So, I am away from computer for four days for a really cool event and I come back and in the mean time they maybe found a polynomial quantum attack against Learning With Errors, a lattice problem? (https://eprint.iacr.org/2024/555) If this paper is correct then this is some serious breaking news shit, because lattices are like the main candidate for quantum-secure public key cryptography. (there are others but they are much less practical and for other types there have also been attacks) I mean, this paper seems to attack just a particular setting, is very impractical and does not work for schemes that are actually proposed, but an existing impractical attack often signals the way for more practical attacks. So, if it is not a false alarm, this is pretty big. It could signal the attackability of lattice schemes and undermine the trust in them. And it takes a long time to move to a new standard. Oh well. I guess we have to wait for experts to check the paper for mistakes before we can say anything.

MIT engineers use kirigami to make ultrastrong, lightweight structures

Produced with techniques borrowed from Japanese paper-cutting, the strong metal lattices are lighter than cork and have customizable mechanical properties.

Cellular solids are materials composed of many cells that have been packed together, such as a honeycomb. The shape of those cells largely determines the material’s mechanical properties, including its stiffness or strength. Bones, for instance, are filled with a natural material that enables them to be lightweight, but stiff and strong. Inspired by bones and other cellular solids found in nature, humans have used the same concept to develop architected materials. By changing the geometry of the unit cells that make up these materials, researchers can customize the material’s mechanical, thermal, or acoustic properties. Architected materials are used in many applications, from shock-absorbing packing foam to heat-regulating radiators.

New superconducting material discovered in transition-metal dichalcogenides materials

With the support of electrical transport and magnetic measurement systems of Steady High Magnetic Field Facility (SHMFF), a research team from Hefei Institutes of Physical Science (HFIPS), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), discovered a new superconducting material called (InSe2)xNbSe2, which possesses a unique lattice structure. The superconducting transition temperature of this material reaches 11.6 K, making it the transition metal sulfide superconductor with the highest transition temperature under ambient pressure. The results were published in Journal of the American Chemical Society. TMD materials have received lots of attention due to their numerous applications in the fields of catalysis, energy storage, and integrated circuits. However, the relatively low superconducting transition temperatures of TMD superconductors have limited their potential use.

i apologize for making about my fifth post about the brnine love interest situation but it really is the funniest thing to me about this season and i can’t stop thinking about it. this episode we finally got brnine and gucci together, not talking over the phone, and seeming to finally be on the same page. brnine has motivated gucci to stay on with millennium break until the end just like valence did for them. gucci is so clearly deeply invested in this relationship. and YET as the scene starts austin specifically notes that jesset is sending brnine vaguely loving and romantic texts. that is love triangle encouragement!! that is encouraging gucci and jesset sitting at council meetings glaring at each other thinking about how they have to beat the other one to going on a date with brnine!! (meanwhile mustard is asking them how they are feeling about approving some sort of clandestine mission and neither of them are listening.) and the thing is. brnine is about to go on a mission where an affliction will likely show up. so of course they’re going to think about lattice. and they’re going to think “hmmm i could date one of the multiple living people who seem to be deeply in love with me. or i could pursue this digital ghost who smells like my dead bestie.” and this is kalvin brnine so i do not think they will make the most clear and healthy choice. oh and meanwhile brnine also just found out that their crewmate is being haunted by the ghost of said bestie’s other bestie who is probably going to have a lot of positive opinions about their recent actions (brnine killing dahlia and taking integrity is basically a more extreme version of how gur got future) and whose general presence is going to make brnine a little wacky thinking about valence even if most likely nothing romantic happens. and speaking of which gucci and jesset are also pretty much being haunted by valence considering their death is what lead to the two of them them founding the parties of the masque and wolf during partizan and this has an existing effect on their relationships with brnine. it’s cool how everyone here is being haunted by the legacy of the same furry and it’s effecting who can date the weird shithead who altered physics

Upcoming Update: Lunar Lattice Tweaks Full Release

Helloooo Ohmes-Raht enjoyers!

First off, HUGE thanks to @littlemissf for helping me fix a lot of issues I was struggling with, and for being super nice and patient with me! I would not have done the full version without you!

Secondly, this mod will not work automatically with current Lunar Lattice characters. With a little effort, I have been able to update some presets. I had been considering writing a tutorial on how to port your old character heads, but ehhhh...

Anyways, what's new?

All old .tri files have been replaced with their appropriate HPH versions: this will fix crashes, issues with sliders, etc. They will no longer have a truly unique morph, however, though original-look presets can be converted

No longer based on the Default morphs: instead, they use Wood Elf morphs. The headparts/RaceCompatibility script have been updated to reflect this. This also means that Wood Elf presets should be transferable.

Removed the HP LLK brows/scars/etc.: they are simply duplicates of HPH and not needed any more

Separated male and female ear meshes. Edited all ear options to sit closer to the new head morph. Stick-out ears look a little better connected now.

Added two new ear options: Small and Small Stick-Out. These are as close to regular elf-sized as I could get.

Changed up the ear selection: I've added the ear types as additional heads in the Face Part slider. This avoids the issue of ear parts stacking/deleting your eyes, while keeping compatibility with other head parts (like beards etc.)

All ears have been converted to BSDynamicShapes and I created .tri files: meaning they should follow some facial sliders and you can now use the Sculpt tool on them. Can't seem to get them to show facetints, unfortunately, so if the ear base overlaps with a warpaint, you may want to sculpt it down

Changed the eyeglow method: instead of using a mesh with a glowmap, the iris mesh now uses the regular environmental mapping and glows via emissive data. This allows for the iris to be cubemapped like the rest of the eye while still glowing

Changed the eyelashes to use the ones from Fair Skin

Adds the LLK hairstyles as options for all humanoids

The main caveat I've found with this version is that the regular elf ears exist under the merlike ones. As long as you don't enlarge them via sculpting or edit the ear sliders, it should be fine.

I am also releasing a new mod with RaceMenu presets for the LLT Full Release. It will have 4 Full Release Style presets, and 4 Classic Style presets that I've converted to work with the update.

Currently, I need to update all the earring meshes, which is going to be a big job.
