How many cosplays do you own and how long have you been cosplaying because I feel like I see you talking about a bunch of different characters all the time like bro how do you have so many

okay so I started cosplaying for the first time in 2016 (technically in 2015 when I went as the evil version of Willow Rosenberg from the TV show 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' for Halloween but I do not have any pictures of that anymore so we'll pretend it doesn't exist) put it on halt in 2020 and 2021, for very obvious reasons, picked it briefly up again in 2022 (only twice tho, once for a con and once for a photoshooting with my friends mom who is a hobby photographer) and have been fully getting back into it since 2023! so 7 years; 5 if you subtract the 2 years that it was put on halt

Now, for the cosplays I need to quickly highlight that I do both "complicated" (accurate) cosplays (I buy them for now as I have no sewing machine yet), as well as closet cosplays; the latter is where you throw together stuff from your own wardrobe and basically just slap on the wig and call it a day (it works really well, is very comfortable and a whole lot cheaper bcs well,,, you just need the wig!)

Now for the cosplays that I currently own and actively wear: Dr Mobius (HI3; closet cosplay), Dr Su (HI3; closet cosplay), Second Key Su (mix between closet cosplay and,,, smth else bcs I handsew this weird grey cloak thing he has?), Mobius in her behated maid dress, Golden Courtyard anime Fu Hua (HI3; closet cosplay), Kafka (HSR), Jingliu (HSR), I have almost completed Einstein (HI3; technically also mostly a closet cosplay) and I do already have the wig for (HI3) Seele and I'll order her outfit next year

so 8 in total! (not counting Seele yet, tho I should look for stuff in my closet in the meantime-)

I also still have my old cosplays but I'll probably never wear them again (Lantern Rite Ningguang (GI) and Castiel (SPN), Lucy (Elfenlied))

if you wonder how: aside from closet cosplays, I do save up money and pay for it myself (I do not spend a lot of money in my day to day life) or wish for it on my birthday or for christmas (Su's wig was christmas, Kafka and Mobius dress were bday presents) (also I got 200 euros from the state for being a student during covid times in germany, that's how I got Jingliu for example) and buying during sales helps a lot

I did it! My vest for Victor is complete! I’m super happy with how it turned out! This was my first time working with faux leather, so that was pretty cool! I also fell in love with this pattern so don’t be surprised if I use it again. In fact I may already have another piece with this pattern in the works…

does anyone else feel just insanely guilty for spending money on things you genuinely need?

This is not about the cosplay, but I spend a bit of my own saved up (!!) money on things I needed for college and for my PC (the new screen) and I Just sit there and feel like I wasted my money?? Idk it's so fucking annoying-

#makes it hard to ask for the cosplay despite my mom saying that it's my birthday present and she's fine with the prize #idk it's weird ... I paid for all the expensive shit myself yet I still feel so entitled and spoiled asking her for the gift she has #promised me just two weeks ago and said she was fine with it #but I suddenly feel like with the amount of moeny I spend (on things I genuinely needed !!! lexy wtf) I shouldn't ask for anything else #despite all of it before being paid with my own money #idk this is a bit of a rant or a vent idk #maybe my dad engrained this into my head by always complaining about me asking for things I did need #and couldn't get myself bcs I was a kid. which is ironic bcs he spend copius amounts of money on things for himself #but kept complaining when my mom and I genuinely needed something #so maybe I'll just feel bad for buying things for a long time #or asking for gifts that are a bit more expensive (she reassured me every single day that it was okay that she buys this and here we are #again with me feeling like a spoiled brat for asking for smth that's not under 30 euros or smth) #(30 euros is the most expensive gift I have ever asked for before and that was unironically 12 - almost 13 years ago) #yeah idk I'm strange I think #lets hope I can get her outfit bcs I'd be so happy abt that #so lets hope I get the courage to ask slkdjls #delete later
