologies, sir,” the Kel Dor said, bowing. “I merely was providing a solution. I will take the according punishment for my mistake.”
“Punishment?”
The Kel Dor stiffened, as he slowly straightened. He shuffled from foot to foot nervously. Was he always this nervous?
“It is forbidden to use such an ability that I am capable of, sir.” He explained. “If are were to, there must a punishment or it is informed to the Republic.”
“Indeed.” The posh voice of General Tarkin echoed in the hanger bay, followed by another Besalisk Jetii behind him. “The asset is forbidden to use such abilities outside of those that are instructed to them.”
“Is that really necessary? Surely the Jetii has a name.”
“Yet you insist on calling him a Jedi, but never bother to ask.”
Fordo glanced at the Jetii, who stepped back a bit. He never once said his name or neither did he ask. Names are important to his vod as they choose them after Buir run away with them twenty years ago, but he never bothered to ask him.
“What’s your name, Jetii?” He asked gently.
“It doesn’t matter, sir.” He replied flatly.
“No, what is it? You’re name.”
“Plo, sir. Plo of clan Koon.”
He smiled at the clan name. ‘Seems very far away from his clan..’ he thought, as he reached out his hand.
Plo stared blankly at the offer before going to reach, but another hand grabbed his.
“What do you think you are trying to do, Guard?” The Besalisk barked, tightening his grip on his wrist.
“I..I was simply…” Plo stammered, gazing up at the taller Jetii.
“He was being polite and giving me a hand shake.” Fordo cut in.
“Apologies, General, but Kel Dor have the ability see thoughts by touch. He doesn’t do handshakes.”
Fordo tightened his hand into a fist as he brought to his side. He glared up at the Jetii as he glared back at him. His vod murmured in Mando’a insults behind him.
“We shall take the beast with us,” Tarkin states, as he scowled at the Plo. “He shall be punished accordingly for his blunt miss use of his abilities.”
“That isn’t necess—,” the eldest tried to cut in, but they already turned to drag off Plo with them.
“Kriffing Republic scum.” Rex muttered, as he glared at the group.
“Tell Wolffe to comm me if Plo ever returns.” Fordo states, firmly as he walks away from his vod. He didn’t feel right abandoning Plo like that.
—————————————————————
The next time he saw the Kel Dor was on another joint mission a few months later. He walked into the bridge as his vod’ika talked while the Jetii stood off to the side. The Togruta and the two human Jetii stood close to each other near one of the modules while his vod’ikas surrounded the map. What caught his wmeye was Plo, who stood in the far corner clasping his hands, his bandaged hands.
“What kriff?!” He shouted, as he walked up to Plo. “Why didn’t you tell me, Wolffe?!”
Wolffe and the others glanced Fordo, as he approached his Jetii, grabbing his hands. The Jetii stiffened at the outburst.
Wolffe frowned. “I asked as well. He wouldn’t say.”
Fordo frowned as he inspected the injuries, as the fingers were in the splint for obvious broken bones for one reason… he used the lighting.
“What did they do to you…?” He whispered, running his hand against the bandages.
“It is alright, sir,” Plo whispered, as he tried move his hand away. “It is alright, I am fine.”
Fordo frowned. “Someone has to watch your back.”
“Others need their backs watched, sir. Mine is fine.”
That was one thing they had in common, they preferred look after those younger than themselves over watch themselves. Fordo made a vow to adopt this Jetii, if it’s the last thing he does.
