HAPPY PRIDE MONTH 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈
it’s been awhile since I’ve posted much(I blame you wacky internet) but I got so much in store but I’m starting with my hcs (which are technically canon in my sudrianverse au) gender-fluid Atlas (alternate design baby!) and Bi-gender Duke (his design being mainly be inspired by Glowynviator on Twitter and that’s it’s never to late to go on a journey of self-discovery and figuring out who you are 👋🏿✨👏🏿👍🏳️‍🌈Happy PRIDE YALL !!❤️🧡💛💚💙
#ttte#ttte atlas#duke the lost engine#ttte duke#ttte humanized#humanized#ttte humanisation#humanisation#humanization#they’re in a queerplatonic relationship the duke hc came from the awdry notes I’ve seen on here and I loved it and atlas is talking to rust#cause I can’t really see or read them as being in a romantic relationship I kinda saw them as being on the aro ace spectrum#but they totally have a close relationship from every series I watched them interacted cause in my au atlas was the second one to join#the msr so they’re around the same age as duke maybe a few years younger but like duke followed atlas grudge against Duncan and immediately#was the second to realize their behavior after atlas’s realization which I know fits theirpersonality but the fact they simultaneously#agreed cause my heart kinda eehhh and they’re been pranked so much and both seeone another in a good light#old peepaws(term neutral) who loved each other very much(platonically) I know this doesn’t seem very Duke but it was just too good to pass#atlas being gender-fluid kinda e came from the mine engine being different in every au and I thought that was cool and atlas is a gn name#my art#my art lol#my art sketch#my art <3#my art stuff#my art hehe#Duke is surrounded by atlas’s gifts cause atlas gifts his friends precious rocks and gems Duke keeps them safe#Also I keep thinking of a kyle duke scenario where duke goes to him cause of Kyle’s relationship with stanley and running gag of folks#forgetting that kyle died near the end of ww1 he ain’t an 1000 year old god

@queerplatonic-msr
#im kinda interested in your opinion of zutara-
I tend not to think much about it.
Like, I'm not actually here to pick fights with randos on the internet about shipping. I'll comment on a pattern when I think it's interesting or it's relevant to a point I want to make, but while I don't personally ship, to take an example at almost-random, Optimus Prime with Shockwave, picking fights with Shockop shippers is not actually a thing I want to spend my time doing, because I have so little of it and would rather spend what I do have on something else, especially since my new year's resolution for this year was to get into fewer pointless internet arguments.
I'm also just...not that into Avatar. I like it well enough, even though I still haven't seen most of book 2, I enjoyed Legend of Korra and the first Kyoshi book (haven't read the second), I'm enjoying the kicking the live-action one is getting in a popcorn kind of way, but it's not lodged into my autistic soul the way Star Wars or MTMTE or Discworld or even some remaining shreds of Homestuck are. I'm not passionate enough to get invested in shipping arguments about it.
On top of that, when the original show ended in 2008, I had only just picked up my first laptop, which I mostly used to play videogames. I'd never been active in an internet fandom, that didn't really happen until later that year (and that was mostly getting into fights about D&D and Warhammer on 4chan, so, not a great start), I didn't read or write fanfiction (that's relatively recent, and I need to actually finish and publish something after like two years of drought), and while I hadn't even heard the word "aromantic" at the time, I certainly wasn't paying attention to shipping arguments about a cartoon that, at the time, I'd seen Some Episodes Of and Sorta Remembered Enjoying.
At most, at this point, I'm a little impressed by Zutara's resilience. There are people using this website who weren't born when Aang and Katara hooked up. Their kids were prominent figures in the sequel series. And this one non-canon ship is still clinging to life like a f***ing limpet. Can I get a round of whatever they're having for the non-canon ships I enjoy?
But in terms of actual commentary...no, sorry, I don't have any. If the live-action show goes for a Zutara endgame and the writing is ass, I might have something of substance to say then, but I don't have anything now.
Sorry.

Looks like we picked up a modest amount of new followers (thanks, @queerplatonic-msr).
To answer your question – as the post is now restricted, for commenting –, things are still moving, albeit at somewhat of a pause (right now).
The whole family caught COVID, back in August (which our bodies did not take well, this round; gentle reminder to keep yourselves and others safe and keep masking), and I was let go from my job, after that.
As you might imagine, most of my time and energy is focused on trying to reemploy myself, at the moment; so a bit of a lull in development.
But I have every intention to continue working on Swanye, once I have a guarantee of income.
For newcomers, I lay out – at a high level – what I want Swanye to be and what I want it to do here: https://www.tumblr.com/swanye-fediverse/690187019453890560/what-this-project-is-all-about.
While that can be useful, – for some people – that format can be hard to get excited about so here're images of all the stuff that's been developed, so far:

Alright…; well, I was going to but Tumblr won't let me put any more than one video in this post so I'm afraid this is all I can show, here. But you can take a look at the original posts I uploaded, when I had been developing the feature, at the bottom half of this post: https://www.tumblr.com/swanye-fediverse/701303664961323008/swanye-fediverse-with-people-from-twitter-heading. I go into a little more detail in them and there are video descriptions, as well.
And I try to tag posts which talk about ideas I have regarding Swanye (that aren't development related), when I remember, with Swanye Meta.
In case Tumblr ever does actually go down, I have an account on Mastodon at https://fosstodon.org/@Swanye.
I have a lot of excitement about the social media, currently, that's being built and tries to circumvent or avoid Capitalism and Corporations; people want alternatives and we have a real opportunity to supplant the status quo – at the very least, in this niche – with something better.

@queerplatonic-msr : In answer to your question about the state of Sui's gender in Natsuki Takaya's "In Such A Small World" Manga Mogura on Twitter has confirmed that the first two chapters do not reveal any gender information, and that Takaya-sensei is most likely keeping things vague deliberately. The sources that have gendered the main character are most likely Machine Translation or people with an ingrained bias where they assume that the character must be female because why would Takaya write a story any other way?
Tumblr media
[Text: Tweets from @ MangaMoguraRE "I have now read the first two chapters of Natsuki Takaya's new series & could not find a specific mention or confirmation of Sui's gender. Maybe I missed it. The only indication I saw is a panel in which the character wears a male school uniform in a flashback whatever its worth." ]
Whilst I cannot read Japanese myself, I have looked over the free chapters on Manga Park and I cannot see any visual clues as to the character's gender. (The chapter that has them in a school uniform is not available for free) In fact, I would say that visually, Sei reminds me most of Momiji! Who is, of course, a Cis Male.

In my mind, whilst Takaya has before always drifted towards gender essentialism, she has been known to play around with gender. And after making Hajime/Mustuki defacto Canon I can see her wanting to explore more explicitly queer content.
Time will tell, of course, but I do feel far more confident describing Sui as Non-Binary/X-Gendered rather than Female or Male. Whilst Japanese does lend itself to not having any Gendered pronouns, it is still strange to not have any other clues. Especially since we know that Sensei likes to use personal pronouns for character traits (e.g. Yuki using the hyper masculine "ore")
It's been pointed that that on Manga Park, BL series are marked as such whilst this is simply marked as shojo. However, I don't know if they would do the same for a Non-Binary AFAB character, or any Non-Binary character for that matter.
As I said, time will tell and hopefully we will be able to get an English Release for us all to enjoy!

We need to talk about #PlatonicActivity
Okay, my XF peeps. We need to have a little talk about #PlatonicActivity.
I know we all like to give Chris Carter a hard time for not being overt about the MSR, for taking so long for them to get together, and then being coy about it even after they do. I get it. But while I understand the frustration (shippers gonna ship, after all), I see a problematic narrative emerging about the values placed on sex in relationships.
X-Philes are representative of a vast spectrum of sexuality, and one benefit of the show being somewhat vague about Mulder and Scully’s relationship is that people can project onto it, often while staying within canon, and we have an amazing fanfic community because of that.
But there’s a distinct hostility toward those who, like CC, place value on the platonic side of MSR.
The truth is, not everyone experiences love in the same way, and diminishing the importance of Mulder and Scully’s pre-sexual relationship is both dismissive and damaging to already underrepresented groups. For instance, people on the asexual spectrum have long admired Mulder and Scully’s unique bond despite their lack of sexual activity. Positive asexual representation in media has historically been lacking, and a meaningful relationship that wasn’t based on sex was refreshing.
Media, especially in the 90s, was very focused on sex and relationships. There was a constant message being drilled into our heads in nearly every sitcom that if you weren’t having sex, there was something WRONG with you. This was harmful to allosexual people (people who experience sexual attraction) who had a hard time with relationships for any number of reasons, as well as asexual spectrum people who don’t normally experience sexual attraction or a desire for sexual relationships. And unfortunately, people on the asexual spectrum are regularly made to feel like they're broken or shouldn't exist for not placing the same importance on sex as the rest of society. But not feeling sexual attraction is not the same as not wanting or experiencing love.
The big problem here is equating sex and love. While people who love each other do often enjoy sharing sexual experiences, one is not necessary for the other. And a lot of people saw that in Mulder and Scully--a real, deep, true love that did not depend on sex. Which brings us back around to platonic love. What Mulder and Scully had in their early relationship was far more than a simple friendship. It was a relationship with the strength and bond that one often associates with an established relationship, just without the sex.
I don’t think we had the terminology to really define something like that back then, but within the past decade or so, the terms “quasiplatonic” or “queerplatonic” popped up to define a relationship much more intense than normal friendship, but not defined by sex or romance. A queerplatonic relationship is defined as a relationship "which is more intense and intimate than what most people regard as a friendship, not fitting the traditional romantic couple model or the traditional bounds of friendship." Sound familiar?
Now, none of this is to say that Mulder and Scully are asexual or that their relationship didn’t eventually evolve into a romantic or sexual one. (Though there are potential asexual spectrum readings on the characters, but that’s another post.) Their relationship did, canonically, evolve. But the addition of sex does not negate the fact that they already had an existing meaningful relationship based on powerful love and respect, even if that love was not originally romantic.
And that’s my big problem with platonic relationship bashing, the implication that sexual relationships inherently have more value than other types of loving relationships. Sex may be important to YOU, and that’s cool! But not everyone places the same importance on sex in relationships, and that doesn’t do anything to take away from the relationship itself.
So when CC talks about their relationship being platonic, I don’t see that as any kind of insult to the relationship. He knows they’re much more than just friends. (Though I think he also just likes to troll us, too.) Sure, the relationship didn’t stay platonic, but that was the core of it, the foundation. Sex may have eventually added a new dimension to it, but it was already built upon a love more powerful than most people experience in their lifetimes, and that shouldn’t be diminished.
Does that mean we should stop making fun of #PlatonicActivity? For the most part, I think it’s all in good fun. But this was still a love story well before sex came into the mix, and I think we can recognize the value in that, too.
